Park City by JVNEBVG – Review
The following article was featured in Trap Metal Magazine issue #1
CHECK IT OUT HERE: https://www.trapmetal.net/tmm1-gizmo/
PARK CITY by @jvnebvg kicks off with a creative intro that throws listeners back to the 90s, with a cassette player’s click setting the tone for the gritty ride ahead. This nostalgic touch feels intentional, signaling to the listener that JVNEBVG is an artist who plays with eras and sounds. By the time Track 2: BONESHAKER rolls in, you’re hit with that raw Trap Metal and Punk Rap fusion, a sound that JVNEBVG delivers effortlessly. It’s aggressive but calculated, pushing that rebellious energy, and some subtle Cyberpunk vibes, though the artist’s branding pulls more from the grunge scene. What really stands out is the blend of genres in this project. Track 3 and 4 are reminiscent of breakbeat and rave, taking cues from the likes of The Prodigy and Aphex Twin, but JVNEBVG keeps things rooted in Punk Rap, giving a futuristic edge to the grimey, bass-heavy beats.
The collaboration on Track 4: I’m Not The One with Ak3k is a definite high point. Ak3k’s feature adds a dynamic layer, and if you’re familiar with his work, you’ll find his voice meshes perfectly with JVNEBVG’s rebellious grit. The next shift happens in Track 5, which pulls back into a hip-hop and rap lane with a feature from Beamon. This switch in tempo and vibe is refreshing, proving that JVNEBVG isn’t one-dimensional. He’s fluid, willing to jump genres while still making the track feel like it fits into the overall project. The title track PARK CITY really encapsulates JVNEBVG’s core sound. It’s the pinnacle of Trap Metal and Scream Rap with layers of harsh vocal texture and heavy instrumentation. Here, JVNEBVG’s voice feels like a weapon, cutting through the beat with purpose. The depth and texture in his vocal delivery are undeniable and are a true testament to his versatility as an artist. Even though Trap Metal can often be associated with chaotic screaming, JVNEBVG brings technique and intentionality to every shout and growl, showing he’s more than just noise—he’s creating something visceral.
After the intensity of PARK CITY, the album takes a breath with an interlude, and the mood shifts into a softer space. The next few tracks offer a more intimate side of JVNEBVG, showcasing that he’s not all about aggression. There’s a vulnerability that comes through, a shift in energy that feels natural, not forced. It’s here you see the creative depth—he’s not just one lane. The album wraps up with DISTORTED, a bass-heavy collaboration with ARSX that brings back the raw, darker edge. The final track feels like a perfect bookend to the project, tying off the chaos with a sense of resolution. There’s no filler here—each song is crafted with purpose and intention. What really shines through is the audio engineering. Every beat, every vocal layer, every distorted sound is meticulously placed. This isn’t a DIY basement tape thrown together for shock value. JVNEBVG is producing art—an experience that feels both polished and raw. You can tell he cares about the sonic quality as much as the message, and it shows throughout.
Overall, PARK CITY is a well-balanced project that blends nostalgia with innovation. JVNEBVG is a diverse, creative force, balancing Trap Metal, Punk Rap, and hip-hop with gritty lyricism and deep introspection. The album delivers something for everyone, from aggressive headbangers to deeper, moodier tracks. Each song stands on its own but contributes to the larger narrative, and his collaborations with Ak3k and ARSX elevate the overall vibe. This is more than just an album—it’s a statement. I give PARK CITY a perfect 10/10. Every track is unique, but the overall vibe feels cohesive, making this a standout project in today’s underground scene. If you’re a fan of Trap Metal, Punk Rap, or even a curious listener looking for something with depth and grit, PARK CITY is worth every second. Be sure to check it out!

That Mexican OT Shares 'Texas Technician' Mixtape, Twists His Fingers with Moneybagg Yo in New Video
Rolling his r's with reckless abandon as he lays down his rapidfire rhymes, That Mexican OT is Texas to the bone. Today, the Bay City native shares Texas Technician, his new mixtape, and a high-octane tribute to his home state's bountiful rap scene. Refining the all-encompassing sound that he developed for his breakout 2023 album Lonestar Luchador, the new Texas Technician hones in on a sound that has percolated in the Lone Star State for decades–slow moving, warped, haunting, speaker-knocking Texas rap. Along with A-listers from across the country, OT rolls out the purple carpet for fellow Texans, including Trill-era legends like Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, and Propain, and contemporaries like Trapboy Freddy, OTB Fastlane, and his Bay City running mates Drodi and Hogg Booma.
Texas Technician is home to the recent single "02.02.99," a haunting horrorcore heatrock which became one of OT's biggest hits. Released in early January, the song has generated over 34million streams across platforms. "02.02.99" peaked at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100, spending three weeks on the chart. He followed "02.02.99" with "Point 'Em Out," a collaboration with DaBaby that spawned a Pulp Fiction-referencing video. These highlights are joined by 14 new bangers, including the apocalyptic "Chicken Strips & Ass," his latest collab with "Johnny Dang" compadre Paul Wall, the high-rolling "Cowboy In an Escalade" ft. Trapboy Freddy, the screwed-up outlaw story "Crooked Officer" ft. Z-Ro, "Hola," a Fredo Bang-featuring slapper that somehow borrows from both Tejano music and East Coast club, and more. With production from regular collaborators like DJ Skelez and national names like Bankroll Got It, the new tape is an immersive world into OT's day-to-day, filled with dirty syrup, clean Escalades, and an endless parade of sold-out dates.
Another major highlight is "Twisting Fingers," OT's collaboration with Moneybagg Yo, which receives a brand new video today. Produced by Bankroll Got It, "Twisting Fingers" is a low-down, dirty, bass-heavy banger with stabs of horror movie strings, as OT and Bagg each promise to stay loyal to gang no matter how successful they become. Directed by OT's frequent shooter DGreen Filmz, the video is a flashback to the rapper's rambunctious school days. He talks smack on the bus to school, shoots dice in the restroom, and learns lessons in American sign language from Mr. Bagg, aka Moneybagg Yo.
youtube
"Point 'Em Out" and "02.02.99" continue OT's hot streak, which started last summer and made him one of the most exciting breakthrough rap stars of 2023. He started his legendary run with "Johnny Dang" ft. Drodi & Paul Wall, which spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, earned GOLD status from the RIAA, and appeared on Lonestar Luchador, his acclaimed album. Acclaimed by Pitchfork (7.5), last July's Lonestar Luchador made an immediate impact, reaching #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and peaking at #59 on the Billboard 200. Last fall, That Mexican OT completed the "Lonestar Luchador Tour," the Bay City native's first-ever headlining tour, selling out dozens of dates across the country. The rapper earned "Best Of 2023" notices from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and Pitchfork,
Recently profiled by the Los Angeles Times, SPIN Magazine, and his hometown Houston Chronicle, and featured on XXL's The Break, That Mexican OT is outta here. Stay tuned for much more from the Bay City, TX rhymer, including a brand new project, as he launches into the stratosphere.

clipping. — There Existed an Addiction to Blood (Sub Pop)
There Existed an Addiction to Blood by clipping.
When the apocalypse comes, it won’t need a soundtrack: there will be no one to listen to it. But there is no reason for it not to exist, it will just play for itself, no maker and no listener. There Existed an Addiction to Blood by clipping. is a record found where people had their last picnic at the roadside.
It’s been said that rap is a parody on poetry. If it’s true, then horrorcore is a parody on rap. The usual attributes: blood, a maniac on the prowl, body parts and body bags — hardly scare anyone now, yet they stay part of the attraction. It’s all fun and games until someone loses a reason to listen to it, having finally realized that horrorcore is a moronic rehashing of the same (body) parts. In the classic horrorcore the lyrics are “footage” and the beats are soundtrack to murder, fully subordinate to words.
With at least one of the band members having a license to be smart (a PhD), clipping. record music that isn’t to be digested with a straight face. They make it uncomfortable. Harsh noise, clicks and clacks, apocalyptic sound waves, samples from outer space — they all stand in their cosmic harmony. The world has ended, and we just are leftovers, say these sounds. But when the lyrics start being uttered upon these sounds, suddenly the harmony is lost: words are uncomfortable in the company of music, music being uncomfortable in the company of words. The usual and worn out horrorcore lyrics resemble now parts in “found poetry,” left to their own devices. They are no longer pastiches made by humans but cosmic shards of meaning. The tracks recorded with Benny the Butcher and Elcamino (“La Mala Ordina”) and with La Chat (“Run For Your Life”) are hints at what’s possible when our-worldly lyrics paired down with otherworldy music. (Sometimes the voice begins to sound like Aesop Rock’s, as on “Blood on the Fang,” but it just goes to show that everything can be recycled in the post-history world.)
When the album closes down with the track “Piano Burning”— literally sounds of piano burning for 18 minutes — the biggest question is, Is the band burning down a piano as a sign that they are “killing the culture,” or the band just recording the record of a piano burning, meekly showing that the culture is already dead and they are just witnesses? Probably the answer is it doesn’t matter. There is no difference.

An Interview With GIZMO For The Cover Of Trap Metal Magazine
The following article was featured in Trap Metal Magazine issue #1 featuring GIZMO on the cover!!! CHECK IT OUT HERE
1. Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed for Trap Metal Arsenal Magazine. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us, how have you been?
G: My name is gizmo, I am one of the original first 10 artists making “trap metal” on SoundCloud. I make a handful of different styles but I am most known for my screaming style. I have been good thank you for asking.
2. How long have you been working / making music under the title Gizmo and what is the meaning behind it? How did this name come to be?
G: I have been making music under the alias gizmo for about 9 years. I went with gizmo for my name because of the movie gremlins, it was one of my favorites growing up (still is) the styles I go for musically align with who and what gizmo is. When gizmo is not exposed to water or fed after midnight he is chill calm emotional, like some of the music I make, but when he’s exposed to water or fed after midnight (like when I’m faced with fuck shit or people fuck with me) he turns into a demonic gremlin, which goes with my harder styles.
3. Who gets bragging rights for helping you get to where you are now? Who are your day ones?
G: Prohibeo (rip) taught me everything I know about music without him I wouldn’t be where I am today or have any of the musical knowledge I do now. As far as influences s/o Xavier wulf, bones, rozz dyliams, retch, gucci mane, waka flocka, chief keef, and 90’s alt rock.
Provide a caption (optional)
4. What were you doing before all this started? Did you have other notable projects or ambitions before this one?
G: I was a professional photographr, really good swimmer, avid skateboarder (yes I can kickflip), fisherman, hunter, and lover of all small creatures. Still follow most of these passions to this day.
5. Why do you have an affinity for Trap Metal? And do you even like being referred to as a trap metal artist? I asked because there has been a lot of controversy on the subject, and I like to hear different opinions. I’d consider you to be among the pioneers of what Trap Metal is today so I’m extra curious what you think about that.
G: I really don’t care what it’s called, Trap Metal, Scream Rap, Alternative Rap; whatever it is the name doesn’t matter to me. I find that most people bothered by the name were metal heads or were into metal before rap. I’ve been making this genre since it was only called “SoundCloud rap” that was the only name for it. So I just make it because I love it, call it whatever you want it doesn’t bother me. Call it penis rap for all I care.
6. What can we expect from you in 2025? New music, visuals or tours?
G: I’m always dropping every year. Next year expect my new album “Nuckelavee” if it doesn’t come out this year. Expect many shows maybe a tour or two and lots of visuals.
Provide a caption (optional)
7. What are your long term goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years. What about your end game?
G: I don’t have any goals really I just make music because it’s fun, but I hope one day to perform at a festival
8. With an interest in who your influences are, if you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would be on the bill with you?
G: If I could go on tour with anyone I think a really cool bill would be Bones, Suicide Boys, Scarlxrd, City Morgue, Lil Darkie, Omenxiii, Killstation, Gizmo, Mavo, Eddie Fresco
Provide a caption (optional)
9. What is your local music scene like? What are the pros and cons? And where do you see room for improvement?
G: The Music scene where I grew up was non existent, which is why around 2016 a little after I started under the alias gizmo I moved to California with my friend Prohibeo. The scene in the Bay Area was fun and accepting. Where I grew up in Rhode Island the scene has developed since 2016 and it’s growing now! I love to see it.
10. Here at TMA we’re constantly looking for fresh talent and prospective features. If you had to choose 5 artists from your circle to put us on too, who would you choose and why?
G: Listen to Mavo, Eddie Fresco, Ouija Macc, Fukkit
11. In the internet age, there are no safe havens from haters and assholes. How do you overcome haters and negativity? And what advice would you have for entry level artists who are starting to go through the same thing?
G: I’ve tried everything over the years and I’ve learned from my mistakes when dealing with the haters. I’ve made a fool of myself time and time again, it’s not worth it, the haters aren’t worth it. Best thing you can do is ignore and move on, I know it hurts but it shows resilience and builds character. As long as you’re doing something you’re passionate about and you’re having fun just do it. Sometimes the haters make you go viral too, sometimes it can be a good thing.
12. I’m asking you this last so it’s fresh in everyone’s mind when they are done reading. What you got going on? New music? Music videos? Show announcements?
G: working on an album and a couple other projects. eager to drop something soon this 2024 by end of summer early fall. more to come soon
13. As we wrap this up, is there anything else you want to add? And thank you for your time!
G: love you all thank you to anyone who has ever shown an ounce of support
Check out his 4 page spread in our magazine!

American Slang Words you Need to Know in 2020
For many English learners that are planning on studying or working in the U.S, students are often bombarded with many unfamiliar slang words from American TV shows, songs or native-speaker friends. Slang words learning are often excluded from formal English education, yet it helps English learners to understand American popular culture and better communication with their American friends.
Today, we’ll cover the top 10 American popular slang words to ease your communication with English native speakers.
1. Bail/ ditch
Bail and ditch both mean to have to break or cancel the plans with someone. For instance, you have to cancel the plans with your friends due to unfinished school work.
Example
“Sorry friends, I have to bail tonight.”
2. Balling/Ballin’
You may have heard of this term in many American pop songs, such as White Iverson by Post Malon when he said: “When I started ballin’ I was young”. In casual conversation, ballin’ means having a wealthy and luxurious lifestyle.
Example
“Heard you went on vacation in Los Angeles again last week, you are ballin’!”
3. Chill/chill out
Meaning “calm down” on casual occasions.
Example
If your friends are being overly excited at a football game, you can say “Hey man, chill out.”
4. Down to earth
Referring to someone when they are humble, genuine, and easy to get along with.
Example
“I made a new friend at the museum last night, she was super down to earth. I would love to hang out with her again!”
5. GOAT
Not the cute animal, but the acronym for “Greatest Of All Time”. Pronounce exactly like the animal, but GOAT should only be used to talk about someone who truly is the greatest of all time.
Example
“Kobe is the GOAT, may he rest in peace”
6. Slay
It is an informal way of saying being greatly impressed by someone from performing or just doing something well.
Example
“Beyoncé slays in her every performance!”
7. Stan
The word was first found in the song “Stan”, from American rapper Eminem’s album in 2000. Nowadays, it refers to die-hard fans of celebrities.
Example
“Did you watch JLo and Shakira performances at Superbowl last night, I stan for them!”
8. Tea/Here is the tea
It is slang for gossip or hot news circulating the situation. It is often used in terms such as what’s the tea (what’s the new gossip), spill the tea (tell someone about gossip), or just use it as one word referring to the hot news.
Example
“Would you like to spill the tea of your date from last night?”
9. Wack
Different than the traditional definition, wack refers to “boring” or “worse than expectations” in the U.S pop culture.
Example
“How was the movie you watched last night”
“The movie was wack.”
10. What’s good
Equivalent to “what’s up” or “How are you doing”, often used as a causal greeting between friends. When an English speaker asks you that question, you can respond with what you are doing or how you are feeling at the moment.
Example
“What’s good? Haven’t seen you for a while”
“Nothing much, just studying and preparing for the upcoming exams! How about you?”
