one time I was kayaking with some friends and we came around a bend that had a little beach. the bank held a few families with little kids. all of whom were having a grand time doing river beach in bumfuck, tennessee activities.

as we were out in nature, there happened to be a little snake guy swimming through the water, just minding his business doing river snake in bumfuck, tennessee things.

upon spotting the little snake guy, one of the adults calls the kids back to shore. not an unexpected move as there are several venomous snakes to watch out for in the south–namely copperheads, rattle snakes, and cottonmouths. cottonmouths are also referred to as water moccasins, a moniker earned as they are frequently found in/near bodies of water. most children in the south are taught which snakes to avoid pretty early on. and so understandably the snake warning makes the kids scared. my "brother" skylar was the closest to our slithery little guy. he calls out to the bank that the snake is harmless.

now. as a kid who grew up in bumfuck, alabama watching animal planet I've always loved little creatures.

my summers were spent exploring creeks and swamps looking for crawdads and little fishies and lizards and turtles and snakes and pollywogs and salamanders and frogs.

did this love for little creatures cause an inadvertent introduction of an invasive species? yes. but sometimes childhood curiosity causes whoopsie-doodles.

my love for little creatures never went away. I was curious, not afraid. and as fortune favors the bold, the snake swam my way. once the little creature was close enough, I gently lifted it from the water with my paddle so I could get a better look.

it looked like a snake.

my friend slid off and back into the water, swimming closer to me, under my kayak, then popping up on the other side. now that it was near enough, that childhood curiosity came back in full force. I did what I thought anyone in my situation would do.

I gave my snaky friend a couple of light strokes on the tail as he swam away.

once we were a ways around the bumfuck, tennessee river beach, skylar turns to me and furiously whisper-shouts, "why the fuck did you touch that thing?" confused by his ire I say, "because you said it was harmless?"

he gives me a look that can only be described as incredulous before speaking again, "yeah dumbass. I was lying because I didn't want those kids to freak out. the adults knew what kind of snake it was."

brow furrowed, I demand, "then why the fuck did you let me touch it?"

that's when my husband, who previously hadn't been listening to our conversation asks, "wait? did you really touch it?"

I give him a Look. "of course I did, that shouldn't be surprising."

our party stops paddling, all eyes are now on me.

"you touching a snake isn't the issue. the issue is you touching a water moccasin."

it's my turn to be incredulous. "how the fuck was I supposed to know that? skylar said it was harmless, so of course I touched it!"

"all skylar does is lie to fuck around around with people, something you most definitely know."

skylar chimes in once more, "to be fair to myself, I thought she knew I was lying."

obviously I did not.

anyway. the moral of this story is to not let your childlike wonder in the world around you die so that you may forevermore go on curiosity quests.

also maybe don't trust your "brother" when it comes to venomous wildlife.

The next day while Lucifer was at a meeting, Adam flew to the part of Pentagram City where Hellborn usually lived. He saw the building he was looking for which was a skyscraper with imp horns on it. He walked in and used the elevator to floor where the office for I.M.P. was. He knew Lucifer wanted Adam to stay safe, but this trial was really important to him. He wanted to prove there was some foul play going on. Once inside he saw at receptionist’s desk an owl like demon, just person he was looking for.

Stolas: I.M.P., right now the agents are on job, but do you need any help?

Adam: Actually I was looking for you Stolas. I am Adam the First Man and I was looking through court records with Lucifer about your trial and there is a lot that doesn’t add up.

Stolas: What do you mean? I confessed to everything, I was the mastermind.

Adam: Look, a lot doesn’t add up because it doesn’t. Why would you do things like give an imp access to Earth when you can use the Grimoire yourself to go there? Why would you put a hit on yourself?

Adam could tell that Stolas looked very nervous.

Stolas: They were going to put Blitzø to death and I couldn’t stand by and let that happen.

Adam: Is it because you love him?

Stolas: Yes.

Adam: I would have done the same for the one I love.

Stolas: I just don’t realize I would lose so much.

Adam: Your powers?

Stolas: My daughter, Octavia is my world and she hates me over everything that happened.

Hearing that Adam couldn’t help but empathize with Stolas, his children were his world as well. He would also feel so much guilt if any of his children felt unloved.

Adam: I want to help you, maybe I can help you with this and getting your daughter to talk to you again.

Adam couldn’t help but find Stolas adorable when he smiled.

Stolas: Thank you.

But then Adam saw a dot from a sniper rifle being aimed at Stolas. He pushed Stolas to the ground when a bullet grazed his shoulder.

Adam: FUCK!!!!!

The bullet was Angelic Steel, Adam flew through the windows and found the snake like imp hybrid.

Adam: Your Striker, the assassin hired to kill Stolas. I can’t let that happen.

Striker: What’s one less blue blood in Hell? Why should I care about you?

Striker aimed his gun at Adam’s forehead.

Adam: I wouldn’t do that if I were you,

Striker: Why?

Adam: Because you will have to deal with very pissed off King of Hell.

Striker turned to see Lucifer in his demon form.

Abel Son of Adam and Lucifer

Back in the days of Eden when Lilith was convincing Eve to eat the Forbidden Fruit, Lucifer was making love to Adam. Even though Lilith lied and said that Adam was trying to control her, they were both happy to see each other. Adam told Lucifer that Eve was pregnant with his child and how he wanted to be pregnant with Lucifer’s child. Lucifer agreed to what Adam wanted and made love to him. He decided that he would stay in Eden with Adam and Lilith could go or stay if she desired. But Lilith was caught and told the angels that Lucifer convinced Eve to eat the Forbidden Fruit. Lucifer was banished with Lilith to Hell and Adam left Eden when they banished Eve from it saying that he would help her create humanity. Eve gave birth to Cain and Adam gave birth to Abel. Thousands of years later it was believed that Adam was killed in Hell, but he became a fallen angel. Lucifer was shocked to get a phone call from Rosie.

Lucifer: Hello.

Rosie: You may want to come to Cannibal Town right now.

Lucifer: Why?

Rosie: You know how many of my cannibals cleaned the battlefield? Well a certain angel was taken from the battlefield and woke up before his body was butchered.

Lucifer: Adam is alive?

Rosie: Yes and he is a fallen angel now.

Lucifer hung up his phone and sprouted his wings to fly to Cannibal Town. Susan was complaining outside of Rosie’s home saying that she wanted to eat Adam. Lucifer walked past her and walked it. Rosie was sitting with Adam who now had black and gold horns as well as greyish skin, shimmery black wings, fangs instead of teeth, black sclera in his eyes, and lamb like ears. He was picking at the cookies Rosie provided looking absolutely miserable. But when he looked up at Lucifer he looked hopeful.

Adam: I want to see our son.

Lucifer: Abel? Adam I..... I don't know if I can swing that.

Adam stood up: Why not?

Lucifer: The Extermination just ended, Heaven is more than a little pissed off at the moment they aren't going to do me a favor.

Adam looked down sadly, he needed to let their son know that he was alive and okay. Relatively speaking of course, he was stabbed in the back. He sniffed, Abel was probably worried about him when all the angels came back and he didn't.

Lucifer: Thank you Rosie for keeping Susan away from him.

Rosie: No problem your majesty, she's a stubborn old bitch but I can take her.

Lucifer put his arm around Adams waist: Come on Addie, let's go.

Adam nodded sadly going with Lucifer, he opened a portal to the Morningstar Manor where Adam collapsed on the couch and cried.

Lucifer handed him a cell phone: You can call him.

Adam sat up and took the phone: Yeah! I'll call him, he'll answer the phone for me.

I love how we're never given a reason why she turns people into animals. That's so funny and so awful. And another potion-making magic gal?!?! I love that she's just basically vibing on an island doing whatever she wants. I even love the fact that she scares Odysseus shitless! She's morally gray and that's why she's FUN.

I just sincerely hate when people try to girlboss her or have her be a victim of SA when she never was Looking at you, Miller. Especially when she was actually the one who coerced Odysseus in exchange for his men being transformed back into humans. And even then, while he was clearly afraid of her, (it's in the language of the Odyssey) she likely meant him no harm after a certain point. He just didn't know that.

Why does she need a reason to do awful things? Why can't she just be a goddess who does whatever she wants? That's the reason why I love her!!! She's fucked up!!! :D
