Actress Imelda Staunton had a very definite image of her character, which exceeded the obvious pink. "She wanted to have a noticeable derrière," says Jany Temime. "So we created one for her. She developed a walk with that bottom, and then the rest of her costume fell into place, whit a heavily padded front, all of which emphasized her little legs." As Umbridge is a Ministry official, Temime didn't want her to look like any of the professors. "And Umbridge herself doesn't want to look like a teacher. So we designed outfits for her that were extremely straight, square and a little bourgeois, although she thinks she's soft and cozy."
