<_< if u did write thk fic what would it be /NOSYASHELL
I'd wanna write a proposal FadelStyle fic based on that one post that was like what if Fadel never gave back Style's wallet and then used it as a ring box, I think it's cute (I wish I could find this post, it was about the wallet and then I think someone in the tags added the thing about the proposal, but I didn't save it cause I'm stupid, if someone knows what post I'm talking about please tell me!)
Wanna write a fic about KantStyle meeting and becoming friends, because I will always be obsessed with their weird ass ride or die friendship
There is a third idea (again, based on a post I saw, and again, I didn't save cause I'm stupid) but it would most likely end up being multi-chapter and probs involve a ship I don't care for which makes it impossible for me to write. I have commitment issues, especially to creative writing, and I can bearly bring myself to write for the ships I do care about soooo... yeah, tis one will stay a dream

nana's note: welll~ it's finally here! Thank you to the people to ask for this, I haven't write it if it wasn't for yall <3. I read it myself, but I'm kind of dyslexic and my first language isn't english so be mindful please! If you notice any misspelling or grammatical mistakes you can let me know! (I'm soo so nervous to publish this lol, it's also my first time writing something kind-of long in english, please be kind <3)
Tumblr media
When you left to America, Bakugou was furious, after all you all have been through, he thought this will unite the group, will unite the both of you.
He was pacing in his room, looking at the floor as he thought of ways to make you stay, damn, he even thought in confessing his feelings for you, thinking it might change something, his last hope.
After what felt like an eternity, he decided to walk towards the common area where he knew he'll find you and ask for a minute of your time. Only to be met with sad expressions and you… nowhere to be seen.
“Sorry man, they already left” said Kirishima and he felt like all of the air of his lungs where punched out. “I saw them standing outside your room for I while, I thought you two talked” Kirishima adds, which only makes Bakugou feel worst.
Eleven years has passed, Bakugou had achieved everything he wished when he was a teenager, He was the number one hero, had a nice relationship with his coworkers, friends and was not insecure anymore and of course… had a beautiful fiancé, patient, funny and smart.
The thought of you leaving still lingered, but he always made sure to push it away, telling himself it was a stupid teenage crush and that he was over it.
“Bakugou!” Kirishima's voice “you're coming tonight, are you?” He asks, looking excited
“Huh? What are you talking about?” The blond asks
“The UA reunion party at Kaminari's! Midoriya will be there, and I heard (y/n) was going” Kirishima says and Bakugou just freezes “you're coming then?”
“Y-yeah- yeah” Katsuki answers, still not processing the whole information correctly, but he nods anyways.
“Great! Do you think you can pick me up?” Kiri asks, trying to keep the conversation going, but Bakugou only nods, lost in thought.
Later that day, Bakugou pulls out in front of Kaminari's house, swallowing hard as he gets out of the car
“Oh man, I'm so excited to see everyone, I've heard (y/n) has a great career in America, and they’re one of the top heroes there, we have so much to catch up on” Bakugou grunts as he hears your name, looking away and mentally preparing himself as he walks inside Denki's place.
He looks around, searching for you but he doesn't see you, making him feel more relaxed, thinking you haven't arrived yet, leaving him time to compose and prepare for your arrival.
Bakugou engaged in a few conversations, with Sero, Mina, Midoriya and anyone he can encounter, trying to take off his mind off… you- there you were, speaking with Iida in a corner, you looked… marvelous, and for a second, the blonde forgot he was engaged.
“Did you hear that?” Denki asks to a Bakugou who was completely lost in you, he shakes his head, slowly starting to walk in your direction, like something was pulling him towards you.
When he sees you looking at him, he let's out a small gasp, reminding himself to act normal as you finish your conversation with Iida to walk towards him.
“Hi!” You say, with that sweet voice, bringing thousands of memories back.
“Hey” Bakugou says back, trying to act normal, calm.
“I heard lots of you lately, congrats on being the number one, you always wanted that” he hears you talk, you sound… happy
“Heh, thanks, it was obvious tho, I am the best” he smiles at your giggle for his comment “h-how have you been?” And like that, two old friends feel like sixteen again, chatting and laughing together.
“You know, I still remember that day” Bakugou hears you say, you were both outside in Denki's backyard, stargazing as you both drink “I stood outside your door, wanting, no- wishing to stay, I even thought of confessing my feelings for you in that moment, thinking it would change something” you whisper, kind of embarrassed to say such an intimate thing, and Bakugou just freezes at your next words “i-… think i never stopped”.
Katsuki doesn’t say anything, he doesn’t even move as he thinks at your words, you… You like him? You were going to stay for him? Everything could have been different, so different.
“Y-you like me?” He asks, turning his eyes at you “i-i'm… I'm engaged” the blonde whispers, mostly to himself as he looks down, thinking what's next
“I-i know” he hears your weak voice “i think I'm just trying to…. Close this cycle” you shift, looking at the sky and taking a sip of your drink
“I'm… in love with you” Bakugou whispers and meets your eyes; your face full of surprise “i-i think I always did” he adds, moving closer to you, looking at your lips and licking his own
“B-Bakugou” you whisper
“I know… damn it” Bakugou whispers and quickly move away, taking your words as a no, feeling rejected and guilty at the same time, he couldn’t do that to his fiancé, it was not ok, what kind of men would he be if-
“W-we can do it… if you want” He stops thinking again at your words, looking at you once again, admiring those lips he always wanted to taste.
Bakugou leans forward one more time, looking at your eyes, silently asking for permission, and when he sees that look in your eyes, fill with desire and eagerness, all the world around him disappears as well as all the problems this kiss will bring to him.
He groans once he crushes his lips against yours, wrapping and sucking on your lower lips eagerly and passionately.
The kiss deepens as he pulls you closer, one hand tangled in your hair while the other wraps around your waist. Your lips move together in perfect synchronization, years of longing and unspoken feelings poured into this single moment. His touch is gentle yet demanding, tender yet passionate, making your heart race with every movement. You can feel the warmth of his breath, taste the sweetness of his lips, and sense the overwhelming love in the way he holds you. Time seems to stand still as you both lose yourselves in this intimate embrace, neither wanting to break away from this perfect moment you've both waited so long to share.
Bakugou pulls away gently, still leaving small kisses on your lips “c’mon to Sparky’s room, please, let’s allow ourself a moment more… intimate” he begs with his eyes, looking at you as he stands up and guides you through the house, ignoring everyone around him.
Once Kaminari's bedroom door closes, he kisses you again with renewed passion, gently guiding you toward the bed.
His hands explore your abdomen tentatively, seeking permission for more, and once granted, he cannot hold back.
He opens his eyes again, the sun entering through the curtains bothering his eyes, Bakugou sighs and looks down at you, laying asleep on his chest as he starts to remember the night before your lips on him, your skin, your warmth- he sighs, closing his eyes again as the guilt starts to sink in.
“Good morning” a voice pulls him away from his thoughts, making him open his eyes again, smiling gently at you.
“Good morning” he says back, his hand moving over your back, caressing it gently under the sheets
“Where’s Denki?” you said, like you suddenly remembered this isn’t your room.
“I made him sleep on his couch after the party was over” Bakugou says and smiles as he hears your laugh, hugging you tightly as you press your head in the crook of his neck.
Oh god. He’s so screwed

idk if you’ve had this question before, but i think it’s pretty much accepted by the frev community on tumblr that robespierre was autistic- what about camille and saint-just? do you think they were neurodivergent? i’m thinking adhd and autism respectively, but i also think saint-just might have been dyslexic. thoughts?
Hello! I agree vm with you on this!!
I see much ADHD behaviour in Camille (and write him as such to be that way in my comic, based on rl friends who he reminds me of) To add to his outward behaviours and choices, some of his personal reflections on his own inability to reign in his up and down feelings, make me feel even more certain on this. I can't think of a stronger testimony than when it's coming straight from the person experiencing it~
I haven't done very much in depth reading on Saint-Just yet (I plan to of course, but I simply haven't gotten around to it! There' so much to read about in Frev XD) but I also get autism vibes from him, from what I've read and contemporary observations of him. I'm less certain about this compared to Robespierre, but only because I'm not super knowledgable about him. I know @saintjustitude has talked about this alot, and I think knows ALOT about SJ, so maybe he can weigh in on the reasons he thinks Saint-Just might be autistic :3
I keep reflecting, in the same way I have with Robespierre, how SJ's behaviour- which when you're autistic, can be so easily misinterpreted- might've been percieved during a time when people were looking for enemies. He tends to be painted in a certain way in pop culture (and this seems to go hand in hand with how people choose to interpret his dynamic with Robespierre). Much like Robespierre, what I have read up about him doesn't really add up to how he seems to often be characterised. So, I'm curious to read up on him in more detail when I get the chance and look at him through the lense of neurodivergence.

I've been thinking about a lot of things recently and one of those thoughts is Kid Icarus so have some headcanons!
Under cut! ⬇️
• The main reason Pit doesn't read is because he is highly dyslexic along with some other reading disability, specifically this is only when it comes to reading and spelling. He definitely knows other languages as talking and memorizing is easy but the letters just shift too much for him to actually read anything
• On that topic, Dark Pit has visual Synesthesia that kid can probably hear colors, I like the idea when a character has a double or clone- that clone ends up with some wires crossed. In this case some untangled and others did overlap. Dark Pit can probably read better than Pit does but not but a lot
• Palutena plays D&D or magic the gathering, I know neither of those games but this just feels right for her
• Speaking of nerdy things, Viridi LOVEEEES biology, like of course the goddess of nature would love bio I'm pretty sure that's canon considering she wrote a thesis on piranha plants. But I'm pretty sure if she could she would teach it to someone willing to learn
• Arlon likes to spend his tea time with Cragalanche since he doesn't say much, they enjoy the quiet together
• I also love the idea that Arlon teaches Dark Pit to read while he's with the forces of nature
• Phosphora always sparks whoever she touches, like those quick sparks due to friction, yeah anytime she taps someone on the shoulder or something they get a little shock
• She also will criticize, critique, or applaud peoples fits. Need advice on what colors you would look good in? She's got you covered. Actually both her and Arlon do this but she's more straightforward with it
• considering Phosphora's physically 16-17 while both Pit's are 13-14, they're siblings. Like they have the Cain instinct (Phosphora and Dark Pit) or Abel (Pit). Viridi has to deal with Phosphora and Dark Pit's shenanigans but as soon as Pit joins it's even worse. Which is why Viridi dumps them with Palutena but that doesn't last very long as it becomes a back and forth who has to deal with these three
• Anyways, Palutena and Medusa had something going on that HAD to be more than friendly or sisterly (I do NOT think of them as sisters btw), this means on an off day when Palutena maybe had one too many offerings Viridi has to hear her crying over that situationship
• I'm gonna add to the fashion police thing with Phosphora and Arlon, Hades also just loves to hate on people's fits when it's ugly, he will never let anyone (cough cough- Pit specifically) live it down
• Thanatos does standup comedy.
That's all for now! I might make more but who knows

You know what, should've done this last month, but heck I'm combining stuff for this month as well so-
Queer and Disabilitiy hcs for PJO characters
(I'll be mostly mentioning physical disabilities, but pretty much all characters are adhd and dyslexic(and ptsd) and will probably add lot as autistic so gdgd.)
Percy
I havnt really thought much on his Sexuality and such, maybe Bi?
Think he at least suffers from some form of asthma/ breathing related disability due to Tarturus. Drinking fire can not be good for your throat, definitely sleep apnea. Maybe back/ muscle problems from strain of holding up the sky? Not sure what that might do to someone tbh hdgd
Annabeth
Same as Percy pretty much, don't think much on her Sexuality and identity before and the same experience in Tarturus and the Sky holding stuff.
Think she also has some what of a permanent injury with her ankle/leg. At least enough to effect how she walks and such.
Also. Autistic, maybe ocd?
Rachel Elizabeth Dare
Aroace. I stand by that.
Also, her visions I feel like could be enough to be considered a disability. Maybe similar to Epilepsy? Since it can happen randomly and she collapses from it and all that. Like yeah it's part of her job description, but still hard to find a human job with that I feel.
Piper
Queer/Unlabeled, pretty much canon.
Leo
Demiromantic Graysexual
Probably some muscle issues and such post death? Or something like Fibromyalgia or Neuropathy
Autistic
Jason
Apagender(Gender Apathetic, just think he really don't care too much on how he's perceived gender wise-) Nebularomanic and Pansexual. Constant confused feeling of "do I like them or are we just really close friends-" feels fitting to him. Gdgdf
Also, canonically needs glasses. I feel probably partly due to getting hit in the head so often fgdf
(Also I could see him with visual snow/ static)
Maybe heart problems related to the use of electricity effecting his body? Like POTS or something hdgd
Also. Autism.
Nico
Gay(canon)
Similar lung problems as Percy and Annabeth cause Tarturus. Probably more issues related to being in a death coma in a jar. When he shadow travels/uses his powers too much he passes out cause of low electrolytes and blood sugar(cue Gatorade and Kitkats)
(most demigod abilities uses your electrolytes and sugar/carbs but powerful ones like shadow traveling where your form literally shifts uses more. In this essay I will-)
Also. ️Tism✨️
Will
Bi(canon)
I do love the hard at hearing hcs ngl hdgdf
After tsats, probably has same lung issues.
When using his healing also feel he uses a lot of his own needed electrolytes/vitamins and such which can give him a deficiency depending on how often he's doing it
Also Tism
Kayla
Aroace(I can not explain why if feel this fits but I do)
Type 1 Diabetes. Uses Insulin pump, Will has to stay on her case about keeping up with it fsgdg
Lee
He/They
Panromantic Graysexual
For the short time after, had complications from an injury from the Drakon fight.
Michael
Demi
Tism(especially sensory issues with sounds)
Jake
Queer(canon? We know he came out but nothing else. So you know what? I give him Queer label cause I can and feel like it'd fit him.)
Honestly probably so many problems from injuries. My man was in a full body cast guys.
Tbh, feel like all the Hephaestus cabin is Autistic. Feel in my bones.

Jahid al jazirat aldaayiein . . . the infamous son of Jafaar
one of the first pieces of clothing Jay asked Evie to make him was an auradon high sorta letterman jacket with his tourney number and big letters on the back saying “of the isle”, showing that though he doesn’t like how things were on the Isle, he is still proud of how he got where he is/enduring it and getting past it.
has a severe problem with kleptomania. will steal stuff and won’t realize until he’s a ways away from wherever he stole.
only other VK ( besides Alina, yes i made an OC cause who's gonna stop me ) who can sneak up on Mal without her knowing/realizing he’s there.
part genie and doesn’t discover it until after meeting Aziz, Aladdin’s youngest son, and being told more about Agrabah and other stuff.
telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and snake shifting, to be exact. maybe teleportation i dunno
he plays the drums. he found out about them through someone on the tourney team and has been in love since then. he uses them as a way to release stress.
he’s low-key dyslexic or smthn. i could see carlos helping him a lot back on the Isle and just getting more help in auradon.
but, he’s also hella smart. like he’s very emotionally perceptive, despite growing up with a piece of shit and neglectful father. and he retains verbal quantitative information wayyy better than visual quantitative information
Jafar has tried to arrange marriages for Jay with those on the Isle who might be able to have wealth in Auradon, but it never worked out.
He's tried multiple times to pair Jay off with Mal.
pranks galore don’t get me started!
holds a grudge and is BIG abt getting his get backs man
he’s very persuasive, manipulation and reading people for the win, which is mistaken for flirting a lot. it is only sometimes true.
gets into fights for fun
is way more loyal than he’d ever admit. like. he’ll say he’s ruthless and does whatever it takes to get what he wants, but he’ll be the first to beat up someone who hurt his friends.
eventually gets a few tattoos to match with the core 4 & some for himself
is a member of a club/gc with other AKs ( and future VKs that come over ) that centers abt teaching the kids their heritage in/from agrabah
scarily good memory
everyone thinks cause he’s a flirt that his charm works on everyone but the core 4 are so tired of this agenda like bro-
carlos and mal especially. this two are so tired of his shenanigans and are very verbal abt it.
evie loves a good joke and likes to play along but carlos has definitely whacked jay with newspaper or smthn at least twice now T-T
able to lie to anyone but the core four
iago is loyal to him, and raised him more than his father
To Be Continued . . . if i decide to add more

while i'm feeling stabby let's talk about action scenes in the percy jackson show (bc i refuse to let this go i refuse i do)
bc the actions scenes otherwise were not unfortunately memorable for me i'm going to be talking about the first and last ones and why they don't work both on a cinematic level but also on a character level. did i want to address the disappointingness of the st louis arch fight? yes. but literally cannot remember it beyond the fact that it was disappointing. which says a lot imo.
so. let's start with the mrs. dodds fight shall we?
i'm going to say it. taking away the sequence where percy assumes that he's wrongfully in trouble kills a bunch of subtle character work in the series.
in the books percy has a short monologue at the beginning where he starts off with "am i a troubled kid?" and so the lead up to mrs. dodds attacking him does several things. we, the reader understand that percy didn't (consciously) do anything, so we feel the unfairness when he's pulled aside - this scene asks us, the readers, to sympathize with the kid, not the authority figure. it sets up a fundamental theme in the books, that authority figures, and more specifically adults, can be challenged, can be wrong, can be terribly unfair to children. and this is important considering the protagonist of this story is dyslexic and has ADHD???
and they take it out. and it's really really galling.
there's so many other things that i could say about the character work in this scene. so many, like the fact that mrs. dodds' monologue about the gods is misinterpreted at first to be about the school - setting up the connection between the school administration unfairness and the gods unfair attitudes towards their children. like the moment when percy thinks that it might have been his ADHD acting up when mrs. dodds got up the stairs quicker than humanly possible. there's also less foreshadowing for mr. brunner being chiron, like the pen turning into a sword isn't even properly shown hello the pen suddenly having magical properties could be completely divorced from mr. brunner gifting it to percy.
there's just. a lot. of character work I'M LITERALLY SCREAMING IT'S NOT EVEN A HARD SCENE JUST PLEASE WHY IS THE SHOW ALLERGIC TO TENSION LIKE PLEASE
but they don't add in the conversations, they don't add in the moment of self-doubt, they don't add in mr. brunner. mrs. dodds just approaches menacingly. in broad daylight. like sir. the mist can cover a lot but it showed ares as a kidnapper. it doesn't make that much sense that it completely erased people's perception of mrs. dodds. like please.
(also idk if this is disney, but i think that it was incredibly frustrating that they really just removed percy's being treated as a delinquent and as a troubled kid. the show begins with the monologue but the monologue is kickstarted by percy being at "Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York." HELLO??? you could have had the exact same monologue but you change it for subpar themes????)
ok so it doesn't work on a character level.
does it work cinematically?
HELL NO.
this scene has already been torn to shreds and back (BUT NOT ENOUGH) so i'll be short. EVEN THE SPY KIDS HAS IMPACT SEQUENCES. ONES THAT LOOK REALISTIC MIND YOU. there's no impact. percy isn't pushed down by mrs. dodds, he just. trips? ig? silently? without any noise? ahahaha the lack of noise??? someone else has already mentioned the lack of noise but yeah once you hear (or don't hear) it, you can't un-hear it.
ahahahaha
ok but surely the show improved as they went on, as the filmed more etc etc. sure. but like. also no. (and also though i'm sure they did film these episodes in order lets also keep in mind that filming is not always linear)
ARES FIGHT SCENE WOOOOO LET'S GO
ok i did lose the video (i looked for it i swear, i took 30 min trying to look for it, which really isn't that long but yeah) but a lovely tumblr user here (i think i know who it was but i don't want to be embarrassingly wrong) edited the ares's fight with his internal monologue and an awful recorder rendition of that one song from the titanic and it really does encapsulate my thoughts. but yeah if you aren't familiar with the video.
when i was watching the final episode i swear i was trying to turn all critical brain functions off but it was really hard for me not to notice the increasing amount of time that ares just lets percy get up. i just watched dune (second part) so i was spoiled for good fight sequences but something i did notice was that in dune, when there is a pause in a fight it is FOR CHARACTER REASONS. the characters are DELIBERATELY NOT ENDING THE FIGHT. and that was not the impression i got from ares. it really wasn't.
and that took away from his authority/menace as a god ngl.
so yeah was the fight better than the dodds fight. 100%. like 500%.
does that make it a good fight sequence.... ehhhhhhhhhhhh....
(why did the scenes with luke have more tension than the ares fight hello)
and character wise. assassination. all the assassination. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CULMINATION OF PERCY'S CHARACTER ARC AHHHHHHHH. sorry. but like this was the point at which percy decides he's done running. and stands up to ares with all the taunts and quick thinking that we know him for. unfortunately the show thought itself better and erased that theme ahaha.
so this really is just a fight for the helm. no big reveals, no reading the actions and emotions of a god, no strategy, no trying to get to the water and ares stopping him. like
WOULD IT BE SO HARD TO JUST FOLLOW THE NICE LOVELY SCRIPT THE BOOKS GAVE YOU FOR EXAMPLE: shot of percy looking at the water, shot of ares looking at percy looking at the water, maybe a pan to the water here, percy moves towards, ares blocks. YOU CAN IN FACT SHOW BATTLEFIELD STRATEGY IN A MOVIE. BC BATTLE STRATEGY RESULTS IN STRATEGIC FIGHTING. WHICH IS WHAT THE VISUAL MEDIUM IS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD AT. RIGHT? RIGHT???
ahahaha sorry just feeling stabby i don't really know why. anywho off to the senate meeting. i'm running a bit late but i did rsvp with a knife sooooo

Writing Advice: Lore Chapters
I’m sure we've all read them before, an entire chapter dedicated to just lore, they aren’t normally fun to get through and you might even skip them (don’t worry, I won’t tell). However, despite the hatred for these chapters, why are they common? I think these chapters are common because we writers tend to get stuck in our lore and we forget what's important, and what's made just for us.
You see when creating a new story, there’s gonna be a lot of lore. However, much of the lore which gets created isn’t needed for the reader and trying to figure that out is a bit challenging. This all depends on how much of a world-builder you are. If world-building comes naturally, then you could create everything from the flora to the weather system which will help determine what your islands look like.
If world-building isn’t something you enjoy, then the lore you create might just be enough for your story but that’s it, however, there’s still gonna be lore that’s not necessary even if world-building isn’t your forte.
You’ll need beta reader's help to determine which part of the lore feels necessary and which feels filler but let’s continue.
Lore chapters are most of the time created as an afterthought. When a writer forgets to add in some lore, and they go back to a spot where it’ll be prevalent, stick it in the book and move on. You can figure out when this happened because if you skip these chapters, you won’t miss much. If you, the writer forgot to mention some lore, and none of your beta readers are confused, you probably don’t need to add in the lore if no one else asked for it.
Lore chapters also aren’t what people tend to care about when reading your story. In fact, from my point of view, people only start to care about the lore at certain points. One, if there are blatant lore mistakes. While reading a story for the first time, the reader will get a basic understanding of the lore. Just enough to follow the story, but not so much where they’re an expert. If there’s an obvious plot hole within the lore, they’ll notice and care about the lore a bit more as even from their basic understanding, some parts of it aren’t making sense.
Two, when they’re invested in your story. If you have dedicated fans, who read each of your books, talk about your books, make fan-fiction, art, etc. Those fans will start paying more attention to your story's lore. These fans are great, but sadly, don't make up the majority of your reader's base. These fans might not mind the lore dump chapters as they’re already invested so if you want to write for them, go all for it. If you still want to keep your average reader engaged you might want to change a few things and I got a few things you could try.
Spreading out your lore: This will take practice because it’s also easy to figure out when the author adds a paragraph of lore that can be easily skipped through. However, having lore sprinkled throughout your story will do a better job of keeping your readers engaged with your world, instead of having it all in one chapter.
Try to avoid big paragraphs of text: If you have a paragraph that takes nearly half of the page if not more, a lot of readers, myself included will probably skip over it. I’m not dyslexic, but I need separations in my paragraphs. Reading a wall of text does tend to make me start to blend words together and I won’t absorb anything. While there’s no rule on how big a paragraph should be, I’d try not to make mine no more than four sentences long, keep in mind a sentence can be as short as three words, or twenty.
(Now for a wall of text after I said I try to avoid them).
Try and explain the lore over multiple chapters: If it’s important to know the history of your story, and world, don’t put all of that history in one chapter, spread it out, and even retell it a few times to make sure there’s a better chance your readers will know what’s going on. While it’s the reader's fault, if they skip over sections of your story and get confused. They won’t blame themselves for what they did as they’ll believe they were justified in skipping parts of your story. I’m not saying you need to change how you write to appease these readers, but try having the lore be told in a few chapters might help. The best thing about this method is even for readers who don’t skip over lore chapters and would've read the same lore a few times now. They can skip over a section they already know and won’t have to worry about missing anything important because they already know it. This kind of writing is a bit more advanced as you have to juggle between people who skip lore chapters and people who don’t. Beta readers are great at figuring out where to cut or add your lore.
Make those chapters interesting: This might seem a bit harsh, but lore is history, and not everyone likes history. When they read lore, they're reading history and not what’s going on in the story. It doesn’t matter what kind of lore you have, or how important it is, if it feels dry compared to every other aspect of your story, people will skip it. Not to mention if it feels like the plot of your story gets halted in these chapters, people will skip them because they want to continue with the story. Beta readers are a great way to figure out where the lull is coming from and tell you what they found exciting leading up to the lore dump. You can figure out where to go from there. What I normally do is have character growth in between those lore chapters. Have the characters discover something about themselves, have a relationship grow, or even have it break during these sections. Just add something in the background to keep the reader engaged, but make it where they can’t skip over the lore because if they do that, they might skip something else.
Try not to have lore chapters near the end of your story: If your story is building up to fighting the big evil, and there’s a lore chapter just slapped in the middle...yeah, that's not great. Even if it’s really important. If the readers are gearing up for a fight, or whatever the ending is and it gets paused...readers won't be happy with it. These lore chapters are normally important because it’s where the main character will discover something that’ll change the outcome of the climax of the story...but if it’s halting the buildup, it doesn’t matter how important it is, people will skip. Think of it like riding a roller coaster, if the coaster is slowly reaching its highest point, you don’t want it to stop just before it gets there and have it explain to you the history of said coaster.
Overall, there are multiple ways of dealing with lore-heavy chapters, and again, beta readers are your friends. If you’re unsure if the lore chapter you have is needed or not, send out different versions of your text, one without the lore-heavy chapter and one without and see what the reaction you get. If the people who didn’t have the lore-heavy chapter were able to follow along just fine, but those who did have the lore chapter said they skipped over it and were still able to follow along, unless you really want to keep the lore, you probably don’t need it.

Hi There!
You want some links?
We got ya Tik Toks and ya YouTubes and ya Instagrams,
We got Blue Skies and Spotifies, and a silly little Discord...
Oh, and this one might taste a little like Apples.
Oh, and I should mention our lovely photographer. (edit: no matter how many times I add our Tik Tok link, Tumblr removes it automatically, and it turns out that it's because it's automatically registering the link with "mailto:" no matter how many times I remove it, which even the Tumblr code itself knows is not a valid address, and thus removes the link. I will try to figure out how in the fuck to fix this. In the meantime, HERE IS OUR TIK TOK: https://www.tiktok.com/@black.cat.coaliti YOU WILL NEED TO COPYPASTE IT YOURSELF FOR BAD CODE REASONS.)
Check back here in the future for updates, upcoming shows, and FAQs. This post will change often.
Who are we?
I am so glad you asked. We're Black Cat Coalition, a local band to Orange County, California. We self-describe as "post-grunge experimental." You'll have to listen to a couple songs to see what we mean, or come to a couple shows, jam out, and really find out what we mean.
Oh-- wait, you wanted to get to know us. Well, then you'll just have to click that read more button for our individual profiles.
Tumblr media
i’m raven, i’m the lead guitarist. my influence stems from a multitude of genres, with bands such as nirvana, RATM, pierce the veil, suicidal tendencies, 200 stab wounds, and so on. i’ve recently gotten super into a few local bands, such as laced and hatespeech. i grew up on punk, hardcore, emo, and grunge. i also have a soft spot for twenty one pilots, who were the first band i truly fell in love with. razz and i had ideas of starting a band in spring of ‘22, but it really started when moose proposed the name “black cat coalition” in the summer. i can also do backflips.
Tumblr media
I'm Razz :D I am the Bassist, lyricist and resident dyslexic of the band. I am a lover of all things bass with taking inspo from bands like Muse, Primus, and Cake. I founded Black Cat Coalition in the summer of 2022 with Raven. Fun Fact!! we got our name "Black Cat Coalition" after Moose showed their brother a meme with a lot of black cats and he responded with "what kind of black cat coalition is this D:"
Tumblr media
I'm Moose, I'm literally Moose. I'm the lead singer of the band, lyricist, and green. These people are my friends and they love that I'm green
Tumblr media
My name is Sage, like the plant. I've been playing drums since December of 2022 for Black Cat Coalition with influences such as Dave Grohl, Insane Clown Posse, and Steward Copeland. As a resident graphic designer; I did not create the Black Cat Coalition aesthetic, I did develop it and I'm the man behind the other social plugs. Fun fact, I became able to perform live after a year of practice!
Tumblr media
I'm Zo. I'm the rhythm guitarist, one of our vocalists from time to time, and one of our many lyricists. I also am the main Tumblr blog manager. (Yippee!) I was a late arrival to this band; everyone else here found me at an Asian market cafeteria at random one day and took me in like a lost kitten. I'm the oldest and shortest band member, but also the newest at their instrument. That said, I'm trained in vocal coaching, and my voice is definitely built for styles like jazz and swing. I grew up on bands like Evanescence, Green Day, Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance, and a bunch of other early 2000s stuff. Dates me, doesn't it?

i'm trying to get over my deep embarrassment about being So Bad At Math and let myself accept it and work on it and really think about it again—
which is hard! because every time i even bring up my struggles and/or the idea of having dyscalculia i get shut down like "no you're too smart, you can do math, you're just anxious, you're just overthinking it"
... yeah, i can do math, but i do it slowly and by shortcuts and memorization and being good with calculators and by redoing everything five times as fast as i can to catch the inevitable stupid mistakes. i can do math like the average dyslexic person can read.
i'm a cashier and i can't count people's change back to them using that subtraction(?) trick. i mess up too often.
i'm overthinking it because i keep having to relearn significant parts of multiplication and division every year or two.
—and, uh, anyway, and now that i'm thinking about it again after getting back into therapy and all that. working actively on self-acceptance. it just hit me that the number i have the most trouble with is 1.
like of course i didn't want to admit that. one. one! can you even explain to me what one is? probably not! it's too obvious! it's intuitive, right?
well. not for me.
1 is actually a very abstract number. when you're looking at stuff in the real world—counting beans, slicing pies, whatever—you're actually arbitrarily grouping billions of atoms and molecules into a "single" object. you're one person, but you're also trillions of cells.
i do fine with the real world, but not so well with abstract quantities. my intuition is concrete. in the real world you can't multiply things. that would violate the conservation of mass. you just move things around (or compare them to each other). and practically speaking you're always moving around lumps of stuff and an atom or a crumb here or there doesn't matter. 100 vs 99 is not a big deal. 1 vs 2 is. (sometimes i get very upset about fractions.)
i can't hold the idea of "one" as a pure quantity in my mind very well. i think of everything as a set. (i was very happy to encounter set theory in middle school. genuinely ecstatic.) i have to visualize 1 as something tangible, give it a shape. a dot. a circle. a square. the problem is, 1 is really small. either i'm picturing it as something big enough to have other stuff in it—too big—or as basically an empty set, which ends up resulting in a lot of errors because i treat it like 0.
i can think it more easily in binary sometimes—explicitly distinguishing between 1 and 0!—but that means a lot of repetition which i can't keep track of well enough for regular arithmetic. the repetition is worse for my working memory.
idk, it's late and i'm rambling. it's just. this is a disability i have. it's on my mind because i've been struggling really badly with time management and today i really realized that a big part of that is because time management involves constantly doing math. i get to see my little arithmetic mistakes add up to cascading problems in real time.
what's a little 1 misplaced here or there? whoops, that 1 was an hour. 15 minutes is basically the same as 20. oh but 20 is about the same as 30. is there really a big difference between half an hour and an hour? well, i have 60 whole minutes, might as well waste 5. 45 minutes is almost an hour.
15 minutes late is "you no-call no-showed your appointment." 10 minutes late is "your timecard is looking bad. you're on your first warning, after your third one you're getting fired." 5 minutes late is a "tardy," and i've never had a clean attendance record.
it's past 3 a.m. i need to get up at 11. will i get 8 hours of sleep?
do i ever?
this is not a very kind world in which to struggle with simple math.

Hello fellow dyslexic/adhd/others who would like to enjoy fanfics through their ears, I just spent the entire day testing android apps to find one that doesn’t suck as much.
TL;DR - these two T2S, Audify
I feel like I need to share this because 90% the apps don’t even allow a web page as a source, let alone get past the log in page, and I cant be the only one who doesn’t want to download every single fic.
“Oh, but doesn’t android have a built-in text-to-speech function in the accessibility settings?” I hear you ask. Yes, but it sucks ass very badly. Firstly it only reads in the system language, so it doesn’t really work. Second, you need to highlight all that you want it to read, and seeing that I read a minimum of 15k words in a sitting, I’m not gonna do that.
Also I’m broke, I imagine you are too, but even if I wasn’t I’m not paying for this, if I did I wouldn’t even be supporting a human being, so no.
I’ll immediately break your trust with the first point, but it’s what I’ve been doing until now, and now that I know what the android mobile experience is like, I feel the need to include this. The best solution I’ve had so far (which works wonders, let me tell you) is letting Siri read them on the iPad. It’s only doable when I’m at home and it’s still an apple product, so that’s why I began the research. However the positive points are INCREDIBLE so I’m going to ads it to the list because I said so.
First of all it’s built-in and SO EASY to access, you literally just swipe with two fingers and it stars to read. It reads the punctuation, you might think that’s a given and so did I, but no. A question sounds like a question, an exclamation point does why its supposed to do, short sentences sound what they’re supposed to sound like. In apparently all the apps ever created, you won’t find any of it, just flat, monotone voices with flat little pauses. Overall excellent experience 10/10.
Cons: it’s on apple, I consider apple the same as Disney, I would love to not give them more money so that they can make the market increasingly worse. Every now and then a system update will fuck with the tts function and it will be unusable for a while. Sometimes it doesn’t like the text format on some fics. It’s not portable.
Now that we got that out of the way let us get to the meet.
Speechify - it sucks bad. At least the free version, but seen as it costs almost 10€ a month I’m not even going to consider the premium version. Fuck that. You can’t increase the speed, and as somebody who hasn’t watched a single YouTube video on normal speed since they added the function I can’t do that, too slow, I forgot what we were talking about once we get to the end of the sentence. Also you can only use those weird very robotic voices, and they’re not even that many. Don’t recommend. I felt like I had to include it since it was one of the few who allowed browser navigation and well, it’s speechify. Also you can’t t have saved more than 3 “files” per time. Doesn’t have sleep mode.
T2S - cute. It works. Again, no emotions, but it reads what it has to, nice voice selections, easy to use. The premium version adds literally nothing, they’re a good app, what they have, they give. Also you can customise the interface colour if you want. Has the sleep mode. - EDIT: this app allows you to have multiple tabs open at the same time, unlike Audify. - EDIT EDIT: it's waaay better than Audify with pdf files.
Audify - works exactly the same as T2S, but it saves the history and has a bit more customisation for how it reads and what it reads (which you don’t really need for ao3, but if you wanted to read, say, Wikipedia with all the notes and stuff, now you know). Has the sleep mode. - EDIT: the double tap to start reading works slightly better than T2S on websites with weird formatting. But unlike T2S you can only have one tab open - EDIT EDIT: will turn your pdf file into text and will show you just text. If you had things like images or columns fucks for you.
That’s all folks. Now go and be free of your reading impediment, or be free in your multitasking, or whatever you want to do. I’m done, I’ve given my datas to all kinds of shady apps, I need to go do damage control

Any tips on using fonts in ao3?
going to assume you're familiar with the basics — creating a new workskin at Dashboard → Skins → My Work Skins, and selecting a skin on the Edit Work page. if not, AO3 has a tutorial for this
(though skimming the tutorial, it doesn't seem to mention the <span> tag, which is your best friend when it comes to applying styles to a bit of text within a paragraph)
now for the more specific part of this question. also, be warned i'm going to be embarrassingly technical before i actually answer your question.
this is going to sound funny, but i am by and large not a fan of manipulating fonts as a stylistic device. my personal opinion is that what font a text is displayed in should be for the user to decide, both for preference and for accessibility reasons (e.g. there's fonts designed for dyslexic readers). i also tend to find most font changes to be a a bit goofy and immersion-breaking
it's different when i do it, but i'll explain my cope in a second
anyway, the style property you want to change to set in your work skin is font-family. e.g. font-family: monospace will give text a code/"typewriter" look, and on my own site i use "font-family: Newsreader, serif;". (the comma there essentially says 'if you don't have Newsreader installed, any serif font will do)
but as mentioned, i don't like messing with fonts, and in fact, there is no font styling as such in my fic at all. what gives?
(note: im going include mildly spoilery excerpts from my fic, Hostile Takeover)
but basically, i wrap cyn's dialogue in <code> tags, and most browsers will make that monospaced by default, but it leaves the door open for custom userskins to add their own flair to code blocks.
for example, my site puts little boxes around them
Tumblr media
but with all that said, i think i might be taking this question overly literally. i think it's likely you aren't talking specifically about just fonts, and most of the interesting things people want to replicate from my fic aren't about what shape the letters are.
my secret weapon for styling this fic is the humble text-shadow property.
what it does is simple: it creates a copy of the text, and you have four knobs to turn: you can shift it over horizontally or vertically, blur it, and of course change the color
text-shadow: 1px 2px 3px red;
this gives you a copy of the text shifted to the right 1 pixels, down 2 pixels, blurred 3 pixels and colored red.
text-shadow: 1px 2px 3px red, -1px -2px 3px blue;
same deal but now there's another in the opposite directions colored blue, like a chromatic aberration.
you don't have to include the color or the blur if you dont want color or blur.
now i'll run through some real examples
the "pain" effect is what you get when you stack text vertically
Tumblr media
text-shadow: 0 -3px 0px, 0 3px 0px;
the "beyond the grave" effect is text stacked horizontally
Tumblr media
text-shadow: 2px 0px 0px;
the famous "i want you destroy you" text is of course colored, and here i offer an actual tip
Tumblr media
you can predict the offsets, but the color is special
text-shadow: 2px -1px 0px #da38;
full explanation here, but basically, when you write a color with four values, the first three are RGB, but the last is the opacity. i think this matters because, if the earlier part of this post didn't make it clear, i care about readers getting a good experience no matter how they choose their custom styles (within reason, ofc)
by making the color slightly transparent, it blends with the background color, means whether you read with a light them or dark, it meets you half way
Tumblr media
(try removing the transparency on that shade, and it's a pretty harsh contrast on both modes — though part of that might be that i made it super saturated to compensate for the transparency.)
i have some complaints about how ao3 handles css, and one of them is that it forbids you from using the very convenient filter: blur() function. to work around this, i cooked up a very "we have blur at home" solution
Tumblr media
text-shadow: 0px 0px 6px, 1px 1px 3px, -1px -1px 3px; opacity: 50%;
(it looks much better on my site, where i can filter: blur all i like)
one of the reasons this sucks is that without a doubt the biggest limiter on doing really complicated stuff with text shadows is that they don't stack.
you'll notice that when the "pain" effect shows up, the "blur" effect disappears.
this matters most for what is definitely the most striking and involved use of text shadows in the work: the big man himself
Tumblr media
the basic principle here isn't that special. the illusion of depth is accomplished by increasing blur and opacity the 'deeper' the text is supposed to be. the biggest trick here is that instead of the 'px' we've been using everywhere before, the offsets use 'em', which is a unit that relative to the font size.
but there is a nuance. you see:
text-shadow: 0px 1px 0px, 0px -1px 0px, #fd64 2px 2px 2px, #fd68 2em 1em 3px, #fd65 4em 2em 5px; text-shadow: #fd64 2px 2px 2px, #fd65 2em 1em 5px; text-shadow: #fd6 2px 2px 5px, 0px -3px 0px, 0px 3px 0px, #fd68 2em 1em 3px;
the "translate" looks like a combination of the new effect and the pain effect, but i had to give it a special style, specifying both by hand.
if you want to layer things, it will get out of hand, and if you ever opt to revise the specific colors or values, solver help you.
also, this doesnt show up anywhere in HT (yet), but i've used it in the past — only setting the blur of a text-shadow lets you give words an 'aura', and it's a neat and simple effect
Tumblr media
(excerpt from Eifre Quest, an original work of mine from years ago. i have mixed feelings about it)
sorry if that was a long ramble or self-indulgent, but hopefully something there was new or helpful.
thanks for asking!

Hiii, I read your post about the stiff dialogue in LO, and I wanted to add my own two cents!
I myself am a person with a nice case of dyslexia (it will most likely show in this message). While I can’t speak for everyone with dyslexia, I pesonally cannot and will not publish anything ”official”, without spell checking it to hell and back. This is mostly because I’m hyper aware of this being one of my ”shortcomings”.
I also wanted to say, that most of, if not all, people with dyslexia that I know are rather self-consious about it. I just find it a bit unbeliavable that all the misspellings/awkward text in LO are there simply because Rachel has dyslexia. To me personally, it seems to be more a product of laziness and/or indifference.
Of course there is the fact that I’m not working on a long project, and I can usually take my time with my work, so maybe I just have more recourses to be careful. I also want to make clear that I don’t mean to say that Rachel’s dyslexia doesn’t affect her workload at all, but I do think she should have the means to check these things, especially since she is quite successful in the field.
Thanks for pitching in on this! I myself do not have dyslexia, but I do understand the struggle of missing words or misspelling them as my brain tends to move too quick at times for my writing speed to keep up LMAO It happens a lot when I'm writing by hand as I can't handwrite as fast as I can type so words sometimes go missing while my brain speeds ahead 😂
I can get why someone might be a little more self-conscious about typos being pointed out if they're making their comic entirely on their own and for free, or if they're just self-conscious about making mistakes in general (it can be scary to put a piece of work out into the world!) but Rachel is literally the top creator on the platform so there's zero excuse for it to have gone this long without at least a copy editor. And frankly it's still weird that they hire a copy editor at all just for checking typos because that's something that can be done so easily (again, Rachel has 4-5 other assistants per episode, you're telling me NONE of them could do it for her? Oh that's right, because she has them all draw their panels in isolation of one another and then she slaps the dialogue in at the last minute -.- the copy editor she has right now seems like the 'last step' before she submits the comic).
That said, if you go back far enough, you can actually find Rachel's take on correcting her misspellings and it's... frankly way saltier than it ought to be? Like I get it, it might feel like an attack for someone to say "hey, I spotted this mistake!" especially if you're self-conscious about it or are living with a learning disorder that affects your every day life, but when you get over that self-consciousness of making mistakes, it's really not that big of a deal? Like, yeah, it can be really frustrating when people point those mistakes out because it makes you feel bad or reminds you that you're struggling with something like spelling that seems so natural and 'easy' to everyone else, but I find true genuine fans of your work don't point these things out to be mean, just to be helpful. Yes, some people are mean about it, but you can usually tell which ones are the mean ones and which ones are the nice ones.
I've made spelling and grammatical errors in both Time Gate and Rekindled that have been kindly pointed out, and you know what I do when people find them? I thank them for spotting what I clearly didn't and I go and fix it. Because it makes my work better for my audience and my own peace of mind.
Rachel, meanwhile-
Tumblr media
(tiny picture translation:
Question: Why do you have typos?
Rachel's answer: Yes, believe it or not I speak English. (English-New Zealand not English-American) Remember... not everyone cares about spelling. And frankly if go around pointing out spelling mistakes in peoples comics you have an issue. Plus I'm dyslexic you insensitive ass!)
Like... that whole thing is from her FAQ section that she made herself and she's still having a tone of voice that implies she's directing her answer at one specific person as if it was like an anon ask LMAO and really, I get the spirit of what she's saying, it can be pretentious/rude to point out people's spelling mistakes... in an informal or conversational setting. If you're making a comic or writing a book, though, it's basically a bare minimum expectation that you should be using spell check and making sure things are readable. You're making the work for other people to read after all. So her tone in this followed by the whole "I'm dyslexic you ass" bit just feels so unnecessarily hostile over something that was an innocent mistake and happens to literally everyone. Like, she really do be hurting her own feelings in her own FAQ that she made on her own time, this isn't the only question in there that reeks of 2000's edgy era "fuck you for asking" energy lmao
That said, to be fair, that is from her 2000's edgy era, so I'm hoping she's grown out of that at least slightly, but judging by how she's been managing her comic the past few years, it's clear she still isn't bothering to employ simple tactics to keep mistakes from slipping through the cracks and would rather lean on her dyslexia as an excuse rather than a reason. Dyslexia is a reason for typos, but where it becomes an excuse IMO is when she blames her dyslexia and then doesn't fix the mistakes that arise due to her dyslexia or do anything to make her life easier going forward.
Again, she's hired a copy editor, so if they're a permanent part of the team now, that will hopefully make things better. But why weren't they one of the first people hired when it's clear that Rachel could really use the help to ensure her comic comes out being the best version of itself it could be? It's like she's been literally shooting herself in the foot for the last 5 years.
It really feels lazy and, frankly, disrespectful. I know that might be a hot take or seem a little overblown to use that word here, but if you're going to be creating a comic for an audience - and expecting that audience to read your comic each week and in Rachel's case be expected to pay money for it - then you should be doing them the service of making it worth reading and sticking around for. If you can't even do so much as spell check your work - or go back and edit the errors when they arise - then that really goes to show how little you care about your own audience because you're not willing to put in the time and effort to even just fix a typo, let alone give them something worth coming back to and paying for each week. Sure, not everyone pays for the comics, but those viewership analytics are still valuable and it's very clear at this point that they're dropping rapidly week after week, and yet Rachel is doing barely anything to help turn things around.
Lore Olympus disrespects its audience in more ways beyond just the typos, of course, but the typos feel like the shopping cart litmus test - it costs next to nothing to resolve the issue, so if you still choose not to, it speaks to how little effort you're willing to put in to do something helpful for others that already only requires the bare minimum to do.
Of course, much of this is all speculative so take it with grains of salt, but judging by her responses to her own audience way back in the day, it really paints a picture of how Rachel views her audience. It makes it feel like she doesn't release her work into the world to genuinely entertain people or to find others who may connect and resonate with the work, she does it purely for herself and herself alone. That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in and of itself, it's pretty difficult to keep up a project if you aren't doing it for yourself to some degree (and you shouldn't create a comic just to earn an audience because that's just setting up unfair expectations for yourself lol), but in Rachel's case, it feels more like she's emulating the same edgelord energy of her "boss babe" Persephone - if you don't love every part of her and her work regardless of its genuine flaws, no matter how easy said flaws would be to fix, then you should just shut up and read her work and/or pay for it anyways because she should be allowed to do whatever she wants and if you don't like it, then you're an insensitive ass.

do you have any recommendations for dick and jason (together or separate, both is fine) comics for someone who’s just starting to read them? i have some knowledge of the characters and batfam and i’ve read several batman comics, but i never really got into the robins-after-they-were-robins comis so i’d like to start with dick and jason…thank you so much :)
so firstly, i deffo reason waaay more jason than i do dick. most of my dick recs will be things i haven't finished reading or haven't read more than like 3 random back issues of XD
dick:
any nightwing solo is a good place to start (okay, not any, but you can find comics on readcomiconline and with an adblocker the site is useable. peruse the different nightwing runs, if it sucks drop it)
i've heard spyral is good, i think the comic might just be called "grayson"
pretty much any titans comic pre-2003 would be dick grayson (typically as robin, but not always)
there are some post 2003 titans comics with dick too
i like "the titans" (1999) the most, personally (my tip for finding the right titans run, because there are so many, is to look at the font of the title. then look at the author)
Tumblr media
honestly if you're fine just jumping in and figuring it out as you go (which you kinda need to be), i'd sooo heavily rec that run to start you with
and, of course, there's the outsiders run from 2009 with dick and roy <3
jason:
i dont really have any robin-era jason recs, but he wasn't robin for too long, so if you're interested it's not too hard to read some!
death in the family (comic where he dies. it's weird and also islamophobic iirc, buut it's important to his backstory. not too long. im a slow slow slow heavily dyslexic reader and it only took me 2 days)
under the red hood (comic where he comes back. a longer read, but VERY fun. villain jason and competent jason. you understand the framework for all of his post-robin/post-resurrection drive)
lost days (also pretty long. i go back and forth on if i personally liked it. but it covers the time between him coming back to life and him returning to gotham- because he stayed gone even after he came back)
red hood and the outlaws n52 (i think it came out in 2011)- this comic sucks, but it's kinda fun! i really enjoy it. if you're fanfic-inclined you might like it (because it prompts a lot of fun ideas without ever presenting very many on its own and never doing anything with them). it's the origin of the jason/roy thing which i am so obsessed with
red hood/arsenal (continuation of the last comic, now without The Girl.. buut kori was written really misogynistically so, congrats kori on getting free
then there's red hood and the outlaws rebirth (which is a different team and some ppl like this comic more), then there's red hood: outlaw, i forget if there's more or whatever the order is. there's also a webtoon with the same naming scheme. im collecting the physical comic, you'd think i'd know this. but these runs are LONG.
for current comics, there's "task force z" which came out like a year or two ago, and then "joker: the man who stopped laughing" which is mostly abt the joker but also about jason hunting him and trying to kill him
jason & dick, together:
honestly i dont read too much stuff with the both of them in it? idk. jason doesn't team up with many batfam ppl on the reg, i guess. like they're never really On A Team together. most of their comics together are from Events. but dick appears in task force z, a little red hood and the outlaws too, and jason is in a little bit of outsiders. like they have cameos, i mean.
there was a nightwing annual (i think 2021) about jason & dick teaming up.
they were both in robin war (but that's the conclusion of "we are robin") (not too long, i think it took me about a week to read all 3 paperbacks)
other ppl feel free to add on!

i mean this in the kindest way possible but how the hell do you write so much so fast without getting burnt out ???? im kind of terrified
KGADSHSKJGD lmfao. Thank you I am always glad to instill terror in others as a special treat.
I think it's a couple of things.
1. ADHD hyperfocus. If I'm in a good headspace without any distractions, I can plow straight through a couple of pages at a time.
2. "Write what you want to read." No one else is going to write about Jetstorm/Thrust or zombie robots so I guess I gotta do it myself grrrr.
3. My method for writing chapters, maybe? I usually start out scenes with a few lines as concept placeholders (i.e. "thrust gets bit by a zombie oopsie daisy cheetor bad kitty go BRRRR") (this is not paraphrased this is LITERALLY what the line was), then I start layering things on top. It will go from ten words to maybe three hundred in the first draft. A third pass will see it turn into a thousand words as I add more onto it. By the time the fourth pass comes along it might double that. I'll also start looking to insert specific imagery, themes, and potential Chekhov nonsense (foreshadowing my beloved). Last phase is to go over it to see if I can catch spelling/grammar errors, but I am very dyslexic so I miss a lot. :(
4. I am actually not that fast of a writer haha. The Long Way Around had its first drafts made in the spring of 2020 and These Forsaken Few had its first outline finished in the fall of 2020. I've just been doing the third method for a really long time to get the chapters to the point where I can then power through the final drafts/add some extra scenes on top to beef them up, which is probably why it seems like I write super fast. Short stories are easier and quicker to do than regular "chapters" that have to adhere to some sort of continuity.

okay i don't normally add propaganda directly onto polls, but i just want to point out that 1) the tv tropes page for the granada sherlock holmes series has jeremy brett listed under "mr. fanservice" on the basis of being "one of the prettiest holmeses ever"
Tumblr media
2) the book "bending the willow" by david stuart davies is quoted in the original post's propaganda. i would like to point out that in that same book, the author basically said that jeremy brett is so hot that not only do women lust after him but he also turns other men gay:
Tumblr media
i'm genderfluid which means that i can confirm this on both accounts
3) he was bipolar and dyslexic, and he was very open about his bipolar disorder and did a lot to try and raise public awareness and encourage others to get help. in september 1995, merely a few days before he died, he appeared on a radio show in support of a charity meant to help those with bipolar disorder and stated the following:
“And it is my success which gave me the courage to admit publicly that I had this illness, as an encouragement to others that it had not stopped me from being employed and leading a fulfilled and successful life. It is an illness which can be treated and managed. It comes and goes, and in between the bouts of illness people are well.”
okay maybe this isn't entirely relevant to the poll but i think it's extremely sexy of him
4) he loved sherlock holmes so, so much. he came up with his own headcanons about holmes' life, extensively studied the canon, made it his goal to become the most authentic and faithful version of the character that the world had ever seen. he had a 77-page document he called "the baker street file" that he used to keep track of everything to do with the character of sherlock holmes. when he first got the script for the granada holmes series, the inaccuracies in it made him get into an argument with the script editor over it. when the editor told him to "just get on with it", he flipped the table over. it's thanks to him that we have a sherlock holmes adaptation that's so true to arthur conan doyle's wonderful stories, and he was also so dedicated to the role that he kept acting as long as he possibly could even when he became physically ill. again, maybe this isn't that relevant, but i wanted to include it.
5) he was good friends with arthur conan doyle's daughter and actually sought out and received permission from her personally to allow holmes to give up his cocaine addiction--reason being that the show had gotten very popular with young audiences and, as a father who dearly loved both his biological son and his stepchildren from his second marriage, he was worried about setting a bad example for kids who might think holmes' drug habit was cool.
6) he was bisexual and just about as supportive of holmes x watson and gay holmes headcanons as you could've possibly been back in the 80s/early 90s. he cared so much about keeping true to holmes canon BUT at the same time didn't mind that they removed watson's wife from the show, because according to him "she would've gotten in the way" and "watson was more in love with holmes--in a pure sense--than he could've been with a woman" and one time at a convention in 1991 someone asked him if holmes was gay and his answer was literally "i don't think so because you can't kiss men with a pipe in your mouth", but also "if it cheers the gays up, then why not?"
7) they may have dubbed over his singing voice in my fair lady, but he was literally a stage actor who had previously done a singing role in the west end musical "marigold", and had been in his college choir where he was known for having a great singing voice. here's a video of him singing in the musical i mentioned.
8) literally just look at him??
Tumblr media
in conclusion, please vote for jeremy brett for me. he deserves to win this.

Propaganda
Jeremy Brett (My Fair Lady)—"...he was beautiful. A strange adjective to use in describing a man. I use it not to suggest effeminacy or a kind of male prettiness, but in the same way I would use it to describe a throughbred stallion, Michelangelo's David or Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. There was with Jeremy Huggins [Brett's non- stage name] a perfection and sublime symmetry in his features that was beautiful." [quote from "Bending the Willow" by David Stuart Davies]
Gene Kelly (Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, The Pirate)—It’s hard to know where to start with Gene Kelly because he did so, so much, of such a high quality, from the ballet scenes in “An American in Paris” to the classy suave movie star act of “Singin’ in the Rain” to the incredibly camp, sexy “The Pirate”. He just never stopped finding cool ways to do things and he’s just brilliant to watch, especially when he’s dancing, but even when he’s doing drama or being silly! He’s one of those guys who could genuinely do it all and just radiates charisma through the screen, literally an #icon in every sense of the word.
This is round 4 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

"he was genuinely kind and supportive to judy garland when she was going through a rough time. she was having heavy trauma/addiction responses in 'Summer Stock' which led to her being late all the time and being too scared to come on set, and he actually faked twisting his ankle to distract everyone from her and give her some time off! so yeah, maybe he was a hardass, but when his friend needed him he was 100% there for her, and I think that's worth noting."
