I'm drinking my yandere Justice League juice again because I keep thinking of all sorts of multiverse/timetravel plotlines because the superhero genre is genuinely so full of fun and weird and dramatic and sad opportunities

You accidentally get sent into another dimension and meet another Justice League who helps you return home! .... except you don't exist in their universe and now they really miss you and they keep coming back to your home dimension to visit and eventually try to take you away entirely, even willing to square up with "your" versions of themselves to do it

Reader who figured out by themselves how to escape a timeline where you were actually treated fairly poorly by the Justice League and they come after you because "oh, we promise we'll be different this time, and also we totally won't be extremely possessive because you have the power to leave us now, uhhhh dont you want to restore the balance, what if this uhhhhhh ruins the timeline, we better take you home"

Do we have any Re Zero fans in here. Have any of you seen where it's revealed every time Subaru dies, he's actually somehow joining a brand new universe/taking over another version of himself, or a new universe is being created, and that the universe he died in is just, forever like that now, it doesn't just blip away, everyone he was with or saw him die is now dealing with the after effects?

We could go two ways here: Reader dies a hero and the Justice League goes insane with grief and guilt that you sacrificed yourself or that they couldn't save you, OR, Reader just straight fucking kills themselves after a series of like manhwa-levels of betrayals and dickery from the League, maybe they even kicked you out or shunned you after some sort of mistake, and they're desperate to make things up to you when they find out you're still out there

Like, the trauma they experience when you die and they find out you're still alive and they COME TO GET YOU??? The JEALOUSY that you're WITH THEM but not with THEM? And then you just fucking say, "no thanks I want to stay here, I like my new life here"???

It's all the more juicy when you think of the different depictions of time travel and multiverse shit because, sometimes time travel is depicted as super rigid, like if you fuck up the past you return to a completely different future, and sometimes it's depicted almost like string theory where any divergence is just a brand new dimension to hop between, so like... I dunno if I explained that well enough but, your former JL genuinely convinced something could happen but also trying to manipulate you by saying you not returning to their timeline could have terrible consequences, meanwhile here's like, New Flash, "technically if they killed themselves in your timeline wouldn't it, I dunno, break reality or something if you brought them back anyways" and your new Justice League, uh, definitely isn't willing to give you back either, especially if they mistreated you

New JL is convinced Old JL was abusive and doesn't appreciate you. Old JL thinks New JL are exploitative manipulative creeps who are taking advantage of you during a vulnerable time. Neither side thinks the other deserves you.

Also consider??? Platonic yandere JL vs romantic/sexual yandere JL???? Because that could be wild either way too? Like, the perspective is nuanced from both angles. I don’t think I’ll ever know peace until we get an official sb remaster. I need to play the intended game SO badly it’s unreal.

Most people want a remaster already, and I think they should seriously consider it. I want to see a glow up so bad. I don’t want Vanny Vanessa to return in a new game, I think that would undo what little of an arc she has, but I just really want her done well in sb. I want the other characters to be given better treatment too, as tired as people are with the setting and characters, they don’t feel finished and I don’t feel satisfied. Besides, a very strong criticism I have with sb is that it lacks outside characters and world-building, so to go back and give mentions to book characters/events would completely revitalize the game and keep Tales relevant. I get they’re working on other projects atm and don’t even want to look in sb’s direction but man, they’re gonna have to address the game’s issues eventually

man I wish it was possible for them to remaster SB but it just isnt. scott calls the shots at the end of the day, and because SB wasnt how he envisioned it (because he didnt tell them any fucking thing) is why it ended up like this. the version of SB we saw in trailers and promotional material was STEEL WOOLS version, their ideas and campaign. and because they thought afton was the villain, they designed the story around afton. lines from trailers like "you will do as I say, both of you will burn" were 100% him, and would have been majorly story relevant. the whole reason SB got canned was because they had to course correct to mimic, and they can salvage nothing but they couldnt salvage the completely wrong villain

and weve been in this 'mimic course correction and history lesson' era for soo long. I'm just as ready as you to finally get justice for the SB plots and characters, but I dont think it'll be in the form of a remaster. a remaster would mean remaking the game either with mimic as a villain, greatly changing it, or restoring SWs afton plot, and I just can't see it happening

but the good news is that theres no way in hell they arent building up vanny to be important again, with the entire nature of Vannys face being spread around for employees to use and her tagging still existing and cassie in ruin wearing her face. especially with lines like "that mask suits you" I cant see a world where she doesnt make a comeback inside cassie and has another chance to shine

also with ggy hints and just. the end of the mimics reign of terror being marked with sotm, theres gonna finally be room after the mimic shit for steel wool to actually cook with writing again, and theyll be collabing with Scott so theyll hopefully have the same level of great writing as ruin did, and also the tapes in SB

it sucks that it ended up this way but were on track to at least seeing their potential realized in a different kind of campaign, which is all I've wanted for 3 years lmaoo. steel wool just truly has not had room to talk about them with all this focus on mimic and prequels and the past and shit, where they wouldnt be relevant. after the mimic is finally just. IN the stupid story already, theyll be progressing it finally and ggy vanny vanny!cassie vanessa Gregory freddy etc will all finally at least be on track to appearing again. I'll take any Ws I can get. SW is genuinely good at writing the human characters if how they wrote cassie is any indication, so once they actually SHOW UP again, which has been the problem this whole time, then we'll be talking

You know what- this season is genuinely such a delight at times. Im thinking about adding it to my regular rewatch list along with 1-13 as just like a little bonus I can have at the end cause it’s just such fun. Glorified fanfiction! We love to see it- maybe Restoration sucking was a blessing in disguise cause it really gave me a new appreciation for 15 and 17 (but 17 especially). I probably won’t rewatch 15 as much cause being honest I don’t really enjoy it in its entirety as much as 17 but it’s got good moments I love.

Now- I know the logical thing for me to do is go back and watch 16 and then Restoration but here’s the thing… I don’t want to.

I genuinely do not enjoy those seasons. I don’t want to put myself through something that’s just gonna make me angry and bitter just for the sake of giving commentary on them- not right now anyway. Maybe one day I’ll feel like being a bit salty and do it but that’s just really not how I want to spend my time with my favorite show. I’ve already rewatched any clips from restoration that I cared to rewatch and I don’t think any of my feelings on it are gonna change. And I’ve seen 16 enough times to know my feelings won’t change.

Now what I am considering doing is rewatching 1-13 for the 20th time (<- accurate number, I’ve kept count over the years) and continuing to do these thought posts cause they’re good fun to do! So who knows whenever the time comes you’ll probably have to deal with more of my insane ramblings 😂

ooh ty for this ask thats a really interesting question that ive totally not thought about a lot :o HAH but yes anyway. the short answer is that i think that ottos reaction would be Not Good. but it would be kinda good bc ottos strategic mind and undying loyalty to subaru Would be helpful to have.... bc yknow, otto would be a pretty reliable ally who'd KNOW about rbd.... but also NOT GOOD for the exact same reasons (strategic mind and undying loyalty). i just think that otto knowing rbd is gonna cause both him giving subaru some comfort (ie otto going “i know now all youve been through… please confide in me about it”) and A Lot Of Conflict (“haha you should simply stop using rbd so much ahahha”).

anyway!! the longer answer is that i think ottos reaction depends a little bit on if hes finding out rbd alongside other people or if hes the ONLY one to figure out rbd at this time. i think the more likely option in canon is that he might figure it out via restoring roswaal's tome hah, but yes i mean either way, otto finds out rbd and his entire fucking world is gonna get flipped on its head just like any one of subarus other loved ones finding out rbd. if ottos finding it out by himself, i dont think that he'd reveal rbd to other people unless he HAS TO, but he'd tell subaru he knows about rbd (if subaru doesnt know at that point) when he feels its necessary. but more on that later.

anyway in terms of ottos general feelings - yeah, like. a lot of them are gonna be all the usual things that you would feel around finding out that your dear friend has had this absolutely horrific time travel ability haaah... like the horror of "oh god how much have you used that", and then "oh god have i hurt and killed you before" and "oh god whats happened in all those failed loops. youve definitely had failed loops right ahah" and "THATS why you know so much shit you shouldnt know and thats why youre so so traumatized by shit i dont know. ohhhhh god" and "have you always had this power?? in the entire time ive known you??? oh FUCK" you know? like otto especially i think is very analytical about things. and hes uh. Anxious. so hes just gonna go aaaaaalll the way down that rabbit hole (................pun intended) of "what the fuck subaru" and "OH NO SUBARU" and like in general connecting all the awful puzzle pieces together of all of subaru's mysterious behaviors suddenly lining up with rbd..... its a HUGE oh shit moment.

and then otto is gonna go RIGHT into gameplan mode. emergency mode. i think hes just gonna put HIS feelings on the backburner (he might have to have a little breakdown first depending on how Bad it goes, but given this is RBD it most definitely hit otto with the force of a dinosaur) and then ottos gonna throw himself right into doing his "duty" as subarus friend. we kinda see this a bit in stuff like gluttony if where otto tells garfiel to get his shit together bc its only them left bc SUBARU KILLED THE REST OF THEIR FRIENDS.... and then otto feels numb seeing garfiel die and then distantly, iirc, thinks of himself as kind of a shit person for not feeling much about garfiel dying in front of him :( but yeah like. ottos good at throwing himself into THINK OF AND EXECUTE A PLAN TO SOLVE THIS EMERGENCY SITUATION NOW, HAVE ANOTHER CRISIS ABOUT IT LATER. esp when its SUBARU on the line here. and its SUBARU whos been lost a million times before otto found out already, which will most definitely be driving him insane 👍 ottos coping mechanisms (….punching walls…. alcohol……. working….. general bits of aggression….) are very like. numbing/lashing out kind of coping mechanisms. Solitary coping mechanisms. and i think he’s gonna prioritize subaru over himself and try to be subarus support and then go to Cope and Seethe in private where subaru cant see him HAHA. or right in subarus face bc otto has a tendency to do that too, depends on how Pushed otto is. either that or, like with garfiels death in gluttony if, otto is numbed by shock at first (….until the full weight of the reveal probably crashes on him at some point).

that and i think ottos gonna be coping anyway by being obsessive about subaru, as one does (ottos really normal) (very normal) (and very mentally well)

it depends on how rbd reveal goes, but the options like i mentioned earlier are probably gonna be

1. otto found out rbd alongside other people -> otto provides emotional and strategic support to subaru + the rest of the camp whenever possible but stays largely in the background until he feels he has to take any Drastic Options

2. otto found out rbd on his own (and subaru doesnt know yet) -> otto stays in the background and intervenes when he feels he Has To -> will likely only tell subaru he knows abt rbd when he thinks its the right time and then try to be subarus pillar of support

yep so!! in general, i think ottos closely gonna observe subaru from now on— i think otto would wanna keep tabs on subaru at All Times and know Basically Everything about what subarus doing now. i know that sounds like. extreme. bc it is HAH but i think itd be in line with what we’ve seen otto be willing to do to save subaru and their other friends (see: wanting louis/spica dead) (see: being perfectly fine with leaving 50 million people to die), and ottos uhhhh slight nonchalance about getting his hands dirty (see: launching bandits off a cliff in self defense) (see: being nonchalant about the murder mystery in the goddess statue side story) (see: ….his various deranged comments like how its fine if 50 million people die if it means saving rem and subaru) (see: his suicide note in arc 4)

otto knows abt rbd and the effect rbd has on subaru and how subaru WILL use rbd bc hes just THAT fucking crazy but also THAT well intentioned to use rbd like that. this is ottos worse nightmare by the time we get to arc 8– hes upset and scared of subaru especially putting himself in danger bc of good intent and his desire to save people. subaru wants to save the world bc its ALL important to him, otto wants to save ONLY who’s most important to him— ie, ONLY ottos inner circle. so ottos gonna be put into a panic. hes gonna double down trying to control subaru so subaru stops sacrificing himself bc haha who cares about all those other people??? i know you do natsuki-san but this is too high of a cost to you, youre TOO IMPORTANT (to me), you cant keep doing this so ill just have to stop you!!

so i think it might just escalate tbh. if otto doesnt know how rbd reveal is activated, hes gonna try real hard to figure that out. if he KNOWS, hes gonna start making up plans as he fucking goes bc i am NOT letting subaru die AGAIN if i can help it. if he finds out about the suicide pill???? time to consider the pros and cons of yanking that shit right out of subarus mouth. some random vollachian civilians just died???? well time to stop subaru from dying bc using rbd is NOT fucking worth it. especially for random ass people. if something bad happens, like garfiel or someone else dying, and subarus about to rbd? oh fuck, guess i gotta consider if i should let subaru die or force him to live against his will. and let garfiel die potentially forever. oh god if i let subaru die will he be dead in this world or will time just completely overwrite what just happened and i wont know?? bc you know. assuming otto might be the one person knowing rbd in this hypothetical scenario… (or in general just me using otto as an example here—) once otto knowing about rbd gets cemented past a save point subaru has—the next time subaru dies, will otto be left behind in that world with a dead subaru?? or will the new timeline override the old?? its of course the same question asked in like the arc 4 second trial that subaru has but NOW its from a whole new perspective. otto could potentially be left behind in a failed timeline knowing subarus dead in his world but—is subaru DEAD dead?? or did subaru really go into a new timeline??? itd break otto. i dont think he could LIVE without subaru.

anyway yeah i dont think ottos gonna cope well under these circumstances either way hah but for the sake of everyone else otto would hold his shit together until it gets too much. and i think hes gonna rethink about how hes been willing to DIE for subaru in the past—hes gonna think about how many times hes died for subaru before, hes gonna think about how actually he wouldnt mind dying for subaru but he cant tell subaru that or subaru will be upset, and hes gonna think about how even if he dies for subaru now, is it still worth it when subaru will just do anything he can to reset and undo ottos death??? its a WHOLE mindfuck.

OH MAN valda my dude you have opened such a can of worms

so the tldr of it is: all over. it really depends on what specifically i'm looking for and like.... the size i need, etc. i get a god awful number of *really on point* fb ads for small clothing brands, plus i try and pick up shirts and such from indie artists where i can, plus a variety of fast/er fashion alternative brands, and thrifting. so much thrifting

however, i do have some pretty strict guidelines for what i will buy. ymmv on a lot of my specifics because a solid chunk of it is based off of how i like my clothes specifically to fit and everyone has their own jam, but the key things i think everyone should pay attention to are:

sizing/fit: do not compromise. there is some flexibility depending on the item and how willing you are to alter a thing, but it should always ALWAYS fit the way u like, or otherwise be comfortably tolerable in the ways it doesnt (sleeve length almost always gets me because i have very long arms, but i generally push my sleeves up anyway so its not a deal breaker, BUT the rise of my pants will absolute result in me never wearing them if it's not Right, hence ymmv)

everything you buy should either be immediately wearable in at least 3 full outfits from things you already own OR be a staple piece to build a new branch of outfit options off of that otherwise works with at least one key item already owned, like shoes

other things i really look at are under the cut cos it got long lmao

colour pallet (i own almost no bright colours; if there's colour, it is 80% of the time going to be pastel pink or lavender, though I've been branching out into brights and primary tones a little. i also own precisely Four brown items: two are CR merch, one is my vintage cat vest, and the fourth is a pair of absolutely gorgeous vintage boots that i got for hella cheap as a bootblacking restoration project)

cut/fit (depending on where i wanna present of the masc >< femme spectrum in that outfit; i like all my bottoms to sit on my (very high and narrow) waist, with skirts generally hitting at or below my knee and either very flared (circle or swing) or pleated. box cut "unisex" shirts should hit where the ball of my hips sit in my pelvis but femme cut shirts dont have to be that long they will be tucked in. i almost never wear something sleeveless, or if i do i wear a shirt under it, and the closest i get to a low cut shirt is shirts with keyholes, otherwise nothing lower than maybe an inch or two under my collarbone. my shoes are also generally high tops or boots and often have either a thick sole or a full out platform)

theme (this is how i wear really weird shit in very cohesive ways lmao; my tshirts are all generally ominous goth graphics OR cutesy kawaii vomit (or both lmao), patterns on my blouses and skirts (or pants, on the few patterned pants i have) are in similar veins (lotta halloween themes, lotta hearts) OR theyre very basic stripes/tartan that i mix and match with graphic shirts)

i also pay attention to quality as much as i can, and will absolutely not shop directly from the really aggressively fast fashion brands like shein, h&m, romwe, etc. they're always cut and made like shit and basically never look good on an actual person, but every now and then i'll find something cute in a thrift store that i can physically check for quality. vintage also tends to be better quality in general, especially if youre looking for natural fibers (the number of vintage silk dad shirts i own for summer is A Lot lmao), but can be cost and size prohibitive

"big" brands:

killstar, blackcraft clothing (generally traditional goth, better for straight sizes, decent quality for the price)

unique vintage, modcloth (vintage repro, both stockists for other vintage repro brands on top of selling their own things, generally pretty good quality across stocked and in house brands, most skirts and dresses have POCKETS, lotta killer sales, good size range)

smaller brands:

myviolet and foxblood (sibling companies run by the same people, myviolet is pastel kawaii stuff while foxblood is goth; they do sometimes carry the same cuts of things in different pallets. generally pretty good quality, does a lot of stuff in cotton or modal but not everything. size range is pretty stellar tho especially for a small brand)

disturbia clothing, straight to hell apparel (disturbia is more corporate goth leaning with a lot of business type wear in goth colors and patterns, straight to hell is very rockabilly leaning. both are pricey but their quality seems very sound (i have not bought from them though))

wicked clothing (sarcastic goth), two crow collective (chronically ill), thentvs (native american streetwear) (mostly tshirts, but really off beat ones. only bought from wicked clothing so far, just tryna decide how many more tshirts i need)

sleepy peach (retro repro but make it weird, lotta weird mens cardigans)

kei collective (stockist of a lot of indie designers in the western kawaii streetfashion scene, a wide variety of very cute to VERY WEIRD apparel and accessories)

die with your boots on (stockist, carries foxblood and a lot of other straight black goth basics. quality is on par with foxblood, size range can vary depending on brand, great place to peek for things like strangecvlt shoes or foxblood items that are out of stock on the main site)

art brands:

morning witchy (lot of botanical all over patterns on button up dad shirts, skirts, joggers, shorts, tshirts, and so on, with absolutely banger size range. gorgeous quality and absolutely beautiful designs. i want so many of their sweaters so bad)

stablercake (not specifically apparel focused but they do pretty frequent tshirt designs and theyre all great, ESPECIALLY if youre a furry. quality is always top tier unless its a bs manu error, in which case they typically offer a replacement or coupon when they find out something is fading weird, etc)

crescent creepers (weird goofy goth all over patterns, like 80s style cartoon bugs or deep sea creatures. sizing isnt great but if you're thinner, they have a lot of really fun overalls/shorteralls and button ups)

vetiver fox (very pretty goth patterns, has a lot of gorgeous swoopy skirts (with fuck off huge pockets) and some cool tank tops, is planning on maybe doing a run of regular tshirts too)

s2heart bunny (kawaii anime girl art shirts except soft and pretty and often sad or, as is the case with the ones i have, kawaii bunnies with nail bats and middle finger flags lmao)

egglien creations (weird bright very clowncore apparel, i have the cardigan from their collab with lulu van hoagland, who also does gorgeous work, just usually not apparel)

also a lot of the times, artists (especially tattoo artists) you follow will do tshirts and the like, which is where i get a lot of my really weird things

So i dont talk about this often here ebcause i fear that it is hashtag cringe to take this media more seriously than it demands but i do sometimes think about what orbulons home planet might be like. I know it's irrelevant within the context of the stories hes already involved in and also will probably never come up in my own but as a freak who likes thinking about alien planets i think its fun to speculate. So anyways. What we know about orbulon is

He has an iq of 300 (allegedly) but his intelligence is in actuality either average or below average for the rest of his species. (I like to think it's below average because he's so insecure about it and it's funny. It is OK orbulon you are smart to me.)

He can shapeshift and also has no bones and can twist himself into horrible shapes. So far we are seeing a vague cephalopod parallel but i believe that ends here.

Along with shapeshifting, Orbulon can teleport, telepathy, and even telephone.

He sleeps A LOT and mentally cannot function on the comparatively small amount of sleep that humans require. This could be related to either the big brain thing and/or the fact that

Time on his planet "moves half the speed it does on earth", whether this means that the planet rotates and/or revolves twice as slowly or if time itself does some wibbly wobbly shit is unclear but given the title "time warp" and the fact that warioware is a goofy over the top series it might be the wibbly wobbly. People on orbulon's planet have already developed advanced time travelling technology to the point where the average person can just have it in their car. In the online mega microgames diaries orbulon takes his oinker to dr crygor to get it fixed and dr crygor stumbles upon the time travel stuff by accident. This makes sense if everyone on orbulon's planet is smart enough to break an IQ test.

Also time-related, orbulon's species has a super long lifespan. Orbulon is about 2023 as of 2023, although he attaches his age to his "carbon matter" specifically which is clearly just because he is a pretentious ass and needs to use the most obtuse vocabulary for everything BUT i enjoy reading into things so i am going to say it is not only that deep. Which brings us to:

Things I Made Up About Orbulon

I think that his species has a weird immortal jellyfishlike life cycle where they constantly revert back to an earlier stage and renew themselves to increase their lifespan. The orbulon we know is not Exactly the same orbulon that was born 2000+ years ago and sadly is also not Exactly the same orbulon that is OP in get it together. But they are all orbulon. I think that the sleep thing and the telepathy thing are related. The antenna is a sensory organ that is able to detect and project vaguely-defined Psychic Energies. I also think that this could be how he summoned the alien bunnies to haul ass and save him from the asteroid in the first game

The sleep thing and telepathy thing are related in my brain and I think that his species can communicate with each other in the Dream Realm. (Not an actual realm im just calling it that.) i also toyed with the idea of their dreams also being a way to gradually restore past memories after metamorphosis but i think thats too complicated for this. It would be a cool idea for alien species in general but i dont want to make my silly wario comics have that much drama

Going off the dream realm thing though, I think that because they are psychic supergeniuses that communicate in dreams, the line between "individual" and "group" is very blurry compared to most human societies. Through dreams things like technology and ideas can be collaborated on infinitely by an infinite amount of minds, and in such a liminal state the sense of self tends to take a backseat to the pursuit of progress. This isn't to say they don't view themselves as individuals at all (or else orbulon wouldn't be like that) but moreso that they are highly communal and have different priorities and ways of conceptualizing themselves. Think ants.

Now, orbulon has CONFIRMED at least 16 friends on his home planet, which is frankly an obscene amount of friends to be able to have in your 2020's. Personally I think it's hard to cobble together a vibrant social life after your 1300's but what do i know. But anyways, i think that even extremely close-knit "friend groups" in orbulon's planet tend to average in the double digits and even dip into the triple digits just because of the way their minds and culture work. Dunbar's number ceases to be an issue when you are a psychic genius that can mind meld with everyone on the planet.

i think orbulon genuinely likes the people he grew up with, and that they like him, but even though he had those friends I personally think he was probably a bit of a misfit even on his home planet. The fact that he is SO insecure even among earthlings and the fact that he left and didn't return to his home planet for at least a thousand years tips me in that direction. Earth would have been a huge culture shock for him even if he knew about it ahead of time, but I think that finding a group of fellow weirdos that he can be himself around was more than worth the adjustment.

i just beat godstrike

the uh. the real banner didnt wanna copy paste so i had to improvise

this is one of those games that i bought in a fanatical bundle and just never bothered touching. this was just a vehicle to get wall world or affogato for cheaper. but, like... this is actually pretty good?

so the main genre is twin-stick shooter boss rush. you get free movement to dodge attacks while trying to keep your stream of bullets on the boss. the design is very bullet hell, which isnt my favorite genre but i think it was actually done really well here. i mean, the last thing youd want is your target bouncing off the walls, so its good that theyre not always moving around doing melee shit

the main gimmick is a timer. you start each fight with a few minutes, and you get a -15 second deduction whenever you get hit. once the timer reaches zero, youre put into one-hit-kill mode. this is... awesome? like this is really well done. i wanna compare it to furi, where the encounters are way longer and youre encouraged to play defensively by dodging to maintain your health and parrying to restore some of it. with godstrike, theres like a built-in balance system. you could play defensively and protect your health, but being careful takes time anyway. being more aggressive risks getting hit, but since the playstyle saves time, its a really natural trade-off that caters to either play style

theres also an ability system! active abilities and passive buffs. since actives reduce your starting timer, i went with only 2 out of the max of four: the quad-shot and the rapid fire. get in close and pop both at once and you shred through motherfuckers

if i had to complain, id say that not all of the attacks are telegraphed the best. sometimes theyll just start streaming bullets outta nowhere, and since i have a very close-quarters playstyle that really screws me over. i acknowledge that this is a trade off of the play style, being close to your enemy is inherently risky, but i still think itd be nice if there was maybe a second-ish where they visually charge up. that said, getting hit isnt run-ending, and the phases are brief enough that its easy to just memorize what they can do and keep an eye out for it. its really easy to intuit the pause between attacks after like, your second attempt

this is all pretty ignorable until the final boss, garodal. firstly, this boss commits the cardinal sin of enjoyability where the first three phases are piss-easy by your third try, but the final phase is the actual part you struggle with. good luck practising those patterns with 4 minutes of preamble every time. also watch out for him teleporting behind you and shooting a spread of bullets wider than you can strafe, also watch out for him teleporting behind you and attacking with a range wider than you can strafe, and whatever you do dont get hit by his shitty beam attack because since you dont have invincibility frames youll take damage four times from a single mistake (unless you just happen to be standing where he starts shooting, which isnt your fault but still warrents punishment i guess). these are all things games do when theyre fun and i like them.

yeah i switched to easy mode for this, and this did nothing but further convince me its bullshit because it did nothing to make the attacks less cheap. ive got a creed where if a game expects something from me, i expect the same thing from it. thats why if i perfect a game, thats a huge compliment (or its just hella easy). this is one of those games thats fun to try out, but it has too many flaws to justify investing the effort into improving my gameplay to the levels its asking for.

so yeah, for the most part, i was really surprised by this game, first by how good it was and then by how shit the final boss was. note to prospective devs, go back and work harder on your final boss. ive beaten like five games in a row that fumble the landing and leave an awful impression as a result.

again, be warned that its very difficult, but if youve got the fingers for that kinda thing then you should totally check it out. like, wow its hard. it took like an hour and a half for me to beat cindael, what the fuck are those rpgmaker hitboxes. its niche but its cheap so just try it

everyone goes silent while finn sorta deflects and haws his way around a no. he didnt even see the ultimate reward in his own game, and he probably wouldnt have remembered anyway. piers is more blunt and well, not grumpy but yk. for the rest of that meeting. and afterwards. everyone splits up to go questing and piers goes back home for more tedious insect science. and after floating around checking on the others for a bit, finn ends up on piers' planet like he usually does.

its hard to tell, but piers is upset with him. or something related to finn? he's a grumpy cynical person anyway, but piers when he's really upset is distant and cold, using work as a barrier to the world while he seethes quietly. finn tries to talk to him, just how they normally would, but piers is uhh. yea

neither of them are super 'beat around the bush' people, so finn just asks. "is it about the meeting?" and piers has to put his tools down. "i'm flattered you think of me as one of you all, really. but the reality is that,.. im not even supposed to be here. i'm only... not alive but resurrected, because of a whole lot of glitches that lined up to revive me."

"im not a player here. my planet isnt here, i dont have a spot on either of the moons, there sure isnt a quest bed out there for me. ive no reason to assume ill be able to enter the new universe with you, and i dont want to... pretend that its true."

piers: "you dont know! im not going to delude myself into thinking that either, but you just... dismiss that it could happen... and i dont care whatever the game thinks, youre- ugh" he doesnt usually get this emotional with arguments..

finn is still... listen. its a self worth thing, the only vital thing he did for his session was die. and so far, he hasnt done anything other than provide the information sprites are supposed to anyway. hes a useful messenger, and he's good at talking to people, but hes not a combatant or magic wielder or planner. he knows hes a coward.

mental health: psychiatry is fucking barbaric we're still in the dark ages. we have a very limited array of ways to actually deal with it and everything else is either a scam or too experimental and clinicians are unwilling to look further into it. mental health systems do serve those and power and can help you if you're a normie, but it's sort of becoming worshipped as the new family. you can't really question your therapist, which makes it easier to hurt you. that's also why i don't like seeing anything as a universal good.

ig ill start with mark??? first of all nonbinary as hell and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. second xe's a very interesting character to talk about because basically everything i can say about xem spirals into other characters but ill try to keep this focused on xem as much as possible. anyways GOD i miss act 1 when we were constantly learning new information about xyr life and xyr suicide. i honestly really wish the first act had gone even farther with establishing xem because i feel like all we really know about xem is the encounter and xyr paranoia. especially since alex didn't intend to go much farther with xem after the first act it would have been nice to get more detail with xem back then.

i genuinely think mark had so much love to give to so many people but it just got stifled again and again and its extremely heartbreaking . i think mark wanted to be better and make a difference in the world but ultimately was never allowed to. xe was excited to have a baby sister, as evidenced by alt!cesar using her against xem in vol 1 restored. xe was glad to FINALLY leave school (i believe xe was a senior when xe died. which is awful but yk) after giving everything xe had left in xem to just barely pass. xe loves a lot of things about life like the autumn leaves and drumming and . xyr one friend that xe does doesnt even like xem. but its okay xe's sure xe's just misjudging him!!!! (xe's too afraid to confirm or deny this.)

but i think all that love gets stifled by xyr environment. xe's miserable, feeling restrained by the stories xe's had drilled into xyr head from birth; even though xe still believes them, xe's been coming dangerously close to seeing the holes poked into xyr little worldview. xe fights every day to hold onto those little things that make them happy, because some days it feels like thats all xe has. and okay i was memeing earlier when i said people who tell you mark isnt nonbinary are lying but unironically i think mark takes solance in xyr identity because its the one thing no one can take away from xem to matter how hard they try. xe's continuously told that xe has to succeed and be fine for the sake of everyone else around xem and it exhausts xem because xe is traumatized. its so awful and xe's so tired of it all. thank god this this the last year of high school, because maybe now xe can finally hope to be free.

UHHHHH SHIT NOW I GOTTA TALK ABOUT SIX NOW OOPS!!!! like i said earlier i dont. think. about the alternates very much. they just arent interesting to me in the same way the human characters are. theyre interesting in their own way of course!! but personally i prefer the more complex and nuanced conflicts present between the human characters.

HOWEVER!!!!! six really stands out from all the other alternate characters because . a. the implication that he ISNT an alternate makes me crazy insane and i really hope that gets elaborated on in vol 5 and b!!!! he's responsible for so much in the plot and a lot of the conflicts that i really love in the human characters. he's responsible for mark's paranoia, adam being. like that. lynn dying which brings thatcher and ruth over to the murray house and resulting in ruths death. SO GODDAMN MUCH. he influences nearly EVERY major aspect of the plot but in a much more direct way than gabriel does, and that makes him much more interesting to me. i really like how so much of it can be traced back to him and he DOES SOMETHING WITH THIS. he comes in to talk to adam and is like hey girl. im gonna drop the most devastating information of your entire life without any kind of warning whatsoever. oh yeah and you also only met me like two days ago in a basement after you lost the only person that ever cared about you. get fucked ! and thats so funny to me . i love him hes a piece of shit

Hello. sorry this will be long, I didnt know where to leave a review. I played Jjimjilbang for a bit (not the full demo, not gonna lie, I am too tired for this today. Just so you know the extent of my gameplay) Also I am generally not good at games (easy mode is my mode) and I don't know much about stats.

I have no problem with the graphics and music (my first console was the big grey gameboy lol). I quite enjoy all of that, it feels nostalgic to me. Music isnt too intrusive either and does not distract from stuff on the screen (granted there isnt a whole lot going on so its pretty safe) I like how the characters are designed, and their little avatar picture in the bottom speech frame (I am foreign, I dont know how thats called in english)

I like the rpg aspect. It was a bot weird to be thrown into the story simply with a text screen (well plenty of old games do that but I was spoiled by the zelda games and "illustrated" storytelling). I dunno if youre supposed to find roach first, but i explored a bit alone and got obliterated, before I found him. so If you're supposed to find him and the shop before diving head first into danger like an idiot (me, I am the idiot)... maybe it should be more obvious/forced? otherwise just blame my bad decision making skills. (this is where its obvious I started as a new game and not from the save)

I have a very bad sense of direction so I got confused often in the rooms. i know there is a "map" text but it didnt help for me to paint a general map in my brain. I insist that my sense of direction is lower than average lol.

I enjoy the random encounters as much as I enjoyed them in the tall grass in pokemon, which is not at all. BUT they are ghosts and it makes sense for them to jumpscare you and be annoying. I am not SUPPOSED to enjoy it so that's not a real problem. I wish their level was a bit more worked? i dunno i was without roach and encountered 3 of them at once, I think, it seemed overkill (it sure overkilled me). and then I had a tiny one that I oneshot, which restored my ego a bit. But maybe I stepped in the wrong room, as I said. In fact the ghosts would have been less annoying if I wasnt interrupted while trying to retrace my steps because I got disoriented on the map. encountering them when you explore is fine. being interrupted while going back and forth is a bit more of a pain. it adds to the frustration. As I said again, my direction is absolute shite.

The decor is real nice, I am a bit bummed that there are items that are just decorative. like there was a locker with a thing on top, I was upset that it wasnt something I can pick up, and just deco, while the items to loot are in very obvious chests. I don't know, I am a fallout player, I see a locker I inspect it hahaha. Having dungeon chests for regular non-ghost items felt a bit non-immersive maybe. like I expected to find items such as the mirror and watch in the locker itself. though finding a key in a safe makes sense. it does make it easy to pinpoint what your task is, in a specific room, but takes away from immersion in my opinion.

Anyway I enjoyed it really much so far and would enjoy playing a full version. This is not bad at all and I am nitpicking. see thins a being honest and constructive about my experience as a below average gamer, not in a "here is a list of why it sucked" way (not at ALL).

Also is there a korean version? I would be interested in that too.
