ETERNAL LOVE UNDER THE OAK TREE
ZHONGLI x GOD!READER
FYI— MAJOR ANGST
(F/F means favorite flowers, E/C means eye color)
————————
Zhongli stood in shock when he saw you wandering around alone— seemingly looking behind you and see...him behind you with a shocked look on his face.
You've been dormant for quite a long time— and yet, you don't know that most of your friends are dead or hasn't been in contact with you for years.
You're Zhongli or Morax's lover, and yet you fell into a deep slumber before the archon war started. Morax, Barbatos, and some of your friends was able to keep you safe from the harms of the war.
You resided away from the eyes of the world, sleeping the centuries and centuries to pass. Every now and then, Zhongli would come and visit you— hoping that you would open your e/c eyes.
Zhongli thought his eyes were deceiving him, so he reached out to you— touching your cheek and feeling the soft skin against his own.
You smiled warmly, and he pull you off into an embrace. He held you tightly, crying quietly while he held your warm body in his arms.
You closed your eyes, reminiscing the feeling of your lover's warmth and comforting scent.
"Morax..I love you.."
You spoke these soft and quiet words to him with a smile that seems a bit bittersweet yet still soft at the same time.
You spoke as if it would be the last time you would both be together, and it was. It was going to be your last time with him.
"M-My love...I genuinely have so much to show you, and now you're back we can—"
"Morax."
You cut him off, gulping down the lump in your throat. You want to make this as memorable as possible, you want to have this last moment before you're gone.
He looked at you with his amber eyes, and knitted brows. He pulled back from the hug just a bit to take a good look at you.
"I don't have much time left...You wouldn't mind continuing without me do you?"
His heart shattered when he heard those words, he was in utter confusion. What do you mean you don't have much time left? He wanted to show you everything about Liyue have spend some time with you...
Only for you to get taken away from him once again.
"W-What do you mean? You awoken and—"
"Listen Morax, I don't have much time left. I wish there was enough words to describe how much you mean to me. I'm sorry it had to be this way. I'm sorry we didn't have time. If only destiny can align the stars together, if only.."
He latched his arms around you once again, tears glistening in his amber eyes. He was holding you even tighter now, inhaling your scent and holding you in his arms.
"Morax..."
You uttered, tears were also welling up in your eyes now. You hugged him back, and you knew this would be the last time he would ever see or even feel you.
Zhongli stayed quiet. This couldn't even describe the pain he felt. He loves your hair, combing and taking care of it felt comforting. He loves your voice when you call out his name or nicknames, hearing it makes him feel warm. He loves your warmth, it makes him feel at home— and the yet he loves it so much. He loves everything about you, and now everything about you is what he's losing now.
You were slowly dissolving into thin air, and Zhongli held you even tighter in his arms. He was muttering under his breath, repeating, "I love you," over and over again.
————————
He sighs when he takes whiff of the scent of (f/f), recalling on how you mentioned on its meaning and how beautiful it was.
He was walking through the field of your favorite flowers— only soon stopping under the oak tree you both used to sit under.
He gave a small smile, reminiscing the times of you and him.
Zhongli soon placed the bouquet of (f/f) under the oak tree where you always used to sit and then sat in the place where he always sits.
...
He stayed quiet, letting the gentle wind past by while leaning back onto the huge oak tree— just imagining your presence and your voice.
You will forever be in his heart, forever at the back of his mind.

This is a whole bucket full of angst so have fun lol. Also, for context i would recommend reading this post of mine. Anyways enjoy reading! (*^▽^*)
Aether couldn't bear to see you like this. To watch you through yourself at him when he no longer loved you. It was pitiful really. How you begged for him to stay. You were attached to him while he moved on. Tartaglia didn't hate you, he simply didn't love you anymore. Tartaglia moved on and fell in love with someone else; his best friend. You couldn't do anything about it but simply accept what had happened. Though you could never move on from him as he had done.
And so Aether watched as you fell deeper into despair. He tried to lift you up, to show you how much you were loved and that you didn't need Tartaglia to feel loved, that there was someone else who loved you dearly. You were too blinded by your sorrow to notice how Aether thought of you.
As much as Aether wanted to do more for you he couldn't and so he let himself be a shoulder to cry on for you. Hoping. Praying. That one day you would see how much he cared for you.
You had been going to Aether nearly every day for about a week just to cry. He was your dearest friend after all. Until one day you stopped.
Aether thought you simply needed a bit of space to get over your heartache.
That was a week ago though.
It had been two weeks since he last saw you, and he was getting worried.
He stood outside your home, knocked, telling you it was only him and that he was worried because he hadn't saw you in two weeks.
Silence
He knocked again.
Nothing
He wasn't fond of entering without your permission but he had to make sure you were alright. He needed to make sure.
He went to open the door to find it was unlocked already, though it wasn't uncommon for you, it seemed to unnerve him for some reason. Your home was dark, the curtains were all closed and no light was on. The lack of light only made him worry more. You always had light in your home whether from open curtains or candles lit at night so for your house to be so dark in the middle of the day was worrisome. He walked around your house looking for you until he came to your room.
The door was closed and at first it seemed deadly silent from within your room as it was in the rest of your house. He stood there silently until he heard what sounded like a sob come from within your room. He opened the door to find you curled in on yourself in the corner of the room on your bed.
"Y/n are you-"
However you were surrounded by butterflies.
Red butterflies.
Blood Red butterflies
"Aether?"
He knew what was happening. He had seen this before. A friend from another world had died the exact same way, but he hadn't heard of it happening on Teyvat. He didn’t think it was possible here. He didn't want to believe it.
"How long has this been going on for y/n?" Aether inquired while walking over to your side.
"A-about two weeks now," you paused, taking a breath. "Aether do you know what's wrong with me?"
The look in Aether's eyes told you the answer to your question. It hurt Aether to see you like this, to hear you sound broken. It seemed that at the very least the disease wasn't well known in Teyvat if at all.
You didn't have much longer. It was obvious with how pale you were and the number of butterflies around you. Most people barely survived a month with the disease. Typically the victim died within three to four weeks of obtaining it. So it was easy to tell you would be dead soon.
He stayed by your side, tending to you as you slowly grew weaker and couldn't perform simple tasks let alone even walk. The only time he left your side was to inform Tartaglia of your condition and what was going to happen as well as ask Albedo if he knew anything of the disease.
Aether was told that while it did exist in Teyvat, it was extremely rare.
The moment Aether got back he was immediately by your side again.
You died in his arms five days later.
He laid you down on your bed as the butterflies landed on and around you to rest peacefully alongside with you.
Aether sat on the ground next to your bed, closing his eyes only to start coughing. He looked at his hand only to be met with flowers.
Red flowers.
Blood Red flowers.

I've come to realize that while I'm not the biggest fan of reading angst, I sure do love writing it.

It started from Monday.
Morning practice was always an exciting thing for Kageyama which gave him new energy to seize the day, especially when the Spring High Preliminaries was around the corner.
However, that day's morning practice was begun without the company of his tangerine partner after Hinata said in the team groupchat that he would likely be arrived late, as he had to take his little sister to her school first. Kageyama didn't mind, though he admitted the loneliness creeping at the bottom of his heart due to the lack of their little race. After all, it has become an everyday thingy between them.
After several rounds of serve practices, Kageyama decided to walk out of the gym at break time. His mind desired something sweet at that moment.
"Gun Gun Yogurt will do." He mumbled, seeing the vending machine just a few meters ahead of him. He practically could see his favorite drink behind the display glass, making him gulped. His hand rummaged through his pocket when suddenly a (H/C) haired popped out from the hallway. This stopped Kageyama on his track.
What is another student doing here this early?
His dark blue eyes were following the girl's gesture. Her fragile hand was holding some coins and gracefully inserted them into the hole. She pressed the button to choose a drink. Crouching slightly, she picked up her drink and walked away with one hand stuffed inside her pocket. Not even realizing a bit that Kageyama was watching the whole scene unfolded in front of him.
Kageyama blinked his eyes several times, bringing him to his sense. For some reason, the female's figure printed deeply inside his memory.
"She also likes Gun Gun Yogurt."
After that day, Kageyama would always find her wherever he went.
Whenever he was standing in the line to take his lunch order, she always stood a mere meters away from him. There was that one moment when his heart nearly dropped to his stomach when he realized she was standing behind him the whole time.
She even sat only one table away from his. Kageyama had to tried his best not to glance at her for too many times.
Even when Kageyama glanced out of his class window, the first thing that caught his attention was a (H/C) haired girl sitting comfortably near the school yard.
He would tried to avoid that one vending machine which was closest to gym after found out that she always went there frequently.
That day when he was called to the teacher office, his English teacher made him stood next to her for a long time while listening to him rambling about their failing grades.
The most unpredictable fact was the day he found out that she was Hinata's classmate, one of his close friend to make it worst.
"See you, (L/N)-san! I have practice today." Hinata beamed happily while waving to (H/C) haired girl, walking to the class entrance. He just didn't realize that Kageyama had been standing there, frozen.
"See you, Sho! I'll be bringing the book tomorrow!" She smiled with eyes closed while waving back to the orange haired male. That was when she caught a glimpse of a ravenette boy standing awkwardly in front of the class.
"Eh? Sho, is that your friend?"
Now, Kageyama only hoped that she wouldn't misunderstand him as a stalker.
Well, what Kageyama feared luckily didn't happen. She didn't even recognize him despite of their several meetings. Instead, they got to know each other that day.
"Hello, Kageyama-kun. I'm (L/N) (F/N). Pleased to meet you."
He just couldn't forget how she was smiling so sweetly, radiating warmth that took Kageyama's breath away for a moment. This led to him stuttering which the embarrassment he couldn't let go until now.
After that day, she alongside with Hinata would always joined him every lunchtime. She happily asked them to walk together until school gates whenever they didn't have practice. Sadly, they have to part ways since they all had different routes way home.
Kageyama didn't mind. He enjoyed (Y/N)'s company more than he thought. He even grew quiet fond of the (E/C) eyed female. He would always be the first to offer any help he could do whenever she needed it. That quickly escalated to the point where she often waited until practice ended just to walk home together.
Kageyama had asked her why, knowing the fact that their house is not even located in the same neighborhood.
"It's okay, Tobi. It just felt a bit lonely to go home alone."
Kageyama liked how she gave him nickname that nobody had ever given him before. He enjoyed the bubbling feeling inside his stomach whenever he heard her spoke. Cheeks darkened a few shades.
However, it just felt like (Y/N) never gave him chance to know anything about herself. She never brought their close friendship anywhere outside of school. Sometimes, he could sense something was off with her smile, how those beautiful eyes became distant and strange when they didn't meet with his dark blue one.
But again, Kageyama didn't mind. He could only hope it was nothing he had to worry about. He couldn't insist to know her problem when he couldn't give her his full attention either. Volleyball would always be his top priorities, he couldn't deny it.
He continued enjoying the female presence while letting the uneasiness subsided.
At least for a few days left before Karasuno Volleyball Club's departure to Tokyo.
She became a different (Y/N) that Kageyama knew through their former intense meeting.
Even after they arrived back to Miyagi, (Y/N) never talked to Kageyama or Hinata ever again.
Few weeks after Spring High.
Hours of wearying practice. Tons of jump taken. Kageyama rubbed the towel to his wet hair harshly as he plopped down onto his bed, not caring about the amount of water absorbed to the sheet could make it soaked. Kageyama counted 1 to 3 as he breathed in and out, releasing the tiredness that started to form. Slowly, his mind drifted to sleep.
That was until a familiar customized ringtone made him jolted awake. He stared at his phone screen with disbelief.
(L/N) (F/N) is calling...
Those text pierced Kageyama's eyes as the screen continue to glow, illuminating the darkness of his room.
He took a deep breath and hesistanly pressed the accept button. However, he was only a milisecond late after the call ended. A chat notification popped out shortly.
(L/N) (F/N)
Hey, Tobi. Meet me at the hospital rooftop? The one which located two blocks away from our school?
He didn't even waste a single second to grab his jacket and ran to the promised place.
"Oh, Tobi. You made it!" She chirped happily while craned her neck to catch Kageyama's figure standing at the door, foot dangling as she dangerously sat in the edge of the rooftop.
"C'mere!" (Y/N) smiled. Her hand waving excitedly, urged the ravenette boy to come closer.
However, Kageyama stayed silent. His mind was so crowded with words he wanted to say to the girl, but his lips refused to open. (Y/N)'s hand stopped waving and dropped weakly onto her lap. Her eyes no longer had the excited glint anymore, replaced with the blank stare which felt strange to Kageyama. She lifted he head, staring into the brilliant night sky.
"Tobi, it's been a while, isn't it? How was Nationals?" asked (Y/N) softly.
"It was fine." Those were the first words he could say to her.
"Even though you lost?" (Y/N) smiled, eyes fixed to the breathtaking moon.
"We still have next year." He replied quietly. Hesitantly, Kageyama moved his legs closer to the rooftop edge. He glanced down eerily. The ground looked so far away beneath them.
"The moon's beautiful, isn't it?" asked (Y/N) quietly. This time, her gaze meet the beautiful glimmering dark blue eyes of Kageyama, taking her in.
"What's up with you, (Y/N)? You've been so distant lately and suddenly you asked me to come here? At night?" Finally, Kageyama managed to stammer out all the questions that had been bugging his mind.
(Y/N) only smiled once again. She always smiled a lot. Her signature smile, her plump lips curved sweetly, eyes full of what it feels like kindness. But, at the same time those (E/C) eyes were like an endless void, coated with coldness. Something that even Kageyama couldn't fathom.
"My time is up, Tobi."
Kageyama's eyes immediately widen. Uneasiness that always pricked his heart whenever she was nearby finally proven right.
Even so, he decided not to let it all out at once. "What does that mean? Do you have some illness? Do you want to move away? Tell me, (Y/N)!" Please, I hope the truth betrayed me.
"You get 100 points for saying the first one." She chuckled. Kageyama lost all his words. A wide grin later plastered on her pale face, which seemed fake. (Y/N) spun her body a bit. "But, you see? I'm perfectly fine." She stopped. "From outside, it is."
It hurt Kageyama by how much (Y/N)'s last words gradually became quieter. Like a million of pain were hiden behind them.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He whispered painfully. "Am I not worth your trust? Don't I have something I can help you with?" It was regret that was slowly overlapping his heart.
"No, Tobi." She shook her head. "From the very start, I can't be helped. That's just how it is."
His eyes screamed protest, but the words he was going to say were stopped as (Y/N) looked right into his eyes, steadily.
"Don't be sad, Tobi. Your eyes hurt me." She chuckled, contrary with her glistening eyes. "See? You managed to make me cry now."
She smiled, again. "Y'know, even before I met you, I always counted the days left til my heart is prepared. Neither I have the reason nor strength to continue. There's nothing I can do again. I-"
"I can give you both!" His words came out louder than he had anticipated. "Don't do this to me, (Y/N). I can do so much more than you could imagine. I can be a help, one that you never have before." His eyes pleading.
"There're too many scars inside me, Tobi. You won't ever succeed. They numbed me." Don't let me hurt you.
"I always thought the only way to heal my wound is just by leaving anyway." She averted her gaze.
Kageyama opened his mouth to reply, but her next words completely caught Kageyama off guard.
"What do you think if this is the last time you'll see me?"
"What the hell, (Y/N)?" Kageyama's eyes filled with anger. He took a step forward and grabbed (Y/N)'s hand. If he let go, this would be completely messed up.
(Y/n) tried hard to swallow the chagrin building up. No, she couldn't waver now. Not after the courage she had been building up until now. She took Kageyama's hand off.
"This is my choic-"
"No, I refuse." His hand gripped the shorter female's shoulders firmly. "We're gonna walk home everyday, spending our school days together. We'll graduate together."
She chuckled, ironically. "Please, don't consider my words heavily, Tobi." She gently lifted Kageyama's hand off of her shoulders. "Don't care too much. I'm just here to say goodbye. None of those moments were made of sincere feeling, you know? Not even once."
Lies. She's lying.
Kageyama observed how she kept averting her gaze to anywhere but his eyes. He watched how those (e/c) eyes overwhelmed with poignancy.
"It's okay if those are fake. I don't care. All I want is to stay by your side. I'l never let you get through this alone." Kageyama knew he had to try harder, but why did he feel that his effort are in vain?
Her mind was made up.
"It's getting late, Tobi. Thank you for coming. Please go home." She gently pushed him away.
"No. You have to come with me."
"I'll go home too. Don't worry. I'll just stay here for a bit." She smiled again.
Kageyama stayed silent. He didn't reply. Without any words, he took off his blue jacket and draped it around her shoulders.
"Don't. You know a mere wind won't get me sick, right?" She joked, as she handed it back to him.
Kageyama didn't move. "Promise me you'll see me tomorrow?" Please, don't make this the last time we could talk to each other like this.
She just smiled. His jacket in hand.
Kageyama bit his lips. He took a few steps back. With last meaningful glance, he said, "Do me a favor and stay alive, (Y/N)."
She just watched him as he closed the door with heavy heart.
(Y/N) dragged her feet back to her first position. She let her feet dangling dangerously on the edge. She brought her hand to her cheek, trying to feel the warmth radiated from Kageyama's hand once again, as if he was still there.
At a sudden her phone buzzed before seconds later the sound of ringtone she despised the most flooded her hearing. She stared at the screen blankly, not wanting to press the green button which was glowing in the dark.
"So noisy. I'll go back there once I'm done here. Moreover, those doctors said I'll die tonight anyway. Like those cells already spread undercontrol or something."
She babbled to the gentle hush which cloaked the town.
"After all, it's not like they'll be happy if I'm still breathing tomorrow morning."
The image of dark blue eyes filled with hurt flashed in her mind.
"I wonder if he safely make it home now."
She hopped and started to leave that brisk, lonely rooftop. She dragged her feet down the stairs while using the railings to support her fragile body. At the bottom her heart, she definitely still wanted to be with that ravenette setter for a little longer.
"I always meet someone at the wrong time, huh?"
She sighed.
Thump.
She grasped her head. That annoying pain made its way back to her. She was a little grateful that it didn't appear when Kageyama was there previously.
Thump.
She staggered, hand clasped tightly around the cold metal railings. The world started becoming hazy, enough to make her feet lost their support and sending her body flying down the stairs.
She didn't know which one is hurting her more, her head that was previously aching, the sharp pain when her body colluded with the stairs floor, or her heart that was missing his precious companion at the last moment of her life.
She stared straight at the ceiling as her body gradually becoming numb, maybe the only thing she should've been happy about. But then her heart was nowhere near happy right now.
"I shoud've said a more proper goodbye."
