i love lists so here is my list of my‏‏‎ ‎favorite‏‏‎ ‎dash‏‏‎ ‎episodes. there are some episodes that are important to her character but regardless are not on the list because of some other reason (like‏‏‎ ‎read‏‏‎ ‎it‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎weep‏‏‎ ‎which is big for her development but gives me terrible secondhand embarrassment when she's trying to get her friends out of her hospital room.‏‏‎ ‎or‏‏‎ ‎newbie‏‏‎ ‎dash‏‏‎ ‎which again is a big deal but the secondhand embarrassment!!! also i feel like the issue with that episode wasn't that she got an embarrassing nickname it's that she got a nickname specifically related to her childhood trauma and i'm still kind of upset they glossed over that in particular. but whatever. episodes in chronological order! under cut because long.)

s1e16‏‏‎ ‎sonic‏‏‎ ‎rainboom:‏‏‎ ‎a CLASSIC of course. obviously on the list because she gets to be cool and awesome and show up her asshole bullies but also because we get to see past her bravado and witness how hard she works to keep up her confidence and even she can't do that all the time. lucky for her i find vulnerability very attractive

s3e12‏‏‎ ‎games‏‏‎ ‎ponies‏‏‎ ‎play: her excitement is sweet and this is the origin of speedy the most adorable nickname for her so i have to put it on here

s4e5‏‏‎ ‎flight‏‏‎ ‎to‏‏‎ ‎the‏‏‎ ‎finish:‏‏‎ ‎while the episode isn't really about her i love a) how sweet she is to‏‏‎ ‎scootaloo‏‏‎ ‎here‏‏‎ ‎and b) her trying to be Cool Collected and Professional that's also one of my all time weak spots. plus the return of her coach gear

s4e21‏‏‎ ‎testing‏‏‎ ‎testing‏‏‎ ‎1‏‏‎ ‎2‏‏‎ ‎3:‏‏‎ ‎one of my all time favorite dash‏‏‎ ‎episodes. she's at her prime dork‏‏‎ ‎ass‏‏‎ ‎loser (affectionate) but also once again opens up about genuine vulnerabilities and insecurities for her and it makes me want to comfort her sooooo bad some of the sounds she makes in this episode are so sad. plus the way she catalogues everything she sees while flying is really awesome. this whole episode is why i get mad when i see people calling her dumb too often. like yeah she's impulsive and reckless and not traditionally booksmart but it makes me so mad when people make her into a complete childish idiot like you missed the whole point of the damn episode!!! also further confirmation that‏‏‎ ‎astraldash‏‏‎ ‎is‏‏‎ ‎autism4adhd‏‏‎ ‎

s5e5‏‏‎ ‎tanks‏‏‎ ‎for‏‏‎ ‎the‏‏‎ ‎memories:‏‏‎ ‎this also only barely makes it onto the list and also the idea that there has not been a single winter between seasons‏‏‎ ‎2‏‏‎ ‎and 5 makes my brain hurt‏‏‎ ‎BUT.‏‏‎ ‎she gets a solo song which is awesome And Um Again. Vulnerability Is Attractive To Me Sorry <//3 her outfits in this episode are also super cute her little bathrobe with slippers and her winter outfit.

s5e15‏‏‎ ‎rarity‏‏‎ ‎investigates:‏‏‎ ‎also one of my all time favorite episodes.‏‏‎ ‎rarity‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎dash‏‏‎ ‎have SUCH a cute silly dynamic that's really underutilized for me and they're at their peak here.‏‏‎ ‎also‏‏‎ ‎while‏‏‎ ‎i don't have anywhere near as big‏‏‎ ‎rarity‏‏‎ ‎feelings‏‏‎ ‎as‏‏‎ ‎i‏‏‎ ‎have‏‏‎ ‎dash feelings‏‏‎ ‎it's still really delightful for my gay‏‏‎person‏‏‎ ‎instincts.‏‏‎ ‎also acknowledgement that dash's voice is raspy‏‏‎ ‎idk why‏‏‎ ‎this is significant to me i just think her voice is really cute and i like when it has attention drawn to it

s6e9 the‏‏‎ ‎saddle‏‏‎ ‎row‏‏‎ ‎review: i LOVE the format of this episode the little interview asides are SOOOOO good this episode has a ton of good jokes.‏‏‎ ‎excellent and wonderful dashies‏‏‎ ‎i love her joining in with‏‏‎ ‎twilight's‏‏‎ ‎sweeping song and her‏‏‎ ‎repeatedly‏‏‎ ‎asking if the interviewer is going to be writing this down and her confidently saying "this chair? not clothes :)"

s6e13‏‏‎ ‎stranger‏‏‎ ‎than‏‏‎ ‎fan‏‏‎ ‎fiction: i like seeing her nerd side‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎her‏‏‎ ‎being‏‏‎ ‎really‏‏‎ ‎smug when‏‏‎ ‎they‏‏‎ ‎meet‏‏‎ ‎with‏‏‎ ‎daring‏‏‎ ‎do‏‏‎ ‎is super funny but this still ranks low on the overall ranking because i hate how condescending‏‏‎ ‎quibble‏‏‎ ‎is to her. i think he's the kind of guy who would get really uncomfortable if someone told him he was mansplaining but can't help doing it anyway.

s6e24‏‏‎ ‎top‏‏‎ ‎bolt:‏‏‎ ‎this used to be one of my all time favorite episodes‏‏‎ ‎because it was‏‏‎ ‎like The‏‏‎ ‎twidash‏‏‎ ‎episode and before i knew what‏‏‎ ‎selfshipping‏‏‎ ‎was i was all about‏‏‎ ‎twidash‏‏‎ ‎for reasons that are obvious now. even though it's not my favorite ship anymore (though of every canon x canon‏‏‎ ‎dash ship‏‏‎ ‎it's‏‏‎ ‎still my favorite right in front of‏‏‎ ‎raridash‏‏‎) ‎i do still love the dynamic and i think dash has some really really good bits here

this is as far as i've gotten in my rewatch so these are episodes that i remember being good in terms of‏‏‎ ‎dash‏‏‎ ‎content but cannot verify for 100%.

s8e5 grannies‏‏‎ ‎gone‏‏‎ ‎wild:‏‏‎ ‎i don't remember this episode in great detail but i know it has dash‏‏‎ ‎trying‏‏‎ ‎hard‏‏‎ ‎to be‏‏‎ ‎Responsible which again i really enjoy and i also enjoy funny old people so this is a fave of mine

s9e6‏‏‎ ‎common‏‏‎ ‎ground:‏‏‎ ‎for one thing it killed‏‏‎ ‎a‏‏‎ ‎dash‏‏‎ ‎x‏‏‎ ‎male‏‏‎ ‎character ship which is always great. and for another thing it has her being a‏‏‎ ‎Cool‏‏‎ ‎Adult to a kid who thinks she's really neat which i ADORE i love her being nice to kids SO. MUCH. really really delightful all around especially for a season 9‏‏‎ ‎episod‏‏‎e‏‏‎ ‎(they are...kind of hit or miss to me)

I haven’t been on tumblr for quite as long as a lot of people but over several years I’ve noticed this interesting gradual sorta,, shift in the general culture? that it went from this mostly depressed, nihilistic outlook where people would regularly joke about hating themselves and being hopeless and depressed, to a wave of vehemence of “STOP hating everything actually the world is Good and you deserve love!!!” type posts, to now, where those aggressive ‘PSAs’ have faded away and instead I regularly see people romanticizing simple things like stars and hot tea and rainy mornings, and waxing poetic about their friends, and just trying to put love out there. and I don’t know exactly what that means (someone who knows more than me could probably say something smart about generational expression and trauma or popular perception of mental health and whatnot), but I do know that it makes my heart very full to see people learn to love the world and themselves by extension, and a whole userbase adopting healthier coping mechanisms, and therefore teaching the younger users to do so as well. I might just be following different people, but I really do think we’ve grown. everyone has grown. five years ago it wasn’t unusual for the next post on my dash to be a scathing commentary on why nothing matters or an anon ripping into someone they barely knew or someone complaining about how pathetic their interests are. now I have mutuals who get excited and spam reblog art of cows and friends I see tagging each other in pictures of frogs and strangers writing paragraphs about how much I matter. it makes me happy. idk. just an observation I wanted to make. I think people are good and everyone’s just trying their best at the end of the day
