OG Choi Han they could never make me hate you cause if some random rich boy was yelling at me and telling me my family deserved to die like a day after it happened and all I wanted was to know how I could get help I’d beat him up too

This plus the added fact that the Harris Village people were the first people to take Choi Han in and take care of him after years and years in the dark forest. Like he’s obviously not going to be mentally stable after all that, and he was so young when everything happened to him like I cannot blame him at all. I don’t think I can ever hate OG Choi Han like ever, he’s flawed, he has problems, but I love him dearly. He deserves the world. This kid who had to fight for his life, was taken away from his family, and in the process had to give up parts of his own humanity to survive, and like went to war two years later, they could never make me hate u OG Choi Han…

Like yeah violence is bad I guess but OG Cale had it coming(saying this as an OG Cale fan, I love him, but he was mean as hell when he was younger!)

If I’m honest, I think they were both in the wrong to an extent. Like OG Cale shouldn’t have said all that no matter the circumstances, and OG Choi Han shouldn’t have beaten him up so much. But u say mean shit and you get hit, that is how it will work when you’re talking to the guy who just saw his entire village get murdered like idkkkk man

I understand where OG Cale was coming from, but he had many issues and while he wasn’t an awful person, he was capable of doing bad things because of his own internalized pain and emotions that he never got to properly process because of his emotionally distant childhood and relationship with his father who should have been there for him more when he was younger.

Okay speaking of his childhood, Deruth isn’t the WORST father in the world but there are a lot of things he could have done better. I think a lot of Deruth’s flaws come from his fear of failure and messing up. He’s scared of doing the wrong thing, and so he sticks to doing what he knows and using what he knows best. That’s why he uses his money, that’s why gift giving is his way of showing affection, he knows that it is one thing he cannot mess up.

The problem is that money and gifts is NOT what OG Cale needed. I think what that guy needed the most was a parent who wasn’t afraid to talk to him, to ask him questions. Not to say that Deruth gave up on OG Cale, but I think in a way he gave up on OG Cale by giving up on himself. Deruth didn’t trust himself to have the capabilities to talk to OG Cale, which is why he never did. It’s because that Deruth was scared, and didn’t trust himself, that he could never face OG Cale

If Deruth was able to trust himself a little more, and pull himself together, I don’t think OG Cale would have turned out the way he did. As a kid, he probably thought the only way he could help his family without relying on anyone(no doubt this whole ‘I have to do it myself’ thing came from the fact that he couldn’t rely on his father when his mom died, and instead was acting as a pillar of support for his father when it should have been the other way around) was to sabotage himself, the only heir. If he was shown to be unfit to be heir, then everyone else would have no choice but to direct their hatred towards him instead of his family.

If Deruth had talked to his son at least ONCE when he was a kid, asking him why he was upset or why he did the things he did, I think OG Cale would have told him. Why? Because he’s a kid!! A kid will obviously want to rely on his father, if he just had one sign telling him that he didn’t have to do it alone I’m 90% sure OG Cale would have said something.

Basically, while Deruth isn’t the worst father, he’s not really a great father either. I think he does do his best, but he has issues with communication lol

OG Cale and OG Choi Han are both complex characters and had their own reasons to behave the way they did. The thing is with people is that they’re complicated and have layers, so the situation with them would have layers behind it as well with multiple co-existing truths and stuff

I would like to share with you a story from my time at Yonsei University in South Korea:

The Americans arrived about 4-5 days early, giving everyone a few schedule-free days to deal with jetlag and get acclimated before our Korean roommates arrived.

First semester, I had issues with my roommates keeping the room insanely hot (like, they kept the room so hot that laptops would overheat), mainly via the floor heater. My roommates had more flaws than good points and were actually banned from the program for academic reasons.

All I was told about second semester was that they actually put special focus on who my roommates would be, as a sort of apology for how bad mine were.

So, second semester, my first roommate arrives, a small and adorably doll-like girl whose English name was Sophia. Sweet, cute, almost cartoonishly high-pitched voice. She comes in and in the most angelic tone goes "Do you like it hot or cold?" I answered cold, and she grinned and said "Me too!" and walked over to the coil where the floor heater connected to power, slammed her designer stiletto heel into it so hard the whole thing dented at a right angle, and destroyed that thing, never to work again.

Then very sweetly and just as cheerfully said "Oops! It was like that when we both arrived :)"

And like, yeah, sure, whatever you say, psychopath who is now sleeping 3 feet from my skull.

Sophia had arrived early, the other 2 roommates were coming the next morning, and so we go to bed about an hour after meeting.

At 2 in the morning, I wake up to feel someone touching me. Sophia was pulling my blankets up to my chin (they'd apparently fallen when I rolled over). In a white nightgown with long black hair obscuring her face, illuminated only by a sliver of light through the curtains like a demon from a horror movie.

And in her sweet, high-pitched Poppy Playtime kind of doll-like voice she sing-songs "Sssh~ Go to sleep~~~"

Holy shit does How To Get Away With Murder end so badly. Total waste of time, right up the end. After season one it was like sitting in a car on neutral with no brakes on a growing decline.

The characters just started getting worse and worse, up until season five where the characters just up and pivoted drastically, so much so that they might as well have been all new characters, only for them to be given almost no substantial end. From season one it’s made obvious that Annaliese is the main character, but what you understandably don’t realize until the end is that, despite at least 50% (being extremely generous since it’s likely more) of the show being centered around them, almost none of the other ‘main’ characters are actually anything more than side characters for Annaliese to bounce off of. None of them are given arcs or reasonable endings.

The series ends with Annaliese being found not-guilty for all of the bullshit throughout the series, Conner going to prison and attempting to divorce Oliver out of love, Michaela walking away scot free after rightfully losing the last few people who were close to her, Laurel fucking off to who knows where to raise her clearly genetically-modified clone of Wes, named Christopher, and Frank and Bonnie dying...

...and then it jumpcuts immediately to years later at Annaliese’s funeral where an old Laurel is there with her now-adult son, Christopher, who again is a fucking clone of Wes, and an old Conner and Oliver, still together, and Michaela somehow becomes I guess a Supreme Court Justice because of course the racist homophobic strong powerful black woman has to win.

And I can’t describe to you how jarring this jumpcut is either, like we go from basically everyone’s worst day imaginable and immediately cut to this somber, yet still nice and comforting day. God forbid if I was supposed to cry when Conner was trying to divorce Oliver so he wouldn’t be alone while he went to prison because seconds later it would’ve just jumped to when everything was all nice and happy between them again which is just so wild.

Honestly, the biggest sin is Michaela. I’ll hand it to Shonda for having the balls to at least not put her at the funeral, further emphasizing the fact that in the end she pushed away the last few people who gave a shit about her after she thoroughly stabbed them in the back. But that’s the only thing I’ll hand to her because quite frankly, none of the side characters got character arcs which is a shame altogether, but Michaela’s arc was so obvious from season one.

They literally called her out as being the “shooting star”, which meant she was the one who would rise hot and fast only to crash and burn in the end. Throughout the series she went on and on about how she wanted to be Annaliese, up until I believe either seasons five or six where she vindictively states that she no longer wants to be Annaliese, she wants to be herself, and in that moment it’s clear that she genuinely believes she’s somehow better than Annaliese. She showed clear signs of having all of Annaliese’s worst traits, amplified, and almost none of her good ones--aside from the law. So I think a more fitting end for her, genuinely (and not just because I hate her character so fucking much), would’ve been for her to crash and burn like she was always meant to. She should’ve died from alcohol poisoning or something early on in her career. Fizzled out. Been disbarred. Something. She should not have been anywhere close to becoming a SCJ or whatever it was she ended up being.

I could go on, but I’ve said enough. The show was just abysmal. It almost makes me want to know how Scandal ended, just to see if it was anywhere near as bad, but whatever. I’m not wasting my time again.
