#I Kill People Now. (musings)
Hello Guild Wars 2 community! A new poll has dropped! 🐦⬛
(At least, hopefully new, lol.) I'm curious, which blessing did your Commander get on their first/canon go through the Raven Sanctum in the story mission "The Invitation?" Choose and tell me in the tags why they made their specific decisions :)
Compiled explanations from the wiki below for ease of access:
The trial choices in order:
Save the wounded man or save the healers
Save the spell tome or save the historical record
Save the queen or save the prince
Blessings:
Blessing of Daybreak
"When the fear of beastly claws and a child's pain is made sharp by the knowledge of elders, we make no mistakes. But do we grow?"
Healers -> historical record -> prince
Grace of Dawn
"When wisdom is favored in all things—a healing hand, a text of old, a beloved queen—we lose the sharpened sword of the truly bold."
Healers -> historical record -> queen
Consecration of Morning
"We seek to destroy monsters with sharp claws and icy breath, but do we protect ourselves from the beasts shaped like us, who prey on the young and vulnerable, who seek to rule us?"
Healers -> spell tome -> prince
Invocation of Midday
"When we flee from the things we fear most - the teeth of beasts, the storm of a dragon, a change of power-we risk running backward."
Healers -> spell tome -> queen
Supplication of Midday
"We favor the skill of healers and the wisdom of elders over the uncertainty of the future. But the young take chances, and the young push us forward."
Wounded man -> spell tome -> prince
Consecration of Evening
"We long for the comfort of a healing touch, an ancestral word of wisdom, a leader we know and trust. But comfort is fleeting, and with it comes inertia."
Wounded man -> historical record -> queen
Grace of Dusk
"We sacrifice so much—safety from the claws of death, knowledge of the ages, a steadfast reign—to propel ourselves forward. But if we move too fast, do we risk the inability to stop?"
Wounded man -> spell tome -> prince
Blessing of Twilight
"We try so hard to do the right thing. We heal, we protect our people, we preserve stability. But we cannot control how the winds of fate may shift, and a tight grip can sometimes hurt more than it helps."
Wounded man -> spell tome -> queen

batman #428 / batman: legends of the dark knight #100
It's over. It's begun. The end of the training and the worry that he wouldn't pass the tests and make the grade, the beginning of a life with meaning. Jason smiles. A bright smile. The kind of smile Robin, The Boy Wonder should have. And he is Robin after all. For now and ever more.
‘Part of me recalls him putting on his costume that first time... the look on his face... his smile... as if it were yesterday. That first time, I must keep it alive... the memory of it. Alive in my heart so that the memory of this... here now... doesn't destroy me. We're together at least. One last time together... as it should be.’

burgeon employing 'natural insect hunters' which essentially means animals like bluebirds, as well as owls + frogs to control the amount of pests in his garden (which is honestly a HUGE place and has a spiral staircase + this is where you will find it most of the time) because he refuses to use pesticides is honestly... kind of iconic of him when you don't think about all of the atrocities it has committed JSJSJ i mean, because there have been studies done to show that they negatively affect other thing's besides insects themselves, such as the soil of the plants you are putting it on itself and non-target plants along with other creatures.
so you better bet that blamore has some thing's inside his garden that attracts these animals and he treats them kindly. and now that i've mentioned it, i suppose his appreciation for nature is one of the better qualities that blamore possesses — though i think it's bitterness towards humanity in general has still very much left him feeling lonely, and just having the occasional animal as company is not sustainable for it. which i think is part of why blamore has forged a bond with nico morselli because he is one of the few people who he can trust will not cringe at the sight of it / think less of it because he is vastly different from the person he used to be.

What's the deal with Leif in the Venom AU? Is he a modern bug or did he get time travelled some other way?
(also what color is he)
He's a modern bug! He was raised by his grandparents which is why he talks like he's a hundred million years old.
He's married to muse and is a researcher! He studies languages and knows quite a few! He actually knows quite a bit of roach, while not fluent, he is the foremost expert in bugaria.
When Kabbu and Vi go to snakemouth den, instead of getting trapped, they get chased out by the spider. Kabbu knows Leif, and that he's interested in roach stuff and mentioned what they discovered.
Leif of course, like any sane person with a special interest, immediately demands that he come on their next incredibly dangerous excursion.
Which of course, is how he gets venomed lol.
And yeah, he's red btw. If i made him blue then I'd have to make all of team snakemouth blue.

I do find the, well maybe not historical revisionism, but perhaps profoundly misremembering and or just changes in tastes that has gone down when it comes to Zevran and dragon age: origins to be quite interesting, like now that he’s very openly being compared to the newest hotness of Astarion, people talk about him as if he is/was the most popular because people love broody elves (even though Zev is the farthest from broody in his demeanor, and which kinda go hand in hand with people comparing him to Fenris, which isn’t new mind mind you, but it was fucking rare I saw anyone make that comparison 9 years ago) but I was there mind you, I was there 8-9 years ago. I remember clearly Zevran being the least popular romance option in origins when it came to the fandom.

which symbolic fruit are you?
⸻ peach
in many cultures , peaches symbolize the vagina. while apples and pomegranates symbolize female liberation in many feminist readings , peaches have come to bear ( arbitrary ) connotations of sexuality and ( traditionally ) female arousal , due to their soft tissues , fuzzy skin , and sweet juices. in many art pieces , they are used to symbolize such motifs and are markers of sweet temptation and femininity. like the peach , you radiate softness , and the color pink. you walk with a graceful air and enjoy the simple things in life. you are a romantic through and through , but are also someone who is somewhat of a free spirit : tied to nothing and no one. you believe in free love , free thought , and doing what makes you happy. like the peach , whose juices run without inhibition when you bite into it , you are not in the business of making yourself palatable for anyone. you are who you are , without excuses.

anyhow, i have now come up with a happy end(ing) for misao even though... well, it may be debatable as to whether she deserves it BUT like wonder woman once said — it's not about what you deserve. and of course i'm not trying to say that misao could make up for all of the bad thing's she's done throughout the years because honestly,, she has a LOT of blood on her hands, but good redemption arcs for characters aren't made to erase all of the bad thing's they've done in the past, in my opinion. they're made to accept what they've done and how, although they CAN'T make up for it, they can start working towards a better future and won't make the same mistakes again regardless of what kind of protests they might face from people who think they might be faking it or that they don't deserve it.
but anywhozies, misao's happy ending is becoming a grief therapist because helping other people work through their grief would also help HER work through her own, i feel like... and somewhere where people really need it so maybe in the east end or something?¿ and she'd also offer some pro-bono therapy sessions for the rogues because, like i said, she's not trying to erase all of the bad things she's done because that's virtually impossible. but misao would be trying to make amends with people and that includes the people whom she counseled / had therapy sessions with in arkham. and they don't have to forgive her, OFC, at any point. but i just feel like that'd be something she'd put out there for them and what makes this ending even more truly happy is this.
misao reuniting with ryuuji, her half-brother, and since he works as a medical examiner (yeah, he eats off of the dead bodies, y'all JSJSJ) ... he could transfer to gotham + be a part of the PD and sneakily take back parts of people as gross as that might sound for misao to eat. but i mean, at least she wouldn't be killing people anymore and it's an arrangement that would work for them to be able to eat, in retrospect. so yeah

ahh... just thinking about how one of the first things that bunny mask did whenever she was liberated from her cave was search for her quote unquote ' creator, ' as she would put it. and whenever bunny found no one to speak of that fulfilled that role for her, the emptiness that she felt inside was immeasurable, for lack of better words. because although she is able to make friends with people quite quickly depending on the other person and i could very much imagine her becoming a parental figure to a child; it just makes her feel a little bit like maybe she wasn't worthy of being given one and like she's got a void inside of her heart that she just can't fill. because in bunny mask's mind, whenever you aren't able to fall back on friends for whatever the reason may be, that is where your parent/s step in and the fact that she doesn't seem to have any... means that she's got to hold onto them twice as hard. because if they leave her, then bunny mask thinks that she'll be without any sort of support system, including even tyler because he was her friend first before they were on-and-off again lovers.
and the last thing that bunny mask wants to be is alone. though she is exactly the type of being to put on a brave face in front of people, no matter what she may be going through, bunny mask honestly was so starved for interaction after all of those centuries that she spent in the cave below the fosters home that these bonds that she's made with people since then — they mean a hell of a lot to her and she sort of subconsciously is exceedingly loyal to them out of fear that they may decide one day that they don't like her anymore, as there isn't something that she can give them that they can't find somewhere else; if that makes any sense. i guess basically what i'm trying to say is that, under the surface, bunny mask is somewhat insecure in her relationships and if she doesn't offer them something valuable like loyalty then she thinks they might not want to stick around with her. so, in a way, bunny mask is always thinking of ways that she can make her friends life better not only because she wants to but to ensure that they are getting something in return for their investment in her as a friend.
which, i realize is a kind of sad way to have to view friendship, but bunny mask had already been a loyal being before this mindset had taken effect in her mind, i guess you could say. i mean bunny will literally defend those who she loves with such a fervor that if one of her friends had done something bad that her first impulse would be to deny that they had and then, if/when it had been confirmed, she would literally just deflate like a balloon because bunny mask may or may not have a tendency to sometimes put those she likes on a pedestal; so whenever the illusion of them being able to 'do no wrong' in her eyes is finally broken... bunny wouldn't even be mad at them for a little while. depending on the severity of what they'd done, she'd either just become disappointed in them, or completely disheartened by it and would still not want to believe it to a certain degree. but bunny mask certainly wouldn't do this forever as she is aware that other beings can be morally dubious and/or capable of doing evil things, of course. it's just that, even when she platonically loves someone, she loves them with all of her heart often times and so it seems to effect her heavily if it is particularly criminal or wrong.
and don't get me wrong, bunny mask would still go after someone even if they were a friend of hers once upon a time if they had committed a crime / some kind of heinous act because that is what she is convinced her purpose is on this earth. bunny will just be simultaneously heartbroken at them AND then become angry later that they had done such a thing. whichhh could be quite bad news for the now ex-friend or whoever they might've been to her NGL because an angry bunny mask is bad enough BUT a heartbroken and angry bunny mask? you better start running, because she would be liable to turn you into a shish-kabob or something JSJSJ 💀 nahhh, i'm only halfway being serious here LOL but honestly, if there is any way that you can avoid attracting bunny's ire, then i would totally suggest it because uhhh. breaking her heart does tend to make her more aggressive when she's 'hunting' someone

i keep thinking about a line from jaheira i got on my durge (darci) run, and now i know more about bg1/2 and what happened to char/name, it kind of just is sticking more with me and i just need to scream
"This is your father's true legacy. Not his children - but the fear they plant in us. The savagery it blossoms into."
in bg1 siege of dragonspear, everyone finds out that charname (ryn, in my context) is a bhaalspawn. immediately the attitude towards her shifts from "this is our HERO" to "this person is a danger and i dont really want her around"
then later, after ryn saves everyones asses again (and i mean everyone!) and she's hailed as a hero again.... for five seconds. that same night she gets framed for murder. and she insists she didn't do it. but-
she gets arrested, put on trial which is a fucking sham that ignores a vital piece of evidence (the girl she's accused of killing was killed with a very specific dagger, one she did not have on her when found next to the body) but it's a public trial, and the citizens of baldurs gate are watching.
she's locked away until they can decide her fate - which is most certainly going to be execution (the person who she was framed for murdering was a child of a grand duke) and one of her companions, an officer for the flaming fist even tells her that she should confess and face the consequences, even if she didn't do it.
but she manages to escape, fleeing the city through the sewers. but of course corwin and bence manage to track her down
and even when she surrenders (she does not want to hurt them!!) bence tries to kill her anyway! not even waiting for the sentence to be passed! corwin comes to her senses and lets ryn escape, and she does. reuniting with with her friends who were waiting for her escape- but
even her friends, her most trusted friends, don't think she's innocent.
"This is your father's true legacy. Not his children - but the fear they plant in us. The savagery it blossoms into."
she's the bhaalspawn, but as soon as the people discovered that... they were calling for her death. she is the child of the lord of murder, but they were the ones wanting to murder her. they were afraid, and their fear blossomed into savagery.
and i just... keep thinking about it

☾ * ―― 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓 .
true neutral .
―― True Neutral people believe in the ultimate balance of forces, and they refuse to see actions as either good or evil. True Neutral individuals do their best to avoid siding too strongly with any one force, whether that force is good or evil, lawful or chaotic. For this reason, True Neutral personalities sometimes find themselves drawn into rather peculiar alliances, friendships, and life paths. To a great extent, they side with the underdog, sometimes even changing sides as the previous loser becomes the winner. Such people often see good, evil, chaos, and laws as simply prejudices that lead to dangerous extremes. Like the Taoist masters of ancient China, they tend to believe that the universe functions best when the light and the dark, the yin and the yang, are in balance.

feeling torn re: my bruce portrayal cause on one hand there is the batman that i love as an active critique of brutality and vigilantism thin blue line rhetoric repackaged in a bat costume and a man who learned better kind of narrative over time but then on the other hand there is batman unburied bruce who would not fucking say any of that <3
