RIDING BACK TO YOU - Benny Cross
SYNOPSIS — After a painful breakup with Benny Cross, a member of the Vandals Motorcycle Club, you moved away to the city, only to discover that you were pregnant. Life in the city became overwhelming, and four years later, you and your daughter, Ruth, return to the small town you grew up in. A chance encounter with Johnny, one of Benny’s closest friends, reveals the truth about Ruth’s parentage. You’ve kept Benny in the dark about being a father, but when the truth comes out, Benny Cross shows up at your doorstep, forcing a reunion and the long-overdue conversation you never thought you’d have. Will you and Benny find a way to navigate the past and the future for Ruth’s sake?
WARNING(S) — Themes of pregnancy and parenthood, emotional tension and reconciliation, mild language, angst with eventual resolution
𝜗𝜚 ALL FEEDBACKS, IDEAS SUGGESTION — TO AUSTINSWIFE
The air in your hometown felt thicker than you remembered. It had been four long years since you left, and as you walked down the cracked sidewalk, you held Ruth’s tiny hand in yours. She skipped along happily, her blond curls bouncing with every step, completely unaware of the weight you carried on your shoulders.
“You doing okay, honey?” you asked, looking down at her bright face. Ruth looked up at you, smiling wide.
“Yeah, mama! Can I get a cookie at the store?” she asked, her voice high and excited.
“Of course, sweetheart,” you replied, squeezing her hand gently. You tried to push away the unease gnawing at you. Being back here, after all this time, stirred up memories you thought you’d buried. Memories of Benny.
You shook your head slightly, trying to focus on the task at hand: groceries. But Ruth’s resemblance to her father was impossible to ignore. The same intense blue eyes, the same mischievous grin. Every time you looked at her, you saw him. But he didn’t know. He couldn’t know.
You’d made that decision years ago, thinking it was for the best. Benny was deeply entrenched in the Vandals Motorcycle Club, and you didn’t want your daughter anywhere near that life. When you left town after the breakup, you hadn’t told him about the baby. Now, you weren’t sure if that was the right decision. But you had to do what was best for Ruth, and staying in the city had become impossible. It was just too expensive.
“Ruth, stay close, okay?” you reminded her as you approached the local grocery store.
As you reached for the door, you heard a familiar voice behind you. “Well, well, well. Look who decided to come back to town.”
You turned, your heart pounding in your chest. Standing there, arms crossed, was Johnny. His eyes sparkled with recognition, and his lips curved into a smirk. Johnny was one of Benny’s closest friends, another member of the Vandals. You hadn’t seen him since you left, but you weren’t surprised to find him still hanging around the old neighborhood.
“Johnny,” you said, forcing a smile. “Long time no see.”
He looked you up and down, a slow grin spreading across his face. “It’s been a while. What brings you back, huh? Miss us?”
You shifted awkwardly, trying to brush off his teasing. “Just… needed a change. The city wasn’t working out for me and Ruth.”
At the mention of your daughter, Johnny’s gaze shifted to the little girl at your side. Ruth smiled up at him, her face full of innocence and curiosity. Johnny’s eyes widened as he took her in, his brows knitting together in confusion.
“This your kid?” he asked, glancing between you and Ruth.
“Yeah,” you said softly, pulling Ruth a little closer to you.
Johnny squatted down to Ruth’s level, giving her a gentle smile. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
“Ruth!” she said proudly, her eyes lighting up as she spoke to him. “I’m four.”
Johnny chuckled, but when he stood up, his expression was more serious. His eyes locked onto yours, and you could see the wheels turning in his head.
“Four, huh?” he said slowly, raising an eyebrow. “She looks an awful lot like Benny.”
Your stomach dropped. You hadn’t expected this conversation to happen so soon—if at all. You glanced down at Ruth, who was blissfully unaware of the tension between you and Johnny.
“Look, Johnny…” you began, your voice low. “It’s complicated.”
“Complicated?” Johnny repeated, his eyes narrowing. “Is she Benny’s?”
You hesitated, biting your lip. The truth was right there, hanging in the air between you. You hadn’t planned to tell anyone—not like this. But it had been four years. Benny had a right to know, didn’t he?
“Yeah,” you finally admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. “She’s Benny’s.”
Johnny let out a low whistle, running a hand through his hair. “Does he know?”
You shook your head. “No. He doesn’t.”
Johnny sighed, glancing back at Ruth before meeting your eyes again. “You know I gotta tell him, right?”
You swallowed hard, your heart pounding in your chest. “I figured you would.”
He gave you a long, searching look, like he was trying to piece together the years you’d been gone. Finally, he nodded. “Alright. I’ll give you some time. But you know Benny’s not gonna take this lightly.”
“I know,” you said quietly, looking down at Ruth. “I just… I wasn’t ready.”
Johnny’s expression softened, just a bit. “Benny’s changed, you know. He’s not the same guy you left behind.”
You weren’t sure if that was supposed to make you feel better or worse. “Thanks for the heads-up, Johnny.”
With a final nod, Johnny turned and walked away, leaving you standing there with a storm of emotions swirling in your chest. You weren’t sure how Benny was going to react, but you knew that this was only the beginning.
That evening, after you’d put Ruth to bed, you found yourself standing at the kitchen sink, washing dishes, trying to calm the nerves that had been buzzing inside you since your encounter with Johnny. You hadn’t been prepared for this. You hadn’t expected Benny to come back into your life, not like this.
The knock on the door startled you, sending a dish slipping from your hand into the soapy water with a splash. You frowned, glancing at the clock. It was late—too late for visitors.
Wiping your hands on a towel, you crossed the small kitchen and went to the door. When you opened it, your heart nearly stopped.
Benny Cross stood on your doorstep, his eyes dark and stormy under the dim porch light.
“Benny,” you breathed, shocked to see him standing there, after all these years.
“Johnny told me,” he said, his voice rough and low, the familiar drawl that sent chills down your spine. “About Ruth.”
You swallowed, your throat suddenly dry. This was the moment you’d been dreading, but you couldn’t run from it anymore. You stepped aside, opening the door wider.
“Come in.”
Benny stepped inside, and you couldn’t help but notice how different he looked. His hair was longer, his face more rugged, but his eyes were the same—sharp, intense, searching.
He stood in the middle of your small living room, his eyes scanning the space before landing on you. You felt exposed, vulnerable, like all your secrets were laid bare.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” His voice was low, but there was an edge to it, anger and hurt simmering beneath the surface.
You took a deep breath, trying to find the words. “I didn’t know how.”
“Didn’t know how?” Benny scoffed, running a hand through his hair. “I had a right to know, didn’t I?”
“I know,” you said quickly, your voice trembling. “I know you did. But when I found out, we’d already broken up. You were… you were in deep with the club, Benny. I didn’t want Ruth growing up around that.”
He stared at you for a long moment, his jaw clenched. “So you thought it was better to just keep her from me? To let me go on with my life not knowing I had a daughter?”
Tears stung your eyes as you looked away, unable to meet his gaze. “I didn’t know what else to do. I was scared.”
Benny let out a harsh breath, pacing the small room. “And now? Now you’re back, and I’m just supposed to be okay with this?”
“I didn’t plan for you to find out like this,” you admitted, wiping at your eyes. “But she’s your daughter, Benny. I can’t change that.”
Benny stopped pacing, his eyes softening slightly as he looked at you. “Does she know? About me?”
You shook your head. “Not yet. She’s asked about her dad, but I wasn’t sure when the right time would be.”
Benny nodded slowly, his expression conflicted. He was angry—of course, he was—but there was something else there, too. Something softer.
“Can I see her?” he asked quietly, his voice rough with emotion.
Your heart clenched. “She’s sleeping. But… yeah. Tomorrow. You can meet her.”
Benny looked at you, really looked at you, for the first time since he walked in. His eyes softened, and for a brief moment, you saw the man you fell in love with all those years ago.
“I’m not gonna lie,” he said, his voice quiet. “This hurts, more than I ever thought it would. But I want to know her. I want to be a part of her life.”
“I know,” you whispered, your heart aching. “I want that too.”
For a moment, the two of you stood in silence, the weight of the past pressing down on you both. But there was hope, too. Hope that maybe, somehow, you could find a way to move forward—for Ruth’s sake, and maybe even for your own.
The next morning, you were up early, barely able to sleep after everything that had happened the night before. Benny had stayed the night, crashing on the couch, though the tension between you both made the air thick and hard to breathe. He had spent hours asking you about Ruth—what she liked, her favorite foods, her bedtime stories. Every question was laced with the regret of not knowing her from the beginning, and every answer you gave chipped away at the emotional wall between you both. It was clear he wanted to know her, to make up for lost time.
As you sipped your coffee, you watched Benny sitting at the kitchen table, his fingers nervously drumming against the wood. It was still early, and Ruth hadn’t woken up yet. He hadn’t said much that morning, but you could tell he was lost in thought, likely trying to figure out how he’d explain himself to the little girl who didn’t even know he existed.
The sound of small footsteps padding down the stairs broke the silence, and Benny immediately sat up straighter, his eyes fixed on the doorway.
“Here we go,” you whispered to yourself, taking a deep breath. This was it—the moment you’d been dreading but knew had to happen.
Ruth rounded the corner, rubbing her sleepy eyes, her messy blonde curls sticking out in all directions. She wore her favorite pink pajamas, the ones with little stars and moons printed all over them.
“Mama, can I have sandwich please?” she asked, her voice still thick with sleep.
But then she noticed Benny sitting at the table. Her small body froze for a moment, her big blue eyes—so much like his—staring at him with open curiosity. Benny stood up slowly, his tall frame seeming even larger in the small kitchen.
“Who’s that, Mama?” Ruth asked, looking up at you with wide eyes.
You swallowed hard, kneeling down beside her to be at her eye level. Your heart raced as you tried to find the right words. How do you tell a four-year-old that the man she’s been asking about for years is standing right in front of her?
“Ruth, sweetheart,” you began, your voice soft but steady. “This is Benny. He’s… he’s your dad.”
Ruth blinked, her little face scrunching up in confusion as she looked from you to Benny and back again. “My dad?”
“Yes,” you said gently, brushing a lock of her hair behind her ear. “Remember when you asked about your dad? I told you that you had a dad, and one day, when it was time, you’d get to meet him. Well, Benny… he’s your dad.”
For a moment, Ruth stood completely still, processing what you had just told her. Then, without warning, she broke into a wide grin, her eyes lighting up with excitement.
“My dad!” she exclaimed, her voice full of joy. She rushed over to Benny, her small arms wrapping tightly around his legs in a fierce hug. “Hi, Dad!”
Benny’s eyes widened in surprise, but after a brief moment of hesitation, he slowly crouched down to her level. His hands trembled slightly as he reached out to hug her back, his large arms encircling her tiny frame. He closed his eyes for a second, as if trying to hold on to the moment—his first hug from his daughter.
“Hey, Ruth,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “Hey.”
Ruth squeezed him tighter, burying her face in his chest. You could see Benny’s shoulders tense, but he held her close, his face softening as he stroked her hair.
After a long moment, Ruth pulled back slightly, just enough to look up at him, her big blue eyes filled with a mix of joy and confusion. She tilted her head, studying him carefully.
“Where were you, Dad?” she asked, her voice small but full of innocence. “Me and Mama were trying to find you. Mama said you were out there, but we couldn’t find you.”
Your heart clenched at her words. You hadn’t expected her to say that. It wasn’t true—you hadn’t been searching for Benny—but to Ruth, it must have felt like that. Every time she asked about her dad, every time you had to come up with a new excuse, it probably felt to her like you were both looking for someone who was just out of reach.
Benny’s face fell, his expression crumpling with sadness. He swallowed hard, clearly struggling to find the right words. You could see the guilt etched into his features, and you knew that he was blaming himself for not being there—for not knowing.
“I’m so sorry, Ruth,” Benny said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. He cupped her small face in his hands, his thumbs gently brushing her cheeks. “I didn’t know. I didn’t know about you, or I would’ve been here. I would’ve been with you and your mom.”
Ruth blinked up at him, her face serious for a moment as she tried to understand. “You didn’t know?”
Benny shook his head, his voice breaking just a little. “No, sweetheart. I didn’t know. But I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere, okay? I’m here.”
Ruth studied him for a moment longer, her little brow furrowing. Then, without another word, she threw her arms around his neck, hugging him even tighter than before.
Benny held her close, closing his eyes as he rested his chin on top of her head. You could see the tears welling up in his eyes, though he was trying his best to hold them back. He kissed the top of Ruth’s head, his voice a soft whisper as he spoke.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart,” he said again, his voice cracking. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there.”
You felt a lump rise in your throat as you watched them, your heart aching for both of them. Ruth didn’t fully understand, not yet, but you could see the instant bond between them—the connection that had been there all along, just waiting to be realized.
After a long moment, Ruth pulled back again, looking up at Benny with a small smile. “Can we go play at the park later, Dad?”
Benny chuckled softly, brushing a tear from the corner of his eye as he smiled down at her. “Yeah, Ruth. We can do whatever you want.”
Ruth beamed up at him, her excitement returning full force. “Yay! I’m gonna get my shoes!”
She scrambled out of his arms and dashed toward the stairs, her little feet pattering against the floor as she went to get ready.
You and Benny stood in silence for a moment, the air between you heavy with unspoken words. Benny turned to you, his eyes full of gratitude and something deeper—something that felt like hope.
“Thank you,” he said quietly, his voice raw with emotion. “Thank you for giving me this chance.”
You nodded, tears brimming in your own eyes. “She deserves to know her dad, Benny. And I think… maybe it’s time we figure this out, for her sake.”
Benny took a deep breath, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he nodded. “Yeah. We’ll figure it out. For her.”
As Ruth came running back into the room, her shoes in hand, you couldn’t help but feel that maybe, just maybe, things were going to be okay. It wouldn’t be easy—there were still so many things to work through—but seeing Benny with Ruth, seeing the way they had connected so instantly, gave you hope.
And that was enough for now.

ah! love - 3
genres: married life au, family au, fluff, a little... angst? but we know it ends up okay (best friends to lovers) relationship: husbands 95 line x reader (feat. baby doremi line) words: 2.0k warnings: none notes: joshua centric!! also they live somewhere where it gets cold sometimes. I know that Joshua's had a little less time in the a!l spotlight, so I hope this satisfies the shushus[?] out there! this is the first >1k bday fic I've written in a while idk what came over me lol
ah! love masterlist
Joshua saves the day...wait, the night?
Joshua loves his kids. More than anything, though that thought sometimes scares him if he thinks too hard about it. The point is, he loves his sticky little mischievous imps, no matter how many times they throw up in the middle of the night, or run around with food half-chewed in their mouths because they've yet to develop a fear of choking like he and the rest of his partners have, or the half a million other things they don't warn you about parenthood. He loves his sons, end of sentence. Period.
But that's not to say they were his idea. Like a lot of the current life he feels overwhelmingly lucky to live, none of this was his idea. He hadn't even dreamed of it -- even his sleeping consciousness couldn't have been so creative as to spin the love story that led to his present. He hadn't fathomed marrying you and his other two best friends.
The marriage was Seungcheol's idea. But apparently you and Jeonghan were already thinking about it, too.
Joshua had been entirely caught off guard.
He was thinking too rigidly, he realized. Their marriage isn't legally recognized in any sense, and it was for that reason that he'd never even considered it in the first place... but it's still his marriage, whether penned and signed or not. There are three rings on his finger to prove it.
The kids were Jeonghan's idea. Well. The kid was sort of his, Seungcheol's and your idea. Jeonghan had said he'd always dreamed of having two kids -- a boy and a girl, like him and his little sister. You'd had your own fears about children, as did Seungcheol. You were scared you wouldn't know how to parent, wouldn't be able to raise a child in the way they deserved. Seungcheol worried how a child raised in their unconventional family would be treated by their peers. They'd all chosen the life they would live together, society's judging eyes be damned, but the child wouldn't have a choice, least of all an informed one.
Over the breakfast that was long forgotten after Jeonghan made his casual suggestion and vulnerable confession, you and Seungcheol eventually needled him down to one kid. Maybe.
As for Joshua, he didn't say a word. He was too lost in his own head, imagining a swaddled baby in your arms, and you in his. A shimmering mirage of his lips pressed upon your forehead, before he bent slightly to kiss the baby's tiny hands.
One kid may have been Jeonghan's, Seungcheol's, and your idea, but with Joshua, and circumstances as they were, you came home with three.
So perhaps some of this was his idea.
Not this, though.
"Papa...?"
Joshua blinks himself awake. His room is mostly dark, but warm light filters in from the hallway. The culprit? A little boy with one hand on the doorknob and the other wiping the corner of his bleary eye. Joshua can't tell who it is by looks alone, since the boy is all but a silhouette in the doorway, but he knows from the sound of his voice that it's Vernon.
Slowly, he removes his arm from around your waist. It's unlucky, maybe, that tonight you chose to sleep in Joshua's room, and then Vernon decided this was the place to be, too. He scoots away from you, then tries to lightly step across the room to kneel in front of Vernon. "Hey, bud," he whispers, trying desperately not to wake you up after a long day. "Can't sleep?"
"Bad dream," Vernon mutters.
⭒-⭒-⭒
"Bad dream?" Joshua sat up from the couch he was sleeping on just a minute ago, and he watched you whip around like a kid with their hand caught in the cookie jar.
But you only had a glass of water in your hand, and you winced as you turned off the tap. "Sorry. I was trying not to wake you."
"You didn't." Not really, anyway. The couch wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing to sleep on in the first place, which was why he offered you his room to sleep in while you needed a place to stay for the night. Actually, both Jeonghan and Seungcheol had offered their beds too, and it became a bit of a squabble, but you'd settled things by just picking the room offered to you first.
"Liar," you said, and even though the only light in the room came from the moon through the balcony windows, he could hear the smile the word came through. Still, there was a certain tiredness in your voice.
"Seriously. What's wrong?"
A sigh left you.
"Come, sit," he insisted. "Talk to me. You know I'll annoy it out of you eventually."
Another sigh came from you, but this one of reluctant, amused acceptance. You walked across the combined kitchen slash living space in in their three-room apartment, set your water on the coffee table, and sat on the other end of the couch from him. Too far for his liking.
"What's your mood like tonight?" you asked him as you relaxed into the cushions, your head resting so that you stared at the ceiling.
"On what scale?"
"Hm... holiday rom coms?"
He thought hard for a second. "The Princess Switch 2: Switched Again."
You snorted, rubbing your hands over your face. "Not good then?"
"Well, you did have to abandon your apartment because the heat turned off and your dumb landlord is completely MIA." He shifted his body to face you, one arm propped up on the back of the couch to lean his head on. "But you showed up here wearing a comedic amount of layers, so the day had its funny moments."
A laugh bubbled from your throat, and Joshua found himself smiling in the dark. "I guess you're right. How's your mood in terms of..." You let your head flop to the side to look at him. "...a hug?"
He had to wonder sometimes if you had absolutely no idea what he would do for you if you asked. A hug wouldn't be on that list-- it was so easy that it didn't even constitute consideration.
But his heart warmed, because even though he knew he'd never refuse to give you something so simple as a hug, you knew he wasn't constantly the physical affection kind of guy. You wanted to ask him. You wanted his comfort, but only if he was willing.
God, was he willing.
"All yours." He opened up his arms, and you all but sank into him.
You both stayed like that for a while, silent, but warm. He was satisfied with you in his arms, but he could tell your mind was still stewing.
"You gonna tell me what's got you up so late?" he muttered, rubbing his thumbs back and forth on your sides.
"Do you ever think about the future, Joshua?"
Sometimes. But it was always with you in it. "Not really."
Leaning back, he brought you to lie almost on top of him, so now he was the one staring at the ceiling.
You sighed. "I try not to... at least not too much. But sometimes, on nights like these, I'm scared that I..."
He waited for you to continue, but when you didn't, he gently patted your back. "That you what?"
"That I want too much."
Joshua breathed in. Held that air for a few more seconds than necessary. Breathed out. He wondered if it would always be like this-- you being brave enough to speak aloud the fears he kept locked up.
"Don't be scared," he whispered, because what else could he say?
Me too?
No. He couldn't know if you meant it in the same way he felt, and it would be selfish to let his words and feelings out now, while his two other best friends were asleep mere meters away.
You chuckled, as if to dispel any vulnerability you'd revealed. "Easy for you to say."
You had no idea.
"I'll protect you."
"Ah, right. Did you read my mind? We'll have to sleep out here tonight."
Not yet catching up to your joke, Joshua loosened his arms around you and furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"
You lifted your head, a cheeky, bitable smile on your lips. Your voice lowered to a conspiratorial hush. "There's a monster under your bed."
⭒-⭒-⭒
Joshua ends up in the kitchen downstairs, all three boys sitting on the counter since Papa Seungcheol isn't there to discourage it. He tried to help Vernon right back into bed, he swears, but as soon as Seungkwan roused from his sleep and asked Vernon what was wrong, a conspiracy of monsters under each of their beds spiralled out of control. Even Chan got dragged in, heavy sleeper that he is.
Now, Joshua's showing them his ultra-secret monster repellent recipe. He melts an ice cube on a warm pan like a slab of butter, then pours warm water over it. Hiding more ice in his hands, he pretends to pull it from the pantry and adds that to the "mixture" too.
The boys watch, entranced and more than a little tired, as Joshua carefully pours the pan's contents into a measuring cup filled with yet more ice. He then pours that into a spray bottle they use to water the plants and screws the lid on. "There," he says proudly, presenting the bottle in front of the boys like it's a fine wine.
"What's going on down here?" your soft voice comes from the bottom of the stairway.
Joshua winces. "I was hoping I wouldn't wake you."
"It's alright," you say, though he can tell you're still fatigued. You walk over to the kitchen and pet the first boy's head that you reach, Chan's. "What are you all doing up?"
While Vernon makes grabby hands for you to run your fingers through his hair as well, Seungkwan answers. "Papa Shua's making monster-go-away juice."
"Monster-go-away juice?" you echo, then turn to Joshua with feigned shock and a quiet gasp. "Not your secret recipe?"
Joshua smiles. You're always so quick to match his humour. "I know." He throws the boys a look before meeting your eyes with full, teasing seriousness. "But I think they're ready."
Your eyes glimmer with laughter, but you hold yourself back for the sake of the bit. Turning to your sons, you wag your finger. "This is powerful stuff, boys. You have to use it carefully."
Chan's eyes are wide, sparkling with awe as he takes in your every word. Seungkwan and Vernon are equally rapt. Joshua's going to have to explain all this to the more straightforward husbands tomorrow, but tonight? Seeing the adorable looks on his sons faces and the playful tilt of yours is totally worth it.
"But don't worry," he chimes in. "It only works on monsters. It's harmless to humans. See?"
In a flash, he points the bottle at you and pulls the trigger, spraying a thin mist of water-water right in your face. You flinch in surprise, affronted, but only Joshua can tell. You laugh, then look at the boys again. "See? Nothing." You snatch the spray bottle from him. "It doesn't do anything to papa Joshua, either."
Okay, he thinks as you spray him not once, but three times, he deserves that.
"Now, papa Joshua and I are going to take care of any monsters, and then we're all gonna go to sleep, okay?"
The boys nod, and Vernon yawns, then motions for you to pick him up. You send a look Joshua's way, and he sends one right back. He gathers both Seungkwan and Chan in his arms, but before you start the trek up the stairs, he stops you. Each of the sons in his arms get a kiss to the top of their head, and then he leans over and presses one to your temple. Lastly, he bends down and, while Vernon has raised his arm to once again rub his eyes, Joshua kisses his tiny little hand. Just like he imagined over breakfast not so long ago.
No, waking up in the middle of the night to save his sons from imaginary monsters was never his idea. Neither was this life, or this family.
But Joshua wouldn't have it any other way.

Playing Pretend - Jamie Drysdale
Summary: In which Jamie and his girlfriend end things after pretending everything was okay. Or in which Jamie's girlfriend moves in with Trevor while attempting to keep her pregnancy hidden from everyone.
content: pregnancy, mentions of abortion, long distance, keeping secrets from partner (if that's a warning idk), angst, fluff, mentions of sex, implications of cheating/being unfaithful, jamie's trade :(
notes: this one is a bit more angsty than my other fics. i wanted to experiment with trying something new. possible happy ending tho. guess you'll have to read to find out ;) sorry if it seems rushed, i didn't know how to format it :/
"Of course, you have options. You can read more about those here. This is a judgement free zone," the nurse continued to drone on about scheduling another appointment, but Violet had tuned her out. In fact, the only thing that Violet could hear was her heart pounding in her chest.
"Thank you," she mumbled, grabbing the paperwork and shoving it into her purse. All she wanted was Jamie and he was on the other side of the country.
Once she was safely in her car in the parking lot, she let the tears fall. A baby? How was she supposed to take care of a baby when her boyfriend lived five hours away by plane. They barely spoke more than twice a week at this point. Their relationship was falling apart and a baby wasn't going to save it.
"How was the doctor?" Trevor asked as she walked through the door, kicking off her shoes.
"Fine. Just food poisoning, like you thought."
"I told you! Never eat grocery store sushi, Vi. Should've listened to me."
"Ha. I guess you know best, Trev. I'm gonna go lie down. I'm still nauseous."
"Make sure you text Jamie! He was worried about you."
"I'm sure he was," she mumbled, making her way to her bedroom. She looked at the picture on her bedside table. It was of her and Jamie at his first game with the Ducks. She'd been so proud to see him move from the Gulls to the NHL. He had his arm wrapped around her waist and was looking down at her like she'd hung the moon and stars in the sky, while she smiled happily into the camera. Violet sighed, putting the photo face down. She couldn't bare to look at Jamie's face right now, photo or not.
Her phone buzzed.
Jamie <3: Trev texted. Said it's food poisoning like he thought. Feel better. I love you
Vi: Thanks, Jam. Love you too
Lying to Jamie made her stomach churn. In fact, everything was making her stomach churn at the moment. Trevor had made sausages with his breakfast that morning, leading to her projectile vomiting in the kitchen. Which is when Trevor finally convinced her to go to a walk-in clinic. A walk-in clinic that sent her to Planned Parenthood. And now at the thought of Jamie not knowing about his child mixed with the baby in her womb hating the smell of everything, she was leaned over the toilet once more.
"Vi? Do you want some ginger ale?" Trevor asked from the doorway.
"No. I'm okay, Trev. Just, I- I'd like to be alone right now."
"Oh, right. Call me if you need anything," he sighed, gently shutting the door behind him.
Violet sniffled, reaching for her phone on the counter next to her.
Jamie was worried sick about Violet, but he was also focused on the game of NHL 24 he was playing with Cam.
"Wait. Time out. Violet's texting."
"Oh, shit. What'd she say?"
"That... that we need to talk?" Jamie furrowed his eyebrows.
"Shit. We can finish this later. Call her."
"Thanks, Cam. I- I'll be back," Jamie stood up from the couch, albeit a bit wobbly from nerves, speeding off to his room.
"Hey," Violet's voice cracked as it broke through the speaker of his phone.
"Hey, um, what did you wanna talk about?"
"Long distance isn't working, Jamie. I- I think we should end things."
"What? Vi? Where is this coming from? Did- did you meet someone in Anaheim?"
"What? God, no. Jamie- I wouldn't cheat. You know that. I just- this is too much stress for me right now."
"Our relationship is too much stress for you? I- I told you that you could move here. We could get our own place. I-"
"Jamie, I have a life here. I have a job. My friends."
"I had all of that too. But, I- I'm making it work here. You could make it work here, Violet! Please don't do this. You- you're the love of my life."
"Jamie, don't make this harder than it needs to be. I can't do this anymore."
"Please, Violet. Please."
"We- if you need anything call Trevor. Goodbye, Jamie."
Jamie didn't return to his game with Cam; he spent the rest of the night crying himself to sleep on his bed.
"You broke up with Jamie?!" Trevor shouted the next morning, waking up an exhausted Violet.
"Trevor? It's 6 in the morning."
"Yeah? Well Jamie just called me in tears, saying that you dumped him OVER THE PHONE?!"
"We're long distance. How else was I supposed to do it?"
"You weren't supposed to do it at all, Violet! You guys are made for each other! What's with this sudden change of heart?"
"We were barely talking anymore. I need a present boyfriend."
"Vi-"
"Drop it, Trevor! It's frankly none of your business!"
"None of my bus-"
Violet gagged, leaning over and puking on the hardwood floor. She looked up at Trevor, wiping her mouth.
"Get me a paper towel, please."
"Right. Um, right... This conversation isn't over."
He returned with a roll of paper towels. Watching as she pulled herself out of bed, to clean up the mess next to her bed.
"Why'd you break up with him?"
"I just told you. It wasn't working."
"But, you didn't even try to make it work. He said you didn't communicate it wasn't going well until yesterday."
"Wow. Does Jamie tell you every intimate part of our relationship?" she snapped.
"No."
"It was rhetorical, Trevor."
"Oh. He loves you."
"I know."
"Do you not love him?"
"What? Of course I love him. He's the fa- the first man I loved. I'll always love him."
"Then why break up with him?! He- he said you could go live with him in Philly."
"I don't want to leave Anaheim. I want to r- never mind. But, my job is here."
"Get a new one."
"God! You're so immature! It's not that fucking easy, Trevor! I'm not going to start my entire life over for Jamie! So fucking drop it!"
"I-"
"Drop it!"
Trevor dropped it. At least with Violet he did. He spent every day trying to convince Jamie to call her. To fix things. To figure what he could do. Jamie wasn't easily convinced though. After the mental anguish that the phone call with his now ex-girlfriend had caused him, he wasn't sure he wanted to go through it again.
Violet's morning sickness hadn't ended. In fact, it was getting worse. Morning sickness? More like all day and all night sickness. She was in agony. And Trevor as oblivious as he was, was getting suspicious.
"Maybe you should go to the doctor again? I don't think food poisoning is supposed to last this long."
"It's probably just stress."
"Why're you stressed?"
"Work."
"But- okay? I still think you should go back."
"Trevor."
"Yes?"
"I'm fine."
"You're pretending."
"What?"
"You're pretending everything is okay. You're just afraid to admit that things are worse without Jamie. Not better. You're more stressed. Hence the vomiting."
"Trevor, I- I have work to do."
Two hours later Violet was in the kitchen doing dishes when her phone started ringing.
"Trev! Can you get that?"
"Sure."
"Hi! This is Alice from Anaheim OB/GYN, I was just calling to confirm your appointment on Friday with Dr. Rhodes," the voice came through the phone.
"Trev! Who is it?"
"Sure, just let me get the phone to Violet. Oh, perfect! Thank you!"
"Hi?" Violet asked, pressing the phone to her ear.
"Hi! Is this Violet?"
"Yes, this is she."
"Perfect! Just a few questions to go over before confirming your appointment."
"Oh, of course."
"Any abnormal bleeding?"
"No."
"Dizziness?"
"Nope."
"How's the nausea you mentioned last time you were in?"
"About the same."
"Okay, I'll let the nurse know. We can get you some tablets for that. See you Friday at 11:30."
"Perfect, thank you."
Violet sighed, hanging up the phone.
"You're pregnant?" Trevor whispered.
"What? No."
"She said she was calling from the OB/GYN's office. Isn't that a doctor for pregnant people?"
"Not always. They also give birth control and stuff."
"But why would you need birth control if you're not seeing Jamie anymore?"
"For my periods."
"You're lying."
"I'm not lying, Trevor. Why would I lie?"
"You're lying. You always itch your wrist when you lie. You're pregnant. Does Jamie know?"
"Maybe it isn't Jamie's?"
"Yeah? Who else have you slept with? Nobody. You and Jamie had sex the night before we left for Nashville."
"Who told you that?"
"Jamie."
"Ew. I-"
"So it is Jamie's?"
"I'm not pregnant."
"Violet... is this why you dumped him? Are you getting... you know?"
"Not pregnant, Trevor."
"Fine, I'll drop it for now. But, if you were pregnant, I, um, I'd be here to help. I promise."
"Good to know if I am to hypothetically get pregnant," she mumbled, itching her wrist. Trevor let out a heavy sigh.
"You- you can tell me anything, Violet. I'm not going to tell Jamie if you don't want me to."
"You said you were gonna drop it. Plus there's nothing to tell him. Everything is normal."
"Right, um, I'm going out. Call if you need anything for your... food poisoning."
"Will do."
When she finally heard the front door shut, she let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. The tension in the kitchen had been palpable. She knew deep down that Trevor didn't believe her, but until she was showing she'd be able to hide it... maybe.
A month had passed and Violet was shocked to find that it looked like she was bloated. Violet had always been on the thinner side, but not to the point that she thought she'd be showing this early into her pregnancy. The doctors had confirmed that she was just over a month when she found out, meaning she was nearing three months. Baggy clothes became her new best friends. Unfortunately, most of the baggy clothing she owned were items she'd stolen from Jamie. This led to lots of looks from Trevor as she moved around their apartment.
Trevor now knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Violet was pregnant. He'd gone into her bathroom to find some extra toilet paper and come across an array of prenatal vitamins. He didn't bring it up though. The apartment constantly had an air of awkwardness shrouding it. Violet and Trevor were tip-toeing around each other. And he knew that eventually he would have to be the bigger person and bring it up, which was uncommon for the Ducks player.
"I was talking to Jamie today," Trevor mentioned as he twirled some spaghetti onto his fork.
"Hm. How's Jamie?"
"Better. He, uh, he still asks about you."
"Good for him."
"I'm sure if you told him... about your situation, he'd be willing to help."
"What situation?" Violet smiled, taking a sip of her water.
"Can we stop pretending, Violet?"
She shook her head, pushing away from the small kitchen table.
"God! Grow up, Violet! You're going to be a mom! Start acting like a fucking adult!" Trevor shouted as she retreated to her room, that Trevor had not-so-lovingly nicknamed "the cave." Her door slammed in response, shaking the pictures hanging in the corridor.
"Hey, girl!" her best friend, Aly, smiled through the FaceTime call. "How're those vitamins? One of the moms I work with says they're the best ones!"
"Good, I think. I've got a little bump now."
"Damn! Baby Drysdale is growingggg!" she dragged out.
"Don't call them that. He- I still haven't told him."
"Girl! You told me you were going to like a week ago! What changed?"
"He- I saw him on Instagram and he looked so happy. I don't want to ruin that."
"So... you're just gonna wallow in self-pity until your baby is born? What about when he sees you with a baby? Isn't he gonna be suspicious?"
"He already accused me of cheating. So..."
"Violet! No! We are not claiming you cheated and got pregnant from another man."
"Jamie's not ready to be a dad."
"Who told you that? Jamie?"
"No."
"Exactly. You don't know that!"
"I'll think about it, Aly. Right now, the doctor said I need to avoid too much stress. It makes my nausea worse."
"Uh huh. Lemme tell you about this date I went on!"
"Do you think Violet would be okay if I came to visit?" Jamie asked Trevor.
"Um... I mean you're coming to see me. It has nothing to do with her."
"I guess, you're right. I'll get a hotel though. I don't want to intrude on her space."
"Her space is also my space, Jamie."
"Yeah, but she's my... ex. It'd feel weird. Is she, um, seeing anyone new?"
"Violet?" Trevor choked on his water, "No. No. She's been busy with... work."
"Makes sense."
"What about you? Any new women in your life?"
"No. I just compare them all to Vi."
"When you come, maybe you can get some closure. Talk to her."
"If she lets me."
"If she lets you," Trevor smiled, continuing to help his best friend plan his trip.
Six months pregnant. Violet couldn't believe it. Her baby was the size of corn, according to Aly. It was hard to hide her ever growing bump, but Trevor's hoodies and some of Jamie's old clothes did the trick. She had no idea that Jamie was coming to visit. It was all part of Trevor's plan to get her to talk to him... and admit her pregnancy.
Trevor was buzzing as he walked Jamie up the stairs to their apartment.
"Violet did some redecorating, but it looks similar to when you left! She's still asleep, I think. She sleeps in on weekends."
"Not surprising," Jamie bit back his smile.
"Welcome back, bud!" Trevor swung open the door, leading his ex-teammate into his home. Jamie looked around, it was similar to when he left. A few pictures had been taken down and replaced with new ones, but it looked pretty much the same.
"Trev? Why are you shouting?" Violet questioned sleepily, rubbing a hand on her stomach. The baby had recently discovered how to kick and it was their new favourite hobby.
"Look who I brought home with me!" Trevor beamed.
"Jamie?" the girl suddenly looked much more awake, dropping her hands to her side.
"You... you're pregnant," was all Jamie could manage, staring directly at her stomach.
"Surprise?"
The group sat in the living room. Well, Trevor and Violet were sitting. Jamie was pacing around the room, running his hands through his hair.
"You're gonna go bald, Jimmy. Stop."
"She- you're pregnant?!"
"Yes. We established that, Jamie," Violet rolled her eyes.
"Yeah. Is it... is it mine?"
"Um..."
"Yes, the baby is yours, Jamie! Are you dumb?" Trevor furrowed his brow.
"You didn't tell me?! Neither of you?!"
"She... It wasn't my place."
"Yeah? What about you, Violet? What's your excuse?!"
"I- I didn't want to ruin your career."
"Ruin my career? No! You were just being selfish. Don't pretend this had anything to do with protecting me!" Jamie exclaimed.
"Jamie, can you sit down? You're stressing me out," she sighed, rubbing over where the baby was kicking repeatedly, sensing its mother's turmoil.
"Violet! We... we're having a baby."
"I'm having a baby."
God, she was just as stubborn as before.
"Z, can we have a minute?"
"Oh, sure," Trevor left and Jamie didn't speak until he heard the door close.
"Violet, this is serious. Why would you keep this from me? Is this why you ended things?" he asked, kneeling in front of her.
"Sort of. I panicked. I just, I don't want you to feel forced to stay because of us," she motioned to her belly.
"I... I still love you. A lot. God, I never stopped loving you."
"Jamie..."
"You... you can come live in Philly! We can fix us. And raise our baby. Be a happy family."
"I want to stay here."
"You... you can't keep my baby from me, Violet. Please," his eyes started to water, "Not any longer than you already have."
"He-"
"He? It's a boy?"
"Shit. Yeah."
"I'm going to have a son?" he smiled, the tears finally falling. Violet could feel her hormones acting up, her eyes also welling with tears.
"Henry."
"Hm?"
"I- I've been planning on naming him Henry."
"Henry. It's perfect, Vi. Can I?" he gestured to the swell of her stomach. She nodded, letting out a sob as his hands met the cotton of her shirt.
"Hi, Henry. It's your dad. I'm sorry I haven't been here. I- I don't blame Mommy. She did what she thought was best."
Violet continued to sob. Why was he being so sweet to her? She'd kept his son from him!
"Violet, can you just think about it? Please. Us and Henry in Philly."
"I can think about it, Jams," she cried, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Are you sure you built that right?" Violet asked for the fourth time, "I don't want him falling on the ground in the middle of the night."
"I followed the instructions, Vi. It's secure. He'll be fine."
"Are you sure? I just-"
Jamie cut her off with a kiss to her lips.
"I'm positive, love. Now stop worrying. Poor Henry is going to pop out early if you keep that up."
"I'd appreciate it if he did. He's been sitting on my bladder all day."
Jamie kneeled down in front of her, placing a hand where he saw the imprint of a foot kick.
"Can you move off Mommy's bladder? It makes her pissy. And Daddy doesn't want to deal with it right now."
"He's not listening. I need to pee," she waddled out of the nursery and into the ensuite. Jamie laughed, following her into their bedroom.
"You look good pregnant," Jamie commented as she emerged from the bathroom.
"Shut up. We're not having sex until this monster is out of me."
"He's not a monster!"
"He's giant! I can't breathe."
"Here," Jamie walked behind her, lifting up her stomach. She let out a long sigh of relief, the pressure being alleviated from her back.
"Thanks, Jams. I love you."
"I love you too," he smiled. Although they weren't the most stable couple on the planet, Jamie was just glad to have his girl back. And now he had his little boy too. He felt complete. And so did Violet. Complete and happy with their soon-to-be family of three.

Okay, let's talk about Ollie's experience with fatherhood.
I'm an Oliver Queen apologist forever, but I think that there's a tendency in fandom to go one of two ways- "absolutely perfect dad, no flaws whatsoever" or "evil abuser who shouldn't be within six miles of a child". This isn't an Ollie exclusive phenomenon, a lot of characters and topics do fall into that black-and-white mindset. But the thing is- Ollie doesn't have to be either extreme. Particularly with Roy, who most of the debate centres around, Ollie wasn't perfect! I think there's such a rich discussion point in terms of young Roy's relationship with Ollie, so much more than just That Panel. Because, in my interpretation, Ollie absolutely cared about him, absolutely saw him as a son, but also the idea of being a father is something that deeply terrified him. The idea that this literal child being dependent on him made it feel more real, if that makes sense. Coming to terms with the fact that he was responsible for another person's life was difficult for him, and so he put up this wall- hero and sidekick. A conceptual dynamic, one that's not based in reality. He can keep that distance between himself and Roy and decide what that means, he doesn't have to be a father because that word has so many strong connotations, but he can still express that he cares about Roy, in his own way. That's why he always calls Roy 'Speedy' even out of costume, that's why his first thought is that Roy's undercover in Snowbirds. He can focus on being a good mentor to Speedy, which will have a trickle-down effect to being a good guardian to Roy, right?
Unfortunately, kids' brains don't work like that! Especially not a kid who's already lost two fathers. Roy needed a stability in his teenage years that Ollie just wasn't able to give at that time. He didn't see "Ollie's nice to me as Speedy because he loves me and doesn't know how to show it", he saw "Ollie's nice to me as Speedy, which means I'm only good as Speedy". This, at least in my opinion, is a major factor in Roy’s later self-esteem issues. Roy’s constantly underestimating himself as a hero, constantly comparing himself to Dick, and pushing himself 24/7 to improve because he internalised the idea that if he’s good, if he’s the perfect hero, then he’ll be loveable. He can’t be bad, he can’t fail, he can’t back down because if he does, he’s nothing.
It’s absolutely not Roy’s fault, but also this doesn’t mean that Ollie’s an evil neglecting abuser, either. Even the best parents fuck up, and Ollie was by no means the best parent. He took in Roy as a sidekick, as a buddy, and then never really found a way to combine the ideas of sidekick and son. He assumed that Roy would be able to interpret meanings behind gestures, which is something that Roy seems to struggle with even into adulthood. I’ve talked about it a fair bit, Roy’s absolutely someone who relies on the explicit, but he’s also not someone who’ll ask for clarification, which has caused conflict in his relationships time and time again. And while it's something he has gotten better at as he's gotten older, a 12-18 year old Roy would absolutely not be able to read Ollie's motives.
And Ollie's fear of fatherhood isn't something exclusive to Roy, either. Sure, he'd gotten better at it by the time Connor and Mia entered the picture (speaking as an oldest child myself, we are the guinea pigs of parenting, I was my mum's sibling), he absolutely still expresses this with them. I mean, just look at his face when he finds out Connor's his son.
That's the face of a man who's just had the crushing weight of parenthood slammed down onto him again, the moment Connor stopped being an ally and started being his responsibility. He's scared, because Ollie absolutely does not see himself as a good father for someone to have. This was very much present during Roy's teenage years, but particularly since this is post-Snowbirds. Both in terms of Roy developing a drug addiction and in terms of Ollie's own initial reaction to it, he immediately spirals. And, since we've already established he does not know how to process things, he lashes out at Connor.
And as for Mia, he's definitely matured significantly by the time she comes into the picture, and compared to with Roy he's a lot more open with his feelings. However!
He still won't explicitly accept the responsibility of fatherhood! Despite acting like a father to Mia in every way through his actions, he still won't use his words! Even though in the issue following, he expresses a paternal protectiveness over her.
And I think Mia's HIV diagnosis is maybe one of the biggest examples of his distancing himself and hiding his feelings, particularly when Connor asks him how he's feeling about it.
He's so fine, so totally fine, trust him when he says he's fine, totally not freaking out. He's absolutely not terrified for his not-daughter, no way.
Ollie has this fear that if he gets too attached to his kids, he's gonna end up failing them. If he keeps a distance from them, then he can't blame himself when they get hurt. Is this good parenting? No! Absolutely not! But this is also the man who dresses up as Robin Hood and who chose to die rather than lose his arm. This is not a healthy man.
But he tries, he tries so hard, even if it's in his own way. And he recognises when he fucks up! And he tries his best to mend it later on!
He's not the best at showing his kids that he loves them, but he's so proud of Roy when he becomes Red Arrow. He comes back to life to save Connor. He stands by Mia's side when she gets diagnosed and becomes Speedy. He's not a great dad, but goddamnit he's trying to be.
In conclusion, no, Ollie is not the perfect father. He's deeply flawed, and his own emotional incompetency has been and always will be a point of conflict between him and his kids. But he's not some uncaring abuser, either. He's trying.

i'm in love with you for that shannon post because i've often kinda theorized (but been scared to say) that she was maybe just a bad mom full stop. like the fanon version for a lot of people i think is that she was a good mom when chris was little but poor her she had the diaz parents butting in but i've always kind thought maybe she was just a shitty mom and needed the help? (not that the diaz parents weren't providing annoying passive agressive help i'm not disputing that lol)
hiii blushes...
and yeah like. we literally don't Know if she was a good parent when she was around because She Wasn't Around. people always say like oh well chris loves her! and it's like yeah because kids love their moms that's how being a child works.
i don't think it's necessarily fair to say that needing help = shitty mom because like everybody needs help raising a kid is hard but. shannon chose to keep chris and marry eddie. and then seven years later she says she isn't sure if she can be/wants to be a mom. SEVEN YEARS. two of which she has completely abandoned her child for. how the hell are you gonna have a whole seven year old and be like mmmm idk about this whole parenthood thing.
canonically while shannon was parenting chris she had eddie's income and benefits whereas when she left eddie with chris eddie had. none of that. he had to work three jobs to make ends meet. and frankly i don't think you can call somebody who leaves their kid for two years without Any communication or child support never reaching out to see if they're okay etc. a good parent.
like you can have empathy for shannon and her situation without just absolving her of the whole abandonment thing and insisting that she was actually a super good mom

If you don’t mind, which yandere twst boys do you see being most likely to exploit a mentally exhausted prefect to kidnap them?
To clarify, I think it can be argued that the prefect would be absolutely done with NRC after six life-or-death situations due to the overblots on top of being forced to adapt to education system of another world and putting up with the quality of students at NRC. You can’t tell me that a school full of villains would treat the only magicless student well. That just screams prime opportunity to manipulate the prefect into leaving NRC to go somewhere “safer” with one of the boys.
Once again, I’m just curious about your thoughts so don’t feel pressured to respond!
yes yes yes!!!
poor perfect tired to the bone from crowly and the other students. if only there was a knight and shining armor that can come and save them.
No longer an accidentally post! But I mean it did help me finish it lol

Riddle
yes, riddle was the first overblot (technically) and after his overblot, he felt awful about how he behaved. he was supposed to look after Heartslaybu but he ended up becoming his mother. he hated himself for that.
So now, not only is he taking better care of his dorm, with the help of his dorm. but whenever he sees you, he tries his best to check up on you.
How are you? Do you need help with any school assignments? etc.
they all had sweet intents at first but over time, you started to look drain.. like the life was sucked right out of you. when he asked ace and deuce, they confirmed that you were just tired of all the overblots and being crowley's lap dog. if only he knew how to help you...
at first he asked, trey and cater about how he should help you. they were mature enough to know, right?
cater, being cater, teased him on "having a crush on the perfect" or how he phrased it "oooohhh you are down bad!! lol" whatever that means...
Trey said that maybe ask the perfect if they do need help. but Riddle knows the perfect, they'll say they're fine even when they're not..
riddle felt lost and swallowed his pride as he dials his mother's number.
his mother was furious with the fact that riddle was facing an issue he cant fix himself but what she said about perfect shocked him.
"well.. maybe if this perfect isn't as perfect as their title, maybe they don't belong in Night Raven College!"
with that... the call ended.
now that he wasn't being held by his mother's strings, he saw red...! no one talks about his perfect like that! but.. she has a point.. (which makes him more frustrated) if perfect is miserable here... maybe they shouldn't be attending NRC. but where would they go...?
when he thought about that, he realized he didn't really want to be away from you... you mean too much to him.
so later that day, he requested you to join him in his room, he need to talk to you. you agreed cause why would you be cautious with someone you trust, plus you were too tired to worry about how strange the request was. he gave you tea and asked if you were okay.. you said yes, just stressed with some classes and drank you tea. it tasted... off.
you feel yourself shrinking.. you were shrinking!
you looked at riddle and he was just smiling at you! he picked you up and placed you into a tea pot.
"it'll be okay, my dear. once i graduate and get us a nice home, we'll live our happy lives away from this stress and... toxic poison. But for now, you'll have to behave. i love you, my dear"
~~~~~
Leona
Whether you noticed him or not, Leona watches you run back and forth, from hallway to hallway. Kinda like a mouse running around for food but also staying hidden. Sometimes your running around helps him sleep or just ease him to a zen.
He'd normally wouldn't bat an eye because you're just a lap dog for that crow. But after time has past. He watched as you get slower, more exhausted. like you're pushing to prove something. It ercked him more than he would like. It hit too close to home for him.
When he finally was able to approach you on the matter, you looked like your soul was taken from you. Something within just snapped. He had enough of this. He made the call and suddenly, savanaclaw students came to your side and dragged you to leona's room. If you try to resist, Leona lucky told them to not hurt you too badly. But accidents happens. With their rough handling, you blacked out.
You wake up with a pretty collar around your neck and a chain attach to it? You look around and this is not your ramshackle room. You tried to sit up for a better look and get quick pulled down by the chain collar. It nearly broke your neck! But Leona would say you're being dramatic.
"Quick moving, im trying to sleep.."
You looked and saw Leona. He was laying on your chest and his legs were holding your legs down. He was like a strange weighted blanket. He wasn't in his school uniform but looks like he's in home attire?
"Where are we, leona..?"
You said, scared cause your literally in the hands of a lion that could kill you really quick..
He ears twitched and he looked up at you, bored. But he let out a smirk.
"Were home~"
It took you a minute to process what he said... home? Apparently your confused was evident on your face and leona let out a long sigh. He moved or above you, pining you down.
"Were at Sunset Savanna palace and WE are both gonna be staying here until I can trust you'll be a good obedient herbivore and stay by my side."
You were lost for words and unconsciously started to struggle under leona. Trying to push him off, kicking your legs, he got really annoyed when you accidentally pinched his tail with the bed and your foot.
His retaliation was to slam you down, knocking the wind out of your lungs. As you were gasping for air, he bit you really hard on your throat. You let out a silent scream. You thought you were going to die. This was your last moment of life.
Leona eventually let's go but quickly replacing his fangs with his hand.
"You WILL be obedient... do I make myself clear.."
That wasn't a question.. it was a demand.
~~~~~
Jamil
Jamil hardly noticed you.. PERIOD.
He's busy not only taking care of scarabia but also their housewarden. While his housewarden takes the credit.. he hated it. And the fact his housewarden is so happy go lucky to him too. Makes his blood boil!!
Jamil truly believed that no one would feel his pain, his struggles.. because everyone sees Kalim "success" before anything!
You and Jamil were in the housewarden meeting, well on the outside of the office during the meeting. Jamil had to be there because Kalim and you were there for Crowley...
You both had a quick moment until you asked him hows he been? He lends his head back against the wall and sighs. You laugh at his actions.
"I get that, hehe"
His eye twitched.
"Do you now..?"
"Heh.. I really do. I'm here for Crowley, even tho he's the Headmage. He's like a spoiled brat with responsibility... and HE knowing more about this world, and the work he does for it, more than I do. But nooo... he still gives it to me!"
Jamil stares at you as you vent about your stress and struggles in NRC. He honestly thought that your life is harder than his! How on the seven do you-?
The doors to the office opens and you and jamil both stand up. The other housewardens walked off and kalim ran to jamil, like a parent picking up their kid in kindergarten.
Jamil sighs, seeing kalim's face makes him exhausting... he quickly looks at you, not turning his head to not make it obvious. You were walking into Crowley's office as he hands you a big stack of papers. He practically saw the light in your eyes fade... he HAS to do something.. but what?
A few days past and he just watched you get more exhausted. The more he watches you the more his feelings for you grows. And the more he watched you get degraded the more he wants to set the world on fire for you..
You couldn't hold a conversation as long as you use to now! What is Crowley making you do?
His hand balled into fist. Then he get an idea.. he's always wanted to do this but never thought about it, there will be come changes to the plan with you in it but it could work!
It was in the evening and he stopped by the Ramshackle dorm. With shaking hands he knocked. He can't believe he's gonna do it.
You answer and he quick took out a cloth from his pocket and covered your mouth. Your struggles were pointless with his strength and your muffled screams wasn't going to be heard by anyone since you practically lived in the middle of nowhere. You went limp and he smile grew.
You woke up, chained, gaged, and blindfolded. You didn't know where you were you were so scared.. but you hear foot steps...
"Good morning, my little desert flower~ im sorry I had to contain you like this, I can't risk anymore seeing you. But once we leave the Isle of Sages, ill let you see."
~~~~~
Lilia
Lilia has been watching you since that first day you came here. How much chaos your presence cause, not including Grims presence, was amazing.
He'd be lying if he said he didn't feel something for you after that first day.
Whenever you're doing anything, he watches. And if hes busy, he has his bats watch you instead. They'll report any and everything about you. Including the dark circles appear under your eyes.
To say he was a little pissed... was an understandment. How dare the Crow hurt someone he cared for..
Lilia had half a mind to just get rid of Crowley with a big display of his remand.. but his kids will be scar so probably not.
He'd would think about if for a bit and told himself, why not just take you to live in Briar Valley? You could live there and he'd support you and care for you. You have a caring personal type with how much you take care of those first years.
You'll make a perfect parent...
Lilia stopped by Ramshackle dorm for a "surprised visit". You thought his strange behavior was just lilia being a strange guy? Meanwhile lilia felt like he was young again when he's with you. He felt shy and anxious. He was all fidgety and not making 100% eye contact with you.
Oh by the seven, you stir something within him and its not unwelcomed.
"Lilia? I don't mean to be rude but.. umm... why are you here..? You kinda came at a bad time.. Crowley has some paper work he wants me to fill out for him.."
Lilia fidgeting stop and if you had his super hear, you'd hear him grit his teeth for a moment.
He flips around suddenly and gets a unsettling smile.
"I came because I just remembered a old story and I wanted to tell someone before it slips my mind!"
You stared at Lilia but nodded for him to continue.
"Do you remember when I told you about the story of the Thorn Fairy? And how she put a curse on this cute little human~?"
With every word he spoke, he got closer to you.. you tried to make some distance but it quickly was put to a halt when lilia grabbed your arm.
"L-ilia.. You're hurting me.."
You tried to pull away but nothing can compete with Lilia's strength.
"Did I also tell you that with skill and focus, a powerful mage, can change the effect of such a powerful spell~?"
You're particularly trembling at this point. He got up really close to you and he shows you a small sewing needle.
"I promise, it won't be too long. Just long enough for everyone to stop looking for you~"
{I didn’t give Lilia an art piece because I drew something similar already}
Baby fever. | Hazbin Hotel Character x Reader.
Idea. / Ch. 1: Introduction / Ch. 2.
"So cuuute! How old are they?", a cheerful voice asked and someone else chuckled in response. "They are four months old". The aww's and coo's made (Y/N) turn, spy at the pair with envious eyes before their gaze softened at the sight of such a small baby. So cute, they thought in agreement, I wanna be a parent too, spoil 'em rotten, squish their cheeks and give 'em lots of kisses.
Part of (Y/N) pondered if wanting a baby came from wanting to have a child to give them a better childhood than their own, or if they were truly starting that time of wanting a family they can call their very own. Either way, the sentiment and desire of becoming a parent was overwhelming at times, but the idea of giving birth... The pockets with no money for a surrogate, and the paperwork adopting meant as well as the years of waiting when they wanted to just hold their baby.
That's how (Y/N) pondered on making a deal with some unknown entity, someone in history ought to have done that at some point, right? Most likely. Maybe. Who was insane and desperate enough?
No, they rather not have someone answer because they knew that "insane and desperate enough" description was themselves in these moments. So... Yeah, being in a small rented cabin in the forest with questionable items (... at best, illegal at worst) set onto the ground before themselves along some pentagram drawn with chalk, it was a matter of fully going through with this — Hell wasn't exactly in need of sinners but God, they weren't about to steal a baby with hormones through the roof and hurt someone beyond repair.
Besides, they might lack patience but they weren't stupid enough not to draft a contract (were these okay? Or were they solely a deal in voice only? How did this work? Who could they even ask?!). (Y/N) just hoped, prayed, that whoever wanted their soul would be greedy enough to overlook a clause that chained the other part into parenthood.
Chanting the unknown words foreign to their mothertongue and feeling a major shift in the atmosphere, birds flying in sheer terror as the forest grew eerly quiet... Someone did appear before them.
the one where you find out
pairing: ceo!wooyoung x female!reader
word count: 906
warnings: mentions of throwing up, pregnancy, a little angst, a lot of fluff, insecurity about weight
now playing 🎧 birds of a feather by billie eilish
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
You find yourself in a relentless battle, desperately trying to suppress the nauseous feeling rising inside you as you work on your laptop, pushing through to finish your second book draft for your editor. The throbbing pain in your head adds to your discomfort. Positioned in the cozy corner of the company office, you take a moment to glance up from your work and spot your boyfriend, Wooyoung, engrossed in his own laptop tasks. Despite your feelings of discomfort, you appreciate the beautiful view of the city from where you're seated. The allure of the city's expansive view from the office adds a comforting touch to your writing environment, but your growing nausea forces you to set aside your laptop.
Without hesitation, Wooyoung rushes to your side and drops to his knees, providing support as he holds your hair back and massages your back. When you regain your composure, you find Wooyoung's concerned gaze fixed upon you. "This is the fourth time this week, honey; maybe you should see a doctor," he suggests, his eyes reflecting genuine worry.
"Sorry," you manage to utter, your voice barely a whisper, your eyes filled with tears, a reflection of your vulnerability.
Wooyoung shakes his head, gently reassuring you, "You have nothing to be sorry about, beautiful."
Wooyoung was quite insistent that you see a doctor after you threw up. Despite having an important meeting with seven other CEOs of his shared company, he wanted to accompany you. However, you insisted he attend the conference, and you went to the doctor alone, certain it was just a stomach bug or the flu.
Later that day, as you returned to your shared apartment, Wooyoung opened the door for you and immediately noticed your tear-stained cheeks and stoic expression, causing him to worry. "Babe, what's wrong? Are you okay? What did the doctor say?" As soon as the door was closed, you completely broke down, and Wooyoung quickly embraced you, guiding you to the living room couch as your sobs continued. He gently sat you down and knelt in front of you, taking your hands in his and offering his comfort and support.
"Beautiful, you're worrying me. Say something," Wooyoung says, his voice gentle as he reaches out to comfort you and calm your obvious distress. You're hesitant about telling him the truth, not because you're worried about his reaction but because of the overwhelming fear gripping your heart.
"I'm pregnant," you manage to say between sobs, bracing yourself for his response. As expected, Wooyoung's eyes light up with a heartwarming smile, his happiness shining through. You know how much he has always wanted kids, and you can't help but feel a rush of love as you witness his happiness. His warmth and kindness toward children have always touched your heart, whether he's playing with his little brother or simply interacting with the kids around him.
"Are you feeling scared? Is that why you're crying?" he asks, his voice filled with concern as he tries to understand the emotions swirling within you. You nod your head slowly, feeling the weight of your worries pressing down on you.
"Everything's going to be okay; you're the strongest person I know," Wooyoung reassures you, gently squeezing your hand. You can't help but let out a sniffle before revealing your real fears.
"Wooyoung, I'm scared of so many things. I'm afraid of gaining weight, feeling unattractive, not being a good enough mom, experiencing postpartum depression, the pain of labor, the responsibility of parenthood, and even the thought of you leaving me. And on top of all that, we're both still young and have our careers," you list off, feeling the weight of each fear as you speak it aloud.
"Baby, look at me," he says, gently placing a finger under your chin and directing your racing thoughts towards him.
"Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever make me leave or fall out of love with you. You're my everything. Don't worry about your looks because it's normal for your body to change during pregnancy. It's a beautiful process; I know you'll look like a goddess. I'll remind you of that every day if I have to. You don't have to worry about anything because I'll always be beside you. You're my first priority, and you're going to be an amazing mom, by the way," Wooyoung says with a voice so gentle and reassuring it warms your heart.
"Promise?" you ask, gazing deeply into Wooyoung's sparkling eyes, searching for any sign of doubt.
"Absolutely," Wooyoung replies, nodding firmly.
"Thank you," you whisper, feeling the warmth of his embrace and the reassurance in his words. Wooyoung has always had this calming effect on you, and in that moment, you feel incredibly fortunate to have him as your boyfriend. He leans in to kiss your pink lips as he sits beside you on the living room couch. The passion in his kiss speaks volumes, and as you pull away, a soft smile graces your lips.
"Thank you for making me a dad," Wooyoung smiles.
"This is your fault! Maybe use protection next time," you tease, crossing your arms but unable to contain your own laughter. Wooyoung's laughter fills the room as he rests his head on your lap. Gently, you run your fingers through his hair, watching as his eyes flutter closed. In that quiet moment, you find yourself grateful for the idea of creating a family with him.
2008
YOU WERE EXCITED TO HAVE SOME SLEEP AFTER THIS. With a smile, you approached your apartment, juggling grocery bags in both hands. The weight of the bags felt lighter than the relief you felt after finally securing a leave from your sorcerer duties.
Gakuganji had been quite adamant about keeping you around, insisting on your presence for various missions. Yet, you were exhausted, both physically and mentally. The constant strain of back-to-back missions had left you yearning for rest and proper sleep.
When you received the news that your leave had been approved, a wave of immense relief and joy washed over you. It was as if a heavy burden had been lifted off your shoulders. The thought of having a break, a chance to breathe and recharge, filled you with happiness.
However, as you entered your apartment, the excitement was briefly tempered by the realization that your pantry and fridge were nearly empty. The thought of enjoying a peaceful day off without any food was disheartening, so you quickly decided to go out and buy some groceries.
Now, with bags filled with fresh ingredients and your favorite snacks, including the much-anticipated coffee jelly, you couldn't wait to relax and enjoy the evening. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over your own quaint neighborhood.
The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink, creating a serene backdrop as you walked towards your apartment. The gentle breeze carried the sounds of children playing in the distance and the faint hum of traffic, adding to the peaceful ambiance.
As you neared your stairs, you paused, noticing a familiar figure slumped against the railing. The sight of the usually energetic and lively Satoru Gojo looking so worn out tugged at your heart. His head was resting against the railing, and he seemed to be half-asleep. Your brows furrowed in confusion and surprise. Why was he here all of a sudden? How did he even know where you lived? You’ve always left that from records.
"Gojo–kun?" you called softly, as you patted his shoulder. He stirred, blinking slowly, his cerulean eyes unfocused as he tried to wake up. “Are you okay? What are you doing here?”
"Hey, senpai." he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. "Sorry…. I didn't mean to fall asleep."
You could only frown, realizing how tired he looks. You can only think he’s been doing a lot of missions again. You’d already told everyone, especially Yaga–sensei, that the kids should be resting still. It’s only been a few months since the failure of their mission, since Gojo Satoru’s awakening. And since then, none had listened to your advice.
From what you heard, the missions they’d been sent on lately had been solo missions and one after another, they barely had any time to themselves. You purse your lips. They shouldn’t have to do this. Not when there were others there too. You could feel guilt pulse into you, for taking a break. It’s only a few days at most. But you couldn’t help but wonder what those three days could do to these kids. They’re getting overworked.
"You've been on too many missions lately, haven’t you?" you asked, concern evident in your voice as you looked at Satoru, who was now seated on the couch, still wearing the exhaustion from his recent endeavors.
"Yeah." he admitted with a weary sigh, his cerulean eyes meeting yours. "It's been non-stop. But passing on missions right now... I don't think that's a good idea."
You sat down beside him, feeling a mix of empathy and worry. "Why not? You need rest, Gojo–kun. Geto–kun’s been shouldering cases too, hasn't he? Surely there's someone else who can take over some of your workload."
“How come you’re formal with me again?” He pouts at you, taking you aback. “I thought I told you to just call me Satoru?”
“You’re my kouhai, and I am your senpai. There’s still degrees of respect—”
“I don’t care.” He retorts back at you, like the brat that he is. “Just call me Satoru, senpai. Please.”
It was evident in the desperation flickering in his bright blue eyes, the glasses perched slightly askew on his nose. Your own gaze, sharp and unwavering, met his own with understanding.
In the years you had known Gojo Satoru, you had sensed the weight he carried—names like Zenin and Gojo, identities tied to clans and powers, but never fully embracing him as an individual. He had yearned to be recognized for himself, as Satoru, not just as a bearer of lineage and strength.
"You're so talkative for someone who's sleepy, Satoru," you remarked with a sigh, breaking the thoughtful silence between you.
His response was a smile tinged with relief, a small spark of joy amidst weariness. "I always feel good when I'm with you, senpai," he confessed sincerely.
"Don't say it like that," you replied, feeling a rush of warmth to your cheeks at his words. You shook off the embarrassment with a playful scoff. "You're too much, aren't you?"
"Only for you, senpai!" he declared with a mischievous grin, his eyes crinkling with affection.
You shake your head at him. “Did you just come here from a mission? Where’s Geto-kun? I thought I told you to take a break?”
Satoru nodded, running a hand through his hair. "Suguru's been handling a mission by himself, again. Haibara and Nanami are already swamped with their duties. The higher-ups are stretched thin as it is. I doubt they’ll give us time to rest.”
You frowned, “They gave me time to rest.”
“I don’t think they’d go against a special–grade Zenin, senpai.” He points it out to you. “‘sides, I doubt that’s lasting long. You’re too valuable in the field.”
You sighed in resignation. “I suppose you’re right. But you can’t keep going on like this. You’re sleeping in unknown places like this. It’s unhealthy.”
He looked at you gratefully, appreciative of your concern. "I know," he admitted, his voice quieter now. "But it’s what there is. Besides, are you really going to doubt my six-eyes right now, senpai? No random bum is gonna defeat me.”
You reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. “Be that as it may be, I don’t think that you should be out here all by yourself.”
He watches you as you take out your keys. “You really do live here, huh?”
You turned to him. “You were just guessing?”
“Well, not really but I found you!” His grin annoyed you for a moment.
Your eyes narrow as you sighed. "Come on, let's get you inside."
He nodded, still groggy from fatigue, and followed you into your apartment. The weight of his exhaustion seemed to lift slightly as he stepped across the threshold. Satoru's bright blue eyes scanned the cozy interior, taking in every detail.
The living room welcomed him with its warm ambiance—soft, inviting cushions adorned the couch, bathed in the gentle glow of warm lighting. The faint scent of fresh flowers lingered in the air, adding a touch of tranquility to the space.
It felt like a sanctuary, a stark contrast to the sterile and regimented environment of the Jujutsu High dorms where practicality often overshadowed comfort. Here, in your apartment, there was a sense of homeliness that resonated deeply with Satoru.
The walls, adorned with personal touches and memories, spoke of a life lived beyond the battlefield of sorcery. Pictures upon pictures of you and two young women. He could only surmise that it was your friends from Kyoto Jujutsu High. It added a nice touch. But he always gets curious about it all. Still, he doesn't want to put you on the spot.
As he took in the aroma of vanilla essence, he could feel at ease. There was no need for Infinity in this proximity. He was with you. And when he's with you, he's free to be him. He's free to be Satoru. And with you, in this place, he could pretend and set aside the weight of his responsibilities of the strongest far away.
Satoru paused for a moment, taking it all in with a mix of gratitude and relief. He turned to you, a soft smile playing on his lips despite the weariness etched into his features. "Thanks for letting me crash here, senpai." he said, his voice tinged with genuine appreciation.
You returned his smile, feeling a rush of warmth at his words. "You're welcome. But next time, please call. I thought were dead, laying outside like that."
"But surprises are way more fun, don't you think?"
You sighed. "It's not fun for me, Satoru. I was going to enjoy my coffee jelly in my peace."
“You really have a nice place.” He says as he starts moving around the pillows to the side. “I really didn’t think that this sketchy place had anything to offer.
“I know the owner, she gave me a discount.”
He looks at you with a raised brow. “Why does a Zenin like you with so much money want a discount?”
“None of your business,” you retorted, setting the grocery bags down on the counter with a soft thud. As you walked over to where Satoru lay sprawled out on the couch, you couldn't help but observe him for a moment, taking in the weariness etched into his features.
“How did you really find my place?” you asked, curiosity tinging your voice.
Satoru gave you a lazy grin, his bright blue eyes twinkling mischievously. “The Six Eyes,” he replied simply, as if it explained everything.
You sighed, shaking your head in mock exasperation. “You’re so...”
“Charming?” he interjected, his grin widening.
“Infuriating,” you finished, though there was a hint of fondness in your tone.
You leaned closer, studying his expression. “Do you have a headache?” you asked, concern evident in your voice.
He nodded, his weariness becoming more pronounced. “A little.”
“And by a little, you mean a lot, hm?” you teased gently, knowing well the toll his abilities could take on him.
“It’s not easy trying to narrow down one area, figuring that area out with just your smell in the whole of Nakagyō-ku, you know!” he protested, half-serious, half-playful.
You raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at your lips. “That sounds like something a stalker would say.”
“Huh!? I’m not a stalker!” Satoru exclaimed, feigning offense.
“Also something a stalker would say,” you teased, unable to resist.
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. “Alright, alright, I plead guilty to having heightened senses,” he admitted with a playful glint in his eye.
You chuckled, shaking your head affectionately. “You're incorrigible, Satoru.”
“Only for you, senpai,” he replied with a wink, his playful demeanor melting into a genuine smile.
You shook your head, a small smile playing on your lips. “Are you hungry? I was just about to prepare dinner.”
“Ah, that would be great, senpai! I’m starving, y’know?” Satoru replied eagerly, sitting up a bit more on the couch, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten in anticipation of a meal.
You chuckled softly at his enthusiasm. “Alright then, let’s get you fed,” you said warmly, turning towards the kitchen with a sense of purpose.
As you began to gather ingredients and pots, the comforting routine of cooking helped ease the tension that often lingered from Satoru’s exhausting missions. You moved around the kitchen with practiced ease, preparing a meal that you knew would both satisfy his hunger and lift his spirits. The rhythmic sounds of chopping vegetables and sizzling in the pan filled the air, creating a soothing background to your conversation.
“So, any exciting stories from your latest mission?” you asked, glancing over your shoulder at Satoru as you worked.
He leaned back on the couch, a thoughtful expression crossing his features. “Oh, you know, the usual—exorcizing curses, saving innocents, the usual hero stuff,” he replied with a hint of amusement in his voice. But then he falters for a moment. “Though, the paper work is going to be a pain!”
You chuckled softly. “You make the physical work so easy.” you remarked, turning back to stir the simmering sauce.
“Well, it’s not always a walk in the park at all.” he admitted with a soft sigh. “But…. knowing someone who can be kind to me about it is with me….about everything. It’s good.”
You grinned. “Didn’t take you to be so emotional about that, Satoru.”
He pouts deeply. “Only you can see it like this, senpai.”
You smiled to yourself, grateful that you could provide him with this small comfort. As the aroma of the cooking food filled the kitchen, you felt a sense of contentment settle over you both—a moment of peace amidst the chaos of their lives as sorcerers.
As you moved around the kitchen, preparing dinner with practiced ease, Satoru couldn't help but watch you with a soft smile playing on his lips. The way you effortlessly navigated the space, your movements graceful and purposeful, captivated him. Each chop of the vegetables, each stir of the simmering pot, seemed like a dance orchestrated by someone who knew the kitchen intimately.
The comforting aroma of food slowly filled the air, mingling with the soft evening light filtering through the windows. Satoru leaned back on the couch, his gaze fixed on you with a warmth that bloomed in his chest. It wasn't just the meal you were preparing—it was the care and thoughtfulness behind it that touched him deeply.
In that moment, amidst the clinking of utensils and the gentle hum of the stove, Satoru realized how fond he had become of you. It wasn't just your strength as a sorcerer or your wisdom as a senpai that drew him in—it was the way you effortlessly made a house into a home, a sanctuary where he could find solace and peace.
"You know," he began, his voice soft yet filled with sincerity, "I think you're spoiling me, senpai."
You turned towards him, a playful glint in your eye as you stirred the pot. "Oh, am I?" you teased gently, your smile warm and inviting.
Satoru chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Maybe a little," he admitted, his gaze lingering on you with unabashed admiration.
As you placed the dishes on the table, the spread before him elicited a delighted grin from Satoru. "This looks amazing, senpai," he praised, his eyes lighting up with genuine appreciation.
You sat down across from him, sharing the meal together in comfortable silence, punctuated by occasional laughter and shared stories. The simple act of enjoying a home-cooked meal with you felt like a cherished moment, a testament to the bond that had grown between you.
And as the evening unfolded, wrapped in the warmth of good food and even better company, Gojo Satoru knew one thing for certain—he was incredibly lucky to have found not just a senpai, but someone who had captured his heart in ways he never expected.
Valentine's Day, 2008, he thought.
This is when it all started for him and you.
History can only get better with time.
2011
YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO. A year had passed since you married Satoru, and each day felt like a precious gift wrapped in tender moments and quiet smiles. It was something you never imagined for yourself, when you lived in Zenin manor. You never saw a future beyond what you were forced to have then. But here you are, with him, free and content. And it meant the world to you.
He never asked for much from you, always mindful not to overwhelm you with his larger-than-life presence. From the moment he slipped the ring onto your finger, he made it his mission to take care of you, to save you in ways big and small.
Satoru was a good husband—attentive, kind, and always putting your needs first. In the mornings, he would tiptoe around the apartment, making sure not to wake you as he prepared breakfast.
You often woke to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the sight of a beautifully set table, complete with a little note from Satoru that read, "Good morning, wife. Have a great day!"
He found joy in the smallest things, like holding your hand during walks in the park or surprising you with your favorite flowers just because he felt like it. He had an uncanny ability to make you laugh, whether through his goofy antics or his playful teasing. And every night, without fail, he would wrap his arms around you, whispering sweet nothings as you drifted off to sleep.
Satoru's love was a constant, steady presence, like a warm blanket on a cold night. He was always there, ready to catch you when you stumbled, to listen when you needed to talk, and to simply be there when words weren't necessary. His blue eyes, usually so sharp and intense, softened whenever he looked at you, filled with a warmth that made your heart flutter.
Despite his strength and the immense responsibilities he carried as a sorcerer, Satoru never let it overshadow the gentle, caring man he was with you. He made you feel safe, cherished, and above all, loved. In these walls that build your home, you never once felt out of place. You just instantly felt it. You felt like you belonged here. You felt like you had a place in this world, a purpose to live — because of him.
You don’t know if you were in love with him or if you feel like a wife should feel for one’s husband. But you knew you cared deeply for him. You knew that you wanted only the best for him.
And you want to be able to give it to him. You wanted to do everything in your power to see him smile, to protect his smile. You wanted to make Gojo Satoru feel like he has somewhere he can feel warmth in his humanity.
As your first Valentine's day approached, you found yourself wanting to show him just how much he meant to you. You wanted to thank him for all the ways he cared for you, for the endless patience and unwavering support he offered to you. So in that morning, you woke up early, determined to see him off on his mission. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft glow through the curtains.
Satoru was already getting ready, moving quietly around the bedroom. His movements were graceful, almost silent, as he slipped into his uniform. He glanced at you with surprise when he saw you awake, propped up on one elbow, watching him with sleepy eyes.
"What are you doing up so early?" he asked, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "You should go back to bed."
You shook your head, blushing slightly as you held out a carefully packed lunch bag. The pink bento box was wrapped neatly in a patterned cloth, a small handwritten note peeking out from underneath. Satoru’s vibrant blue stared at what you were holding, blinking – as though he could not believe what you were holding.
He knows what it is, it's clear to see. It’s like then, in those high–school dramas, where the woman would make the person she cared deeply for a bento, with those cute character designs. Silently, he hoped that it was a digimon–chara bento. He hoped it was Metalgreymon or maybe Skullgreymon.
"I wanted to see you off…." you said softly, your cheeks tinged with pink. “Is that….is that not what you want?”
“N–no, that’s not it.” He responds almost immediately, rubbing the back of his head. He looked shy by what you said, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush. “It’s just… I didn’t expect you’d be up this early, least of all for me. And doing this bento for me…”
“I–I wanted to!” You tell him, the blush on your face extending to your ears. “I… I don’t know how long you’ll be gone, but I… I wanted to show my appreciation… It’s Valentine's Day, you see…”
Satoru's eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and gratitude as he looked at the lunch bag from your hands. His long fingers brushed against yours, sending a warm shiver up your spine.
"You made this for me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, as if afraid to break the delicate moment.
You nodded, a shy smile tugging at your lips. "Yes. I wanted to make sure you had something good to eat. You work so hard, Satoru. You deserve it."
Satoru’s eyes softened as he took in your words, his heart swelling with affection. He reached out, gently cupping your face in his hands, his thumbs brushing against your flushed cheeks.
“You’re too good to me, y’know?” he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. “Thank you. This means more to me than you know.”
You looked up at him, your eyes meeting his own in a tender gaze. “You work so hard, Satoru. And all at once, you do well in taking care of me too… I just want to make sure you’re taken care of, even when you’re out there.”
He pulled you into another hug, holding you close as if he never wanted to let go. “You take care of me in ways I can’t even begin to explain. I should be the one thanking you, darling,” he murmured against your hair. “I’m so lucky to have you.”
He smiled, his eyes shining with a love so pure it made your heart skip a beat. “You flatter me.”
“It’s not just empty flattery… it’s from the heart, y’know?”
“I do know.” You smiled gently at him.
“I promise to come back to you as soon as I can, darling.” he said, his voice steady and reassuring. “And when I do, we'll celebrate properly.”
Your heart swelled with tenderness that you’ve never felt before. And yet all at once, that unescapable touch of sadness at the thought of his departure. You couldn’t help but stare at his beautiful face. That tender face, that laughing face. Gojo Satoru was the wonder of your world. In his existence, in his every breath, his every touch, his every grin — you couldn’t help but feel like life was anything else but worth living.
You leaned up and kissed his cheek softly, pouring all your emotions into that single gesture. You didn’t know what compelled you to do that. But at that moment, it felt appropriate.
It felt like something that you wanted to give him. It was at that moment, an earned gift. After all he had done for you, it was a thankful gentleness. You tried to be as tender as the wind when it brushed against his own cheek.
Satoru froze, stunned at what just happened. He looked at you, unmoving. In that moment, self-awareness brushed through you, and your cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
"I–I’m sorry," you stammered, stepping back slightly. "I didn’t mean to—"
He cut you off by pulling you into a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around you securely. "Don’t apologize," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "That was... perfect."
You felt his warmth envelop you, and you relaxed into his hold, your heart racing. "I just wanted to show you how much you mean to me," you admitted softly, your voice barely audible.
Satoru pulled back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes. "You have no idea how much that means to me, darling." he said, his gaze intense and filled with affection. "You always know how to make me feel special."
Your blush deepened, but you smiled up at him, feeling a surge of love and gratitude. "You deserve it, Satoru. You deserve all the love and appreciation in the world."
“So do you.” He says, his face scarlet as he smiles at you. “You always will, darling.”
“I’ll hold you to that promise, Satoru.” you whispered against his ear. “Be safe for me, hm?”
Satoru maneuvered his face, his forehead resting against yours. “Take care of yourself while I’m gone, okay?” he said, his voice full of tender affection. “I’ll be counting down the moments until I’m back in your arms.”
You nodded, blinking back the tears that threatened to spill over. “I’ll be waiting for you. Like I always am.”
With one last lingering look, Your husband took the bento from your arms and smiled. You returned it just as brightly. He turned to leave, but he stopped. Your husband lets himself glance back at you with a look that speaks volumes. No one else would have him like this. Only you. He would never let anyone else have this moment.
As he walked out the door, you could only think about looking forward to seeing him come home. Looking forward to having him in your arms, to enjoy a meal together, to laugh together.
You returned to your shared bedroom and smiled as you saw the lilac paper laying on the lamp table. You take the paper in hand and clutched it close to your heart. You take a moment before you read the words again.
"Think of me while I’m gone.”
You sighed, smiling to yourself once more.
You had some things to think over this weekend.
2015
HE COULDN'T DESCRIBE HIS LOVE FOR YOU. It has only been two months since you gave Gojo Satoru the best gift in the world: your little boy, Gojo Satoshi. The cute little boy who looked ever so beautiful, identical to his father, was his beloved, as much as you. And he could not get enough of him. The love that filled his heart seemed to expand with every smile, every coo, and every moment spent with his precious family.
The days had been tiring, filled with the demands of taking care of a newborn, the other children, and maintaining the household while Satoru was away on missions. Despite the exhaustion, you cherished every moment with your family. There was a quiet joy in the simple, everyday moments – the soft giggles of Satoshi, the curious questions from Megumi, and the boundless energy of Tsumiki.
Satoru, on the other hand, felt a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility. Nothing, he thought, would ever be enough to truly repay your love, affection, and the sacrifices you made for him. He was determined to be the best husband and father he could be, to ensure that you felt cherished and supported.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, you found yourself sitting in the nursery, gently rocking Satoshi in your arms. His tiny fingers clutched at your shirt, his eyes heavy with sleep. You hummed a lullaby softly, feeling a profound sense of peace despite the weariness tugging at your bones.
The door creaked open, and Satoru stepped in, his presence immediately bringing a warmth to the room. He had returned from yet another mission, looking both relieved and concerned. His eyes softened as they landed on you and Satoshi.
"How are my favorite people doing?" he asked quietly, moving to sit beside you.
"Better now that you're home," you replied, offering him a tired but genuine smile.
He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from your face. "You look exhausted, darling. Have you been getting any rest?"
You sighed, shaking your head slightly. "It's been a bit chaotic, but it's worth it."
Satoru leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. "You do so much for us. I wish I could be here more to help."
"You’re here now, and that’s what matters, my love." you said softly, your heart swelling with love for the man who always put his family first.
Suddenly, Satoshi stirred in your arms, letting out a small cry. You started to get up, but Satoru placed a hand on your shoulder. "I’ve got him, don’t get up." he said, taking the baby from your arms with practiced ease.
“You sure? You’re tired too, my love.”
"One hundred percent. Now, go back to sleep." he whispered, his voice tender and soothing. "I'll take care of him."
You nodded, too tired to protest, and watched as he leaned in to kiss your cheek. His touch was warm and reassuring. It always was something so wondrous, when he touches you.
He was ever so gentle, but firm to express its reality. Each and every touch, it was that repetitive, silent promise that he would always be there for you. And you were so happy, so lucky — to have that. You closed your eyes slowly, smiling against the sheets.
Satoru left the room quietly, making his way to Satoshi's room. He sat down on the rocking chair and tenderly took him to be cradled in the bounty of loving arms. He started humming little tunes that Satoshi had loved. Recently, he loved the melody of Hey Jude.
Satoru loved playing that song on your record player. But he thinks that there was no need for the record player. The smile creeping through your son’s lips was enough to tell Satoru that there was no need. His father’s humming was better.
As he rocked Satoshi back to sleep, Satoru’s thoughts were filled with a profound sense of purpose and love. He wanted to be a good father, a good husband. He wanted to create a world where you and the children felt loved and safe.
Satoru gazed down at Satoshi, the baby’s delicate features illuminated by the soft glow of the nursery lamp. The tiny rise and fall of his chest as he breathed, the way his fingers occasionally twitches in his sleep—it all filled Satoru with a deep, unwavering resolve.
“I’ll do everything I can to protect you, little dawn.” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “To protect all of you, your papa will do anything and everything.”
His mind wandered to the future, to the life he wanted to build for his family. He envisioned laughter filling the rooms of your home, the sound of Satoshi’s giggles blending with the playful banter of Megumi and Tsumiki. He imagined quiet, peaceful moments where he could simply hold you close, knowing that you were safe and content.
“My little dawn, you were such a gift. You always will be.” Satoru smiles tenderly. “You will always be the proof of mama and papa’s love. And we’ll love you forever. Big sister ‘miki' and big brother ‘gumi will all love you a lot too, hm? Always know that, little dawn.”
In that moment, as Satoshi's cries turned to soft murmurs and then silence, Satoru felt a deep sense of contentment. He looked back towards the bedroom where you slept.
Satoru knew that he would do everything in his power to make sure you never had to carry the weight of the world alone. Satoru looked down at his son, who was now gazing up at him with wide, curious eyes. He couldn't help but smile as he gently rocked Satoshi in his arms.
"What should I do to thank your mom for being everything in my life?" he asked softly, his voice Filled with affection, Satoru gazed down at Satoshi, cradling his tiny body against his chest. “It’s going to be Valentine’s Day soon, little dawn. What do you think Papa should do for Mama?”
Satoshi let out a cute, nonsensical babble, his tiny hands reaching up towards Satoru's face. His fingers brushed against Satoru’s cheek, and he responded with a soft chuckle, pressing a gentle kiss to his son's forehead.
"You’re right," Satoru said, as if Satoshi had given the most profound advice. "I should take care of her just like she takes care of us."
Satoshi gurgled in response, his big eyes sparkling with curiosity and innocence. Satoru’s heart swelled with love for his little boy and for you, the woman who had given him such a precious gift. Satoru wonders what he had done to be this happy. To have such wonder in his life, to be able to love and live. He sighed in contentment.
Gently swaying with Satoshi in his arms, Satoru began to plan a special Valentine’s Day. He thought about all the little things you loved—flowers, quiet moments of affection, and simple gestures that spoke volumes. He wanted to create a day that would remind you of how cherished you were, not just as his partner, but as the heart of their family.
Later, as he tucked Satoshi back into his crib, he whispered, “We’ll make it a day she’ll never forget, won’t we, little dawn?”
Once Satoshi fell back asleep, Satoru carefully placed him back in his crib. With quiet determination, he set about cleaning the house and doing the laundry. He wanted you to wake up to a peaceful, tidy home, a small gesture to show his appreciation for all you did.
As the morning light filtered through the windows, he moved to the kitchen and started breakfast for Megumi and Tsumiki, who were already beginning to stir. The smell of pancakes and eggs soon filled the air, and he could hear the kids shuffling down the hallway.
Megumi entered the kitchen first, rubbing his eyes and stifling a yawn. "Morning, Gojo-sensei," he mumbled sleepily.
Satoru chuckled, flipping a pancake with practiced ease. "Morning, Megumi. Did you sleep well?"
Megumi nodded, glancing over at the table set with plates and utensils. "Yeah. This looks good."
Tsumiki followed closely, her face lighting up at the sight of breakfast. "Wow, Satoru-san, this looks amazing!" She hopped up onto a chair, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Good morning, ‘miki!" Satoru greeted warmly, a smile brightening his face as Tsumiki bounded into the kitchen. "I thought we'd have a nice family breakfast today."
Tsumiki's eyes widened with delight, her cheeks flushed with happiness. "Ah, that’s so lovely, Satoru-san! Thank you so much for your hard work!" She hopped up onto a chair, her excitement palpable.
Megumi, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes, glanced at his plate and then at Satoru. "Thank you….I guess." he mumbled, his voice slightly muffled.
Satoru chuckled, pouring some syrup over his pancakes. "You're welcome, Megumi. Now go on. Eat!" He gestured with a playful nudge, encouraging them both to tuck into the breakfast he had prepared.
As they ate, Satoru glanced between them with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "So, what do you two have planned for Valentine's Day?" he asked, genuinely curious about their intentions for the day dedicated to love and affection.
Megumi blushed slightly, looking down at his plate. "I... I wrote a card for Gen-san," he admitted shyly. “And….maybe…”
Satoru raised a brow. “Maybe what?”
“....a hug.”
“A hug?” Satoru starts to grin. “Well, you know that bear hugs are encouraged. I really think it would be a fantastic Valentine’s day gift!”
Tsumiki beamed, "Me too! I worked really hard on my card too. And the paper flowers that I made! I can't wait for Gen–san to see it!"
Satoru's heart swelled with pride. "Gen is going to love them, both of you. You know how much Gen appreciates the things you do."
As he finished breakfast with the kids, Satoru felt a swell of pride and love for his family. Sitting around the table together, sharing smiles and conversation, filled him with a deep sense of fulfillment.
Megumi and Tsumiki were growing up so fast, each with their own quirks and personalities, yet united in their affection for you, the person they saw as their mother. They made him proud every day, not just with their accomplishments, but with the way they cared for and appreciated you.
Watching them interact, seeing how they expressed their love for you in their own unique ways, warmed Satoru's heart. Megumi's quiet thoughtfulness and Tsumiki's bubbly enthusiasm were reflections of the love and happiness you nurtured in their lives. It was a joy to witness how they cherished you, and he couldn't help but feel blessed to have such a loving family.
They were his world, and he was determined to make sure they knew it every single day. The love and warmth in their home were palpable, a testament to the bond they shared.
Satoru knew, without a doubt, that this was what mattered most—being together, supporting each other, and creating moments of happiness and love. It was all you deserved, and that realization made Satoru's heart swell with gratitude and affection for the family he cherished beyond measure.
You woke up to the sun streaming brightly through the windows, a gentle warmth filling the room. Surprised by how rested you felt, you stretched leisurely in bed before deciding to start your day. As you made your way through your home, a sense of calm settled over you, a stark contrast to the usual morning rush.
Entering the kitchen, you were met with a heartwarming scene that made your heart swell with love. Satoru stood at the sink, a baby strap securely fastened around him, gently swaying to a soft melody as he sang to Satoshi. The little bundle of joy in his arms giggled happily, tiny hands reaching out to playfully grab at Satoru's nose. It was a sight that melted away any lingering stress or fatigue from the day before.
Satoru glanced over his shoulder as he noticed you, a warm smile spreading across his face. He carefully set aside the dish he had been cleaning and moved to greet you, his eyes sparkling with affection. "Good morning," he whispered softly, his voice filled with the tenderness reserved for moments like these.
You couldn't help but smile back, your heart swelling with love for the man who always managed to surprise you with his thoughtfulness. "Good morning," you replied, your voice laced with a mixture of awe and gratitude. "You've already done so much."
"I wanted to make sure you woke up to a peaceful morning," Satoru said, his gaze never leaving yours. "And now that you're here, we can enjoy it together."
You moved closer to him, wrapping your arms around his waist and resting your head against his chest. The rhythm of his heartbeat was steady and comforting, a reminder of the love that bound your family together.
"Thank you, ’toru." you murmured softly, your words carrying the weight of all the love and appreciation you felt.
Satoru pressed a gentle kiss to the top of your head, his embrace tightening ever so slightly. "I love you, darling." he whispered, his voice filled with sincerity and warmth.
"I love you too, my love." you replied, your heart overflowing with happiness as you stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, grateful for the peaceful moments that made life so beautiful. “So much. You didn’t have to do all this for me.”
He nodded, his gaze never leaving yours. "I want to. You deserve to have a break and enjoy today, darling. You deserve it."
You leaned in and kissed him again, feeling a rush of warmth and love. "I don't deserve you. You’re so good to me, my love." you murmured against his lips.
Satoru chuckled, his arms wrapping around you. "It's me who doesn't deserve you, darling." he said softly, his forehead resting against yours. “Happy Valentine’s day.”
"Happy Valentine's Day." you whispered, your heart beating for him just as strongly as it did on the day you first fell in love.
You wish that all the years would be like this too.
You wish that you could just be this happy everyday.
And you know, Satoru wishes the same thing too.
2018
YOU COULD ONLY SIGH. It had been two months since Suguru's passing, and the grief weighed heavily on Satoru's shoulders. The loss of his friend and colleague, coupled with the memories of the events that led to Suguru's death, haunted him deeply. In an attempt to cope, Satoru abandoned his iconic Ryomen Sukuna bandages, which once symbolized his strength and resolve. Now, they served as a painful reminder of the sacrifices and difficult choices he had made.
Instead, he turned to light-sensitive dark glasses, a practical solution that shielded his sensitive eyes from the harshness of light. You observed him with a mix of compassion and concern, knowing how much he had endured. The headaches that came with his new eyewear only added to his burden, and you were determined to find ways to alleviate his discomfort.
Each day, you saw him struggle, his once vibrant energy tempered by moments of pain and fatigue. It pained you deeply to witness his suffering, knowing there was little you could do to ease the emotional weight he carried. Yet, your presence and unwavering support offered him a steady anchor in turbulent times.
One day, you decided to visit Shoko with Satoshi in tow. The atmosphere in Shoko's office was calming, the shelves lined with medical journals and the faint scent of antiseptic in the air. Satoshi, ever curious and energetic, was happily occupied with the marbles Shoko had graciously given him, rolling them around on the floor with childlike delight.
While Satoshi played, you took a moment to discuss Satoru's condition with Shoko. Sitting across from her, you felt a wave of relief knowing you could confide in someone who understood the complexities of sorcerer life and its toll on those like Satoru. Shoko, with her gentle demeanor and sharp intellect, listened attentively as you described Satoru's struggles since Suguru's passing.
"He's been finding it difficult to wear the Ryomen bandages," you explained softly, glancing over at Satoshi, who was absorbed in arranging the marbles into a pattern. "They remind him too much of what he had to do. So, he's been using the light-sensitive dark glasses instead."
Shoko nodded understandingly, her expression thoughtful. "It's not uncommon for Satoru’s six–eyes to develop sensitivities after intense situations, missions.” she mused, her brown eyes flickering with concern. "The emotional and physical strain can manifest in various ways. And right now, it’s truly emotional. I think you just have to be patient with him.”
You sighed, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders as you shared your worries with Shoko. "I know….but it hurts to see him suffer like this, Sho. The headaches have been growing more frequent." you admitted, your voice tinged with concern. "I'm worried about how much it's affecting him."
Shoko offered a reassuring smile."I know. But right now, you can give him some space. He’ll come around to it and realize that he needs to give himself something to stop the headaches.”
You pondered for a moment, your lips pursed in contemplation. "Do you think... there's some material that could help with his Six Eyes? Something that might alleviate the strain?" you asked Shoko, your voice carrying a mix of hope and uncertainty.
Shoko considered your question thoughtfully, her expression thoughtful as she leaned back in her chair. "It's possible," she began slowly, her gaze thoughtful. "We could explore materials that are less abrasive on his sensory abilities. Perhaps something with a softer weave or a special enchantment that filters out excessive stimuli."
Encouraged by Shoko's supportive words, you felt a renewed sense of determination. Her acknowledgment of your care for Satoru reassured you that your efforts were worthwhile.
"Thank you, Shoko," you said sincerely, feeling a sense of gratitude for her understanding and encouragement. "I'll do my best to make something that will really help him."
Shoko nodded with a reassuring smile. "Take your time, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. I'm here to help in any way I can."
With a grateful nod, you bid farewell to Shoko and headed home, your mind already racing with ideas and plans. As you walked, Satoshi's cheerful babbling filled the air, a constant source of joy and motivation. You smiled warmly, his innocent excitement lifting your spirits even higher.
Suddenly, Satoshi stopped and pointed excitedly to a shop window. "Mama, here!" he exclaimed, his eyes shining with enthusiasm as he tugged at your hand. You chuckled at his excitement, bending down to his level to see what had caught his attention.
You peered into the shop window and saw a display of colorful fabrics and various sewing supplies. Some of the fabrics were vibrant and eye-catching, while others were soft and gentle to the touch. Satoshi's small hand pointed to a bright blue fabric with tiny stars scattered across it, his excitement palpable.
"Good eye, Satoshi!" you praised him, ruffling his hair affectionately. "That's a beautiful fabric."
He grinned up at you, his excitement undiminished. "Papa will like it!"
"Yes, I think he will." you agreed with a smile, feeling a surge of determination to create something special for Satoru using the fabric Satoshi had chosen. “Good job, Satoshi!”
He grinned. “Satoshi–kun, the best!”
You looked at your son, his excitement contagious, and smiled. "You're so smart," you said, giving him a gentle pat on the head.
Flash forward to Valentine's Day. Satoru had made it a tradition to take the day off so that the two of you could celebrate together, and this year was no exception. As you stirred awake in the soft morning light filtering through the curtains, you found Satoru in the kitchen, quietly preparing breakfast. His light-sensitive dark glasses were perched on his nose, a testament to the ongoing struggle with his heightened senses.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the scent of pancakes and strawberries, filling the air with a comforting warmth. Satoru turned to greet you with a soft smile as you entered the kitchen, his eyes tender as they met yours. Despite the exhaustion and challenges you both faced, his love and dedication never faltered.
"Good morning, darling," he murmured, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. "I thought we could start the day with a special breakfast."
You couldn't help but smile back, touched by his thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Satoru," you replied, your voice filled with love and gratitude. "It smells amazing."
As you sat down together at the table, the morning sun bathed the room in a golden glow, casting a warm hue over the cozy kitchen. The soft sounds of birds chirping outside added to the tranquil atmosphere, contrasting with the usual hustle and bustle of the day.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the tantalizing scent of pancakes filled the air, creating a comforting backdrop for your conversation. Everything about today was going to be good. You just know it. It always was, when you're with Satoru.
As you sipped your coffee, the warmth spreading through you, you began discussing your plans for Valentine's Day. Satoru listened attentively, his dark glasses reflecting the soft light from the window as he nodded in response to your suggestion.
"I was thinking," you started, setting your mug down gently on the table, "we should go to the zoo with Satoshi and Megumi, and then visit Tsumiki in the hospital."
Satoru considered your proposal, his expression thoughtful yet warm. "That sounds doable," he agreed, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "And then dinner together later?"
You nodded, returning his smile. "Yes, dinner together sounds perfect," you replied softly. "It'll be a wonderful day."
He grinned warmly at your remark about the plan for the day. The anticipation of spending time together as a family and celebrating the occasion filled the room with an air of excitement and joy.
"That sounds like a grand plan," Satoru said with enthusiasm, his eyes sparkling behind his dark glasses.
You returned his grin, feeling a warmth spreading through your heart. "Speaking of something grand," you began, your voice filled with affection, "I also have a gift for you."
His curiosity piqued, Satoru raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "You didn't have to get me anything," he insisted gently.
"I wanted to," you replied softly, handing him a neatly wrapped box. "Open it."
Carefully, Satoru unwrapped the gift, his fingers moving deliberately over the wrapping paper. As he lifted the lid of the box, his eyes widened in genuine surprise and admiration. Inside lay an exquisitely crafted eye blindfold, made with intricate care and attention to detail.
"Satoru, I sewed it!" you explained, a hint of nervousness in your voice. "But Satoshi helped pick out the fabric, and Megumi tested it out. It's been blessed at the Mikoto Shrine by me. It's a family affair!"
He was speechless for a moment, his gaze fixed on the blindfold in his hands. The craftsmanship and thoughtfulness behind the gift touched him deeply. Slowly, he looked up at you, his cerulean eyes softening with deep emotion.
"You made this?" he asked, his voice filled with awe and gratitude.
You nodded, a shy smile playing on your lips as you looked up at him. "I wanted you to have something special," you admitted softly, your heart fluttering with warmth at his reaction.
"Besides, I know it's hard to use the bandages now. And I just... I want you to have something that drives away the pain and helps you with your headaches."
Satoru set the blindfold down gently, his expression softening as he pulled you into a tender embrace. His arms wrapped around you securely. He doesn't want to ever let you go. Not in his entire life.
"Thank you, darling." he murmured against your hair, his voice filled with heartfelt gratitude. "You always know how to make me feel special."
You leaned into his embrace, feeling the steady beat of his heart against yours. "You don’t have to thank me." you whispered, your voice tinged with emotion. "I love you. More than anything."
"I love you too, darling." Satoru replied softly, his words a gentle caress against your ear. His embrace tightened, as if he never wanted to let you go. “Always.”
You leaned into his embrace, your heart swelling with love for the man who meant everything to you. "Happy Valentine's Day, Satoru." you whispered, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
His embrace tightened briefly, a silent reassurance of his love and gratitude. "Happy Valentine's Day, my darling." he replied softly, his voice tinged with affection. "I love you more than words can express."
In that moment, surrounded by the warmth of your home and the love that filled the air, you knew that this Valentine's Day would be one to remember—a day where your love for each other blossomed even brighter.
You looked forward to next year’s Valentine’s day.
You wanted to have the same joy and happiness.
You prayed that you and Satoru would have that.
epilogue
The day at the zoo was perfect. You, Satoru, and Satoshi wandered through the exhibits, enjoying the beautiful weather and the excitement in Satoshi's eyes as he marveled at the animals. Satoru wore the blindfold you had made for him, and you couldn't help but think how good he looked in it. The fabric was soft and stylish, and it seemed to suit him perfectly.
As you approached the ocean exhibit, you spotted Megumi making his way towards you. He had stayed at the dorms for his lessons but had managed to follow and catch up with you. You waved at him enthusiastically.
"Megumi!" you called out, hurrying over to him.
Megumi smiled shyly and allowed you to hug him. Then he bent down to scoop up Satoshi, who squealed with delight at the sight of his older brother. "Nii-chan!"
When Megumi finally set Satoshi down, he looked up and saw Satoru standing there with open arms, a playful grin on his face. "Megumi-yannnn, aren't you going to give me a hug too?"
Megumi's cheeks turned a light shade of pink, and he tried to hide in his oversized uniform. He started laughing, his eyes crinkling with genuine amusement. "Huh!? Megumi, what's so funny?" Satoru asked, pretending to be offended.
Megumi shook his head, still chuckling, as he took a step back. "Nothing, nothing," he said, trying to stifle his laughter.
Satoru pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. "Fine, be that way," he said, but his eyes were twinkling with mischief.
You watched the exchange with a warm smile, feeling a deep sense of contentment. Your family, despite all the challenges and hardships, had found moments of joy and connection. And in those moments, you knew that everything was going to be okay. As long as you were together, it always will be.
Incomplete transcript of Nick Marini's Beacon AMA
Spoilers, typos (both mine and his), also Discord was messing up so a lot of the questions didn't load. I didn't copy every response either, mostly focused on lore
Q: Do you have any headcanons/conspiracy theories about Exandria (or more specifically) the ending of the Calamity? A: I definitely think that the Dawnfather does not like the Divergence but accepts it as necessary both for his family and for mortals. All of his domains are so hands on. I think he is much more comfortable leading by example and actually doing, as opposed to directing from behind.
Q: Choosing to play Ayden as a kid was an insane choice (in the best way possible). What drew you to that? Would you have still done it if you played a different god? A: Having Ayden be 15 was definitely a reaction to the Dawnfather’s name. I liked it both because it subverts the expectation of him as the patriarch and also I think he would have waited until the last possible moment to take a mortal incarnation, as his domains are so fundamental to the wellbeing of Exandria. He is hands on and the thought of stepping away from that is tough. Had I played a different god I would have been more around that 30 mark for sure!
Q: What was your inspiration behind making Ayden view the Dawnfather as his father instead of being the Dawnfather in disguise? A: I really liked the idea of the Dawnfather sending his hope to Exandria in the form of Ayden. Yes he is the Dawnfather, but he is not the entirety of the Dawnfather, nor has he had the time to reconcile his divinity with his mortality the way the others have. Ayden is both brand new and ever constant, the young aspect of an ancient whole. He does not have the baggage the Dawnfather has and maybe disagree’s at times with him/himself. He is not old enough to know that some things are beyond even the gods and miracles. He is the Dawnchild filled with he hope of a new day. Sun deities have often been described as being reborn each day and so there is this journey of youth to age they experience each day. Having him be the Dawnchild felt like it put him in conversation with how many sun deities have been described, as well as allowing him to literally be in conversation with himself Dawnchild to Dawnfather.
Q: Was there a confrontation between another NPC or PC that you wish you would have been able to see or gotten more time at the table? A: I thought it would have been really fun to talk with the Lawbearer herself more. As the god of agriculture I think we overlap in some interesting ways. Civilization after all stems from agriculture. We also had really different views on the way Aeor should be handled and Ayden had never seen a city before so I think that would have been my choice!
Q: what location/area in exandria would you most like to explore ? A: Whitestone would be awesome to check out! That’s my favorite tree!
Q: ? A: Oh Jeez that’s tough!. As a player watching Slitch and the Ars Elysia was so fun! Also I love rp with Bren and him screaming at me was amazing. Everyone just absolutely killed it though so its hard to choose a fave I feel like everyone had such great moments! Noshir saying “little lies are okay” was absolutely heartbreaking and I feel like he put on a masterclass of patiently choosing your moments.
Q: As mentioned in the 4SD, once you all shed your mortality there seemed to be a shifting of the Gods' views on mortals and mortality as well. What was your behind-the-scenes take on that moment and what would Ayden think about his father after the fall of Aeor? A: I think for Ayden this experience was part of growing up. Sometimes even the pure of heart or those with unassailable conviction have to realize that the world is a messy place and not everything can be truly solved, rather we are always in a constant state of trying. I think he gave it his best shot and came up short, as the Dawnfather knew would happen. But part of parenthood is sometimes letting them try and loving them as they fail. It’s important to try. I also think about how the Gods do not have an afterlife, so for them death is something they fear on a much deeper level. Ayden wants to save them, the Dawnfather knows not everyone can be saved, he wishes Ayden was right, it’s why he had to send him, but eventually the Dawnfather has to step in.
Q: If the Dawnfather had a chance to speak to Ludinus, what would he say?
A: "I am sorry that the lesson you took from the fall of Aeor was that tearing things down is the only way to solve them.
Q: During the 4 Sided Dive, Brennan mentioned how you were a player that combined the best of both mechanical & narrative elements to do really crazy and insane builds. How do you come up with these concepts, and for anyone wanting to expand in these areas what would be your advice to do so? A: I think I touch a little on this in the Adventuring Academy ep he and I did a while back. For me I feel that mechanics help inform the narrative and vice versa. The classes you choose can really tell a story. And the story you experience can really shape what classes you choose! A cool idea for a build doesn’t necessarily translate to a fun character to play and a cool character idea might be boring to actually play mechanically. I like to choose one thing I really know I want to explore and go from there. So for instance with Ayden I knew he was going to be a cleric of the Everlight and I knew the 6th level Peace Domain was a really fun mechanical ability I wanted to play with. Ayden grew very much from that foundation. Having a plan and being open to changing it is key! In our home campaign I played a knight who by the end was taking wizard classes because he realized that no matter how good a knight he was he could not teleport to a place in need, so he started taking wiz levels which I never expected and he did so even though he never got to cast teleport.
Q: What fun multi-class combos or ability interactions did you not get to show off at the table due to time limits? If you and Emily Axford shared a table would Brennan just instantly self-immolate? A: Ayden could have tanked quite a few spells with his insane spell defense and saving throws. I almost used the Divine Prowess to make a persuasion check to convince the enemy wizards to target me but I had already take so much damage from warding bond that I didn’t. If Emily Axford and I ever play in Bren’s table I want to build like twins or something who combo together to immolate him if he refuses to self-immolate
Q: ? A: I was reading a Dragon Magazine that had a 3.5 variant for Druid called Sidhe Scholar. It is basically an academic who while studying the fey accidentally draws their attention and they begin to mess with them. I loved the idea and Bren’s brother was running a low magic campaign at the time with a nation that had given up metals in an ancient pact with the fey who in turn gave up the magic to end the war between the two. The Sidhe Scholar has a animal companion who only is friendly to the druid so basically he was out studying one day and then a magical hawk wouldn’t leave him alone and he got branded a witch by the locals and had to flee the country. I want to play him more.
Q: How collaborative was the character building process for Downfall? Did any of you have overlap in gods you wanted to explore? A: TI went first it theSession 0 and pitched what would become Ayden. There wasn’t really any overlap and people had such interesting takes on the different gods that it all sort of fell into place nicely! I thought about but didn’t pitch the Changebringer, flipping a coin to decide to destroy Aeor seemed so sad. She would have likely been a rogue or bard or maybe ranger. I did pitch the Crawling King as a sort of recipient of all pain and suffering who was using this brief time of some semblance of sanity to beg the primes to restart creation because only he knew how much suffering there was in the world. He would have been maybe similar to Ayden’s build but like Zealot Barbarian subclass and no Paladin or something. Just soaking up all the damage he could. There were definitely parts of Zaharzht that were similar but I would have taken Tishar’s advice and not been a tortle!
Q: when Trist looked at Asmodeous, she saw her husband. Who would Ayden see?
A: I think that the Dawnfather sees his brother clearly as he is, tragic beauty and all. I wonder if Ayden also would have seen his true form? I don't think there is anyone outside of the divine family that Ayden would have been thinking about, so perhaps he would have seen his brother not as he truly is but rather as he wishes he could be?
Q: ? A: I don’t know! I think both Dragons were flying around and Stormlord was doing his thing. As for the other I’m sure they were standing by ready to pounce!
Q: Which parts of the Dawnfather and of Ayden’s personality came easiest to you? Which parts were the hardest? A: I will say it was kind of intimidating having my first big actual play be Critical Role and playing the Dawnfather no less! Ayden felt like he came pretty easy, he is the inner child of the Dawnfather and I think protecting your inner child is worth it. The detached nature the Dawnfather has had at times was difficult but I think it stems from the way he was forced to detach himself from Exandria.
Q: Which parts of the Dawnfather and of Ayden’s personality came easiest to you? Which parts were the hardest? A: The concept came pretty quick when I started looking at the Gods of Exandria. I just liked this unexpected view of the Dawnfather that so many thought they had pegged. I think I sort of saw him differently than I heard people talk about during my research. I spoke with Bren a few times for sure and I think he ran it by Matt but honestly Matt just trusted us all to do this which is just a testament to him and his incredible generosity with this wonderful world.
Dawn is also something that I have always had a very personal connection with. My first tattoo was of the Great Eastern Sun, which is the rising sun. I drive an VW Eos, named after the greek goddess of the Dawn. The day of our first shoot I woke up before dawn and watched the sun rise over the Santa Monica mountains as I began a new journey at Critical Role. Dawn represents new possibility or rebirth, its something I deeply appreciate and wanted to bring to the Dawnfather and myself.
Q: First off loved every moment of the Dawnchild, When designing Ayden what made you choose a softer interpretation of Pelor's personality than we've seen in previous CR content A: One of my favorite quotes is, “Don’t let your shield become a cage.” I think the Dawnfather’s experience with his concept goes a step further. He had to cage himself behind the Divine Gate in order not to cage the mortals he sought to shield. It changed him. The light of dawn is soft. He once walked among the mortals and taught them, fed them, gave them light, showed them how to tell time and change with he seasons. He was a present father who was forced to be distant. I wanted to take that journey.
Q: Huge props for your performance at the table, such a profound joy to watch you play. What do you think the Dawnfather’s biggest regret about how he “created” Ayden was, and what moment do you think he felt the most proud of Ayden? A: I appreciate that so much. It was a profound joy to play with such amazing people so I’m thankful that translated! He would have been most proud of how Ayden protected his family. Especially Trist who he was in part sent specifically to watch over. I think he regrets that he had to create him at all and especially that he, to some extent, had to sacrifice that aspect of himself and leave it in Exandria while he sequesters himself behind the divine gate.
Q: ? A: Ugh I’m so glad it wasn’t Ayden that would have shattered him but it had to be done. He has one family and he has to protect it.
Q: During 4 Sided Dive, Brennan discussed the Dawnfather after mortality and his return to divinity, to the 'harsher and sterner' image we get in modern Exandria. What was it like to experience and create that transition of a hopeful and longing God, to a more hardened God? Did you block or pre-meditate any of that or did you just go with how you felt he would have reacted in the moment? A: I for sure premeditated the setup. I really wanted to take that journey and show us a different side of the Dawnfather. I didn’t know how it would end up or what the journey would actually be but I did intentionally set up the juxtaposition. This is to my knowledge the only time we get to see the Dawnfather on this side of the Divine Gate which I think makes a big difference.
Q:? A: I wanted those wizards to target me more!!! I had absurd spell defenses. Spell rolls agains me were at disadvantage, I got advantage on saves, had 11s and 17s on all my saves, and I had resistance to spells. And AC 23. Turns out casting Warding Bond on yourself negates all that lol. But I did get a lot of my buff spells and abilities off!
Q: ? A: I love dogs! I think part of the reason Gilly the dog was in the first episode was because Ashley and I talked a lot about our pups when we had our zoom talk!
Q: You had some of the most quotable moments (like the "do not lie to me!" scene) Did you write down any ideas of what to say like some of the more profound things such as "Why must it always be like this?" or is it all improvised? A: Thank you! The only thing I’d been considering word for word was a quote from the opening line of Tycho’s song Sunrise Projector, “Civilization stems from the simple act of placing seeds and plants into the ground.” I was saving it for my talk with the Lawbearer and then she sent the Emissary instead!! When I said the line about the sun being blotted out I was thinking about my question in ep 1 where I asked if the sun was visible from the sky city. I had been thinking about how the stars weren’t visible and though that was important somehow and ended up finding it in that moment.
Q: ? A: Lovely question. I think as an actor you are always looking at what similarities and differences you have with a given character. It can be both lovely to explore something similar or exciting to delve into something so different from your own experience. In terms of rpgs I think I often play things that are of interest or in my thoughts at the time. For Downfall recently I have been thinking a lot about hope, both how important it is and how painful it can be, knowing in your head what your heart cannot yet accept. In that way I do think there was a lot of Nick in Ayden.
Q: what atmsophere did you think the dawnfather needed to have? What were your thoughts on how he carried himself and how he interacted with the world around him? A: The Dawnfather desires to be in Exandria most of all! I think he believes he knows best but also wishes to help mortals. He is very hands on so the Divine Gate is a real bummer.
Q: If the Dawnfather/Ayden had the chance/opportunity to live out a full, well lived mortal life after the events of Downfall, how do you think that ultimately would've looked like? A: I think he would have traveled extensively and mostly in rural places where he felt more comfortable, doing what he could to help others. I think he might eventually settle down and start a family. He is destined to be a father after all. He probably would have valued education in honor of Trist and found any opportunity to see her.
Q: When the Dawnfather told Asmodeus not to lie to him, what future did he envision where the gods again lived in harmony? How would such a reconciliation happen? Absolutely loved your portrayal, hugely meaningful. A: Thank you! I think the Dawnfather knows that future may not exist. “Do not lie to me” was as much a command as a plea. It doesn’t need to be like this. I don’t think reconciliation can happen while Exandria exists unfortunately which makes their love for each other all the more tragic. Ayden was the part of him that hoped it could but the Dawnfather knows it cannot be.
Q: ? A: In a way yes. He was growing up. I don’t believe that hope is only for children by any means. I think hope is powerful and necessary. I do think that some hopes are painful and that some hopes we have to grow out of in order to move forward. Ayden hoped beyond hope that he could save the mortals and reconcile them and perhaps even the gods. The Dawnfather has to shed that hope so that hope for the mortals and thus Exandria can continue and so that he can do what is necessary to further that goal.
Q: Ashley mentioned on 4-sided Dive that you guys built a lot of backstory for Ayden and Trist. Could you maybe tell us more about that? A: Ayden was found in a meteor crater by a nomadic tribe far from civilization. He taught them agriculture and was a prodigy at reading the stars, outshining their oldest druids. He was to be initiated into the tribe but his skin would not receive the sacred ink marking him as a member. Instead he was given to the charge of an elderly knight who had had some dealings with the time in the past. The knight taught him as they traveled and brought him to a school where he could learn before passing away. That school was Trist’s. He spent maybe 3-5 years living with her and her family, playing with her children and dog, helping the other children with their lessons and learning from Trist.
Q: ? A: Oh my gosh what an incredible scene that was! I think the Dawnfather would have been amused. I didn’t expect to like the Archheart as much as the Dawnfather did. I think the Angel stuff would have dampened his mood for sure though!
Q: ? A: Thank you so much! A rollercoaster it truly was! Before we shot I woke up before the dawn to watch the sun rise. Before we played I was a little nervous but Noshir wanted some help with his character build and I was so thankful to have something to distract me! I could not believe how tired I was after filming. Active listening is the name of the game and its way more of that in actual play by a mile than the traditional film or movie sets I am used to where we are stopping every few minutes. After it was all over Abubaker, Noshir, and I all just hung around while they finished the announcements, we didn’t want it to be over. After we left Bren and I had a nice little midnight snack to just catch up about the incredible experience that it was! It can definitely be hard sometimes to let go just because the experience can feel so magical. Fortunately because of my time at the Wayfinder Experience where “de-rolling” is a thing we very much talk about, so I sort of have been trained to be able to separate back to real life after delving into fantasy!
Q: How much inspiration did you draw from the relationship between Jesus and God / The Holy Trinity? A: Let me preface this by saying I have seen some questions/thoughts about this and I hope I can answer this thoughtfully and respectfully, because anytime we are dealing with something of this nature we need to be conscious of all the different beliefs that our communities may have, and lead with love. I do think we it can be discussed positively and with good intention and (no pun intended) in good faith.
I would encourage a broader view of Ayden/The Dawnfather than just this parallel, and it certainly was not my primary inspiration, though I think it is a natural association to make and is not necessarily wholly incorrect. It is simply something many (westerners especially) are most familiar with and therefore most likely to see, a natural and understandable confirmation bias. Sun deities of many pantheons have long been associated with the son and father dynamic and rebirth/renewal. Horus and Osiris of the Egyptian pantheon for instance. While my education and background makes me obviously deeply aware of the stated similarity, my hope is, that by broadening our view to include many ancient religions and sun deities we can see that there is much more to it than that, and that they are all informing and in conversation with the Ayden/Dawnfather relationship.
Q: ? A: I think Ayden’s expectation were very unrealistic.That is part of the fun of playing in a tragedy. You have to set yourself up to be emotionally devastated! Yay :’( I think though he hoped that them working together after all these centuries might make a difference. SPOILER it did not.
Q: What was up with Ayden's shield? A: It was given to him/he took it from the knight who brought Ayden from the tribe that found him to Trist’s school. It is a Spellguard Shield which is very good. Also the marking on it is this name in Ogham. Ayden kept taking it and the knight told him it wasn’t his because it didn’t have his name on it. Oops who knew this 6 year old could scratch his own name into a magical shield. Well now its his I guess? Divine children what you gonna do?
Q: When did Ayden decide or realize that it was time to use Sunburst and bring the dawn to Aeor? Had you considered using it at any point before? A: So Ayden regularly would not have had access to it. Once we unlocked Divine Magic it became available. With that surge of divine power stemming from the the wards being destroyed by S.I.L.A.H.A. I felt like there was a moment where Ayden lost much of his agency and the Dawnfather began to exert more direct control. It was very much me looking at 9th level spells and then moving downwards to see what would be a cool spell now that I had access to them.
Q: Brennan mentioned there being mood boards for this game so everyone knew the vibe, did Ayden have one and if so, what was on his? A: He didn’t have an explicit mood board but I did make a playlist. His association with he Everlight made me want to go for sort of an Quaker vibe which is why his clothing is so simple and he never directly attacks someone until the divine magic surges into him and he casts Sunburst. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2cJMThISPIUAfflOiZqi9B
Q: When speaking to Acastriel, you stated "You and I will have words". How were you feeling in that moment? … A: Very disappointed in him! Also I felt like I didn’t even need to deal with him at that moment. We will talk in my divine realm and he will be dealt with there. I felt like sort of ignoring him was honestly more devastating than giving him the time of day after that one line.
Q: If Ayden could talk to the future Exandrians who ill watch the events of Downfall, what would he say to them? A: "I tried."
Q: How does Ayden and the Dawnfather's views differ on their relationship to the other Gods? Particularly in relation to the Everlight and the Lord of the Hells? Does Ayden treat them differently then the Dawnfather would and vice versa? Also, silly side question: How close did Ayden get to punching Father Milo in the face? A: I think they are generally pretty close. I think Ayden is less likely to directly oppose the Betrayer Gods by virtue of him being sent to work with them. The Dawnfather knows better. I think both Ayden and the Dawnfather share a deep love of the Everlight and I think it was both of them talking when I spoke about her being the bravest of us. And very very close hahah, I think he sort of thought the whole priest of the Dawnfather was funny as long as he didn’t think about all he people Father Milo probably poisoned the minds of in his name.
Q: ? A: Dawn has always been important to me so maybe the Dawnfather. I think in a world where divine magic is provable I’d be much more likely to put my faith into a specific place or entity. The Platinum Dragon or the Everlight might be candidates too. I do think though that the Knowing Mistress is cool and honestly in a pantheon I’d probably shout out different gods for different things!
Q: ? A: I think there is some truth to that, though I don’t think Ayden would have been aware of it. Having someone else to care for, but who also reminded her of her real family was enough for the Dawnfather without having Ayden need to be cognizant of it. I really liked the idea of the Dawnfather being concerned with the Everlight the most because she has been so betrayed by the Lord of the Nine Hells and her followers and temples destroyed. They also share a divine realm so it just felt like he needed to look out for his sister. He also knows she is the most likely and also currently has the most potential to just decide to be mortal and forget about her divinity and the Dawnfather doesn’t want to lose her. I’d like to think Trist would have understood but it could have been a pretty powerful moment if she felt like she was being deceived by even him. That would have been heartbreaking.
Q: What rarity of magic items were you allowed to take and how many? A: We were granted 2 magic items. One very rare and one uncommon. For my uncommon I chose a cloak of resistance, a parting gift from the tribe that Ayden could not join. This upped my saves to 11s or 17s and took my AC to 23. For his very rare magic item I took a spellguard shield, inherited from the knight who brought him from the remote tribe to Trist‘s school, giving me advantage on saving throws vs spells and magical effects and inflicting disadvantages on spell effects targeting me. Combine that with resistance to spells from Aura of Warding and that’s a nasty nasty combo v wizards.
Q: You’ve mentioned going back and watching the Dawnfather’s appearances across previous campaigns, which were your favorite moments and what did you focus on from them to inform Ayden? A: I loved that he planted the Sun Tree in White Stone. I really was trying to get the big picture more so than look for moments that stood out. I did keep coming back to the fact that we never see him on the Exandrian side of the Divine Gate and that all his domains are so hands on. I think that really informed Ayden. That and the fact that he shares his divine realm with the Everlight. It just spoke to a Deity that I felt like had more depth that I saw the prevailing opinions about him recognize.
Q: ? A: The Everlight but don’t tell the others even though its pretty obvious. I think canonically least fav is the Chained Oblivion but I’m not even 100% that that is one of our siblings!
Q: ? A: yes I cried after I used sunburst because I fell prey to the allure of power!
Q: What do you think is the biggest difference between Aru the light being and Pelor the god? A: Aru was so much more! and was himself protected the Dawnfather now protects
Q: ? A: I think he knew pretty early actually his early life was in many ways much more divinely evident that his teens
Q: What were Ayden's thoughts to Asmodeus having betrayed them all? A: I belive he was lying about never loving us which is whats so sad! The fact that he betrayed us was dissapointing but unsruprising and I was mad that the Everlight got hurt again
Q: Were the gods always aware of their true selves within their avatars/were they unaware? A: I think Ayden knew from a young age but also had a lof of agency
Q: Is there abook, film, or other piece of media that has informed a lot of your storytelling or the types of stories that you are drawn to?
Q: Love the last Unicorn. Personal faves are ANimated Hobbit, Flight of Dragons, Black Cauldron
Daddy Vessel
A/N: I just had the want and need to write a cute little Vessel post. This is just how I feel he would be if his s/o had a daughter from a previous relationship. Because this man seemed like the gentlest of giants❤️ (when he isn’t being an utter gremlin towards everyone else).
TW: None at all. Just a lot of fluff going on.
(Also, basically, there really isn’t a need to write the pairings for this, but it’s a Vessel x fem!Reader one. And reader’s daughter is named Emma.)
—————————————————————
“Are you sure he’ll like it, mama?”
You looked down at your daughter to see that she was not looking at you, but at the handmade card her art teacher had them make for their fathers today at school, a deep frown on her usually cheerful face. Father’s Day was this weekend and you had never seen a more perplexed eight-year-than Emma. And she had been that way since you had picked her up from school.
Emma was your daughter from a previous relationship. Her father was never really much of a father, so when the relationship ended you felt relieved. Only you felt bad for your daughter because she would never have that father-daughter experience like you had hoped, seeing as she was three when you and your ex-boyfriend had split up. Or so you thought she would never experience it. When your daughter was four you met a man named Vessel, and it was automatic love at first sight. Vessel fell in love fast with Emma, and Emma to Vessel.
Vessel knew of Emma’s father after many of stories you had told him over the years. And yet, even if he was a sad excuse of a man that refused to be part of such a wonderful child’s life, there was a part of him that did not want to overstep any boundaries. Parenthood was a foreign thing to him and he never thought he would experience it, but it changed once the two of you became part of his world—his life.
Emma had never once called Vessel “daddy” or “dad” in the four years you two had been together, and she settled on “Vessie.” Being she was the only one allowed to call him that. Vessel never pushed for her to call him anything she was not comfortable with or wanted. She viewed him as a father figure and that was enough for him.
You smiled and crouched down so you were eye level with Emma. She looked up at you with her blue eyes. You cupped her cheeks gently in your hands and bent her head down some, and placing a kiss to her forehead. Emm took a step back some so she could look at you again. Your hands still holding her cheeks.
“He’s going to love it, baby,” you reassured her as you let her cheeks go. You still smiled at her. “He loves anything you make him.”
“But…what if he doesn’t love this one this time?” Emma looked at the card on her hands again. “What…what if it makes him leave like my actual daddy did?”
“Emma, look at me.” She slowly looks at you again. And it pained you to see the worry and fear on your daughter’s face. You reached out and tucked a loose strain of black hair behind her ear. “Vessel will never leave you like that, okay? Mama can promise you that. And whatever you wrote in that card, he is going to love it like any other thing you’ve ever made him. Maybe he’ll even love this more than the four leaf clover drawing you made him for when he goes on the road.”
Emma giggled at that. “I don’t think so. He got it tattooed on him, mama, remember?”
How could you forget?
Emma had randomly drawn—more like colored—a picture of a four leaf clover one weekend. She was about five or six at the time and had been coloring and drawing that whole morning. And she had randomly crawled up into Vessel’s lap as the two of you sat cuddled up on the couch, and held the picture up to him with a wide smile on her chubby cheeked face. Vessel took it and settled Emma to rest comfortably against his chest and he looked at it, a smile on his face as well.
“What is this, my sweet girl?” He asked her. Of course, Vessel knew it was a four leaf clover but how he enjoyed allowing Emma to become excited explaining things. “You colored me a picture, did you?”
Emma nodded her head. “I did, Vessie!” She smiled bigger of that was even possible. She pointed a little finger at the picture. “It’s a four leaf clover. It gives you good luck!”
Vessel hummed in amusement. “Does it now, Bug?”
Emma giggled, “Yes! And it’ll give you good luck when you go do shows.”
“Well, thank you, Emma.” Vessel kissed the top of her head and Emma snuggled more into him. He looked at the picture some more. “I’m going to take this with me everywhere I go.”
And did that man mean that literally. Because that same day he had left for a few hours to the studio to run a few things over with II, III and IV. And when he came back that might, Emma had gone to bed by then, he showed you where he had gotten the clover tattooed on his bicep. He said even if no one else but a few knew it was there he was fine with it, because he knew it was there and it meant everything to him.
Vessel had also gotten it on his upper bicep because the jacket he wore on stage would cover it, and he would not have to cover it with the black paint he dawned himself in for each performance.
“Oh, right,” You smiled, “I forgot. Silly me.”
Emma giggled once more before you raised to full height again. You took her free hand in yours again and the two of you walked to the door of your flat. It was Vessel’s before you two had gotten together, but after a few months of dating, and several mentions and negotiations, he had you and Emma moved in.
You opened the door and allowed Emma to go in first, you closed the door as you entered. You both removed your shoes at the door and placed them on the tiny bench. The sound of pots and pans could be heard from the kitchen and you smiled. You had told Vessel you would handle dinner tonight and not to worry about it, you did not mind, only for him to firmly state he would since you had to run a few errands after work before picking Emma up.
When Vessel was home, you tried to allow him to relax much as you could. And you also tried to spend as much time with him as you could. But Vessel always had a mind of his own. Anything he thought he could help out with, no matter how tired he was, or how much his body craved just to melt into the couch, he was up doing it. Whether it was helping clean, laundry, helping Emma with her homework, helping you relax in the many various ways he knew how (wink, wink, wink) and like now, where you had told him not to worry, he is in the kitchen cooking.
Now, you would never complain about his help, you adored that he bent over backwards for you and Emma, the same as you did for the both of them, but sometimes you really wish he would just allow himself to relax.
“We’re home, baby,” You announced as you and Emma walked into the kitchen. Vessel stood by the stove and you allowed your eyes to scan over him. He was shirtless and wearing a pair of sweatpants, which hung a little low on his hips, barefoot and there was a hand towel thrown over his left shoulder. You let Emma’s hand go so you could fold your arms over your chest. “I thought I told you not to worry about dinner?”
“And I told you that I would handle it,” Vessel replied as he turned to look at you. He placed the hand towel on the counter before walking over to you and your daughter. He placed his large hands on your hips and pulled you to him gently, you unfolded your arms and wrapped them around his neck. Vessel brushed his nose against yours before giving you a sweet kid on your lips. The two of you kept the kiss going, sweet and slow, almost forgetting where you two were, until a small blegh from Emma broke you two apart. Vessel chuckled before turning his attention towards the small girl. He smiled, “Hey, my sweet Bug, how was school?”
“It was fine,” Emma answered him. She reached her hand that held her handmade card behind her back, and put her other one behind her back as well. She had hoped Vessel had seen it before she did it. You noticed but didn’t say anything. Emma would show him at her own time.
“Learn anything new?” Vessel asked as he ruffled Emma’s hair, causing a laugh and a protest from the small girl.
Emma shrugged. “I learned I still don’t like math and we learned how volcanoes are made and how they work.”
“Well isn’t that something!” Vessel leaned down and kissed the top of Emma’s head before turning to walk back to the stove. “You two go get settled and I’ll finish dinner.”
You and Emma both went ahead and did your normally nightly routine. Before you two bathed, you helped Emma with what homework she did bring home. You were silently happy it was not a lot. After that, Emma showered and then you showered. And by the time you had finished with your shower, Vessel was done with dinner.
All three of you sat together at the kitchen table, eating like the tiny family you were. All revealing what your days were like and some of the highlights of it. For you, a coworker had surprised everyone with coffee and scones this morning, for Emma, her and her best friend Malachi had managed to climb all the way to the top of the slide at recess(it was a triumph for the two eight year olds but you had to talk with her teacher about that) and finally for Vessel, the highlight of his day came from making III eat crow while playing against him. Something about III had been gloating he for a while how he beats all of them in this one game, and Vessel took up the challenge and beat him in under a few minutes. You rolled your eyes but laughed and shook your head. You knew your boyfriend well enough at this point that he would not pass up any opportunity to rub it in III’s face.
After dinner, you and Vessel cleaned up the kitchen and both tackled the dishes. Emma had offered to help, but Vessel told her it was okay, and the small girl had went to her room. Once the kitchen was cleaned, you and Vessel had retired to the living room and both sat snuggled up on the couch, a movie playing on the television as you two relaxed together for the night.
The both of you heard Emma’s door to her bedroom opened, followed by slow shuffling feet. Soon the small figure of your daughter came into view.
“What’s up, Bug?” Vessel asked her. “Everything okay?”
Emma nodded her head and said nothing. She held out the handmade card towards him and Vessel took it from her gently. Emma sighed before speaking, “We made Father’s Day cards in art today.”
Vessel looked at the card in his hands before looking over at you. You smiled softly and nodded your head. Vessel smiled back and then turned to look at Emma. “Come here, Bug.”
Emma had stated many times she was too big to sit in his lap anymore, claiming she was a big kid now and big kids don’t sit in their parents laps. But, on certain days, like when she was sick or something was bothering her she took that statement back and sat in either your lap or Vessel’s, needing that familiar comfort.
A warm smile spread across your face as you watched Emma crawl into Vessel’s lap and watched as she snuggled against him. And Vessel, on instinct, settling her so she could sit and lay against him comfortably.
Vessel looked at the card in his hands, seeing how Emma used her hands to draw handprints on the sky blue construction paper. And in a glittery font, her small handwriting wrote: “Happy Father’s Day!”
“Mrs. Cunningham helped me find a little saying,” Emma informed Vessel as he started opening the card. Inside, Emma had drawn her hands on both sides of the folded paper. And written on one side in her handwriting was the saying, and a smile spread on Vessel’s face reading it. The card read:
My Vessel’s Hands
My Vessel’s hand are strong
And they’re big and they’re tough.
But when I need help
They’re gentle enough.
My Vessel’s hands can teach me
To work and give.
And by their example
I’ll learn how to live.
Right now my hands are small
And learning good from bad.
Some day I hope my hands
Will be just like my Vessel’s hands!
And underneath it all, a red and pink heart was there, and inside of it was something that made Vessel’s heart swell and his eyes tear up. In Emma’s handwriting read:
I love you, Daddy Vessel!
“Do you like it?” Emma asked after a few minutes. She was playing with her fingers and you could tell she was nervous. Vessel could tell as well.
Vessel placed the card on the lamp table beside the couch, and wrapped his arms around Emma, hugging her tightly to him. You watched as he took his thumb and pointer finger and he rubbed his eyes with them, wiping away the evidence of the tears that threatened to spill out. He kissed the top of her head before lifting her head up and kissing her forehead.
"I love it," Vessel told her softly. "I love it so much, my sweet girl."
Emma smiled big before wrapping her tiny arms around Vessel's neck. Vessel in turn hugged her tightly to him. And you smiled, resting one of her cheeks into your hand as you watched the two loves of your life. It made your eyes water with happy tears and made your heart swell with so much love.
The three of you sat on the couch together watching the movie, Emma still snuggled into Vessel's chest as you were snuggled into his side. And after a while, both Emma and Vessel had dozed off to sleep. His head was tilted back as his arms still held Emma protectively, and Emma was still snuggled into his chest. You smiled at them and carefully got up from the couch, wrapping them both in the throw blanket you were just wrapped up in the best you could. You placed soft kisses to both Emma and Vessel's cheeks before making your ways to the stairs, heading to yours and Vessel's shared bedroom.
You were not going to wake them, you knew at some point Vessel would and he would lay Emma down in her own room before making his way to bed with you, but for now you were going to let them be. Emma snuggled up to Vessel and Vessel holding her to him.
The image of the father-daughter relationship you thought would never happen for your daughter, playing out in front of you as you watched your daughter and boyfriend slumber. You shook your head with a smile.
"Goodnight, my loves," You spoke softly before turning the living room light off, only leaving the television as the light source, as you made your way up the stairs for the night, leaving Emma and her Daddy Vessel to their peaceful state.
So, this was not my best, but I really just wanted to write something cute. And I haven't really written stuff in a while. This was just to get the itch off. But, um, yeah. Bye bye now!
Hi Id like to request some Head cannons on what it’s like to raise a child with Mcd!garroth as just a regular villager he fell in love with( I say that cause every Mcd!garroth x reader they make her a guard and I'm not really looking for dat. ) but I hope this request is okay I'm mostly thinking of a wholesome vibe.
DOING OUR BEST
pairing : mcd garroth x gn reader synopsis : headcanons on how you and your husband, garroth, would raise a child together! tags : parenthood, great-with-kids garroth, romance, marriage, fluff a/n : this was so fun to write out! i also kept the baby's gender vague so you can interpret it yourself! i just love the idea of garroth as a parent, so i hope you enjoy!
MASTERLIST
✧.* Garroth is a very gentle man, raised carefully by his mother, so when the two of you finally laid your eyes on your baby? He couldn't hold in his excitement. The man was giddy with joy; carefully rocking the baby back and forth in his arms while cooing at them.
✧.* He's very playful with your child and always makes sure to treat them with patience! He knows how it feels to have lots of pressure on oneself, so he makes sure to let the child live freely!
✧.* He's very adamant about helping out with the baby often, as every good father should. During the night when you're so very exhausted after a long day's work, he makes sure to get up and help the baby whenever they wake up. He knows how much stress you've been under watching over them during the day, and makes sure to do his part without any arguing!
✧.* When your child took their first steps, Garroth was ecstatic! He would always brag about his kid to the rest of the guards, saying how strong and fast they were growing! He always comes home with a smile on his face, happy to see the two of you after a long day of patrol!
✧.* As your child grows, so does his heart. He makes sure to always have time with the two of you outside his guard hours. He always makes sure to spend enough time with both of you so that you're never lonely!
✧.* A goodnight kiss to both the lights in his life is practically mandatory. He always make sure to tuck the little one in with a kiss on the forehead, along with giving you a piece of his love as well. Of course, even with a child, the love the two of you share has not dwindled in the slightest!
✧.* Whenever your little bundle of joy gets a nightmare, they run over to your room to cundle! And Garroth? Well, of course he wraps his arms around the both of you, holding you close! He whispers soft words saying, "everything's okay", and "i love you both more than the world could imagine".
✧.* When he plays with your child, he really gets into the zone. Whether it's playing as a bunch of monsters, witches, or even guards, Garroth puts his all into the role. The man has a knack for acting!
✧.* It isn't until years later, your child being about five or six, that Garroth suggests having another kid. The two of you are laying in bed, your hands intertwined as he suggests this. Whether it is having your own or adopting, the thought really could not be more enticing.
The man was made to be a father, after all.
First Kiss (Special Ending)
A strollonso AU where 18 year old rookie Lance Stroll falls helplessly in love with the notoriously mean world champion. (4.4k words, fluffy ver) [@v3lnys @biancathecool] {This is just a mix of different moments, i'm scared to let them go}
last part - masterlist - it's over ☹️
"I want a baby" A tipsy Lance muttered, face barely illuminated in their shared hotel room.
"What?" Fernando laughed, unsure what Lance was talking about, he never made much sense when he was drunk.
"A baby, Nano." Lance frowned, eyebrows furrowing at the sound of the Spaniard laughing
"You want a baby? Lancito you are a baby." The older man said, sitting down next to Lance
"Do you not want a baby with me?" His voice cracked, eyes welling with tears as he sat on the edge of their bed.
"Ay, Mi sol. I do, I do want a baby with you." Fernando backtracked, moving his hand to brush the Canadians hair from his face "Let's sleep before we get a baby, okay?"
Lance nodded and before Fernando knew it the taller boy was curled up and asleep under the duvet.
The sun streamed through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. Lance stirred, groaning slightly as he rubbed his eyes, the events of the previous night slowly coming back to him. Fernando was already awake, sitting in an armchair by the window, a cup of coffee in hand and a knowing smile on his face.
"Good morning, mi vida," Fernando greeted softly.
Lance sat up, blinking away the remnants of sleep. "Morning, Nando."
Fernando watched him carefully. "You remember what you said last night?"
Lance's cheeks flushed. "Sort of. I said a lot of things."
"You said you wanted a baby," Fernando prompted, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Lance's eyes widened as he recalled his drunken confession. "I meant it, you know," he said earnestly, his voice steadier now. "I really want us to have a baby."
Fernando's expression softened. "I know you did. And I want that too."
The weeks that followed were filled with research and conversations, the initial idea turning into a plan, el plan. By December, Lance and Fernando had finalized the adoption process, ready to welcome a newborn into their lives.
On December 21st, they found themselves in Bulgaria, meeting their son for the first time. The tiny baby was swaddled in a soft blanket, his dark eyes wide and curious. Lance’s heart swelled as he held the baby close, Fernando at his side, both of them marveling at the little life that had become theirs.
"Look at him, Nikola Stroll-Diaz," Fernando whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Lance gently touched the baby's cheek. "He's perfect," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Back in their home, the nursery was ready, filled with soft toys and a crib waiting for Nikola. The transition to parenthood was an adjustment for both men, balancing their careers and new responsibilities, but the joy they felt was undeniable.
In the early hours of the morning, Lance would often be found rocking Nikola to sleep, the baby nestled against his chest. Fernando would join them, wrapping an arm around Lance, their little family complete.
One evening, as they sat together on the couch, Nikola asleep in his crib, Lance turned to Fernando. "You know, when I said I wanted a baby, I never imagined it would feel like this."
Fernando smiled, pressing a kiss to Lance's temple. "It's better than anything I could have imagined."
Their journey had been unexpected, but as they watched their son grow, both men knew they wouldn't trade it for the world. Lance and Fernando had found something more precious than any championship title, they had found family.
The house was quiet, except for the soft coos of Nikola, who was nestled comfortably in Lance's arms. The snow outside created a serene backdrop, the fireplace casting a warm glow inside the cozy living room. Fernando entered, his expression thoughtful, as he sat down beside Lance on the couch.
"Lancito, there's something important I need to talk to you about," Fernando began, his voice steady but serious.
Lance shifted slightly, adjusting Nikola in his arms, the Spaniards tone worrying him. "Hm?"
Fernando took a deep breath, his eyes meeting Lance's. "I've decided to leave Renault."
Lance's eyes widened in surprise. "You're leaving Renault? What happened?"
Fernando nodded, understanding Lance's reaction. "But I feel like I need a new challenge, something that will push me further."
"Nando, we have a baby now, is that not new enough?" He joked before his curiosity deepened. "So, where are you going?"
A small smile tugged at Fernando's lips. "McLaren."
Lance's surprise turned into a smile. "McLaren? Do you know who your teammate's gonna be?"
Fernando nodded, his excitement evident. "Lewis Hamilton, I'm pretty sure you guys were in F3 together"
Lance nodded before looking down at Nikola, who was now dozing peacefully in his arms, and then back at Fernando. "I’m proud of you, Nando. I know you're gonna do great."
As the podium ceremony began in Malaysia, Lance made his way closer to the stage, navigating through the throng of fans and team members. Fernando stood tall on the top step, his face beaming with triumph as the Spanish national anthem played. He glanced down, his eyes finding Lance and Nikola in the crowd, his smile widening even further.
After receiving his trophy and the customary champagne spray, Fernando looked back at his family, his expression a mix of joy and love. Lance waved, Nikola’s tiny hand mimicking the motion with Lance’s help.
Fernando couldn’t resist. As soon as he could he made his way towards the two the crowd parted, allowing the man to reach his family. He took Nikola into his arms, pressing a kiss to the baby’s forehead before leaning in to kiss Lance.
The cameras on them and shocked expressions from people in the crowd meant nothing when he had Nikola and Lance in his arms.
Lewis was one of the first to voice his support after the two publically announced their relationship. In the next race weekend, he wore a "Love is Love" shirt during media day, making a small yet powerful statement. "We’re all part of this family," he said in interviews. "Fernando and Lance are showing incredible bravery, and it’s our duty to support them."
Kimi also showed his support. He was seen wearing a rainbow wristband during the pre-race drivers' parade, a subtle yet significant gesture. When asked about it, he simply said, "It is no different than me and Jenni."
Nico, Felipe, and Jenson joined the movement, each wearing "Love is Love" shirts during various race weekends. Their actions spoke volumes, showing unity within the paddock. Nico, in particular, used his platform to speak out against the negative reactions. "This sport should be inclusive and welcoming to everyone, both black and gay drivers."
Giancarlo and David added their voices, emphasizing the importance of acceptance in such a high-profile sport. David, during a television broadcast, said, "My past rivalries with Lance has nothing to do with how I feel. Their love and commitment to their family is something to be celebrated, not condemned."
In private, the support from fellow drivers meant the world to Fernando and Lance. It reinforced their belief that they had made the right decision by coming out, not just for themselves but for the many others who might be struggling in silence.
Nikola, still blissfully unaware, continued to bring joy to their lives. The paddock began to embrace him too, with drivers often stopping by to say hello and spend a few moments with the bright-eyed baby.
After the podium celebrations and media commitments after the European GP, the two returned to their hotel suite, where Nikola was waiting with his mémé. As they entered, still riding the high of their dual podium finishes, they found Nikola playing on a soft blanket spread out on the floor.
"Hey, mi sol," Lance greeted, scooping Nikola up into his arms, having made sure to wash off the champagne before he returned. "Did you miss us?"
Nikola’s eyes lit up at the sight of his fathers, and he reached out towards Fernando, who joined them, pressing a kiss to Nikola’s forehead. “Today was a good day,” Fernando said, his voice filled with contentment.
Lance gently bounced Nikola in his arms, Fernando sticking his tongue out at the baby. Suddenly, Nikola let out a high-pitched giggle, his eyes sparkling with delight. Both Lance and Fernando froze, their eyes widening in surprise.
“Joder. Did he just laugh?” Fernando asked, a broad smile spreading across his face.
Lance nodded, his own grin matching Fernando’s. “Oh my god!"
They took turns making silly faces and noises, their smiles growing with each giggle that escaped Nikola’s lips. The room filled with the sound of his infectious laughter.
“Look at him, Nando,” Lance said, his voice choked with emotion. “He’s so happy.”
After the season had concluded, Lance, Fernando, and Nikola retreated to their home in Dubai for a well-deserved break and to celebrate Lance's 20th birthday.
Fernando had woken up early, setting about preparing a special birthday breakfast while Lance and Nikola slept peacefully. Lance awoke to the delightful scent and the distant sounds of clinking plates. Rubbing his eyes, he smiled as he heard Nikola’s excited babbling from his crib. He turned to see Fernando entering their bedroom, a tray with breakfast treats in hand.
“Happy birthday, mi sol,” Fernando greeted warmly, quick to peck his boyfriends lips.
Lance’s smile widened. “Thank you, Nando. This looks amazing.”
Just then, Nikola’s babbling escalated, and they saw him standing in his crib, eager to be let out.
“Looks like someone is ready to join us,” Fernando smiled, setting the tray down and lifting Nikola out of his crib. The baby giggled, reaching out for Lance.
Lance gently scooped Nikola into his arms, planting a kiss on his chubby cheek. “Good morning, sweet boy,” he cooed, eliciting more giggles from Nikola.
Years passed in a flash, Nikola now 2 and Fernando back with renault. He took Lance outside, Nikola not far away on a blanket over the grass, distracted with toys.
"Lance," Fernando began, his voice filled with emotion as he looked deeply into Lance’s eyes, "from the moment we met, you’ve brought light and joy into my life. You’ve been my boyfriend, my best friend, and the love of my life."
He paused, his heart racing with anticipation. "Today, I want to ask you something. Will you marry me?"
Fernando reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, opening it to reveal a stunning ring nestled inside. "I promise to cherish you, to support you, and to love you with all that I am, for all the days of our lives. Lance Stroll, will you do me the honor of becoming my husband?"
He held his breath, waiting for Lance’s response, his heart overflowing with love and hope for their future together.
Touched by the sentiment, Lance leaned over to kiss Fernando, forgetting to say yes as his emotions swallowed him. “I love it. Thank you,” he murmured, his heart full.
"Is that a yes?" Fernando whispered as the kiss broke
"Yes" He nodded eagerly, vision blurred with tears as Fernando put the ring on his finger
In 2010, they finally got married. The venue they chose was a picturesque estate in Asturias, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush gardens, offering a serene backdrop for their special day.
The morning of the wedding dawned with clear skies and a gentle breeze, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration. Lance and Fernando, surrounded by their closest friends, family, and colleagues, prepared for the ceremony with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation.
Lance looked gorgeous in a tailored suit, his expression a mix of joy and anxiety as he awaited the moment to see Fernando. Fernando, radiant in a sleek tuxedo, exuded confidence and happiness as he made his final preparations. Their son Nikola, now a lively three-year-old, played happily with his cousins and friends, adding a warm energy to the pre-wedding festivities.
As the ceremony began, guests gathered in an intimate garden adorned with floral arrangements and soft candlelight. Lance and Fernando stood side by side under an elegant arch, exchanging heartfelt vows that they had written themselves. Their promises to support and cherish each other resonated deeply, accompanied by the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft murmur of loved ones’ affirmations.
Nikola, the ring bearer, toddled down the aisle with a mischievous grin, holding the rings in his tiny hands, eliciting laughter and applause from the guests. Lance and Fernando beamed with pride as they watched their son play such an important role in their union.
The ceremony was followed by a joyful reception, where guests enjoyed delicious cuisine and danced under the starlit sky. The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and moments of pure happiness as Lance and Fernando celebrated their love and the journey they had embarked upon together.
Among the guests were many of their fellow Formula 1 drivers, who had become not just colleagues but close friends. Giancarlo, Nico, Sebastian, and others raised glasses in a heartfelt toast to Lance and Fernando, expressing their support and admiration.
As the night drew to a close, Lance and Fernando stole away for a quiet moment together, gazing at the stars and reflecting on the significance of their wedding day. “I never imagined I could be this happy,” Lance whispered, his hand intertwined with Fernando’s.
Fernando pulled him close, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. “Today was perfect.”
In 2016, Nikola experienced his first karting race. The venue was a local karting track in Montreal, the same one Lance had raced at dozens of times before.
Nikola, almost ten years old, approached the race with a mix of excitement and curiosity. He had shown a natural aptitude for driving even at his young age, often mimicking his Papas movements on their simulator at home.
Nikola, dressed in his racing suit labeled "Stroll-Diaz" at his hip, looked tiny but determined as he stood next to his kart.
When the green flag dropped, Nikola sped off, barely visible above the kart’s steering wheel. He maneuvered through the twists and turns of the track with surprising skill, his concentration evident even under his helmet. Lap after lap, he pushed himself, gaining confidence with each corner.
To everyone’s surprise and delight, Nikola crossed the finish line first, claiming victory in his debut race. The cheers of his family and the proud smiles of Lance and Fernando echoed across the track. Nikola, his face flushed with excitement, couldn’t believe he had won.
"I won! Dad, Papa, I did it!" Nikola exclaimed, his eyes wide with astonishment as he removed his helmet.
Lance and Fernando exchanged amused glances. "You did great, sweet boy," Lance said, ruffling Nikola’s hair gently. "You ready for the next five?."
Nikola’s eyes widened, having not realized there was more. "What?"
Lance and Fernando had noticed Nikola had been proudly telling his friends at school that he was Spanish and Canadian, just like his dad and papa. While they appreciated his admiration and identification with them, they also wanted him to understand and embrace the fact that he's Bulgarian.
"Nik, can we talk to you about something important?" Lance began, his voice gentle but firm. Nikola nodded, curiosity evident in his eyes as he sat between his fathers on the couch.
"We love that you want to be like us, niño," Fernando chimed in, placing a reassuring hand on Nikola's shoulder. "But we also want you to know who you are."
Nikola furrowed his brows slightly, he was well aware that he was adopted but he didn't understand where this was going. "I'm Nikola Stroll-Diaz?"
Lance nodded, leaning in to explain. "You are, but you're also Bulgarian."
"We want you to feel proud of all the places that are a part of you," Fernando added, his voice warm with encouragement. "Bulgaria's where you were born, and it will always be a part of you, no matter what me and Dad are."
Nikola pondered this for a moment, processing the new information. "So, I'm Spanish, Canadian, and Bulgarian?" he asked tentatively.
"Yeah," Lance replied with a smile. "You're a little bit of everything, and that's what makes you special."
As Nikola grew older and more involved in karting, his connection to his Bulgarian heritage deepened, both Lance and Fernando trying their best at learning and teaching him the language and culture.
At thirteen years old, he decided to compete in the WSK Open Cup, a significant step in his racing career. Determined to honor his Bulgarian roots, Nikola made a deliberate choice to race under the Bulgarian flag.
Nikola's dedication to representing Bulgaria on the international karting stage earned him a nickname that resonated deeply within the racing community: the Bulgarian Lion. He wore the name with pride. So much so that on his sixteenth birthday Lance finally agreed for him to get the words tattooed.
During the races, Nikola showcased impressive skill and maturity beyond his years. His speed and strategic racing maneuvers caught the attention of seasoned competitors and racing enthusiasts. Off the track, journalists and fans alike praised him not only for his talent but also for his commitment to honoring his Bulgarian identity.
Lance and Fernando watched with pride as their son embraced this new chapter in his racing journey. They supported him wholeheartedly, attending races, offering guidance, and celebrating his achievements both on and off the track.
As the season progressed, the nickname "the Bulgarian Lion" became synonymous with Nikola's racing persona, making waving the Bulgarian flag after winning the championship a thousand times more meaningful.
As they prepared for the 24-hour Endurance race in Dubai 2021, the atmosphere in the team garage was electric with anticipation. Nikola, suited up and ready for his stint behind the wheel, exchanged a nod with Fernando, who was overseeing the final preparations with a focused intensity.
"You've got this, Nik," Fernando said, his voice filled with confidence as he checked the telemetry readings. "Remember to stay focused and keep your lines clean. We're counting on you."
Nikola nodded, adjusting his gloves with a determined expression. "I got it, Papa," he replied, his voice steady despite the nerves bubbling beneath the surface. "I'll make you proud."
Lance stood nearby, a proud smile lighting up his face as he watched father and son exchange encouraging words. "You've trained hard for this, sweet boy," Lance chimed in, patting Nikola's shoulder reassuringly. "Trust yourself."
Nikola glanced at his father, a mix of excitement and gratitude in his eyes. "Thanks, Dad."
Fernando stepped closer, placing a hand on Nikola's helmet with a smile. "Now go out there and show them what you're made of."
With a nod, Nikola slipped into the driver's seat, the engine roaring to life beneath him. As he rolled out onto the track, Lance and Fernando exchanged a proud glance, knowing their son was ready for the challenge ahead. Throughout the grueling hours of the race, they monitored his progress, offering encouragement over the team radio and celebrating each successful stint.
When Nikola brought the car back into the pits after a particularly intense night stint, Fernando was there to greet him with a firm handshake and a heartfelt embrace. "You did it, hijo," Fernando said, his voice thick with emotion. "You drove like a champion out there."
Nikola beamed, adrenaline still coursing through his veins. "Thanks, Papa," he replied breathlessly.
Lance joined them, wrapping his arms around both Fernando and Nikola in a tight hug. "We knew you could do it," he said proudly, his voice tinged with emotion. "You've made us so proud, Nik."
Fernando and Lance were enjoying a rare moment of downtime in the living room of their home in Dubai, the hum of the Formula 1 season momentarily distant. Nikola, had been spending a lot of time on his phone lately, having just gotten into his first Serious relationship.
Fernando opened twitter and was greeted by Nikola’s face, him and one of his friends in theid fireproofs wearing chains with a song playing on the background Fernando couldn’t help but burst into laughter, the video catching him off guard.
Lance, sitting next to him, leaned over to see what was so funny. His amusement quickly turned into concern. “Fernando, we need to talk to him about this,” Lance said, his tone serious. “Our image and his are important. We have to be responsible on the internet. He's not just a teenager, he's our son.”
Fernando, still laughing, shook his head. “Come on, Lancito. He’s just having some fun. Let him enjoy himself. Besides, the fans aren't taking it seriously.”
Lance frowned, clearly not convinced. “It’s not just about fun, Fernando. What he posts online reflects on all of us. We can’t just ignore how things can be perceived. We need to teach him about maintaining a good image.”
Fernando put his arm around Lance, trying to ease his worry. “Nik’s a smart kid. He knows where to draw the line. And honestly, it’s good for him to have some fun, racings been stressing him out. We can guide him, but we also have to let him be himself.”
Lance sighed, nodding slowly. “I know you’re right, but I still think we should talk to him. Just to make sure he understands the balance between having fun and being responsible.”
“Of course,” Fernando agreed, still smiling. "He’s growing up, people talking about him is gonna do more than us talking to him"
In 2025, Nikola joined Prema in F2, taking another significant step towards his dream of racing in Formula 1 as his Dad had around his age. His rookie season was challenging, filled with ups and downs, but Nikola's talent and resilience shone through. He secured multiple podium finishes, earning respect and admiration from his peers and racing fans.
One particularly memorable race took place at the Spa. Nikola started from the back of the grid due to a technical issue during qualifying. Undeterred, he drove with remarkable skill and tenacity, overtaking car after car. By the final lap, he was in third place, chasing down the leaders. With a daring move at the last corner, he secured second place, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
After the race, Lance and Fernando were there to greet him, their pride evident in their expressions. "That was incredible, Nik," Lance said, his voice filled with awe.
Fernando nodded, his eyes shining with admiration. "You've got the heart of a champion, hijo."
Nikola smiled, his exhaustion replaced by pure exhilaration. "I learned from the best."
As the years went by, Nikola's journey in motorsport continued to inspire many. He remained grounded (somewhat, he also remained aware of his advantages both from family and his good looks), always remembering the lessons his parents had taught him about love, resilience, and the importance of embracing one's identity. His success was not just measured by trophies and titles but by the impact he had on the sport and the legacy of acceptance and inclusion he helped foster.
In 2028, as Nikola finished the last race of his first season in Formula 1, placing 3rd in the championship, he stood on the same podium where his Dad and his Papa had once celebrated countless victories. The echoes of the roaring crowd filled his ears, a blend of cheers and applause that seemed to merge the past and present. The sun set behind the grandstands, casting a golden glow over the circuit, making the moment feel almost surreal.
Nikola’s heart raced, not just from the adrenaline of the competition but from the overwhelming pride and joy coursing through him. He glanced down at the crowd where Lance and Fernando watched with beaming smiles. Their eyes glistened with pride and love, their expressions reflecting the countless years of guidance, support, and encouragement they had given him.
Lance, ever the serious and composed figure, had tears welling up in his eyes. He remembered the many conversations they had about anything and everything, about the hard work and dedication it took to succeed in such a demanding sport. He had always been the one to emphasize responsibility, ensuring Nikola understood the weight of the family legacy he carried. Watching his son achieve this milestone was a testament to their shared efforts and dreams.
Fernando, standing beside Lance, couldn't contain his wide grin. He had always believed in letting Nikola find his own path, balancing hard work with joy and laughter. Fernando’s laughter had often filled their home, rubbing off on the other two in the house, a reminder that passion and fun were essential ingredients for success. Seeing Nikola on the podium, Fernando saw the perfect blend of their teachings. A young man who was as dedicated as he was joyful.
As Nikola raised the trophy high, he felt the weight of his family's legacy in his hands. The crowd’s cheers grew louder, a symphony of support and admiration. He could see flashes of both his fathers' victories in the eyes of the fans, a reminder of the history that had shaped him. But more than anything, Nikola felt the unbreakable bond of his family, a constant source of strength and motivation.
The journey to this moment had been filled with challenges, triumphs, and lessons. Nikola remembered the early mornings at the karting track, the long nights spent discussing strategies, and the countless pieces of advice from both Lance and Fernando. Every step of the way, they had been there, pushing him to be his best while reminding him to enjoy the ride.
Standing on that podium, Nikola knew that no matter where his racing career took him, the support of his family would always be his greatest strength. The future was bright and full of possibilities, but the foundation built by his Papa and Dad would always guide him. As the national anthem played then the champagne was sprayed, Nikola looked towards the crowd, locking eyes with Lance and Fernando. They nodded, a silent promise of unwavering support and love.
In that moment, Nikola understood that his victories were theirs as well, a culmination of shared dreams and relentless dedication. He stepped down from the podium with a heart full of gratitude, ready to embrace whatever came next, knowing he would never walk the path alone.
Parenthood-Maki, Mai, Nobara, and Miwa X Male Himbo Reader Pt.2
@exolocke : Hey I saw ur Jujutsu Kaisen women with Himbo reader, and I was curious if that could get a part two for when the relationship is more developed and more life long topics are brought up in it, stuff like the topic of kids, or other things that come up in a long term relationship, I didn’t see ur stance on NSFW topics so I totally understand if that’s not something included if it’s out of ur comfort zone.
Anyway thanks for taking time to read this and have a nice day 😊
(thank you for the request! I’m perfectly fine with NSFW though I will admit I’m not all that good at it. Originally this was going to be mostly NSFW but then the writing goblin in my head kind of just… took the request idea and ran with it in a different direction.)
But enough of that, YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND!
Warnings: Light Angst, Suggestive Content, Mentions Of Violence
Words: 1,693
Maki
You and Maki have been together for years.
There were of course highs and lows as with any relationship.
But the both of you moved past them with a bit of hard headed determination and a lot of the two of you being the two of you.
And this of course led to the inevitable that everyone could see from a mile away except you two.
Marriage, the merging of the last of the Zenin clan and your own family.
It was something that neither of you ever expected to happen while everyone else had money on how long it would take before one of you popped the question.
Of course Gojo won that bet, even from beyond the grave, but he’s not important right now.
So now the two of you are married.
And the both of you were being very, very, very stiff around one another.
It was worse than when the both of you started dating.
All because the both of you had a question they wanted to ask the other.
A question that sat between the both of you like a loaded gun.
A question that you were the first to ask.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“Maki…” You began to say before trailing off while the both of you lazed about on a slaw day while the rain was beating against the building.
“Yeah?” Maki tentatively asked, already knowing the question about to be asked and still not knowing how she would answer it.
“What’s your thoughts on having kids?”
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Maki’s world screeched to a halt as she turned the question over and over in her head.
“What did she think about having kids?”
It was never something she thought about.
Never something she ever considered to be possible.
And yet now that she had been asked the question she had to decide if she wanted to have one.
It was something she could answer easily.
Yes, she’d love to have kids with you, and raise them with you.
But there was more to it than that.
There was…
No, they weren’t here anymore, she was free of that place.
And if there was one thing she’s learned from you it's this.
Don’t just think, feel too.
So Maki did exactly that and answered your question in the only way she knew how.
With her whole being.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Inumaki was concerned about Maki.
Sure she could probably slap a curse and kill it but still… She was a friend.
A friend who hasn’t come to training in quite a while.
Which for anyone else would be perfectly fine.
But Maki wasn’t other people, she was Maki.
Training was what she did for fun.
And Inumaki wanted to know why she wasn’t coming to training and why she was always sleeping or eating weird foods.
Well, weirder foods than usual that is.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Inumaki slipped behind the corner as you and Maki talked.
“-you okay?” You asked the muscular woman.
“Yeah, just tired, and nauseous, why the fuck does growing a kid make you feel like you’ve just gotten off a damn roller coaster?” Maki asked with a groan while leaning on the wall.
Meanwhile, Inumaki was having his world flipped on its head at the sudden information he had been given.
Maki Zenin, the strongest woman he knows bar none, is pregnant with your kid.
And he just figured this out because he stuck his nose where it shouldn’t have been.
He needs to run, and fast.
Really, really, REALLY fucking fast.
So that's exactly what he did as soon as the two of you weren’t paying attention. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Inumaki’s current train of thought could be most accurately described as “Oh god, Oh fuck, Oh god, Oh fuck.”
And it was for good reason considering what he just learned.
He prayed to god Maki wouldn’t kill him if he accidentally let it slip.
Oh who was he kidding, she absolutely would.
Inumaki burst into the faculty room where his friends minus Maki sat.
“Whoa! What's wrong with you, Toge!?” the large ball of fluff known as Panda asked.
And without thinking, the white haired man exclaimed “SALMON ROE!”
He then slapped both his prosthetic and his real hand over his mouth as dread overtook him.
Meanwhile everyone in the room looked like Inumaki had just pulled the pin on a grenade and tossed it.
Mai
Mai Zenin sat on the couch, devouring her fifth bag of chips from a bowl that was placed on her swollen belly.
“You're a hungry little shit ain’t ya?” Mai affectionately asked the small human growing inside of her.
Mai was not expecting a response when she asked this but she got one in the form of the baby kicking.
For the very first time.
“…Oh.” Was all Mai was able to say as a flood of emotions overwhelmed her.
Mai was someone who never let out what she was feeling.
It was something she learned from when she was young.
A tool for survival.
But now she had no need to use it.
Her life was filled with friends, with family, true family.
She had a life filled with love, with everything she could want plus more.
She even had you, one of the most powerful living sorcerers as the one who loved her.
And now, even more was about to be added to this dreamlike life of hers.
A child, one she wouldn’t let go of even if she was dead.
A human that would receive as much love as Mai could offer.
A human that would receive as much love as you could offer as well.
A human that wouldn’t have to fear what she did, not only because the Zenin were gone, but because Mai would simply never allow that to happen.
That is the promise she made to the child growing inside of her in that exact moment.
That is the promise she made to her child, the one that she would raise and support, no matter what.
Nobara
Nobara held her daughter in her arms, looking into her sleeping face with her one good eye.
It was a surreal experience.
“Ya know you were a lotta trouble to bring out here right? How the heck are you so dang peaceful now?” Nobara whispered the question before turning her face to look at you a few feet away from her, sleeping in a chair, your arms crossed, but more than ready to turn any cursed spirit that tried to show its ugly mug into ground beef.
“Prolly cause of your dad, he always had a good poker face, though it was probably a good thing Yuji got to that Mahito guy before he did, If what I’ve heard bout’ that warpath he was on after I got taken out of commission and his domain expansion is to be believed he would’ve turned the entire area into one of those crazy things that M.C. Esher guy made.” Nobara muttered to herself before looking back at her child.
Her Child.
Nobara turned the phrase over and over in her head.
Didn’t quite make sense to her yet.
This small, tiny little thing in her arms came from you and her.
This little girl was the very manifestation of the love you and Nobara shared.
A physical manifestation of everything you and Nobara went through to reach this point.
It was something she needed to wrap her head around, though her heart was more than already there.
She could already tell that this little girl was going to be the greatest part of her life with you.
And she couldn’t wait to get that life truly started.
Miwa
You, Miwa, and a small, little boy dressed for school walked side by side on the street.
“I’m gonna make so many friends!” the small boy exclaimed, pumping his fist into the air, copying his fathers excitable nature.
“Oh I know you will, ain’t that right Kasumi?” You asked your wife and the love of your life.
Miwa turned her eyes down to her son and then raised her eyes to yours.
Eyes that were filled with sadness.
“Of course, our little boy will be the most popular boy in school.”
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
You and Miwa waved goodbye as the two of you walked away from the school.
“Heh, pretty sure that teacher thought we were Yakuza.” You said with a chuckle.
“If you started to wear your clothes right she might not get that impression.” Miwa said with a slightly teasing tone that held a sadness within.
“Sigh What’s up with you Kasumi? You’ve been acting weird since this morning.” You asked your wife in concern.
“It’s no-” Miwa began before being cut off by you saying “Don’t say “It’s nothing of concern” Kasumi, I can tell when something is wrong with you.”
Miwa was silent for a moment before trying to say something, but stumbling all over her words “It’s… I… schools and… and curses…”
“Don’t worry Kasumi, curses aren’t going to go after him, not with the both of us around.” You told your wife in an attempt to soothe her.
“B-but what if-” Miwa began before you wrapped your arm around her, pulling her close to you and saying.
“We can’t worry about what if’s, we won’t be able to protect him from everything, it's impossible to do that, but we can do everything we can while we are here for him to lean on. As long as we love him and as long as we do our utmost to protect him from everything we can while steering him right, that’s the best we can do. I know you want to keep him away from the things that took our friends but we can’t, all we can do is what we can do. I’m just as afraid as you are but being afraid won’t do anything, doing what we can will.”
“I-i know, you're right as usual, but can we just go over that place, one more time tonight?” Miwa asked, wanting to do everything she can to protect the little boy you and her made together.
“Of course, I was just about to suggest the same.”
WAIT THEY GAVE VOLKOV A DAUGHTER????? fuck now i need to know more. i don't care abt neo-borg but i'm like the only volkov enjoyer so now i'm super curious. also i'm planning a beyblade women tournament and i'm gonna have 2 put her in the preliminaries
YESS THEY DID. Here's a link to Aoki's colored illustration of her: http:// sakura2factory.web.fc2.com/image/regina20201209.jpg (remove the space after http://)
Her name is Regina Hase, and she is the final antagonist of Beyblade RISING. The first female last boss in Beyblade plastic gen.
I can't recall rn if she directly states, "I'm Volkov's daughter" but I'm very sure she's his daughter (people in the Japanese fandom also seem to think this).
Edit: Okay yeah it's confirmed, she even calls him Father. My memory is very hazy XD
She runs a beyblade gambling ring, DBB. Initially, she disguises herself as Volkov, until Yuriy realizes she's not really him. She was also the one who got Yuriy kicked from the World Championships by circulating videos of Yuriy being all "muahahah I am so evil" while destroying beyblades. She also tried to ruin Takao's reputation by tricking him into battling at DBB and broadcasting it, falsely claiming that Takao is also a DBB blader. She defeats Takao, and gives Yuriy a hard time until Takao joins in on the match and helps Yuriy defeat her.
She has purple hair like Volkov (her long hair is a wig btw, her real hair is very short), and calls herself 'Volkov's heir' at one point, I think. Her nationality is stated as "German-Russian" in a page in the manga, and since her mother Emilia is shown to be German, I think it's safe to say she gets the 'Russian' part from Volkov. She meets Volkov after being defeated by Yuriy and Takao. She talks to him, and at one point Volkov mentions how Regina's anger upon being defeated is just like her Mother's.
Instead of leaving with Volkov, she decides to go her own way.
Later, it is shown she opens the Deustche Beyblade Liga, DBL with her mother. Also, beyblade RISING is very parenthood-centric. A lot of the characters have their parents shown, and some of the plot involves their parents as well. I think it's safe to say Volkov is her father.
Her bit beast is the rabbit Wolpertinger from German Folklore. It is said to live in Bavarian forests. Her launcher is a crossbow launcher like Brooklyn's, although it is handheld rather than worn on the arm. Her last name 'Hase' also means Hare/Rabbit in German, similar to how 'Volkov' means Wolf in Russian.
I think I already described what her beyblade is like, right?
I love how it looks! It took me two years to realize there are two rabbit heads on the lower part. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the way the spikes work. It's a bit too over the top, even for beyblade XD A toned down version of it would be amazing tho!
I also find it interesting that Regina is the one who wears Volkov's iconic mask in RISING, while Volkov himself wears an eyepatch here, presumably from losing an eye? It feels as though he 'passed the torch' to his daughter.
Thanks for the ask! I'm happy to see anyone show interest in Regina. Also, your beyblade women championship sounds amazing!! I'd love to know more about it.
Edit 2: I removed the image and added a link to it on Aoki's site instead, for the longest time I thought you couldn't share links to his illustrations either? But now I saw a post explaining you can.
