Canadian Jews demand the expulsion of Ukrainian Nazi veteran

Following the resignation of the Parliament speaker over the invitation of a former Ukrainian man who was found to have served under Nazi command, a Jewish group is calling on Canada’s PM to expel a 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka from the country he allegedly entered illegally.

The resignation of Canadian House of Commons speaker Anthony Rota came a day after he invited and honoured a Ukrainian, who had fought alongside the Nazis, at a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, members of the Canadian Jewish community are calling for additional measures.

Meir Weinstein, CEO of Israel Now:

“No, no, it’s not enough at all. Not only that but the speaker who I guess you could refer to right now as the former speaker of the House, personally invited this Nazi war criminal, SS collaborator from the Ukraine to the House of Commons to be given an honor… There’s a lot to uncover here and unpack. It’s horrific.”

Politico defending LITERAL WWII Nazis.

Politico seriously suggests there is "nuance" around Yaroslav Hunka's joining of the Nazi 14th Waffen SS Grenadier Division (1st Galicia) to fight the Soviet Union and, like Canadian commentators over the last few days, suggests no war crimes were committed by this Division.

That's COMPLETE AND UTTER LUNACY.

The Nazi Germany 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS was NOTORIOUS for SLAUGHTERING their way through Ukraine, enthusiastically participating in the genocide of Poles, Roma, Jews, and Socialists/Communists

These people are manipulating history and your ignorance of it to make Nazis go from black and white obvious evil, to shades of grey in which you're not "expert" enough to have an opinion on, thereby weakening efforts to expose fascist ideology being integrated into Western society.

Jerry Schilling Appreciation Society

I just finished Jerry’s book (Me and a Guy Named Elvis) and oh my god, he’s the bestest friend. Unlike many others who wrote books about Elvis, he’s very tactful and respectful. His love for E is obvious and sincere, but it’s not just that. He seems to be just a very good person: honest, insightful and introspective. He doesn’t bad-mouth anybody, not even the people who didn’t like him. I loved reading about his shenanigans with E, like going to see Nixon or the taco contest they had in Hawaii! Oh and also, he’s hot, ya know?

Poland to seek extradition of Ukrainian Nazi veteran Hunka

On Tuesday, Poland’s Education Minister Przemyslaw Czarnek issued a statement saying he had “taken steps” to extradite Jaroslaw Hunka, a 98-year-old veteran of Ukrainian Nazi who was honoured by Canadian parliamentarians last week, according to Politico.

On Friday, House Speaker Anthony Rota introduced Hanka as a hero of the Canada-Ukraine war, prompting a standing ovation from parliamentarians.

However, Jewish organisations, human rights groups and leaders around the world have criticised the parliament’s gesture. Hunka fought in the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division, which served under Nazi command in Adolf Hitler’s World War II against the Red Army.
