From the article:
It’s difficult to overstate how rapidly Australians have embraced solar power, and how much it has exceeded expectations. In 2011, the forecast was that rooftop solar would eventually contribute 4 terawatt hours of electricity. In the context of the Australian grid, this was next to nothing – barely 2% of total generation. For some, it raised the question of whether it was really worth the cost. More than a decade on, that number has been eclipsed more than six times over in the five eastern states connected by the country’s main power grid. Rooftop solar panels connected to the National Electricity Market generated 24.6TWh over the last year of data. Put another way, homes have contributed 11.6% of electricity – nearly as much as wind farms, comfortably more than large-scale solar farms or hydro plants, and twice as much as gas-fired power. More than 3.7m households and small businesses have solar systems. It means more than one in three homes across the country generate their own power when the sun is out.

whisper of the heart pt II
bun's notes: I'm really glad you guys enjoyed the first one so much :3 hopefully you will like this one as well.
synopsis: Genshin boys voicelines about you!
content:Alhaitham/Kazuha/Thoma/Cyno x gender neutral reader (so they/them prns used) in this series, their vision is in tune with their emotions, part one explains it the best. Cyno was incredibly difficult i'm sorry if it sucks shsjsjs. Eng is not my first language so I'm sorry for any mistakes!
Part one
Alhaitham
About y/n:
"y/n and I go a long way back. They are a very intelligent, kind, and creative person. We studied under the same masters. Academic rivals? I wouldn't go as far as to say we were rivals per se, but the occasional competition between who got the highest score on an essay wasn’t out of the ordinary. Who won? Well, our scores wouldn't differ much at all actually. Even to the decimal, we usually got the same. When they asked our masters how such different essays could receive the same score. According to our masters, it seemed I lacked creativity in my writing, as they overdid the creative aspect. The masters words, not mine. Although I’ve read hundreds of books and essays in my life already, none could compare to the way y/n wrote theirs"
About vision:
"Unlike other people, I’d say I have decent control over my emotional elemental power, it at least doesn’t manifest in an obnoxious physical sense. That said, as much as I try to control it, the light of my vision starts to flicker and flutter to the rhythm of my heartbeat. So you can imagine the light show that starts once y/n enters my view *sigh* They think it’s, and I quote, "Adorable"...I suppose that makes it alright"
About relationship:
"Hah, You’re surprised I'm in a relationship? While It’s true that I don’t appear as the most approachable person out there, not that I mind, even I am not immune to love… While there’s no scientific proof out there that soulmates exist, against all logical sense, I’d like to believe y/n and I are."
Thoma
About y/n:
You haven't met y/n? Oh, they’re such a sweetheart! such a kind and inspirational soul. I’m sure you’ve seen them run around Inazuma City or Ritou before. They have the prettiest eyes and the most lovely smile. they run a lot of errands and help with general activities and festivals. In their free time, they usually help me out with housekeeping or acompany me to the market. You’re surprised I'm talking so lovingly of them? Well, of course, I would, they are my partner after all"
About vision:
"sigh I’ve had to switch to steel handle brooms instead of the normal wooden ones. It happened one too many times that I would be sweeping the floors and y/n would come up to me, resulting in small waves of fire to flutter around... Let’s just say, I’m glad my Lord has a hydro vision.
About meet cute!:
y/n and I both share a love for animals, I actually met them while they were nursing a bird back to its strength, the poor thing was still young and completely soaked because of the heavy thunderstorms. Word went around they were caring for it and I decided to take a look and see if they needed help, little did I know that I would be meeting the love of my life. We routinely feed the stray dogs and cats together when we’re both free:)"
Kazuha
About y/n:
" I was able to sense their presence in the wind long before I met them. A fragment of my soulmate in the form of a warm summer breeze, bearing the scent of roses and those familiar mapel leaves. As much as I wanted to follow it, I was still a wanted man after all. I couldn’t just return to Inazuma, no matter how much my heart cried for it.
At that time I started to keep a journal on what I was doing, what I was thinking of, and where in Teyvat I was whenever the wind carried them to me, So I could show it to them when we did finally meet. I never had the chance to finish that journal because our paths crossed sooner than I expected. Apparently, just as the wind carried them to me, it did the same for them. Fate has an interesting way of bringing people together. From the moment I stood face to face with them, I knew who they were and by the sparkle in their eye and the way they immediately rushed into my arms, I can guess it was the same for them. We’ve been wandering together ever since"
About vision:
"I’m well aware of how visions respond to your emotions. I don’t actively try to fight it, In a way, i think it’s quite romantic how my vision responds to seeing y/n by sending a breeze through their hair or twirling flower petals around them. They don’t seem to mind either"
About love language:
"From the moment y/n and I met, we decided to travel together. With every step we took, we got to know each other better, and with every rest under the starry night sky, our relationship grew stronger. They love nature as much as I do, and while I show my adoration for it in poems and music, they show their appreciation in colorful paintings and sketches. If we ever run out of paper on the road, I’m not against them using my arms as a canvas, the same way they allow me to ink love poems onto their skin. That way it doesn’t matter how far apart we are, we wear our love for each other on our skin
Cyno
About y/n:
"y/n? The fact that they are my partner is not something I tell many people, but since we are so close, yes, they are. They joined the forest rangers a while ago, I met them when I dropped of some books from the Akademiya Tighnari needed. And while I gave them to Tighnari, I decided it was a good time to tell my new joke…..Tighnari did not find it amusing, but y/n did. To this day, their laughs are still the sweetest melody I've heard, and I'm fortunate to hear them every day through my excellent jokes.
About vision:
"Please, don’t bring that up, I still feel bad about it. I didn’t know my vision would respond so strongly……fine, the first time y/n and I held hands, I got so...flustered I accidentally send a small shock wave where our hands intertwined. They weren’t hurt, but I still feel bad about it. It hasn’t stopped them from holding me though, I’m glad about that
About TCG:
"y/n and I are both quite the genius invokation tcg players, and the more rounds we play the more....energetic we get. Let's just say that Puspa cafe does have a noise limit....
For my birthday they got me a beautiful commissioned card with artwork of us on it. Having it around has become a good luck charm for me. I always keep it on the very top of my deck.
Thank you for reading angels!

Venti is more likely to be Phanes son than istaroths
WARING MANY TANGETS AHEAD, THIS POST IS KIND OF JUST ME POINTING OUT STUFF A BIT
It is said in venti's drip marketing that he is the prodigal son, the one in christantay that and I quote Kaeya has taken over my life, man — Friendly reminder that Venti is called the... (tumblr.com), this post here.
"The FUCKING prodigal son. Aka the christian parable in which a drunk son runs away from his family, spends all their money and eventually goes back and apologizes and IS TAKEN BACK IN BY THE PARENT."
Now while this isn't enough to disprove istaorth from being venti's parent I would like to point out venti's connection with death. Venti doesn't have connections to only time.
So we know venti has connection to shade as wind and time is both worshiped together. but doesn't have connection to time as he is associated with death as well. So I would like to propose that venti is Pahnes heir. As that would explain death and time connections.
To help build up this theory I would like to look towards the types of artifacts that we get. A feather of death, A flower of life, a goblet of space, a time measuring device and a crown. Which people have theorized to represent Phanes and the shades. With Phanes having authority over these aspects of Teyvat. If venti was the heir it would support him having connections with time and death
Thing to note. Barbatos the Goetia demon is said to when summon appear with Four kings and legions. Interesting. Looks to venti also having Four winds.
Anyways my biggest support to the theory that phanes is ventis parent is the elements that Anemo has reactions with and what is associated with them.
Hydro as we know has a strong association with life, with the primordial see, plus the healers.
Pyro seems to have a decent amount of death connected with them.
And elctro has had Istaroth visiting the nation of Inazuma twice, plus with a general theme of eternity, and time passing, not passing.
cant say much for cryo right now but what do all these elements have in common is that they can be swirled by ameno. I belive a simalar idea can be applied with venti using death and time. he is simply swirling the elements.

‘Three New York Cities’ Worth of Power: AI Is Stressing the Grid
https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/ai-data-center-boom-spurs-race-to-find-power-87cf39dd
Across the nation, utilities are worried about expanding the overburdened power grid, citing high costs and concerns about commitment from data center projects
Tech companies scouring the country for electricity to power artificial intelligence are increasingly finding there is a waiting list.
In many places the nation’s high-voltage electric wires are running out of room, their connection points locked up by data centers for AI, new factories or charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
A mad dash to lock up available power has ensued.
The tech industry is pinballing from one market to the next looking for places with the capacity to connect campuses that would consume up to a gigawatt of power—about as much as San Francisco uses. Some requests are as much as four to five times as large as that.
But wires are getting so crowded that some prospective data center customers—which request far more power than other users—are being told they may have to wait until the next decade to get the power they are seeking. Others are receiving less power than they expected.
In Salt Lake City, the data center industry says there is a moratorium for larger projects, with the market closed to new business. Utility PacifiCorp says “significant levels of transmission and generation” could be needed for the larger projects and it is evaluating requests while avoiding spreading costs to other customers.
*** Yeah, all data centers. Nothing to do with removing dams and hydro power, or killing natural gas off across the nation.. Nope, it's all data centers..
Stupid data centers..

When William Ruto was sworn in as Kenya’s fifth president in September 2022, he used his inauguration speech to demand an end to humanity’s “addiction to fossil fuels” and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to reach 100% clean energy by 2030. Kenya is not far off this target today.
In 2021, 81% of Kenya’s electricity generation came from the low carbon sources of geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar power. Over half of this low carbon electricity came from geothermal energy, which Kenya has in abundance. So much in fact, that excess geothermal energy is released during the night when electricity demand is low. Installed geothermal capacity in Kenya could be increased by at least eightfold, which could open opportunities for scaling up green manufacturing capacity or exporting excess electricity to neighbouring countries.
Renewable rollouts have substantially improved energy access. In 2013, around 28% of Kenyans had access to electricity. By 2020, this had risen to over 71%. This was achieved as the population grew by over seven million over the same period, while the rate of urbanisation continued to gather pace. According to the World Bank, barely one million Kenyans had electricity in 1990 [which, back then, was approximately just 5% of the population].
Ruto’s words, and Kenya’s actions, are timely due to the backdrop they are made against. Amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the vacuum created in global energy markets, European leaders and multinational fossil fuel firms have launched a ‘dash for gas’ across Africa, where a raft of new oil and gas projects, as well as old ones, are being given the green light. At COP27, Ruto kicked back against the dash for gas, stating that “we [Kenya] have taken a position that as a country we are going green and we are well on course.”

Dragon Alhaitham Cytham AU that my friend @durasposts helped inspired me to write hehe (it was their idea! I just wrote it as a fic :3)
~
There was a fire. Alhaitham managed to grab a single book from his study, the only one he knew that he had to protect, even if it cost a limb.
A dragon's treasure is a precious thing. Their hoard could be anything and for Alhaitham it was his books.
He wasn't sure how the fire started.
Books are perfect kindling so all it took was one flame.
With the book clutched to his chest, his tail flipped back and forth. He clutched his book tighter as someone tried to pull his arm away.
His wings were folded on his back and usually he would spread them to get the assailant out of his face, but...
He snapped back to reality to see Cyno pulling a yelling Kaveh away.
He shut up as soon as Cyno crouched down and watched Alhaitham slowly untense.
Carefully, he moved Alhaitham’s left arm before frowning. It was hardly unnoticeable, but that brought Alhaitham fully back.
He hissed in pain.
"Do we have a Hydro vision user nearby?" Cyno called and when no one answered, he tried again, "What about Cryo?"
There was a shuffling in the gathered crowd as Layla nervously ran forward. Soon enough Cyno had some melted ice that was slowly getting warmer. Once it was cool enough, he cleaned Alhaitham burned arm and singed wing.
Next was loose bandaging until they could get him to the bimarstan.
"Don't worry.* Cyno reassured, as Kaveh checked him over, "I'll be the one looking into this."
Alhaitham nodded and Kaveh grabbed his right hand. Together they walked towards the bimarstan.
~
Only when Alhaitham was done getting the burns cleaned and bandaged did Kaveh let his hand go.
Just to grab his face, smushing his cheeks and looking at him with tears in his eyes before pulling him into a tight hug.
Alhaitham was shocked and tense at first, but soon enough melted into the hug. He found his walls breaking as he sobbed into the other man's shoulder.
Kaveh ran his fingers through his hair and murmured softly to him. When he calmed down enough, he planted a single kiss on his forehead.
That's when Alhaitham noticed Cyno standing in the doorway.
He quickly said his goodbyes and left them alone.
Cyno cleared his throat and spoke first, "I know a dragon's hoard is important to them..."
He handed him a well loved book. A 'King of Invokations' book to be exact.
Running his hand over the paper back's tearing covering, he had a soft smile on his face, but...
"I can't possibly take this from you Cyno."
Cyno thought for a moment, "I'm letting you borrow it. Until you can get your hoard back."
Alhaitham nodded stiffly then looked back at the book.
"Thank you..."
~
It turned out that was simply only the beginning. Now, Cyno came almost every week to give him a new book.
An excuse on his tongue, the truth swallowed for the sake of sparing the reminder.
A "Saw this and thought of you" or a "Found this on my trip out to the desert".
Kaveh had drawn up and had started working on a new study. More fireproof he claimed.
A candle was found in the ashes or what was a candle.
Alhaitham could remember that Kaveh brought it home that day.
It was marketed at an electric candle, but whatever had been used as a power source had malfunctioned.
The scholar who made it apologized profusely as well as Kaveh. Alhaitham to the latter simply made the decision that for now on they will only be buying wax candles.
As he was thinking about this, his wings drooped as he frowned. He had been doing his required daily stretching. Carefully, mindful of the healing areas.
Someone behind him cleared their throat and Alhaitham glanced behind him.
Cyno.
He found himself smiling for some reason.
Said man held two books in his hands.
"Tighnari heard about what happened and offered these two books to give you."
Alhaitham took them carefully, looking at the titles. Both were about flora and fauna. One Sumeru specific, the other was a general one for every reigon.
"Send him my thanks for me."
Cyno nodded, "I will."
He spotted a bandage on Cyno's hand suddenly and a chill ran down his spine. His tail swished.
"What happened there?"
"Ah." Cyno seemed caught off guard, "I went up against... a pyro vision wielder recently."
Alhaitham eyes him suspiciously, but let it go with a nod.
~
Before he knew it, Kaveh had finished the new study and Alhaitham started filling the shelves with his new book hoard.
Of course, his most important book, one with a note from his Grandmother, goes on his new desk.
Except... he couldn't find it.
It was gone.
Cyno found him with all the new books pulled off their new shelves and him crying quietly in the corner, wings wrapped around himself.
He set the book he was holding on the desk and crouched down. Almost instantly Alhaitham opened his wings and upon seeing Cyno, he brought him in. He clung on to him like his life depended on it.
"What's wrong..?" He nervously asked, "No need to tail me though."
Alhaitham blinked and then gave Cyno a small smile. Just his presence made him feel better.
"My book..." he mumbled.
Cyno froze.
"I have something to show you."
Alhaitham wasn't sure he liked this.
"I won't let this dragon any longer." He attempted to lighten the mood, but Alhaitham’s tail just started swishing back in forth nervously.
He picked up the book he had brought.
It was his. The one his grandmother gifted him.
"I fireproofed it." Cyno explained, "It took some trial and error, but I am Spantamad graduate."
Alhaitham held it in his hands.
He gently placed it on his desk before kissing Cyno.
"Sorry... I just..." Alhaitham shrunk back, uncharacteristically nervous.
A blush was on both of their faces.
Cyno smiled, a familar smirk when he cane up with a pun, "Well, I can't tail a lie to you."
Alhaitham held his breath.
"I treasure you."
Alhaitham embraced him.
"Thank you." He spoke softly, "I love you."
In that moment, he realized that while he thought his hoard had been his treasure, it wasn't. He would trade anything and everything for Cyno.
But he didn't have to.
Alhaitham smiled to himself and together they put the books on the shelves.
And on his desk lay two books, both well loved.

Harsh Realities
This morning I came to grips with the fact that if I want to grow my client base, I need to do some LinkedIn marketing. I also need to create a business page there and tie it all together. Hopefully, maybe that will generate some leads.
Later on today I also have an introduction zoom meeting with the nice people I’m trying to get a SBA loan from. So smile big, be professional, and please give me money — I have excellent credit!!
As an added bonus, when I woke up at 6:02 this morning, I took a sip of water from my hydro flask. Sadly I didn’t think twice or even look at the sippy mouthpiece, and an earwig was inside getting a drink. Said earwig ended up in my mouth and nipped at my tongue until I quickly spat it out.
So I have that going for me.
Plus I’m going to need to learn to be social and engaging on that other, more professional social media outlet. Shit.

New Zealand has serious problems with its power supply. There are three underlying reasons: the weather, a flawed electricity market and a drive for ‘net zero’.
Sixty-five per cent of New Zealand’s electricity is provided by hydropower, and the remainder by geothermal, gas, coal, wind and some solar. Though hydropower is often seen as the one form of renewable energy which is not plagued by intermittency of supply, it sadly isn’t true. In a dry year, hydro’s ability to deliver falls away, and we lose about 10 per cent of our generation. In the past, we always tried to have the hydro reservoirs and coal stockpile full by the end of summer to guard against this possibility. When we switched to an electricity market, this was forgotten.
This year, we failed to refill the reservoirs, and levels are now unusually low. We are muddling along for the moment, but this is a difficult position from which to recover and there are likely to be blackouts at some point in the future.
The ability of our fossil fuel power stations to step into the gap has been severely restricted. We used to get 20 per cent of our electricity from gas-fired power stations, but six years ago, as part of their decarbonisation policy, the previous government banned further gas exploration, and we are now desperately short of gas. The new government is encouraging new exploration but we won’t see the results for several years.
We also have a single coal fired station with insufficient coal in its stockpile because our electricity market does not pay for the cost of maintaining an adequate stockpile.
The situation has been made worse by poor market design. New Zealand was one of the pioneers of electricity markets, and chose a risky model which has proved to be seriously flawed.
As a result, the problems this year have led to wholesale market prices rising to ridiculous levels of as much as £1/kWh. This has already caused some factories to shut down; others are under threat. The politicians are beginning to realise that the energy crisis could have serious effects on consumers, and there is speculation that they will be forced to intervene. This could mean instructing our gas and coal-fired power stations to run flat out day and night – which won’t make much difference because of the lack of fuel. Failing this, the only solution in the short term is rolling blackouts. and a public conservation campaign.
How did we get to this situation?
Firstly, the electricity market is simply not fit for purpose. The underlying propositions are that ‘electricity is a commodity like any other’ and that ‘when the price goes up, the demand goes down’. But electricity is not a commodity like any other, because it does not have an alternative or significant price elasticity. It isn’t a market that Adam Smith would recognise. As two departing CEOs said, the way to make money is to keep the system on the edge of a shortage. Which means that disaster is inevitable if a dry year occurs. And that is exactly what has happened.
The blind pursuit of ‘Net Zero’, has driven the closing down of gas exploration and the desire to shut down our coal fired station, even though it is doing a vital job in keeping the lights on.
The long-term problem
There has now been some rain on the hydro lakes and we are temporarily out of danger – assisted by the fact that the power companies have paid a stiff price to a major industrial gas user to shut down so that they can have its supplies.
But the long-term problem is still there: empty storage lakes that need to be refilled, not a lot of snow pack to melt in the springtime, declining supplies of gas, and the need to import 30 shiploads of coal and truck it to the power station. None can be achieved in the time available. The imminent shutdown of a 380 MW combined cycle power station, because it cannot find a secure gas supply for the next 20 years or so, adds to the problem.
Instead we are placing our faith in more wind and solar power. The price will skyrocket when it is in short supply, but that will not help the wind and solar farms’ accounts as that is when they have very little to sell. When wind and sun are abundant, prices will crash. This means that the wind and solar farms under construction and planned will not make enough money to pay for their construction and operation. New Zealand does not directly subsidise wind and solar power so we can’t even be sure that the generators will continue building them.
To be economic, wind and solar must be supported by low-cost long-term storage for days, weeks and months. There is no technology that can deliver this right now. New Zealand’s hydro reservoirs have huge capacity – approaching 10 per cent of a year’s electricity supply – but this storage capacity is already fully required to deal with the annual variations in hydro output. It cannot be used to back up solar and wind. Batteries simply can’t be used at national grid scales: they are too expensive by a factor of 50 or so.
Worse still the expectation is that electricity demand is going to increase rapidly, driven by domestic and industrial heat and road transport being electrified (although the extent to which this will actually happen in the face of rising power prices is debatable). Whether electric heating and transport arrive or not, we are already getting more and more data centres, which are a 24-hour per day load and need a reliable supply.
So the load will go up but we will be less able to keep the lights on when wind and solar are not delivering. Australia is 2000 km away, so there is no chance of importing from there, even if they did have power to spare, which they don’t.
We could build more geothermal stations, but that takes time, especially as the oil rigs they need to drill production wells have all departed overseas. There is probably 1000 MW so of identified geothermal potential, and there is the possibility that more could be found with exploration. But this is not a quick solution.
The only quick solution is to buy gas turbines and run them on diesel: not a nice prospect.
In the long-term we could consider more hydro generation, but that is blocked by many environmentalists, even though there is probably 2000 MW of potential left in the South Island. For those who do not believe in dangerous carbon-driven climate change – or who consider that atmospheric carbon levels will rise beyond desirable levels anyway due to China and India and that it is therefore pointless for Western nations to spend huge sums reducing their emissions – more coal and gas generation are an obvious solution but they are not quick.
For those who believe that man-made global warming is real and dangerous, and that it is worthwhile for the Western nations to cut emissions alone, we could be urgently considering nuclear power. This is the only practical and economic way of having reliable electric power with low carbon emissions. I suspect that in spite of a long-held opposition to nuclear armed and propelled ships, the New Zealand public are more sympathetic to nuclear power than they are believed to be.
Whatever happens, New Zealand faces a very uncertain situation in the next few years with an increasing risk of major shortages and a major increase in domestic electricity prices.
The implications for other countries
I suspect that this is the writing on the wall for all countries that have pursued net zero and ignored the importance of keeping the lights on at a reasonable price. The UK is already relying on interconnectors for about 10 per cent of its electricity and would be in serious trouble if Europe was unable to provide backup power when UK wind and solar are not delivering.
For as long as Europe and other countries have net zero as a prime objective, electricity blackouts and high prices are inevitable. As we are planning to make our entire society electrically powered, this is a bleak prospect.

The Outside World of Between Bramble & Briar.
On a continent, much like Europe, on an island country, much like Britain, is a county of rolling hills and dales. Home to settlements shrouded in a seemingly endless woodland, there live the Rohesian people of Between Bramble & Briar.
GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING
Country:~ Isle of Rohese ~"isle of the rose"
County:~ Dorndale ~"valley of thorns."
Cities:~
Dornbury, "borough of thorns.
Where the Rivers, Dourwent, and Swell converge sits the towering factory that runs the city's largest industry, the backbone of the county's wealth, Brusherby's Nutmill.
The location of Florian's Club: The Sanctuary.
Haeggham, "home of the hedge people."
The location of Lillie's University. An hour from Dornbury by train.
Towns & Villages:~
Swellford: a riverside town where a large weekly market is held. Many gather there to enjoy shopping, the tranquil riverside walk and quaint restaurants and cafés.
Malton: the town from which Arthur's mother hails. Home to the county's largest Malthouse and Mill, Burton Malthouse.
Briarbury: the village where Arthur's family home, Stanley House, stands. Its reputation is somewhat upper-class nowadays. Arthur still lives there. He takes the train home from the city. It's a short walk into Hedgley Woodhouse.
Hedgley Woodhouse: the hamlet where the Blackthorns live in Downey Cottage. The place Arthur would truly call home.
ROHESIAN CULTURE
Faith:~
Only in the last century was the Romulan Church disbanded in Rohese. Most clergy have fled, most returning to the Holy City of Albion. The rejection of the Romulan faith was enacted by the people's revolt and later sanctioned by the Parliament in reaction to the discovery of the Church's financial extortion of the Isle and Bank.
Elder folk have slowly reignited faith in Woden, Frig, etc, and now that new generations are aware of old beliefs, what has been named the Ageless Church has taken hold of youth culture. Those who practise the old faith honour nature instead of the previously worshipped Wolf, Romulus, Prophet of the Romulan Church.
Currency:~
Six centuries ago, the Romulan Church brought their Latini currency from Albion and gently converted the Rohesian market until the Sacer became the Isle's currency.
The Church's monetary scandal has since brought about a currency reform and the reminting of Shilli (Scillingas/Gold Shillings) and Coppar's (Copper pennies), the previous currency of the Isle. Paper money is simply called 'notes'. They are generally called "fivers" and "tenners." Twenty Shilli notes aren't used much by the general public.
Cuisine:~
Although spices are not commonplace on Rohese, wild herbs and sea salt are used as seasonings in native recipes. Due to livestock not being farmed, meat is rarely eaten, and if so, only on special occasions. However, fish, mushrooms, eggs, vegetables, berries and native fruit (apples, plums, pears, etc.), grains and nuts, their milk and cheese (and sometimes dairy products) are part of a standard Rohesian diet. Bread and Potatoes are considered staple foods.
Language:~
Although the story is written in Modern English, a dialect similar to Olde English and Welsh would be more prevalent in how Roh-folk speaks. However, as is to be expected, the Latin of the Romulan Church has influenced people's language.
Industry & Technology:~
Industry on Rohese is generally coal or hydro-powered. Trains, trams, and buses are the most prevalent forms of transport.
Few own cars, and as such, the market never really took off. Automobiles remain quite simplistic pieces of engineering (think: 1900s era)
Cellphones and computers have yet to be invented. House phones and public telephone boxes are standard ways to communicate outside the postal service.
Tag list:~ @caxycreations
Let me know if you'd like to be on the BBB tag list too.

SANGONOMIYA KOKOMI
illuminated coral palace
Fluff
(song linked^^ feel free to listen to it. linked because of the same title)
MAIN MASTERLIST | HYDRO MASTERLIST
.
Summary: Trying to keep a relationship a secret is hard enough, but what about a relationship with the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island? Well...
Warnings? Nope! Apart from Kokomi favouritism.
sorry for the late publishing, i have been lacking motivation, and i have recently become mentally exhausted. This has been in my drafts since January 22nd (2023). Sorry.
Contains Gorou, and my wife since 2.1, Sangonomiya Kokomi of course!
Mentions characters above, as well as Traveller and Paimon.
Being in charge of an entire island is tiring, but the thing that is more tiring is keeping a relationship hidden from the public, even the closest of people. And that was the current situation for the current Divine Priestess, Sangonomiya Kokomi.
She currently sat at her desk in her private study in the illuminated coral palace, a peaceful and calm area where all of the island's affairs were at her fingertips. But as of late, she had been working herself sick, staying up late to the early hours of the next day, you knew it was not good for her. But now, as she sat at the desk, she looked outside the window, looking down at the town below, which is surrounded by waterfalls and local wildlife. The palace stood out from the entire island, looking over everything to ensure everything was in line.
With the number of affairs to do constantly piled up for her, she did not like the amount of stress that could make her sick. The thoughts clouded her mind. But it would soon be blown away as you walked into the study with a wicker basket on your arm containing things from the market. You were happy that no one in the town suspected who you were, as you would not be able to get anywhere without people crowding you from all directions. But there was only one person who knew who you really were.
"(Y/N), you're back" Kokomi smiled as she looked up to see you walk over, she stood up, and you did a small bow, "enough with the formalities, (Y/N), you don't have to do that every time we meet" she smiled again.
"But it's only good manners," you said simply with a shrug. You do have a point, Kokomi realised, as the amount of power and status she has, the people acknowledge and honour it, “and you deserve the praise of it all.”
“Oh” she blushed lightly, looking away to the side with her hands behind her back, “don’t flatter yourself.”
After she had finished her most recent work of affairs for the island, she cleared it off her desk and put your basket on top of it, it was about lunch time and you both needed to eat. It contained both of you favourite things. But no fish. No. No. No.
But small meetings like this definitely make you two appreciate each other. Like you would talk about the smallest of things in great detail. Or deep conversations about what you like love about each other. Or how much you love each other in general.
No matter how deep those conversations may be, the moment can easily be shattered by a knock at the door and then it opened practically immediately after.
“Her Excellency?!” Gorou exclaimed as he practically came running through the doorway, “oh! (Y/N)? I-I am so sorry if I interrupted something” he said with a bow, he knew there was something going on between you and Kokomi, but not in a relationship way, “but Her Excellency, Captain of Swordfish Two has arrived for the talks.”
“Excellent” Kokomi smiled, “I will be there in a moment.” Gorou bowed before he left the room again, quietly closing the door behind him.
Your beloved turned back to you, “I’m sorry, my Sango Pearl. But my duties call, I promise we will continue when I come back.”
After she left, you both hoped that Gorou didn’t suspect a thing. Even the traveller. But the traveller may have suspected something when you were brought up in a conversation one time.
But the traveller is busy a lot of the time, why would they think about this? Or, do they think about it at all?
By the Shrine, Kokomi, Traveller and Paimon walked back to the secret base after the peace talks.
“Thank you for everything. With your help, peace has been restored on Watatsumi Island once more” Kokomi smiled, it was obvious that the days activities had taken an effect on her, she looked very tired.
“How are you energy levels?” The traveller asked as they took her current appearance into account.
“Recovering, slowly but surely... I should be raring to go before too long” she replied, “Today was a reminder that I don't cope well in situations with lots of people. I've improved, but I still get nervous when more than a handful of people are involved. I think I might get Gorou to handle the negotiations next time...”
“You did an admirable job.”
“…do you think so?”
They both nodded.
Kokomi sighed, “to be honest, I'm still a long way off what's expected of a Divine Priestess. In the past, I was concerned only with winning the war, restoring peace, and making sure everyone could live a happy life.
But I realize now that wasn't going far enough. People have all kinds of aspirations, and just as many measures of happiness.
I have a long way to go. But that's okay. If I can't make the journey in one giant leap, I'll just have to settle for taking it one small step at a time...
In short… I still have some maturing to do. Hm.. could you.. stay here on Watatsumi Island for a while longer? To keep me company until (Y/N) comes back. I’ve missed them today.” She leaned against her hand with a small smile.
She seemed happy and relieved when she thought and mentioned your name.
There is when the other two had their suspicions.
Who’s to say she wants to make you her wife/husband someday? 👀
I suggest keeping your eye out.

i want to know more about griff so badly. what's his deal. also he is hot as hell. just to be frank
LMAOOOO you are based af. heres my existing griff lore
so basically he was born in derahdun, india BUT as a small child he fell off a cliff (i do have an episode where he reunites w his childhood bff and his mom in s4 or 5) and Somehow ended up being found by his adopted father (ringo) in dublin, ireland through a situation i have yet to properly flesh out LOL. anyway his dad happens to be a mob boss and once griff is older he works for his dad as an assassin along w his 2 younger sisters (rose + poppy, theyre twins btw LOL) who ringo also adopted. so that goes on for like a few years or so until griff is now around 18-19 or so and decides he actually wants to go to college to study psychiatry and Eventually gets his phd but the job market is abysmal and hes somehow unable to find a job. after a couple years he meets grem completely by chance and grem tells him abt hydro and for some reason griff is like yeah ok and Now works for hydro. i think hes like. the 3rd person that hydro hires? idk. anyway after around like 6 or so years of working for hydro its less like a job and more like a vague found family thing now ÷)
also some general stuff i talked abt this vaguely but he and pixie are besties just bc pixie sees him as sort of a guardian/big brother figure + hes the only one who bothered to learn to communicate w her (shes selectively mute, also shes scary and fucked up and nobody else likes her lol) ^_^ also hes a very good artist but doesnt draw that often bc he doesnt really have time for it
and btw he wears his mask thing bc Originally it had 2 purposes when he was working for ringo 1. it was so he wouldnt be recognized when commiting generic mob crimes and 2. when hes Not doing that it served to be a way to make him more approachable bc his face is badly scarred bc u know. now its That and also mostly just bc hes had it for so long it feels weird to Not wear it. also theres no griffon colonies in ireland so hed never seen another one until he was like 32-35ish. tgeres an episode or 2 abt that lol. and BECAUSE of this he has a huge cultural disconnect w other griffons and he cant fly and probably never will just bc he was never taught. i mean ringo did Try but hes a rabbit so obviously that didnt work. its a very big issue for him thats more prominent like post s4 bc i feel like itd be really sad to see how hes Supposed to look/act vs how he actually does bc he was raised so differently ÷( i love him hes one of my favorite main villains
also oldddddd pics his sisters i tried to find a pic of ringo too but i dont have any uuuugh i literally never draw them lol
#ocs#im sure theres shit im forgetting but what everrr#also i think hes hot too. why do u think i draw him like that

Less than a decade ago, Alberta relied on coal for the majority of its electricity needs.
Today, the province gets more power from wind, solar and hydro.
That's according to the latest data from the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
"For the first time, renewable generation, at 12.6 per cent of total generation, provided more electricity than coal," reads the AESO annual market statistics report for 2022.
"When you look back in time, it's a pretty amazing and rapid change for our province," said Blake Shaffer, an economist with the University of Calgary, who specializes in electricity markets and climate policy. [...]

Mega Schemes
Huge hydraulic schemes are made possible by advanced modern civil engineering techniques. They require vast international contracts that are only possible at the level of central governments, international free floating capital and supranational government organisations. The financiers borrow money and lend it at commercial rates, so they favour largescale engineering projects that promise increasing production for export markets at the expense of local subsistence economies, with disastrous social and environmental effects. Cash crops destroy settled communities and cause pollution of soil and water. For instance, Ethiopia’s Third Five-Year Plan brought 60% of cultivated land in the fertile Awash Valley under cotton, evicting Afar pastoralists onto fragile uplands which accelerated deforestation and contributed to the country’s ecological crisis and famine. There’s a vicious circle at work. Development needs money. Loans can only be repaid through cash crops that earn foreign currency. These need lots more water than subsistence farming. Large hydraulic schemes to provide this water are development. Development needs money. And so it goes.
Large-scale projects everywhere are the consequence and justification for authoritarian government: one of America’s great dam-building organisations is the US Army Corps of Engineering. Stalin’s secret police supervised the construction of dams and canals. Soldiers such as Nasser of Egypt and Gadafi of Libya and military regimes in South America have been prominent in promoting such projects. Nasser built the Anwar High dam in 1971. The long-term consequences have been to stop the annual flow of silt onto delta land, requiring a growing use of expensive chemical fertilisers, and increased vulnerability to erosion from the Mediterranean. Formerly the annual flooding washed away the build-up of natural salts; now they increase the salt content of irrigated land. The buildup of silt behind the dam is reducing its electricity generating capacity; the lake is also responsible for the dramatic increase in water-borne diseases. Nationalism leads to hydraulic projects without thought to what happens downstream in other countries. The 1992 floods of the Ganga-Brahmaputra-Barak system killed 10,000 people. 500m people live in the region, nearly 10% of the world’s population, and they are constantly at risk from water exploitation and mismanagement. Technological imperialism has replaced the empire building of the past: large-scale hydro projects are exported to countries despite many inter-related problems – deforestation, intensive land use and disputes and so on. Large-scale water engineering projects foment international disputes and have become economic bargaining counters, for example the Pergau dam in Malaysia. The British Government agreed to spend £234m on it in 1989 in exchange for a £1.3bn arms deal. In 1994 the High Court ruled that the aid decision was unlawful but these kinds of corrupt deals continue.
In Sri Lanka the disruption caused by the Mahawelli dams and plantation projects resulted in the forcible eviction of 1 million people and helped maintain the insurgency of the Tamil Tigers that resulted in thousands of deaths as they fought government forces from the late 1980s onwards. In 1993 the Marsh Arabs of southern Iraq were threatened by Saddam Hussein’s plans to drain the area – the most heavily populated part of the region. Many of the 100,000 inhabitants fled after being warned that any opposition risked death. Selincourt estimated that 3 million people would lose their homes, livelihoods, land and cultural identity by giant dam projects in the 1990s. The Kedung Ombo dam (Indonesia) displaced 25,000; the Akasombo dam (Ghana) 80,000; Caborra Bassa (South Africa) 25,000. Three dams in Laos alone will have displaced 142,000 people. The proposed Xiao Langdi dam in China would displace 140,000; the Three Gorges project 1.1 million people. Only war inflicts a similar level of human and environmental destruction, yet large dam projects have a chronic record in delivering water and power, or eliminating flooding in downstream valleys.

Well now I gotta ask. what DO you use for your skin
ok so i am about to become insane. here is my Current routine after. too long of wading through skinfluencer bullshit. all drugstore brands because one who has the money and two no one needs the expensive shit. and no retinol im fucking 18
i have combination, acne prone skin and excoriation disorder and my goals are to get my dryness and acne under control so im not always walking around with blood under my fingernails etc etc. overall the active ingredients that have been the most helpful are salicylic and hyaluronic acid. the actual info is under the cut because theres Too much
i use the cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser (water based for classification reasons, it just has oil in it) in the morning. i used to use the cerave normal foaming cleanser but i switched pretty quick because it doesnt dry me out as much
at night i use the neutrogena hydro boost exfoliating cleanser. pretty solid, nothing to complain about and i like the smell but i likely won't repurchase now that i have non-physical exfoliants in my routine because physical ones can lead to irritation
the clearasil stubborn acne control 5 in 1 pads with salicylic acid have been crazy helpful for generally keeping my acne under control. i still have tiny blackheads but thats not something i really give a shit about so no complaints here really
the elf pure skin toner, my newest addition a few days ago, has really exceeded my expectations like i mentioned in the og post. it's marketed as a soothing, hydrating toner but it does have glycolic acid which isnt mentioned which means some people dont end up liking it. i read reviews before buying shit though so im having an awesome time with it, i had two Awful pimples and various active breakouts before starting using it and currently a whole third of my face has No active breakouts which is Insane for me
the new cerave moisturizing gel has been really nice, does its job and the niacinamide has done good work on reducing the appearance of my pores in the relatively short time ive been using it
i use the cetaphil moisturizing cream for dry skin on my cheeks bc theyre dry And in spots over any places ive picked at badly to give it the best chance it can get at healing
ok thats it. hope anyone who stayed this long enjoyed. if anyone ever wants advice dm meeeee im obv not a pro but i have a hyperfixation and nothing but free time
