we were planning a fairly chill session for the London VtM game and uhhh

acting on information from the SI agent they kidnapped and Eli ghouled, Nat talks to Greyson about the ongoing security breaches and has to draw a hard bargain to get info. Eli, who definitely was not spying on this in mist form under the couch then goes to Gabi to see her take on the new info and uhhh, she tries to get him to sign a blood pact to swear secrecy*, reveals the leak is her childe Callum and head of security. The session ends with Eli staking Callum and burying him in the botanic gardens.

So. oh my god. Sometimes when I need to focus I put my phone away so I literally cannot look at it. And it kind of helps.

For the first time today, I tried doing this with yard work. Because I didn’t want to work in silence, I downloaded some mbmbam bonus content episodes that I have not listened to onto my old phone which doesn’t have internet connection or very many apps in general so it’s harder for it to distract me. So I headed out to do work, and I live on a sort-of ranch thing, so I had no internet or way to contact anyone.

I get out there and I start playing the first episode I had downloaded. Which I had never heard before. And had no idea about.

The thing is, I love the story of Joel and Ellie, and Pedro and Bella are absolutely perfection together, but honestly? The greatest strength of this show, this apocalyptic fungal nightmare, is that so far the most powerful moments have had little to do with the core story.  The main story, the beloved game come to life, is in great hands and it would be unsurprising if that was the sole focus of the showrunners, but instead it is the care and attention that have been lavished over the wider world which is bringing it to life in an incredibly riveting and engaging way.

The almost dryly prophetic scientist at the outset; the moment we witnessed the dread of those in the know as we passed the point of no return in Jacarta; and now we get the knowledge that despite everything, despite the infestation and humanity often showing each other their very worst, love and beauty exist.

This show, man... what a stunning piece of storytelling.
