Have you ever seen I, Frankenstein? If so, what did you think of it?

How would I describe my experience with I, Frankenstein? Well...

Once I went on a really long road trip to New Orleans and hadn't eaten anything but a shitty motel breakfast in 24 hours and I was dying to get some food. My friends and I stopped at a Taco Bell on our way through Mississippi because we decided we wanted Mexican.

Taco Bell is not real Mexican food, in fact, it barely resembles anything Mexican or food but when you're hungry and you want tacos it's good enough and I ate all of it without complaining.

That was on par with my experience with I, Frankenstein. It's not good, it doesn't actually resemble the thing I want, but I was so starved for Frankenstein content I watched the whole thing and didn't totally hate my time with it.

Spooky films 2023

I started with Young Frankenstein this year, so I'm starting this year's Spooky Season with Mad Science.

I, Frankenstein

Ok, so this isn't a *great* movie, but it is entertaining. It feels like it's in the same universe as Underworld, which is probably deliberate. Its Angels vs Demons, with Frankenstein's Creation being caught in the middle. The question of whether he has a soul seems to be at the heart of it. His origin story is thankfully just backstory. We start with him on the ice, with a little bit of narration to give us the bare bones.

Cue the big fantasy epic!

Gargoyles are actually angels! Fighting the Demons plaguing the earth!

Nice cast, too; Aaron Eckheart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto.

It's fun.

Also the Spanish translation of the title is worth a giggle.
