Pitch is Rivalry, yeah. Competitive Self Betterment. A lot of people seem to forget some genuine affection is necessary for BlackRom to work out and that there's clear distinction between "BlackRom" and "Just Hating Someone". The reason they can get so intense is because you care about the other party. It's a hell of a lot easier to get mad at something if you care about it, either because you love that thing or because it's negatively impacting something you love. It's why politics get people so up in arms. Politics inherently spell out who you do and do not care for the lives and rights of, and if that steps on groups that represent people that others care about a lot, they're going to get angry. Because... Duh.

Abusive Kismesissitudes are real and extremely possible, and I hate when people act like "Abuse" and "Kismesissitude" are either synonymous or completely exclusive of each other. Gamzee and Terezi were directly addressed as being in an Abusive Kismesissitude. There was a whole damn arc about it. Confronting the fact that it was an Abusive Kismesissitude was done in plain terms and on screen. It's pretty clearly spelled out.

So, yeah, fully agree. Pitch CroTuna is not fucking real and it never will be, because Cronus does not love Mituna and Mituna does not love him, and they're not in a god damned Quadrant. Cronus is explicitly just Mituna's abuser, and while this does involve Cronus sexually assaulting him, the mere presence of Mituna getting assaulted does not at all equate to either of them having feelings for each other, and if you so much as imply anything near contrary to that point, you are a sick fuck and should get hit by a car. Cronus does not care about Mituna. He cares about the fact that he can take advantage of the fact that he's a very vulnerable target that people will not listen to if he tries to speak up about the fact that he is getting abused. Cronus says that directly. He admits to it, in plain terms!

This is not shipping material, this is explicitly, textually someone experiencing extreme violence and bigotry at the hands of a man who does not care for the rights, happiness, consent, lives, and bodily autonomy of other people. This is explicitly someone getting intentionally targeted and abused because they are a vulnerable, oppressed minority group and the abuser feels confident they can get away with the abuse. Cronus has openly admitted to wishing that "culling meant what it should mean on Beforus", meaning making Alternian Culling methods - which is literal eugenics - the standard, so that he could kill Mituna for the crime of being disabled and get away with it. Nothing Cronus has ever said to Mituna even verges on Pitch Flirting. Not even close. It's just raw, unfiltered violent abuse and hatred.

If one is going to fetishize or romanticize abuse, at least own up to it. Don't try to warp canon just to soften and blur the edges. Don't get coy. Many years ago, when i first started practicing witchcraft, i did a spell on holloween where i burned a poppet in a fire. The poppet was meant to represent getting rid of bad things to make room for new, better things. I focused on hoping trump would get what he deserved, and other large things.

A day later my cat passed away, she was six months old, and seemed to have had a heart attack.

I was terrified it was my fault somehow, or that my spell backfired. And every year im reminded of that fear.

I try to tell myself there is no way i could accidentally kill something with magic, but hearing it from someone else would help a ton. If thats okay. Thanks

So, looking at this from the angle of how witchcraft is supposed to work, it doesn't sound like your spell was constructed in a way that it should have hit your cat by mistake or misfire. Assuming witchcraft can perform feats such as this (and to be clear, there is no solid evidence that it can), it just doesn't sound like your spell had the right construction for it.

Secondly, lots of people have used baneful magic on Trump, and we don't see overwhelming numbers of people reporting bad things happening to those close to them or anything like that.

I have my own anecdote to share; a long time ago, I lost a cat after fooling around with something "magical." I'd seen this symbol described in a book; supposedly it was an evil symbol or something, and for reasons that I do not remember at this point (probably had a lot to do with being a bored kid, though), I drew the symbol on a piece of paper. It wasn't very long after that the cat met with an untimely end, and I thought that maybe, somehow, drawing the symbol had something to do with it. Said symbol was nothing more than a circle with a cross in it - IE; the astrological symbol of Earth. There was never anything malefic about this symbol at all, it was just a really unfortunate coincidence.

Okay so basically his backstory goes like this: back in the Victorian era there was this couple that was really into the occult. They were fairly nomadic, traveling the states as consultants when people were having supernaturally driven issues. This couple also happened to have a young son, Henri. Henri and his folks were very close and he took after them and their interest in ancient magic A Lot.

When Henri was about 9 his parents died. They left everything to him, but they didn't exactly have a house or anything, just a ton of old books and cursed trinkets. His favorite though was a book that was written entirely in ancient greek. So when he ran away to avoid being shipped off to live with relatives that didnt appreciate his interest in magic too much, that book was one of the things he thought to grab first.

Grief can make a 9 year old orphan do crazy shit, for Henri it became about trying to translate this book. Thats when he discovered problem number 2 with the book: its full of dark magic. Every spell in it is awful and corrupting. There's one unfinisged spell thats meant to banish a demon from their host body. And its like the one spell he can concieve of in this book that isnt just like flat out evil. So he decided to try and finish it.

The book also has a demon summoning ritual in it, so you can guess what he does.

After that he's saddled with Claire a 12 year old girl who is VERY mad it him about getting rid of her demon and demands he help her find him again. (Note: Claire does not realize he's trans yet here)

They try to summon skid back but it just doesnt work, so they gotta do this the old fashioned way.

Takes them months before they finally manage to track skid down again, but during that time the two manage to become friends. Claire opens up a lot about her fear of dying and how she feels she cant enjoy life because of how little time she has left. Henri decides his new goal in life is to heal her so that they can grow up and grow old together. He tells her as much and she gives him this gentle little smile and he internally is like "i would die for her" (he's in love but doesnt know it yet.)

Once Skid is back in and puppeting the body, Henri makes the choice to stick by Skid's side. He needs them to be close for when he finally figures out a way to heal her. And ya know the modern medicine of cough syrup with cocaine and mercury isnt gonna do it so he starts experimenting with magic instead.

He's 15 when he accidentally curses himself. Part of the curse effects his memory, so he doesn't actually know WHAT he did, and he doesn't even realize right away that he isn't aging. All he knows at first is that suddenly dark magics waaaay easier to do so he needs to be careful about that and also one of his eyes is fucked up. So now his secondary motive is also undo his own curse as well as heal Claire. Cuz itd suck if he finally heals Claire but isnt able to age himself, ya know?

Henri's a pretty chill guy and most of the cast view him as skid's 2nd in command and often her voice of reason(though he himself is prone to being impulsive and moody due to the whole technically still being 15 thing). The underlings also all view him as an older brother sort, because he's protective but often "hands off" in how deals with things but also hes just really tall. Lucky him he had his growth spurt before cursing himself to never age.

He tends to have a lot of memory issues, some days are worse than others. On his worst days he doesn't even remember how he met skid, but most days hes just sort of fuzzy and cant quite remember all 200 years he's spent by their side. His vision has also deteriorated with time, he cant see out of his left eye at all and can only make out colors and general shapes out with his left.

Even though he stuck with Skid for Claire's sake, Henri has actually become very close with skid after 200 years. Skid's secretive and doesnt actually like talking about themself honestly but depsite that he knows a lot about them. He knows skid has their own memory issues, and he's aware that Skid's not a full demon. He's heard skid's human name before but forgot it at some point and knows better than to ask about it. He's also very aware that Skid's prone to getting involved in shit which leads to them getting hurt magically and letting Claire run the body for a couple days every other decade. So they still get to see each other. These brief meetings is how Henri realized he was in love with Claire.

Bonus Info: Henri doesn't actually subscribe to modern labels and doesnt really consider himself as being into women or men. He just loves who he loves. (Hes asexual and panromantic)

Fun Fact: i came up with Henri and Skid when I was 12, but every other character in their story, including Claire, formed a slightly later.

I thouhgt the idea was good. Shin godzilla specificly is meant to represent natural disasters (from what ive heard) which I think is pretty cool sense godzilla hadnt gone down that path before. I watched it and was kinda disappointed by the way they carried out the idea becase the start is really cool! I like the way they designed his stages over time too.

My favorite scene in the movie is the one where shin is tearing throghue (throuh? I cant figure out how to spell it im sorry I swear im not a little kid im just bad at spelling) the streets like an earthquake would and destroying waterways and cars and nothing can stop his progress. I think that part really made him embody his metaphor.

Later in the movie thoghue hes just standing there and theres so many people in meetings trying to stop him its hard to keep track of or get attached to any human characters which is kinda disappointing becase of how well other godzilla movies design their humans.

(Godzilla 1954 is a great example of this, you can really get attached to the people in the movie. I feel like thats kinda the important part of godzilla and over time that aspect has been worn away.)

Im not saying I think that shin shouldve been destroying everything the whole time or anything, but having him just stand there uneffected by any guns or missiles they fire at him was really confusing to me.

I think maybe the point of the movie went over my head. Id like to hear what other people enjoyed about it becase I love godzilla and I want to be able to look back on the movie more fondly.

trying to imagine how a platonic alternate ending for sonny and dawn could have gone and the conclusion i keep coming to is that theres just no way there was enough room in this b-plot for things to be resolved in a satisfying way. for me a good ending to the sunny/dawn storyline would have to require at least a few things:

more time spent exploring their friendship dynamic. how did they meet? when did sonny develop feelings for dawn and why? was it just superficial attraction or something more based on their growing closeness as friends? did sonny ever worry about how his feelings might affect their friendship?

more time spent exploring the differences between fairies and elves, specifically from sunnys perspective. its pretty apparent just from visual cues that the elves are supposed to represent a sort of peasant class to juxtapose against the fairy royalty, but as ive talked about probably an annoying amount at this point, this is never addressed or even really necessary to the plot. theres no way it didnt affect their dynamic though. id love to see an interpretation of sonnys unrequited love that plays with this a little. maybe he sees dawns obsession with romancing young fairy men and fears what he sees as an inevitable future in which he is no longer an important part of her life. maybe his attachment to dawn alienates him from his fellow elves and he finds himself feeling caught between worlds.

explicit confirmation that the true love necessary to break the love potions doesnt need to be romantic in nature. since the movie steadfastly refuses to reveal more than the bare minimum on how the magic here works, heres how i think it should go. true love can be platonic but must be equal/requited between both parties to break the spell. dawn realizing she loves sonny doesnt break the spell. shes always loved sonny, as her best friend. in this version, its sonny realizing that his love for dawn as a friend is more important to him than his fear of rejection.

basically my ideal sunny/dawn platonic storyline (very briefly) would be like. sunny meets dawn when theyre both young and shes immediately very open and loving with him, not old enough yet to be bogged down by class/species distinctions, but while sonny cares for her as well hes much more aware of the imbalance and constantly worries about her losing interest in him. over time, and as his feelings for her develop, that fear only grows and he takes on his bombastic personality, playing the role of friend, confidant, wingman, personal jester, and whatever else is required just to keep her in his life. when she starts taking a (very intense) interest in dating, he realizes he cant put off confessing his feelings much longer, but dreads what he feels like will be a guaranteed rejection, marking the end of their friendship. from there the plot continues as normal until, in the final confrontation, the love potion influenced dawn takes a blow meant for bk and sonny realizes that the actions he took to try and keep her in his life could be the reason he ends up losing her forever. he tearfully confesses that he doesnt care any more if she returns his feelings, he just doesnt want to lose his best friend, and thats what ultimately snaps her out of it.

i think the arc should end sorta semi-ambiguously but hopefully, with dawn being naturally upset about the whole love potion thing but also understanding, realizing shes been ignorant to his worries and insecurities as well and grateful that theyre now finally back on the same page.

anyway thats my vision! i also think its p crucial to this arc for this version of strange magic to be ya know better about the racist coding involved in certain character designs but otherwise this is the gist.

ok ok thinking about the end of the toll because it’s SUCH A GOOD FUCKING ENDING. also thinking about Volta because I’m never not, anways the Toll first because I’ve read that book twice and it’s SIX HINDRAD AND TWENTY FIVE PAGES. And that’s, like a lot of pages, times two, SO. I think the ending is so so smart because first off, the vault, it ends all the scythes but not like ends, like it ends their jobs and the fact that Faraday still helps well the people die from the plagues is so cool and ALSO a reference to the beginning of the first book which is like my favorite thing ever it’s so smart and UGHHH also the fact that all the tonist bodies got supplanted if that’s how you spell it, AND CURIE CAME BACK. which makes me want to know who else got brought back out of everyone, I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE that the Thinderhead supplanted Volta into one of the bodies because it saw that he didn’t want to be a scythe and liked killing people and then supplanted-Volta was on Rowan and Citra’s planet and met again and it was happy because JESUS CHRIST THIS BOOK IS SO SAD I NEED PARTS OF IT TO BE HAPPY, Also Jeri and Greyson dumb little part “I’m going to miss you” “Me too” “Better go to your ship” “I’m not leaving?” “Me either” THEYRE SO STUPID, NO ONE GETS THEM LIKE ME YOU DONT UNDERSTANDDDD they’re so in love I CANT handle it and oh jdbdjsjbfjf my LORD, like Greyson not understanding the fact that “Oh! But then the Thundehead was so so lonely and it’s so sad because it had never been lonely before and the book was like “The Thunderhead had never been devastated before, but it found out what it meant to be truly inconcosible” obviously not a direct quote but I can’t remember and jsbgjfbfbfh I can’t it’s litterely so tragic and the fact that I’ve cried over this book is dumb but JESUS CHRIST DUDE how does someone just write that?? I’m super excited for the show because I want to see how it’s gonna portray the Thunderhead (even though there isn’t as much of it in the first book but whatever) and UGHFBBG I can’t I quite literally can not, it might be my second favorite character because HFHFHGBG it’s so sad and so well written and the fact that it’s supposed to be this all powerful being and still acts like how it does is so special to me no one gets this book like me YOU DONT UNDERSTAND Hi!

ok so I’m not saying that Greyson SHOUDNT have shut the Thunderhead out, it was reasonable considering that the Thunderhead USED Jeri’s body and basically possessed her (it’s not cloudy) which I don’t think was talked about enough still, or it just isn’t talked about enough in the aoas community in general but there’s barely a fandom so it’s whatever I GUESS. but it was like “Greyson saw the Thunderhead in Jeri’s eyes” WHATST THATS SO COOL AND NO ONE JUST GONNA TALK ABOUT IT?? like the Thunderhead USED JERI AS A BODY, A BODY FOR IT TO DECIDE IF HUMANITY AS A WHOLE WAS WORTH SAVING. it’s so oh my god idek the right word for that scene to be honest, then RIGHTFULLY Jeri was upset about it, I mean she did fucking PASS. OUT. afterwards, imagine you meet some random twink you think is close then this all knowing AI that rules the world but its favorite person is the twink POSSESS YOU, AND JUST USED YOUR BODY TO WATCH THE SUNRISE, and also touch Greyson cheek which is technically the exact moment Cirri was made fun fact!! But then it leaves and you just, collapse then even after she wakes up the book talks about how she freaks out and flips Greyson off of her and, is scared, it scared her, and Jeri is barely scared in the book, even when the place they had been staying with Citra was getting attacked and people had died and were still getting revived, they weren’t panicking or anything, but after the Thunderhead possess them they were scared ☹️

Hi Pen!! I reactivated my tumblr account from when i was in middle school so i could stalk the tea on BG 🥰. Just wanted to add first that i think BG is the most well written fanfiction i have ever read. Literally has me gasping and having to put my phone down and go for a walk around my apartment pondering LOL

i have several theories about where BG. Im still in the camp that Lester COULD be draco malfoy… i wont go into why i think that since itd take me like 30 minutes to write it out but ill believe it when i see it 👀.

i am wondering why Hermione recognizes and interacts in a normal way with Bathilda and the mystery woman (who i think is Euphemia Selwyn based off of what she was saying), but when tom enters her “dream” she doesn't recognize him and cant sustain an actual conversation. A part of me wants to believe that maybe Dumbledore put Bathilda up to this to try and catch hermione off guard and gain more info (i think Bathilda and Dumbledore are close friends). Or, maybe Euphemia is the one entering her dreams with bathilda which would be random. I feel like their presence is more than a conjuration of hermiones mind. I also think tom is able to go into her dreams from some spell he cast on her when she woke up in his arms from the nightmare with bellatrix carving her arm up (hermione heard him murmur something as she was falling asleep and couldnt catch what he said. A part of my thinks that tom was interested in what she is dreaming about so he can figure out more about her and could tell she has whacky dreams and thinks shes a seer).

but yeah, it was very interesting how the other woman hermione didnt recognize was able to perform magic, in a way, on hermione in her dream state by surrounding her in the flowers as soon as tom tried to talk to her. Maybe thats why tom couldn’t communicate? Because when hermione was surrounded in flowers by Lesters forced dream state in the previous chapter, she couldnt communicate with Tom then either.

Im not sure what Eupehmia? meant by “hes too early”… early for what 👀. Sounds not good… i dont know what side the fate is on, if she even has a side. But it makes sense why she is able to have that type of presence in hermiones dreams and seems to know whats going to happen.

ANYWAYS love the story, its so lovely! The characters are perfectly written and the dialogue is outstanding!!
