Friends, Romans, countrymen, potential saviors:
We took one of our community cats to the vet yesterday to get his balls taken off and to see about a wound on his head
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And long story short, Johnny Purrdreau is the sweetest, most delightful, utterly darling boy. He hasn’t stopped purring all day today and just wants loves and pets and food and more pets and snuggles. We cannot keep him! We have three cats and he’s FIV+ (but otherwise has totally clean bloodwork) so my mom is dead set against him staying with us.
Tumblr media
I cannot emphasize enough how loving this cat is. He’s around a year old and has had a hard go of it - he’s been a scrapper and has shown up at our place limping, bleeding, and crying - and yesterday we were finally able to get him to the vet and get him taken care of. But now he’s going to have to go back outside and it’s breaking my heart.
Tumblr media
Johnny is currently living near Sacramento, but I will drive him anywhere within a six hour distance if someone wants to adopt him. He’s freshly neutered, vaccinated for rabies, on flea treatment, was dewormed, given antibiotics for the (rapidly healing) owies on his head and paw. Twenty four hours inside has shown us that he knows how to use a litter box (he currently has liquid poop, but that’s something that can be addressed) and hasn’t shown any indications of spraying.
If you or anyone you know might want to save a life please hit me up. Just look at this face!!!

Not proof read at all

Tumblr media
you knew of it's existence.
or, at least, herd rumors.
how horrifying it is to run into. how you won't end up dead, but wish you would be. the incense, searing pain of shattered kneecaps, bruising skull, and white hot throbbing in your muscles never settling down, not even as the Gotham police department drag you off.
it's a good thing this shadow works against the criminals and not for, or Gotham would be a dead zone. not even goons would be able to survive that Gotham, only left for those who syphon energy from the shadows and perpetual overcast.
but that shadow figure, the one that lurks over roof tops? they're a good thing for the city.
but you do wish it would stopped watching you.
late nights are what you rely on to get your work done. the insomnia you developed for college didn't wade after graduation, and so you work best at night. which is fine for you. living amongst crime alley and high traffic areas, you think the paranoia would keep you up anyway, so its easier to work than lay there restless. but now, you cant concentrate with the beady eyes watching you from across the street.
The first few times you caught him staring, you debated going outside and yelling at him, shooing him like a stray cat. But you highly doubt he'd listen.
you know he's there. and you know he knows you know he's there. and you know its a man. or at least a man shaped being. you'd estimate him to be 6'4, with a bulk build, yet still sleak enough for him to flip around like you've caught him doing him doing, looking like a flea jumping around.
Maybe I could spray him with water.
Now, you feel as though he's just a curious kid, like the ones who come in with their mothers and watch you work to stitch up their raincoats.
But, you know, those kids aren't dressed head to toe in black, with a face mask and beanie on.
But the Shadow, who in your daze, had slinked his way into your store, is.
What the fuck
A cold steel feeling staggers though to your bones. Panic. Like a startled cat, or a cornered mouse. Your chest is tight. Your palms and spine feel cold with sweat, eyes prickling with tears of fear.
Fuck me an i going to die? When did he get in here? WHY is he in my shop?! Fuckk!
Bruce, while you sat panicked in your chair, was having his own conundrum.
He really didn't think he'd get this far, but he sorta blacked out and was suddenly in your store staring down a startled you. He's debated this many many times, and how reckless it is. He could just order the fabric himself and, with excessive help from Alfred, sew his suit himself. But he doubt Alfred would let that happen, already upset he hollowed out the back of the study to become the entrance for his cave of operations. So Bruce thought he'll commission a suit with an anonymous check and enough money on it to keep the sewist quiet. He then did extensive background checks on all those with open commissions in Gotham. He chose you because, well, you're quiet. You meet up with friends every other month, but only talk to your clients. Your online activity is strictly lurking, updating the businesses website with images of your work and general availabilities, but other than that, nothing social drives your interests.
Except your job.
So, logically, someone who is dedicated to the craft will not only make him a high level suit, but would also respect client privacy. And maybe, you might not...laugh.
"Holy FUCK ITS YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY STORE??" your system seems to have caught up, and the adrenaline has circumvented to yelling. Not exactly a good response, but your knees aren't exactly in the condition to fight nor flight. So shouting it is.
"I," he swallowed, "I want to commission a suit."
"Uh... like a business suit..?" You approach, faced with an unpredictable personality infront of you.
He hums, "sort of. I desire it to be made of kevlar and steel, yet remaining light and flexible."
"I..., what do you plan to do in this suit? Fight cops?"
"Fight crime."
That gives you pause. Is he for real? I mean, business is dry this autumn, it'll give me something to do I guess.
"Well, um… d-do you know how expensive kevlar is? That could run me $200 a yard, and it's like 3 to 4 yards to make a suit for an average person. And, i mean this with respect, you are built far bigger than an average person." You finally meet his eyes, a steel blue challenging yours.
"My wallet is also built larger than an average person. I can cover all materials plus labor charges, don't fret, I just need to know if you can do it."
Now you really felt challenged. Who does he think he is?
You will come to find he who he is is your most loyal customer, in labour and love. But not for a good while. No, currently your stuck with the socially inept one.
"I have mock-ups; professional patterns drawn up, I just need someone with a talent for sewing."
You can't believe your doing this. Whoever taught you stranger danger is rolling in their grave, even if they're not dead. Your betrayal has killed them and buried them 6 feet under.
"I'll do it. Can I see the drafts?" Your posture finally returning to a professional level, clearing your desk, sweeping your hand to gesture for him to sit in the client chair. Maybe if he sat he'd be less intimating.
He was not. He slid a manila folder that he pulled out of no where over to you, hand clamped firmly on top, yet to let go.
"Um, can ya move your hand? So I can open it?"
"Just..." he hesitates, eyes distant, like he's about to rip it back from you and run away. He almost did. Almost. "Don't laugh. Please."
"Umm, okay?" Using a little more force, you pry the folder out from his hand, opening it with some fear in you, not sure why he was so afraid. Oh. Oh my god. Is he? Omg wait don't laugh omg oh-
"It’s a ba-"
"are you a fury?! Is that what this is?" You blurt. May said your loose lips would sink ships but how couldn't you ask. Bless her soul how right she was.
"No, I'm harnessing my fear to instil fear in others."
"So your afraid of furries?"
"Bats,” he grumbled, “I'm afraid of bats. When I was nine I fell down into a cave and was stuck with a colony of them. They bit and swarmed me until my dad came to pull me out."
"Oh! Oh, yeah. Yeah that makes sense. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."
The silence stabbed you. You felt sick, you fucked up, making fun of him.
"I'll do it. I'll make the suit, just- I'll need the fabric payment upfront, cause I won't be able to buy the kevlar and-"
The man pulls out a slip of paper from the hood pocket. A check, anonymously signed. To be honest it was a lot more credible than the many wads of cash you’ve gotten before, all vaguely stolen looking, but don’t ask don’t tell i guess. But thee shadow handing you a check is one thing, the amount on it is another.
“this is so much money how do you..? Where? Who are you??” You tattle off, near a whisper. Your grandpa always said count in silence but he may have overlooked how literal you are.
He was much better at being silent, alike this man infront of you. A blank slate.
"Do I at least get a name from you?" You knew it was a stretch, but if he named himself then you could stop calling him names that generally unease you, like the shadow.
"Batman."
Never mind that was worse.
"No not doing that. Mmm could I call you B?"
He hummed, and you swore his cryptics are gonna kill you.

Please do not copy, steal, or repost my work! Thanks!

Here's the thing, anon! :3
I mostly shipped Clydlex because I thought it would be funny. I accidentally fell too deep and now I'm obsessed with it. Send help.
(WARNING: I go by a modern AU, because I'm bad with 80s and 90s stuff)
Clyde is absolutely the top AND the dom. Alex is just a long for the ride, dude.
Alex is the freakiest monsterfucker you've ever met. Seriously, the FREAKIEST. They're into whatever Clyde does to them, even being open to having their skin ripped and eaten.
Clyde is still a sociopathic murderous creature, but it finds Alex oddly endearing. Alex intrigues it. I mean, who would willingly want to be in the presence of The Smiling Snatcher?
Clyde has an absolutely massive dingaling. Alex is disgustingly into it. Alex has an average sized one, and Clyde actively kicks them for it.
Clyde can TECHNICALLY reproduce asexually, but Alex and Clyde still fuck.
By technicality, Alex COULD get pregnant through having sex with Clyde. Clyde just chooses to avoid that.
There was a single time where Alex was in so much pain after a night with Clyde that they couldn't go to work.
Clyde is the big spoon. Alex is fine with this.
Clyde will sometimes just watch Alex for a bit. Just stare. That's how it shows general affection.
Clyde doesn't realize it's dating Alex (it doesn't even know what a relationship is). Alex thinks they're close to getting married (they're delulu).
Kissing is basically impossible, due to Clyde's teeth, so they press their foreheads together instead.
They met because Alex was having a hard time sleeping and went on a walk. Clyde was about to kill and eat Alex, then it got a good look, said "damn they kinda fine tho", and dragged Alex in the woods to fuck.
Clyde listens patiently as Alex rants about FNAF lore.
Clyde is bad with comfort, but it instinctively does aftercare for Alex after they fuck.
Alex occasionally wears a really nice ankle-length emerald satin dress with gold heels (because I fucking said so). Clyde thinks they look beautiful in it, but doesn't know that and is just confused on why it gets a tingly feeling.
Clyde is oddly affectionate, being very touchy and clingy. It confuses Alex, but they just go along with it because it feels nice to be cared about.
Both of them get flustered easily whenever they accidentally flirt with each other.
Clyde only speaks in a whisper, and finds Alex being noisy attractive. Alex is MUCH louder, and finds Clyde being so quiet and stoic attractive.
Clyde is rough in bed, and Alex can hardly handle it. That's what makes Alex like it so much.
Alex has frequent panic attacks, and Clyde (despite being HORRIBLE at human emotions) is weirdly good at helping them through it.
Clyde always tries to keep Alex from going to work. Alex has to get out the spray bottle to actually be able to leave.
Clyde doesn't like water, so Alex sprays it with water to make it stop being a little shit.
Clyde is like a big kitty cat. It WILL curl up in Alex's lap, it WILL knock shit over for the fun of it, and it WILL purr when Alex scratches its chin.
They live together in Alex's house, and Clyde hides in the air vents when someone comes over.
Sometimes, Clyde comes back home covered in dirt. Alex has to force it into the bathtub so they can clean it up. Clyde will hiss and growl and struggle, but eventually gets tired and gives up. Alex is usually laughing so hard their sides hurt whenever it does this.
Clyde has goat-like ears. The ears are just hidden by the hood of its costume. It also has the base of broken horns under its hood as well. Last time Alex asked about the horns, Clyde didn't respond and just hid in the air vents for a week. Alex doesn't ask anymore.
Alex was crying during Sonic 3. Clyde isn't physically able to cry, but it was also sad during Eggman's final broadcast.
They both have different brands of autism. It's hard to explain, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
Alex has to pick fleas off Clyde. They hate having to do that, but Clyde can't do it itself.
Alex has HORRIBLE insomnia and can't sleep at all unless Clyde is cuddling with them.
Clyde is wanted for breaking the Geneva convention. Alex likes it a little too much.
Alright! That's all I can think of rn, but I might make a part two!

Hey I just saw your post about the fleas in your room and thought maybe my advice could help. You can get sprays from pet stores specifically for furniture/rooms as well as a powder called diatomaceous earth, it's completely safe for animals and will dry out and kill any fleas that get on it. If fleas on your pets is a recurring problem I'd also suggest checking the treatment just to make sure it covers all flea life stages and not just adults or eggs (some of them do that and they're way less effective). Hopefully this helps and you can get rid of your fleas problem, I know how awful they can be!!
Thank you sm for this!!!
We were hoping that the fleas would starve to death after jumping off the cats but it seems we are not that lucky so I may need to rezort to flea spray T-T
I also need to stop my dog from getting on my bed , she's the one bringing them inside >:(

I moved the catnip inside temporarily for 2 reasons. The first is because we have fleas ✨🥳✨ and learned that they don't like mint, and I didn't want to spray peppermint oil in my room because of the cat and essential oils being toxic to cats, so I just have the catnip plant in here to hopefully help. We also have diatomaceous earth scattered around (I was choking on it yesterday) and Rookie is now wearing a flea collar. Apartment pest services were also already scheduled for July 26th, so we should be clear of fleas by the time we move out in August. I'm not looking forward to packing (I hate moving), but thankfully unlike my parents homes, we've kept this place pretty clean and it's fairly small so cleaning every room when we go should be pretty easy. The non-packing chore I'm looking forward to the least is changing the shower head back to the landlord's, because it was hard enough to get the old one off and now the current one is just smooth. even if I use the pipe wrench, it's going to be hard to get enough friction to remove it . I don't know how I got it on, to be honest. At least I still have Teflon tape so I won't have to buy any new supplies.
The second reason is to give it a break from the heat since as you can see it's withering a little bit. I might have left it unwatered for a day longer than I should have by accident. I really, really want to put my plants in the ground where I can water them daily and they can freely put down roots :( darn this apartment life.
It will go back outside after a few days of acting as a flea repellent and monitoring for plant health.
The lavender, wand flower, basil, and wildflowers are all dead. The thyme is basically dead but I keep watering it because there are some green sprouts somehow hanging on. Leaving just the cacti, which are doing just fine in the heat. There's also a couple stray sunflowers still kicking in the wildflower box, I'm still watering them too.

[ #WeRate ] Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray: A Natural Solution for Pest-Free Spaces
Living in the humid Gulf Coast with multiple pets, we know firsthand how relentless fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes can be. Keeping these pests at bay is a must, which is why we rely on Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray.
This post contains affiliate links, and we only recommend products we have either used, are using, or would use and share with our family and friends. Click here to read our Affiliate Disclaimer.
Why We Love It
Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray is not just effective; it also has a refreshing peppermint-like smell that our family loves, is smells like fall and Halloween! My kids and I find the scent invigorating, though it fades after a while for those who prefer a subtler fragrance.
What It Is
This 32-oz. bottle of Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray comes with a ready-to-use hose attachment, making it super convenient to apply. The formula's natural oils make it safer to use around plants and pets, which is a big plus for us, especially after one of our cats had a severe reaction to a traditional topical treatment.
How We Use It
We spray our yard after every rain and once a week to keep those pesky insects under control. While we might be overdoing it a bit, living in a flea and mosquito haven like the Gulf Coast means we’d rather be safe than sorry.
Preventing an infestation is far easier than fighting one, especially with multiple pets in the house.
Not only do we use Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray outdoors, but we’ve also found it handy as a quick floor wash indoors to keep fleas from setting up shop.
After spraying (outdoor or indoor), we wait at least 30 minutes before letting our pets back into the treated area. We prefer to wait a couple of hours to be extra cautious, as some pets can be sensitive to even natural oils.
Things to Keep in Mind
While the peppermint scent of Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray is pleasant for us, we know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. If you prefer less scent-y scents or just don't like the smell, don't worry! It dissipates fairly quickly.
We also love that it’s less chemical-heavy than other pest control products, which gives us peace of mind knowing we’re not exposing our pets to harsh chemicals.
Would We Buy It Again?
Rating: ★★★★★
Absolutely! Vet's Best Flea and Tick Yard and Kennel Spray is a staple in our pet care routine. It’s a natural, effective solution for keeping pests away, and the peace of mind it brings is worth every penny.
Whether you’re dealing with the humidity of the Gulf Coast or just want a reliable, less toxic option for your pets, this spray is a great choice.
Disclaimer: We’re not medical professionals—just passionate pet owners sharing what works for us. Always consult your veterinarian for pet-specific issues, and if your pet experiences any adverse reactions, contact them immediately. Every pet is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Your vet is the best source of advice tailored to your pet’s health needs.

oh wait, speaking of baby animals, how are your baby animals doing???
Very well! The three chickies that hatched a couple days before Easter are very cute and sweet and smol and fluffy 😭🖤 and the kittens are all very grown up now, sometimes I forget they're not even a year old yet. 😂 Today's the first day it hasn't rained in awhile so I had planned to spray all of the cats with animal safe flea and tick repellent because the ticks are really bad this year and I only managed to treat Pippin and get a little bit on Virgil before they all understood what was going on and hid from me all day lol, I'm gonna have to treat the rest very sneakily tomorrow

i am anxious and 🤯 so i am typing out shit that’s worrying me to make it stop
I am worried bc there were ants in my car. I had closed some tall grass in the door and when i opened it they were running along the edge. I sprayed ant spray but then on the way home squished four on the windshield/dashboard. I need to spray for ants but given that i feel like shit i haven’t been able to yet and probably won’t tomorrow. Solution: I will ant spray Sunday or Monday. It’s fine. I’m not using my car until then anyway and the spray will kill ant society just as well as one or two ants. and it is not a moral failing to have ants in my car. shit happens.
i am still worried about fleas. Spouse has been in the basement a few times since bug guy came last and not seen any. I have not seen any in two weeks. The cats are still healing fine, don’t seem to be scratching excessively. The one that reacts so strongly is still having her fur grow back normally. We have spray for the yard that spouse can probably use next week. Solution: none, nothing needs done on this right now, it’s just a long process but it’s coming along. need to accept that everything is okay and the fleas are honestly probably dealt with. and every tickle i feel is Not a flea. and again it wasn’t a moral failing that we got fleas. shit, again, happens.
worried that i’m wasting time bc i keep just sitting like a lump staring bc i’m too tired to do anything. solution: yes free time is limited by work and you had all these grand ideas for things you could get done, but recovering from surgery comes first. pushing thru feeling awful will not make you get better. you’ll just get fewer things done, and done worse. calm down.
worried that i probably won’t feel like going and seeing my nephews again this weekend, and one of them really desperately wants me to come hang out. solution: he may be disappointed but he’ll be okay. you can visit later next week. even if he doesn’t understand fully, then it’s a learning experience. you are not failing the kids.
worried that i promised two nephews I’d make them plushies like… two months ago, and haven’t started yet. I got most of the supplies but am still missing a few, which tbh I should go see if I can order that. regardless, solution: they’ll live. you’re making the kids plushies on your own dime as a gift. they can learn patience if it takes you a while to get them done. yes they’re kids and don’t understand adult obligations, but it won’t emotionally scar them for life if it takes you a while to get the plushies done. you aren’t breaking a promise.
worried about how little it took to tank me, like two days of three hours activity each and the next two days went down the shitter. solution: fucking rest, dude. rest. REST. you had an ORGAN REMOVED and you’re chronically ill on top of that, you have. to. rest.
worried that I didn’t get to make sweets for spouses birthday today, and that i won’t feel like doing it tomorrow. solution: just. don’t make them. you know he would rather you rested than cooked things for him. you and he both know it’s just a date, and sweets could be made the next day or the next and it’s fine. you know he would feel awful if you overextended yourself to do something for him. if you can’t make them tomorrow it’s genuinely just fine.
okay i think. that’s it. really the overall solution here is that there is nothing life or death on my to do list, and the obligations i’ve made can easily be rearranged or postponed, and that won’t make anyone hate me or lead to all out apocalypse. it’s okay. everything is okay. i need to rest tomorrow. if I feel like it, I can write, and make the candied citrus, and maybe put the paint samples on the wall, but I should not attempt to do anything more. and at spouses gentle suggestion I have not set an alarm, so i will sleep in tomorrow and hopefully it doesn’t fuck up my sleep schedule but I probably desperately need the extra sleep.
you’d think I would be used to being sick and having to rearrange my life around it, given i’ve been chronically ill for a decade plus, but apparently I’m going to be frustrated and anxious about it Forever. sigh.
ETA I’m also fucking anxious about my story bc i’m afraid it’s cliched or dumb or unoriginal or the characters aren’t developed enough or BLAH BLAH. soliton: YOU ARENT DONE WRITING IT YET. FIX IT LATER. and also you’re writing for YOU, yes I’d love if some people also loved my story but ultimately it is for ME, so calm tf down. you can get second opinions on it when you’ve fixed the rough draft into. first draft.

Me and my spouse spraying the extremely independent little tabby with flea spray: "It's okay, we are helping, we love you, it will be over soon, calm down."
The cat: "Father is betraying me! Father no how could you why is Mother helping Father this is not what I wanted noooo my dignity"
Also the cat: "Oooh warm towel cuddles and treats and brushing, yes I am the best girl in the world, thank you"
cats being capable of understanding accidents and even giving you a little head bonk to let you know you're still cool makes it infinitely funnier that they don't understand when you're trying to help them
cats when you step on their tail: i'll admit that was rather ouchie, but given the lifetime of goodwill and trust between us, one must conclude this booboo is but a fluke.
cats when you try to get their claws unstuck from the couch covering: this nefarious bitch has never had a single honorable intention in their dishonest and shameful life, this must be one of their sinister plots or perhaps even an attempt on my life,

Pest Control Marrickville: Why Flea Control Is Crucial in Summer Months
Summer in Marrickville is a time for sunshine, barbeques, and enjoying the great outdoors. But with the warmer weather also comes a less welcome seasonal problem—fleas. These tiny, fast-breeding pests can quickly turn your home into an itchy nightmare if left unchecked. That’s why flea control is a vital part of pest control Marrickville services, especially during the summer months.
In this blog, we’ll explore why fleas become a major issue in summer, how they affect your pets and household, and how professional pest control solutions from ASL Pest Control can help keep your home flea-free and comfortable all season long.
Why Are Fleas Worse in Summer?
Fleas thrive in warm, humid environments, making the Australian summer the perfect breeding ground for these persistent pests. The temperature range between 21°C and 30°C, combined with increased humidity, accelerates the flea life cycle. What normally takes weeks can now happen in just a few days, leading to explosive infestations.
Here’s what makes summer particularly dangerous:
Accelerated life cycle – Eggs hatch faster, and adults reproduce more frequently.
Increased pet activity – More time outdoors means pets are more likely to bring fleas inside.
Flea larvae survive longer – Thanks to the heat, larvae can survive in carpets, bedding, and upholstery.
All of this means that taking a proactive approach with pest control in Marrickville is more essential than ever during the warmer months.
The Real Impact of Fleas on Your Home and Health
While fleas are tiny, the problems they cause can be massive. An untreated flea problem can result in physical discomfort, property issues, and even serious health concerns for both humans and pets.
For Pets:
Intense itching and discomfort.
Hair loss and skin infections due to excessive scratching.
Flea allergy dermatitis, a common allergic reaction in dogs and cats.
Transmission of tapeworms and other parasites.
For Humans:
Painful, itchy bites, often on the ankles or lower legs.
Allergic reactions, including rashes and swelling.
Risk of flea-borne diseases like murine typhus or bartonellosis.
Professional pest control Marrickville services like those offered by ASL Pest Control are crucial for safely and effectively removing fleas before they cause harm to your family and pets.
How to Know if You Have a Flea Infestation
Catching a flea problem early can save you time, money, and discomfort. Here are some key signs to look out for:
Excessive scratching or biting by your pets.
Flea dirt (small black specks) in your pet’s fur or bedding.
Small jumping insects visible on carpets, rugs, or furniture.
Itchy bites on your legs or arms, especially after sitting on the floor or furniture.
If you notice one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a local pest control Marrickville expert like ASL Pest Control to inspect your home and recommend a targeted flea treatment plan.
Why DIY Flea Treatments Don’t Always Work
You might be tempted to reach for an over-the-counter spray or flea bomb, but these DIY methods often fail to tackle the root of the problem. That’s because flea infestations are rarely limited to what’s visible. Fleas can lay eggs in hard-to-reach places like:
Deep carpet fibres.
Cracks in wooden floors.
Upholstered furniture.
Pet bedding.
While DIY products may kill adult fleas on contact, they often don’t eliminate the eggs, larvae, and pupae hidden throughout your home. Within days or weeks, the infestation returns—often worse than before.
Hiring a professional pest control Marrickville service ensures that ASL Pest Control uses the right methods and products to eliminate fleas at all life stages, breaking the cycle for good.
What Makes ASL Pest Control Different?
When it comes to pest control in Marrickville, ASL Pest Control stands out for its experience, expertise, and commitment to safe and effective pest solutions. Here’s what you can expect when you choose ASL:
Pet-safe and eco-friendly products.
Thorough inspection of your entire property.
Customised flea treatment plans.
Follow-up services to ensure complete eradication.
Advice for long-term flea prevention.
ASL Pest Control’s team of licensed technicians knows exactly how to handle the unique pest control challenges that Marrickville homeowners face during summer.
Flea Prevention Tips for the Summer
In addition to professional flea control, you can take steps to reduce your risk of infestation:
Vacuum frequently to remove eggs and larvae from carpets and furniture.
Wash pet bedding regularly in hot water.
Use veterinarian-approved flea treatments for your pets.
Keep your lawn trimmed and remove debris where fleas may hide.
Inspect pets daily after outdoor activities.
Combining these habits with expert services from ASL Pest Control Marrickville will give you the best chance of a flea-free summer.

Effective Strategies for Raccoon Removal: Protecting Your Home and Property
Tumblr media
Raccoons are clever, curious, and surprisingly resourceful animals. While they may seem harmless from a distance, these nocturnal creatures can become a serious nuisance when they decide to make your attic, garage, or backyard their new home. If left unchecked, raccoons can cause structural damage, spread disease, and pose a risk to pets and people. That’s why proactive and humane raccoon removal is essential for homeowners.
In this guide, we’ll explore the most effective strategies for raccoon removal, along with prevention tips to keep them from returning.
Why Raccoon Removal Is Important
Raccoons are more than just a minor inconvenience. When they invade your property, they can:
Tear apart insulation and ductwork
Chew electrical wiring (a fire hazard)
Leave behind droppings that may contain harmful pathogens
Spread parasites like fleas and ticks
Attack if they feel cornered or threatened, especially females with young
Given these risks, prompt raccoon removal is key to maintaining a safe and healthy living environment.
Signs of a Raccoon Infestation
Before initiating any removal efforts, it’s important to confirm that raccoons are indeed the culprits. Common signs include:
Loud thumping or scratching sounds at night
Torn shingles or roof vents
Droppings near entry points or inside the attic
Tipped-over garbage cans
Tracks or paw prints around your property
Once you’ve identified the presence of raccoons, you can move on to safe and effective raccoon removal strategies.
Top Raccoon Removal Strategies
1. Live Trapping (Humane Capture)
Live traps are one of the most common tools used for raccoon removal. These cage-style traps are baited with food such as marshmallows, cat food, or fruit and are designed to safely contain the animal for relocation.
Tips for successful trapping:
Place traps near known entry points or travel routes
Use gloves to avoid transferring human scent
Check traps frequently to avoid unnecessary stress on the animal
Follow all local laws regarding trapping and relocation
Note: In many areas, relocating raccoons without proper permits is illegal. Always consult with wildlife authorities or hire a licensed removal professional.
2. Exclusion Techniques
After removing the raccoon, it’s vital to prevent others from entering. Key exclusion methods include:
Sealing entry points with heavy-gauge wire mesh or metal flashing
Installing chimney caps and vent covers
Repairing broken soffits or eaves
Using motion-activated lights or sprinklers to deter nighttime visits
A thorough property inspection can reveal weak points where raccoons may gain access.
3. Repellents and Deterrents
Commercial raccoon repellents (sprays, granules, or ultrasonic devices) can help deter raccoons temporarily. However, these should not be relied upon as the sole solution.
Natural deterrents such as ammonia-soaked rags or loud noises may discourage nesting, but raccoons are highly adaptable and may return if proper raccoon removal measures aren’t taken.
4. Call a Professional Wildlife Removal Service
If you're unsure about handling raccoons yourself—or if the infestation is severe—hiring a professional raccoon removal expert is the safest and most effective option.
Licensed wildlife control technicians can:
Assess the full extent of the infestation
Remove raccoons humanely and legally
Repair and secure entry points
Offer long-term prevention solutions
How to Prevent Future Raccoon Problems
Even after successful raccoon removal, prevention is key to avoiding repeat invasions:
Secure garbage bins with tight-fitting lids or animal-proof containers
Bring pet food indoors at night
Trim tree branches that provide rooftop access
Clean up fallen fruit or bird seed from the yard
Regularly inspect your roof, attic, and crawl spaces for signs of entry
A proactive approach will make your home less appealing to raccoons in the future.
Conclusion
Raccoons may be clever and persistent, but with the right wildlife removal strategies, you can reclaim your property and protect your family. Whether you choose to trap and exclude them yourself or hire a professional, acting quickly is essential to minimize damage and health risks.
Always remember: humane, legal, and preventative measures are the most effective ways to handle raccoon problems. Protect your home today and keep it raccoon-free tomorrow.

Pet-Safe Pest Control: How to Keep Fleas and Ticks Away Naturally Without Harsh Chemicals
Keep fleas and ticks away naturally to safeguard your pets from painful bites, itching, and dangerous diseases—without exposing them to harsh chemical treatments. These parasites aren't just a nuisance; they can cause severe health issues in both animals and humans. Fortunately, natural methods are both effective and gentle. In this guide, you’ll discover three reliable ways to keep fleas and ticks away naturally using safe, holistic techniques.
Why Choose Natural Over Chemical Solutions?
Most over-the-counter flea and tick treatments are packed with chemicals like fipronil and permethrin. These may cause:
Skin irritation, redness, or chemical burns
Neurological issues including seizures or tremors
Vomiting, lethargy, or disorientation
Risk of transfer to children and other pets through skin contact
According to the EPA , thousands of adverse reactions have been reported from conventional flea control. That’s why many pet parents are turning to safer ways to keep fleas and ticks away naturally—with great success.
🌿 1. Keep Fleas and Ticks Away Naturally with Essential Oils
Essential oils are one of nature’s best defenses against bugs. Their scents repel pests and can protect your pets without synthetic chemicals.
Dog-Friendly Essential Oils
Lavender – Calming and flea-repelling
Cedarwood – Potent against fleas and ticks
Lemongrass – Bugs steer clear of its citrus scent
Peppermint – Naturally deters ticks
Eucalyptus – Effective but use only in diluted form
⚠️ Essential oils should never be applied directly to cats. Instead, use diluted sprays around their space or try hydrosols.
DIY Natural Flea & Tick Spray
1 cup distilled water
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops cedarwood essential oil
Instructions: Combine in a spray bottle, shake well, and mist your dog’s fur (avoid the face). You can also spray pet bedding, collars, and crates.
🐾 Prefer convenience? Try The Paw Story’s natural flea sprays made with neem, lavender, and other safe botanicals.
🥦 2. Keep Fleas and Ticks Away Naturally with a Healthy Diet
A strong immune system helps your pet fight off pests from the inside. What your pet eats can play a crucial role in flea and tick resistance.
Natural Supplements That Help
Brewer’s Yeast – High in B-vitamins; subtly alters body odor to repel fleas
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) – Balances pH; just 1 tsp in food or water can help
Omega-3 Fatty Acids – Boost skin health and resistance
Garlic (Dogs Only) – Use tiny, vet-approved amounts as a natural repellent

🧼 3. Keep Fleas and Ticks Away Naturally with Clean Habits
Clean pets and clean homes are less attractive to parasites. With a little routine care, you can avoid infestations altogether.
Grooming Tips
Use a flea comb daily
Bathe with neem or oatmeal shampoo every 2–4 weeks
Check hot spots like ears, belly, armpits, and tail area
🧴 Keep your pets fresh with The Paw Story’s Protien shampoos — gentle and effective.
Clean Home = Pest-Free Zone
Wash pet bedding weekly in hot water
Vacuum floors, furniture, and rugs 2–3 times per week
Use natural cleaners with citrus or cedar oil
Steam clean carpets monthly
According to PetMD , regular vacuuming can eliminate 95% of flea eggs and larvae from your home.
🪴 Bonus Tip: Outdoor Yard Care to Keep Fleas and Ticks Away Naturally
Fleas and ticks often start in your yard. Take these simple steps to keep your garden pest-free:
Mow grass regularly
Remove leaf piles and clutter
Add cedar chips—fleas and ticks hate them
Use a homemade yard spray: 2 cups water + 10 drops cedarwood oil + 1 tbsp vinegar
🧺 Extra Natural Tools You Can Use Year-Round
DIY Herbal Collar Add 1–2 drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil to a cloth collar or bandana. Reapply every 3–4 days.
Routine Vet Visits Natural remedies are excellent, but don’t skip vet checkups. Vets can detect early infestations and recommend safe, chemical-free care.
🔍 Signs of Flea or Tick Trouble
Watch for:
Excessive scratching or licking
Red, inflamed bumps or scabs
Flea dirt (tiny black specks in fur)
Lethargy or appetite loss—especially from tick-related illness
