I find it interesting that when faced with deciding with book to buy, it seems like the answer is to get the one that had been published more recently.

For Anne's previous book ('Reading People'), I was excited in spending time immersed in a book which has squished a lot of the popular personality types. I myself have leant more into the knowledge that I'm an Outgoing Introvert, a Detailed (Enneagram 1) Dragon (Enneagram 8), and have Rebel-Obliger tendencies.

One of the first Personality Tests I've gone through is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and it's probably the one I refer to the least. Maybe because I kind of like more of a deconstructed approach?

I noticed that being mostly a Dragon is also similar to being a Rebel. Not exactly the same because those who lean into detail (Ones) could have mostly Upholder Tendencies.

One think I am still skeptical about is tendencies changing. For example: A woman who I recently crossed paths with claims that she was an extrovert before and now she's an introvert because of hurtful experiences. I'm more of the belief that she was affected by the betrayals. That she might have been an Introvert all along.

Though you're probably waving your arms and reminding me that there are those who sit where Extroverts and Introverts are and are able to get the most out of both worlds.

As for 'Don't Overthink It', I found myself struggling to keep going. I'm not sure what it was. Maybe it's because I had a good Gut Feel of 'Reading People' that I didn't want to give up on this one? It could also be me wanting to sit with discomfort. That I see it as an opportunity to increase my Patience Threshold.

Part of me feels like the book isn't for me. That I'm not an overthinker and really would Rip The Band-Aid when I get to a certain point. What seems like overthinking might just be that part of myself that gets scared of the consequences. It's usually fuelled by past betrayals.

Y'all I did NOT know this about Harris, and I think it's really critical that we all listen and understand as we approach this election. Video at the end.

This creator's video describes how progressive Harris was as a prosecutor -- actively going against the grain to the point she was accused of being soft on crime. Accused of being a social worker, not a prosecutor. She calls it being smart on crime. She's pushing for systemic changes to give real pathways to reintegrate incarcerated folks back into society and prevent their past from continuing to haunt them moving forward.

"Kamala's a cop" is a catchy dismissive response usually used to shut down conversation rather than add nuance. But this kind of reform is ESSENTIAL to work towards a present and future that treats incarcerated people with value.

I fell for it in 2020 and have thought "Kamala's a cop" without further inspection since - and I'm sobered by the realization that (you guessed it!) I'm not immune to propaganda.

A better system only follows liberal democracy, because library democracy allows for exploration of better systems. If authoritarianism takes hold, it will not allow for the exploration of better systems. We will have to fight tooth and nail just to try to get back to liberal democracy, and I suspect we could not achieve it in our lifetimes.

Harris isn't perfect. But she's a hell of a lot better than many leftists have led me to believe. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good. Don't let perfection be the enemy of harm reduction.

We can either help elect Trump and usher in authoritarian fascism, or we can help defeat him and pull things back in the direction we want to go. Not liking the choices doesn't absolve you from participating and doing the most good you can with the options available.

turbo is connected to the last piece of his code in the whole arcade - a trophy he gifted to felix in mid 80s as a symbol of him genuinely caring about their relationships on par with being the best racer. felix also gave him one of his medals and both kept their gifts next to other rewards, but when roadblasters and turbotime were unplugged, the medal was gone with everything else

now, after burning in cola-lava turbo is basically dead, but scraps of his code still were intertwined with the trophy (after all, it was his first winner's cup, but felix never knew about it), giving turbo an opportunity to exist as a shadow incapable of interacting with anything and anyone besides felix, who kept the trophy even after the roadblasters incident

Phoenix's relationship with flying:

It's a bit complicated. Basically, Phoenix can fly, but he historically chooses not to. From the lack of any practice, he's an INCREDIBLY weak flier. (That hovering is really all he can manage)

For one, he's still afraid of heights. Can't help that. This fear means he was less inclined to practice flying, which made him a weaker flier. And being a weaker flier, in turn, made his fear of heights worse. And so on, in a loop. With flightless parents too (it's canon now it's canon), there's even less of a reason to learn to fly. At some point, not flying might've even become something he stuck with out of stubbornness lol, knowing Phoenix.

(I will soon be making a couple small world building posts, but) flying isn't necessary to get around in their society. Convenient, sure, but Phoenix realized he could make do without, and so he did. Phoenix, you icon. Slay. 💅💅

i know this probably isn't the popular take with wing AUs??, but Phoenix being flightless (or at least semi-flightless) sounded like a really fun take on the idea to me. His name is irony at its peak. I also look forward to exploring how other characters react to him not flying. The prosecutors are going to have so many cheap insult opportunities.

As I mentioned though, he still uses his wings a LOT, though. He's much more emotive with them than most people. His sarcastic inner-dialogue remarks are also betrayed by his wings lmao

I also imagine bird-folk never really invented bikes (riding would just be annoying with their wings, plus bikes aren't fast/efficient enough to outweigh just flying), so instead, Phoenix gets around on a little wing-powered scooter device (like scootaloo lol) (they're usually made for children who can't fly yet, but Phoenix still uses one)

finally, wow, stellar jay’s are quite literally just phoenix wright as a bird lmao? color scheme, hair, it’s uncanny. give it a pink tie and it just is Phoenix Wright, i used a blue jay since they’ve got a bit more striking wings but wow.

Something I think is cute is that - y’know how Raph’s eyes are more on the yellow side?

Well, you know who also has slightly yellowed eyes? Donnie.

While Raph’s are more yellow, I think it’s cute that this is something that they share and I don’t see it pointed out too often?

It’s also something they both share with Draxum and Splinter’s current form (though again, these two have much more yellow sclera than the boys do.)

But yeah, I like that there’s this little detail that ties Raph and Donnie together, even if it’s small.

the thing about shima is that to become the "better person" he wants to be he'll have to learn to be kind to himself first!!!!!! he's not the sick and twisted guy he believes he is!!!!!!!! it's exactly as mitsumi said it, he's not aware of how his kindness saves people!!!!! to me the idea of "catching up" to mitsumi isn't that he has to become as good of a person as mitsumi is but that he has to have enough confidence in himself to allow himself to be by her side. not becoming a good person, believing in yourself enough to realize that you're trying your best at being good already. but we're getting there i think

(Another benefit I find is if I read the User Manual of the vehicle I'm driving as soon as possible is that I'll be able to flag features that don't work. Maybe even test out things that I had no idea that were there.)

...I somehow was reminded of the document I'm putting together for Bear that would serve as a reference manual for her when feeling stuck because of a rupture or an idea for an anniversary gift.

One section I can add is letting her know that her best self is possible. Her Emotional Wounds sustained from her parents not being able to prep properly before they had her is something she can heal from. That she is not broken despite the narrative that is swirling in the depths of her unconscious.

Her exes choosing to blame her for their inadequacies is about them, not Bear. That if she decides to lead by example, the people around her who have not reached adequate Emotional Maturity will be influenced by her behaviour.

i think dinostar is such an interesting ship right now even if i've kind of turned away from it after this season. the problem is that it's complicated, and fandoms historically don't like nuanced situations or takes. i don't think it's fair to say darius is putting brooklynn on a pedestal, since from his perspective, she hasn't done anything wrong, and kenji has been framed as this unfair partner to her. it does feel like his feelings are very immature and more of an infatuation right now ("if he loved you half as much.."/"unless?"), especially when you compare them to kenji's own feelings for brooklynn - his girlfriend who he's loved for 6 years - but that isn't a horrible thing, it's just different. i do completely understand if people dislike the ship right now, and even criticize darius' way of handling the accidental confession, but i just think people have been way too harsh on all three of them without being willing to see that all of their perspectives are different

Listen guys I get that the new watcher news sucks and is awful, I hate it too, but I think some people are overreacting, just a little bit. The pivot to streaming is absolute bullshit and, objectively, a bad move but you don't need to scorn everything they've ever made just because they made a stupid decision. Ryan, Shane, and Steven are human beings trying to grow their company and they've made a bad bussiness desicion. They are not devils and everything they've ever made is not suddenly bad, they're just idiots, and sometimes, it's okay to just be an idiot.
