jamie tartt really strikes me as the sort of like. big big puppy dog doesnt realize he is in fact not seven pounds. obviously he Knows the weight he's got and the Power behind it when it counts and he's throwing his weight around during a game or he and the lads are wrestling or when he certainly tackled roy to the ground during their bar fight like he Knows. i don't think he really considers it outside of these contexts tho. like. throws his whole weight into roy's lap in his chair in his office. the wheels arent locked the leaning lever isnt locked roy wasnt ready to counterbalance and they both end up backwards on the floor with jamie's full weight on his chest. roy voice "think you broke my rib." jamie, giggling "your hip, more like"

How do you feel about people accusing you that you’ve been “mean” or “harsh” because of your analysis of Rin’s academic intelligence or attention span?

I've gotten like ten of these kind of asks, so I'm going to answer this one since it's newest. There are a few things going on here.

1) I don't know if you intended it this way, anon, but you are allowed to just say that you think I'm mean and harsh. It's okay to have opinions. That doesn't mean all opinions are correct, but it's okay to have them and own that you have them.

Having said that, I haven't seen any accusing. All the direct interactions with my post have been fairly positive even when people disagreed with a point I made. If someone is accusing me of something then it's a post I haven't seen or they've blocked me and if that's the case, more power to them for using tumblr's features like they should ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

2) Rin is not intelligent academically. Rin himself says this repeatedly. Most of the people around him point this out. Rin's scores point this out. Rin being that way is a part of his character and an important part of the plot in more than just making him a relatable character. Rin doesn't do things he doesn't see a point in, and Rin also actively avoids studying/learning about a lot of things because he does not like being confronted with being a demon. He starts the manga off with having specific opinions about his own abilities while also ignoring/trying to avoid his own hand in that. (Skipping school, not pursuing friends, letting his temper get the best of him, etc.) He doesn't think he's capable in school so we see him not really pursue that. It isn't until later in the story that we see him put some effort in, and that's usually because his friends are studying and he's with them. We still see him scoring poorly on his other subjects. If they make it out of this war and return to school, I believe we'll start to see some of that change.

3) Rin's attention span being short isn't an insult (nor is his academic intelligence) and something that I feel is a trait of his and a feeling I think the manga backs up. He quickly loses focus on tasks he deems uninteresting and seldom listen through instructions. Outside of cooking at least. He struggles to listen through plans and prefers winging it which is why, at least in the first half of the story, he indulges his wandering attention. If it isn't wandering attention it leans far more towards him just being rude and dismissive, which fits him pre forest camp arc, maybe, but doesn't really fit him post.

My guy 2.0 has OCPD (Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder) overlapped with a bit of Schizotypal Personality Disorder (these are different to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - OCD and Schizoid Personality Disorder - SPD!)

ramble in detail below (aka me nerding the fuck out), cw: mental health disorders, canon-typical violence

STPD -> extreme social anxiety, unusual behaviour and odd beliefs (the simplest way to differentiate this to SPD is SPD is more like a detached and indifferent behaviour while STPD is more manic, like rambling in a weird way or have intense superstition, but they can overlap)

OCPD -> maladaptive pattern of extreme and excessive perfectionism, preoccupation with orderliness and details, it is a must to have control over their own environment (they're slightly different to OCD in terms of self-beliefs, in OCPD it's more often they think their behavior is resolute and correct, they don't think there's anything wrong with them. But in OCD it's more about knowing their compulsions are irrational and unwanted but can't stop them, leading to intense anxiety and distress)

I think König is very hypersensitive to his surroundings and is rigid with his routines and planning, one small detour and he's acting up. I feel like he's the kind that also does a weird ritual before missions or something important (like idk maybe he'll have to rub his red bead bracelet three times before a shot), and he needs these rituals to function. He also collects teeth as trophies. He's also the kind that counts his steps internally when he moves. His sniper hood is one way to hide his obsessive behaviour, I always imagined he would pick his skin or run his thumbs and fingers too harshly against his face that leaves a trail of indents and scars to cope when things doesn't get his way.
