Just Doing My Job
Stuntman!JJ Maybank x Director!reader
requested by @thornyrose463
Being a movie director had its perks. You loved your job, you really did. You had all the power. You always had to make sure all the actors were good and all the technical aspects of the scene were good.
JJ was smitten. He had a massive crush on you. He was way to nervous to act on it though. JJ was a stuntman on the set you worked on. JJ was great at his job. He excelled at it. He was excited because he got to work with you everyday.
JJ was doing a particularly hard stunt. He had to fall from a tall height. JJ was a professional he had this in the bag. “Alright action,” you yelled. JJ fell and landed on an air mattress. “And cut.” “Very nicely done JJ,” you complimented.
“Thank you,” JJ replied. JJ’s next stunt was a car crash. The car was also going to explode. JJ knew it was going to be a little difficult but he knew he was going to nail it. You called out action and JJ preformed his stunt beautifully.
“Hey JJ, come here we’re gonna talk about the scene,” you called out to him.
JJ always got so flustered around you. He just got really nervous because you were so pretty and he thought so highly of you. “Okay.”
“So how do you think you did?”
“Oh um I-i i think i did okay, what did you think?” JJ asked.
“Well there’s some points I have to discuss with you but overall i think it went well.”
JJ was trying to get the nerve to ask you out. He just was so scared you would judge him. He also didn’t want to ruin the work relationship he had with you. He was already awkward enough he couldn’t imagine if things got even more awkward.
“Thank you,” JJ responded.
“Hey JJ, great job today. Get some rest for a good day tomorrow,” you ordered.
“Yes m’am.”
——————
The next work day went well. JJ wasn’t doing as many stunts as yesterday but he still had to be there because he was doing some stunts. You arrived early to get a jump start on the day. JJ watched you as you worked, not in a creepy way in an endearing way.
The work day trudged on. You did your job as director. Being the boss and directing the actors. After a while you told them to take 5. This is where JJ came up to you.
“Hey uh how are you?” JJ bit his lip nervously.
“I’m hanging in there,” you responded.
“Anything I can do to help?” JJ asked fiddling with his fingers.
“Oh no i’m good just working hard,” you smiled. JJ thought it was the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.
JJ was trying to get the courage to talk to you more he was just so nervous. He was determined to ask you out the next time he saw you.
—————
JJ was back doing his stunts. It was the next work day and he was on fire. Literally. It was a new stunt for the movie and he was killing it. He was very good at his job and you were impressed. With his adrenaline from the stunt he found himself walking towards you.
After his scene he went up to you and nervously asked if he can have a word. Of course you said sure like it was the most easy thing to say.
Now JJ was scared because of the chance of possible rejection but also what would happen to your work relationship. He ultimately decided that it was worth it to even get the chance to ask you out.
“Um i was just wondering if you wanted to go out with me sometime. Maybe we can go grab some coffee, i i don’t know only if you want to.”
“I thought you’d never ask,” you grinned.
“Rrreally? you’d like too? you want to?”
“Yes of course.”
When you agreed on a day the two of you went out. JJ charmed you. He was a gentleman the whole time. And it was safe to say there will be a second date.

I find it really cute just how much Mikey looks up to Leo
It’s obvious that Leo inspires Mikey but something that is really cute is how much Mikey does actually take after Leo, & how there are times Mikey will be seen saying phrases similar to things that Leo has said.
Leo: I can’t wait to save Raph so I can rub it in his face
Mikey: Time to snag that game, go home and rub it in Raph’s face
The are even certain behaviour’s that Mikey probably learnt from Leo, for example both Leo & Mikey do the same kind of smug face meaning Mikey probably learned it from Leo
And even in the movie you can see Mikey mimicking Leo’s body language or behaviour.
Leo: Ahem?
Mikey: Ahem?
It’s just really cute how much Mikey looks up to Leo & how the things that Leo says & does inspires & motivates Mikey
Leo: That big jerk may be covered in goo and half alien, but he’s still our brother, and I’m not giving up on him. I’m not leaving him behind.
Mikey: Leo never gave up on us. I’m not giving up on him.
Leo is Mikey’s big brother & its really cute just how much Leo inspires Mikey & how much Mikey looks up to Leo & how there’s a part of Mikey that wants to be just like the brother that he loves so much.

Rating (almost) every Cherry Magic iteration
Manga, Japanese Drama, Chinese Radio Drama, Japanese Drama Movie, Thai Drama, Anime
After rewatching (almost) every iteration of the story multiple times, I've compiled a list of my personal reviews for each adaptation (and the manga) and how much I would recommend them, what they each did well and what they might have lacked.
Manga:
Personal Score: 9.5/10 (only because it's still on going)
Objective Score: 9/10
Skipability: 0, you can't understand the whole story without the manga and also, you're missing out.
If you're reading this post, you probably know the plot of Cherry Magic, so I won't explain much about that. Since this is mostly to rate the adaptations in comparison to the manga, I can only emphasize how important the entirety of the manga is to understand cherry magic. Doesn't matter how many adaptations you've watched, I don't think you can truly consider yourself a fan if you don't engage with the manga. It's the only version where everything has the proper time to be fleshed out, especially in regards to Adachi, Kurosawa and their relationship. Toyota's writing as the story goes on is something to marvel at and unfortunately, the adaptations have yet to reach that far to represent it properly. The art progression is also noticeable and even if the art style puts you off at first you can see and appreciate the improvement.
Japanese Drama (2020):
Personal score: 9.5/10
Objective score: 8.5/10
Skippability: Maybe a 2-3, you can still enjoy the story without it but it's worth seeing how the drama influenced the manga.
Arguably the most popular and most successful iteration of the story, the Japanese drama of Cherry Magic deserves every bit of praise it gets. Before I get into the pros and cons, I need to contextualise the environment the jdrama was created and aired in because recent conversations lack nuance on that aspect. The Cherimaho drama was produced and aired on TvTokyo in 2020 and it was the station's second BL drama, the first being the incredible slice of life gay cooking drama, What Did You Eat Yesterday? So, wanting to replicate the success of that, the creators wanted to focus on the human drama aspect of Cherry Magic without, of course, toning down its LGBT themes. And they did exactly that. And they did that very well. The execution, while not flawless, was incredible start to end. The way they adapted the characters into a more toned down environment felt natural, and not too far off from their original characterisation. It's a visual feast and among all adaptations, it has the best and most memorable soundtrack. The strongest point of this adaptation has to be Kurosawa as well as the way more minor characters were handled and fleshed out. The progression of the relationship feels natural and they managed to adapt the manga's fast pace in a way that doesn't feel rushed on film form.
As for the weak points, it all comes down to the second half of the show, which I feel I need to give context for once again: Cherimaho drama was created when the manga was merely at volume 4 (in events, that's their first date) and Toyota had shared with the writing team her drafts for volume 5. So, after the confession, the drama had to create original plot lines which, while not bad, did feel different from the strong beginning of the show. The most complained about is the rushed handling of Tsuge and Minato's relationship, which was to be expected as they had so little interactions at that point in the manga. And, of courss, the thing the jdrama is notorious for: the lack of a kiss scene. Was it disappointing? Yes. But believe me when I say that it's literally not as a big deal when you watch the entire show. The show does not shy away from its queerness and there is nothing in their actions that could be interpreted as platonic. This poor production choice (which we can assume was implemented by someone else, tvtokyo has also removed straight kisses from adaptations for some reason and also it Was the height of covid) should not sully your experience with the show and in no way does it take away from its queerness. This version also features an asexual character as well as a mini arc for them so it's clear that the writers knew what they were doing and they were doing their best and it's so clearly conveyed in the gentleness of the show. It is also evident in the movie sequel, but more on that on its time to review.
All in all, I would say you need to experience the jdrama as it becomes a set point for the manga; the story shifts in the best way possible and it's all thanks to the jdrama and its unpredictable success.
(Though nothing beats watching it weekly during COVID)
Chinese radio drama (2022):
Personal score: 9/10
Objective score: 9/10
Skippability: Above a 6 since it's not really influential but I am not exaggerating when I say you are missing out maybe the best spin on the story thus far.
Cherry Magic's first and best foreign adaptation to date. First of all, we need to acknowledge how bananas it is for a niche yaoi manga to get a chinese radio drama because of its drama's success. Second of all, it's hilarious and incredibly romantic and the best and most creative take on the story. The localisation made for some interesting changes in the story and when it came to original plot lines, they nailed every single one. It's been a hot minute since I rewatched it but it's such a memorable piece of media. It's extremely underrated considering how accessible it is (thank you naina <3). Audio form foreign media may be hard to get into but the radio drama deserves every second of your time. Literally the only weak point I can mention for this adaptation is that it's not a visual medium and it's hard to get used to at first. But the voice acting, the character writing, the music, the manga and original plots— everything was executed near perfection.
Oh and it's just fucking hilarious. Like, extremely so.
Japanese Drama Sequel Movie (2022):
Personal score: 9/10
Objective score: 8/10
Skippability: 0 if you've watched the jdrama.
Cherimaho the Movie was announced on November 28th 2021 for a, later revealed, April 2022 release. And us international fans were able to watch it on November 8th 2022.... And yes, it was worth it! A manga loyal sequel to the jdrama, which had an original ending, was a bit hard to execute so there are points you have to suspend your belief. But this sequel was a nice last peek into the relationship of jdrama Adachi and Kurosawa and a well done farewell to the jdrama franchise. I was especially moved by the tackling of the reality of a long term gay relationship and the way the characters handled it. The movie is essentially split into two halves and both are crucial for Adachi and Kurosawa's development. If I had to mention a weak point, besides one or two scenes, it would be that I would love for certain events and character actions to be more in line with the manga but I am also aware that those changes were made to fit the characterisation already set by the Japanese Drama. Oh and the no kiss thing is still an issue somehow. But again, the rest of the story being good enough makes up for it. Still questionable production choices.
Thai Drama (2023-2024)
Personal score: 4/10
Objective score: 6/10
Skippability: 10, only recommended out of morbid curiosity.
Harsh score. What did the show get so wrong? I will admit being biased against it at first. Right after the movie had just dropped, a new adaptation is announced and almost immediately steals the spotlight. It doesn't help that it's produced by GMMTV, who, along with japanese channel MBS, I consider the most annoying BL factories (with the rare exceptions) for fans and shows alike. I also wasn't thrilled that the casting was decided on a pre-existing couple rather than which actors would fit each individual character best. But I tried to look forward to it, especially since the cast and crew insisted that this was a manga adaptation rather than a remake and that they would go beyond the plot lines the japanese drama did. I had some gripes with the jdrama in comparison to the manga so that was good to hear. After a while, they dropped a few trailers and I decided that my worries were probably for nothing and that the show seemed interesting and we produced. And it surprisingly was! For a few episodes, at least. The localisation is very well done. Adachi's living situation, his transport to work, the work environment— vastly different from the original setting but successfully adapted to Thai culture. This version is a lot more lighthearted on about everything. At first, this was a fun spin. Focusing on its comedy, since it's a strong point of the earlier story. But, as the show went on, that wasn't necessarily a good thing. The strong point of this adaptation was the first few episodes as well as the production quality. It's visually beautiful as far as settings, Tay and Jan go. The runtime being longer kind of worked in their favor, as each episode would cover more ground (with exception ep1 which managed to adapt like 15 pages into 50 minutes). Another strong point is the handling of Tsuge and Minato—although their age gap wasn't properly conveyed, the chemistry they had, even if they were a bit out of character, was fun enough. Unlike the Jdrama, the writers here had a clearer visiom of what they wanted to do with them (and they also had like 7 more volumes of content).
Unfortunately, this is as far as my praises go. The weakest point of this show is its main character. Adachi, in this show Achi, is the most unlikeable protagonist I've seen in a hot minute—and I was watching Ossans Love while this was airing. Generally, he's not even that bad ; but he's kind of run of the mill stereotypical uke archetype you'd find in those manufactured BLs, pretty opposite of what Adachi is. He goes through no character development as he begins pretty much at where Adachi ends and he's just so uninteresting to follow. The actor didn't do a great job either but to his defense, he wasn't given much to work with. Kurosawa's counterpart, Karan was way better, at least but he can't make up for the protagonist. The completely made up heterosexual ship between Fujisaki and Rokakku (Pai and Rock here) was a pain to watch especially since they tried to keep Pai's independent nature from the Jdrama (where she was canonically aroace) which just made her disinterested in Rock's advances until the very last episode where she's suddenly into him–if i wanted to watch a badly paced heterosexual couple I wouldn't be watching a BL, respectfully. But besides all that, I think this adaptation was a wasted opportunity. It clearly had budget and time. But it relied heavily on the Jdrama instead of the manga and well, that's fine for fans of the drama but promising manga accuracy and delivering an even more sanitised version of the jdrama was just a huge disappointment. Why should I relive the japanese drama? What's YOUR take on the manga?
Also to clarify rumours I've seen spread around, Toyota was not involved in the making. The japanese side that needed to approve the script was not directly reporting to Toyota because another company has the rights to distribute the Cherry Magic IP, she wasn't as involved in negotiations and stuff as people claim she was, especially considering she learned of the show's existence a few days before the general public did. The usage of AI art in the drama's promotion despite Toyota being vocally anti AI was also a point of disconnect that left a bitter taste in my mouth. But also I acknowledge that Cherry Magic Thailand exists mostly for Thai fans, probably in a similar way the 80% of my country's tv shows are remakes and honestly good for them, I'd love to have a CM remake in my culture even if it's not "perfect" and I'm sure parts I personally found confusing as changes make sense in a way I cannot understand, hence why the objective score is pretty higher than my personal score.
Anime (2024)
Personal score: 8.5/10
Objective score: 7.5/10
Skippability: 4, cute and loyal enough so it's worth checking out
The much anticipated Cherry Magic anime was something, alright. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish but it, unfortunately, has some glaringly big problems when it comes to its animation. For the runtime they were given, they were able to include much more than I thought they would and even if the pace tended to be faster than expected at times it wasn't as much of a problem; I love Cherry Magic a lot and I believe its strongest narratives begin after volume 5 or so and I'm glad we had the chance to see a little of that as well. The voice acting is definitely the greatest thing about this adaptation. In most of CM's adaptations, Kurosawa's actor tends to always stand out more but the anime for me is a bit more balanced; both Kobayashi and Suzuki are extremely talented and passionate in this. Thankfully, the same passion is also transmitted in the english dub, which is so fucking funny. A lot of people were disappointed with the last episode, as they fast forwarded some things for a grand finale but I'm willing to let it slide because at least they are self aware about the impossibility of a second season and chose to show some highlights we might not have gotten otherwise. Plus, they're making up with the movie so, we'll see! Back to the animation though, some episodes were criminal to sit through. It's sad because this treatment is likely because CM is a josei bl manga and animation projects like that tend to get the short end of the stick a Lot. That piano BGM *you know the one* was also frustrating at times. And I wish the colors popped a little more, yknow?
Honorable mention: Audio Drama (2019-)
I can't score it because I listened to it once on a bus ride and I'm not even sure I finished it. I'm sure I'll come back to it.
Happy Cherimaho The Musical to all those who still celebrate <3 And if you made it all the way here, don't forget to check the Cherry Magic Masterdoc <3

angst to fluff matt sturniolo but he's stubborn about talking it out with reader so it lasts long to the point where reader gets frustrated yk? maybe this is too specific 😭 also if u do this, do it however!!
did you mean it? - m.s
pairings: matt sturniolo x reader
summary: matt accidentally says "i love you" and just pretends it never happened, leaving the reader sad and conflicted.
warning(s): angst, confession, crying? (idk help 😭)
"this is why i fell in love with you" he says and i freeze
he loves me?
i look at him, blank expression on my face
(which is definitely not how my mind is reacting)
his face turns bright red
"you-" i start but get interrupted
"i didn't mean it like that" he says and i feel my heart drop
"oh, okay.." i say, almost in a whisper
my heart just shattered into a million pieces. matt, my boyfriend, the love of my life, doesn’t mean it like that.
we continue making dinner, the awkward silence filling the room.
suddenly nick and chris come downstairs, and for some reason i'm actually thankful for it.
they start talking to us but my mind is elsewhere, maybe it's my fault. i mean, i didn't say it back fast enough which could've caused matt to second guess, or he just didn't mean it, or-
"y/n you there?" nick says and i snap out of my thoughts
"yeah! yeah im here.." i say with a dry tone and a short smile
i'm too upset to be cheerful right now.
we finish making dinner and finish eating, which is when me and matt decide to watch a movie.
throughout the film, i noticed how matt started acting like nothing happend
i hate it.
i feel like we should at least talk about it, or like.. mention it again?
maybe it wasn't that big of a deal
maybe i should let it go
or maybe, matt is being stubborn.
"matt" i say, abruptly
"yes love?" he says and i feel shivers go down my spine
do i really wanna ruin this? now?
i just am so in my head i cannot leave things like that.
"i- uh.." my words get caught in my throat and i feel like i can't get out what i wanna say
maybe it's for the better.
"i'm gonna go, home- yeah." i say
"oh, okay." he answered
i quickly grab my keys and jacket, saying bye to nick and chris, then giving matt a quick hug and immediately leaving.
fuck fuck fuck, what do i even do.
i get home and feel a sense of lonliness, emptiness fill me.
i can't help but burst into tears
i messed up
i don't know why my mind immediately went to it being my fault, i guess that's just my instinct, matt was actually the one who noticed i always assumed things were my fault, so he would always reassure me thing's weren't.
after that whole situation earlier though, things are different this time.
the thought of matt makes me cry harder.
minutes pass, then hours, and suddenly its been a day.
it's currently 10pm, the last time i heard from matt was yesterday, when i left his house actually..
i've been crying all day just watching TV
i am a mess.
suddenly i get a knock on the door
i wipe my tears, running to the bathroom to make sure my nose and eyes arent red anymore (which thankfully arent)
i look fine, i look like i've been fine.
perfect.
i run back to the door, quickly opening it, knowing i've kept whoever waiting long enough
matt.
i go speechless, like, i literally don't have the words, and even if i did, i'm not sure what i'd say.
"you're a mess" he says, breaking the silence
"i'm not a mess" i exclaim and he looks down with a laugh
"i can tell you've been crying" he adds on, confirming his 'i'm a mess' comment.
fuck, this boy knows me too well.
i open the door wider, gesturing him to come in.
"so.. why are you here.." i ask and he turns around to face me
"because i'm stubborn and you're frustrated." he replies, causing me to look at him in confusion
"i've never lied to you, until last night. i do love you y/n, i should've said it but i just- i couldn't. and then i got scared and tried to ignore it, causing me to be distant. but every second we didn't talk i was thinking about it- i was thinking about you."
all this information is too much for my slow brain to process
"so you- you meant it? you love me?" i repeat and he steps closer to me
"yes y/n, i love you" he states and i smile
he puts his hands on my waist and kisses me
we pull away, still inches away from eachother
"i love you too matt."

My Thoughts On MORPHEUS
Rewatched The Matrix yesterday. Everyone knows that Morpheus is fucking dope, but few realize he is one of the most moe characters of all time. Here is why:
Ok so at the beginning of the movie, Morpheus really appears to be this mythical figure, and that's how a lot of ppl view him. But something often overlooked is that, as the movie progresses, the more you see Morpheus acting mundanely, dressing normally, making mistakes, and getting the absolute shit beaten out of him & needing to be saved. Seriously, the gap between how he comes off when he first contacts Neo (larger-than-life, near-omnipotent) and when he gets kidnapped (totally fallible & vulnerable) is huge. You also see other characters doubt his absolute faith in Neo and it’s like wow yeah. This is really just some dude who is incredibly driven and passionate, and dedicated to his own ideals to a fault. He acts the way he does because he has a very clear image of the role he needs to play and has structured his life around it, choosing to embody this whole badass character in order to fulfill it. And from the way his appearance of perfection is shattered later in the movie in moments of monotony or when things spiral out of his control, I really believe how he acts when he meets Neo is suuuuper scripted. Like he has spent so much fucking time planning the perfect way to present himself and rehearsing exactly what he will say and do and how he will dress. And its funny to watch The Matrix knowing how totally badass & collected he is seen as in pop culture because he truly is incredibly incredibly dorky
This goes without saying but I also believe he is gay as fuck for Neo, but I need you to understand that the way he goes about it is sooo cute. I mean ok everything surrounding "You are The One and I've been searching for you for years" kind of speaks for itself. But also think about when Neo talks to the Oracle, she says this thing about like "knowing you're The One is like knowing you're in love". We can naturally really easily extend this metaphor to Trinity's explicit prophecy of her falling in love with The One, and knowing that's the case that also extends the metaphor to Morpheus knowing Neo is the one = Morpheus being in love with Neo. And I think how excited he acts around Neo, how physically affectionate he to him, arguably flirting with him during the dojo scene and shit bla bla bla sounds lame as fuck to write but I do think yeah whether literally or metaphorically that's kind of what's up. I think we can be confident that Morpheus loves Neo, and I think romantic love is a close approximation, or at the very least there are certainly real & valuable parallels to be drawn to it
But back to the previous paragraph, the specific kind of devotion towards Neo that Morpheus experiences where he is putting on all kinds of airs trying to mystify Neo, viewing himself as a supporting figure to prop up Neo as the savior -- Morpheus's underlying adoration is expressed through the language of respect, restraint, and selflessness, and a kind of self-sacrifice he is like...excited about. Feels very similar to the whole "best friend who is in love with the main character, but nobly tries to get him another love interest / somehow make his life better without any respect to his own desires". It's very sweet and well-intentioned, but totally excessive. Nobody else is asking you to go this far man this is just you. And it also comes off as a really big obfuscation of at least quasi-romantic feelings, both externally and internally, lacking a lot of self-awareness, so it makes it feel like Morpheus has this like elementary school crush he doesn't quite understand yet and it's really funny and delightful
There is definitely a certain writing style in The Matrix that is dramatic, over the top, and mythological, but compared to Morpheus, Neo and other ppl in his crew speak and act in ways much more grounded. Something I noticed a lot is just how much doubt and disillusionment all of the characters express in living life outside the Matrix, in the effectiveness of the revolution, and of Neo being The One, but Morpheus is totally an exception to this. The only person who puts on nearly as much airs, acting as dramatically and poetically as according to plan as Morpheus is Agent Smith, and like the dude isn't even a person he's a program. But even then Agent Smith expresses disappointment in his own life, and Morpheus doesn't. Seriouusly Morpheus is like the only guy in the movie who does this shit. By seeing himself as a mechanism in a prophecy to save the world and minimizing his own wants and discomforts for the greater good, he has kind of dehumanized himself in a way that's kind of sad. I think it's very easy to buy into it and take his self-perception at face value, and I think most people have, but there are a lot of moments in the movie where you can see through that. That underneath the appearance of a pure legend is a real person who means the absolute best, who is endlessly dedicated and adoring, but suffers from a one-track mind makes Morpheus a really fucking cool and unique character, and has one of the greatest impacts in making the movie's scenario feel believable. And also makes him sooooooooo cute. Anyways I forgoet what happens in the other mvoies this is only about the first one. Rewatch The Matrix 1 and open your eyes and you weill see the truth.
Also another thing I wanna mention that but its only tangentially related -- I think its very interesting how Neo is treated as a protagonist. I can't place exactly why but way the movie is written and shots are framed, he really isn't treated as an audience insert, and many moments in the movie are from other characters' perspectives (including their perspectives towards him, bereft of Neo's own expression). The movie honestly, more than identifying with Neo, expresses empathy and adoration towards him. So it kind of feels like literally everyone in the movie has a crush on him and so should you LOL. Morpheus is definitely a part of this, but I also appreciate the romance between Trinity and Neo feeling equally or more from Trinity's perspective, neither of them really being the object of desire, but if you had to choose one it'd definitely be Neo
Well let me know what you think & Dont try to troll this post because this is real shit

paris, texas (1984, dir. wim wenders) i cried through the whole last hour of this . there you go. heartwrenching performances and a story about a man who did terrible things knowing he cant do anything to really atone for it with no real happy ending .. my number one favourite thing
magnolia (1999, dir. paul thomas anderson) recency bias at work maybe because i literally saw it yesterday but you know how hard it is for movies to elicit a response from me if i watch them at home and this one made me cry badly so it gets its flowers... i just love stories with lots of characters who are somehow interconnected a little and are just random everyday people
trap (2024, dir. m night shyamalan) its fun its silly. cooper trap is so kind and wonderful to his daughter. m night is so kind. movie of the year
and umm special mentions to the war zone (1999, dir. tim roth) mysterious skin (2004, dir. gregg araki) and the piano teacher (2001, michael haneke) for making me feel sick. eurotrip (2004, dir. jeff schaffer) barb and star go to vista del mar (2021, dir. josh greenbaum) grosse pointe blank (1997, dir. george armitage) and hundreds of beavers (2022, dir. mike cheslik) for being funny and great. and monster (2023, dir. hikaru kore-eda) gods own country (2017, dir. francis lee) black dog (2024, dir. guan hu) and conclave (2024, dir. edward berger) for being good . because i cant choose just nine...
I will tag @closetdbisexual @housefreak @rogersandclarke @2201 @westerberg .. let's all play movies ! what a wonderful year for movies

FEMALE MOVIE/TV RECS (PART 3 / SCI-FI)
got inspired from a recommendation post so decided to make a list of movies and shows with female-centric stories/female protagonists. since i can't post all of the genres in one post, i'll split it into multiple posts and y'all can save or add to the list as you wish. (disclaimer: i have watched most of these, but i only know about the existence of others. not every movie/show on these lists will be my recommendation. my recommendations will be beneath the list with reasons. also some of these are way better than others in terms of storytelling/performance--which is why i'll list my faves separately):
Common Themes in the Media Listed:
-Women and girls fighting against oppressive regimes
-Unholy discoveries about the secrets of the universe
-Protagonists fighting an enemy they don't understand
-Dystopias, sickness and disaster literally everywhere
-Survivalism, action and (occasionally) comedy
-Father/daughter and older daughter/younger kid protective relationships
-How does humanity die--aliens, robots, zombies or hubris?
WHAT I HAVEN'T WATCHED:
Silo (although my sister highly recommends it)
Vesper
Invasion
Fallout
Arrival
Prometheus
Aliens
Alita: Battle Angel
The Girl With All the Gifts
The Last of Us
I Am Mother
Colossal
Rebel Moon
What Happened to Monday
Ashoka
Prey
Moonhaven
Bumblebee
The 100
Ghost in the Shell
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
Foundation (10/10) (I cannot sing its praises enough)
Annihilation (8.5/10)
The Hunger Games (10/10)
Rogue One (7/10)
PERSONAL NOTES
Colossal is actually a sci-fi comedy, but ultimately a comedy first. So it's tonally different from most of these.
While I found Mortal Engines and The 5th Wave entertaining, I can also say that they are objectively not that good. You can only enjoy Mortal Engines if you enjoy spectacle, don't mind cliches, and don't know anything about physics (or care).
I don't remember much of The Rise of Skywalker because by the time I was watching it, I had only watched Star Wars 3 out of the whole series so I was pretty lost. But I remember enjoying the fight scenes.
Please watch Foundation! Like, if you claim to love sci-fi you have to do it. Two of the three main characters are women, Gaal Dornick and Salvor Hardin. Gaal is a mathematical genius and Salvor is just . . . chef's KISS! Also, both are women of color! Like! If you wish there was some kind of grand-scale sci-fi like Dune with a female lead, Foundation is it! It's based on the books by Isaac Asimov (who was a rancid misogynist), and it is unfaithful to his work in the best ways! (Gaal and Salvor were not women in the books.) The only "issue" is it focuses more on American type-heroism rather than the sociological focus of the book (the point of the books was literally about how individualism does about fuckall in determining the future and it's easier to predict human behaviour on a large scale but much harder the smaller your data size). But it still makes for fantastic storytelling.
Alita: Battle Angel may be said to have the born-sexy-yesterday trope, but I'm not sure she's overtly sexualized in the movie. I looked at her designs and they look tasteful. Might be some stories issues.
If you haven't watched The Hunger Games, idk what to tell you except you should be doing that right now. If you claim to like movies in general. It's so good, I cannot begin to break down precisely why it's so good. Suzanne Collins is a genius!

Sneaking out.
Hobie x you
Context: you and Hobie are dating and your a Spider-Man/Women but still a bit new to the whole thing so your clumsy and a bit reckless and Hobie basically forbids you to go on fights w/o him. But your Spider-Women he can’t ground you… right?
So you’re getting your ass kicked by some villain. Of the week. Ohhh my God! Hobie literally took this guy out in 10 minutes yesterday. Why is this so difficult? You thought. Ok can we wrap this up dude? You asked while perched on a lamppost. Its like 3am you said looking down at your watch, than you realized.. 3AM!?! Oh fuck! Hobies gonna be home in like 30 minutes. Luckily you were able to web the guy to a billboard. And head home. You crawled through the window thinking you had just enough time… and boom, a light flicked on. (Shit) you froze. Well if it isn’t the friendly neighborhood “spider-women” he said sarcastically. Heyyy babe glad to see your back. Just went out for a late night swing, missed you. You said trying to play it off. Don’t even try ‘at dumb shit on me luv. Cuz it ain’t gonna work. Ok but this dude he was terrifying these poor people and- nuh uh, he said cutting you off. I don’t care what was goin on. We. Had. A. Deal. He said disappointingly. You don’t go off doing your little stunts unsupervised and you get full privilege of your suit. Which! You’re losin by the way. Bu- you interrupt, but he stops you. And you broke said deal. So there are gonna be som serious consequences. You just stood there nervously but also very curious as to what your boyfriend was going to do to you. Now come with me. He leads you into your shared bedroom and had you sit on the bed. Him still standing and you having direct eye contact with his clothed dick. You couldn’t help staring. But suddenly you felt your face being shoved into it. You wanna stare go ahead. Get a realll good look ‘ah it. He said dominantly while rubbing your face in his crotch. You tried to push him away but his strength overpowered yours, eventually he let you go and he took a deep breath. Now he said with a sigh “Get up” he said with his voice darkening. You quickly got up off the bed because you new he wasn’t playing anymore. He sat down on the bed and looked into your eyes with disappointment. You suddenly felt slightly guilty for disobeying him. “I’m sorry” was all that came out while you looked at your feet. Oh ‘yer gonna be sorry. Just wait. Your heatbeat quickened. He then pushed the button that released you from your suit (imagine it like Toms suit from the first movie) you now just standing there in your undergarments, shifted uncomfortably in the cold room. Waiting to find out what your partner was going to do to you. Suddenly you feel him tugging you down onto.. His lap?!! No no no you thought. The last time he spanked you, you couldn’t sit for a week. You struggled trying to avoid the inevitable. Stop squirmin luv. You’re only gonna make this harder. You stopped moving thinking he might go easier on you.. you were wrong. Halfway through you were bawling your eyes out begging him for a break. Please hobie! It hurts, you say while sobbing, please what? He asks clearly unbothered with your current state. Please sir. A break please. You hyperventilated, hmmm.. no. He quickly resumed with your punishment. Eventually he stopped to admire his work and bc your ass was redder than his suit. Look at this pretty ass. Good thing you slipped up I was just achin to put a brat in her place. Now. Are we gonna do that again? He asked. Noooo you responded while still sobbing. Excuse me ? No- uh no sir. You said. Good.
******************************************* you awoke early in the am on your stomach to Hobie getting a call from headquarters asking him to come on a mission. Ugh you sighed quietly. Apart of the reason you acted up was because you missed your boyfriend. Yeah sorry bruv. Got somethin come up can’t do it today. Yea, ok, peace. You smiled sleepily knowing you’d have him to yourself today. suddenly you felt someone spooning you from behind. Next time you miss me love, just tell me. Don’t go acting all bitchy on me. -the end. Babes I literally wrote this in 20 minutes so don’t judge it too hard ok? And this is the first fic going on my new account so send me any requests you want Love y’all! (And if my ask bar isn’t working I’m sorry please just message me the ask) or dm me instas in my bio!

I have way too much shit to do over the next few days starting tonight, so yesterday I decided to stay on the couch and have cramps and vegetate and watch all the lady movies I've been sleeping on.
EILEEN is pretty much what I expected, it's good but not great and a little pretentious, but the character study with Thomasin McKenzie is really cool. Or maybe I just thought that because she reminded me so much of a close friend of mine that I just decided the movie was about my friend and it was more fun that way.
THE ASSISTANT was also about what I expected, good but not great and sort of predictable--although I like how it plays like a thriller even though what's happening is sadly mundane and unsurprising. That approach works pretty well for this movie.
THE SOUVENIR is not a masterpiece but very strong, and disturbing. One critic called it a type of horror film. Years ago I was in a version of the awful relationship at the heart of this movie, and although that guy didn't have the excuse of [SPOILER REDACTED], all of his behavior and its effects on me were basically the same. It could have literally been him on the screen. My viewing experience was pretty tainted by unpleasant, shameful flashbacks and although I'm confident in saying it's a good movie, it's hard for me to imagine what it's like to watch it if you don't connect it directly to your own biography. I'll just never know what it's like as a pure work of art.
The funny thing about THE SOUVENIR is that it has this weird Rotten Tomatoes ratio were the audience score is really low, I wonder what that's about. Maybe it's just one of those things where general audiences are more resistant to being Very Bummed Out than film critics and aficionados. Or maybe it's that dumb thing where audiences find the choices of the victimized protagonist too hard to relate to because of the media they've been trained on. I often notice this in discussions about horror movies where the characters are motivated by fear, hysteria, dissociation, incomprehension, and other totally normal responses to extreme experience, and shallow unimaginative viewers go "UGH why did she do THAT, THAT'S not what I WOULD DO," and not only is it exactly what they would do in an incomprehensible situation, but their basis of comparison is not even "rational behavior"; their basis of comparison is the behavior you see in THE BOURNE IDENTITY or something where the hero does everything perfectly all the time and because certain viewers are strongly pursuaded by inhuman perfection, they think that's the standard everyone should be meeting, that's what they think is "realistic". It's stupid and ignorant and egotistical, and it's actually part of my secret criteria for who I can and cannot be friends with.
But anyway that's kind of what THE SOUVENIR PART II is about, which has high ratings for both critics and audience. It is a better movie, to some degree, but it was extra fascinating to me because as the protagonist uses her senior film school project to do a post mortem on her awful relationship, she is confronted with the fact that nobody quite gets what the story is about because none of her cast or crew have been in her shoes and they find the whole thing unconvincing. They don't get why the heroine subjects herself to abuse, or how to humanize the guy who seems like a total monster. You know, why is she so weak, he's "obviously" bad, what is the logic of this situation? All this black and white, judgmental thinking from people who are lucky enough not to have had to live through such a thing. The truth is that the abusive relationships are sort of absurdist in nature, they don't play by the normal rules, even the laws of time and space bend around this black hole you're being sucked into, which the heroine finds out as she's trying to put scenes in order. Strong stuff.
THE SOUVENIR PART II reminded me of this great rant Joe Bob Briggs has about "strong female protagonists" that basically amounts to the idea that characters should be whoever they need to be to serve the story. They're not exemplars of some ideal state of existence for us all to emulate--I mean unless they are, but that's under fairly specific conditions. His example is always Laurie Strode, who is typically upheld as a Strong Female Protagonist even though she doesn't become that thing until years down the road; in the meantime, she is a completely normal person with anxieties and phobias and insecurities and perfectly rational responses to Michael Myers. And that's what makes her so relatable, not her perfection, but her humanity.
[EDIT: Pardon me if the tone of this is a little alien to this blog. I don't even know if it definitely is, or if anyone cares, but I couldn't figure out where to put this post because I don't post much autobiographical material here anymore and I try to make the content of this blog reasonably appropriate for colleagues to see in both tone and content (like this feels both too intimate and too casual to me). But, I also try to keep all my movie information over here, so this is what I picked. I'm sure this doesn't bother anyone but me, but I have to justify my own rule-breaking to myself in order to feel better, so there.]

HIIIII I was the angel oc anon :3!!! I don't know how exactly cannon complaint he is, but I do NOT care I love him too much <3 (Hes also my pfp >:D [I'm on season 10 of spn so I still have a bit to go but I still love him 😭]) I made him when I started watching season 4 or 5 I think? His name is Nerian and he's a Seraphim (he doesn't have a birthday, but I made him on February 26th so I call that his birthday [it's just the first say he was on Earth]) BUT I was looking at the Seraphim wiki and it was like "they don't really have set jobs...." so I made him a guardian angel. Now that's a VERY loose term because his whole job was to watch over Sam and make sure he was on the track for the apocalypse and to keep Heaven updated on it. Nerian absolutely HATED it because Sam went through soooo much shit he wanted to go down and help him soooo bad but he was just a little scared guy. I mean eventually he DID make it down there but it was probably after all of the Castiel rebellion stuff calmed down so he could sneak out (or during the fall, I'm not suuure). He absolutely LOVES Sam. I mean how do you watch someone's whole life and not be a bit like "wow :)". Like he's so smitten it's insane.(he doesn't really realize he it's romantic until Sam's like "why r u so weird around me, do you hate me?" And Nerian's like "Noooo!" And explains it lol) The first time he meets Sam he's like "This is real this is happening I'm like your biggest fan!!!" Dean's definitely like "Why does Sam always getting the stalkers" and Nerian feels SO bad because he definitely didn't think it came off that way but it probably does for both Sam and Dean. I decided to make his voice claim Mr. Peabody (specifically from the 2014 movie) jokingly but I never changed it so he does just sound like that now 😭 I have SO much about him I've been thinking about him since I made him and I drew him like 5 times yesterday but I don't wanna overwhelm you too much so uhhh that's basically him (I have a playist a pinterest board everything I'm OBSESSED with him) If you wanna know more I'd be glad to share (starts shaking VIOLENTLY)
HI OMG IM INSTANTLY OBSESSED !!!!!!
february birthday woop woop !!!
the guardian angel trope is so akdkwdked but with sam especially? omfg i love it sm
the little “wow :)” YES ITS LITERALLY SAM THATS MY REACTION!!
i love this sm will forever be obsessed pls pls tell me anything you want about this i will eat it up omg <3333

for the ask game, 7, 12, 17! 💗🌼
thank you for the ask :)) and sorry its late i was gonna answer this at the bus stop yesterday but for once they decided to be on time
7. top 5 bl
man i had to stare at my mdl completed list for a while to decide this, but i'll preface that these top 5 are here both bc i have such a strong emotional connection with them and bc i want to scream about how actually good they are from a rooftop (also not ranked bc thats too hard):
utsukushii kare - don't know else i can make it clear how beloved and special this show is to me. an excellent story across both seasons and the movie with even better mains that are characterised to perfection, develop in the most beautifully human way and are performed brilliantly. and if i think about this show any longer and remember its over i will break so moving on
old fashioned cupcake - it was one thing to give me a bl starring THE og kageyama stage play actor bc those things were my life during the height of my anime phase, but to then have it be this good?? the story is beautiful, the fact they manage to do so much with such little run time amazes me, and to this day it has the most romantic line in any bl that always gives me goosebumps when i watch it. and i dont wanna talk like im that old, im only 25, but as someone who's barely had anything you can call a romantic experience, this show left me with the warmest sense of hope and comfort that beautiful love stories aren't reserved for high schools, and its never too late to find happiness
blueming - i havent rewatched this one in a while, or much at all, but i'll never forget the visceral response i had when i binged it all in one night. i adore the fact that this is just the gentlest story of 2 people falling in love and finding comfort in each other and just how naturally and simply it happens, and i think its portrayal of that specific family dynamic is phenomenal, bc for me at least its as much about that family being in the process of healing as it is about the love story, and the fact they go hand in hand is even better
bad buddy - what else is there to say. for the 12 weeks it aired, i ate, slept and breathed this show. literally did not even think about anything else. and this show has rightly been praised to the moon and back but as well as all that, its always gonna be special for me bc of the people and community i found and shared the watching experience with. what can i say, you just had to have been there, and im so glad i was
the eighth sense - surprisingly this was my last pick and i was debating swapping it for a few others, but it ultimately stays bc of how refreshing and how much of an emotional rollercoaster it was. i haven't ever brought myself to rewatch it, but i can vividly remember how enraptured i was by the sheer amount of tension they managed to create in those initial episodes, and how well they managed to maintain it. and i hope people take note of how much people loved its artful and kinda raw vibe and become inspired to do something similar bc i think it gives great balance to the genre (and i also, clearly, love it, just look at these pics. i promise i do love fun and silly stuff too)
12. most rewatched bl
i was debating putting this on my list but ultimately, while not being my absolute favourite, its my definition of a comfort show and that is my dating sim. idk what it is about the show, but ever since it came out i go back to it at the very least monthly. i think its the fact that when im really craving a good bl, it manages to not only hit all my favourite tropes (unrequited but secretly requited love, reuniting and digging up the past, that initial clash gives me a lil bit of enemies to lovers, plus it has enough fluff to make me all warm and giddy), but it also does them so well, and the story is so perfectly simple and succinct that i feel so content when the whole thing is over. truly the perfect show for when i wanna do nothing and feel happy.
17. best kiss
unsurprising but yes, it still is the bad buddy rooftop kiss. i dare not watch this kiss bc i know if the weakness ever overtakes me i will fall into a void that i will not escape for at least a week. and honestly, while there has been some good competition, idk if she'll ever be beaten, and idk if thats bias talking or just the objective truth, but i encourage all bl's to keep giving it their bests shot
❤️🧡💛bl ask game💚💙💜
#thank you again for the ask lovely#i always love an excuse to talk about my favourite things who doesnt#ask game

movies i watched yesterday
yesterday i finally watched insidious the red door. im not sure what i expected but i was disappointed. i wasnt very engaged with the movie the way i am with others but from what i did see, i just wasn't impressed. when i was younger i always thought that insidious was 1 of the scariest horror movie franchises ever so i never watched any of them. anyways starting off. the part where the dad was in the mri machine and saw the thing crawling towards him was so stupid. like umm ok. and then the part when the main guy, i dont even remember his name was at the party and saw the guy throwing up everywhere. i mean ok that's kinda creepy i guess especially when he was telling him to close the door but other than that i was just bored. the part that made me the most irritated was the part when the song by tiny tim was playing. i was hoping that that would be left in the first movie. imo tiny tims songs are actually really good. I dont find his voice or songs to be creepy the way i used too when i first heard them. my whole problem with this movie is that they tried too hard to make it scary. like ok jumpscares and creepy music and songs by tiny tim. but at what point do ppl not get bored with that. like all horror movies after 2010 are basically the same. they're all so boring and repetitive and try too hard to be scary that they just end up not being scary at all. jumpscares only go so far. without jumpscares, the red door wouldn't have been memorable or 'scary' at all imo bc the plot itself really wasnt that scary, memorable or intresting. and another thing. i feel like movies that focus on just 1 monster/entity tend to be more interesting bc in this movie, there were like 3/4 different monsters. the main one i guess, the thing in the mri machine and then the demon tht kept throwing up. like atp who or what am i even supposed to be afraid of. it was just all over the place. 3/10 rating from me i hated it
the babadook: ok this movie did creep me out a bit. what scared me is the lighting and the setting of the house and everything like that. the depressing nature of the house especially since the dad had died was done really well. the book itself was weird and i thought the design of the babadook was pretty creepy and creative. he looked creepy especially when he was on the tv. i also got scared when the mom started changing and the way she killed the dog was like. ew. no. and also the way the babadooks voice sounded whenever it said its name was freaky so yeah. other than that i was neutral about it. what i will say though is that i hate parents in horror movies 🤦♀️ like the little boy literally pushed the girl down and would talk nonstop about how he had to kill the babadook and like first off if that was my child i would question why they were even thinking about killing things 24/7, and why he was constantly talking about some character in that way. and the mom the whole time was just like '😄' like girl no. i hate the trope of adults being passive abt weird things their kids do just bc 'they're kids.' Like when has that ever played out well

i watched When Evil Lurks (2023) yesterday and I have thoughts! also this is literally just my letterboxd review copy and pasted with a bit more detail lol
spoilers!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
first of all, I am not the biggest possession horror fan. It's not my thing. But wow I was actually so into this movie I completely forgot about it being a possession movie! It was sort of a mix between zombie/disease and possession which was interesting. The very first Rotten we see is hard to look at, not normally a sight you think of when someone is possessed. Usually these movies tend to be more bone-cracking, spine breaking, unnatural bending and scary voices. Seeing the "demon"/evil manifest physically with bodily fluids and boils and rotting flesh made my stomach turn a bit which was awesome!
Secondly, I admit I'm very partial to sibling dynamics in movies, I love my siblings and I would die for them. The only people I would want to be in this apocalyptic-end-of-days situation with would be my siblings and my mom. I think the film did a great job bringing to life that tie between family, that you would do anything to protect them even if it means leaving your entire life behind including people who may be close but not willing to believe you (the ex wife and new husband). Also I couldn't help but compare them a bit to mario and luigi in my head but I blame that on me watching the Mario movie right before this 😅.
Jaime (Jimi) and Pedro are fun contrasting personalities in the scenario they get put into. Their priorities are different and even the belief they have is split, while pedro is more sure about the Rotten, Jaime is so doubtful he can't even admit if what they saw was real and that leads to problems with everyone else believing them. He's seen as the "good" brother so of course if he's saying he isn't sure of what they see, then all the other characters would believe him over Pedro, the "bad" brother with a troubled past. One of the things I loved about it was that Jaime never waivers in his faith in Pedro, he may not be sure of the Rotten/evil but he always trusts fully in his brother.
Pedro does get on my nerves with some of his choices but cmon would it be a horror movie if you weren't mad at some character for making stupid decisions? The desperation that seeps from the actor (Ezequiel Rodriguez) is so palpable that it brings out sympathy for him, he may be dumb but he's trying his best okay?
The whole story with the autistic son was a little weird and I know everyone's reviews of this say it's ableist but I saw it in a different light. The Cleaner says the demon can't figure out the minds of autistic people, get stuck in their bodies and that helps them from fully becoming possessed. To Me it feels like the opposite of what movies would usually do in where the son would be autistic BECAUSE of the demon, whereas in this movie he is "normal" when the demon takes over. It isn't a cure, it isn't saying autistic people have evil in them that needs to be fixed, but that is something that people have said for a long time and tbh its probably still a thing idiots believe in. it's interesting to see that his autism actually kept him safe for as long as it did.
Let's talk about the kills! When the wife of the landowner whacks into him with the axe, I was caught so off guard, same with the dog attack on the little girl. oh god, the throwing up of the hair and necklace by the son got to me, I probably shouldn't have been eating while watching this. This may sound weird but I LOVED the scene of the mom eating her son's brains as she's walking alongside the car Jimi is in.
The movie was so bleak and nihilistic that I felt the need to repent so this doesn't happen in real life. I wish it could have expanded a bit more on the universe, some of the characters and the disease/possession but for pacing reasons I think they did a solid job of dropping enough hints to fill in information. I love foreign horror movies and Argentina you are on my watchlist now, i enjoyed this and I think its definitely worth a watch!
Be warned there are animal and child deaths in this movie so know your triggers. It has English subtitles that aren't 100% accurate so it can get a little confusing sometimes, just pay close attention and if you want more insight the reddit threads on this movie are so great.
#sorry for this long ass post#i just really enjoyed this movie!!#when evil lurks#horror#yami's movie thoughts

Hi! I love your videos and art! and can I ask a little question - how do you feel about other tmnt movies and TV series? (1987, 90s, 2003, 2007, etc.) what is your opinion on this? (I think you've seen and watched some of this). thank you in advance for the answer. keep up the good work! ^^
I'm so sorry this took longer to answer! I completely forgot it yesterday.😂
I kinda expected this question to arrive SOMEDAY, to be honest, since I mainly talk about 2012, but I don't mind it of course!
1987:
I only ever watched a few episodes and bits of it, so I cannot form a good answer, but I do think the show is actually funny, or at least entertaining. My friend even calls it a haven for incorrect quotes and I agree on that. xD I swear I will continue it one day to have better judgement!
The 90's movies:
Never watched them, honestly. I do want to watch the first one at one point, but I'm still holding out on doing it. xD
2003:
TURTLES COUNT IT OFF! I swear, my friends and I sing the opening of that show more than we've actually watched the show.💀
I started watching the first season and made it a few episodes in. Even watched it in German and it was honestly already great. Fell in love with these idiots immediately, especially Donnie and Raph who became my favorites in an instant. Still cannot believe they let Raph say "shit" in the german dub. xD
2007 movie:
*angelic music resounds*
God, I love that movie SO MUCH. It's just such an enjoyable watch late at night (as is Tmnt in general, actually) and I remember it from back during my childhood. That movie was actually on TV a few times, during my time as a Tmnt fan back during 2013-2016, and I loved to watch it.
Returning to the fandom and finding the movie on Netflix actually brought back all my nostalgia I had for this movie, and thus watched it again one night. And I will not forgive Netflix for just taking it down.
2012:
I mean......Do I need to explain? As if it isn't obvious enough, ahshsjsjs. It was my introduction to Tmnt, to anyone who didn't know!
2014/2016 movies:
I do not care what anyone says: These movies ROCK. Sure, the turtles look quite terrifying, but I never experienced a dull moment watching these movies. I genuinely enjoy watching them so much.
Back in 2014 I wanted to watch the movie in the cinema so badly, but I was only 11 and thus couldn’t watch a Rated 12 movie alone (since my mom dislikes the turtles HEAVILY xD), so I could only watch it once it was on TV for the first time (I wasn't allowed the DVD for whatever reason), which did take about two years, shshsjsj.
BUT two years later, when "Out of the Shadows" came out, I was 13 and READY. It was my first Tmnt movie on the big screen and I had such a pleasant time watching it.
These two movies hold a special place in my heart, because they were part of my childhood and my introduction to other Tmnt-versions. Donnie and Raph are my favorites here, they are just so- *screams*
2018/Rise show:
I guess this also counts? xD
I do like the show. It's a different approach on the turtles and their world as a whole, and I enjoy it a lot whenever I watch it. Leo and Mikey are my go-to turtles here for a change and especially Leo has made his way into my heart, shshsj.
Rise movie:
Not gonna lie, this movie was actually the first tmnt-media I had consumed in literal years. I randomly found it on Netflix one day, about a week after its release. Looking at it I went:"Oh my god, the ninja turtles? I haven't seen these guys in ages, how are they holding up?"
I was SO confused by Raph and Leo having some sort of role (and kinda personality) change and wondered, if I remembered Raph being the "fight-first-ask-questions-later" impulsive dude and Leo as the responsible leader correctly, because it was not exactly that way in the movie. Turns out, I was, as I realized upon rewatching 2012 in September.
All in all I did enjoy the movie and its more darker theme! It reminded me of the 2012 show and honestly, it was a ride 'til the end. xD
2023/ Mutant Mayhem (no spoilers, don't worry):
*screams*
Not gonna lie, this version is definitely my second favorite one now. I already enjoyed these guys from the trailers alone, but after watching the entire movie my heart did loopings with adoring feelings.
These guys are easily one of my personal fave turtles. Silly, funny, cringe, teens, everything I need. They kinda gave me 12!turtles vibes again at some certain points in the movie, and even if it's pretty unrelated, they also remind me of my "AU kids". I love the turtles acting the way actual teens would. Seeing them do things that, upon looking back at it in the future, makes one cringe, is exactly how I feel looking back at my teenage-years.
I love these dorks so much and I hope the spin-off show and future sequel are gonna be just as good. :>
I hope I didn't forget anything. But if I did, rest assured I never watched it, qhsgshsjsj.💀

Thanks for always answering bby! Im glad youre doing alright! Ive been feeling quite down the past days, yesterday my day reproached me because I was "overreacting" when I saw my cat being chased by dogs (I said a strong hey to get their attention away from my cat from the window where I saw everything) and he kept on saying bullshit like why you scream so loud with an annoyed tone of voice and I felt so bad, he always get these anger explosions and tantrums and no one can tell him anything or he will get more mad and im like, dude, mine was a REACTION. You cant control that at all. What was best, to leave the dogs catch my cat and it ends in a worse situation? Man you wanted that? Like for real I felt so pissed and frustrated. I even told him that when he gets mad no one can tell him to calm down or stop overreacting. My sister, mom and I always try to be more calm and colected and try to see things in a good reasonable light, but with him truly you cant communicate at all. And whats worse is that I end up being the crazy one! So now ive been trying to ignore him and interact the less its better for me.
And on the other side, so ive felt kinda down because Taylor will come to latinoamerica but isnt going to visit my country and I saw one of my closest friends will go to Brazil to her concert and I'm stuck here in my home due to my illness, I cant even make my own money to pay me the things I want, my closest friends are busy and we havent talked a lot the past weeks, maybe I will go back to University next semester if Im on better health terms and I really dont want to see some people ive considered to being transfered to another University... I feel like everything and nothing is going on with me at all and thats makes me go all ugh :( literally my only joy during all this time has been watching series, movies, reading and listening to music. Healing is so tiring and lonely at the same time, I dont mind it generally, but sometimes its strenuous.
I wish I could get a ticket and fly anywhere and start from zero with a whole new everything. Thank you for listening and being here for us, it means a lot💐🩷🩷
(So sorry for the long emotional dump, you can delete it if its bothersome)
Of course my love!! I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner <3
To me, it does NOT sound like you overreacted. Dogs are (typically) bigger and stronger than cats. Even a big dog playing with a small cat could be unsafe. You did the right thing, even if the cat wasn't in danger! And like you said, it was one of those immediate reactions anyway, because of course it was! Lulu sometimes just looks at the edge of the balcony in a certain way and I'll put her back inside. Or the other day, she started to walk a bit too close to my burner plate while I was making a candle and I DID yell at her, because I got scared! We don't ever want to see our pets get hurt, so it's natural to have automatic reactions like that. Ignoring your dad, or minimizing contact with him, is probably the best option here, unfortunately. I'm sorry he tends to act a bit more irrationally, and tries to flip stuff around onto you. That sounds very frustrating to deal with.
I'm sorry you can't see Taylor!! That's a shame :(( It sounds like you're feeling pretty lonely, which is an awful way to feel. It's good you have hobbies, but I totally understand why they don't always quite feel like enough. I hope you start to feel a bit better, and find some people to connect with! I hope your close friends can find some time for you as well <33
And your emotions are never ever bothersome!! Lots and lots of love for you my friend <333

Oshi No Ko #1 - Mother and Childern
Screenplay: Jin Tanaka Storyboard: Daisuke Hiramaki, Saori Tachibana, Asami Nakatani Episode Director: Daisuke Hiramaki, Saori Tachibana, Asami Nakatani, Ryota Ito, Chengmin Jin Chief Animation Director: Kanna Hirayama Animation Director: Kanna Hirayama, Shun Sawai, Masaaki Yamano, Takeshi Osame, Maho Yoshikawa, Shuuta Sato, Manato Onishi, Tomoko Uno, Tomoya Atsumi, Asami Hayakawa, TOMATO, Miki Matsumoto, Honoka Yokoyama, Honoka Hada
To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect from the show. I am not a big fan of idol culture in general, and I typically find it quite toxic based on what I've seen. Also, I had no knowledge of the plot of this series at all aside from that aspect. Plus, completely unrelated to my thoughts on idols, the sheer size of the first episode was quite intimidating for me. It's not extremely hard to find time for a 20-minute episode and write about it, yet I've already missed many episodes this season. Will I have time to watch a show like this and still have time to write about it? With all those thoughts floating around in my head, I decided to watch it.
And what are my thoughts? I actually loved it. It's definitely floating near the top of the season for me and I can say that as the first episode was equivalent to 4 episodes of most other shows.
Somehow, I managed to steer clear of most of the trailers, so this is my real first time seeing the character designs of Hirayama Kanna. Honestly, they are very pretty. I'm not familiar with the manga, but the faces of the characters are extremely expressive, and the eyes are gorgeous and very unique. There are literal stars in some of the character's eyes that on paper feel ridiculous but it's extremely charming. The idols they want you to fawn over, like Ai, look irresistible in terms of design.
The story itself is very hard to describe without just spoiling it in its entirety, but I think the story functions well due to the self-awareness of the toxicity that lies within the idol industry. Unlike shows like Heroines Run the Show, they don't try to convince us to like this industry or applaud the toxicity within idol culture.
There are a lot of lies, there are toxic fans, and people you like as idols might be forced to upkeep appearances, or they might not be telling their fans anything. How should fans react to lies? The show doesn't seem to tell us how; it simply shows how people might react to it. And I do appreciate that respect for the viewer's own mindset on idol culture.
The show is about two idol fans who are reincarnated as babies to the idol they adored. As babies, they are named Ruby and Aquamarine.
Is it weird? It's a bit weird, but this whole plot point was definitely the reason the show was 90 minutes for its first episode. It's a lot of things to set up, including introducing idol culture to those unfamiliar, introducing our characters in their past lives and their lives as babies, Ai's idol path, and Ruby and Aqua's own path. And I found it all very entertaining and became more engaged in the story as I watched. The hype for this show is very large, and at first, I wasn't completely buying it as it wasn't even really available to watch till yesterday. Yet, it already had a rating on MAL from the theatrical release in Japan, but I'm sold. So far this season, my top shows have been "Heavenly Delusion," "The Ancient Magus' Bride," "Skip and Loafers" and this is right up there with them. The one hour and thirty minutes never felt too long, and believe me, I watched this at a very inconvenient time for me. Right till the end the comedy hit me, the wholesome scenes hit me, and the emotional ones hit me. I had a great time.
We don't know who directed what part, as this is a movie-length production and there are multiple episode directors listed here, but the direction/storyboard took a noticeable improvement and I really enjoyed it. I'll leave off with some images from the 2nd half of the episode. There were some shots I wanted to include, but those ones are spoilers even at a glance.
