update: peach is doing very well!! she's eating and sleeping normally (sleeping more than normal, really, but that's to be expected)!! after 3 days of not sleeping and a few changes in painkillers, she finally just napped for an hr then, after another day, slept through the whole night (and most of the next day). she's started following all her usual routines again and is very keen to eat! still on some painkillers, but they're not having any horrific side effects anymore
now that im not staying up to keep an eye on her all night (while also dealing with upgrading my computer and my phone and also my sister preparing to go overseas and the dogs barking and howling constantly due to all of the above), i finally got some decent sleep too and slept for about 14 hrs. so today ive got that weird shakiness that i get from sleeping too much, but hey it's better than the whole of the last week
#personal#and i have a working computer that's finally on windows 10 so that's one less thing to have background stress about#and i have a working phone for the first time in.. a year? 1.5 years? idfk. my previous phone was 16gb so i could fit like 2 apps#could barely take pictures (and couldnt store them) and couldnt update most of my apps because i couldnt update my os because no space#so every app ran slow and then eventually my phone would crash if i opened the storage section of the settings#so i couldnt even offload apps so i could delete them while keeping the data for when i downloaded them again#couldnt order medicine remotely because my chemist only lets you do that from the app (not the website)#couldnt control the aircon because that could only be done through an app#missed loads of stuff because i didnt have email notifications because i could only use my browser for emails#couldnt see tumblr polls on mobile because i couldnt update tumblr because i couldnt update my os#left the house less because i had to delete pokemon go and that genuinely helped me go for walks#ive been dealing with all that for a year so this is very exciting and such a ridiculous qol boost#it sucks how much something like that affects your life. what do you mean i need an app for everythingggg#but god im just glad peach is ok. like there was a moment when i was so stressed trying to update my computer because it wasnt working#and then she ate a small bit of food for the first time in 3 days and just. everything was suddenly fine again#and the other night i spent like 6 hrs just sitting here downloading and installing things on my computer#but it was fine because peach was on the chair next to me sleeping through the whole night and it was such a relief#my sister finally got her flight yesterday (after it was moved four days in a row) so that's just one less thing happening#ive started playing bg3 so that's cool and maybe ill get a chance to actually properly watch that new dav trailer lmao#that premiered at 2am on the first night peach was home from surgery and hadnt eaten or slept yet and i was too stressed to care about dav#and it really just went downhill for the next few days#god. ok. today is the first day i can actually breeaaaathe

chapter eleven: state of grace -> "this is the golden age of something good and right and real."
Your eyes opened to the warmth of sunlight flowing through your window, a relaxed breath escaping you. A pleasant smile settled on your face as you sat up, rubbing your eyes and remembering the words Harvey had confessed to you the previous night.
I love you.
For a split second, you wondered if you dreamt it all, if itâd all been too good to be true.
Then, you saw that the bouquet was still missing from its usual spot on your wall, and you knew it had all been real.
You grinned, sitting up with a renewed energy. Finally, you were able to wrench out the phrase you craved to hear from your best friend. Despite the efforts â and pain â it took to get there, you still managed to do it, which, in your eyes, was all that really mattered.Â
You recalled the insecurities Harvey had spilled to you; more so, how he felt he didnât deserve you. Out of everything that happened, those words hurt by far the most. You saw the torn, broken look in his eyes, knowing him well enough to see past it and realize his wounds werenât fresh. You didnât even want to know how long his horrid thoughts had stewed in his head. Probably way too long. What a terrible way to spend his birthday.
Then, an idea struck you â one that you knew would take the majority of the day and your best efforts, but you felt in your heart it would all be worth it to see his face light up. Besides, Harvey had never hesitated in the past to put you at the top of his list of priorities.
You figured it was time to give back.

âForgive me.â
âElliott, pleaseââ
âI know,â the overly dramatic poet choked out, grasping Harveyâs hand with both of his as if his life depended on it. âItâs terrible of me to ask you this, I know, but please, forgive me for the trouble I caused, my friend. I just . . .â Elliott looked up at the doctor, his bottom lip trembling and eyes filled with guilt. âI just couldnât stand the feeling of lying to Leah, and I knew she had no ill intentions, either, butâ oh, I know itâs no excuse for what I did!âÂ
After his birthday, Harvey decided it was finally time to reconnect with his two supportive friends, shooting them both quick texts to meet him at the Stardrop the following evening. He roughly explained everything that happened with you, not forgetting to mention the stinging silence he initially left you with. Elliottâs face dropped when he got to the part where you told him you knew about everything, how Leah had taken the big step to be the one to tell you. Fortunately, his friends were as understanding as ever, more happy than anything that he got the chance to reconcile with you.Â
Unfortunately, Elliott decided the guilt weighing on his shoulders could only be lifted by apologizing for nearly twenty minutes straight.
âAnd here I thought my life couldnât get any worse,â Shane gruffed, only half joking. He proceeded to roll his eyes so hard Harvey worried he would hurt himself. âFuckinâ hell, just forgive him already, would ya, doc? I canât stand this anymore.âÂ
Harvey scratched the back of his neck before placing his free hand on Elliottâs shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly. âItâs fine, Elliott, I promise,â he replied, unable to keep the amusement out of his tone. âItâs my fault for not telling her, after all. Besides, it all worked out, anyhow.â
âA-are you certain?â He leaned forward, nearly toppling over his seat onto the Stardropâs floor. âHow can you be so kind? Itâs truly inspiring, doctor, you must let me buy you a meal for your generosity!â
âWith what money, pal?â
Elliott fell back into his seat with a huff, managing a glare at his friend before sipping his drink. âWith the money I made from selling my first novel, thank you oh-so very much.â
Harvey blinked in surprise, while Shane gawked at him. âAre you being serious?â
Elliottâs chest puffed up in pride. âCompletely. Of course, my first patron was Leah, but Iâm planning on having a live book reading at the library soon!â Harvey smiled warmly at the sight of his friendâs joyful expression, proud to see his hard work come to fruition.
Then, Shane frowned slightly and shifted in his seat. âWhat, so you didnât even bother to ask me for one? Câmon, the least you could do after bugginâ me about this damn book for nearly a year is offer me a copy. Geez.âÂ
A pause. âYou . . . actually want one?â
âYeah, yeah, save the sap, itâll make me barf.â He paused. âItâs kid-friendly, right? Iâll get two, give one to Jas. Maybe one for Vincent, too, fuck it.â
Harvey could only laugh as he watched Elliott pull Shane into an unreciprocated hug, his eyes gleaming with grateful tears and he tightly wrapped his arms around him. Despite his loud, profanity-filled protests, there was a light in Shaneâs gaze that hadnât been there a couple seasons ago. After promising to see the therapist Harvey recommended to him, heâd slowly begun to make progress, even deciding to replace his usual beer at the saloon with a glass of pop instead.Â
âAlright, enough!â Shane finally regained his stance in his seat, running a hand through his ruffled hair. He mumbled something neither of them could hear, but Elliott beamed nonetheless.
âI hope youâll save me one, Elliott,â Harvey said sincerely. âThough, by the looks of it, you might have quite the fan already.â
âShut it, doc.âÂ
Elliott let out a hearty laugh and gestured to Emily for an order. âWell then, my dear doctor, you must emphasize on your reunion with your lover,â he pressed on, looking at him eagerly, âbut not before I order you a promised meal.â
âWhatâll it be, gentlemen?â Emily asked as she wandered over, looking at the three with a bright smile. Her gaze stopped at Harvey. âHey, what a nice surprise! I havenât seen you here in a bit. I hope youâre doing alright, people have been saying they havenât seen much of you lately.â
He cleared his throat, nodding. âThere were a few . . . things, I had to deal with, but itâs all cleared up now.â
She hummed, but something about her look was a little too knowing. âWell, thatâs all that matters, right? As long as youâre okay.â She leaned in a little then, close enough so she could whisper in his ear. âHaleyâs just about ready to murder you, though. Thought I should give you a heads up.â
She smiled sympathetically when Harvey groaned, covering his face with his hands. He didnât even bother to hear what Elliott ordered him and focused on the fact that one of your closest friends in town was probably plotting his murder.
âEveryone knows, donât they?â he asked, voice muffled. He lowered his hands to see Shane hiding his smirk with his drink while Elliott sighed.
âI wish I could tell you otherwise, but yes,â the writer responded promptly. âI wouldnât fear too much, though, especially if the two of you are on good terms! Iâm sure sheâll clear the air.â
The door to the saloon opened, and â as if your mentioning had summoned you â you walked in wearing your work clothes, dirt and grass stains covering the front of your overalls. Your eyes met his immediately, and Harvey instantly looked away, feeling as if he had just seen his crush in the hallway. You tended to have that effect on him.
After the two of you shared a kiss the night before, he insisted on walking you home, tightly holding your hand the entire way. He was visibly reluctant to leave your side, allowing himself to, for once, be as clingy as he felt. When the two of you reached your front porch, heâd grabbed your hips and drew you closer to his body, looking at you with nothing but pure adoration.
âWe have a long way to go, donât we?â he asked softly, bringing a hand up to caress your cheek.Â
You hummed in agreement, turning slightly to kiss his palm. âGood thing weâve got all the time in the world, right?â Your eyes seemed to glitter when he looked at you, his breath faltering.
Harvey didnât know why your words made him feel the way he did â then again, he couldnât explain a lot of things he felt when it came to you â but in that moment, a wave of gratefulness washed over him, and he couldnât help but pull you in for another gentle kiss. He thought back to what you had told him all those years ago, how he had good karma, and he decided you might have been right after all. There was no other explanation as to why you were still in his arms after all the trouble he caused.
âYou truly are my weakness,â he blurted suddenly. âMy vulnerability, the crack in my defense. I think I would do anything for you.â
You laughed at his words, and the sound made his heart race. âYouâve been hanging out with Elliott too much.â You paused then, leaning in closer to his ear. âIs that a promise, Harvs? Anything?â
He shivered, swallowing hard. âOf course.â
Just when he thought heâd earned another taste of your lips â a rougher one maybe, one that led to your bedroom â you pulled away, sporting a mischievous half-smile.
âIâll keep that in mind,â you chirped happily. âGoodnight!â
Harvey let out another groan at the thought, trying to ignore the stir in his pants. Weâll take it slow, he reminded himself, not even noticing your figure appearing beside him. We have all the time in the world.
âEarth to Harvey, hello?â you sang, waving a hand in front of his face. âYou there? Or is nobody home?â
He scowled as his friends stifled their laughter, though managed a smile when he turned to greet you. âHello,â he sighed, pushing his glasses up. âIgnore them, please. Iâm not sure why I associate with them.âÂ
âHey, a âthank youâ would be nice, buddy,â Shane said, voice dripping in leftover humor. âWeâre the ones whoâve listened to all your little love-sick rants.â
You perked a brow. âLove-sick, huh?â
âLetâs go for a walk, shall we?â Harvey desperately suggested, taking out his wallet and throwing some coins on the table for his drinks. âIâll talk to you two later. And, thank you,â he rushedly added. As he grabbed your hand and practically dragged you out of the saloon, he missed their lopsided grins at his words.
Harvey let out a long breath as he stepped outside, resting his hands on his hips. âI felt like I was suffocating in there,â he admitted, finding your hand once again.
You snorted. âLooked like it,â you replied, lacing your fingers with his. âI was looking for you, anyway. Did you get my text?âÂ
He blinked, grabbing his phone out of his pocket with his other hand to find one unread message from you.
Y/N : you at the saloon? iâve got a surprise for you
âA surprise?â he wondered aloud. âFor me?â
âYes, Harvey, thatâs what I said.â You smiled at his embarrassed frown, leading him through the plaza toward the clinic. âCâmon, Iâve been working on it all day!â
Just as he was about to question you further, a figure with long blonde hair and a blue tank top marched in front of him, successfully cutting off his hold on you.
âDonât think Iâll forgive you as easily,â Haley snapped, and Harvey flinched at her furious tone. âYouâre a real lucky guy, you know that, right? âCause if I were her, I would have taken those glasses and shoved âem right up yourââ
âHaley! There you are,â Leah laughed awkwardly as she grabbed the blondeâs arm, attempting to tug her away. âWeâre going to miss the movie, dear. Letâs go.â She turned to Harvey, and he was glad to be met with much kinder eyes. âIâm glad youâre alright, Harvey. Weâll see you around.â Leahâs eyes lit up. âOh, and happy birthday! Even though itâs a day late.â
âThank you,â he responded, anxiously glancing at Haley. A pout rested on her lips as her partner nudged her.
âYeah, whatever, happy birthday, I guess,â she mumbled, and you laughed at her reaction. Her expression lightened after that, the ends of her mouth lifting slightly. âI expect a call later, okay?â
âWill do.â You waved at the couple as they walked away, grabbing Harveyâs arm and continuing to lead him. âSheâs pretty mad, if you couldnât tell.â
âReally?â he asked dryly, fiddling with his tie. âI thought she seemed quite happy to see me.â You rolled your eyes, excitedly bringing him up the stairs to the fountain. âWhat is it, exactly?â
âWhatâs, what?â
âThe surprise.â
You huffed, walking past the fountain. âWell, it wouldnât be much of a surprise if I told you, would it?âÂ
âI . . . suppose not, no.â
âThen be patient, weâre almost there.â
You only stopped when the two of you reached the Community Center, two birds chirping curiously down at your arrival. Harvey examined the building, noticing how, despite it looking as beat up as it usually did, it felt more welcoming.
Before he could continue, you swiftly snatched his glasses off his face, covering his eyes with your hands.
âWhatââ
âJust go with it, Harvs, please? â
The pleading tone of your request nearly sent him spiraling. Nearly.
Take it slow.
He nodded, swallowing thickly once again. Youâre going to be the death of me, he thought. He almost voiced it to you the door opened, but was interrupted before he got the chance.
âI felt a little bad yesterday night,â you admitted, leading him somewhere unknown. âWith everything going on between us, it was hard to plan something for your birthday.â
He sighed, a pang of guilt running through his chest. âNow, you know none of that isââ
âIt doesnât matter,â you interrupted. âItâs over now, and weâre . . . good. Better than good, I think.â Harvey smiled, wishing he could see your face. âAnd, even though itâs not really your birthday anymore, I still wanted to give you something better than a dried bouquet.â
âThat bouquet means much more to me than you think. Itâs all I need, really,â he said softly, then willed himself to say his next words. âYouâre all I need.â
âAnd youâre being a big âol softie.â
Suddenly, he felt your hands drop, slowly blinking his eyes open. Of course, at first, all he could make out were blurbs of green and white.
âUmââ Although he couldnât see, Harvey could practically hear you roll your eyes as you passed him his glasses.
âSurprise.â
He couldnât believe it.
In front of him was a completely refurbished room in the Community Center, the walls smooth and the flooring void of any faults. That, in itself, was impressive to him.Â
The room wasnât exactly what caught his eye, though.
No, what caught Harveyâs attention was the various model planes scattered across the room, along with the small workbench in the corner.
âI had to go into the city to find those, it took me all day,â you explained, trying to read his reaction. His mouth remained parted as he walked around, taking his time to take in everything. âThis is meant to be the Crafts Room. Mayor Lewis asked me to fix this place up a while ago, and thatâs where I met the Junimos. Thought Iâd add my own touch, though.âÂ
Harvey nodded absentmindedly. He couldnât bring himself to speak. Quite frankly, he was in shock, unable to believe what you had done for him. His gaze only pried away when a familiar squeak sounded beneath him. He smiled as Blueberry hugged his foot.Â
The spirit looked at him expectedly, as if asking, Do you like it?Â
âItâsââ He stopped then, finally turning to face you. Warm tears filled Harveyâs eyes as he stepped forward and engulfed you in his arms, burying your face in his neck. âItâs more than I could have ever asked for. Thank you.â
He felt you slump in relief, gladly wrapping your arms around him. âIâm glad you like it,â you breathed, pulling back to see his face. âYou had me worried there for a second. I thought it was too much.â
âNo, this is perfect.â Harvey laughed, bright and unlike heâd ever laughed before, and kissed you. âI canât even find the words to explain how I feel.â
You grinned. âMaybe âhappyâ could give you a good start.â
âNo, thatâs too big of an understatement.â
âHm. âJoyous,â then?â
âI believe those are synonyms, honey.â
You blinked, a blush creeping up your neck. Harvey didnât notice, too busy walking over to the desk that seemed made for him. Blueberry poked your ankle, and you took it as a sign to stick out your hand. The Junimo happily walked up your arm, settling down on your shoulder and closing its eyes.Â
âThis . . . this looks just like the one I had in my grandparentsâ house as a kid,â he realized, eyes widening.
âYou used to spend so much time sitting there, working on your planes, ignoring me,â you added playfully. âIf you ever get bored, you can come here, now. Add to your collection. You can show them off to everyone, too, after I finish rebuilding everything.â
He flushed at that, turning to meet your eyes. âNo, I couldnât, i-itâs too embarrassingââ
âHarvey. If this ââ You swept your arm around the room. ââis what you enjoy, you shouldnât hide it. Itâs an important part of you, and I know everyone in town would be impressed.â You gently tugged at his hand, holding it strongly in your own. âPlus, I find it very endearing, you know.â
He raised a brow, grabbing your other hand. âReally? Building model airplanes is something you look for in a partner?â
âOf course. Why wouldnât I?â
Harvey shook his head, tilting it as he studied your gaze. âThis is still so surreal,â he muttered, glancing down at your interlaced fingers. âI feel like Iâm dreaming.â
You nodded, then smiled. âYou know, I never would have guessed this.â You lifted your hands slightly, giving him a reassuring squeeze. âNow that itâs real, though, Iâm not sure Iâll ever let you go.â
Harveyâs heart was just about ready to leap from his chest.
âYou wonât ever have to,â he vowed. âNever again.â
âThatâs a big promise.â
âItâs one Iâm willing to make.â
âWhen did you get so bold?â
âWhen you became mine.â
Your eyes narrowed, flicking between his eyes and lips. âIs that what I am?â you questioned, voice light and innocent. âYours?â
Slow, Harvey. You said you would take it slow.
He feigned a cough, looking away. âThatâs what the bouquet meant, right?â he asked, raising one hand to swipe his mustache. âIt means weâre official.â
The look you gave him was teasing, dangerous, but you covered it up with a laugh, starting to walk with him back towards the door. Blueberry had disappeared from your shoulder at some point; Harvey guessed even spirits grew tired of couples dancing around each other.
âCome on. Letâs go home.â
ââHomeâ?â
You looked back at him, huffing. âWeâre official, right? That means you get to help me finish up the chores for the day.â
He thought for a moment, then nodded.Â
Chores. He could do chores. Heâd done plenty of chores with you before, when the ache in your grandfatherâs back became too much and he needed a couple extra pair of hands. Chores would be good for him, Harvey thought. They would keep his mind off the uncomfortable tightness in his pants thatâd been taunting him for hours, keep his dirty thoughts at bay, hopefully even keep some distance between the two of you, just for a little. Just until he could calm himself down and remind himself he was supposed to be going slow.
âYou can spend the night, too.â
His face fell.
Iâm screwed.

Hiro updated his programming so he can have a bit of money linked to a debit card or something
Baymax has no money but found an employee instead. Baymax politely and calmly told them that he needs to get a small city's worth of pads and tampons right away, you see he has a patient and it's very urgent, and the cashier who does NOT get paid enough to argue with or explain the concept of capitalism to an 8 foot tall crimefighting robot was like "man, just go"
Baymax knows exactly how money and capitalism works but thinks it has no place in medicine, and regularly just straight-up shoplifts in the name of free and effective healthcare

so ive been using window 7 since high school, right, first on my laptop, and i stuck with it for my desktop bc windows 10 had only come out pretty recently- windows 8 had been such a fucking mess that i wanted to make sure it was, yknow, functional. i continued not upgrading bc i found the format to be kind of irritating, and also bc im lazy and have a pretty firm "if it aint broke dont fix it" policy. i continued not upgrading after they discontinued support bc i have become increasingly bitter about how much corporate spyware is crammed onto every electronic on the face of the planet.
this was fine until last year, when i finally started running into programs i actually wanted to run flat not working on win7, and by programs i mean games, and by games i mean elden ring. so i dissected my old gaming laptop, removed the 2 500gb hard drives, shoved 'em my desktop, and used one of them to dual boot the thing to windows 10, which i had to spend enough energy on setting up in a way i was comfortable with that by the end i was just like "ill use this... later..." and then didn't. i still haven't played elden ring.
im now running into more programs that aren't compatible, including csp 2.0, and i want that align tool badly enough to bite the bullet and switch to using win10 full time. this means i have to swap which drive is running which- win10 needs to be on my main hard drive (2tb, runs faster) along with all my files, win7 needs to be on one of the 500gb drives with any older progams incompatible w/ win10 (the other 500gb drive is for overflow storage; i like to micromanage my file organization).
it doesn't appear to be possible to just switch them simultaneously, which tracks, that feels like a bit of a tall ask. so the gameplan then became to:
1) empty the storage drive and merge both the 500gb drives into one 1tb partition
2) shuffle files onto flash drives so my win7 side is under 1tb (~200gb, no i do not have any one device that fits that, i had to play data tetris on like 4 different ones, if someone wants to give me $100 to get a better external that would be great)
3) make a disc image of the win7 data on my 1tb external
4) wipe the 2tb drive, move the win10 data onto the clean disc (possibly by merging the partitions?)
5) restore the file data to win10
6) re-dual boot and restore all win7 data on the 1tb side
7) make sure all my shit got shuffled over properly; move anything fully win10 incompatible onto external storage (may involve wiping external hard drive, we'll see)

im currently on: step 3! and have been for roughly 3 days now, bc large backups are Fucking Slow and it took me a hot second to find out that win7's native backup+disc image creator straight up won't process a 2tb disc, you need to download some other software. also because tech problems are bad for my blood pressure, and i have other shit to do in my life.
the backup software (it actually came with my external but i never actually installed, because i havent had to backup the entire drive and os for this pc before. the os backup was technically. like 7 years old. from my laptop. and i never thought to replace it, i just kept the files updated as needed) is currently like halfway through and if it gives me another error message before it finishes i will. i dont know. lay down and cry, probably.
did i ever actually post the tech saga. i havent been able to use my desktop properly in like a week.

now i know I've catastrophized before but i might actually be getting this time lol
#pst#txt#work#anyways time to write a cya letter!#tldr: company updated server network os in late oct\nov which was Bright White and transparent#i kept getting migraines and was having trouble seeing the windows even after a week of adjusting & doing screen adjustments#flipped high contrast mode on and immediately turned it off bc it wasnt what i needed & i thought it was a cosmetic change that wouldnt#affect anything (heres the rub)#this was fine!! until february!#supervisor asked how i got my borders blue\solid so i guess she did it too#then the next day the Most Important Programs are fucked (dark mode but shitty and the text doesnt show up)#i told her immediately and she was like 'yeah i just have to highlight the text' which is a workaround not a solution#to the problem im telling you is happening#so anyways for the last ten (10) weeks this has been a moderate inconvenience\hindrance only bc of muscle memory#but the fonts in some of the files have changed and that was causing visual issues in the cropping program for us#so they FINALLY put in a ticket to fix our profiles#but apparently they had to reset them or something instead of just like...accessing settings and changing the display mode or w\e#but they had to reset the passwords#i am currently unable to reset mine so if im still here in 3 months ill cross that bridge#anyways took 24 minutes & the IT dude was loud af so i went into dissociative 'do not perceive' freeze anxiety for the rest of the day#i am become icarus but also!! this couldve been handled 10 weeks ago#*continues looking on indeed*

Stepping out of the airport and letting Buddy free roam on a piece of grass by the San Diego International Airport felt like freedom for the Irish girl and her emotional support dog. They have spent the last seven and a half hours on two different planes with a 40 minute long layover in Denver.
Imogen didnât even have time to panic, since the flights were rather stressful. She could barely close her eyes on the four and a half hour flight from Charlotte to Denver. And once in Denver, she quickly grabbed a bite to eat before climbing the plane to San Diego, where she was currently standing.
She had never been in California before, but the humidity was already a whole other level. Not as bad as Texas had been, but very different from the other two US-states she had visited so far.
Imogen waited for Buddy to do his toilet business before walking back into the airport and towards a car renting service. She had called them beforehand, reserving a SUV for her and Buddy to use while in California.
Instead of the iconic lime green Wrangler, she had chosen a rather sleek looking car this time. A blood red and polished Porsche Cayenne was waiting for her and Imogen gaped open. âGod, this car is sexy!â She screeched, taking a few pictures from the carâimmediately in love with it. âBuddy, remind me to buy a blood red Porsche, when weâre back homeâ the woman grinned, gently letting her hands move over the exterior of the car.
âPeople will think Iâm in love with a carâ Imogen shook her head and fixed her suitcases in the trunk before fixing Buddy onto the backseat. The Husky was immediately laying down. The Californian heat was getting to him. âWeâre soon at our hotel, I promise.â Imogen climbed into the drivers seat and started the engine. The Porsche was purring under her feet and she grinned, while typing the address of her hotel into the GPS.
The traffic in San Diego wasnât as bad as Imogen had feared and she soon drove into the underground car park of the Marriot hotel she was staying in. She had booked a suite for three weeks, not sure if she was staying longer or keeping it with three weeks. She hadnât spoken to Corpse yet.
All he was aware of, was that she was finally in San Diego and that her pole dancing classes would start on Mondayâso in three days.
After Imogen had checked into her suite she sat down on the couch and stared out of the panorama window. San Diego stretched itself into the distance and Imogen immediately fell in love with the sight. She took a picture and texted it to Baylee.
Taking a deep breath, Imogen grabbed her phone and immediately called Corpse. Without shooting him a warning via message. While the phone was ringing she bit her lip. What if he was sleeping? Imogen was aware of how fucked up Corpseâs sleeping schedule was. Sheâd never forgave herself if she would wake him.
âWhaddup baby?â Corpseâs signature greeting rang in her ears and she held her breath. âA-Are we looking at the same sky now?â She asked before even greeting him. A hoarse chuckle left Corpseâs lips. âProbably not, Imogen. My blinds are closed.â Imogen gulped. She felt her heart beat faster. Somehow Corpseâs voice seemed even closer.
âIâm in San Diegoâ she whispered and heard Corpse hum. âI know. I saw your updates. Nice Porsche, Mo.â Hearing her nickname out of his mouth made the hairs on her arms stand up. She still hadnât given him an answer to his sudden confession.
âMy pole dance classes start on Mondayâ the Irish lass continued. She didnât know why she was this nervous. She was just speaking with her good friend Corpseâwho had a crush on her and was probably somewhere in this city, cuddled up in his bed sheets, his head resting on a cool pillow, while his body was snuggled in between warming comforters, giving him the solace he needed.
âI know, Imogen. You told me.â - âWhatâs the plan now?â, she asked, her voice nothing but a whisper. âYou tell me. What do you want to do?â
I want to see you.
The words didnât leave Imogenâs mouth. She couldnât just drive over to his house, bang on his door and intrude into his safe place. âDo you want to face time?â, she asked. âWhy face time, when I donât even show my face?â The boy asked and Imogen opened her mouth. âTrueâŚâ a weak laugh left her lips. âDo youâ Corpse started, âwant me to come over?â Imogen gulped. âYou donât want to face time, but you want to come over to my hotel?â A hum was coming from the other side of the phone. âI want to see you with my own two eyes, Imogen.â
Imogen bit her lip. âWould you mind giving me an hour to get ready? I canât possibly meet you when Iâm sweaty from the flight and when my make-up looks like shit.â A chuckle left Corpseâs lips. âI bet youâre gorgeous.â
Ba-dump, ba-dump.
Imogen gulped. âPleaseâ she whispered, suddenly becoming nervous. âText me the hotel, Iâll get us some food. How does pasta sound?â The young man asked and Imogen noddedâeven though Corpse couldnât see it. âThat sounds great!â Imogen had a lump in her throat. Her heart was beating faster and her hands were sweaty.
âThen Iâll see you in an hour, Mo.â Corpse said and Imogen hummed. âSee you thenâ, she whispered and the hung up. Once Corpse was off the phone, Imogen yeeted it across the room. Buddy looked up from his cushion to see Imogen stripping off her clothes.
âI need to take a quick shower, straighten my hair, put on nice clothes and do my makeup⌠in AN HOUR?!â Imogen started screaming and ran through her suite. âOh my god, whereâs my toiletries?!â
Looking at herself in the mirror, she seemed happy with the outcome. The pink plaited skirt seemed a bit short at a second glance, but Imogen wore black safety shorts under it and the black, oversized hoodie covered a bit of her arse.
Her makeup seemed on fleek too. Her eyeliners looked practically identical and the hot pink eyeshadow made the colors of her eyes pop even more. She had straightened her hair and put it up in two high setted pigtails making her seem way too cute and innocent.
âBuddy? How do I look?â Imogen asked, when a knock made her flinch. She and her dog both looked towards the door of the suite. Imogen gulped and quickly scanned the suite. It was tidyâImogen had cleaned up the mess she made (when she panicked)âand seemed presentable.
With a deep sigh Imogen walked over to the door, Buddy hot on her heels. She peeked through the peephole of the door and saw nothing but a black hoodie and some silver chains. âW-Whoâs there?â, she asked through the wooden door; her hands pressed flat against the surface.
âItâs me, Imogen. Corpse.â His hoarse voice was heard through the wood that separated the two of them and Imogen heard her heart do a tumble.
Blowing up her cheeks, she looked down, while she unlocked the door and stepped asideâhiding herself behind the door. âImogen?â, Corpseâs raw voice hit her ears and she carefully stepped up from behind the door, her eyes still glued to the floor. âH-Hiâ, she whispered.
âL-Look upâ, the young man said quietly and Imogen slowly lifted her head.

I took an other step back and hit my head against the door frame. My face twisted in a grimace and I noticed Millie holding her breath as her lips parted. I knew she desperately wanted to rush to my side and check if I was alright but the fact that she was holding the other side of the couch made it impossible for her to move.
"Are you ok honey?"
Millie had started calling me a bunch of cute names after we made it official. She kept testing new ones every day and 'honey' was definitely one of the sweetest and normal ones. If I wanted to be honest, as long as she didn't call me by my last name, I was fine with it, and she hadn't done that in a very long time. Even 'romantic little shit" was endearing to some extent.
"Yea, I'll be okay."
I moved slightly to walk through the frame and we reached the living rook with difficulty, placing the couch pretty much in the middle. There were boxes everywhere, we had moved those every day of the past week, but we wanted to bring the furniture too, we just had no idea it was be that hard to do it only us two. We had rented a truck but we were already exhausted.
Millie sighed and walked around the couch before letting herself fall on it. I wanted to complain and tell her it was not time to take a break but I decided that we did deserve one and sat next to her, placing my arm on the back of the couch. Millie immediately moved closer and it made me smile. We were like magnets for each other.
"I think I'm gonna call my cousins to get some help, after all."
"Good idea, sugar."
I frowned but a smile draw itself on my lips as I looked down at her. "Don't tell me the next cute name you'll call me will be 'candy boy', please."
She looked up and an amused smile appeared on her lips as she raised her eyebrows. "How did you know?"
"Do you know anyone who didn't hear that song before?"
This time, she chuckled and shrugged before I brought my arm around her, pulling her even closer to me and kissing the top of her head. We had finally decided to move. Our new apartment was smaller, obviously, but they accepted dogs and we had large windows and a very nice balcony. We had kept one my bed and hadn't decided yet what we would do with the free room. I didn't really care but It would be a nice place for a large shelf to put her books and a place, perhaps, for my guitar lessons.
I liked the relationship we had built, I liked how we moved forward and were now happy together, i liked how we communicated, how we loved each other, how we were always there for the other. I had never had a better relationship than that and I didn't want any other.
"How did I get so lucky?"
I blinked a few times, getting out of my thoughts, and looked down at her again. "Meaning?"
She turned on her seat to face me and look in my eyes and the way she was staring at me made something twist in my stomach. I thought it would leave after a while but it never did and I hoped it never would.
"Someone like me ending up with someone like you..."
"What do you mean 'someone like you'?"
She shrugged and looked down before licking her lips. "Someone broken like me... someone plain and ordinary."
I brought two fingers under her chin and moved her head up until her eyes met mine again.
"Millie, you're funny and smart.. honest, kind, soft and empathetic." I explained in a sweet and low tone, my eyes never leaving hers. "And you're the strongest person I know. You're so fucking strong, Mill." She swallowed and I noticed her eyes watering. "I know you're not used to people caring like that or telling you things like that and it's a shame. Everyone should be in love with you. Don't underestimate yourself. I'm the lucky one."

My cousins were gone and all the furnitures were placed exactly where we wanted them to be. There was still a bunch of boxes laying around and I knew it would take a few days before everything was where it should be but it didn't matter. We were both exhausted, I knew it, and I lied down on the couch as Millie was opening a few boxes, clearly searching for something.
"Petal, please, come lay down with me will you?"
"Just a second baby, I'm searching for something."
I moved my hands behind my head to relax and closed my eyes, breathing in deeply. I heard her move around and after a while, I frowned and opened my eyes. She was using a hammer and it suddenly stressed me. I got up and walked to the hall where she was trying to hang something on the wall. When I stood next to her, my lips parted and I held my breath.
"Is that.. my list?"
She had framed the list I had given her a few weeks before with the reasons why we were meant to be and my eyes roamed quickly on a few points.
"If I had known you wanted to frame it, I would have used my best handwriting."
"I love your handwriting. I can read the passion in every letter." she let out, turning to me with a huge smile.
"The passion uh?"
"Mmhm, the passion."
Quickly, I moved closer to her and pressed her against the wall, right next to my list now hanging near her head. She smiled even more and my lips quickly met hers, kissing her hard and deeply, feeling her hands reach my hair.
"You know we're gonna have to christen all the rooms here, right?" I asked in a low tone, my hands sliding down her breasts and stopping her her waist. I gripped it and pulled it against me before pressing her harder on the wall. "How about we start now?"
"I thought you were tired?" she asked cheekily.
"I'm fine now, I feel suddenly better."
Millie laughed and shook her head, raising her nose up. "A miracle."
I was about to kiss her again when we both heard her phone. She tried to reach her pocket but I kept my body pressed against hers, hoping she'd just ignore it. She checked it quickly and her lips curled again before she pressed them together, still staring at her screen.
"It's Louis. He asks if we're free tomorrow for a dinner with him and El's."
About a week or so ago, Louis had messaged Millie and they had a very long discussion without me. I wouldn't go as far as saying everything was back to how it used to be, but we were all trying. We had been friends the three of us for so long, I knew it couldn't end like that, but we were trying to tame each other again and see if the friendship we used to have was still possible to save. It was looking good and it made all of us happy.
"Just say yes and we'll bring the dessert." I just replied. "And then leave that damn phone on silent so I can get in your pants, pet!"
She giggled as she typed a message and just as she was about to put her phone back in her pocket, I grabbed it and put it in the back pocket of my jeans.
"Hey!"
"Enough! I want all your attention, you're all mine."
Her expression turned soft and she tilted her head. I loved the way she was looking at me. I wanted her to look at me like that forever. I wanted to make her happy forever. My life was completely different than it was a few months ago and if someone had tried to make me believe that's where I'd be now, I would have laughed. Â I would never have thought I'd find my second half in Millie. I never thought the girl who annoyed me the most and was having sex with my best friend could become the most important person in my life. I never thought the girl I had known almost all my life could suddenly make me see life differently and could make me feel things I had never felt before. The way Millie was looking at me made me believe that she felt the same way. She was surprised by the way things turned out but we wouldn't want it any other way.
"I am." she admitted in a whisper. "Which room should we do first?"

We should definitely keep an eye on Monica and her potential for powers. With Maria last episode revealed to have gone by the name âPhotonâ (which is a name that Monica uses as one of her aliases in the comics) and could inspire Monicaâs name as she develops her powers - those scans didnât look 100% normal. Monica has also used the Captain Marvel monicker in the comics
Wandaâs energy field and such being referred to as âHexâ short for Hexagon, could be a little nod to the comics where Wandaâs powers are sometimes called Hex powers
Sheâs never been referred to as the Scarlet Witch on the big screen - and it seems as though she soon may earn that code name
So we now know that Wanda stole Visionâs corpse from S.W.O.R.D, but did she actually re animate him fully? Heâs still got the gem in the centre of his forehead, but the last time he had it was in Infinity War where it promptly got ripped out by Thanos - so has Wanda found her own way of reanimating him and heâs alive or is he dead and just a trick of the mind - though from other trailers/previews, Vis is seen trying to and looks successful at leaving Wandaâs barrier
They had a little call back to Captain America: Civil War with the Sokovia Accords, which were targeting the Avengers in general but were created when Wanda lost control of her powers and killed civilians
A little joke towards Vis as playing âFather Knows Bestâ in their little suburbia - Which was a sitcom that ran for 200 episodes in the 50âs
Sparky ! A little nod to the little green dog from the Walta and King comics run for Vision and unfortunately soon meets the same fate đ
A little nod to Endgame when we hear from Monica that Wanda definitely couldâve taken down Thanos by herself had Thanos not rained fire - and Jimmy arguing that Captain Marvel couldâve just as easily done it - which leaves Monica with an angry look on her face

Can Vis âsaveâ the residents of Westview? He can still seemingly interact with peopleâs minds, with or without the mind stone - Norm soon comes out of his trance as Vis snaps him out of it and asks to call his sister and that he has to save them all from âherâ - now this âherâ could be Wanda...but it could also be Agnes and then Vis shuts him down soon enough again and Norm goes back to his sit com self
Billy and Tommy are fully aware, or at least suspect Wandaâs abilities - after asking her to bring back Sparky from the dead and speaking of Billy and Tommy - could they be semi permanent fixtures in the MCU, it would help to introduce the Young Avengers eventually. They'll do Young Avengers at some point since Kang is supposed to be a thing in the third Ant-Man.
Teddy, unfortunately, I don't think will be here for a bit (I really hope he is though!). I think the guy they hired that everyone is rumoring to be Teddy might just be an episode about Billy coming to terms with his sexuality and Wanda and Vis learning to accept it in the way that era of tv they're in would go about with that kind of episode and the dude is just a dude - but again, I really hope itâs Teddy đ
Wanda leaves the hex after a mini missile/plane tries to shoot at her - and sheâs in her Scarlet Witch costume and is seemingly mostly back to her ânormal selfâ, which includes her accent !
Lagos brand paper towels - âFor when you make a mess you didnât mean toâ - a nod to Civil War again in which Wanda accidentally blew up a building in Lagos and caused the Sokovian accords to come to fruition
The mail man again - I also think he was in the commercial but anywho - âYour mom wonât let him go farâ similar to âMuch like she wonât let anyone leaveâ a potential nod to Wanda or Agnes not letting anyone leave?
âWe canât reverse deathâ and yet she brought Vision back - keeping in mind that heâs an android but still a little foreshadow to what happened at the end of the ep? Better yet, could Pietro coming back be a distraction for Wanda? Agnes or whoever introducing someone that Wanda lives in hopes that she wonât go full on breakdown superpowers or just to give her an attachment to Westview even more and make her not want to leave at all
âShe recasted Pietroâ EVAN ! Iâm so pumped for this - it seems this could turn into the X-Men making their debut earlier than expected possibly? In any case, itâs a nice little Easter Egg to the previous Fox franchise of X-Men movies where Evan played Peter Maximoff âQuicksilverâ alongside James McAvoy as Prof X, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and so many others - and with Deadpool being confirmed as Disneyâs first R rated film, it seems Mutants are definitely on their way to the MCU

In the holiday photos, Vision goes from Turkey to Easter Bunny, to Santa and progressively gets more unhappy - realising he no longer wants to play along in Wandaâs Hex
During Monicaâs callbacks to seeing Wandaâs pain inside her head, we see a new shot of Wanda crying - it looks like itâs around the time she stole Visionâs corpse, as the outfit sheâs wearing is very similar, if not the same - could this be an after shot of when sheâs trying to bring Vision back?
During the scene where we see the footage of Wanda stealing Visionâs corpse, the S.W.O.R.D logo that appears on the table has 8 stars around the rim of the logo but then has a 9th one in the middle - could this be a little Easter Egg to the nine realms of the Cosmos? And thereâs also a map showing Cape Canaveral, could that be where S.W.O.R.Dâs headquarters are?
Wanda and Pietro were born in 1989 to Irina and Oleg Maximoff - who were killed in an air raid when the twins were 10. In the comics, Wanda and Pietro were raised by Django and Maria Maximoff, before their true parentage was revealed as being the children of Magneto, however, in the comics this has been retconned so that Wanda and Pietro are no longer Mutants and the High Evolutionary had just disguised them as Mutants (something I think they should undo tbh - MARVEL, PLEASE MAKE WANDA AND PIETRO MUTANTS AGAIN!!!)
Speaking of the air raid, that was also referenced in Age of Ultron by Pietro and Wanda - âWe were 10 years old, having dinner the four of us. And the first shell hits 2 floors below, makes a hole in the floorâ - was the beeping Stark toaster be what that was referring to?
WHIH reappears for a brief cameo as the news service in the MCU - and Hayward cuts off Jimmy as he was trying to defend Wandaâs reputation, in which Jimmy then turns to Darcy and says âI try not to speak ill of peopleâ Darcy then follows up with âThen allow me, Haywardâs a-â and then sheâs cut off by a shot back to Hayward saying the word âTerroristâ which would make sense as it seems with Visionâs corpse, he may have been trying to make sentient weapons and by subverting Visionâs will and blaming Wanda of doing the same. In the footage shown of Wanda stealing Visionâs remains, we see Vision broken up into parts and S.W.O.R.D seems to be experimenting on him and this seems to be the robotics/nanotech project that Hayward was referring to. Monica asks Hayward about the footage saying âWhen was this?â to which Hayward replies saying â9 days ago. Maximoff stormed our facility, stole Visionâs body and resurrected himâ - this would mean that Wanda took Vision 2 weeks after the events of Endgame, about a week before Monica returned to S.W.O.R.D and Hayward didnât tell her any of this and when he sent her in there, he knew exactly what he was doing - with her reputation after Civil War, this makes it easier for Hayward to paint her as the villain.
Back in Westview, Tommy wears red and Billy wears green - which are the colours that Wiccan and Speed wear in the comics, respectively. And itâs also the colours that Wanda and Vision are known for and appears quite a lot in their wardrobes
More in regards to Sparky, he was the synthezoid dog in Tom Kingâs run of Vision - the story being that he was originally a dog named Zeke who unfortunately passed away after digging up the Grim Reaperâs corpse and getting zapped. The Grim Reaperâs helmet appears during the title sequence of Episode 2 in the floorboards. Could Sparky have been trying to dig up a similar thing when he was caught by Agnes and consequently killed?
Monica mentions that she knows this aerospace engineer, theyâre never shown but she is seen texting them. Could it be Reed Richards a.k.a Mr Fantastic? Hayward did mention that some astronauts used to work for S.W.O.R.D before a mission went haywire - though it seems a bit lacklustre to introduce such highly anticipated characters this way. Could it instead be the Skrull daughter of Talos that Monica befriended at the end of Captain Marvel? She mentioned that they had extraterrestrial allies in episode 4 working with her and Fury as apart of S.W.O.R.D - in the Spanish subtitles they use the feminine articles for this engineer - so I think itâs more likely to be Talosâs daughter
The board that we saw in Episode 4 now includes the mailman, drivers license and all - could he be Jimmyâs missing witness?
The tension in the room after Jimmy references Carol is similarly seen when in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Peter asks Skrull Fury/Talos âHow about Captain Marvel?â To which Talos replies âDonât involve her nameâ. Fury, Monica and Talos were all on the side of the Skrulls by then end of Captain Marvel and the space station that Fury was on maybe apart of S.W.O.R.D. So did Carol betray them?
A slight reference to Captain America: The First Avenger is made when Monica pulls a Peggy Carter and shoots at something to see if itâs bulletproof, in Peggyâs case it was the iconic Captain America shield and in the case of Monica, it was her clothes that she was wearing after Wanda threw her out of the Hex
Abilash (Norm) never states that Wanda is the one that Vision has to save them from, itâs just âherâ - could this instead be Agnes?
When Billy is training Sparky to sit, he puts the treat by his ear up to his temple - a future reference that Billy will one day share the same powers as his mum?
During the scene in which Wanda leaves the Hex briefly, she turns the guns onto Hayward but none are trained on Monica - she may still trust Monica slightly, whereas with Hayward, she slightly more pissed off because of what he was doing to Visionâs remains. And turning a bunch of guns on the people you donât trust? Like father, like daughter as Magneto pulls a similar move in one of the X-Men films - Hopefully, the big cameo they keep teasing will be Ian McKellan as Magneto or the Magnus of this House of M adaptation
During when Agnes âfoundâ Sparky, she says he died from eating too many leaves from her plants - in the Tom King Vision run, one of Visionâs kids ends up killing Sparky and sees inside his stomach that thereâs a plant that Agatha Harkness grows in her garden
All the names that appear during the credits that Wanda tries to run to end the show and to stop Vision from talking are names of people who work on the actual Wandavision show itself
When Evan Peterâs version of Quicksilver shows up, he says âDoes a long lost bro get to squeeze his sister to death or what?â I DO NOT TRUST THIS PIETRO - Similar to Wandavision, the Fox X-Men movies moved up decade by decade - First Class was in the 1960s, Days of Future Past was in the 1970s, Apocalypse was in the 1980s and Dark Phoenix was in the 1990âs - which would make even more sense as MCU! Pietro wasnât born until 1989, whereas Peter was active during the 1980s. I reckon that this Pietro is Jimmyâs missing witness, Agnesâs husband Ralph and is disguising itself as a comforting presence to Wanda as Vision no longer brings comfort and is trying to bring Wanda back to reality - and when he shows up, the mirror in the background behind Wanda is slightly distorted but his hand looks red and in the shot as well, there seems to be a grey arm reaching towards Pietro - in the shot itself behind and in front of Wanda, thereâs nothing there but in the mirror, there is! Either way, I do not trust this Pietro and itâs just an entity trying to give Wanda the last thing that could make her happy - but it wonât last, as everything is already breaking down around her.

Going on day 5 of knowing each other, Jason and Y/N would spend the day apart. Why? Because they gave each other the chance to have family time, Jason got it by playing around with his baby siblings, playing Assassin.

He would go running through the halls playing the game that he and Dick knew all too well, it had been the only âno contactâ game they were allowed to play at a summer camp Bruce had sent them to all those years ago when they werenât adults with a bunch of other siblings, and girlfriends. But here they were, explaining the game to their younger siblings while Alfred and Bruce hung out with Barbara, who wished she could play, but was paralyzed.
Everyone missed playing games with her like they used to, but with the video game consoles in the house they did transfer a lot of their gaming to online so they could relive memories with Barbs. It was bittersweet, and everyone remembered when she became paralyzed like it was yesterday, but she always wanted them to play games like they used to, with or without her.Â
Jason admired his, hopefully, one day older sister for how she treated her disability, like it was a gift, not something that impacted her everyday life and made her have to hang up the cloak of Batgirl.
But running around chasing after Dick, because of course, he got Dick, the universe wanted them to play again, was something he missed so much. They hadnât had so much of this time, family time, ever since they all became vigilantes, and they never realized how much they missed the thrill of running around with each other.
Jason ended up getting Dick and throwing him out of the game, calling it a âselfless act of brotherhood so you can hang out with your girlâ and they both laughed at it. Titus, Damienâs dog, ended up barking up a storm at Jason when he killed Dick, like the big dog was rooting for Dick to win the tournament.
âDown boy! Itâs a game!â Jason would whisper-yell at his dog.
âYeah! Good boy, Titus! Get him!â
âNo!â Jason would yell while running throughout the house, Titus on his heels. Passing by Alfred, Bruce and Barbara, where Titus would stop and go lay at Bruceâs feet, but Jason didnât know that.
Jason would end up coming in just 10 minutes later, with a green slash on his neck. Tim, who had pulled Cass but killed her, Cass, who had pulled Jason. Tim now had two kills in the game and both were to people who could have easily overpowered him.Â
âJase! Welcome to the land of the dead,â Dick greeted him.
âGod dammnit Iâve already been here,â Jason whined in a joke.
âYou and your âI died pity meâ  jokes,â Barbara said.
âItâs called a coping mechanism, Barbs. And hi dad, Alfred,â Jason said as he waved slightly at both of them, Alfred waved back and Bruce nodded at him.
âYou could just to go therapy, Jase,â Barbara said, seeming concerned for someone who she considered her baby brother. She remember when he came into the Manor, she was older than him, sure . But he had nightmares and she and Dick would switch between who would sleep at his door at night, they both had terrible backs until the nightmares calmed down. Jason never knew they did this.
It also happened when he was resurrected, but the nightmares were worse and heâd wake all sweaty and upset. There were too many nights where batkids would be in Jasonâs bed with him from 12am to when Alfred would greet them in the morning. The nightmares had slowed down a lot in the past few years with the introduction of his Goddaughter into his life, but they still came by to remind him of what happened.
He didnât talk about it much. They would always try to edge him on about about really happened, but he was stubborn. It made sense, sure, trauma is trauma. But they all wanted to help him get better. It hurt them all that he was hurting and they didnât know how to help him get through it.

Y/N would sit on her bed that morning and finally finished organizing her criminal psychology and regular psychology notes when she came across her printed copy of Dr. Barry Allenâs dissertation she had studied so hard. She found it so weird that she was so close to someone who she looked up to in the field while also being so far in the same breath.
She didn't dote on it for long, she stocked it away with her forensics notes in their place. This, the relationship she had with Jason that intertwined her with so many people, was something she was getting used to by the minute, but it was never something sheâd get fully used to as time goes on.
She would put on a JCS - Criminal Psychology video in the background as she worked and tried to make her journal look nicer when Jason texted her,
Good morning. He said.
Good morning :)Â Â She said back.
I just lost a game against a 16 year old.
Huh?
My brothers and 2 of my sisters were playing Assassins with me right? Well my 16 year old brother, Tim, he ended up getting the better of me and beat me.Â
Oh! So you suck!
What!? No, Iâm literally so cool what do you mean? He said, it clearly had sarcasm undertones to it, so Y/N wasnât worried if she offended him with saying he sucked.
Oh yeah? Then whyâd you lose?
Well, I killed Dick.
Okay so you didnât lose, Dick lost.
It started raining a little bit, the sounds of it hitting lightly against her window, and she felt at peace. It was never hard for her to feel peace when she was by herself. She only had one roommate because she liked the silence, to be alone to collect her own thoughts in her head.
Her parents said it was because she probably had underlying mental illness that they never had the money to diagnose. She agreed. But she still didnât have the chance to do it.
Jason and her deserved so much more than what the world have given them up to this point, so when they found each other it was, in a way, the universe saying âIâm sorry, you deserve thisâ and with each passing day it made the pain they had both felt in their lives just a little bit more tolerable.
No, I guess Dick sucks at the game more than me.

Dick and I used to play it at a Summer Camp before we got kicked out.

No, for being unruly children.
You seem like you were a handful back in the day.
I was, I was the worst kid to raise, my dad has a shirt that says âProud parent of a kid who is sometimes an asshole but thatâs OKâ and he wears it all the time.
What a dad moment. Donât tell my father that shirt exists, heâll get one for my mum and himself to represent my sister and I.
Were you an unruly child as well?
I was a troublemaker. Getting into arguments with my authoritative figures about dress codes, rules, why girls couldnât carry chairs, literally anything that was unequal, I was at their throats about it.
I mean, as you should. My older sister, Barbara, and my younger sisters, Stephanie and Cassie, they would like that about you.
I feel like in someway Iâve won over every part of your family.
The rain would get more violent as time went on. Strikes and hits of lightning would strike all around the city, hitting those gargoyles on every building, she always figured they were decorative, but A/N explained that their horns were made out of copper so people wouldnât get struck by lightning. Bruce Wayne actually made that a thing, A/N said.
Y/N got a message from the dance competition that she signed up to, turns out, California was hit with a hurricane and most people evacuated. No one was allowed in or out. She guessed weather was being funky everywhere. It sucked, but she already was wishing she could spend time at home instead of out in the world.
A feeling she hated.
She would spend the rest of the day on and off the phone with Jason while it stormed. She would go to bed early that night.

Jason slipped on his vigilante uniform, the Red Hood was going to be on patrol over this night, stormy or not, it was his duty and he knew that. Did he want to go? Yes. He was killing for some action and he was going with Dick. They would probably have some âBro Timeâ which Jason wanted.Â
Even if it was silence, having Dick nearby him meant enough and gave him peace of mind.
He grabbed his guns and loaded them while packing a few extra magazines in his belt, when Dick placed a hand on his shoulder, âYou have to be careful tonight, Jase,â Dick said as he gulped down tears, âJust come back to me alive if you break off from me, okay?â
âAlive but bruised,â Jason joked.
âIâm serious. I canât lose you again and tonight is going to be massively dangerous.â
âYou wonât.â

~POV Mori~
I woke up when it was still dark out. Only the faintest light came in my windows.
I hadn't done anything yesterday. Just laid down and rested for the first time in a long time. The doctor's were convinced I needed one more day of rest, but I knew I was already better. When was the last time I had just let my body rest like that when I wasn't sick? I couldn't remember. This peace was nice.
The quiet of sunrise was only broken by the faint sound of bird calls in the distance. I sat up and closed my eyes. I focused everything on my other senses. I couldn't hear the ocean easily from here. I had wanted to use the sounds of the waves to meditate, but I would just have to do without.
It had been a few days since I last checked in with myself and really focused inward. I could still feel them, all of the Black Rukh that had merged with me back in Balbadd. They were much calmer than before. And they felt like a part of me now, like I might be incomplete if they were suddenly gone. I knew each one from the dreams too. Their lives were mine and each also now knew my life as their own.
Going through all of their lives on the ship would have been painful even without being sick. These were angry souls and they did not welcome the inner peace I was offering easily, but a person's Rukh doesn't lie. After reading this world's truth through my memories they all calmed.
All of us lived lives of loss and poverty and trauma. That must have been another part of why we were able to fully merge in such a short time.
As Black Rukh they couldn't return to the Great Flow where the rest of their loved ones were, but they at least had each other within me.
It was a very strange feeling.
And along with their lives and Rukh, their magoi was also now mine. What had felt like a small pool now felt like a large lake. I had a lot more magoi at my disposal now that they were fully integrated with me.
The Great Bell range and I grounded myself in the present.
Only then did it occur to me that I was probably sick, and suffering from the influx of Rukh separately at the same time. It had been both all along. Whatever illness I had was worsened by my situation with the Rukh. I hadn't lost my magoi manipulation during it, but it was probably learning it ahead of time that had saved me. There's no way such a large amount of Rukh entering me wouldn't have made my body unstable.
Would the doctors understand if I explained it to them? I should ask Sinbad before saying something unnecessary.
The dim light from my windows called to me. I got out of my bed, put on my glasses, and sat on the sill of one them at the encouragement of the waves.
Like this, I could look down and see the Palace court yard. On the other side of the court yard were the Silver Scorpio (martial arts training), and Black Libra (libraries & schools) Towers, behind them to the left was the Red Cancer Tower (military) and fully to the left was the Purple Leo Tower where Sinbad lived. Since I was on a high floor I could easily see all of the towers of the Palace from my windows -all except the White Capricorn Tower where Ja'far does most of his work since that building was on the other side of this one.
It was so strange. Looking at all this made it real that I was really here. How many times had I reread or rewatched scenes wondering what it would feel like to be here?
I rested my head on the window frame as I watched the growing light from the sunrise.
The guards changed.
The sun was fully risen. Ja'far would be waking up Sinbad soon if he hadn't already.
Two people walked out of the Purple Leo Tower -a guard and a woman. She wasn't wearing a uniform. In fact she was wearing less than the citizens I saw the other day.
"Oh, right."
Sinbad has a call girl see to him after Ja'far wakes him up.
I had the 3rd fan book for the anime which contains a day-in-the-life for a bunch of the main characters. It was only in Japanese, but I had learned enough (and could look up what I didn't know) to at least read his schedule.
The direct translation was for a "temporary woman" which from what I've found is the Japanese term for a fem sex worker. I've seen some translations for Magi's extra material refer to them as "call girls" so that was the term I chose to use.
The franchise used the word "harem" in a bunch of places, but purposely didn't use it here. That combined with an omake of Sinbad having a nightmare about being married and having a harem made it clear that Sinbad did not have a harem; he had the whole red-light district of his country to choose from.
Hold on... That book wasn't supposed to reach my house until after I had Isekaied so how did I know it's contents? There were barely any scans or photos of pages online-
*Knock knock*
My thoughts
were cut off when breakfast arrived -with more medicine of course.

~POV Sinbad~
Nearly a week had passed since King Sinbad had arrived home. There was a lot to catch up on. As much as he wanted to finally relax after everything that happened in Balbadd he didn't really have the time for it. Even after catching up he would still have to prepare for his trip to the Kou Empire. And Ja'far wasn't letting him forget either responsibility.
None of this stopped him from having his slow mornings. He at least gave himself that little slice of heaven.
This was business as usual -at least it was supposed to be- but Sinbad couldn't shake a growing feeling that he couldn't name. It was making him unsettled. The waves didn't give him any answers and drinking hadn't made it go away. It felt similar to missing important.
He wasn't missing any paperwork. There had been an issue with one of their supply ships going missing, and another being delayed, but he had already decided how to proceed. He was definitely interested in the progress the Black Libra Tower was making with testing Mori's theories, but the experiments would take time and they had already scheduled a meeting for an update. The new guests were still settling in. Alibaba was a mess and Aladdin was only marginally better the last time he had visited, but Morgiana was fine and already training with Masrur regularly. According to the doctors reports, Mori would be better in another day or so, and the reports he got from the maids said she was resting every day after giving that partial scroll.
Maybe this was impatience. Aside from his paperwork, everything interesting was either done or waiting for the next step.
Sinbad often walked his country in the evening, but there was no reason he couldn't check on things now. He didn't have time to go for a walk at that moment, but he could spare the magoi needed to use Zepar and fly around the country using the bird he had possessed with the Djinn's power. This wouldn't be the first time he'd done this while working on paperwork.
The bird was sitting on a railing in the city center when Sinbad took over. From this spot he could make some quick rounds in the city and then maybe make a stop in the Black Libra Tower to get a sneak peak at what they had found out so far.
The same old gossip filled most of the streets. Some price complaints, who just had a child, how work was going...
"You're serious? A prophet?â
"My husband saw the scrolls she made from her visions with his own two eyes."
Now that was new gossip.
Sinbad had the bird land near by the two women.
"Oh? What was in them?"
"He said it was like reading secrets of the world."
"Really???"
"Mhmm." She nodded. "Not everyone believes it though so they are all working to test her writing."
"Didn't you just say she was brought in by our King? Do they really think he'd be fooled by some false prophet?"
"I said the same thing! And you know what my husband said? He said that they need to find proof even if they believe the Prophet because otherwise we won't be able to prove it to our allied countries."
"I guess that makes sense..."
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Oh! I think I might know what she looks like!â
"What? How? You only learned about her just now."
"When King Sinbad came home, there was a girl on some magical flying cloth, remember? That has to have been the Prophet!"
"I think you're right!"
To two moved on to some other gossip and King had the bird fly towards the Palace. Listening to talk about his Beautiful Prophet reminded him of his mission to peek at what was happening in the Black Libra Tower. Being able to bypass the stairs and the gates made the journey much faster.
The Sun was already in the western side of the sky. Shadows were cast onto the court yard from the Black Libra Tower. The stone of the Green Sagittarius Tower was nearly blinding white from the direct light. Color flashed in the corner of his eye as the bird flew past the upper levels of the guest tower. Before his thoughts had fully registered the familiar shade of nearly black indigo, Sinbad was guiding the bird to investigate. He landed on the railing of one of the windows and looked at the young woman resting against that same window's frame.
Mori looked just as surprised to see a bird land right in front of her as he was to be there. Sinbad had purposely been avoiding using Zepar to spy on Mori since she somehow knew that he had eavesdropped on her before. It had been days since he last saw her, so when she was suddenly an option-
"Heh hehe"
Mori's chuckle and smile took his full attention. He didn't know what had made her laugh, but he hoped she'd do it again.
"Sir, are you aware you are a bird?â After the words passed her lips she was struck by a giggle fit.
Sinbad had no idea what she was thinking or why she had said that to a bird, but he was hearing her voice for the first time in nearly a week so he'd worry about figuring it out later.
When Mori finished laughing at her own joke she leaned her head to the side and watched him. Her hair shifted and another lock spilled over her shoulder. The sight brought attention to the low neckline of the dress she was wearing. If Sinbad was there in person he would have brushed her hair out of the way just to have an excuse to touch her.
"Did you miss me that much?" Her voice was soft and a bit playful. "You didn't have to use Zepar to visit me."
Mori knew it was him! Sinbad jolted and his head hit the back of his chair in his office. How could she tell? Only magicians could see magoi and Rukh to see the spell active on the bird.
"Sin, is something wrong?-â Ja'far had just entered the room to give his afternoon report.
King Sinbad raised a hand for him to be quiet and tapped Zepar's ring to explain the situation. He didn't want to talk and miss something Mori said or did.
The General's expression turned serious and nodded as he went quiet.
When Mori didn't get a response from the bird she added, "Are you surprised that I knew it was you?" Her smile was warm as the sun. "I have read your Fate many times, so I will always recognize you, my King."
Normally, the idea that someone could see through Zepar's magic would concern him, but this didn't. It strengthened his belief that Fate had guided Mori to him.
And the affectionate way she said "my King" at the end made him smile. The waves had moved like this a few times like the last time he had seen her in person, and when he learned she could also feel the waves. The Great Flow of the Rukh was guiding them to the Fate he could see, the one where she lived the rest of her life by his side.
Ja'far sighed. "Just let me know when I can give you my report."
Mori whipped her head towards the door to her room. "They're here early."
There were the sounds of people walking in the hallway, but no voices to denounce who, or their destination. All the same, Mori got up and walked to the door. She opened it before the doctors had a chance to knock.
"How did you...?" One of the doctors asked.
"I recognized the sound of your footsteps," was her answer.
"I see.... And how are you feeling today?"
Mori walked into her room, and spared a glance at the bird still watching her from the window. "I feel fine. Just like yesterday." She turned back towards the door and sat on the edge of her bed. "So can I finally leave this room?"
The doctors were understanding but they still were going to do a full check up first.
Even without the waves it was obvious that Mori was going to be marked as full health. Sinbad would prefer to go see her immediately and give her a tour of the Palace personally, but he was still a King with responsibilities. "Ja'far, Mori has just been declared healthy. What do you think of everyone having dinner together to get everyone better aquatinted?"
"I didn't hear anything about-â Ja'far started and then cut himself when he realized. "Were you just using Zepar to spy on her??"
"Of course not." Sinbad said with all of the confidence of the King he was. "I flew directly to her and she recognized me instantly. I wasn't spying at all."
"She recognized you??" Of course he'd be shocked.
King Sinbad laughed. "She did. Though she was surprised to see me."
"I bet she was surprised to suddenly see a bird in her room. What made you think to use Zepar instead of visiting her in person? You're already getting regular reports on her condition." Ja'far always acted as a buzz kill.
It didn't stop Sinbad from laughing at the situation before finally asking for that report he postponed earlier -conveniently avoiding answering Ja'far's question.
The magician in Mori's room was talking. "Would you be interested in visiting the Black Libra Tower with us? We can show you how the experiments are going. And if possible, would you be willing to answer some questions?"
That was an understandable request, but it could wear her out.
The Prophet was facing away from the windows so Sinbad couldn't see her expression. "I'd really like that actually." But he could hear the excitement growing in her voice.
"Let me get changed real quick." Mori disappeared behind her folding wall and emerged in the outfit he met her in.
Sinbad did not drop control of the bird, but he also didn't follow Mori out of her room. Instead he waited in the window sill until he saw her enter the courtyard and then had the bird fly to the Black Libra Tower.

As soon as he finished whatever last minute things Ja'far was about to add to his pile, Sinbad would go to the Black Libra Tower and surprise his Beautiful Prophet in person.
~POV Mori~
In the manga and in the anime the only areas shown of the Black Libra Tower were Yamuraiha's office/lab and one of the libraries. I was more than curious about the rest of the facilities.
The first room seemed to be a reception area and had a map of the tower. I only got to glance at the separations between the libraries, offices and class rooms before a tall and lanky magician walked up to us.
"Is this her??â Her short ponytail bounced as she looked between me and my guides.
Isa, the magician who had been taking care of me the past few days, introduced me. "This is Lady Mori, the Prophet!â He acted like he was showing off the coolest toy on the playground.
The tall woman got right up in my face. "I knew she had to be the Prophet! The Rukh don't normally move this way around people."
Before I got to respond she started rambling comments and questions that covered everything in maroon and peacock blue getting sponged across a cream canvas. I stepped back and Isa cut her off. "Lady Mori will be answering everyone's questions in time. We were just on our way to see Yamuraiha so I can show her how everything has been coming along. You are welcome to join us."
She definitely joined us. As did many others who spotted us or were called over by others in our procession.
We walked through a few library areas, and up a few flights of stairs. As we passed various rooms and areas I was told what or who would be inside, but I wouldn't remember any of the specifics until I had a chance to use the space and explore on my own. What did stick was that most of the classrooms were next to the libraries and the labs were near the offices.
Yamuraiha must have heard our group from down the hall because her head popped out from one of the rooms ahead of us. "What is going on out here??â Then she made eye contact with me. "It's you!!"
That made me smile. I fought back responding 'it's me!' like I would with my friends. "I'm Mori. I'm glad I'm finally getting the chance to meet you, Yamuraiha!â I stopped walking when I got 3 yards/meters away.
She immediately pulled her staff against her chest with both hands. Her shoulders tensed but she had an enthusiastic smile. "The pleasure is all mine!"
Yamuraiha was amazing, smart, and endearing. I really wanted to be friends with her.
I out stretched my hand to shake hers. "I'm really excited to work with you, and learn more about magic even though I'm not a magician."
"The feeling is mutual!â She took my hand more than matching my excitement. And when she released it said, "Since you're here, would you like to see what we've been working on from the scrolls you gave us?"
"Yes please!â

The lab she lead us to was a little down the hall. All of my scrolls were spread out on one table and a bunch of notes and different materials were on an other.
Yamuraiha pulled out parchment that had a complicated magic circle written on it. "We can't do much yet, and it still takes a catalyst and many magicians at once to control the amount of magoi safely but our alchemy magic has made a breakthrough from your writing."
She asked a few of the magicians that came with me to join her. They pointed their staffs and wands at the magic cycle. A large crystal in the room started glowing, and the Rukh lit up the space from within the circle. Specks were pulled out of the pile of ingredients nearby -dirt, scraps paper, a small potted plant- and gathered at the center of the circle. The light got too bright for me to look straight at it and when it faded there was a small dark grey cube in the middle of the circle. It looked like a die with no markings.
Yam explained. "After reading about 'atoms' and 'bonds' in your scrolls it was like finding the missing piece. It will still be a long time before we can perfect the process, and we still can't make anything bigger than this yet, but soon we will be able to make anything we want!"

I had to respond; I couldn't just continue staring in awe. When I tried to answer I ended up gasping since had forgotten to breathe. I chuckled at my own shock as well as the situation. I looked up at them. "You're all amazing to be able to develop this already from the little I wrote!" I looked back at the stone. "I knew I wrote the keys to Yunan's signature alchemy magic in those scrolls, but to think you've already gotten this far with it -its amazing."
With this -when developed farther- we could make certain materials without having to worry about the pollution, and break things down easily so we won't have to worry about garbage piling up everywhere.
"Did you say Yunan? The Magi, Yunan?" Yamuraiha looked at me with wide eyes.
"Yes." It was my turn to explain. "Yunan is able to use alchemy magic like this on a grand scale. In the Fates I read he will have reason to visit Sindria in about 2 years. He creates a cabin and food in the middle of the Palace court yard so he has somewhere comfortable to stay."
The bird in the window ruffled it's feathers.
"Yunan explains the basic concept of how that magic works when asked, and since I know the science of the physical world I know the details to what he was talking about." My smile widened. "I hope my notes were easy to understand. Please let me know if you have any questions."

OIKAWA TOORU - YOUR KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOURÂ
okay, okay, i know i said i post no requests or updates on a saturday night BUT one of the boyfie hcs have been stuck in my head and i couldnât help myself whoops
summary - the library is one of the last places you want to be but the day you finally encounter the pretty boy of the school oikawa tooru, you suddenly find yourself thankful for having homework to complete - fluff

internally screaming you stared down at the papers scattered across the table you were sat on. you felt like youâd been slaving away with a pen for hours upon hours when in reality you had only arrived 2 hours ago, including all the breaks you took inbetween.
you wanted to scream at the amount of assignments you had been set, you couldnât blame anyone other than yourself though. you werenât a total slacker but every time you tried to complete work at home, youâd find yourself distracted by the unspoken calls and pleas coming from netflix begging you to binge all the studio ghibli films theyâd put on there. today you finally decided it was time to finally pay a visit to the dreaded library and to your surprise you were managing to get a lot done; you still werenât enjoying yourself though.
staring down at the papers, you noticed you needed a book related to the module you were studying. you clicked your tongue silently cursing yourself for forgetting to bring your own material.Â
you quietly stood up and wandered around the tall, towering maze of bookcases, eyes scanning for the genre and title you were looking for. after a good 10 minutes you finally found the section the book you needed was supposed to be left in. your eyes danced over all the books until you finally spotted it.
4 shelves too high for you to reach.
âwhy do the library advertise borrowing books when they put the stupid things too high for you to take anyway?â you quietly muttered under your breath as you looked around for a small step ladder or stool. no luck.
despite the situation being utterly hopeless, you still attempted to the for the book. balancing on your tip toes and stretching your arm as high as it would go, your finger tips skimmed the base of the 4th shelf. just a little more stretching surely.
your fingers lightly touched the spine of the book you needed. you mentally praised yourself as you got ready for one last stretch in order to finally grab the book and make it yours.Â
a hand reached over the top of your head, pulling the book out effortlessly. shocked you spun around with a glare plastered across your face.
âi don't know if the stretching and balancing was obvious or not, but i was clearly struggling to get that book so itâs only fair i get itâ
you heard a small laugh from above you as your eyes widened.
âit was the cute little grunts and whines that made it obvious you were strugglingâ
there towered the well known setter and captain of the boys volleyball team, oikawa tooru. your mind went blank as he smiled down at you, book still firmly in his grip.
âyouâre lucky i, your knight in shining armour, happened to notice you or you have never gotten the book or back to your work.â
his silky voice brought you out of your trance as he place the book into your hands.Â
finally looking up at him, oikawa gave his typical closed eyed charming smile at you. that was until he opened his eyes and got a clear view of your face. his smiled dropped as a genuine look of interest replaced the smile he previously held.
sure, there were pretty girls around school, hell, he even had pretty girls approach him outside of school, but you? you were something else. heâd never seen such natural beauty before. his eyes glittering as he stared into your own, he felt like he was staring into a million constellations when he looked into your eyes. how had he never seen you before?
âyeah? well thanks, uh, oikawa? yeah, no thanks for thatâ
you gave a small, confused smile as you turned away to make your way back to your table.
you felt your wrist being gently grabbed as you stopped yourself from yelping when you got pulled back slightly.
âwhoops! s-sorry! i just wanted to ask, what class are you in?â
â3Bâ
âoh yeah! youâre in iwa-chans class aren't you?â
âiwa-chan? oh, iwaizumi-san? yeah i amâ
âhe never told me there was such a pretty girl in his classâ
âprobably because heâs not shallow and doesn't careâ
âum ouch? am i not allowed to compliment ones physical appearance?â
ânot when you tell every other girl thatâ
âincorrect. im polite to other girls, but im an honest man, and i honestly think you are gorgeousâ
you snickered at this. was THE oikawa tooru really trying to flirt with you in an isolated library isle?
âwell, i honestly need to get back to my work now so... i guess it was nice meeting you? thanks for the bookâ
âlet me work with you!â
you turned around again and stared at the brunette.
âi hate it here, i canât focus please let me work with youâ
you dramatically sighed and grabbed his arm.
âwell since you did come to my rescue, i suppose i can offer a seat at my table for the poor boy in front of meâ
âyouâre literally sitting aloneâ
âyou a stalker or something?â
oikawa laughed quietly and allowed you to lead you back to your table, covered with books and papers.
âiâll go grab my stuff, iâll be right backâ
oikawa left and you glanced his way as he quietly meandered his way 3 tables over. so he wasn't a stalker, he wasn't sat to far originally, he would've seen you were sat alone.
âfinally understand that i wasn't stalking you yes?â
âshut it, weâre in a library donât talk to meâ
you smiled, no ill intention behind your words as the setter took his seat opposite you, laying his own work out across the table. he hummed in amusement as he settled down and got back into his own work.
before you knew it, the two of you were deeply immersed in your own pieces of work as you hastily worked through your assignments, you both stealing glances at each other when you thought the other wasnât looking and engaging in small conversation with oikawa from time to time.
âokay but what's your favourite film?â
âany studio ghibli oneâ
âif you had to pick?â
âhowls moving castleâ
oikawaâs eyes twinkled as he learnt more and more about you, enjoying the little comments and questions youâd ask each other. you also found oikawa was nothing like youâd heard. iwaizumi had mentioned to you that âshittykawaâ was âannoying and insufferableâ but you found oikawaâs company particularly comforting.
finally completing your work, you felt like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders.
you stretched and sighed quietly in happiness as a lazy smile spread across your face. oikawa looked up and put his own pen down looking at the material heâd produced over the past 3 hours.
âweâve been here foreverâ you whispered looking around the now increasingly empty library. the sky had been painted a dreamy section of colours as the windows allowed the pinks, yellows and oranges in the sky, cast a soft golden light through the hall.
âit felt better working with youâ oikawa smiled so genuinely it made your heart warm.
âagreed.â
the two of you packed up your stuff and headed out together. the two of you walked beneath the picturesque sky. oikawa had a soft smile painted across his face as he looked at you.Â
being the gentleman he is, he walked you home after insisting he was raised with understanding it was polite and responsible to do such a thing. giving in, you allowed him to walk back to your house, conversation flowing as you walked. when you finally reached your house you turned to him and smiled.
âwell, this is me, thank you for walking me home oikawa-san, iâm glad we both got our work done. well, see you around school i guess.â
you smiled politely and turned to go into your house until his voice made you halt.
âhey, y/n-chan?â
âyeah?â
âwould you wanna study together more often?â
âlike study datesâ you teased at him.
âi wanna take you on real dates too, only if youâll let me of courseâ
â...i think iâd like that. my knight in shining armour.â

Volume 1, Chapter 9-Family
Quick notes: I'm switching to one update every two weeks for now (sorry my schedule is really busy with new job) and will update on my twitter if I cannot make the biweekly Friday updates...o-(-( trying to rope another translator in, so we shall see how that goes! Chapter 10 and 11 are both pretty short so I think we should be good for those chapters. Okay on to the main course: enjoy!

For three straight days, the mountain villa became unusually lively yet again; it was all because the elder Young Master Shen had come back from the gates of death.
In the midst of this clamoring noise, Shen Qingxuan was as calm as usual. Dressed in a crescent white robe, he sat on the chair with a smile and easily accepted the concern that came from all directions. He nodded and listened attentively in a modest and well-mannered way while maintaining a cultured and refined manner.
This stirred another wave of pitying voices that all said, Such a good kid, and yet fate would tease in such a way.
Shen Qingxuan had already perfected an entire body of copper skin and iron bones towards these pitying words, so when he heard them, naturally, they did not hurt or itch. Yet these words stirred the thoughts of Mother Shen who was next to him. She shed tears several times, and yet she feared that Shen Qingxuan would be even more upset once he saw her, so she swiftly hid her face by turning away to wipe her tears.
How could these actions of hers hide from Shen Qingxuanâs sharp eyes. With the affinity between a mother and a child, Shen Qingxuan knew what she was thinking, so he also pretended that he did not see her and shifted his gaze onto other people.
When the banquet opened, Shen Qingxuan had the servant girl push him from the table to leave. Everyone knew that Shen Qingxuanâs body was frail and could not drink wine, simultaneously, he was still recovering from a serious illness so he could not accompany the guests and tax his mind. Thus, one after another, they urged him to rest well and waited for Shen Qingxuan to leave before they started toasting and drinking wine to their fill.

Shen Qingxuan returned to his room and listened briefly to the outside noise through his window lattice before he laughed bitterly to himself. Who knows how many times these kinds of banquets had been held, and who knows how many more times they will be held in the future. Who knows?
Even if Yi Mo helped him, and allowed him to be no different from any other person after this year, he, however, still did not know what hardships he would suffer in the future.

Feng shui fluctuated and worldly affairs were fickle.
Ever since he was resuscitated from the ice cave, Shen Qingxuan finally understood the meaning of these eight words that his father constantly uttered from his mouth.

The footsteps were quite brisk and carried impatience as well as the unique heavy sound of an officialâs boots. Shen Qingxuanâs gloomy eyes lit up slightly, the smile he always wore on his face also showed some sincerity.
âGege!â The doors were suddenly pushed open, stirring up bits of dust. The sun shone in from the outside and revealed a clean-cut face in between the dancing dust particles. Because it was a meeting with family, that heroic and spirited face carried some of the rashness of a child.
When he saw his elder brother sitting on the chair and looking at him with an expression full of smiles, the young man was embarrassed all of a sudden. He quickly drew back his hand, and recovered a degree of steadiness before he said in greeting, âGege.â
Shen Qingxuan beckoned with his hand, calling the man over to his side. Then he grabbed the manâs hand to pull down that tall body, flicked the manâs forehead with his finger out of habit, and said silently, I thought you had made some progress, how are you still this reckless.
Ever since childhood, Shen Zhen has been able to read his elder brotherâs lips. He hastily used a hand to massage his unscathed forehead and harrumphed, âI wanted to be more reserved, but I was worried I would scare you into not recognizing me as your very own didi.â
Hearing this, Shen Qingxuan smiled while he stroked his brotherâs neatly bound hair piece
, and asked, How did you have time to come see me today?
âGege just recovered from a serious illness, how could I not come?â Shen Zhen squatted down with one hand propped on his elder brotherâs leg and moved in front of him to act like a spoiled child, just like when they were children. His eyes were full of faith and dependence only possible between oneâs flesh and blood, a bond thicker than water. Shen Qingxuan looked at this face that was remarkably similar to his second motherâs face, and could only feel tranquility in his heart. Towards this face that had stuck to his side from childhood, he really could not summon any hatred.
Even if he knew full well that he was reduced to this sorry state today all because of this person.
The second son of the Shen family, who had just turned one year old that year.

Master Shen had once held his eldest son with one arm and with his other arm, he cradled his second son who was still in his swaddling clothes, sucking on his thumb and quietly sleeping. Then he turned to his two wives and said, full of pride, âIn the future, this eldest son of mine will bring honor to our Shen family and receive noble titles. When we get old in the future, the matters of our support and burials will depend on this little guy. In this way, the Shen family is basically perfect."
All the expectations in his words fell on Shen Qingxuan who was merely seven years old.
He only saw his eldest sonâs intelligence and considered the Shen family status, but he never saw the smiles of his two wives who were standing in front of him, and how much reluctance and grievance was hidden in the smile on one of the two faces.
Why? Just because he was the second son, so he could only end up with a captive-at-home, mediocre, and nameless future for the rest of his life?
The woman was narrow-minded, and at the time, did not consider that each person had their own fate. If indeed her son worked hard, how could Master Shen disregard his sonâs future? It was nothing more than careless words said in a moment of joy. Yet she took it seriously. She developed malicious intentions and harmed Shen Qingxuan for the rest of his life.
When she finally understood this, the transgression had already been committed.

With a pat on the back of the youth who laid on his knees, Shen Qingxuan looked at him as he said, After becoming an official, you have probably fallen behind on the sword and spear, no?
Shen Zhen shook his head at once. âThere is no such thing. If gege does not believe it, we can go to the courtyard and I will perform for you.â
Shen Qingxuan laughed as he nodded, and Shen Zhen promptly got up to push him. The two brothers went out the doors of the room, stopping in the spacious area in the middle of the courtyard.
Shen Zhen retrieved a long staff, flashed a showy move, and said while holding the staff, âGege look closely, didi is showing off the staff for you.â
Shen Qingxuan was still smiling a smile without restraint.
Seeing this, Shen Zhen also grinned. The wooden staff in his hand started to move around like a nimble snake. As he brandished the staff, it swept up a whistling wind, stirring dust in every which way and blurring light and shadow. When he struck the ground, it reverberated with a heavy sound, and with a great force, trenches appeared in the sandy yellow soil.
Shen Qingxuan watched closely, enthralled until a set of staff exercises were completed and he promptly clapped his hands, not at all hiding his desire to praise him.
After receiving his eldest brotherâs praise, Shen Zhen became even more pleased with himself. He tossed aside the staff, picked up a spear, and flaunted another set of spear exercises for Shen Qingxuan to watch. It was slightly inferior to his staff technique, yet it still gave a vigorous feeling of strength.

The two brothers were in the courtyard, one person performing for the other to watch. They played until the red sun set into the evening, then Shen Qingxuan indicated for him to stop and called for a servant to bring over a wet cloth and hot tea.
Shen Zhen noisily downed a cup of tea, wiped the sweat from his face, then moved closer towards Shen Qingxuan again, and said, âGege, do you have any advice?â
Shen Qingxuan cast a sidelong glance at him, What advice do I have for you?
Shen Zhen laughed mischievously, âGege come on, dad said when you were little you liked to brandish spears and play with sticks. You even secretly took the martial arts teacherâs polearm to poke a birdâs nest and made the master really angry, do you dare deny this?â
Hearing this, Shen Qingxuan thought back and vaguely recalled some pieces, but could not remember more concrete details.
These old affairs from years ago, if Shen Zhen had not mentioned them, Shen Qingxuan could not have thought of them. Even though Shen Zhen mentioned them now, he still could not remember.
Occasionally, there were fragments that floated and flashed across his mind, but he did not think those things had happened to him.
Those past events felt faintly like a previous life, or perhaps an even more distant time ago, that was soaked by the yellowing of time into a sheet of brittle and thin paper, breaking with just one touch.
Fragmented and incomplete.
Shen Qingxuanâs expression slightly dimmed into gloominess.

Shen Zhen realized he misspoke and changed the topic at once. He tugged the hand Shen Qingxuan was resting on his knee, and said eagerly, âGege, I get to visit the mountains for once, and you made me work this half-day. How about you play a board of chess with me?â
Shen Qingxuan roused his spirits and asked, What happens if you lose?
Shen Zhen rubbed his temples, then whispered near his elder brotherâs ear, âLike old times?â
Shen Qingxuan became happier too and nodded in agreement as the two men went back inside.

They let the serving boys send the tea and pastries into the room. After everything was prepared in order, Shen Zhen fastened the doors and windows tightly and checked again if they were secure or not. It was like he was deeply afraid of someone discovering something and had the guilty expression of an uneasy thief. Watching this, Shen Qingxuan could not stop his muffled laughter.
The cushioned mat was spread out on the daybed and the two of them sat opposite each other. Shen Qingxuan wiped the chessboard again then took out the black and white pieces and asked, Like old times?
Shen Zhen nodded his head immediately, as if he was afraid that he would back out, and snatched the black pieces, putting down a piece first, then another piece, and then another piece again.
As soon as the chess game started, he snatched the black pieces and put down three of them.
Shen Qingxuan raised his brow and looked at him for a long moment, soundlessly chiding, You really have not grown at all.
Shen Zhen quickly countered, âYou are the elder brother and older than me by seven years so you should actually have let me by seven pieces. Now it is only three pieces, my progress is already not small at all.â
Shen Qingxuan held the white piece as he put one down and ignored him.
Shen Zhen quieted down as well, observing the match and beginning to play seriously.
Shen Zhen took the advantage at the beginning, and in the time of one stick of incense, he had killed the game into a treacherous and hard to predict match. With sharp moves, he encircled a portion of Shen Qingxuanâs white pieces, feeling rather pleased with himself.
However, Shen Qingxuan did not even lift his head, and solely focused on placing his pieces. When the match had gone on for a period of two sticks of incense, Shen Zhenâs sharp peaks and edges were all chopped off to nothingness, not one was spared. Furthermore, White was like a dragon entrenched in a mountain range, biding its time to act, just waiting for a command so that it could seize the land in this game within an instant.
âGege.â Shen Zhen wiped the cold sweat that did not actually exist from his forehead and said hastily, âGegeâs opening and closing were well considered with an impressive performance this matchâŚâŚâ how about you spare didi this time?
He had not finished speaking before Shen Qingxuan, with a smile in his eyes, had already turned around to take the pen that was placed to the side. He filled the pen with ink and unhurriedly wrote: Do not flatter me. Lift your face up.
Shen Zhen instantly shut his mouth and handed over his face with misery.
A moment later, a big, crawling tortoise had been added to that handsome face.
Shen Zhen jumped down from the daybed and grabbed a mirror to look at his face. He moaned and groaned, âThe more I flatter, the more lifelike this tortoise gets. So it is clear that this flattery still needs to be flattered, especially gegeâs flattery.â
Shen Qingxuan impatiently patted the chessboard, saying, Again.
Shen Zhen had no choice but to return to his seat. He also carefully checked the windows to see if there were cracks so as to prevent any other people from seeing him. That would be so embarrassing.

Up until dinner time, the two of them still had the doors and windows tightly shut, unwilling to come out. All the servants waited outside because the people inside still had not allowed them to set up the dinner. This finally alarmed Master Shen.
When Master Shen heard that his sons refused to take their meals, he rushed over at once and stood outside the doors as he asked, âWhat kind of mishap have you two gotten into?â
Only after a moment did Shen Zhenâs voice come from the room, âDad, I am playing chess with xiong zhang.â
At first, Master Shen was baffled, and then his face held back a strange expression. He stood for a minute before he waved away the crowd of servants. âYou all go on first, keep the dishes warm, and bring them again in a double-hour.â
After he sent them all away, Master Shen leaned on the door as he said in a low voice, âXuanâer, let dad come in and take a look.â
Immediately, sounds of frantic commotion came from behind the doors. Master Shen waited without a worry, and sure enough, his youngest son was no match for his eldest son. Shen Qingxuan pushed his wheelchair over and opened the door.

After he came inside and looked around, Master Shen headed towards the screen
, still using a benevolent voice, âCome out and let dad have a look.â
There was absolute silence from behind the screen.
âDo not be like a girl, come out and let dad see.â Master Shen continued to coax him.
Shen Zhen refused to come out.
Shen Qingxuan closed the door once again, wheeled over, and pushed down the screen. Shen Zhen did not expect his brother to do this, and had no chance to hide. On instinct, he held up the screen that almost fell and ducked out of the way.
In this split second, Master Shen had already seen the scene he wanted to see. He let out a âpft,â then immediately held it in again until his beard was shaking.
Shen Qingxuan also lowered his face while his shoulders could not stop quaking. Clearly, he was holding back quite desperately.
Shen Zhen stood there with his whole face covered in tortoises that either crawled or stood or rolled, not even his ears were spared. Each of his earlobes had their own tiny tortoise that stretched out their necks and kicked their legs.
Master Shen held his stomach as he pointed at Shen Qingxuan with a shaking finger and said breathlessly, âY-youâŚâŚyour elder brother, is truly, i-im-imâŚâŚproper.â
Shen Qingxuan raised his head immediately, and with his bright, black eyes, he stared unblinking at his diedie.
Father and son looked at each other for a minute, and then suddenly turned away from each other without warning. One of them gaped his mouth as he roared with laughter silently while the other man laughed until he nearly lost his breath.
At first, Shen Zhen was indignant and yelled at the two of them to stop laughing. Then he saw that neither of them could stop. They were bent down and clutching their chest as they laughed until they could not breathe, which frightened him into ignoring his own mortification. He quickly ran over to pat their backs with one hand each, and helped them catch their breath. He was deeply afraid that these two would laugh until they were sick.
But he did not realize that his elder brother and father, as soon as they turned their heads and saw that painted face with anxiety written all over it, were unable to stop even if they wanted to stop.
Furthermore, Shen Qingxuan almost laughed out loud several times, and could only bite his tongue as he swallowed down the sound that had risen to his larynx yet again.
His joy was also a joy of extreme difficulty.

Deep in the heart of the high school, a class of bored and inattentive seniors doodle in their notebooks and up the exposed skin on their arms; others text, their phones âhiddenâ beneaths their desks. Kacey Brooks was in the middle of it all. Everyone knew her, whether that was a good thing or a bad thing. It was the advent of spring, encroaching on summer, and on an island, that means it is hot. But, there Kacey sat, in baggy denim jeans, cuffed above her ankle so the hems didnât drag along the floor. Her hands were tucked underneath her denim-clad thighs as she leaned over the desk, tracing the looping font that said âRomeo and Julietâ on the cover of the book on her desk with her eyes. God, she hated that book. They read it in Sophomore year, and she didnât understand why they had to read the stupid play again.
The English teacher, Mr. Martin stood from his swivel chair, picking up his own copy of Romeo and Juliet just to drop it down on the podium, catching the drifting seniorsâ attention. âOkay, slackers. What did you think of the play?â
A girl in the back of the classroom, another clean cut Kook with pink lip gloss and tight crop tops raised her hand. With a smile, she rushed into her opinion, not bothering to get permission to speak. It was a well known fact that in the Outer Banks it was easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. âIt was so romantic. I loved it.â
Kaceyâs brows stitched together, not mulling over her personal rebuttal for more than a moment before looking over her shoulder at the girl. Her eyes were glossy, lost in her romanization of the play. Ever since the second semester of her freshman year when she just snapped, she had been braving each day, treating it as a singular battle in the war against high school ignorance. âRomeo and Juliet was not romantic. It was two people having a teenage rebellion and wallowing in their own angst. They simply wanted an escape from their family lives. And Shakespeare? He was a racist, anti-semetic misogynist who is praised when he couldnât decide on one way to spell his own name.â
The entirety of the class rolled their eyes, including Mr. Martin. It hadnât been the first time Kacey had spoken out on her take on the social issues that came with the authors of novels and how they correlate to modern day society. Kelce, a Kook Prince of the highest degree and sitting to the left of Kacey, pokes at the metaphorical bear. âAs opposed to a friendless, holier-than-thou wench?â
The girls pining after Kelce for his looks or trust fund giggled, despite his dig into the girl next him not being all that funny. Mr. Martin slapped the wooden podium with his Folger Shakespeare Library copy of Romeo and Juliet. âPipe down, Slick.â
Kacey pulled the hem of her army green crop top to cover the slight bit of tanned skin exposed before quipping, âI guess having a dick and being a dick makes you entitled to our time.â The brunette pushed the hair falling over her forehead out of the way before waving her copy of the play in the air. âWhat about Sylva Plath or, I donât know, Emily Bronte for all I care.â
Before Mr. Martin could respond with his own activistic rebuttal, Rafe Cameron walks into class, holding up a copy of the first Harry Potter book and raising his eyebrows, silently questioning whether that was the right book. He knew it wasnât. âWhatâd I miss?â
A Pogue who was a known theatre nerd started humming the tune to the song from Hamilton titled Whatâd I Miss while Kacey all but spun in her seat. âJust the patriarchal values that run this lovely institution and corrupt the minds of dimwitted Kelceâs everywhere.â
Rafe nodded along to Kaceyâs statement and through to her next breath, not having stopped in between words to breathe. âGood.â After his simple response, he immediately turned on his heel and walked back down the hall, rather enduring more uncomfortable conversations with the Dean than English class.
Kacey and Rafe had no ill will towards each other, only being able to base an opinion off the presumed stereotypes of each other that get passed around the school. Kacey and Rafe had known each other for a long time. When they were six, Kaceyâs father was Rose Cameronâs obstetrician, seeing as heâs the best on the Outer Banks and the Camerons are the richest on the Outer Banks. Thatâs where they met: outside his stepmotherâs hospital room, playing chopsticks with their fingers while they sat cross-legged on the tile floor, drinking apple juice from juice boxes. Thatâs where their friendship ended. They hadnât really spoken since, only having that snapshot into reality before the doors were closed. Kacey was popular, had many more friends than Rafe did, and boys trailed her. When freshman year rolled around, he kept his distance because he knew he would walk away with a sharp pain in his groin. That was just how she carried herself, and he carried himself differently.
Mr. Martin attempted to call after Rafe, only to hear the cicadas buzzing outside.
âMr. Martin, do you think we could get Kacey to take her Midol before class?â Kelce asks, his signature smirk gracing his face as he continued his quest to make Kaceyâs life a living Hell. Snickers erupted from the class, causing Kelceâs smugness to go to his head, lifting himself onto his selfmade pedestal.
âOne day, youâre gonna get bitch-slapped right across that brazen face of yours, and Iâm not gonna do anything to stop it. Kacey, thank you for your input.â As Mr. Martin took a brief pause, Kacey smiled to herself, please that her social activism finally was justified by authority. He continued, âI canât imagine how hard it must be for you to overcome upper-class, Kook oppression. It mustâve been awful.â Her chest puffed out with pride deflated at his words. She knew he was right. âBut the next time you storm the school board campaigning for more recycling bins or whatever you white girls complain about, ask them why they canât buy a book written by a Black man!â
âUnderstood. Anything else?â Kacey asked, looking straight past Mr. Martin and out the window overlooking the quad behind him.
âYeah, go to the office, youâre pissing me off.â Her neck whipped to look at her English teacher at his words, opening her mouth to argue, but he shot her a stern look and pointed towards the door. In Kaceyâs rageful frenzy, she decked Kelce in the face with her bag as she stormed out of the classroom towards the office.
The Dean sat in her office, her rouge painted nails clicking against the keys on her keyboard as the sleazy thoughts in her head transferred onto the Word document housing her novel. She whispered to herself as her fingertips ghosted the letter labeled keys on her laptop. She snapped her head up, calling out to the secretary, asking for her to look up another word for âengorgedâ despite being able to pull up the thesaurus on her computer.
âTumescent?â Kacey suggested as she walked into the small, pink office.
The Dean snapped her fingers, pointing at Kacey as she morphed her hand into a finger gun. âPerfect!â Kacey swung her bag off her shoulder and onto the ground next to the chair in which she seated herself. âI hear youâre terrorizing English class again.â
âLast time I checked, it wasnât just English class, and expressing my opinions is not a terrorist action.â The eighteen-year-old raised her eyebrows indignantly, her head nodding slightly in authoritativeness.
The Dean smiled sarcastically at Kacey, âThe way you expressed your opinion to Topper Thornton? His testical retrieval operation went quite well, if youâre interested.â
âI maintain he swung his own golf club up his legs like a field goal.â Kacey crossed her arms over her chest. She settled into her chair. Her conversations with the crude woman in front of her always went the same way; Mr. Martin threw her out of class for existing, and her previous deeds suddenly have updates that the Dean thinks Kacey should know about.
âThe point Iâm trying to make is that people think youâre a heinous bitch and you should work on it.â Her eyes flickered to her still open laptop and back up to the eighteen-year-old. âWhat do you think about blood sex?â
âOkay, yeah, this has been lovely, however,â grabbing her backpack, she swung it over her shoulder as she rose from the uncomfortable chair. âI think Iâll let you get back to Chris chokeslamming Jackie into a wall.â
As Kacey left the office to walk the halls of Kildare County High School, the Dean seemed to take her words into serious consideration, whispering Kaceyâs final sentiment under her breath as she typed the word âchokeslam.â

Kelce leant against the stone wall that surrounded the courtyard and only rose to about waist-high of even the shortest of students. His best friend and fellow poster child for the effects of affluenza, Topper Thornton ( who is very acquainted with Kacey Brooks and her golf club swing ), stood next to him, the two of them surveying the inhabitants of the grassy lawn in the back of the school. Topper noticed Gracie walking through the gap in the stone wall, her Spanish textbook pressed to her chest as she nodded along to what Arianna said next to her. The familiar breeze carrying the scent of the ocean and the feeling of home blew the short strands of Gracieâs hair that framed her face in almost an angelic way, and her sundress that fell to her mid-thigh swayed as she walked. Gracie and Arianna were picturesque, almost like they actively strived to be compared to Cher and Dionne from Clueless.
With a carnal smirk, Topper elbowed Kelce, muttering âVirgin alertâ as the sophomore passed the two guys, smiling and waving at Kelce as they went.
âLookinâ good, ladies.â As if Kelceâs remark was a que, Gracie and Arianna pushed forward, leaving the hormonal teenager guys watching them like they were prey for them to catch.
âNo way, Bro. Theyâre outta your league.â
âNo oneâs out of my league.â Kelceâs eyes didnât leave Gracie as she distanced herself from them.
Topper pulled fifty dollars out of his pocket, âWanna bet?â
âNah, Iâve got money. Thisâll be for fun.â Kelce pushed Topperâs hand that was holding onto the bill away and dapped up his empty hand, sealing the deal. Kelce was about to embark on one of the most clichĂŠ, tropical bets of his high school experience.
âJust look at her, man.â JJ watched Gracie and Arianna pass him, John B, and Pope. He followed her with love struck eyes and wistful pining.
Pope tilted his head, the cap that sat on his head almost falling off his head as he tried to understand his friendâs mindset. âSheâs just soâŚâ
âPerfect?â JJ offered.
John B and Pope shared a glance, rolling their eyes at JJâs suggestion. âI was going to say ditzy.â John B replied.
âHow can you say that?â JJ turned to glance at his friends who were totally unimpressed by the girl that captured almost all the guyâs hearts at the high school. âSheâs totallyâŚâ
âNarcissistic?â Pope said, getting a nod from John B in agreement.
âThatâs her sister, câmon, guys.â JJ waved his hand in the air for emphasis. There was no way Gracie was like Kacey. They were too polar. âThereâs more to her than you think. See her smile? Sheâs totally pure.â
âYeah, pure money. Sheâs a Kook, dude.â John B ran a hand through his overgrown brunet locks. âWhatâs there is a snotty princess wearing a dress that was purposefully planned to make Pogues like you realize you canât have her and Kooks like Kelce and Topper want her.â
âBesides, JJ, you know the rule. Itâs not like she could date you even if she wanted to.â Pope added on, readjusting his baseball cap to fit snugly on his head.
âPut her in the Spank Bank and move on, Bro.â John B and Pope started walking in the opposite direction, lunch was about to start.
JJ jogged to catch up, shaking his head in denial. âNah.â
âMove on, man. Jizz Wizz and then dip.â Pope reiterated John Bâs sentiment as JJ held his arm out, stopping them in their tracks in front of the bulletin board to the right of the door into school.
âShe needs a Spanish tutor,â He ripped the paper advertisement off the cork board.
âYou canât even speak Spanish.â
âWhat do you mean?â JJ looked at John B as he traced Gracieâs phone number printed on the paper.
âBroken Spanish and fantasizing about lobsters from Yucatan doesnât mean you know Spanish.â Pope pulled the paper out of JJâs hand, ready to tack it back to the board before JJ took it again.
âOkay, so I donât know Spanish, but I will.â

okay frens and ferns! so hereâs whatâs coming up next (and iâll update this along the way when i remember it exists).Â
((everything is listed in no particular order tbh. itâs just how i remembered them for the list))
1. Physical Therapy (fluff) - Series!
After getting shot, Spencerâs finally able to start physical therapy so he can get back to work. What happens when he starts to fall for his physical therapist? ((This will be a series as I go through physical therapy myself))
2. Gideon (angst) Gideon visits Reid for a day to see he is doing alright with his family and a career thatâs filling out nicely.Â
3. Contageous (fluff) The reader is sick for a few days and Spencer takes care of her, even though it means he gets sick and there are lots of cuddles that ensue.Â
4. Hot coco part 2 (angsty fluff) Spencer takes some much needed time off to spend with his wife and two daughters and ends up bargaining with you.Â
5. Prom misses part 2 (angsty fluff) Flashback to Spencer and reader at the Heartbreaker dance and that fateful night when the reader got her heart broken.Â
6. Continued Revelations (angst)
Based on the 2x15 episode Revelations: Tobias has a you ger sister who tries to help Reid escape captivity only to be held hostage along with Reid. Finally escaping, Spencer and the reader grow closer and work through their own demons.
7. Underneath the Mask (angsty fluff)
Reader is a ball of sunshine and the last person youâd expect to be a badass profiler but then goes in the field and kicks serious ass and spencer has feelings about it.
8. EDS (fluff)
Spencerâs girlfriend is chronically ill with Ehlers-Dalos Syndrome, which causes her to be tired, forgetful, lots of medication, and is restricted on what food she eats. Spencer cares for her while off from work.
9. Not your fault (angst)
Reader finds out maybe she can't have children, after her and Spencer have tried for a while, but it's always resulted in a miscarriage or negative test. They go to the doctor's and find out she has a tumour in her brain which means she can't have children, and they can't bring themselves to adopt. Spencer doesn't take it well, and neither does reader. The tumour cause is due to when reader got shot by an un-sub and she fell to the ground causing a bleed.
10. Secret Santa (fluff)
You get Spencer as your secret santa gift and you pick out the perfect gift for him. What happens when things go off the wall and thereâs no timeÂ
11. Broken Glasses pt. 2 (fluff)Â
Reader broke their glasses in an altercation with the unsub and their contact solution is bad so thatâs out of the window too. Spencer has taken it upon himself to be the readerâs personal guide around the case.Â

Finding Home Gavin Reed x Reader
Chapter 23
Masterlist
It took Gavin and me a total of 30 minutes to get dressed and head to the hospital my dad was at. I tried calling Connor in the car, but he didnât answer, which caused me to worry even more.
Gavin was driving and he had one hand firmly on my leg that kept bouncing up and down. How did this happen? I kept asking myself as I stared out the window. I thought he was taking care of himself more. Why did this have to happen now? Right when things were getting better between us. Gavin pulled up to the hospital and stopped the car at the emergency room front doors. Â
âGo find Connor. Iâll park and catch up.â I nodded and jumped out of the car, practically running into the hospital. I followed the signs for the surgery waiting room. I looked through the door window and saw Connor sitting in a chair with his eyes forward. When I pushed the door open he quickly looked over and got up. I ran to him and hugged him tightly, trying not to cry. He held me equally as tight. Â
âWhat happened?â My voice was raspy, while my mind was racing the rest of my body was still trying to wake up.
âHe got up in the middle of the night for a glass of water and I heard the glass drop from my room. I called the ambulance right away. Theyâre performing an atherectomy right now.â He pulled out of the hug and I reluctantly let go of him.
âHaveâŚâ I paused trying to stop myself from crying. âHave the doctors given you any updates?â I heard the door open again and in a second Gavinâs arms were around me. I grabbed his hands and held them tightly, welcoming the warmth and comfort. I noticed my hands were shaking, so I gripped his hands tighter in an attempt to steady them. Â
âNo, nothing yet. I have only been here for an hour. The surgery takes about two and recovery is about three hours, but thatâs according to averages. I donât know if it will be shorter or longer.â I nodded. âI didnât mean to make you rush here. Humans need sleep, (Y/n). You can go home and I can call you the moment I get any update.â Connor said softly, I quickly shook my head.
âNo, Iâm staying here with you.â He started to argue. âConnor, Iâm not budging on this.â I untangled myself from Gavin and turned to look at him. I gently took my hands and cupped his cheeks, running my thumbs across his stubble. âGavin, you have work in a couple of hours, you should go home and get some rest.â
âIâm staying with you for as long as I can. Iâve run on less sleep before.â He put his hands over mine and gently pulled them down. He squeezed my hands and I nodded, grateful he was willing to stay. Connor sat back down and I sat next to him. I grabbed both of their hands and held them.
I woke up still in the waiting room. I must have fallen asleep at some point. Groaning, I sat up and wiped my mouth. I looked over at Connor.
âOh my god, Connor. Iâm so sorry I drooled on you. You shouldâve woken me up.â I looked over to my left where Gavin had been.
âHe had to get to the precinct. We both decided it would be best not to wake you.â I nodded and yawned. âThere have been no updates, but I expect we will hear something soon.â I laid my head back on Connorâs shoulder.
âAre you scared?â I asked softly.
âThe surgery has a high survival rate and the ambulance got to the house in under five minutes. Despite those reassuring facts, I still find myself worried.â Connor whispered. I noticed his LED for the first time since arriving. It was red.
âHeâs strong, survived a lot. This wonât be any different.â I tried to reassure him, but I knew he could tell I was equally worried.
Another half-hour passed before a doctor finally came to talk to us. Both us stood up and met him halfway. I had my arm wrapped around Connorâs to keep myself from shaking too much.
âMaâam, are you a part of the Anderson family?â
âYes, weâre both his kids,â I answered quickly, the doctor gave Connorâs LED a quick glance, but decided not to say anything.
âHe got here just in time. The surgery took longer than expected, but there were no major complications. Heâs in recovery now.â
âCan we see him?â I asked.
âHeâs resting right now. Heâll be in recovery for a couple of hours and then heâll be moved to an inpatient room. I can have one of the nurses come to get you when heâs been moved.â
âThank you, doctor,â Connor said. He gave us a tightlipped smile and walked away. We both sat back down. I felt exhausted but relieved. âMaybe you should go home and get some rest.â I shook my head and pulled out my phone.
âNo, Iâm not leaving.â I went to my email and sent my students an email.
Hi everyone,
Due to a family emergency, we will not be meeting in person on Tuesday. Instead, I am going to post a movie, and then on Thursday, we will discuss how the themes of the movie apply to what we are learning. Donât worry, the filmâs target audience was kids so we should have no problem discussing it. If youâd like to get ahead the film is âThe Iron Giant.â

Okay, stay safe
I took a deep breath and looked at Connor, his LED was still red.
âHave you told Fowler?â Connor remained to look forward.
âYes, I alerted him last night. He put us both on leave so I can stay with Hank while he recovers. Nines has also offered to help cover our cases.â I nodded.
âI'll be there for him too, you donât have to do this alone. My class is only two days a week and I can do my research from home.â
âI appreciate that, (Y/n).â Connor gently reached over and held my hand, I gave him a small smile and squeezed his hand, hoping to show him that heâs truly not alone in this.
We both sat in silence waiting for the nurse to come get us. After what felt like 10 hours she finally came over and led us to his room.
It was weird seeing dad in a hospital bed. It reminded me of my mom. When she was sick I got so desensitized to hospitals. We were in and out so often that it almost became a second home, a lot of the nurses even knew my name and kept up with my life. However, being here now makes it feel like the first time all over again. I hadnât realized I had still been holding Connorâs hand until he gave me a light squeeze. Dad looked to be waking up.
âHey Dad,â I said softly, letting go of Connorâs hand to sit in one of the chairs near him. I reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze.
âHey kids,â Dad said hoarsely. âSorry for scaring you two.â I shook my head back and forth quickly, afraid if I tried talking I would start crying again. I looked up at Connor who took the seat across from me.
âWeâre just glad youâre okay, Hank,â Connor said softly.
âConnor, I think weâre pass you calling me Hank.â
âWeâre just glad youâre okay...dad.â The three of us smiled and my dad gave a light chuckle.
Iâve been staying at the house for about two weeks now. I had only seen Gavin briefly on Tuesdays and Thursdays when he would stop by my office on his lunch break to check in on me. I can tell that everyone around me was walking on eggshells, but I couldnât bring myself to care. I felt as if I was coasting and I couldnât seem to break out. Gavin was being extremely understanding of this whole situation. Heâd even sent flowers to my office and some flowers to my dad. He also sent a bottle of whiskey that Connor immediately confiscated.
Connor ended up giving up his âroomâ so I could sleep there while I was helping him with dad. I tried to talk him out of it, but all he really used it for was to store clothes since he didnât need sleep. He didnât mind going into stasis on the couch. Connor seemed grateful that I stayed around to relieve some of the burden, besides it was nice being able to spend time with just Connor. I also think dad appreciated me being here to stop Connor from going crazy about his health and what he was eating. I did agree to an extent, but blanched chicken breast with no seasoning, not even a little bit of salt, is crazy. Â
Connor and I were sitting on the couch watching some forensics show, that Connor enjoyed picking apart, while dad was resting in the other room. He seemed to be doing a lot better, but I couldnât bring myself to go back to my apartment except to get clean clothes.

I bit my lip and looked up at Connor. His brows were furrowed as he rolled his eyes at something the âdetectiveâ said on tv. I kicked him softly with my foot to get his attention.
âDo you want me to leave?â I asked tentatively. Connor gave me a gentle look and a small smile. He turned towards me and folded his hands in his lap.
âI think a break is healthy, (Y/n). You only leave the house to go to your class and office hours. I can handle things here. Plus Iâm sure you miss Gavin and he misses you.â He said softly. I groaned.
âI donât like you and Gavin planning things behind my back.â He smiled.
âItâs for your own good. Just go out for one night and come back tomorrow, even if you two decide to just hang out at Gavinâs home. You need to take a break.â
âJust one night,â I whispered looking at my phone.
Pick me up in 30 minutes?
got it pipsqueak. nines is coming over too, something about not wanting to stay at the precinct all night again. is that ok?

Some part of me did agree with Connor and Gavin. I was antsy in the house, but I was still worried about not being there when Iâm needed. What if something else happened to dad while I was gone? What if Connor needed help and I wasnât able to get back in time?
âYouâre biting your thumb, (Y/n).â Connorâs voice broke through my thoughts and I moved my hand away from my mouth. Connor had begun calling me out whenever I was becoming overly anxious, which was both sweet and annoying.
âSorry, nerves.â I gave him a wobbly smile.
âHe will be fine. I know youâre worried, but I promise I will contact you the moment I fear something may be wrong. Heâs been doing really well, it wonât be long until heâs cleared to return to work for desk duty.â Connor put his hand on my shoulder and I nodded.
âI know youâre right. Itâs just hard sometimes to turn off that part of my brain.â I gave a nervous chuckle and he nodded his head.
âYou should pack a bag, Iâm assuming Gavin will be here soon?â I laughed.
âWow, you sure are in a rush to get rid of me!â Connor rolled his eyes and shook his head. I stood up and stretched.
âSelf-care is important, (Y/n).â I waved him off as I headed towards Connorâs room. Grabbing my backpack I filled it with some clothes, a laptop, and my phone charger. I sat down on the bed and fiddled with my bag. The room was just as bare as last time. Once dad was better I wanted to take Connor shopping so he could make the room more his. It would be interesting to see what he would pick out.
Snapping out of my thoughts I put on my backpack and walked back to where Connor was watching tv. I knelt down and started petting Sumo. He was lazing on top of Connorâs feet. I looked up at Connor, he was still entranced by the tv.
âHey, Con?â I heard him hum. âOnce things calm down do you want to go shopping for some decorations for your room? To make it more...you.â He glanced down at me with a small smile.
âI think that could be fun.â I smiled back at him. Things between us felt so natural as a brother and sister duo. Sometimes it felt like we grew up together, I guess for Connorâs case that wasnât too far apart since heâs only been around for about a year.
âWhat kind of things do you like? Like what would you want in your room?â His brows furrowed for a moment, but it quickly turned into a smile.
âI would like a lava lamp.â I laughed abruptly, causing Sumo to jump a bit.
âA lava lamp? Connor why?â I said in between laughs, where had he even seen a lava lamp? His face flushed a light blue.
âThey look cool. One of the characters in this show has one.â He responded sheepishly. I shook my head and let out another laugh.
âYou are the biggest dork Iâve ever met.â
âYouâre the one showing her students old movies because she thinks theyâre underappreciated.â He teased back.
âWow, look at you! Youâre learning how not to be so uptight all the time.â He frowned.
âIâm better than Nines!â Connor crossed his arms across his chest and huffed in defiance.
âWell, you have had more time as a deviant than him. Iâm sure heâll pass you at some point.â Before Connor could respond my phone went off. âAh, Gavinâs here. Are you sure youâll be okay for the night? Itâs not too late for me to cancel.â Connorâs expressions soften.
âEverything will be fine. I promiseâ I nodded and got up.
âIâll see you tomorrow, text me updates?â I nervously fidgeted with the front door handle.
âOf course, (Y/n).â He gave me a reassuring smile. I took a deep breath and walked to Gavinâs car. Nines was already moving to the backseat, I briefly wondered if he had decided to do that on his own or if Gavin had asked him. Gavin smiled and waved at me. It really had been a while since weâve relaxed together. I smiled back and got into the car.
âHey, pipsqueak.â Gavin greeted me, leaning over to give me a kiss on the check.
âHi Gavin, hi Nines.â
âHello (Y/n). Thank you for letting me spend some time with you two. I appreciate the break from the precinct.â I nodded, as Gavin started driving.
âDo you always stay at the precinct?â I asked, turning around to look at him. He was sitting up straight with his hands in his lap. As always he looked overly formal.
âYes, there has been an android apartment complex go up and I have been thinking about getting an apartment there, but as of right now I am perfectly content at the precinct.â
âExcept tonight.â I teased, for a brief second his LED flashed yellow and then back to a calm blue.
âIf Iâm honest I also wanted to check up on you and make sure youâve been taking care of yourself.â I groaned and closed my eyes.
âGreat now I have two overbearing androids worrying about me.â Gavin let out a small chuckle.
âWould you really want it any other way?â Gavin asked. I could hear the smirk in his voice.
âNo, I wouldnât,â I responded softly.

Stoki Whumptober Day 15: Into The Unknown [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
When he was removed from the cell the next day-- or let out, depending on how you looked at it, he had managed to get himself back to a state of being reasonably well put together.Â
âSo I uh-- heard you didnât sleep so great. Sorry about that. I had forgotten that Jarvis has problems when I ask him to monitor Thorâs vitals, too.âÂ
Loki flapped his hand dismissively at Starkâs apology; he didnât feel like going into the fact that his baseline would be wildly different from even Thorâs. It didnât matter much.Â
âHow is the Captain?â He asked instead.Â
Stark hummed.Â
âSeems fine now-- that was a pretty wild treatment, though, so I think itâd be good to keep an eye on him.âÂ
He held the door open to allow Loki to board the elevator.Â
âWe got breakfast delivered, so I imagine heâll be there-- and Barnes, too.â Stark looked wary, and Loki wondered what part of the gathering caused that.Â
He found it odd that Stark seemed suddenly at ease around him, but perhaps his performance with Rogers the night before, and his relative lack of ill-will after being nearly roasted by his machine had given him some sense of confidence in Lokiâs intentions.Â
Bold of him to assume that Lokiâs goodwill extended to him. But then again, all of his windows were thus far intact, so perhaps there was some small basis for it. It wasnât a high bar to clear.Â
âYou seem⌠somewhat less than enthused about breakfast.â Loki offered it as an observation, but it was a question, ever so delicate, probing gently to learn more about these people heâd fought so often. Heâd certainly never been allowed this close before, into their home. Or, home-base, at least. He knew Rogers had a place of his own, outside of the tower.Â
Stark lifted one shoulder listlessly. But before he had a chance to elaborate, the elevator announced their arrival with a cheerful ping and the doors slid open onto a scene of surprising domesticity.Â
The Avengers were gathered around the table, shy only Stark and alongside Barnes and a woman that Loki only knew peripherally as Pepper Potts, Starkâs good half.Â
âSo, now weâre all here-- good morning everyone--â Stark began, but was interrupted by Barnes snorting.
âItâs after noon.â Banner pointed out, clearly amused, and Loki blinked. He must have slept longer than heâd thought, to compensate for the heat and his efforts the day prior.Â
âWell, yeah, okay. After noon. Happy brunch. Point is-- Loki. Steve. James Barnes-- what are we calling you these days? Bucky?âÂ
Starkâs edgy energy was back, and Loki realized it was centered around the Soldier. Fascinating, that Stark was literally more at ease with Loki at his back than with Barnes at his table.Â
âJames is probably fine.â He said mildly, buttering some toast and casually avoiding eye contact.Â
Rogers, too, seemed unsurprised but on guard.Â
Interesting. And charming. A crack in their united front, and Loki wasnât even the cause. He ought to be offended, he supposed. Instead, he was merely amused.Â
âRight. So. James⌠after you stopped in on Loki last night, did you notice anything⌠weird?âÂ
Rogers looked thoroughly confused-- Loki wondered at that. Had Barnes not told him about his stepping in? Loki would think he would-- to curry favor, prove himself as a good person, if nothing else.Â
Barnes sat his toast down, only a single bite taken from it.Â
âDefine weird.â He said slowly, almost like the words were a threat.Â
âYour arm.â Stark said, clearly trying not to sound eager and coming off as smug instead. âI got your message after you were asleep, and asked Jarvis to run a scan, make sure Loki didnât do anything to you.âÂ
Loki felt his mouth falling open to protest, and, without looking, Stark held up his hand to stop him speaking.Â
âYour arm has some weird stuff going on with it, but it doesnât match Lokiâs power signature. And last night, it started flaring up. So, did you notice anything weird?â
âYouâre asking if I noticed anything weird with my arm while I was asleep?â Barnes reiterated, speaking slowly, as if he was becoming more and more convinced that Stark was an idiot. âNo. Because I was asleep.â
âHang on, why were you scanning him in his sleep?â Rogers demanded. âAnd why would you visit Loki?âÂ
âTo have a chat, Steve, why else do people go see one another?â Barnes snapped back. âAnyway, it didnât matter, because when I got there, Starkâs robot was in the process of frying the guyâs brain, soâŚâ Barnes trailed off with a sharp glance in Starkâs direction.Â
Rogers whipped his head around, glaring at Stark who raised his hands defensively. âLoki?â He asked firmly, turning his eyes on him next. âAre you alright?â
âI should be asking the same of you, though your voice is much improved. In fairness, Starkâs machine was concerned because my vital readings did not match that of humans. No harm was intended.â Loki spoke mildly and strode forward to take a seat directly across from Barnes. âBut tell me more about this âweirdnessâ. Do you suppose itâs related to the time stone?âÂ
He helped himself to some bread and jam, and began to paint the latter across the former, performatively, of course-- a show of unconcern.Â
When he glanced up, though, it was his turn to receive the full weight of Barnesâ glare.Â
âTime stone?â The widow asked sharply.
âOh. Iâm sorry-- did they not know?â Loki asked, pretending at surprise.
âIs there a magical artifact in my house, and you didnât tell me?â Stark demanded.Â
Banner stood.Â
âIâm sorry, Iâm gonna excuse myself. Ah-- Pepper, can you update me or give me a call if Iâm needed?âÂ
âOf course.â She said smoothly, watching him go then turning her eyes back to Rogers and Barnes, who looked both cornered and uncomfortable.Â
Loki took a bite of his toast.Â
âLook, as much as Iâm not excited about having the time stone here, I think weâre burying the lede. What weird stuff did Jarvis pick up, Tony?â the Hawk spoke up, having held his peace and just made faces for a bit, but, as ever, keeping his eye on the big picture. Loki shot him an appreciative glance.
âLike I said, it started flaring up-- and with the time stone present-- I assume you have it stored in the arm?â Stark asked pointedly, his gaze dropping to Barnesâ shirt sleeve covered prosthetic.Â
He pushed the sleeve up and opened a compartment, revealing the time stone, glowing a soft green.Â
To Lokiâs eyes, it was pulsing, however faintly, but that wasnât the real concern.Â
âItâs corrupting the metal. Or-- the metal is absorbing it?â He murmured, surprised and enthralled. âIâve never seen something like that happen before.â
âWhat do you mean?â Steve asked, at the same time as Barnes snapped âItâs what?âÂ
âJarvis?â The Widow asked, standing to come closer.Â
âThe stone is emitting a low level of power. I can confirm that the metal of Sergaent Barnesâs arm is absorbing it. It is, however, also releasing it back and amplifying the power in the stoneâs direction at a .20 percent increase from the original radiation.â
Loki nodded.
âThe pulsing-- the arm is absorbing the power, storing it, and then releasing it back stronger. This, in turn, overflows the limits of the stone-- causing it to release more.âÂ
Barnes immediately plucked the stone from the compartment with his flesh hand.Â
âThatâs all well and good,â Loki said, âbut that leaves us with one problem: weâll need to draw the power out of your arm.âÂ
Rogers looked to him. âCan you do that?âÂ
âI can.â Loki said. âI cannot guarantee there will not be lingering effects, but the excess we can draw out. Only, I will need to do something with it.â
Loki turned to look at Stark.Â
âAre you capable of building some sort of containment for it?â
âI donât even know what âitâ is, thatâs a power source unlike any weâve seen before.âÂ
âAnd the longer it stays within the cavity of Barnesâs arm, the more it grows.â Loki said calmly, then sighed.Â
âI can⌠try to ground it, or disperse it, but until I try, until I have it in my hands, I will have little idea as to the best way. Is there a safe place that Barnes and I may go to try and mitigate any damage we may cause?âÂ
Loki saw Barnes narrow his eyes, and it did not escape him the way his flesh fist clenched all the tighter around the stone.Â
âI have the space upstate-- pretty isolated, big plot of land. That should be safest. Iâm going with you, of course-- I gotta see this. And I doubt Steveâs gonna want to stay behind.âÂ
âNope.â Rogers responded quickly.Â
âWeâll hold down the fort here.â The widow responded, clearly not needing to ask the hawk how he felt about such exercises. Loki nodded in acknowledgement.Â
âTo upstate, then.â

The upstate facility seemed to be somewhat more like a hangar than a tower, which Loki was grateful for. Less to fall on them, should something go wrong. And Stark insisted it was well built, launching into specifications and logistics than Loki had no interest in and didnât understand.Â
Instead, upon arrival, heâd begun arranging a table with chairs for himself and Barnes-- opposite sides, to keep the surface between them. For Barnesâ peace of mind, more than anything else.Â
Loki settled down and gestured at the table.
âIf youâre ready.â He said.Â
Barnes took his seat, and lay the limb out. Loki had been, admittedly, curious about it, and was finally being allowed his first close up examination of the thing.Â
âThe workmanship is beautiful. Utilitarian, yes, but intricate and graceful all the same.â Loki ran his fingers gently up the edges where he knew the hollow was, able to feel the energy humming beneath his fingertips.Â
âI donât need a narration.â Barnes said, sounding uncomfortable and cross, which Loki decided likely translated to scared and trying to hide it.Â
âOf course.â He answered smoothly.Â
The panel folded back and away, and he dipped his fingertips into the glowing green pool that had formed in the absence of the time stone.Â
âAh.â He said, brow furrowing as he tried to make sense of what it was.Â
It was cold and hummed, the sensation not unlike being buffeted by a river. But it climbed his arm, and he felt it pulling at him, trying to toss him to or fro, back into the past and forward into the future simultaneously.Â
He put out a few tendrils of his own power, anchoring himself to the here and now, and urged the energy of the stone up over his fingers, across the back of his hand, and then, as he rolled his wrist, into his palm to pool.Â
Once he held it and was certain it would not leap forth nor spill through the cracks, he flicked his eyes back to Barnes.Â
There was no further trace of it there, though the metal sang with the empty echoes of a newly hollow vessel.Â
âI think you must take care to keep it separate from that metal, going forward. It is⌠It reacts oddly.âÂ
Indeed, it was vibrating with a movement he was not used to feeling from time related magics. It had become agitated with its constant duplication, and it wanted now to burst free.Â
He frowned.Â
He could not put it to ground in such a state; it would merely spread itself out, affecting all it touched.Â
He could attempt to contain it with his own magics, however, and with any luck they might be able to lock that away in more conventional metals, for study or future use.Â
This course of action decided upon, Loki called his magics up and through him, pulling from the soles of his feet, though the core of him and down his arm to wrap around the power in his palm.Â
But in doing so, he made one critical error.Â
Before the power was contained, Loki became unmoored. And the power was interested only in spreading, now. He felt as it latched on to his power and tried to pull back, but it was no good, and too late.Â
The power of the stone slid within him, and he felt as time within him lurched, shifted, and changed.
