Omega when she gets to jail and realizes that she now has to big sister four other children. One of which is nowhere near her age.

Going to try and condense some more serious thoughts about these episodes down below so I can avoid spoiling someone as much as possible and not post a dozen times. I don’t want to miss tag any one of those.

Jex/Jek?? I can’t completely remember his name, but the mirialan kid is for sure not going to trust her at all. Can’t say much for the pantoran kid since they haven’t shown much of them so far, but Eva is going to love her.

I think the mirialan kid is definitely going to be skeptical of Omega’s prior knowledge of the facility, Emerie, and why they’re there. Although he might overlook these things hanging on her promise that her brothers will get her, and in turn them, out of there. I can’t help but wonder what Omega and the others will think after about a week and there still not being a rescue. (These two are assuming that she will be placed with the other force sensitive children. Although she may be moved since her blood actually works for project Necromancer)

Crosshair is definitely going to hear it from Hunter. ESPECIALLY after he threw Hunter’s past failure to keep her out of Tantiss in his face. What I think will weigh on his conscience more though is the fact he thinks she’ll be alone this time. In a way she definitely will, but I have no doubt that he realizes he was probably the highlight of her day. He was probably the one thing that kept her hopeful even if he tried to talk down on her and get her to leave. Yes, she had hope that Hunter and Wrecker would find her, but she also needed someone there with her. A familiar face and not someone who just revealed they were your sister out of the blue. Her situation has changed, but Crosshair doesn’t know that. The Crosshair guilt is going to be so real in these last episodes.

Switching gears, CX agents are always a cool and interesting topic for me. While the identity of CX-2 isn’t usually as engaging, I have to say that I’ve drifted from the standpoint of “there’s no way that’s Tech” to “it’s a possibility” over the course of the last two episodes. I’ve seen some fun ideas for who it is otherwise. Personally, I think that they’re probably just another copy paste man with no autonomy anymore.

ANYHOW! I haven’t seen anyone talk about it much, but the scene with Hemlock reviewing the CX agent data and the capsule has me thinking a little harder on their creation/conditioning. The way Hemlock talks about the other operatives as well. “The others aren’t ready to join you” (paraphrasing) seems to show that after the mental conditioning through obviously brutal means, it takes a load of time to physically condition the agents. Seeing as CX-1 was most likely initiated around the same time as Crosshair (I choose to believe that they were near each other’s tables which is why they’re familiar), that took around five months to half a year. In that time span there had to be a lot of soldiers who Hemlock saw fit to be “reprogrammed” but we see very few operatives throughout. This means that if they make it out of mental conditioning, physical conditioning is most likely very dangerous and often times fatal. I’d like to draw attention to the capsules as a part of that physical conditioning. There were several capsules that Hemlock was observing, along with the foggy one that is most likely that new Huyang-lookin-ass operative. If these capsules are the final stage of physical conditioning, it adds meaning to CX-2’s first line, “Why have I been activated?” (Once again paraphrasing). Although the capsules could be for something else entirely.

Also a bit of a gripe, why in the world do you need a new secret-secret operative, Hemlock? You have the commandos, and then the first X troopers, now the CX’s, and what? You wanted a new one? I can’t tell if this man is an overachiever or just way too absorbed into the advanced trooper rabbit hole. Also for you Tech theorists, it’s kinda suspicious that he makes a new version of agents isn’t it? Almost like there’s something…deviant about him?

Completely side tracking here, I really like Phee’s awareness in the station. Yeah she didn’t hear the blaring alarm, but she was in a room where it’d be hard to hear anyways. However, when she got back she felt something was off about the ramp. We’ve seen how slick CX-2 is, so her noticing something is up was a nice touch imo. Also was very appreciative of her caution and readiness with her knife. I love when female characters get to be aware of their surroundings and ready to throw hands if things go south.

In conclusion, thank you for listening to my dump-rambling. I’ve been trying to keep my lips shut so I don’t miss tag anything and spoil it for someone (because I know that I’ll forget to tag everything right). I hope Wrecker is okay. And even if I’m not a Tech CX theorist, I have to admit that I’ve been seeing some fairly strong parallels.

Tale As Old As Time

Story Summary: On a cool evening night on Peridea, Sabine and Ahsoka discuss the stories they wish to leave as their legacy.

Evening was falling; a cool breeze whispered through the Noti encampment to herald the coming dark.

Preparations had already been made to move the next morning. Sabine had come to appreciate the constant movement of the strange crab-like beings that had welcomed them into their company. It gave her a sense of purpose; something to focus on in the meantime while her master figured out their next move.

Huddled around the campfire, her belly full after a good dinner consisting of some spicy stew, Sabine listened to the chatter of the Noti around her and gazed into the luminous night sky above.

“It still amazes me, no matter how much I look at it,” said a familiar voice. Sabine turned to find her master, Ahsoka Tano, walking up to the campfire, Huyang close behind.

Sabine agreed. Many evenings on Lothal had provided her with a wondrous view of the stars but Peridea had it beat by a large margin.

Ahsoka sat down next to her Padawan with a slight huff. After a moment, the older Jedi asked, “Would you like to hear a story, Sabine?”

Sabine blinked. “Aren’t I a little too old for bedtime stories?”

“One is never too old,” Ahsoka chided, “to hear a good story, my Padawan.”

Huyang offered, “I have plenty to offer in that department, Lady Wren.”

Sabine considered that. “What kind of stories?” she asked.

“Tales of the Jedi, and their numerous exploits across the galaxy,” said Huyang.

Sabine’s eyebrows raised in astonishment. “I thought the Empire wiped out all stories of the Jedi. Or replaced it with their own propaganda.”

“Oh, they tried,” replied Ahsoka. “To their credit, they did do a thorough job of it. Most of the modern galactic citizens don’t know much about the Jedi at all, despite the purge happening fairly recently in our lifetime.”

She smiled a little. “But they couldn’t erase all of it. The Jedi existed for a millennium before the Empire. Their stories are written in the very fabric of the galaxy.”

“Are there stories about you, Master?”

Ahsoka laughed. “Oh, I’m sure. I traveled a fair amount back in my youth.”

Sabine looked to Huyang with a grin. “Are there any funny ones about her, Huyang?”

Huyang pondered for a moment before replying. “There is one where she had to pretend to be someone’s fiancée. It was with a boy named Lux, I believe-”

Ahsoka, embarrassment coloring her tone, interrupted him. “Okay, maybe not that one.”

Sabine’s grin turned mischievous. “Oh, did you have a crush on him, my master?”

Ahsoka crossed her arms and sighed. “It was complicated. Happened during the Clone Wars.”

“Oh.” Sabine dropped her teasing. “What happened to him?”

Ahsoka seemed to withdraw into herself. “I’m not sure. I heard rumors of his death during the Rebellion.”

Sabine felt a gentle sadness and regret pulsing out from her master. She decided to drop the subject.

“What kind of story would you like to be remembered for, Lady Tano?” asked Huyang.

Ahsoka blinked at the droid. “That’s quite the question, Huyang.”

“You’re a hero,” suggested Sabine. “You’ve helped so many. So maybe a heroic story.”

“Jedi don’t do this to be remembered, Sabine,” reminded Ahsoka. “We do it because it’s right.”

The older Jedi stared into the fire. “I’m not sure I want to be remembered at all,” she confessed. “I haven’t always done the right thing.”

Sabine said, “But you’ve always done the best you can. I’ve never seen you settle for anything less.”

It felt weird defending Ahsoka against herself. She had rarely seen her master be so unsure before.

Ahsoka smiled appreciatively at Sabine. “That’s true.”

She looked at Huyang. “I suppose that’s the story I’d like to be known for: someone who tried her best to help out.”

“Very appropriate,” observed Huyang. “I’ll keep that in mind for future reference, Lady Tano.”

The droid turned to Sabine. “And you, Lady Wren? When the time comes, what kind of story would you like to leave behind?”

Sabine blew out a breath. “I don’t know,” she admitted. “It’s still being written.”

“A good answer,” said Ahsoka. “You’ll have plenty of time to decide.”

“I would suggest a comedy,” offered Huyang.

Annoyed, Sabine flicked a pebble at the droid. It dinged on his metallic exterior, satisfyingly.

Ahsoka laughed. “Go ahead with a story, Huyang. There’s a funny one with Master Yoda, if I recall? When he spent time with the Wookies.”

“Ah, yes,” said Huyang, approvingly. “That is a good story.”

Ahsoka settled into a more comfortable position. Sabine followed suit, leaning in with interest.

“A long time ago,” started Huyang, “in a galaxy, far, far away . . .”

When the story was over, Ahsoka stood and stretched her back. “You’ll take first watch?” she asked Sabine.

Sabine nodded. “Sleep well, Ahsoka. Same to you, Huyang.”

Huyang replied, “As a reminder: I am droid, and therefore do not require sleep.”

She rolled her eyes. “I will throw a bigger rock at you next time,” Sabine promised.

After they left, Sabine took a stick and poked at the campfire. The Noti had retired to their huts; she was alone with her thoughts.

She leaned back and gazed into the star-lit night sky over her head.

When the time comes, what kind of story would you like to leave behind?

Sabine thought of her life so far; what had been lost and sacrificed.

Her mistakes and failures.

Should it be a tragedy? A cautionary tale for others?

As she brooded, the fire began to die out. Reaching out for another log to feed it, she paused.

“I don’t want to be a tragedy,” she said out loud.

She tossed the log into the campfire and it roared back to life. Sabine watched the glowing embers rise on the night breeze, drifting into the night sky like fiery petals.

She thought of home. Not Mandalore - but Lothal. Her loth-cat, Murley.

Kanan. Hera. Jacen. Zeb. Chopper.

My family. The names repeated in her head, over and over, like some sacred prayer.

And, of course, whenever it was darkest for her, she thought of him.

Sabine looked back into the fire, feeling it’s warmth flow into her.

Ezra filled her mind and, like the campfire, beat back the darkness. It was his constant gift to her; making the dark small.

When the time comes, what kind of story would you like to leave behind?

Sabine smiled. She had her answer.

Whispering, Sabine says it to herself, as though she was uttering a private, secret wish.

“A love story.”

(way too many) thoughts on the ahsoka show

It was fine? I was really afraid there would be something I hated. And there was nothing I hated. Sad but true that that’s the bar for new SW material atm.

I really liked ep5; ep5 will probably get a rewatch. I liked the casting. The visuals were pretty cool. Huyang was a treasure.

So we’re really going with “the Force is in everyone so everyone can use the Force if you just try hard enough”? I… kind of hate that. That somehow feels ableist of me to say. But this is a heckin fantasy universe I feel like some people Really Are That Special, y’know?

Exception that proves the rule: A Force-less Sabine is still VERY SPECIAL. In Rebels, she can hold her own in a fight just as much as Kanan or Ezra. She’s extremely competent without the Force. She’s somehow less competent in this show

She really is just the worst here in ways that I do not remember her being in Rebels. I guess arguably Ezra was the one with Terminal Protagonist Syndrome in that show? And she caught it from him before he left?

I feel like what this season WANTED to be about – and honestly it’s the lowest hanging fruit possible for a show titled “Ahsoka” – is the tension between Ahsoka’s past / her relationship with her master and her future / her relationship with her apprentice. But I don’t think they actually hit a balance there, because they just did not make her relationship with her apprentice very compelling. Three reasons for this:

1. My bias. There are very few things that start with “Ahsoka &” that would get my attention more than “Ahsoka & Anakin.” Feel like I’m not alone on that one tho

2. Established canon. It’s already an uphill battle because Ahsoka and Sabine don’t have much of a relationship in Rebels. I’m honestly not sure they ever have a conversation. I remember Sabine being like “wow she’s cool much cooler than my idiot adopted brother”, and maybe that would be a place for a mentor figure relationship to start, if Sabine weren’t already DROWNING in mentor figures. It’s not that they have nothing in common, they are just straight up not a focal point of Rebels S2.

Hey you know who canonically has latent Force abilities? And maybe needs some training? And whom Ahsoka would have a Complicated feeling about without even needing a prior established relationship? Someone with mutually incompatible daddy issues? Someone deep enough in the cultural zeitgeist she literally would need no introduction?

Yes I KNOW it’s never gonna be canon and I should just go back to AO3 but it’s RIGHT THERE HRRRRRGGGGHHHHH

3. But a lot of the issues with Ahsoka & Sabine as a focal point are of the showmakers’ own creation. You’re telling me they have a relationship now? Fine, CONVINCE me of that:

First they shoot themselves in the foot by not giving us any information about how Sabine became Ahsoka’s apprentice originally. Why did Sabine want to become a Jedi when she didn’t want that in Rebels? DID she want to become a Jedi? What did she want to learn from Ahsoka? Why did Ahsoka decide to take an apprentice at that time and not any time before or after? How did she feel about it? And why pick Sabine, who is, and this is true, Not Very Good at the Force? Who approached whom, or did they run into each other accidentally? I suppose answering some of these questions might require answering “where was Ahsoka between 3 BBY and 4 ABY?” and they aren’t ready to do that yet, but guys. GUYS. If you’re trying to tell me how Ahsoka and Sabine fix their relationship, you gotta tell me why I care first.

I know I'm harping but I really cannot emphasize enough that "fuck it I'm gonna go round two on Found Family" is an arc-defining character beat for both Ahsoka AND Sabine and the fact that the audience doesn't get to see it really makes me question whether the powers that be themselves know what it looks like

Then we get vanishingly little information about why they broke up, and all of it is provided by Huyang. And what I’m picking up from what we have is “Sabine got too Revenge Quest-y, and Ahsoka got nervous.” I don’t even know where to begin here – maybe with the fact that if Sabine decided to go on a murder rampage, she wouldn’t need the Force, lol. We know Sabine’s family died, she wanted to go to Mandalore, and Ahsoka didn’t want her to. So… did Sabine go? How did she end up back on Lothal? Who left who? Was Ahsoka worried for Sabine’s safety, or that she was getting too Dark Side-y, or both? What juicy terrible intergenerational-trauma-driven things did they say to each other when they broke up? I want to compare and contrast this with Ahsoka leaving Anakin, but I do not have the information to do so because there are zero details and the info we DO have is from ANOTHER CHARACTER. Again, if this season is about this relationship, TELL ME WHY I CARE.

To me this is the same cardinal sin as Picard S1 – implying that some really interesting stuff happened when the audience wasn’t watching, and that it explains why the characters are behaving the way they are, and then… not disclosing that information. EXCEPT PICARD GAVE US MORE THAN THIS fjdghjfghjkhkd

I was not on Tumblr when I was watching Picard S1. Probably for the best.

But okay, they have a history, the show is gonna be about them, sure let’s move on. AND THEN THEY SPEND LIKE HALF THE EPISODES NOT EVEN IN THE SAME GALAXY. The time they do spend in the same room is 75% generic sniping. As someone who came into this way more invested in the Ahsoka & Anakin relationship, ep5 was very much NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART

And the couple of beats they do have together have me going HUH? After ep2 I spent most of a day debating myself on whether there’s a missing scene, between Sabine getting stabbed and waking up in the hospital, where we see Ahsoka actually REACT. On one hand, Ahsoka would be upset, maybe we as the audience can fill in the gaps and we don’t need to spend time on it. On the other hand, maybe we do, tho? At the time I was thinking about how we haven’t seen Ahsoka truly emotionally vulnerable since TCW with the exception of “Shroud of Darkness” and maybe “Twilight of the Apprentice.” She has a very normal range of emotions, and she expresses them in very controlled ways, and I just wanna see what she looks like when that breaks down, ya know? What’s weird to me is that in ep4 when Ahsoka thinks Sabine is dead we do get this beat; she gets Real Mad there for a second. So maybe what we’re learning is it was a double beat and they should have cut the stabbing thing entirely I mean come on they had to have known they were gonna catch flack for that. Then again, having that moment shows the audience that Ahsoka does give a shit, more than she wants to admit and more than she typically shows Sabine, which is a fun compare/contrast with Anakin, and it might have given me a better understanding of the relationship if it had come earlier.

The other big beat is Sabine deciding to help the baddies. That is just such a devastatingly terrible decision. So bad, in fact, that I feel like we’re supposed to be drawing parallels to Anakin. Their whole “screw over the galaxy to save one person” thing. Except 1) Sabine is not Anakin and 2) in order for that to be interesting, Ahsoka needs more information than I think she has. She knows Padme died around the same time Anakin totally lost his shit, and that’s about it. Which is actually a fun little thought experiment: what assumptions does Ahsoka make about the causality there? The only people who could have given her more intel are Palpatine, Obi-Wan, and Vader – unlikely. So IF the show is about the lines between Anakin and Ahsoka and Sabine, Sabine’s choice here could be central to that, and crucially to Ahsoka’s understanding of that, except it’s just for the audience I guess?

I do really like that Ahsoka’s extremely chill about what Sabine did, though. Ahsoka “Eh Shit Happens” Tano. Somehow her lesson from all this is “masters support their apprentices literally no matter what. Citation: Mine did.” That’s an unhinged take and I expect nothing less from my blorbo.

WHICH IS WHY WE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST GOTTEN A FLASHBACK TO THE SITUATION IN WHICH AHSOKA DIDN’T SUPPORT SABINE HRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

I realize that I’m really tearing into this thing pretty much just for not being something it isn’t. Like, it’s not BAD. But maybe its weaknesses stem from not committing to being about any one thing. It’s kind of about intergenerational trauma, it’s kind of a Rebels Part Two, it’s kind of a Filoniverse installment, it’s kind of a worldbuilding exercise. And that’s not necessarily too much material for an 8-hour show. It’s more like the powers that be DECIDED that was too much material.

I smiled. I screamed. I cried. It was fucking perfect. The most Star Wars-y Star Wars show. I loved it so much. Here are some miscellaneous thoughts:

All the Nightsister stuff! I’ve always loved the Nightsisters and wanted to know more about them, so this was so cool

Ahsoka being so understanding of Sabine and her decision was lovely. I love their relationship so much

Ezra’s lightsaber looking like Kanan’s!! Oh my god I cried

Thrawn continuing to be smarter than everybody and so, so cool

Huyang having the part for it and saying Ezra’s and Kanan’s were the only two. I sobbed.

Ezra being Ezra and talking on the trooper’s comm then stealing his armour to escape was so fun. It made me so happy

Baylan standing on the statue of The Father!! So cool. Also I loved the cinematography of those scenes. Big LOTR vibes

Hera and Ezra seeing each other for the first time absolutely broke me

I loved the ESB vibes. The bad guys won, but there’s still such a strong feeling of hope, a sense that yes, they lost, but everything is eventually going to be okay

The score, the cinematography, the writing, the acting, the way it’s such a perfect combination of all SW media, god, it was perfect. What an incredible show. I knew it would be good, but I never thought it would be that good

My only complaint is that there was no Zeb, but if (when, let’s be honest) they get a second season, I’m sure he’ll be in it. Kallus too, hopefully. And Hondo, please

Ahsoka spoiler thoughts for episode 3

Sabine's training outfit is *chef's kiss*

I get the sense that Sabine's Force sensitivity will be treated similarly to Chirrut's. She's not naturally strong enough to get cool powers, but she draw on it to enhance her intuition or something to that effect. I like this approach since it ties back to the idea from the first movie that everyone has the Force within them, and the fact that Sabine was able to connect with the Dark Saber in Rebels.

Huyang referencing the Disaster Lineage! I feel seen.

Loved that detail of Hera (briefly) losing her cool and snapping at the Senators. She's a professional military woman, but Ezra was like a son to her. Of course she's going to clam up and get defensive when they call out her bias.

The New Republic is continuing to New Republic. But Mothma seems pretty reasonable at least.

Resistance cameo? I couldn't get through that show, but I'm glad to see other parts of the franchise being acknowledged and incorporated into the story in a way that makes sense.

JACEN! And he and Chopper are bffs because of course they are. They're basically brothers!

His exchange with Hera about wanting to be a Jedi is... interesting. The Rebels epilogue seemed to imply that Jacen was Force-sensitive, but apparently Luke hasn't whisked him off for training. Maybe Luke doesn't want to start too young? Jacen just wants to be like his dad <3

This episode is much more exciting than the first two. While I think the slower pace of those episodes was necessary, this is just plain fun. Rosario Dawson also feels much more natural as Ahsoka in this kind of context.

The details of Ahsoka and Sabine being forced to actively and verbally coordinate their efforts during the dogfight was great. It's much more realistic than characters magically being able to hit stuff while flying in 1959325 different directions, especially for a non-Jedi.

Marrok's voice is so cool. I feel like this character was created exclusively to spawn whackass speculation about Ezra being evil, but I don't mind since at least Marrok seems like a competent villain, at least so far. I'd be mad if he turned out to be Ezra, but I really think he's a deliberate red herring.

Shin's so gorgeous wtf

The lightsaber sequence in space was interesting. The shape of the helmet was a little goofy, but at least Ahsoka actually got a helmet this time around rather than just an oxygen mask like in TCW. Suspension of disbelief can only take you so far in live action, so I can overlook it. Especially since the action was actually pretty cool.

I wish we'd gotten more specific information on Ahsoka and Sabine's previous falling-out. It feels like we've been snapped back to a status quo that we never got to see play out on-screen, rather than actually exploring that relationship. That being said, there's still five episodes to go, so there's plenty of time to address this.

Natasha plays Sabine's nervous energy very well and Rosario is showing Ahsoka's own unease, reserve, but also very caring concern, extremely well. I really wish we could see the history between these two--animated in between series anyone??

I wonder why Dave doesn't bring up the fact that Ahsoka owes Ezra her life. It's only focused on what Ezra means to Sabine, but he means a lot to Ahsoka too.

Huyang's lil hands on hips...you can tell he's a full practical build here.

Speaking of...I REALLY want to know if the practical robot was used for this fight scene, or if they switched to someone in a costume/CGI. It seems like the HK droids are people/CGI but I could be wrong about that. Either way, go Huyang go!

It's always a treat to see Mandos and Jedi fighting styles together. And Sabine's Wonder Woman vambrace block was great.

The lightsaber usage in this show is so interesting and such a unique blend of samurai techniques, OT trilogy techniques, and more realistic stabbing and swiping and slicing motions. I love the choreography and cinematography of Shin and Sabine going at it as well as how the trees and landscape are used in their fight.

Looks like Shin got her dramatics from her master. Sitting there with his hood up for effect lol

Definitely getting flashbacks to Ahsoka's sass in her fight with Maul in TCW.

Baylon's textured armor is so incredible. I want to see him leading a 13th century cavalcade

Can he read people's minds? Or does he do in depth research like Thrawn does so he knows the weak points of his opponents?

“One must destroy in order to create.” No. You are incorrect sir. One must die. One must morph, must change, in order to create. But that is different than destroying.

Again with the one saber. It's such an odd choice for Ahsoka to do that, and it honestly feels like an excuse for Baylon to be able to overpower her later. I don't quite like it.

It is very interesting how Baylon views Ahsoka, and tells her that her legacy is death and broken promises. What exactly does he think her legacy is? Because that is Anakin's legacy, not hers (at least through Rebels). What has happened since then?

He looks so sad, honestly.

There's way too much leaving oneself open to attack in this episode.

The fight scene definitely looks slowed down a little, and it's a little clunky, but man Baylon is brutal with his saber. Again why is Ahsoka not using both of hers to combat is strength??

Either there's a trailer shot that never made it into this fight, or Baylon and Ahsoka fight again. I'm missing where she kicks back against one of those tall rocks and flips over. That was such a cool shot.

I honestly can't believe Shin was able to block the whistling birds lol. That would be an intense hit to the face. Also I love how much of the shots and sparks in these shows are practical. It makes it feel so much more real.

The map burning Ahsoka is wild. It makes sense but very unfortunate.

Hot damn Ahsoka! She definitely was tapping into some anger there. In real life that hit to the back of the head should have seriously injured Shin. Filoni is really being gritty and brutal with the fights in this show, they're raw and dirty in ways that the trilogies were not.

Aaaaaand while I know Ahsoka isn't dead yet (there's no way Filoni would kill off the title character halfway through a first season) holy cow that was heartwrenching

Baylon is a master manipulator. He makes Maul look like a babbling teenager. And yet he doesn't seem to derive any twisted pleasure from it. He just is doing what he thinks he needs to do.

I'm sorry Ahsoka had WHAT to do with Sabine's family dying???? In the Purge??? Ugh geez that's awful.

Dave definitely nailed the lighting in this show. Even if the volume is still apparent in some shots, the lighting is finally dialed in and soft and realistic and atmospheric. That shot of Baylon after decimating the map is epic.

Thoughts after the finale?

Ooh *rubs hands*

Right off the top, RIP Ray Stevenson 😢 What a great character to leave us with, and with such a jaw-dropping final moment! I don't know what they have planned for the story line (no deep fakes, plz!). Though I don't particularly care about the Mortis gods too much, I know that's making a lot of folks lose their mind, and it's definitely a different way to branch out the story.

Confession - I was about 15% hoping for a Kanan appearance, since they did so much with Anakin. No luck, but what a sweet scene with Ezra building his new light saber! And Huyang talking about Caleb/Kanan AND giving him that piece he'd saved just for him? So Ezra's comes apart now, I guess? Sobbing! Great scene. (Side note, I thought kyber crystals were kind of rare/hard to find? But this is the second LS Ezra's just made without any mention of where the crystal came from?? IDK, I'm not too concerned about it.) Also, love that it's blue again! But really wish he'd done the blaster thing again, that was rad.

I love the little Noti so much. I hope we see them again.

Great fight scenes. Loved all the teamwork. Ezra in full Jedi mode 👁👅👁 Eman rocking this role so hard! And that Force jump?! Jaw dropping. Kind of on the fence about Sabine's emerging Force abilities. Still not sold that was a needed character trait.

Did anyone have Zombie Stormtroopers on their bingo card?? Marrok was re-animated (I guess?), but he still spoke and acted like a normal person? These guys were shambling braaaaains undead type. Very creepy and cool. And all those coffins(?) in the Chimera - Thrawn going to have a full army of them?

Sucks we STILL have people trapped in the other galaxy, but A.) we know where they are and that they're safe, and, more importantly, the other characters know; and B.) there's at least a chance, maybe that they could hitch a ride with the purgil on their return trip?? 🤷‍♀️

Ezra exiting that ship in full stormtrooper armor - a bit illogical, but totally worth the call-back! And Chopper immediately recognizing him and going over to say hi in the sweetest way 😭😭 (Though I still say it would have been hilarious if Chopper had acted irritated and run over his foot) But who the hell decided to cut the camera away before Ezra and Hera hugged?!? And no introduction to Jacen?? JAIL! JAIL FOR ONE THOUSAND YEARS!

Overall enjoyable episode. Interesting that two master/apprentice teams were left behind, though one on the outs. Is there going to be a season 2 before the big Crossover movie where we can see them interact? Maybe Shin will be tempted to be a light side (or light grey side) Force user? It would also be the best place for a rescue/return rather than use movie time for it. Guess we shall see!

They still had a week in space before anything could be done, and at the behest of both Shin and Sabine, Ahsoka had told both Apprentices to rest for the day so she could meditate without having to make sure they weren’t going to kill each other.

Sabine had tried to take the opportunity to sleep in, but Shin getting up just as early in the morning had ruined that plan. The artist had spent the entire day distracting them with small, menial things to keep her out of the training rooms; teaching them sabaac, showing them their sketches, and even maybe powering off Huyang and slipping into the bunkroom with the hopes that Ahsoka wasn’t listening in too closely.

Just getting Shin back in bed had been a feat, so Sabine had been more than happy at their comfy refusal to leave the small space. “Hang on, I’ll be right back,” Sabine pressed a kiss into their hair before wriggling herself from their arms, tugging on her clothes as she stumbled to the door.

Powering on Hyang on her way to the kitchenette, Sabine pulled down two mugs. “Hey Huyang, you fell asleep on me,” She teased as hot chocolate pods were loaded, the perfect way to end their lazy afternoon in the chill of the artificially cooled room.

“I do not need sleep, you-“

“Oh hey, I think Ahsoka was calling you,” The warm drinks were poured into white porcelain cups as Huyang went to find Ahsoka, muttering to himself about ‘Padawans’ and ‘Mandalorians’.

Liquid gold secure, Sabine balanced both mugs in her hands, snagging a datapad from the shelf along the way back. “Okay, buckle up, because once I sit down, I’m not getting up again,” She handed both mugs off to Shin, who peered on the contents with more than a normal amount of confusion. “Don’t worry, there’s no poison,” She promised as she slipped back under the covers to wall the blonde off from the door, something the woman had personally requested once their sleeping arrangements had turned to this.

“But what is it?” They sniffed experimentally as Sabine balanced the datapad on her knees to grab her mug back.

“What..? You’ve never had hot chocolate before?”

Shin’s vacant stare was enough to tell Sabine that no, they had never had hot chocolate before. “All these years, and you’ve never lived- How has Baylan gotten away with this great injustice?”

Before Shin could bite back a seething retort about the Mandalorian’s remark about her Master, Sabine was tapping her hand against the mug. “Come on, just take a sip, di’kut, you’ll love it,”

As Sabine got comfortable in bed again and started tapping away at the datapad, Shin raised the mug to her lips and took a slow sip.

A smile pulled at Sabine’s lips the moment Shin’s eyes had widened. The liquid was hot on her tongue, but the rich, sweet ichor didn’t go unnoticed. Pulling the mug back, Shin blinked at the contents. “Don’t burn your tongue-“ Sabine tried to reason with them as they took a bigger sip. “It won’t be a fun time, cyar’ika,”

Sabine was able to coerce Shin into not drinking the rest of the mug like it was needed to live, settling back into the bunk until the blonde shuffled closer to press firmly into her side. A film was pulled up onto the datapad, something sappy and romantic, the first thing she’d found about a clone and a Twilek, and dads who stepped up; it really didn’t require much brain power to enjoy, though Shin had seemed immersed.

“Why would they bring that stranger inside? It seems a good way to die,” Shin commented as she intentely watched a soldier stumbling into the small family’s barn. Sabine’s attention was turned to Shin, watching the furrow of their brows, the crinkles at the corners of their eyes, and the way she looked between everything in each frame.

Shin allowed themselves to lean into the comforting ministrations of Sabine’s hands, her mug held tight in her lap as she scoffed. “That isn’t even a proper blaster burn, have they never been shot before?”

Sabine’s hand trailed from the back of Shin’s head to the underside of her jaw. “Maybe, budget osik,” She grumbled halfheartedly, tipping her head down to catch Shin’s lips. The other woman was more than happy to return the kiss, chocolate rich on her tongue as Sabine allowed them to take control.

An explosion from the datapad had Shin pulling back to watch the holofilm again, the lights catching in the silvery blue of their eyes. Sabine smiled dumbly at her, head drooping back against the pillows as she watched Shin take another sip, their eyes sliding closed at the decadent liquid once more, it seemed the best way to get the woman to blink, too.

“Old Separatist droids to not fight like that, they are making them seem much more intelligent than they were truly capable of,” Shin grumbled in complaint, not acknowledging the Mandalorian as her empty mug was taken from her hands and set on the floor next to Sabine’s own empty glass. Shin grumbled as she pressed into Sabine once more. “Don’t bother, you have shown me where your priorities lie, you sap,” There was a smile being hidden in her shirt, she could feel it against her skin.

Shin groaned and rolled over to face the wall, though when Sabine did not follow, she sat up and turned back to glare at the Mandalorian. “You know your place, Mandalorian,”

Laughing, Sabine shut off the datapad and scooted over until she could wrap herself around her wolf from behind, pressing kisses to the shell of their ear as they snuggled back in. “Guess these slow days can be nice,” She declared as she relaxed into the thin mattress.

is there even a point to me catching up

tbh? no. there was a very long kanan mention, which is cool. ezra built another saber (blue :( i wanted it to be purple) using kanan's extra old parts of his saber that huyang gave him. uhhhhh ezra made it home, but ahsoka and sabine got left behind. morgan died, uhhhh morai showed up! that was cool. only for 3 seconds though. anakin showed up too, as a ghost. thrawn got home too, unfortunately. they blew up the nightsister temple :( and that's really it. it was an okay finale, some parts were really cool, but it just wasn't. idk. it left me frustrated.

Aight literally just woke up and watched the new Ahsoka trailer so quick rundown of my incredibly tired thoughts:

She did the throw-sabers-into-floor-and-make-a-hole move again so that’s neat

Live-action Hera looks pretty good based on the two shots we got of her. Which I figured she probably would cause it’s not like we don’t already have plenty of twi’leks in live-action but still.

Looks like they recreated the Rebels epilogue Almost Exactly except Ahsoka and Sabine both have different outfits and Sabine has different hair but in the various promo pics she has the exact hair and armor from said epilogue so. Whatever maybe she just cuts it. Which thank god cause long hair does NOT work on Sabine like it just looks wrong. 

Unexpected Mon Mothma appearance is unexpected.

Makes me anxious that they only showed Thrawn from the back. I NEED to know if his makeup actually looks good or if they made him look like Blue Man Group.

Cheeky mythology gag calling him “Heir to the Empire” is appreciated though

Ezra’s seasons 3-4 outfit looks stupid in live-action but that’s not on this show cause it looked stupid in Rebels too. Hopefully when we see him in the present day they’ll finally let him be at least somewhat fashionable.

I knew they’d bring David Tennant back as Huyang. He’s too popular not to.

The way she holds her sabers in this is really awkward looking like her hands are super close to the top of the hilt. Literally never seen lightsabers held that way before. Like girl get your fingers away from those blades.

Coming in August which is about what I expected. And that gives me plenty of time to rewatch Rebels before it comes out so that’s cool.
