There’s no further emphasis on McCoy not knowing who he is, they could’ve easily met at the academy

And then it makes scenes where they’re oddly familiar with each other— like when Spock called on McCoy to thank him for “taking his side” when he threw Kirk off the ship, and McCoy’s subsequent “permission to speak freely”— wayy funnier

one of the kids i tutor is this very quiet, strait-laced football-and-cars 8th grader, and he's a little out of my wheelhouse because most of my experience is with k5 kids but i've been tutoring this kid for about four weeks and he was so reserved and stiff and quiet our first meeting i think all he ever said was 'yes ma'am' the entire lesson. and i know he's only here because his parents signed him up for writing lessons but i am so desperately scheming to get him to have fun and take interest and feel like its worth his time, like bro we gon get you something out of these lessons and get some of your personality and interests to show. but i have to be tricky about it. i had to think of something fun and cool disguised as something practical and useful because he's not going to want to engage with any of the silly things we use to motivate the younger kids. so at the end of our first day i asked him if he wanted to start developing a signature. and that was the first spark of interest i ever saw out of him, just the smallest crumbs of life in his eyes, so i've started teaching him cursive off-the-books and when we worked on writing his name today he was very moderately enthused but for him that's basically the equivalent of jumping up and down and it makes me SO happy to see my evil plan working

one of my favorite clark headcanons that i have (that is completely unsupported by canon) is that he's transgender by kryptonian standards. martha and jon kent raised him as a boy and as he grew up he never had any reason to doubt it at all, he was like yeah i'm a boy, makes sense. and then he gets to the fortress of solitude for the first time and it turns out how Gender works on krypton was just Different enough that clark doesn't really fit the kryptonian standards of whatever he was supposed to be. bonus points because this makes him feel like even more of an outsider as a kryptonian, even if he's the last one left.

every once in awhile i think about an idea @hautecl-re told me about (who is a very awesome person who you should follow asap) which is trans rella. and it makes so much sense on several levels.

(spoilers below!)

think about it: regardless of if she has womb envy or some other kind of dysphoria, it’s really clear she was wracked with guilt over the prince assassination attempt, so transitioning as a means to feel more comfortable with herself and distance herself from louis is plausible.

we don’t really see much of young rella outside of the one exposition cutscene and i don’t think we see the front side of her so for all we know she could’ve appeared more masculine which further gave forden reason to use her as a double to frame the evil twink.

also due to how the sex spectrum works, there can be a massive imbalance between testosterone and estrogen exposure during fetus growth (which is part of where the gay gene theory comes from), which is what often creates physical differences, be it on a build or genital front. the ishkia we see tend to have more typically feminine traits or are otherwise not as masculine, so there could be a case of pre-existing excessive estrogen that becomes more intense within male ishkia.

good chance i’m overthinking the last part, since a majority of character designs tend to be not really all that muscular. a couple roussainte, mainly bardon, are as broad as anyone gets outside of monsters. could also be because of euchronia initially being tokyo or at least shinjuku so stereotypical traits carried over. regardless, the genetic implications could 100% aid in transitioning, so even if they don’t have something like top surgery, transitioning is still possible.

tldr; trans rella is not only realistically a possibility but is also a goated idea and i believe in trans rella supremacy
