IF IT WASNT CLEAR BY THE SPIKE IN FOUR SWORDS CONTENT ITS BEEN ON MY MIND LATELY!!! so obviously that means the obligatory redesigns >:) I tried not to play too far into the stereotypes (not that there's anything wrong in indulging in those!!... i did throw in headcanons tho, like heightened and dulled senses... ill explain dw)

we'll start with shadow since I kinda forgot to draw him initially, lol. sorry buddy 😥 I gave him a shard of the mirror as a means of being able to exist. he can still float around and slip into the shadows and all, but he's not as powerful as he was when the mirror was full. (his ego definitely still is big though) he's not fond of chainmail despite the rest of the four and Link wearing it. his tunic mirrors what links would've looked like. any triforce motifs appearing upside-down and little swirl on his belt backward since he's from the Dark World and all that jazz. silly stuff. I kept it relatively simple since I doubt Link is very over the top, and Shadow has no sense of bodily autonomy at that point (he would so have an over the top outfit, let's be real) Obviously he gets along well with Vio, but he and Blue banter quite a bit. Sure, both mistakenly get offended sometimes but it's all in good fun! His hair looks a little more rounded here, but it's usually more flowey and sticks up every which way. unruly hair for an unruly boy. shadow loves quality time!!! what could be better than hanging out with those you love and burning down towns??? okay, void the town burning.

Red's design is also fairly simple: longer skirt, exposed chainmail, sleeved tunic, and a rounded collar. he has a rounder shape language (not that I paid too much attention to it, obviously) his hat curls up where the elemental stone is at. no one understands how it does this. Red thinks it's some knick knack he stored in there. UNNATURALLT WARM. like. concerningly warm. He's their magic user, preferring to use his magic rod over his sword (honestly, probably could wipe the floor with the other three if given a good magic item, but don't tell them that)(and yes im calling it a magic rod cuz it shoots fire and ice) Poor Red got the short end of the stick with poor hearing but great taste buds. He's a foodie at heart and it's obvious why. His hair is a lot fluffier and rounder than the other three, matching his soft and bubbly personality. Not a pant wearer. Obviously he has the magic rod and slingshot, but i also gave him the Bombos medallion since its an item in the FSA game. Green suggested they split the loot evenly. No. He's not allowed to use it. Yes, he's accidentally blown up a lot of things with it. That's why hes not allowed to use it. definitely a physical touch kinda love language guy. you know exactly why. impulsive spender. has quite a few burn scars from learning to use the fire rod. most of his tunics are a little singed, but he keeps some neat

ah, Green, the resident insomniac. usually that's Vio's role, but you cannot tell me this guy didn't get Link's terrible sleeping habits. he constatly looks sleep deprived in some compacity, but he's getting better! sure, it usually means someone has to hold him down until he sleeps but hey! better than nothing! his tunic matches most Links with the sleeved overtunic and collared undershirt. he uses he sword quite often, having the most finesse with the weapon out of the group. occasionally he'll bust out the boomerang. sort of the unofficial leader, keeping the group on track, but is always open to suggestions from the rest of the Colors. I gave him the Pegasus boots, since I'd assume they all don't get the loot they would've picked up along the way. His element is wind, so it felt the most fitting he had them. his hair is a little messy, and sure he sometimes has a stick in there, but he does his best to keep it combed. Despite his drowsiness, he's got sharp eyes (the best in the group, as a matter-of-fact!) Unfortunately, his sense of smell is lacking (but clearly he has it a lot better than Red does. I mean, seriously, id take hawkeyes over tasteaholic any day). Hes a little shit when playing Ispy; typically picking really tiny things and reveling in the fact no one can guess it. his elemental stone is attatched to his belt even though its a place it can get easily lost. somehow he has yet to lose it. the back problems arise from Link, mostly, though his isnt as bad as Vio's (maybe because hes not slouched over a desk half the time, but i digress) Typically level headed and focused, keeping the group moral high with Red (aka, keeping Vio and Blue's moral high because they tend to be more pessimistic) (well, Vio considers himself a realist and Blue is Blue)

since i dont consider Shadow that much of an idiot, Vio probably had to actually stab Green to make it look convincing. While the scar isn't big, there's once on his lower abdomen from the Four Sword. They didn't have any health potions, so they had to go back down the mountain to get him help. Green holds no resentment, knowing Vio did what had to be done to gain the enemies trust. the cheek scar is from the pyramid cuz there aint no way he got out of that unscathed fighting against Valenzuela. more of a words of affirmation guy, but enjoys quality time like the rest of them.

Vio is obviously their whittier member. honestly, if he were to be described in DnD stats, he'd have a high intelligence and a medium wisdom because man is this man stupid sometimes. he's not as outwardly arrogant as Blue, at least, not as loud with it. his clothes are usually wrinkled, being more focused on bookwork than much else (this pisses Blue off to no end, being the neat freak he is) despite this, his room is the definition of organized chaos. he knows where everything is, and if you move something, he will not be happy. also not a pant wearer, his tunic has a longer skirt than the others and his sleeves are a lot looser. his hair tends to droop into his eyes and somehow this has yet to get in the way. he prefers to pick off enemies from afar as the team's bowsman. amazing aim and a very steady hand. while he doesn't have as big of a magic reserve as Red, he can still use elemental arrows (probably in the same way as in WindWaker) strangely bad at math (simply because i find it amusing) and is pissed that Blue is good at is (again, because i find it amusing. it freaks Blue out) Vio is more of an acts of service kind of guy, but like everyone else enjoys quality time. especially when it's quiet quality time. impuslive spender, mostly on books. everyone else insists he uses the library, but he argues its different when you own the book. impecible hearing, cannot taste shit. it makes eating rations easier, but sadly cannot enjoy the nicer foods in life, so he tends to choose things based on texture. Got the brunt of the back pain, but makes it worse with how he sits and for how long he does. honestly has a weird complex where he thinks of himself as superior to the rest in a way, yet also manages to struggle to fit in and hates himself for it. not explicitly touch avoident, but hes not one to seek out physical affection often and tends to be one of the first to push Red off (other than Blue) his stone is pined to his bow holster since he tends to always have it on him, he wont lose it that way. the fact that the rest have theirs in such irresponsible spots upsets him. refuses to sleep until he's done something he considers productive.

last but not least: Blue! my favorite guy!! god what a prick, i hate him. his design is a lot more knightly with more chainmail and a brutish sort of look. he's intimidating alright, even at his 4'11 stature. look. hylians are short. his hair is spikey like his personality and his hat is more angular (mostly cuz he folds it everynight. theres permanent crease marks in it) ends up with the most scaring thanks to his irrisponsible sparing and little use of healing potions (yet despite this, he's the group medic) the nick in his ear was from some random enemy camp that he just ignored for a while. I never said he was a responsible medic when it came to himself. hes mean, sure, but hes trying. just a little blunt. okay, very blunt. very blunt and very angry. hear me out: mom friend. if that mom was divorced and had anger issues. he knows the others are fully capible of handling themselves, cuz if he survives, why shouldn't they? despite that, he still worries. I know that it says his left eye is blind, but he can still see some color, its just reaaal blurry. does anyone know that? only red. will he tell anyone else? not unless he has to. does he run into shit when hes not paying attention. sometimes, yeah. to top it off, he - like red - got the short stick with shit vision but a heightened sense of smell. he can smell a monster camp from up to a mile away. impressive, right? dont tell him that. this boy has a lot of injury issues, being as reckless as he is. the knee injury was from a particularly nasty moblin (possibly the same as where the eye scar came from. who knows? he wont tell) and got worse as it got ignored. look, when you're the medic, you gotta make sure everyone else is okay before you. at least, thats how Blue sees it. not to even mention the nerve damage from being frozen for god knows how long. I don't know about you, but (assuming it was a Wizrobe) being magically frozen has its side effects. so what hes a walking icepack (exaggerating, but he's cold enough outwardly that you can feel it) and so what his hair grows in a few shades lighter than everyone elses? they don't gotta know why or when or how or even that it happens. the hair dye is stashed under his bed and he will die if anyone finds out. it reeeally fucked with his magic, seeing as hes associated with the water element.. do green and vio know about any of this? nope. red was sworn (read: threatened) to silence. probably the most physically fit when split, and makes sure to take good care of his body. he likes to push himself, hence the ankle weights. always has to be doing something productive. hes their financial guy, somehow having the least impuslive spending habits. will typically only spend on necessary things. gets mad at the others for buying egregiously expensive recreational shit. (that umbrella shadow has? yeah. expensive as hell. he was not happy) the most touch avoident of the bunch. unexpectedly, blue is a gift giving guy. he gets embarassed about it when you question it, or even when hes giving it to you, but yeah. he likes giving things to people and then will throw insults at their face. not in a mean way. in a "im embarassed and you suck so shut up" way. quality time is something he enjoys as well, liking to spar with his brothers often. can easily master a lot of melee weapons, its impressive, but cannot for the life of him make anything else work. his stone was made into an earring, and despite vio's complaints, he usually knows when its missing.

Sorry it's kinda short, I had something happen so it's rushed. Again I am so sorry

"You need to be more careful. I don't need you dying in the forge" she would say whenever he returned home, he would chuckle along with her, but today it was different. She didn't greet him like normal.

Four went around the house, looking for her, his eyes starting to fill with worry, "Y/N?" he softly called out for her

But he heard nothing.

"Y/N?!?!" he yelled out for her, starting to grip his hair before splitting.

'Lovely?" red softly called out as he stood up, looking at his brothers "She's gone... lovely?!"

"Yelling isn't going to bring her back" Vio stated as he also stood up, rubbing his head

Next that stood up was blue "That immature girl, she might be pregnant and she runs off!"

"The outside is dangerous, she's so... fragile unlike us..." Green looks at his hands, his hands covered in scars from all the fighting they had done, the burn scars from working as a blacksmith

"We'll find her, she shouldn't have gone far" Vio dusts himself off before fixing his hair.

"It's ok! yeah we can find her, it won't take long, I hope" Red smiles, shaking

Running down into the forest, she could hear them calling for her, she hated how fast he, or well... Them, they moved too fast. She knew that he would split when stressed enough.

'Go go go... go away please" she softly says to herself, tears starting to roll down her face.

She saw it, She saw it all last night

The murder... He killed someone, she didn't know who the guy was by name. but she had talked to him earlier that day.

"Lovely!!!" red called out for her, his voice full of worry

She didn't believe it. Was he gonna kill her next?

"Dove, come on out we know you are here. You can't hide for long" Vio spoke gently, walking away from the group deeper into the forest

Blue listened before speaking "For once I think we should go back to being four"

"Wait why? won't we cover more ground?"

"I think we should too, she won't listen otherwise, wait where did Vio go?"

Vio listened to the quiet forest "Dove, Lovely, you little immature girl,. You won't survive long without us, you know that, you don't have money... friends.... family... anything. You are on you're own sweetheart, So come out and be good my darling."

He continued to listen before hearing her soft cries

"Is this about last night? you saw, didn't you? That's how far we will go, hurt or kill any pest that dares to put their hands on you!" he spoke slowly walking to where she was

Soon the other three caught up and fused back together

"Sweetheart!" four hugged her tightly against him while she cried "I was so worried! We were so worried! you are a mess darling! It's ok, we'll get you cleaned up"

"No! let go of me you murderer!!' she yelled out, but he didn't release her, he picked her up and started to walk out of the forest

"You are just so cute sweetheart, come on now, you must be so tired you're not thinking straight"

Soon, she passed out, her feet covered in scratches and bruises, four holding her in his arms

"There you go... Just sleep... It's ok... You'll be better by morning...

Vio turned the page, not reading it for the millionth time but he had to keep up the appearance. Shadow was sitting in the living room, watching them all interact. He had come a long way since his return. Shadow was still learning about relationships and affection however. THeir different way to show happiness, platonic and otherwise. He sat with paws tucked under his fat fluffy cat body. When he wanted to observe without being noticed, he did that. Most of the time one of them noticed his inky abyss cat form but no one said anything. Vio was very close to picking him up and dpositing his cute cat ass into his lap for pets. He hadn’t told the others he liked that though. He found it out on accident one day.

He was overthinking when Shadow had come up to him in their room, as a cat, and just sat there blinking at him owlishly. There was obviously something wrong with his Vio, lost in his head again. He had reached out and rubbed his ears, and scritched under his chin out of sheer subconscious knowledge of cats. Shadow melted instantly and purred so loud it pulled VIo out of his stupor. Shadow froze and then an when they made eye contact. Neither of them talked about it, but Shadow would occasionally let him pet his cat from If they were alone.

Red was writing down recipes in a small book at the coffee table, sitting on the floor, back against the couch. He was humming happily and quietly, not enought to annoy, but enough that if Vio were actually reading he would have said something. The sly look Red one in a while glanced at him with, told he knew. Shadow was on top of a bookshelf, watching the two of them. He knew something was up, but not exactly what. Green and Red could be heard if he tried hard enough, perking his ears in the direction of the open window. They were supposed to be sparing, but got distracted and ended up just hanging out in the grass.

The black cat stretched, catching Vio’s glance. He could use a nice sun nap, but there was also the fact Vio was clearly fake reading. He was much faster than that and never looked around him when he got into a book. He padded over to Vio and sat before him, undecided. Vio moved his book to the side and raised an eyebrow at him.

“What’s up?” he asked softly, holding out his hand. “Bored already?” Shadow placed his little cat head into his open palm. Red was openly staring in surprise. Vio gave him time to back out, and when he didn't, he rubbed his little cat head. The shiny ruby eyes shut in satisfaction as he got attention. Red gushed immediately and ran over to join, but the second he did Shadow jumped, startled, and ran.

“Aww man.” he pouted. “I’m sorry Shadow! I should’ve asked! please come back!!” The abyss stared at him, eyes glowing under the couch.

“....” he looked to the side, embarrassed.

“It’s alright, love.” Vio offered his hand again. “It’s just like when Green ruffles our hair. It isn’t weird, I promise.” His tone was so soft it surprised even Red.  Shadow slowly scoot out and sat in front of them. HIs ears a little back but tail still. Vio ran a finger from his nose up across his forehead and Shadow purred lightly. He gave in right away, of course. Red cooed and reached out.

“Can I too?” he asked this time, Shadow looked at him intently before huffing and turning away, eyes shut. Red looked over at Vio to translate and he nodded. He gave him very gentle pets. Shadow wasn’t expecting such soft affection and from both of them doing it, he melted into Vio’s lap. His audible purrs was the best response they could have hoped for.

Vio smiled at him, his cute little monster. Shadow peeked an eye open at him as if to say “I heard that.” Red let them be and went back to the cookbook, Vio opting to stay in that spot and continue giving Shadow the attention he deserved. Shadow fell asleep on his lap within minutes. Love warmed his chest from the weight of his form in his lap.

As soon as the door opened, however, the shot up and booked it upstairs loudly.

“??” Blue looked between them and the stairs he had disappeared up. “What’d we miss?”

Four tries to have a good day - or at least an okay day as often as he can. This is often ruined, but he tries.

Today, his plan to have an okay day is ruined by rude and creepy people in the market. Courtesy of alcohol if the way they smell is any indication.

The crowd is just this side of thick as ypu and the boys walk through the market square.

Four is holding your hand happily as you all browse the stalls, the people all background.

You seem right at home- though to be fair this is your hyrule.

"Huh, guess we lost the others," You say, looking around curiously.

"Yeah, I guess so."

You turn to look at him, smiling warmly.

He knows it's sentimental and sappy, Vio is always quick to call them on it... but he likes when you smile at him like that- the smile you only ever seem to have for him.

You smile at others like that sometimes- but it's not quite the same. You smile like mean the world to you.

You smile at him like he is your world.

Which isn't to say you don't have a life outside of him, that would be unhealthy. But you jist- you smile brighter at him.

Or maybe he's just biased.

"(Y/n)!" A voice calls from the right, earning a groan from you.

Four looks to you in concern.

You fix a polite smile on your face, "Hello Jim."

"It's been a while." Jim says, looking like the type of man who finds himself very charming.

The way you smile a little sharper betrays your unspoken 'not long enough '.

"It has been. " You say, already sounding uninterested. "Did you need something from me?"

"Just your time. You really are beautiful -"

"I've told you before, Jim. I really am not interested in anything like that."

Four decides in this moment that he might actually resort to violence against a fellow Hylian. This man has obviously done this before.

And you're obviously told him no before. Which means he's being rude and pushing boundaries.

"Aw, come on, (Y/n)." Jim says, leaning forwards so he can set a hand on your cheek.

Oh violence. Violenve for a million reasons. All the colors are raging.

You just grab Jim's wrist with your free hand and push his hand away before dropping the offending limb.

"If you touch me again, I will knock your lights out." You say evenly.

Four has to agree with you on this. He'd punch the man himself- except he knows that'd make a scene.

He squeezes your hand- the one still in his. He wants you to know he's here and supports you.

Jim laughs, reaching for you again.

"Come on, babe, we all know you are just playing hard to get."

He touches your shoulder gently- intimately.

Oh. Okay. He has chosen death.

You growl, letting go of Four's hand so you can ball it up and slam your fist into Jim's nose.

The resounding crack is more than satisfying as he doubles over with a groan.

"You fucking asshole!" Jim snarls out, holding his nose as blood seeps towards his chin. He's looking up from his vent over position and looks enraged.

"They warned you." Four says, not bothering to fight of his smug grin.

You are amazing and Four thinks he has every right to fall more in love with you for this.

You wipe your hands off on your pants as if Jim is little more than an unpleasant tea bag to be thrown away.

Turning away you take Four's hand again.

"C'mon, love." You say gently, always so much calmer with Four than any other.

"You kicked his ass. I doubt he'll bother you again." Four says, smiling up at you with the softest eyes and half-baked plans of your future together

"Shut the fuck up kid, if you weren’t so young I'd kick your ass." Jim says through his bloody nose and pig headed pride.

Four turns to say something back, but is stopped short as you drop his hand and walk back to Jim.

You grab the man by his dark hair, snarling viciously as you sock him in the nose again.

"You will not insult my boyfriend like that."

Jim groans, eyes rolling back. And something in Four swells at how quickly you defend him.

You drop him, and the man falls like a sack of potatoes.

"Holy shit." Four says, unsure if he should be concerned that you were so enraged you knocked a man out after breaking his nose. Or if he should feel the warm emotion in his heart that he does.

"You okay?" You ask, moving back to four.

"Yeah. Just- suprised... I knew you could fight- but that was something new."

"Oh.. yeah. Sorry."

"It's okay. I was probably gonna kick his ass too."

You just smile, wiping the blood off your hand and onto your pants. "Let's go find some lunch, I'm starving. "

"Sounds perfect. "

There's no competition, I love the new one SO MUCH.

Trying to make them all look different while still having that Link flare is a challenge but fun.

His pink hair is such an improvement over the bright red that blended WAAAY to much into his hat.

Trying to draw his eyes more similar to how Akira does as well.

I made him slightly paler and Blue slightly less pale to give them some skin variation.

Red's hair and skin were blending too much imo before I made him paler. Working with various shades of red and pinks is so hard agh.

Gave him a more cherry red tunic too + a red for his belt and hat rim.

I'm taking this as an opportunity to talk about things I love about drawing/designing them.

Blue's super long side burns are a favorite design choice tho. XDDDD

Blue also has a more unique nose shape being inspired by the noses in Soul Eater.

Him having no tights I think shows his wreck-less nature. XD

Thicc eyebrows are visually tasty and don't let anyone say otherwise-

Vio's face + hair is a favorite of mine. He has such a draw-able face.

Him wearing twilight princess Link's outfit is very fitting for him I think.

Him always having his sword visible is annoying to draw but also shows he perpetually has it there is kinda off-putting.

It's also SUCH a stark contrast when in the head space he has no armor and is in way less clothes. I wouldn't call them "revealing" because they're not, but they are compared to his 100% head to toe covered look in the real world. No armor, no long sleeve shirt no long tights. Just a baggy t shirt and shorts lol.

His tunic having a chainmail layer underneath is fun, Vio is the most armored up Link out of the four atm with his arm guards PLUS chainmail.

Vaati is literally color-picked from minish cap and his design is taken right from that too, but playing around with him reverting back to Wind demon mode is super fun art wise.

His colored Akira art is so desaturated agh. XD

I'd love to give Vaati a new outfit at some point tho.

Dark's blank slate design is a favorite of mine. He's so dang cute but I'm very excited to draw him in new things when he gets a new outfit. I think atm tho it draws attention to his creepy chest eyeball, changing hair and his expressions more since his outfit IS so bland.

I just love Link. He is so precious to me. Trying to work in all the colors from the four of them was a challenge but also really satisfying in the final design I think.

I just love how Green is tiered and his hair is similar to Link's but with a cap on. Also he makes me like the color green I typically don't like working with green. XDDDD

His hair is a MESS and inspired by Oracle of ages manga Link's hair. Specifically how it tilts down instead of sticking upward like in FS.

Him wearing Ocarina of Time Link's outfit is fun but I think it works better on Shadow. XDDDD

I'm really happy people liked Gannondorf because I struggled hah. My art style is more simple than Akira's but I'm glad I could capture the essence of Gannondorf. UwU

Like, he was mostly inspired by Twilight Princess Gannon with Wind Waker and Ocarina Gannon flare.

Ngl I love how OOT Link's outfit looks on Shadow Link. He looks so edgy.

The hot topic boots and different toned brown for his chest belt and actual belt are just the cherry on top. XD

I try to keep his hair in line with how it's drawn in FS because it gives him a unique silhouette when he's a shadow.

Though I'd love to design him more Gannondorf inspired attire like his desert cloak.

His TP manga Midna inspired look was mostly due to me wanting to find a way to show his expressions while ALSO showing he is an entirely black shadow.

Anyways yeah, FSR is very fun to work on visually XD

Personality: They are loud and exuberant. It's a scene kid through and through, with a particular love of dark purple, checker patterns, and bright greens. Xe doesn't like being “human,” thinking that being a dog is much better. Ze loves the mall, especially Hot Topic and Spencers, and wears Converse most of the time. Cringe is a big fan of cartoons, especially Invader Zim. XD is also a huge transID hoarder, and loves looking through databases and Tumblr tags to find new ones!

Classic Link got smaller somehow, and I welcome it.

The doodles above are all incarnations of Link from the Downfall Timeline (+ bonus Ravio because it is inexcusable to leave him out). I can go on for hours about why I love each of these storylines individually, but I'll try to keep it short and sweet and save the ramblings for another post.

This page includes ALTTP Link, ALBW Link and Ravio, LoZ Link, and AoL Link- who I HC as a second incarnation of LoZ Link (more on that later, my mind has been swirling... o_o).

First in the Downfall Timeline comes ALTTP Link, and I already have expressed how much I love that game. I mean, just look at rabbit Link. Sure, it's not very intimidating, but there is no way you can't love a little bunny. I hope we get some sort of nod to his again in newer games (like Ravio). I can never really decide on which color to use on his hair, but this time I tried pinkish highlights. It makes his hair look like a sunset, oddly enough, but also kind of like old art of the Sacred Realm.

Next comes ALBW Link and Ravio. Based on some implied dialogue exchanges in the game, I like to imagine they're too much alike while not at all at the same time; like brothers, basically. However, I imagine they're close enough that Link surprisingly takes his cowardly counterpart more seriously than others might, and Ravio looks up to Link a lot and even tried to replicate his behavior. Knowing that Tri-Force Heroes Link is supposed to also be ALBW Link, I imagine Ravio is like the "Vio" to the trio of Red, Green, and Blue in Hytopia. The little smithing attire ALBW wears was given to him by the Blacksmith, who I HC adopts him after the story. That makes Gulley his little brother. :)

Lastly, there's the two classic versions of Link. According to Nintendo, these two Links are one in the same. However, I like to imagine differently due to the difference in gameplay style. I also just think it fits better in context of the rest of the timelines. So, here they are with two different designs. LoZ Link is a small, ten year old boy with a heart twice his size. He simply sticks to a sword and bombs. AoL Link is 16, and learns magic spells to progress through his adventure while living in the dormer's shadow.

I like to imagine, if Ravio somehow met these other incarnations of Link, he would give them all goofy nicknames. ALBW would obviously remain Link or Mr. Hero, but ALTTP Link would likely be cursed with some bunny related name because Ravio thinks it has style. LoZ Link would probably just be "little buddy" (in reference to him calling the Link he knows simply "buddy"), and AoL Link would just be "Mr. Adventurer". He's really creative.

I've been considering making a LoZ-based fancomic and have been making plot outlines at a rapid pace. It is unlikely to start up anytime too soon, but perhaps keep an eye out? I may send updates every so often.

Vidow Animatic Thoughts (pt 1)

I shall detail thought process etc. let’s go. It’s long. Under cut. Hit tumblr max image upload so this is three parts.

Program: procreate dreams (it’s clunky but it works). This whole video took me something like 8 hours? Over the course of uhhh three days? Pretty quick.

Introduction

This is my first ever animatic, so when I began, I wanted to keep it simple. I chose my favorite pencil brush and like three colors (I later added one for emphasis). I had a couple specific scenes in mind, and I knew how I wanted the progression to go, but I winged most of it, shot by shot. The song does a good job of building up with a sort of three-act structure, so.

I referenced the castle from Breath of the Wild, but I didn’t stress too much about the details. The plan was to make it sketchy and quick. The beginning is mostly just things moving across the screen. I think that works, though, setting up the angsty mood and giving me room to expand later on. The first shot with Vio’s face is sort of meant to be a fake-out: you’re looking at him, but no he’s looking at a mirror, which is obvious when it cracks. Not sure if that came across but the cracks are very cool anyway.

This is also the first time you see white, which sort of represents change/time through the whole thing.

And then we see the first of Shadow, and he has his own color: black. He's a real drawing here (rather than black smoke or something) mostly to establish that black=Shadow.

Not much to say about the next bit, with the door and stuff dropping, I just wanted to make it clear that we’re in Vio’s bedroom at the end of a day.

And then he’s being dramatic about getting in bed. Mostly just to show that he’s tired and Haunted. Also I think it does work in establishing that this isn’t really Shadow’s doing. Whether or not he’s actually there doesn’t matter, because it’s Vio who thinks he does, and we’re seeing this from Vio’s perspective. He’s the one who can’t let Shadow go, so whether Shadow is actually haunting him like a ghost doesn’t matter.

Verse 1

SO first off, Vio is sad and has bad dreams. Well, good dreams. They're good, but they make him sad. Shadow shows up in black again, definitely part of the dream (further blurring the line between reality and delusion). Vio's in white in his dream, which doesn't happen anywhere else. If white represents change, then this is Past Vio, or the Vio That Vio Wishes He Was But Isn't. It's definitely memories of some kind, though, because white Vio's hair is short, where normal Vio has a long braid throughout.

We only see Shadow as more than an influence (by that I mean a shadow, a flash, a feeling) a few times, and this is the first. His presence is stronger in dreams and weaker in the reality that Vio lives in.

But the sun comes up and Vio is actually alone. White is the sun/light a lot here, meaning that time is passing. Vio's still brooding. (I really like that little "in the heat of the day" shot, the glint is in Vio's lower eyes which may hint at tears, but it's definitely not obvious yet.) I don't particularly LOVE that drawing of Vio braiding his hair, but it gets the point across. He can't stop thinking about Shadow, even as he goes about his day.

Chorus 1

This part hammers that in: Vio CAN'T stop thinking about Shadow and wallowing in his memories, it's driving him to distraction and failure. He's not moving on. It's right there in the lyrics: "I can never let you go." There's a reference to evil root beer as he's eating, distracted from Red (hi Red!) right beside him. He feels guilty, and can't shoot arrows without imagining himself hurting Shadow more. He still half-expects Shadow to be there for his discoveries. He feels watched, like Shadow should be there all the time, even when he isn't doing anything. He's brooding. Broody boy.

Interlude

Broody boy continues. Important: when he's walking to his room/the library/wherever books are, he's going right to left. I studied a couple videos of walk cycles to get those feet right, and they still aren't right, but I'm still impressed with myself! Also, apparently I now have a mental library of Gothic Windows. I thought that was a fun shot. Vio sure sighs a lot.

Verse 2

This verse is ramping things up and preparing for the turn.

"Nothing ever changes, so I've learned." I feel like this is quite a Vio statement to make. I don't think it's perfectly applicable—in this post-canon-adjacent AU, clearly the four of them are still separate people, which would be quite a change, but for Vio? I think it means that he's maybe a little upset that nobody else is grieving to the point of distraction. People are going about their lives, but every single step Vio takes is shadowed. (ba dum tish.)

The flower was a spur-of-the-moment decision, since I wanted something in the spot where the book was and didn't really want to just draw vague smoke again. But it ended up being thematic and calling back to a later moment in the video. And maybe it hints that Shadow might be showing his approval that Vio is at least trying to do what he loves (that is, reading books.)

And Vio's back in his room, surrounded by books. He's tried so hard to forget. He doesn't look particularly interested in what he's reading, and we know why. I tried to frame that "to forget" shot in a way that looks like he might be drowning in his own ambition, like he has all these books and he's just desperate that one of them will distract him or be a replacement for Shadow's influence in his life, which is quickly growing to dangerous levels...

Did Vio actually see Shadow here? Well, once again, it doesn't matter, because Vio thinks he did, thinks so hard that he throws himself to the ground. It doesn't injure him, but it doesn't take a fortune-teller to imagine that he might do something truly reckless if this keeps going. And Vio sees that, I think, here. He realizes that what he sees might not be real. He's in the "dark night of the soul" here, and actually cries, which is a big deal for his character. It's just two tears—white, if you'll notice—but it represents his hitting rock-bottom.

"And you've never loved me once" is maybe not the right line for this, I considered changing it to "you only loved me once" but I eventually decided to keep the line as it is in the song so there's minimal dissonance for the viewer. The song's story isn't quite the same as the one I'm pulling out here, but this line is the turning point in the song's story and in mine.

Finally finished the little links! Been watching FSA gameplay for inspo and I think I’m happy with their design

Splitting: I envision Four's different fractions/colors like the emotions from Inside Out. Four is their own person who became hyperaware of the fractions within their head when they drew the Four Sword. Each color has their own piece of Four's personality they are responsible for, vaguely similar to the manga: Blue Link is anger and protectiveness, Red is innocence and optimism, Vio is intelligence and wit, and Green is courage and determination. When Four becomes four, the colors take on their own forms as Four's consciousness becomes split between them. It's very disorienting and it's only after they recombine can Four sort through their shared thoughts and the four sets of memories they suddenly gain. Four can't hear or interact with the colors in their head but knows they are a part of him in some sort of way. It keeps him up at night.

This’ll probs be long because im exhausted and talkative so im gonna

I depict them all kinda differently despite them all looking kinds he same! So, Green looks the most like “Link,” with the classic green tunic and white shorts n stuff, but instead if a hat he usually has a ponytail. Red has super curly hair , the hat, and a scarf (for fashion). Vio has clothes more similar to Green’s, except he gets a hat and his shorts/undershirt are darker colored, more similar to what Shadow wears in the manga. Lastly, Blue is the only one who wears pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a type of shawl/jacket and gloves (my reasoning for this is that he’s always cold thanks to being frozen for a few days). Then of course, they all have their respective elemental pendant (from Minish cap, although they arent actually the Minish cap Link, they just happen to have those pendants to help differentiate them). Of course, i have headcanons on other things such as differences in hair color and how their skin tones are all slightly different, but considering that i dont often color art anymore, im not going to get into that 💀

Yes, Blue uses sign! I’m not the greatest at drawing it, so it can be hard to tell sometimes. He’s mostly nonverbal in my au, usually opting to sign unless he a.) absolutely needs to use his voice or b.) is pissed. Sign is a lot more blunt of a language, and I think it fits his personality to prefer using it, if that makes sense? Idk if that makes sense. Whatever im exhausted

The first thing that made me choose him was the height difference, I'm ngl! I headcanon that Arven is at least close to 6ft, not quite there but he's definitely taller. (I'm a sucker for height differences LMAO) Anyways! Arven is a carin' guy, and even if he kinda struggles with his anger a bit he's still the sweetest person you can meet when you get to know him. He's a bit of a mess too, but that's not something you can't handle! - When you first meet, it's after Arven graduates (finally) and begins working as a substitute for Naranja! I hc that he becomes one of the teachers in the future, so this is his lil' head start into that. - It's quite a mess when you two meet... The battle duo I didn't know I needed until I had them (an accompanying piece to this angsty one over here, featuring Shadow, Green, and Blue)

We see a lot of sweet and soft Red floating around (which is wonderful, I love a sweet and soft Red as much as the next person), but Red in Battle Mode™️? is so satisfying?? Like ... just let the soft one be fierce. Let them be angry. Let them stand up for themselves and others. Let them find their claws and teeth, and let them use them

To honour that, I've gathered all my thoughts on Red so far (see below the cut)

A caveat: I think this interpretation of them is just a little bit to the left of how they're usually interpreted, because sweet and naive Red is all well and good, but red is a colour of passion, fire is one heck of an element, and even in the manga they grow more playful and mischievous, so I'd like to draw some of that out here:

non-binary, they/them pronouns — usually prefers slightly more masculine clothing, but keeps their hair on the longer side;

emotionally mature and good at communication;

has made the conscious decision to remain sweet, soft, and kind, even after realising that the world won't always treat them well for it;

patient, but that patience does have limits — do not cross those limits. I repeat: DO NOT CROSS THOSE LIMITS;

of all the Colours and Shadow, they're probably the best one at flirting (when they choose to do so), and they do it in a very soft and caring way — they treat their interests well, and take the time to figure out love languages, likes and dislikes, boundaries, and generally try to make the other person feel good (Blue sometimes gets a jealous, but he's working on it, and he's getting better at communicating when it happens and what sets it off — Red makes sure to reassure him and shower him with affection when necessary);

they have zero qualms about taking the flirting to a physically intimate level, as long as the other person is comfortable with it;

they're the one with the highest success rate in that department (yes, Green can also be extremely charming when he wants to, but Red has yet to fail even once, and Green is deeply mystified, while especially Shadow finds it hilarious — Red refuses to reveal their "secret" of how they manage it);

has the softest hair — it tangles really easily, and while they enjoy having someone run their fingers through it, they're also really sensitive to pulling, so they usually don't let other people do anything with their hair;

creative;

good at baking, and runs a small business from their home (they take pre-orders and do evening runs with Vio to deliver the goods);

wants kids (as does Blue, but although they both know he does, he's not ready to say the words out loud yet);

likes to be cozy;

their general philosophy in life is that living should be fun and enjoyable, and if it's not, you need to reevaluate why it's not and whether it's something you can change;

scrambled eggs is an important part of brunch (this is their eternal argument with Blue, since Blue prefers poached eggs, and of course they could make both, but that takes more time, so they've started alternating — Green has no opinion on this, as long as he gets eggs with his bacon — Shadow sometimes butts in and asks for fried or boiled eggs, just to be a menace, and Vio will 100% support him when he does);

and maybe Red has ADHD/tendencies towards ADHD? not entirely sure yet, so we'll see!

Thoughts I've mentioned before, that are related to Red:

third closest to their Zelda (Dot);

sometimes helps Blue in the forge, and enjoys figuring out how to make magical items;

starts courting Blue 3-4 years after their adventure;

proposes to Blue 3-4 years after they start courting;

crushed on both Blue and Green in the beginning (and sort of still does), but Green doesn't seem to be interested/shows confusing signs (Blue is aware of this, and also likes Green) — Red and Blue mutually agreed to not push Green about it;

thinks that Blue is the ultimate pillow;

pleads for a nap pile pretty much every day, usually right after dinner, to make sure Green gets some sleep (his insomnia can be really bad);

and has never caught a cold

As a random aside, while Green might have the strongest Dad Vibes (hello, awful jokes and terrible fashion), I feel like Red would have the strongest Dad Instincts (Blue has Mum Instincts and I'll die on this hill)

Scenario or headcanons for what cuddling the colours and/or four is like pls 🤲🤲🤲🤲u_u

Cuddles! Heck yeah!! I’m going to do Hc’s just because I want to do for all the boys.

Four:

- Four is a mess. He gets easily flustered with affection. So if you hold him gently he will short circuit melting on the spot.

- He does come to you for hugs and cuddles. If anything he would come over if your working and drape himself on you. But if your cuddling in the bed, he isn’t scared to hold you close.

- Four like always is a mix of all the colors. He tends to like holding you but isn’t opposed to lay on your shoulder or chest. He likes hearing you heart beat.

- There are times where he won’t be that receptive with cuddle. It’s usually when he is working on something. It’s dangerous in the forge! He can’t fool around in there!

- He will cuddle you when he has a break from a project. But until then he is going to fight everything to not put everything down in that moment to shower you in affection.

Green:

- Green would need to be ask for cuddles because he seems like the type to forget that affection towards him exists sometimes. So please remind him with some TLC.

- He doesn’t mind being held or holding you. It’s whatever you want in that moment. But expect a tight grip and some kisses. He will take this opportunity to shower you with some love.

- Green is like the embodiment of safety and comfort. Once you lay your head on him you tensions are instantly washed away.

- He would be the type to slowly rub circles on your back and whisper sweet nothings as you sleep.

- Once you get him used to cuddling he will seek you out and ask for some. But don’t always expect it. He is still a bit shy about it.

Red:

- OH HE LOVES CUDDLES! There is no asking Red for them because he will cuddle you no matter what.

- He wants to be held. Please hold him. Red would love to hear your heart beat when drifting off to sleep. He is also up to holding you and letting you drift off to sleep on him. But he prefers to be held.

- Cuddling Red is like cuddling a teddy bear. He is super comfortable and not to warm. He tends to always bring blankets to cuddle times. Pillow forts are also a must.

- Red isn’t afraid to plop his head right in your lap ether. If he wants to cuddle or have affection he is gonna get it!

- Red is also the one that would suggest the idea of cuddle piles with the other colors and you. He wants everyone to feel loved! Also its just a lot more fun this way.

Blue:

- A cat. He wont accept cuddles so easily, there's going to be a lot of pouting and grumbles before he relents. But you know he doesn’t mind.

- Blue is going to hold you no matter what position. He wants to protect you no matter what. He also loves holding you.

- Honestly Blue is almost like your personal pillow. He is very comfortable and is shockingly a furnace. Probably the second best cuddles.

- If you want to give him some TLC in the form of cuddles you need to soften him up with kisses and affection first. He isn’t going to let you other wise, instead flip it on you and attempt to fluster your instead.

- Further in the relationship Blue would most likely be more comfortable to start cuddle sessions. He would definitely be the one to continue to cuddle you in the morning after waking up.

Vio:

- Is also a cat. If he wants cuddles he will come to you for them. You can still curl up against him and he isn’t gonna stop it. But he isn’t afraid to leave you unless he is yearning.

- His favorite position is you on him while he is reading. Ether sitting in his lap or laying on top of him. He would love to cuddle you next to a roaring fire, a warm drink and blanket.

- If he is really yearn his is going to sit or lay next to you with his head on your shoulder loosely holding on to you. Silently hoping that you would start petting his hair.

- You will soon understand when he needs affection, since he is very bad at giving you any indications.

- Vio can instantly fall asleep if you cuddle him close and brush his hair with your hands.

"Hi baby~ <3" Shadow leaned over their bar edge counter, hat curling into a heart shape. His eyes scrunched up and cheeks flushed. Hands holding his head as he once again greeted his exhausted boyfriend. He was floating off the floor, of course. Shadow looked like a lovesick teen gushing about their latest crush.

Said crush sighed and grumbled, re-reading the potion instructions. Whoever thought of making an intoxicating liqour potion was going to get a stern talking to. Poor Shadow didn't know any better, and the shopkeeper took advantage of that. Couldn't let his heathen do anything without some stupid shit...

"Viiiiiiiiiooooooleeeeeet," he complained. Shadow was not recieving the attentiom he so clearly deserved!! "Lemme see those pretty eyes darlin'. pleaseeeeeee?" he spun in the air dramatically.

"I am trying to figure out how to un do this, Shadow."

He settled back against the counter with a pout. Vio felt the stare boring into his back. With another sigh, he relented amd stood by him. on the opposite side of the counter. Shadow immediatley brightened and held his face.

"Hello," Shadow whispered. He very gently caressed his face. Vio couldn't help but relax into it.

"You are so much trouble, you know that?" Vio's tone held nothing but affection. Maybe it was better to wait this out after all. At least he could keep a closer eye on him.

Shadow hummed and leaned down for a soft kiss. "Whatever you say darlin' "

Vio shook his head and stole his boyfriend's hand in his own. "Alright, come on. A little sleep will do you some good."

"In the same bed??" His ears twitched up. Vio snorted in response. They did have seperate rooms for when they wanted alone time, privacy, or whatever. Although, most nights, one of them just ended up joining the other in their bed come sleep time. "Have I ever told you how warm you are?" Shadow rambled. "And soft. But not in your hands, w-which is okay! Uh and- you smell really nice... like the lilac soap from the bath. er you don' mind when I'm cold do you? Zel said I'm like a snake or a dragon that way."

Vio squeezed his hand. He tried to ignore how the compliments made him feel tingly. Shadow was never this verbal. He sat him down on the bed's edge and took off the black tunic while his random spewing continued. Vio also stripped into just the undershirt and shorts.

Shadow scooted over to let Vio lay next to him. He once again continued his verbal assault of compliments.

"An' your hair is pretty, I like braiding it. Iss it's like honey."

"Enough, Shadow." Vio scoffed and wrapped his arm around his waist. "Try to rest."

"But you're so close." he pressed their foreheads together and went cross eyed to keep looking. "An' comfy..." He felt Shadow's whole body relax into him. "An' lilac..." his words slowed, resting his face against Vio's chest. "An-an'....mm. An' adorable. an' smart. an' a good kisser." his compliments became softer and further apart.

"Goodnight, Shadow." when he thought he had finally passed out, "I love you, you insufferable man."

"love... too." mumbled into his chest as his breaths evened out and slowed into sleep.

Vio blew out the bedside candle and just hoped this potion wore off by morning. He really couldn't take much more of over affectionate Shadow.

Your smile widened as you heard your lover giggle when you attacked his face with many quick kisses. He let out happy giggles every time your lips touched his skin.

Red stopped you before you could leave another peck on his cheek. "Nope, it's my turn!" With a bright smile, the hero started giving you double of the kisses you had given him.

"Hey!" You laughed. "It was my turn!" The blond acted like he didn't hear you, trapping your lips with his one last time before he let you go.

...Well, he only stopped kissing you, he didn't let you go from his arms that were wrapped around you. Red rested his head on your shoulder, eyes closed with the happiest expression on his face.

"I love you so much." His voice was soft, almost a whisper, and full of emotion. "I love you."

"Why are you doing this?" The blond huffed as you put another flower in his hair. It was a blue nightshade, he noticed, one of the flowers that bloomed in Wild's era.

"Because it's cute." Was your simple answer. You moved one of your hands to hold a side of his face, mainly to stop him from moving around too much.

"Then go with Wild, his hair is longer!" Blue could feel the heat rising to his cheeks, but didn't move away from you.

You stopped, now focusing on him instead of the flowers, and gave him a smile. "Maybe, but I want to put flowers in your hair. You're very cute."

His heart was beating like crazy, but he didn't want to show it. He didn't want you to see how happy he felt, nor how nervous he was at that moment.

"...Just this once." He closed his eyes and, in a rare bold move, softly nuzzled your hand that was holding his cheek. You chuckled, he actually looked quite relaxed as you continued putting the blue blooms in his hair.

He wanted to hold your hand. He really, really wanted to reach out and hold your hand in his, to make sure your hands were never cold. But, did you want to? He didn't know, and still didn't feel bold enough to ask you.

Something that Green didn't know, was that he kept sending longing looks to your hand when he thought you weren't looking. And after a few days, you decided to take the step that he still couldn't take.

"Uh-" The hero almost jumped when he felt something touching his hand, cheeks quickly turning red as he noticed that it was your hand.

You grinned at him, trying not to laugh. "My hand was cold." Lies, he could feel how warm your hand was, but he didn't mention it.

"Is this okay then?" He intertwined your fingers, feeling a bit braver after you had taken the initiative. Still, his heart was beating so fast it felt like it would jump out of his chest.

"Yup, perfect."

He spent the whole day smiling after that, remembering the feeling of your hand in his. Next time, he wouldn't hesitate to hold your hand.

Seeing Vio smile, truly smile, was a sight that never failed to make your heart jump. You didn't understand much of what he was saying, but tried your best to follow.

He had found some books in Wild's era and it was obvious that he was excited about the things he had found out, and the theories that had started appearing in his mind as many of the books were pretty old and weren't in the best state.

"...so the malice may have affected the monsters making them more aggressive or stronger than usual. That could have something to do with the Shadow-" He stopped. "Uh, I'm talking a lot, sorry."

You quickly shook your head with a smile. "No, no, continue! I love hearing you talk about these things. I don't understand a lot, but your theories are interesting."

Vio's cheeks gained a soft, almost unnoticeable red color. The tip of his ears was also a bit red. He cleared his throat, trying to keep the heat from reaching his cheeks and making his blush more noticeable.

"If you say so..." Then, he continued talking, slowly going back to being excited about his own theories.

He looked so cute when he was like this. You could hear and watch him for hours, although you had to stop yourself from kissing his cheek as to avoid interrupting him.

aw i love this idea!! I hope I got enough hunters in haha (✯ᴗ✯) this was more like headcanons rather than one scenario, but I hope you like it anyway! i've included: Burke, Mary, Michiko, Yimi, Yidhra, Robbie, Violetta, Ann, Galatea, Leo, and Joseph. (mentions of Emma too!)

there were many nights when Burke Lapadura wondered if he had been too cruel to the young children he once knew. it had been so long ago, he wondered if he really was too old and cranky to be a grandfather. unfortunately for the old goon, kids just flocked to him! first it was Robbie, sweet kid, albeit a little overly excited, and more interested in that Galatea's sculptures than his mechanical work. then it was Yimi, who, when she rarely appeared, begged Burke to pull her hair back when it had come out after Yidhra had done it. he had hoped it would end there, kids were just so... energetic. and he was old! give him a break! but then she appeared. a little blonde-haired girl who was very quiet, but with no ill intent. she had no name, only going by Memory. and she was, surprisingly, very interested in his work! oh how marvelous! and of course, Burke wasn't the only one who had become very interested in how the little girl appeared. Mary immediately flocked to the young girl, practically begging to take care of her just gorgeous hair! it was sort of endearing to see Mary and Michiko dressing Memory up. Memory seemed to really like spending time with the two ladies. after a short while, Memory was practically adopted by the entire hunter side of the manor. Leo considered her another child, next to Emma, of course. nobody could beat his Emma in his eyes. Robbie and Yimi began recruiting Memory for their "amazing" plans, even though they were definitely not the safest ideas. it's hard for them to remember that Memory is still a living human who is small, and is very squishy. Violetta made clothes for nearly everyone in the manor. first it was Ann's cats, collars and little hats, then a scarf for Galatea, who muttered about how cold "Leos' memory" was. maybe a dress or two for Mary, and then one for Yimi, who fell in love with the dress Mary was wearing. and then she made Memory a little jacket because 'she's just a girl! she must be so cold out there in that snow!" speaking of Galatea, she loved making wooden sculptures for Robbie out of the wood he chopped, and now she could make toys for Memory to enjoy while she was at the manor. it was unfortunate that she didn't have any toys to enjoy, and Galatea thought she might get bored! Memory saw one of Ann's cats while she was playing with Robbie, and now in every match she just has to go up and pet one of those kitties. they're too cute, ok?! I'm not saying Joseph takes tons of pictures of Memory in her new dresses, but I'm totally saying that. his passion doesn't stop at portraits, and come on, Memory looks so cute in that dress Vio made... Yes, the hunters definitely loved Memory. she was just too cute!
