It’s bright and sunny when you wake up, and you’re so comfortably warm. Stretching, you felt Spider rub his face into the warm surface of your chest. Smiling at Spider’s clinging arms around you, you sigh sleepily, opening your eyes, only to discover that it’s not Spider that’s holding you. Lyle breathes beneath your chin, his arms wrapped firmly around your waist as he rests his head on top of your breast.

Startled, you push yourself out of his muscular arms, jumping to your feet, startling him awake in turn. Bleary yellow eyes look up at you before closing them again, wrapping the blanket around him like this was a normal thing for him.

“Good morning to you to, buttercup” He murmured annoyingly, rubbing his eyes.

“What are you doing in my room!?” You shout.

“Check again, sweetheart, this is my room” Lyle answersand smirked when you furrowed your eyebrows and started looking around.

“Why were you holding me? You have no right to hold me” The man didn't seem bothered by your reaction and you just now realized the situation you were in. How did you end up in bed with another person like that?

“You wouldn’t let me go. You had your tail wrapped around me like you didn’t want me to go. I kinda like that” Lyle laughs in amusement and laid on his side with his head resting in his hand, watching your confused expression.

“You’re lying. I would never do that” you frown as you tried to force yourself not to believe him.

“It’s the truth, baby” Lyle says with a devilish smile.

“It’s not!” You hiss, sensing your cheeks turning red from embarrassment.

“It’s to”

“It’s not!”

“It’s-“

“Will you two shut up? It’s too early for this” Spider grumbles, he yawns before reaching over Lyle to grab the remote control, turning the TV on.

You huff before looking at the other bed when you notice one person missing.

“Where’s the Colonel?” You ask, the other bed perfectly neat and made, like it hasn’t been slept in.

“He’s with General. Probably getting his ass chewed by her as we speak” Lyle yawns, he sits up on the bed, the blankets pooling around his waist, exposing his naked upper body. You had to look away to stop yourself from drooling.

“What for?” Spider questions.

“We’re not giving her the results she wants fast enough” Lyle shrugs, “a fucking cunt is what she is” he mumbles under his breath as he stands up from the bed, leaving him on only boxers.

The door opens revealing Quaritch, swearing silently, he steps into the room, with a paper bag in hands.

“Here, sweetheart” you look at the bad confuse as he hands it to you.

“What’s this?”

“Your cloths”

“Really?” You accidentally shout excitedly. You rip the bag open showing not just your tewng but also Spider’s and your songcord.

“Awesome. I thought you would’ve thrown it away” Spider says as he reaches for his songcord.

“I was, but figured you would’ve made a huge fuss about it if I did” Quaritch shrugs.

“Nice cargos, Miles?” Lyle snickers, eying the way he’s wearing cargo shorts. Damn, he looks so good wearing them.

Spider shoves you, you look at him with a small side glare, till you realized you were biting your bottom lip, your cheeks heat up and you quickly cover your face with your braids as you busy yourself with your songcord in your hands.

“How’d it go with the General?” Your ears flick at attention, Lyle tried to whisper but you could still hear.

“Pissed but was satisfied to hear we are getting our banshees”

A knock on the door catches all your attention, it opens and enters Z-dog.

“You asked for me, Colonel?” Quaritch faces you.

“Darlin, go with Zdinarsk. She’ll take you to shower and get dressed” you nod, you grab your stuff and follow Zee out of the room.

Pattering your feet into the woman’s bathroom facility. Z-dog holds out a small bag and a towel for you.

“There’s a shower kit in there, use it. Turn the nozzle left for cold or right for hot” with that, Z-dog leaves and closes the door behind her.

undressing, you sigh in relief, you hated the heavy cloths on you, you throw the worn and torn out shirt over your head, your thumbs hook into the waist band of the sweatpants, and pull them down your legs. You move the curtain to the side and step in. You place your items to the side.

Turning the nozzle, water spurted out aggressively making you jerk back. You were used to the gentle streams that naturally flowed through the Hallelujah Mountains, not this hard water that beat your face.

Your hair fell between the movement of your shoulder blades as your tail flicked from the relaxation. You hummed from the warmth, tipping your head back to let the water splash down your neck and chest. You grab the bag to see two small bottles and a bar of what you recognize as soap that the humans uses.

Once you finish, turning the nozzle off, You dried yourself off and got dressed. Holding up the tweng, you place the leather over your hips. Binding it around your tail, you fasten the fabric. you fasten the fabric to the front. Once done, you do same for your top, you maneuver your breast to be held up nicely in your leather top, lastly you tie your songcord on your hip.

“C’mon, mamas” you hear Lopez voice as he knocks on the door. You leave the stuff behind as you head for the door open it, revealing Lopez and Prager.

“Damn, mami” Lopez whistles, his eyes going up and down your body.

“You’re done?” You ask with your hands on your hips.

“Not yet” he holds up a finger, again taking in your body, taking a mental picture to use later, “okay I’m done.” You couldn’t hold back an eye roll at him, “Colonel and the others are waiting out at the docks”

You follow them as they navigated the halls of the holding facility. Lopez and Prager paused, stepping into the transition compartment between the outside of the facility, you stand in between them.

“Gentleman, heading out?” The voice of Ardmore breaks your concentration. Your ears flick downwards, your upper lip twitch, a snarl threatening to come out. You’ve heard of her from Spider, what she has done to him.

“Yes ma’am” answers Lopez. Ardmore turns to look at you with a strange glee in her eyes, it makes you feel uneasy.

She nods her head towards the two recoms next to you, before you could react, Lopez and Prager grabs your wrists and shoulders forcing you onto your knees in front of the General.

A scientist walks into the room and gave Ardmore a device. It was a large collar with a few lights on the side indicating that it was on. Then Ardmore holds up a remote and pressed a button, the collar burst with electrical tendrils.

Your eyes widen at the technology you’ve only seen in movies. This woman is more deranged than you have thought.

"If you run away, the Colonel will shock you. He might trust you, but I surely don’t. So be a good pet and put this on" Ardmore takes slow steps towards you, before she could place the collar on, you snarl and snap your teeth at her, she jumps back before you could sink your teeth into her skin. She glares at you with puckered lips.

“Bring it” she orders as she snaps her fingers. A soldier walks forward and hands a muzzle to her, “you’re going to act like a dog, I’m gonna treat you like a dog”

Prager grabs you by your kuru, forcibly holding your head still, he tugs on it as warning. Ardmore walks towards you again with confidence in every step, she places the muzzle to your face and tightens to straps, making you hiss.

“Behave” she tuts with a small smirk, you try to pull away but there was nothing you could really do at this point but submit as the General steps forward and place the device tightly around your neck with a smug grin.

Quaritch looks down at his watch with a grim look. The unit been waiting for almost twenty minutes, annoyed by waiting for the final three.

“What’s taking so long?” Spider groans impatiently.

“Yeah, what’s taking them so long? They should’ve been here by now” replies Ja

“Should we go look for them? We’re behind schedule?”

“Let’s give them a few minutes”

“Ha maybe Lopez is-“

“Oh shit” Z-dog whispers under her breath, looking behind the unit, Quaritch turns around with raised eyebrows in surprise. He didn’t have the time to ogle your half naked body.

“Colonel, just came to drop off the savage” Ardmore steps aside to let Lopez who has your hands behind your back to keep you restrained from attack the General.

Lyle try’s not to give himself away when he eyes the muzzle on your face behind his sunglasses, he bites his tongue. Quaritch isn’t doing much better, but puts up a pucker face.

You look down feeling embarrassed and humiliated being in such a position like this, tears prick your eyes.

You soon felt a sense of dread fall over you when you see the thing that basically controls you. Ardmore turns to Quaritch and held out her hand. He opened his palm and she gives him the remote.

“Here you go, Colonel. Hope she’s not too much to handle,” the General says upbeat. "You fly run or fly away, the Colonel will electrocute you or I’ll kill you myself. Understood?"

“I hope you get eaten by a Palulukan” you mumble, she didn’t understand you but the nod of your head makes her think you understood. Lopez and Prager heard you and tried to fight back a grin that’s threatening to form.

“Good,” then she brought her attention to Quaritch. “Make sure you have the savage under control”

“Yes ma’am. I’ll make sure to keep the animal in check”

Closing your eyes, your heart break hearing Quaritch call you an animal. It hurts, it was like all the time you spent together and those little moments you had together meant nothing to him. But that made you remember what you really are. A captive, someone they took hostage to learn your ways and to kill your father.

Quaritch could feel the hard stares from his team but ignores it.

“Alright, let’s get going” Miles ordered, clapping his hands a few times. Everyone starts making their way towards the lowered ramp of the carrier. Spider jogs next to you, grabbing your tail.

“Hey-“ Quaritch attempts to grab your elbow, but you jerk away from him with a hard glare. You move your tail forward, Spider getting the message moves infront of you, making sure he enters the carrier before you do, and attempt to keep him within your sight.

Lopez offers to holds you by your arm and helps you walk forward, helping into the Samson. He sits you down next to Spider who hasn’t taken his eyes off you worriedly.

You still haven’t taken your eyes off the ground when someone kneels in front of you, the dragon tattoo on the forearm tells you who it is.

“Can I take this off?” Lyle softly ask you, not wanting you snap at him.

Swallowing softly, you nodded your head, he scoots a little bit closer to you with a reassuring smile.

He leans forward so he could reach behind your head, he works carefully, un-tying the knots before loosening the straps of the muzzle.

Leaning back, Lyle carefully holds the muzzle and pulls it away from you, cringing slightly as it stuck to your face, revealing deep creases on your skin from how tight it’s been.

Quaritch who has been watching the entire time, looks down shamefully.

Lyle tosses the Muzzle to the side and sits down next to Spider.

“Did you bring a secondary mask and unit for Spider? For backup?” You ask timidly, Lyle doesn’t like that, he doesn’t like that at all. Just this morning you were yelling at him for holding you and now you are a shell of yourself. What did Ardmore do to you?

“Yeah baby, I got it, don’t you worry” Lyle smiles at you, you softly smile back before looking down. Spider scoots closer to you.

You took notice that Quaritch took a seat farthest from you sitting next to Z-dog at the other side of the aisle. You ignored the pang of your heart and ignored Quaritch the entire time even while climbing up the Hallelujah Mountains to tame their Ikran’s. Hoping you don’t encounter your family or clan.

“Come on, keep up losers!” Spider taunts them as he and you leaps from a floating rock to another with such ease. Spider looks down at them as they try to keep up, they were much better at climbing, but this was considerably more challenging.

Finally, you and the Recoms climbs into a hallow tunnel of one of the giant, floating rocks. It was cool and damp, some of the water pattering onto your face. The Recoms also took a breath of relief for the tunnel looked like an easy ascension, able to be scaled without climbing, just basic walking.

Then you noticed the troublemaker was missing.

“Spider?” Quaritch gruff voice echoes of the stone walls.

“Boo!” Spider jumpes from between the cracks, startling some of the Recoms, making a few snicker at the ones who got scared.

You smiled timidly, a hand over your mouth, and turn away from the others.

Once the rest of the Recoms finally made it to the top, hundreds of Ikran’s populated the area, their screeches echoing through the massive floating area. A few see them and immediately take flight, their shrill cries following them down into he mist below.

Crouching low, they follow Spider’s and your lead, only stopping the closest they would be able to get before the banshees attacked. You crouch next to Spider on one of the fallen tree trunk as the others gathered around, guns drawn and ready.

You turn your head when a rifle clicked to your right, drawing your attention from the Ikran’s and turning it to the tranquilizer gun in Lyle’s hands.

Lyle is reading a rifle, the tranquilizer dart sliding into place as he snaps it into place.

"I got this." Quaritch pulls the gun from his hands and aims. Lyle had a distinct look of alright, damn. You scowl at Quaritch as Spider starts chuckling at him.

"What?" He lowers the sniper and stares at Spider.

“Na’vi kids younger than me do this with their bare hands” Spider was amused.

“Tranquilizing them won’t help you bond with them. How can you make Tsaheylu with a knocked out Ikran?” You explain, arms cross over your chest with a disapproving frown.

“Y/n did it when she was 10, and she was the youngest of the clan to bond with an Ikran” Everyone's heads shift to stare at you, but it's Lyle and Quaritch who looks pissed.

"Not much else to do when Rawm decided to tackle me off a cliff." You roll your eyes, remembering when Rawm attacked you.

“Jake Sully, did it the hard way?” You could hear the competitiveness from his voice, making you smirk.

“What do you think?” Spider responds with a smirk.

Quaritch's ears turn down in acceptance, sucking his teeth, he gives the rifle back to Lyle, who looks at him worriedly.

"What are we doin' Colonel?" He answers by walking over the roots, and moving towards the banshees. hitting Lyle’s shoulder in the process . You snicker hearing the loud smack, Quaritch still has no control of his tail.

Hell, if Sully could get a banshee the hard way, then so could he. Grabbing his queue over his shoulder, Quaritch tactically steps closer, eyes zeroing in on a Ikran. The beast cried loudly as it spread its long wings before hissing at him.

"This is gonna be good." Spider chuckles and then leaps off the roots to follow behind Quaritch.

"All right, move up." Lyle orders the others, guns still at the ready, “move up, baby” he gently pushes you forward next to Spider.

Looks like one of the banshees wants to kill Quaritch. She rares up, flashing her wings and screeches at him threateningly. He is unperturbed and moves closer as she continues to bare her retractable fangs at him.

"I think she likes you, Colonel” you tease.

He ignores you and continues, needing his full attention for this task. Many times he'd seen these things rip apart shuttles and the men within. He didn't feel like dying today.

"It's just you and me, Cupcake." The Ikran hisses at him viciously, and he returns it. The hiss threw you off, you weren’t expecting him to follow his Na'vi instincts... Why did you feel pride over that? Before you can think further, Quaritch dodges the ikran's lunge and...

Of course he would punch an Ikran.

When she snapped again Quaritch ducked under her neck and rolled to the other side before throwing himself onto her back. His arms latched around her neck as she reared up. He attempts to wrap his legs around her neck, but she bucks and he slams back down with a grunt as Spider Oohs at the rough landing.

You bite your bottom lip worriedly, maybe they weren’t ready. Your ears stand at attention when you realized you forgot something.

"Spider," you leans your head towards him. “Where the fuck is the yimkxa?"

"Did I mention you're supposed to tie the mouth shut first?" He pulls out the banshee catcher and wiggles it tauntingly.

"Thanks a lot, kid!" Quaritch yells out as he struggles with the thrashing Ikran trying to kill him.

"Spider!” You shout, “You were supposed to give him that!" You yell as the Ikran continues to screech and thrash around.

"Oops, he'll be fine." he gives a half shrug. You scowl at his uncaring nature and face Quaritch.

“Make the bond!” You yell out to him, reminding him to connect their queues.

The ikran thrashed and stumbled to close the edge, your chest fell when Quaritch tumbles over the cliff with the Ikran.

"Move up, move up!" Lyle called out, and they all ran towards the edge, meanwhile Quaritch is still screaming as he falls into the clouds. “You see him?"

You run to the edge and peered over as they disappeared into the clouds below with a final, echoing scream that ricocheted around the mountain walls.

You lean into the gale with bold trust as you had many times before, letting it hold you up as you squinted for any sign of the Colonel and the Ikran.

A hand grabbed your shoulder and pulls you back.

You shove it off and turned to look at Lyle. “Let go of me!” you snap.

There was something so genuinely caring about the look in his eyes. His face was impassive, as usual. But his ears were lowered and flat against his head as his tail twitched in anticipation.

Spider sees the two of you looking at each other and watches Lyle’s face morph into sorrow.

“Let’s go, baby” he whispers to you before facing the other. “Let’s go. We're Oscar Mike. Come on." They begin to shuffle away, and he pats Lopez on the back as he passes. "Let's go. We're outta here."

“You can’t honestly believe his dead, do you?” You exasperate. He won’t even wait a little longer?

“Y/n, we both just saw him go off a cliff” Lyle gets eye level with you. Saying your name for the first time.

“No, he fell off the cliff with a Ikran, there’s a chance he could’ve made it”

“Baby-“ he makes a move to grab your arm to drag you back from the edge. You slap it away from you, tears threatening to spill

“No, I’m not-“ A screech came from behind you , followed by the excited laughter of a man who had managed to escape death.

The immense sense of relief that washed over you at the sight of him caught you off guard. You didn't think you’d actually be relieved to see him.

"Yeah!" That's right!" Quaritch grins, pumping his fist in the air with the biggest smile you had ever seen on him. The squad cheers as he zips around and flies.

"Yeah Colonel! Get some!" Lyle calls out in relief as the others continue to celebrate.You let out an incredulous laugh, Spider laughs next you in relief when he leans his shoulder against your side.

"Who's up next?" Quaritch yells out as he swoops down, forcing all of them to duck. You turn to face Lyle who shares the same relieved look as you. You yank the rope out of Spider's hand. Intent on letting the other Recombinants actually use it this time. Spider was laughing and smiling along with the Recoms. Looks like he was relieved he hadn't accidentally kill his father.

One by one, they all tamed their Ikran’s. You’re once again felt conflicted. You were so satisfied watching them tame an ikran and fly. It shouldn't have made you happy, you were literally betraying your people, your family.

Compared to Quaritch, everyone else got their Ikran’s with ease. No one else was thrown off the edge a cliff, but there were a few scrapes and bruises. You take a mental note to remind yourself to make healing paste for them.

Quaritch gestured to Spider to come closer. The kid didn’t have to be told twice, jumping from the tree he was sitting on before running over to them. For a split second, Quaritch worried that his banshee would be aggressive towards his son, but as he neared, she simply turned her head to greet him, pushing her muzzle against his chest as he gave her a quick neck rub, obviously loving the attention. 

"You named her yet?" Spider ask when he turns to look at him.

“Cupcake has nice ring to it, don’t you think?” Lyle walks towards them with a strut.

“No-“ before Quaritch could protest his Ikran chitters happily hearing her name, he groans in frustration.

“Fine. Cupcake it is” he relents, sighing as he runs hand down her snout.

Lyle glances over his shoulder, seeing you by yourself, sitting on a boulder, looking over the mountain. You haven’t interacted with anyone since Quaritch almost fell to death.

“Spider, why don’t you go with the others” Lyle places his hand on his shoulder, he encourages Spider by gently pushing him with the other recoms.

“Okay?” Spider looks at him weirdly by listens nonetheless.

Lyle sighs when he look back at you, before turning to look at Quaritch who was also looking at you.

“She didn’t want to leave you know” Quaritch snaps his head at Lyle with raised brow, obviously confused by the conversation starter.

“What are you talking about?”

“When you fell off the cliff. We immediately thought there was no way you could have survived, even me” he admits, Quaritch immediately sees the frightened look in Lyle’s eyes, “but she believed you survived. And she was right”

Quaritch hums at the new information and turns to look at your direction but doesn’t see you, he’s widen worriedly and frantically looks around till he see your tail disappears behind a wall.

“Go talk to her and set things straight. As much as I hated it when you called her an animal, I know you didn’t mean it”

“How would you know?” Quaritch snaps at Lyle. But it doesn’t faze him at the slightest, Quaritch forgets the man knows him from the inside out.

“You forget that I know you” both look at each other, the eye contact so intense, sighing in defeat, Quaritch looks down and nods his head.

“Okay” walking around Lyle, Quaritch walks towards where you had disappeared.

Spider stands next to Lyle as they both watch Quaritch disappear behind the wall to follow you.

"Why’d you let him go after her? they hate cach other." Spider ask.

"no, they don't. not really” Lyle answers.

Smiling brightly up at Rawm, you place your forehead to his when he bends down, greeting him warmly as you close your eyes. 

“I miss you too, Rawm,” You start, wrapping your arms around his head. 

Flapping his wings, he chirps at you and you immediately chuckle at him. Suddenly Rawm shrieks, his wings widening threateningly. Turning around, you see Quaritch standing behind you.

“I wasn’t going to fly away” you growl.

“I know” he replies with his hands up in surrender, eyes meeting yours.

“What do you want?” You grumble, turning your head away, not wanting to look at him, feeling anger bubbling in your chest.

“I just wanted to talk, darlin”

“No we don’t” you snap, turning to glare at him.

“Sweetheart, listen-“

“No, you listen” you cut him off, steeping away from Rawm and stomp closer to Quaritch, “just yesterday you were gentle, pleasant, and caring to Spider and I. And now it’s like all the little moments we had meant nothing to you. You’re hot and cold towards me specifically and it’s giving me whiplash” you shout, throwing your arms up, exaggerated.

“You think I liked calling you that?” He raises voice, not able to hold his temper back, “I had to play the part, if I didn’t, god only knows what she could’ve done to you. You think I liked seeing you with a collar and muzzle like a fucking rabid dog?”

You were taken aback as he snaps, but he wasn’t angry, he was confessing. You couldn’t hold back the tears as the start sliding down your cheeks. Damn you and your sensitive heart.

You take a step back from him and turn your head downwards slightly. Your mind was riddled with a million thoughts that you had no idea how to process at once. It was so overwhelming you could barely think straight.

“I’m sorry, sweetheart” by the sound of his voice, you could tell he doesn’t apologize often, “I really am” he hesitantly reaches for your wrist, half expecting you to slap him, anything.

Without thinking, you throw yourself into his arms, wrapping your arms tightly around his narrow waist. Quaritch holds his arms up in surprise, not expecting this. He slowly wraps his arms around your small frame, noticing the height difference between the two of you, you barely reach his chest.

“Scared of me dying, darlin” he couldn’t help but tease with a grin but it instantly falls when he hears your whimpers and sniffles into his chest, that’s when he realizes you’re crying.

“Oh c’mon, sweetheart, there’s no need to cry over spilled milk” he coos down at you. You step back as he loosen his arms, placing his hands on your biceps.

Using the back of your hand to wipe away any fallen tears, you look up at Quaritch who hasn’t taken his eyes off you, looking at you like you hold stars in the palm of your hands.

Unexpectedly you slap Quaritch, your palm stinging from the impact but you ignore it.

“What the hell was that for?” He looks down at you, astonished.

“That’s for almost giving me a heart attack. You do that again and I’ll throw you off the cliff myself f” you threatened, before walking around Quaritch to go back with the other. “Fuckin’ suicidal dumbass…” you mumble under you breath.

Quaritch rubs his cheek, a smirk forming as he watches you go, but couldn’t help himself as he eyes the way your tail moves side to side, almost hypnotizing him. Full of your plump ass on display, making it hard for him to look away.

Damn.

He had to fight back a groan. When he first laid his eyes on you, the outfit didn’t affect him, but now? God give him strength for he might sin.

If you attack ascended Astarion at the epilogue party as a mindflayer, all the rest of the companions will join in the attack with you. Which doesn't make a ton of sense from my perspective because frankly, they should all be just as scared of mindflayer Tav as they are of ascended Astarion, if not even more so. Let's just be real and admit that Astarion, as "mean" as he is when he breaks up with mindflayer Tav, is 100% correct. Tav is not Tav anymore. Ilithids don't have souls. They're not a person anymore. And Tav can prove it by attacking him out of the blue at a peaceful-ass gathering. Even Astarion with how cruel and egotistical he becomes when ascended is still more "human" than a mindflayer because he at least retains his soul and personality, as warped as it becomes. That's all besides the point, though.

My main point it I just find it weird how so many so-called Astarion "fans" revile in this scene and find it so funny how Astarion "gets his comeuppance" in this scene or whatever. And I don't know about anyone else, but I find this scene incredibly sad and tragic. Both Astarion and Tav have lost themselves completely (Tav even more so than Astarion, I would argue). And it kinda baffles me how so few fans of Astarion can see how much he's clearly hurting here as well?

He claims he hasn't thought about Tav in the past 6 months, and he delivers the line in a way that is clearly meant to sting as much as possible. People point to that moment as a "gotcha" moment that Astarion genuinely doesn't miss Tav. But he then immediately contradicts this a few sentences later when he says thinks all the time about what could have been if they had stayed his consort and never became a mindflayer. And that all his power is nothing without Tav by his side (paraphrasing).

"OH he's just manipulating Tav" why would he say anything that would make him look weak or vulnerable? If anything, he should be bragging about how GREAT he's doing without Tav. How awesome his life as a vampire lord is without them. And at first he does just that, the first half of the conversation is all bragging. But the longer he talks to them, the more the little hurtful truths slip out behind the hateful words. Like for as much as fans claim to understand that Astarion will often say one thing but mean another some of them sure are shit at being able to tell when he's clearly covering up his hurt with vitriol.

And again there's something weird about cheering on mindflayer Tav when their turn can be considered just as tragic as Astarion ascending. Like don't get me wrong I enjoy letting a monster do their thing. But it's like this weird double standard where mindflayer Tav's monstrosity is good and cool to idolize and joke about them wanting to eat the brains of their friends but the second someone has fantasies about being Astarion's consort they need to be psychoanalyzed.

And it's also ridiculous that if you even so much as suggest that hey, maybe there's more going on with ascended Astarion than meets the eye, maybe he actually is suffering in his isolation, ect. you get called a delusional idiot because people just really want to believe Astarion is truly a 100% different person from his ascended self when that's simply. not. true. Again the writers have confirmed the ritual didn't consume his soul. The ritual amplified all his worst personality traits that he already had.

I'm not saying you need to love ascended Astarion BUT if you love his character for what he is you should be able to at least appreciate him. You should be able to at least find him tragic and compelling. Kinda annoyed that many fans, who are seemingly uncomfortable with being confronted with this side of him, would rather turn him into a big joke or reduce his full spectrum of emotion to just "smug apathy."

Alright I have officially caught up on ALL of your games. Firstly, WOW, they were all amazing. You genuinely haven’t missed. I could go on about all of them, but in particular I wanted to highlight how you handle endings. The way you do plot twists is always impressive, and I look forward to them in every game. With that in mind, I have a couple of questions about the endings. Spoilers for basically every arcadekitten game ahead.

1. What’s your favorite ending you’ve made for any of your games? It doesn’t have to be a canon one, just an ending that you particularly love. Personally, I have to give it to Reggie’s good ending in Cemetery Mary, because that twist is perfect. Though huge credit to HFSH, because i genuinely did not expect that

2. Has there ever been an ending you were unsure about? As a writer myself I’ve doubted endings before, so I want to know if you’ve had the same struggles.

3. Which endings do you tend to come up with first? Good, bad, or true?

4. This one isn’t exactly ending related, but I’ve been curious, are any of the games directly canon to each other outside of Cemetery Mary and Holiday Shopping?

I will try to answer the best I can!

My favorite ending...it's hard to say! I definitely enjoy Reginald's Good Ending in Cemetery Mary too, which may or may not be influenced by my love for him...I also am still very proud of the Here For Sweethearts ending no matter how controversial it may be! I think I like all the endings of Blackout Hospital too, I think they each add something and I like how I was able to implement them. ---

I'm not sure! It's been a while, and I feel like I only try to put in endings that feel like a natural progression of events. I guess I'd say that while I wasn't unsure I was a bit nervous about the Normal End of My Neighbor Enide? Only because I was worried players would achieve it, think it's the only end, and then stop playing before they could learn the truth. But that's why I specifically labelled it as "Normal" to imply there was more than one and it seems to have worked! I'd also say that sometimes I get a bit...it's not nervous, but like. There's a feeling I get when I know for the story to work it can only have 1 ending, but because of that there's inevitably going to be people saying the game would be "better" if it had more, which I do not always agree with. ---

It's hard to say! In my head it feels like they all kinda...grow together, though I guess I'd say because the true ending is the most important I try to get it sorted first. From that point I can branch out as many times as I'd like for alternative endings. (Especially when a true ending can be good or bad, it just needs to exist) ---

I would say that some games share connections (such as Blackout Hospital and Cemetery Mary), but that so far Cemetery Mary and Holiday Shopping are the only games that take place in the same timeline!

Hmmmm. If it was ‘anything’ I’d switch with something with wings. But if it has to be a person then I guess the next best thing? Like a Circe du Soleil arial performer? Yeah, I think that’d be cool, but also after an hour I’d be kinda done. Perfect.

I don’t have baths after dark. No one should. The nighttime monsters are gonna get you, if you’re wet after sundown. I don’t make the rules 🤷🏽‍♂️

3. If you had to teach a college course what would it be in?

Something animal related. Or problem solving and problem prevention. Like, I always say you can’t teach common sense but… maybe I could try?? Cause I think I’d be pretty good at it! Maybe not college. Get them earlier. While they’re malleable. Teach them how to spot shit that’s about to hit the fan. And what they can do to prevent it! Teach them how to walk into a room and register the 13 things that need to be addressed / fixed / saved / cleaned before they walk back out of the room. Yeah. I’d be good at that.

4. season 12 of shameless is suddenly happening and you’ve been put in charge! what plot point(s) are you gonna make happen?

I want them all to be settled and happy. I don’t need life to be perfect. But just…

I like Lip being into the building and decorating, but he’s soon gonna miss using his brain, so I’d like him to move into either the architecture side of things or the business management and franchising side of things.

I love Ian & Mickey being happily married forever and ever, and they’ve gone through so much shit, they should just get to be happy, but! I hate that all mentions of Ian’s bipolar were cut from season 11. This doesn’t just go away. Show me how well they deal with it now, but also how it’s still hard, and how it touches a part of Mickey’s hurt and trauma that he doesn’t want to achonowledge, and how sometimes it makes Ian self-loathing and mean and Mickey scared and angry, and when they get like this they lash out at each other. And then show me how, even when things are hard, they continue to fight for each other and choose each others, because they will ALWAYS choose each other.

Sandy is going to come back and Debbie and her are gonna make a real go of it.

Carl is going to buy and run The Alibi and it’s going to be awesome.

Mouse was named after Michael ‘Mouse’ Tolliver (Tales of the City) by Ruth and after Mouse the Temple Dog from Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files by me. Full Name: Mouse McFeathers.

Howard was named after the foreman in charge of a big building project at the farm, at the time when we rescued him as a kitten. Howard Alan Crisp, giving his name to our three kittens Howard, Alan, and Crispy. Full Name: Howard ‘Bonk Bonk’ Bambino.

Wiggins was named after the cyclist Bradley Wiggins, because he was big at the time, and it was better than Froome, which was the other name on the table, and closest to Arthur, which is what I wanted to call him. In the end we let Mouse choose by writing all the names on pieces of paper, folding them up, and picking the one she swiped off the table. Full Name: Wiggins Dangerbean.

Adeline's a great Mom. But definitely a career woman.

So Adeline, I love her and she's awesome.

She's from a great family and has had a nice life. As a toddler she was a bit spoiled and gave her parents a hard time, unlike her siblings. Of course her parents, Elizabeth (another favourite Sim. I should make a post about her life too) and Jun loved her.

She also features in one of my favourite screenshots ever vv

I honestly don't remember much from her childhood so I guess she calmed down. Just enjoying the good days of childhood.

She is very close with her twin brother Noah <33 She also loves their little brother William

Like all my Sims children recently, especially since getting Parenthood, she was raised to be responsible. Her attentive and loving parents definitely impacted her life for the better.

As a teen she continued to just enjoy life. Did well in school and spent lot's of time with family. During this life stage I discovered she loves people! She loves socializing and is definitely an extrovert. Also discovered she's not into guys. I kinda miss when all sims were pan, but I think it's still okay.

She met Rin Hayashi, her future wife, during a family vacation in Mt Komorebi. Rin was upset about something and she consoled her.

Adeline does have the good trait, and I think she is a good person, but her heart isn't overflowing with empathy the way her mother's did. Except for with her loved ones

Adeline and Rin's first kiss was at a nearby pub in Windenburg. Also I just realized they both only ever dated one person, each other! You know, I also want this irl haha. But life isn't a fantasy ._. I can dream

Her relationship with her Dad was once strained, especially as she was such a challenging toddler and because of Jun's personality (a whole other post, my goodness). But things got much better. He was also super supportive and loving.

Man I love these two. They've been together for a while. And they are still super in love.

Adeline and Rin got engaged in young adulthood. Outside the recreation centre in San Myshuno. Beautiful world by the way

So, Adeline loves people. She's from a nice, supportive family, has had a great life, and is extremely fortunate. So what's the career for her? Politician!

She is also a good person. She ended up pursuing the charity branch and would reach the top of the career in adulthood. She loves it! She's also a workaholic. She's spent her career championing a cause for The Foundation Against Mischief. She was successful too, recruiting dozens of Sims and raising thousands of simoleons. It has brought her so much fulfillment and I am proud of her hard work and impact. I just love her!!

Elizabeth got along great with her future daughter in law. Elizabeth was a beautiful person in general. She was compassionate, empathetic, kind, good, loyal and an all round incredible soul. I miss her terribly. This post is not about her lol. But I am so glad to have so many screenshots and to be documenting this 🥲

Adeline used to struggle with burnout. So the truth is i disabled this feature with a mod, by TwistedMexi. But for story telling let's say she got over it.

In young adulthood she dressed like someone in their twenties of course. I love how this Alias Eyeshadow by ADIEC looked on her. It's gorgeous but won't suit every eye shape. This whole look was amazing on her.

Adeline and Rin's wedding was the most beautiful Sims wedding I've ever had—I didn't even have My Wedding Stories—and also the best one. I invited their whole families, put them in this stunning Romantic Garden Park by lilsimsie, donned them in gorgeous gowns and, flower crowns!

I love flowers and am dreaming about summer, garden planning, and soon seed starting. Sometimes I think they are so beautiful and magical, I can't believe they're real!!! 🩷💐✨

This is not a wedding post omg. But it was too beautiful. Everyone had a great time too

So, Linda Hamilton is going to be in fifth “Stranger Things” season. As awesome as it is, Duffers said they’re noy going to introduce any new character in the last season.

Firstly, maybe they fuckin lied. They don’t know what they’re doing. They didn’t have a plot. They have a plot but changed it because they got a chance to get an icon in their show. They’re weak, they’re gonna use some supreme nostalgia baiting with her, thus worsening the writing of the show because hey, who cares, look, Linda Hamilton is here doing amazing things. Isn’t she badass? I’m pretty sure that they’re fully able to write a good, strong warrior woman, yes, absolutely.

Seconldy, maybe they told truth and shes gonna play someone who we already know. But whooo? They absolutely are not going to replace someone else with her.

So, thirdly, Suffers are having a hard on on referencing popculture, they’re having a weird relationship with doing that - it’s not that good and rather shallow, it’s just to show that they know things and that they’re nerds, one of those - now - cool ones. It’s kinda like dangling keys in front on an infant. Linda Hamilton is most famous for “The Terminator” franchise, one of the most know stories about time travel. They absolutely are not gonna stop themselves before referencing it in most obvious ways (which, referencing something is not a bad thing just in itself). And after “Back to the Future” being in season 3 there were many theories about how theres gonna be time travel in the next one. But now, that Duffers have miss Linda Hamilton herself, star of one of The Time Travel franchises, they’re gonna be SMART and META about it, because ofcourse.

So fucking fourthly, she’s gonna play adult El (Max?*) from the future. She’s gonna go back in time and help those dumb kids. Or maybe from alternate timeline, but still from the future. Or fuck that, even maybe Els and Mikes daughter, also with powers. New character, but oh, they’re gonna have a badass kid, people are gonna be so emotionally moved because mileven is amazing blah blah. Or maybe there’s gonna be just time jump in the last episode and she’s gonna play grown up El for like five minutes. OR MAYBE even Nancy or Holly, just to be unexpected.

Fifthly? Nah, they just lied about no new characters because money. Like, i know that during writing a story many things can change, maybe they really felt like adding someone new because of how they advanced the plot. But, tbh, it’s the last season, they should restrain themselves, keep the plot thight and focus on character that they have and writing them good, and not wasting time at introducing someone fully new.

Like, i have no faith in this. I’m expecting an trainwreck and gonna enjoy this dumpsterfire. Unless it’s gonna be really bad, in a way that’s not enjoyable.

P.S. Or maybe miss Hamilton is going to have a really minor role, but they started cashing on her and make noise around the show and keep expectations and insinuations high, only to absolutely not deliver, lol.

Voltron was the thing that really popularized the motal purity culture we see nowadays in fandom spaces but for some reason it reared its ugly head BEFORE Voltron.

all I know is that I was in a fandom for a good long while, and by 2016 it was GONE.

around 2014 people went insane with nonsensical fictional moral panic and started harassing all the big name ship artists and around 2015 most of them left the fandom behind because they couldn't deal with the constant harassment and sui baiting. by 2016 there were basically none left.

I'm talking 30+ artist, wonderful art, blogs, aus, headcanons, theories all GONE their blogs deleted and wiped

this behavior in 2012 was completely unheard of and by 2016 it destroyed my fandom. nowadays I'm lucky if the ship gets a piece of art every few months and the brave artists who do post about it still get harassed. it used to be one of the most common ships pre purity culture!! it was a booming community!!

I genuinely have no idea why and how this all started, as Voltron only came out in 2016!!!

I feel like early tumblr was mostly populated by teens and college students who were just recently introduced to queer feminist intersectional social justice concepts after a lifetime of sheltering in the public education system where a lot of that stuff is watered down if it's talked about at all. So you had a lot of overeager young people having their minds opened up for the first time, and then they start parroting feminist theory they heard from one person and only half-understood to other young people, and it keeps losing its nuances and having its points missed or twisted to fit into someone else's ideology and it becomes like a xerox of a xerox of a xerox the more it gets passed along.

And sometimes you'd also have people just making stuff up. Like, they have an idea or a theory, and they think they've hit upon some brilliant epiphany. And because they say it confidently and with a catchy slogan and it kinda makes sense if you don't think about it too hard, people buy it. But it's not supported by any research and if you pull at any of the threads of their logic whatever "truth" they think they divined completely unravels.

Some of those people are probably well meaning and just trying to emulate popular people that they admire who talk about SJ issues. But there's a lot of people who do it just so they can get popular and pretend to be superior to others. A lot of people intentionally set out to become social justice influencers in order to gain people's trust so they can sick them on people they don't like or target people for grooming and abuse and gaslight them into thinking what's happening to them isn't happening and if they speak out their followers will shield them and harass their victims off the internet.

All of this is exacerbated by the fact that people tend to only examine their beliefs on a surface level, so they think that just because they believe in gay rights and abortion they're woke. But the reality is, Christianity permeates so much of western civilization that whether you've ever practiced it or not you are absolutely influenced by it and a lot of distinctly Christian ideas are at the foundation of your whole way of thinking. A lot of people base their ideas of good and evil and right on wrong on their gut reactions rather than evidence of actual harm because Christianity promotes the idea that you're supposed to just know these things intuitively. A lot of people buy into the idea that exposure to "immoral" content taints and corrupts them. If you really want to look at the "immoral" stuff you can convince yourself that it's okay for you because your superior moral fortitude and enlightenment makes you immune to corruption. But you can't trust the common plebs because they're too weak-minded and impure to inoculate themselves against sinful influences, which makes it your duty to campaign to have those influences removed for their own good. A lot of people think being okay with gay sex and sex outside of marriage makes them sex-positive but they still talk about all sex and sexual expression as if it's inherently dirty and sinful and degrading and vulgar outside of a select few circumstances in which it's somehow divorced from lust to make it a pure expression of Divine Love.

And that's how you end up with the extremely toxic culture of 2010s tumblr, before the NSFW purge led to most of the people who were like this fleeing to twitter.

So yes, prior to V0ltron people were using garbage social justice arguments to attack ships for being "problematic". But also, people were using those arguments to attack anything and everyone they didn't like to make it a moral issue so their petty dislike could feel more like an objectively moral stance.

There was an entire blog dedicated to listing all the reasons why you shouldn't like this actor/writer/director/whoever, sometimes for legitimately scummy things they did, which people who stanned them might not have known about. But most of the time for really petty reasons, or stuff that was made up or interpreted disingenuously. I think the creator of that blog even admitted that she lied to herself that it was about spreading awareness and discouraging celebrity worship and parasocial relationships. It just felt good and made her feel better about herself to pick apart and find fault in other people and things that people liked and act like she was morally superior for not liking them. Or at the very least she admitted that despite her intentions that ended up being the primary purpose it was used for by the people who contributed to it and she regretted fostering that culture and getting sucked into it herself.

I think what made V0ltron different was the fact that it was so deliberate and coordinated. Like, there was an actual group of masterminds who weren't just having emotions and then using moral reasoning to justify their emotions and the inappropriate ways they were acting out over them. They were fully aware that they were co-opting SJ rhetoric and combining it with puritan rhetoric in order to demonize a totally vanilla ship in service of the righteous crusade of canonizing their own ship. And they convinced a lot of useful idiots to adopt the beliefs they were faking sincerely. And now those people are passing those beliefs along and normalizing them for the next generation and telling them not to listen to us Millennials who already went through this with the Satanic Panic/Don't Ask Don't Tell/Abstinence Only Education era.

kal ho na ho is playing... This is the worst song I could have played at this hour. but what is time? It is slipping, and all I see is a heap of it behind my back. Lately, I am more aware of all my present turning into the past. Like how our anniversary filled my heart with joy and slipped past my fingers. This second, too, is slipping away no matter how tightly I cling. All these moments, I have this fear that my brain is not what it used to be. And we both know this is a well-founded belief. I am having trouble framing sentences, and this is making me feel a little insecure about it all. The issue is that the more I am aware of it while speaking & the more I focus, the more uncoherent the speech is. This reminds me of when we took off braces and how tough it was to say s & x. but add to the mix - confusing closely related words together. idk how many please bear with me I can beg out of him. My god.

hmm. i’ve almost entirely lost my appetite over the past few days. i’ll consume less than 500 calories and even that will feel like too much. that’s not good. i wanted to loose weight to solve a health problem, i really didn’t want to create another on in the process. awesome.

i’ve been taking like half an edible so i’ll actually eat dinner but i really don’t want to rely on that either. weed and alcohol are supposed to be fun once in a while things for me, not something i become dependent on. really don’t like this at all but i currently don’t have any other choice. i was able to eat a bag of popcorn with some cereal in it for dinner but like that’s not enough and yet it was too much and i just. gah i hate it.

depressions getting worse too i’m afraid. it always gets bad in summer tho so i’m not too worried about it. it’s not as bad as last year. then again that’s a tough act to follow. i just get so hot and sweaty and it makes sleeping so hard and it just kinda snowballs ya know. i’m so tired and i just want to stop.

it’s not dissociative yet but i think it’s gonna get there soon. i’m already struggling to keep my room clean. i haven’t been emptying my pockets either when i change clothes. the only thing i’ve been keeping up with is showers really and that’s because i hate being sweaty.

i haven’t even been able to work on my piece for an. event. that i’m writing for that if you don’t follow my hawks sideblog then i shan’t say what the event is. but. yeah, it’s due on the 16th and i just. cant do it and i hate that. reminds me of when i was a kid and couldn’t do anything right.

something else that’s been bothering me is like. okay so i’ve been single like my entire life, right? no big deal. i can handle being alone (this is almost the truth). until i remember like. valentine’s day is actually one of my favorite holidays right? i love the aesthetic, i love the romance. all of it. but i’ve never actually gotten to celebrate it. and i just remembered that and it made me really sad. like no matter what i tell myself. no matter what i do or don’t come to terms with. no matter what i actually want. i know i’m going to stay single. i know i’m never going to actually get to celebrate one of my favorite holidays. and that makes me sad.

and i know i’m staying single because like. i’m not a person people take long term interest in. i never have been and i never will be. the only people who have taken interest are people looking for casual (nothing wrong with that, but i’m not) and like. that sucks. but i also know why.

i don’t know for sure what’s going on with me, be it adhd, autism, both or something else that’s not even on my radar. but like, i need stimulation. some of its touch because i tend to dissociate a lot. some of its movement, that’s why i got the chair i have, so i can rock in it when i need to. but a lot of it? it’s sound. i need something in my background most of the time. usually music. and i really can’t stand headphones and inears for long periods of times. so i have it playing off my phone (i don’t do this in public i am very much capable of shame don’t worry) and like, at full volume. sometimes i use a speaker. other times i need to make the sound. one of my favorite stims is to just blow into my mini harmonica as long and loud as possible. every hates that!! so much that i don’t even get to do it very often.

i’m either way too loud, or way too quiet. i tend to go mute or almost mute a lot, but i still want open communication. do you know how hard it is to find someone who will just be around you when you want company but don’t want to socialize literally at all? everyone always feels the need to fill the silence instead of just. existing. at the same time someone else is.

i also just miss physical contact. like a lot. i used to get a decent amount from friends but now i hardly see them and i just feel so disconnected from everything. i just got my weighted blanket back from the dry cleaners and i’ve just putting the entire thing on my chest to pretend it’s like. a person.

hell, i’ve changed my sleep white noise from just a storm to one that’s got a heart beet and breathing in it because i just can’t do this anymore. that’s so fucking sad and pathetic like what?? the fuck???

my anxiety is getting really bad, too like, i’ll keep feeling like i’ve Done Something Wrong™️ and i have to keep reminding myself that no. i haven’t. you’re not at the job where you were always in trouble because the rules kept changing on a whim without telling you. things are consistent now. you’re not going to get in trouble for things out of the blue now. it’s okay.
