Massive gripe ive been having with primarily the therian community lately, I really dont feel like we focus enough on animal rights causes considering how "connected" we're supposed to be to nonhumans.

Like I see it around for sure, but when I do it usually isn't more than just "hunting for sport is bad👍" or "dont beat your dog 👍" and that's it. The main focus of the community is still very much on biologically human individuals rather than on bio nonhumans, who are very literally treated like garbage in society and it's frustrating because i feel like we should be right there on the front lines when it comes to animal liberation.

Im not saying all of us need to be members of ALF or anything, im not even vegan and have no plans to be, but as of rn the community's overall acknowledgment and support of animal rights causes is pretty pathetic. Hell, I still hear therians confidently and proudly infantilize adult/highly intelligent nonhuman species ("animals have the intelligence of human toddlers") and spread blatant misinformation about them. Shit just annoys me

A Call to Abolish Slavery of All Kinds

And even then, if we abolish this kind of slavery trade forever, we still must consider the animal slavery trade as well. They are also beings. They have feelings, they have emotions; they have intelligence. They have loyalty to each other and they are so good to each other and to humans also. And we sell, buy, sell, buy them, just like we did with humans before. That's also not correct. Our world is not correct in many ways. I don't know how long it takes to change all this, but we will have to change it. And we are doing all we can to change this system because it's not right.

There's only one way to do things: it’s the right thing. And this thing is not right. No matter what country or what government, if they have some thinking, some little sympathy in the heart, some understanding of what's right, what's wrong, then this slavery of humans and animals should be abolished long, long time before I was even born. That should be the right thing to do.

The thing I hate most about "parental rights" is how it's used to actually mean "if I lose even one ounce of absolute control over my child, regardless of what they want or what's good for them, my rights are being violated!"

What animals do you talk to most often? What sort of things do they say?

i talk to any animal that comes by!! the birds always have something nice to say, most of the flying animals do! though the award for nicest things to say goes to dogs! they are lovely and love everything unconditionally. cats are second place, they just show their affection in different ways. like... the hounds often tell their companions that they are safe, they are loved, and ask for more food. cats often say that they find their living situation comfortable and that they want to bring gifts to their owners. whenever one passes through my house they always get love and tell their families about it! but, i honestly talk to the birds most often. then we get the woodland creatures, then we get the domesticated creatures. woodland creatures wish for humans to leave them alone while domesticated creatures want more attention and love.

Hello fellow leftists, a reminder that the far-right operates by justifying and normalising oppression. It works by using someone's identity as an excuse to kill, harm or exploit them.

The animal rights movement argues that animals have the right to be free from harm or exploitation. You can disagree with this. But just know that if you argue against it, you are arguing on the behalf of an oppressive system. You're legitimising the basic structure of their arguments or using similar arguments.

And I don't think we can afford to give them any advantage right now.

So just a reminder:

It's not okay to harm someone because of your religion.

It's not okay to harm someone because of their intelligence or abilities.

It's not okay to harm someone because of your traditions.

It's not okay to harm someone because of the natural order.

It's not okay to cause harm because change is difficult.

It's not okay to harm others because of instinct.

It's not okay to harm someone because of our biology.

It's not okay to harm someone because of infighting within their group.

It's not okay to harm someone just because other people are doing worse things.

There is no way to kindly oppress someone.

Our personal choices and wants aren't worth more then someone else's rights.

(Note, if you can argue against animal rights without sounding like a bigot in any other context, then you're probably okay as far as the human rights movement is concerned.)

Been playing Pyre and I'm loving it. Part of the concept feels inherently Mesoamerican while done in a way that's not themed around Mesoamerican cultures. But sacred ballgames where the winner gets an exalted fate that still divides them from you is hard for me to not associate with the Aztecs.

I'm putting Pyre in with Radiant Historia for my 'games that aren't about Aztec mythology that do a far better job representing it than the average piece of mythology media' list.
