I’d imagine bastard!Reader has a much closer relationship with her guard than anyone else in the keep and that includes sharing stories about her life with her mother
I’m imagining her mother had a couple traditions to celebrate birthdays (or namedays as they call them) every year and when her well-ish meaning new family tries to go all out it just completely overwhelms reader so she tries to hide. But her sworn shield finds her and they do the birthday traditions together just the two of them every single year!
I completely agree with the wording of 'well meaning but overwhelming' families reaction to her name day, because it would be exactly like that! 😅
You can imagine the overall festivities that occur every year- Rhaenyra loves to go all out, along with the rest of the family who add more and more to everything. We should have pretty flowers everywhere, Helaena will suggest. We should have a giant feast with guests, suggests Aegon- who's eager for wine and celebration. We should give her many gifts of books and fine jewelry, Aemond will chide in.
Before you know it, the whole day is dedicated to dancing and feasting. The castle is filled with music and laughter and light as everyone enjoys wine and makes merry.
But obviously, it's gotten so over to the top and extravagant, it's... Overwhelming. There are too many people, too many gifts and flowers clogging the corner of her room and the entirety of her bed, and it's like every part of her safe space has been invaded and made a parade of. She just wanted to celebrate her name day the same way she did back at home- a simple, but heartwarming day of simply having little chores to do, and being gifted something like fruit and a toy sewn from cloth that her mother made her. It's all she needed, there was no noise about it- she wasn't shoved in some limelight to be gawked at. To be whispered and gossiped about by high lords and ladies, about how controversial she is for even standing there in her pretty birthday dress.
Her name day feels like it's not even her day anymore, despite the eager and extravagant displays of affection from her new family. They mean well... But it's... Simply too much.
It makes her want to hide behind curtains like a frightened mouse, or squeeze herself beneath her bed to avoid the crowds of people.
Her sword protector however? He listens to her. Abides by what he can recreate to his best abilities, like taking her out for a simple day of buying some fruit in the market whilst under his protection and concealment of her within his cloak, and buying some honeyed cake and eating it messily with sticky fingers in the garden, away from prying and gawking eyes. The day is simple and sweet, just like she remembers. It becomes their little tradition every year.
Even when princess!reader is older, and her knight grows silver with age, he still keeps to his promise.

Christmas Wishes
Summary: When he's not going to be home for Christmas, you fly to Spain to meet him there instead. (Leon S. Kennedy x reader)
Word Count: 1.7K
Notes: Sorry that I'm a day late, my flights got all messed up. So I might be a day late to AEST posting but I'll try to catch up and do a double post somewhere down the line. This deleted half and I couldn't remember the other half so sorry in advance hahaha.
~RiRi <33
━━━━━━━━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It wasn't often that Leon got time off.
He was overseas more than he was home, and his back had gotten used to the feeling of cheap hotel mattresses rather than the one you two shared. The first Christmas together he was in the field, which you couldn't blame him for. He had managed a miracle and made your anniversary, and it was easy enough to fight off your family inviting him to visit for the season. The second, he missed both occasions, and the third he was only back on New Years which left you to face the snide side eyes from your aunts, flicking from you to the empty chair next to you. So finally having enough, you asked where he was going to be this year.
Europe? Okay. You could do that.
Might be late for Christmas? No. Not this year. What country does he pass through?
Spain? Perfect. You'll meet him in Madrid.
With an unceremonious hang up you had booked your tickets, pulling it from the holiday account you both had set up that never got used. You had felt a little anxious about the cost of the tickets and accommodation, but you knew his pay check was more than enough to cover it. However, that feeling went away when you hand was tucked securely in Leon's strong grip, strolling along the stalls in the Mayor's Plaza.
Your hands had been jittering getting off of the plane, a cold sweat creeping down your neck. Getting through customs hadn't been too bad, shuffling along in the expected holiday traffic as people either went on vacation or returning home to their loved ones. Spain wasn't exactly home, but Leon was. That feeling was cemented in your mind when you saw him, rugged up and scarf covering the lower half of his face. He was looking at the arrivals board, those baby blue eyes tired as they flicked over the list of flights. With the instincts only an agent like him could have he turned his neck, locking on to you slowly walking from the arrivals gate. Upon confirmation that it really was Leon, you broke into a light jog and then a sprint. Your chest felt tight as you raced towards him, and there was a comforting burn in your eyes when he opened his arms for you. You collided roughly, but he managed to keep you both stable and wrapped an arm around your waist.
"That happy to see me sweetheart?"
His low murmur fills your ears like warm honey and makes your head cottony, not letting you do anything but breathe in the deep spice of his aftershave. You just hug him tighter, finally able to feel him pressed against you after months of being held overseas. The way he tightened his arms ever so slightly told you all you needed to know; that he didn't mind at all.
You didn't move from that for the next few days, stuck to him. Even now as you wandered the Christmas markets you had tucked yourself securely into his side, his arm over your shoulder to guide you through the throngs of people. He took a sip of the mulled wine, offering you the cup silently. You took it and had a sip, the liquid coating your throat in warmth. "Anything you want to go look at?" you asked quietly, nursing the cup. He cast his eyes down to yours, before looking away pensively. "Not particularly. Just enjoying the atmosphere." he smiled softly. "It's nice."
"It's called the Christmas spirit. You should get into it, it's a nice look on you." You teased, craning up to poke at his cheek. He bats your finger away with a scoff. "Really now?"
"It's our first Christmas together. Of course, it's going to feel more special than usual." you hum, and his eyes soften. He brings you in just a touch closer, sighing out through his nose. "Thanks for being here." he says after a moment. "I…I really am grateful you came this way just for me."
Your breath hitches at the softness in his voice, a chip of pain lacing his tone. "It's always for you." you argue back. "Always will be. you can't shake me that easily. Four years and the rest of forever to go." you say with decisive smile. Leon smiles, crows’ feet at the corners of his eyes crinkling. He removes his arm from around your shoulder, dropping it to lace his gloved hand with your bare fingers and bring your knuckles to his mouth. His lips press against them in a soft kiss, eyes warm.
"Is that an offer, sweetheart?"
after a few more hours of wandering the markets and enjoying the festivities, your feet were starting to get sore. Leon had left you at a food stall to get treats for the both of you, while he went to go do something. You had eyed him suspiciously, casting him a knowing glance when he returned with a flat, black box. You traded him the food, sighing as you waved it in his face. "What's this? It's not Christmas just yet."
He shrugged. "Early enough. Actually, I think I'm just very very very late for three other ones."
you shake your head at the comment but open the box anyways, revealing a beautiful gold necklace on the velvet.
"The vendor over there makes them himself. Helped me pick it out."
It was a stunning, fine gold chain, with a round blue sapphire drop at the end, same colour as his eyes. "Leon," you beam. "It's gorgeous."
he smiles in return, gesturing with his free hand for you to turn around.
Goosebumps raise on your skin as he puts in on, his fingers brushing against the nape of your neck.
"Beautiful," he mutters as he pulls back to look at it on you, before deftly tucking it under your scarf and against your chest. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas." you say back, raising your chin to kiss him. It's a little hard because of your grin, but you can't help yourself. Your heart warms as you place your palm over where it's resting under your clothes, thudding your head on his shoulders as you continue walking. T
You both decide to go home, walking hand in hand back to the hotel. As the music and Christmas lights faded behind you, bells began ringing from somewhere else in the square. you could see the haze that was slowly settling over Leon's eyes, sinking deeper in time with each chime. His lips turned downwards slowly, gaze becoming lost in the dark horizon. You squeeze his hand, trying to bring him back to the present. "You okay?" you ask softly, worry written in your brow. He doesn’t meet your eyes, still locked on the distance.
"there’s somewhere I want to call in."
you're surprised at the conviction in his tone, but you don't protest. "Sure, where?" you tilt your head, swinging your locked hands together. He just nods his head to your right and begins to lead you, until you're out the front of a small yet ornate church. You eye his figure as he walks in.
You had never taken Leon for a religious man, so when he sat in the pews and locked his hands together, you weren't sure if this was your boyfriend or not. You hung silently in the row behind him, letting him do what he needed. There was a weight on his shoulders, more than the one he was used to carrying from the year and years of work. With a few mumbled verses you heard a faint 'Merry Christmas' and then he was done.
There was a mellow look in his eye as he turned to you, a small smile as he thanked you quietly. You took that as an invitation to sit next to him, coming around the pew and placing your hand on his thigh to try and comfort him. "What's up with you?" you ask softly. "You don't go to church, do you?"|
he lets out a dry chuckle and shakes his head. "It's been a while, but I didn't know where else he might hear me." he said softly. He takes a deep breath before exhaling. "Did I ever tell you about Spain?" he asked. You shook your head, making him nod his head along. "I was younger, much younger." he began, staring up at the statue of Jesus at the centre of the room. "I was tasked with finding Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter. It was a rural village, overrun with this parasite and it was-" he grimaces. "Bad."
You return your hand to his, and he squeezes it with a slight tremble.
"There was a man though. I didn't trust him at first. Luis Serra." he smiles softly. "I didn't trust him at first, but he trusted me. He...he didn't make it out." he says with a sad twitch of his lips. "I haven't been back to Spain since."
Your lean onto his shoulder, unsure of how to help other than just being there for him.
"I just guessed a visit was long overdue. Wish him a Merry Christmas and apologise for being late. Both times." He looks to the ground.
"Merry Christmas, Luis." you whisper, making Leon look at you. You just smile softly. "I'm sure he can hear you. Hear us. I just wanted to introduce myself."
He laughs lightly and shakes his head, standing up. "Good thing you two never met, he'd have flirted with you in a second. I would have barely got a word in." he smiles, yet it's still tinged with a bit of sadness. You smile, looping your arm through his.
"I'd still choose you." you hum, eyes gleaming. He smiles wider at that as you turn to walk from the church.
Behind the both of you through the stained-glass window was a star sparkling just a bit brighter than the others, as if it was saying 'Merry Christmas to you too, Sancho.'

Starlight Express but it's a Farmer's and Craft Market au! I've been rotating the idea around in my head for a few days now (and shared it in some servers!) There are a lot of (mostly) friendly rivalries going on between the vendors. They also barter and trade goods amongst each other!
Here's a map of the general layout of the stalls:
The two stalls on the top row directly to the right of Momma and Rusty were empty for a long time until Pearl started vending in the neighboring stall. About a week later, Electra set up shop.
I've also listed the stall types for each character under the cut (if you can't read my chicken scratch lol)!
Rusty and Momma- Your standard homegrown produce, Momma specializes in chicken and duck eggs
Greaseball- Cured meats, jerky, and BBQ sauce. His younger sister steps in to run his stall sometimes >:)
Electra- Spice blends and dried herbs
Pearl- Handcrafted jewelry
Dinah- Baked goods and jams
Buffy and Ashley- Honey, beeswax, and syrup
Carrie- Handmade bags (totes, handbags, coin purses, etc)
Brandi- Homebrewed beer and mead
Tassita- Succulents, stationary, and greeting cards. He also does custom calligraphy
Memphis Belle and Bonnie (Belle Jr.)- Quilts and crocheted crafts. Bonnie specializes in making plushies
Dustin- Polished and painted rocks
Flat Top- Sometimes he makes miniature sculptures out of welded nuts and bolts to sell at Dustin's stall. He's mostly there just to hang out with Dustin and get free jerky samples
Rockies- Pottery and custom mugs
CB- Foraged mushrooms (are they edible? Who knows...)
BV- He runs a shell game where he can rip people off
Slick- Gourmet olive oil
Porter and Lumber- Woodburn art. Lumber also does whittling on the side
Hydra- He's not a vendor, but he really wants to form a partnership with Rusty and show him Hydroponic Gardening
Wrench- Upcycled furniture
Volta and Joule- Soap, bath bombs, and candles
Purse and Krupp- Flowers
Killerwatt- He doesn't have a stall, he assists Electra
Zero- Smoothie stand (in a food truck set-up)
Espresso and Bobo- Wine and cheese (they used to have separate stalls until their rivalry turned into romance)
Coco- Handcrafted jewelry (uh oh, Pearl's got a rival)
Turnov- Knit goods (scarves, mittens, hats, etc.)
Ruhrgold- Artisan bread
Hashamoto- Assorted produce and (edible) mushrooms
Brexit- Fancy tea blends
#not to toot my own horn but i think this au is very cute and cozy :)#please feel free to send asks if you want to know more!!#starlight express#stex aus#stex farmers market au#stex craft market au

They are doing a painting date night. Wine bottle is open, paintbrushes scattered around the table, they each have their own water cup that now has a strange color from all the mixed paint. The new vinyl they got today is filling the space with warm sounds.
James and Regulus spent a sunny Sunday together, out and about. You know those day where you don’t really have to do anything but the weather is so good you come up with special errands to run or go to places you would not really get to go if you were busy. That’s how they end up in Sunday Market Extravaganza this morning, getting everything from fancy pickles to rings and handcrafted elf ears for Reggie. And then terrace lunch and walk through the park followed by shopping spree at arts&crafts shop for their impromptu painting night date. That is how they are finishing their already lovely Sunday with small molberts in front of them, wine glass in one hand and paint brush in the other.
The objective of the night is to paint each other. Regulus will paint James and it will turn out amazing and beautiful and museum worthy as James describes and James will try to paint Regulus as he really tries to not mess up but “honestly even I can’t mess up Reggies beautiful face”.
Regulus was a bit skeptical, he really likes painting but it is his alone time activity, he doesn’t really like to share the process or the product. But seeing James focusing with his tongue slightly out and brows furrowed is convincing him that sometimes saying yes to things you don’t want is good because my god James looks really adorable.
Regulus has studied James’s face, like he doesn’t even need to look at him to paint him, but every chance he gets to really look at the love of his life’s face he takes it all in. The messy curls dancing with every little head turn, smile lines around his eyes because he really does smile with the most beautiful and the biggest smile ever. Lopsided grin and jawline that could kill a man. So he is sitting there staring and painting and staring and painting and he is so so pleased.
It’s really everything Regulus loves. Days spent slowly, holding James’s arm, talking and walking and just existing submerged by warmth and love. He knows how lucky he is and feels how truly happy he is, sitting here in his home full with comfort and hugs, shared secrets of the dark, midnight snacks and morning sex and he is giddy with the feeling, he smiles at the thought that he is sitting there with his elf ears and paintbrush in his hand and he has never felt more loved or at peace and oh life is so worth living like this.
“Reggie to Earth” James’s honey coated voice pulls him down from the clouds of happiness, “Are you finished?”
“Umm..I think so” Regulus is looking at his painting, “Are you done?”
“Yes it’s done, it’s the best it can get I am afraid and if I do more I’ll just ruin it.” James is focusing back to his painting. “Show me yours please”
Regulus holds his painting up and takes a picture of it and James’s face side by side. They look identical, warm eyes and grin and everything. Regulus chuckles, he is pleased with his skills and turns the painting around to show it to James.
“Oh my god love, this is amazing” James’s eyes tear up in seconds. “I love this so much, I love you, oh this is going straight to my parents they will love it” he smiles at Regulus.
“Go on show me yours” Regulus interrupts the string of compliments eager to see how James did.
James takes a breath in and slowly turns his painting around. Only it’s not a painting, it has words on it, carefully written with love hearts around it. And suddenly Regulus’s breath hitches because his brain registers what the words say and he is looking at James on his knee and back at the painting and back at the most beautiful ring he has ever seen and oh my god he is crying.
He is crying because James is saying how much he loves Regulus and how he can not wait for another week to start without being engaged with him and how he is so beautiful and so lucky to have him and he is saying Regulus’s full name and asking the question and oh my god Regulus will marry James!
If you’ve ever seen the night sky on new years illuminated with sudden bursts of thousand fireworks you know how Regulus feels. He is full of love and fireworks of happiness are going off in his whole being.
He jumps up from his seat and cries “Yes”, the best word he has ever said, to James and hugs him with full force.
The ring is beautiful, he is hugging his now fiancee, who to nobody’s surprise is sobbing happiness tears and he oh my god is still wearing the ridiculous elf ears and sweatpants and he is engaged to the love of his life like this and it’s ridiculous and so happy. Happiest, in the arms of his forever love and a beautiful, beautiful ring on his finger.
Heavily inspired by this tiktok

Chapter VII. Fifth Period. — Police, Or Taxation.
In positing its principles humanity, as if in obedience to a sovereign order, never goes backward. Like the traveller who by oblique windings rises from the depth of the valley to the mountain-top, it follows intrepidly its zigzag road, and marches to its goal with confident step, without repentance and without pause. Arriving at the angle of monopoly, the social genius casts backward a melancholy glance, and, in a moment of profound reflection, says to itself:
“Monopoly has stripped the poor hireling of everything, — bread, clothing, home, education, liberty, and security. I will lay a tax upon the monopolist; at this price I will save him his privilege.
“Land and mines, woods and waters, the original domain of man, are forbidden to the proletaire. I will intervene in their exploitation, I will have my share of the products, and land monopoly shall be respected.
“Industry has fallen into feudalism, but I am the suzerain. The lords shall pay me tribute, and they shall keep the profit of their capital.
“Commerce levies usurious profits on the consumer. I will strew its road with toll-gates, I will stamp its checks and indorse its invoices, and it shall pass.
“Capital has overcome labor by intelligence. I will open schools, and the laborer, made intelligent himself, shall become a capitalist in his turn.
“Products lack circulation, and social life is cramped. I will build roads, bridges, canals, marts, theatres, and temples, and thus furnish at one stroke work, wealth, and a market.
“The rich man lives in plenty, while the workman weeps in famine. I will establish taxes on bread, wine, meat, salt, and honey, on articles of necessity and on objects of value, and these shall supply alms for my poor.
“And I will set guards over the waters, the woods, the fields, the mines, and the roads; I will send collectors to gather the taxes and teachers to instruct the children; I will have an army to put down refractory subjects, courts to judge them, prisons to punish them, and priests to curse them. All these offices shall be given to the proletariat and paid by the monopolists.
“Such is my certain and efficacious will.”
We have to prove that society could neither think better nor act worse: this will be the subject of a review which, I hope, will throw new light upon the social problem.
Every measure of general police, every administrative and commercial regulation, like every law of taxation, is at bottom but one of the innumerable articles of this ancient bargain, ever violated and ever renewed, between the patriciate and the proletariat. That the parties or their representatives knew nothing of it, or even that they frequently viewed their political constitutions from another standpoint, is of little consequence to us: not to the man, legislator, or prince do we look for the meaning of his acts, but to the acts themselves.

Fenn Luxure x MC (Retsuko) final part
“Wonderful!” Fenn’s expression instantly turned to a grin, and he summoned a chair for Retsuko to comfortably sit across from him. “Letty has procured some sweet Luxurean wine, and I have supplemented it with shashlik, Qelsan cherry tarts, Invidian honey-glazed fruits, and a little bit of Avarian spiced swordfish. Quite the spread, wouldn’t you say, Treasure?”
Retsuko nodded hesitantly. Fenn really did intend on sharing a meal with her, and here she had believed he was just trying to convince her into his bed. Perhaps it was a little mean of her to immediately assume he had ulterior motives, but it was Fenn she was talking about.
“Come, now, Treasure! Let me feed you!” Fenn trills happily, picking up a tart and holding it up to Retsuko’s mouth with the intention of hand-feeding her. “These treats are too good not to be shared, as it happens.”
She plucks it from his fingers instead, opting to feed herself instead. “Um, I’ll eat it myself, thanks.”
“Oh, Treasure, you really are no fun.” The Luxurean prince pouts, “And here I was thinking you did not hate me. Ah, well, what can I do to convince you that I do so adore you, Treasure-”
Retsuko purses her lips into a tight line and gives Fenn a searching look before taking a bite of the pastry in her hands. “Aren’t you going to eat too, Fenn?”
Fenn picks up the bottle of wine and uncorks it with magic, pouring himself a glass and swirling it with the stem in his long fingers. “But of course. After all, this wine is only the best on the market. It is both sweet and savory, and a little bit dry, too- wouldn't you say that it is a perfect match for the meats? Would you care for a glass, Treasure?”
Retsuko hesitantly nods, watching Fenn summon another wine glass and carefully pour some of the sapphire-colored liquid into it, handing it to her to taste. As soon as the flavor hit her tongue, her eyes widened. “I think this might be the best wine I’ve ever had. It comes from Luxure, you say?”
“Quite right.” Fenn agrees, picking up the bottle to examine the label. “It is made through a particularly long process over the course of 90 years. This gives the flavors time to cultivate with one another and age to perfection. I would say it is one of the finer things that comes from Luxure.”
“Rio had me try something like it once, but I think it came from Avari. He said Jasper gave him a bottle and we had it together the other night.” she replies thoughtfully, staring into the glass and watching the liquid swill in pretty waves of crystalline blue.
Fenn’s smile vanished to give way to a somewhat serious expression, his eyes hardening as she talked. “Rio, you say? I wonder about that.”
“Yes, why?” Retsuko looked up, clearly quite mystified.
“You talk about Rio very much, Treasure. One wonders if you are intent on becoming his paramour.” His amethyst eyes zero in on her expression, trying to glean meaning from her reaction to his speculation. Fenn’s voice was pitched very low, almost like a growl, as he watched the object of his affections.
“What?!” she squeaks, her face immediately flushing a dark shade of pink. “Where would you ever get that idea, Fenn?! That’s- well- it's- ridiculous! Me and Rio??!”
“I have had quite enough of this talk of other men during our time together, Treasure.” Fenn sets his wine down on the table and fixes Retsuko with a grave stare, almost pinning her in place with his eyes alone. “I am going to speak quite plainly now, and I wish for you to hear what I am saying to you.”
Every bone in his body is fixed in place like a stone as he stares her down. There is no lie or fabrication present in his gaze.
“I have tried time and again to catch your fancy, and every time you slip away from me. I would hear your honest answer as to why this is. I have ceased entertaining any other woman with my presence and obtained advice from Letty and Princess Sherry on how to convey this to you. Yet, every time I so much as invite you to be in my presence for a while, you deny me. Is this because you have come to loathe me?”
“L-loathe you? Fenn, I- I could never!” Retsuko stuttered, almost dropping her wine glass. Her fingers had gone shaky as she stared at Fenn in disbelief. “I-it was just- I-”
“If you do not wish to be around me, simply say so. That way, you may have your peace and there will be no more misunderstandings.” Fenn’s eyes seemed to bore through her as she visibly wilted.
“Fenn- no! I... I only refused to go on dates with you because I didn’t want to just end up as one of your playthings.” She admits at the volume of barely above a whisper. “I wanted to be special to you, but I lost hope of that ever happening because you spend your time with so many other women and I.... I just wanted to have you to myself.”
“Treasure- wait. What?” Fenn started to say, then stopped himself as he realized what she’d just whispered. His eyes lost all the stoniness they held before to give way to a wonderous expression of astonishment. “All to... yourself? Do you mean to say that you hold me special in your eyes, my treasure?”
Retsuko hung her head and nodded, too embarrassed to look the prince in the eye.
“Ahah! How wonderful!” Fenn started to laugh, clearly pleased with the unforeseen turn of events. “I wish this too, in fact. I believe I have said many times that I simply adore you, treasure. Did you not believe me?”
“Fenn... Nearly everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie.” Retsuko huffed, crossing her arms. “How was I to distinguish the truth from the lies when you talk like that to almost everyone at this academy??”
“How you do wound me, treasure.” the prince sighs, crossing his legs. “Didn’t I say that I have already ceased entertaining these women simply to pursue you? This is no lie. You see, I do not need fabrications or lies when it comes to you. For you, treasure, I will commit myself to one woman only, and that is to be you.”
“To be..... me?” she repeats, looking up at Fenn with wide crimson eyes.
“Oh, yes, treasure.” Fenn purrs, leaning forward across the table between them and tilting her chin upwards with his long fingers so that she looked him in the eyes. “But I want to hear those special words of affection from your mouth. It would not do to confess my feelings so ardently and not hear a response from my beloved, after all.”
He grasps her chin gently and pulls her face closer, waiting for her to open her mouth to tell him what he longed to hear.
“F-Fenn, I love y-”
As soon as the words fell out of her mouth, he pulled her chin forward and kissed her hard. The warmth he felt in his chest spread to his whole body and it became all he could focus on as he gently pulled her around the table and into his waiting arms. He had never experienced this light and wonderfully happy feeling before, and it completely consumed him.
Retsuko seemed to sink into Fenn’s chest, settling with her head against him and her hand slipping into his to hold.
“Treasure, I have said it before, but it didn’t seem to sink in, so I’ll say it again. I adore you.”

OMG, Your Marketing is SOOO Basic! Here’s How to Glow Up Your Brand, Bestie! 🚀💅
Hey bestie! 👋 Is your marketing as dry as last season’s memes? Are you still using those “classic” strategies like it’s 2010? 💀 Stop. Right. There. You deserve a marketing glow-up that’s hotter than your fave influencer’s latest collab drop. Let’s get you out of that marketing rut faster than you can say “algorithm change.” 😉
Step 1: Stop Ghosting Your Audience, Seriously! 👻
Babe, your audience is NOT your ex. Stop ghosting them with once-a-month posts and expecting them to care. That’s not how you build a squad! Consistency is key—post like it’s your job (because, umm, it kinda is?). Whether it’s TikTok dances, Insta Stories, or those random Twitter rants, just BE THERE. Show up and glow up, bestie!
Step 2: SEO Isn’t a Scary Monster Under Your Bed 🛌
SEO is not just for nerds who wear glasses and say things like “backlinks.” It’s literally your best friend that helps you get found online! Want that sweet, sweet organic traffic? You gotta flirt with Google, baby! Think keywords, think headlines that scream “CLICK ME,” think getting in bed with analytics. (Not literally. Unless you’re into that? No judgment.)
Step 3: Influencers Are Your New BFFs 👯♀️✨
So you think you don’t need influencers? That’s cute. But let’s be real: they’re basically the cool kids of the internet, and you NEED them at your lunch table. Slide into those DMs and collab your way to the top! Micro, macro, nano—you don’t need Kylie Jenner money to make it happen. Even that local fashionista with 10K followers could be your ticket to brand heaven.
Step 4: SMM Like You Mean It, Boo 📱❤️
Social Media Marketing isn’t just about posting random pics of your office dog (although, like, please do). It’s about turning your feed into the ultimate party everyone wants an invite to. You’re not just selling products, honey—you’re selling a vibe, a lifestyle, a whole dang mood. Engage, interact, and sprinkle emojis like they’re confetti at a TikTok party. 🎉
Step 5: PPC—Pretty Please Click 💸🤑
PPC is the thirsty attention-seeker you actually want around. Pay-Per-Click ads are like that friend who always gets into VIP—instant access and instant results. Whether it’s Google Ads, Facebook Ads, or some random platform the Gen Z kids are using, make sure you’re throwing your dollars where they can flex the hardest. Invest in PPC, because organic reach is as flaky as your last situationship.
Step 6: Be Real, Be Relatable, Be Ridiculous 🥳🤣
People love brands that have personality—so stop being boring! Share your fails, your weird behind-the-scenes moments, and that awkward time your CEO tried to do the latest TikTok challenge (spoiler: it was cringe, but everyone loved it). The internet loves authenticity. So, ditch the corporate speak and talk like you’re texting your BFF at 2 AM after three glasses of wine.
TL;DR: Stop Being Lame and Start Marketing Like a Boss 💅🔥
Marketing is not rocket science, but it IS a vibe. It’s a whole aesthetic. So, if your marketing strategy still smells like teen spirit (aka old and dusty), it’s time for a major glow-up. Get weird, get wild, and get those clicks, queen! The world is your content canvas, so paint it with memes, sass, and a little bit of marketing magic.
Now go out there and make the internet your playground. You got this, bestie! ✨🚀

i’d be the mayor
1.
we were going to find a town where they let us hold hands in the grocery store.
even though our bodies were more or less the same
and i’d become mayor and you mayor’s first lady
so we could finally make the rules.
but you knew you were better off with somebody with a different body, somebody a little taller, with bigger hands, hands that you could hold in a grocery store anywhere.
2.
wine makes me talk so i down it like medicine.
tell me about the dream where everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
you took my hand and pointed to the sky. you said, “that is love.”
we’re in the neighborhood where we used to knock on doors but now we live in a run down little white house we call home. we walk to the farmers market for things that are sweet like honey and strawberry jam. our yard is overgrown, bordered by a rusty white fence and we shared a loaf of bread there. we were wearing white dresses and it was only because we wanted to. our hair remained unbrushed and our home mirrorless. we did everything we could never do.
we woke up, bodies entangled in your teenage bedroom,
i hear the door creak open.
3.
i reached for your hand at the party
but you never took it.
how much longer can we hide from the eyes of the believers?
i am the worst heathen there is. i found god in gay love.
as i read these pages, none of it seems nearly as important as us.
i can feel us being eulogized every time we touch.
someone, somewhere is reading this.
4.
where we come from, wanting is an act of violence in itself.
i should’ve never told you. i’m sorry we loved. i wipe my blood off your cheek.
we drop our knives. take his hand.
look at me. one last time.
we didn't do anything wrong.

Harvest Day/Day of Grapes and Grains
The Day of Grapes and Grains, also known as the Harvest Festival, celebrates the beginning of the harvest season in Sol Fertilis.
Farmers prepare their best produce for the festival in the morning. They arrange baskets and crates filled with freshly harvested fruits, vegetables, and grains, which are often displayed at local markets or designated areas in the town square. In both Neo-Pagan and Catholic counties, Beta Neutral farmers play a role in the religious or spiritual aspects of the day. They bring offerings from their harvest, such as wheat sheaves, fruits, and vegetables, to place on altars or in front of churches. On this day, alewives play a significant role in the celebrations by giving away wine to all ranks in churches.
Festival shows include theatrical performances by local theater groups that celebrate the harvest and local legends, as well as concerts featuring traditional and contemporary music. Barbecues and picnics are common, with families enjoying grilled meats, fresh salads, and homemade desserts. Larger community picnics are organized in parks, with communal tables and shared dishes. Traditional folk dances, circle dances, and line dances are performed, inviting everyone to join in. Evening dance parties with live music take place in public squares and parks, extending the celebrations into the night.
Religious and spiritual observances play a significant role in the Harvest Festival. Churches hold special services to bless the harvest and pray for a bountiful season, with attendees bringing offerings of grains, fruits, and vegetables to place on the altar.
In Neo-Pagan communities, rituals involving the symbolic sacrifice of crops or animals are performed to honor Ceres Gaia and ensure a successful harvest. Incense is burned, and prayers are recited to give thanks for the abundance and seek protection for the coming months. The rituals involving the symbolic sacrifice of crops or animals are performed to honor the gods and ensure a successful harvest. Attendees bring offerings of grains, fruits, and vegetables to place on the altar.
Crafts and arts are an integral part of the festival. Participants engage in harvest crafts like making crowns and garlands from wheat, flowers, and grapevines to wear during the festivities. Families and communities build scarecrows to protect their crops, often holding contests for the most creative scarecrow. Art exhibitions featuring local artists' works that depict harvest themes are held in galleries and public spaces, while craft fairs offer handmade goods such as pottery, textiles, and jewelry inspired by the harvest season.
Couples engage in handfasting ceremonies, a symbolic act of unity and commitment, performed in parks or gardens. All ranks perform this but the middle ranks, which are Beta Pluses and Delta Minuses, are often seen doing this more.
Special foods and drinks are enjoyed throughout the Harvest Festival. Traditional meals include roast meats such as lamb, pork, and chicken, served with seasonal vegetables. Grain-based dishes like various bread, pasta, and grain salads are prepared using freshly harvested ingredients. Desserts such as fruit pies made from apples, berries, and other seasonal fruits, along with honey cakes and sweet breads flavored with spices and dried fruits, are popular. Drinks include local wines and beers brewed from the harvest, and freshly pressed grape, apple, and pear juices are served, particularly to children.
Towards the end of the meal, there are final toasts. In Neo-Pagan counties, the toasts may involve traditional toasts to the gods and goddesses of harvest and fertility, such as Ceres Gaia, Venus Bellona, and Mars Sol. In Catholic counties, toasts might be directed toward the saints, or God, thanking them for the blessings of the harvest. Alewives and other key figures often lead these toasts, sharing words of gratitude and hope for the future.
Following the feast, a large bonfire is lit in a central location. This fire symbolizes the burning away of the old season's remnants and the welcoming of a new cycle. Around the bonfire, people gather to sing traditional songs, dance, and share stories. The music often includes a mix of folk tunes and contemporary favorites, played on traditional instruments like lutes, flutes, and drums, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere.
A priest may give a final blessing or prayer, asking for continued prosperity and protection over the community and its land. In Neo-Pagan traditions, this may involve a ritual offering to the gods, while in Catholic areas, it could include a collective prayer or hymn.

Rosé Wine Day
It’s lighter than a rich red, but still maintains ample flavor of the skin of grape. Gather some friends and family and have a rosé wine tasting party.
If you’re a fan of wine, you’re sure to know that a Red Wine is one that takes a great deal of its color from the grapes, whereas a white wine contains only elements from the juice of the grape itself. But what is this mysterious rosé wine we often hear about? Rosé Wine Day is your chance to learn the difference and just how fantastic the result is. Want it? Rosé wine is the wine that contains only some of the color of the grape skins but lacks the rich and robust color of red wine.
Learn about Rosé Wine Day
Most people would probably agree that the best way to learn about Rosé Wine Day is to crack open a bottle! But before the wine gets into your system, let us tell you a little bit more about this delicious drink. Rosé Wine Day is the perfect excuse for fans of Rosé to not only enjoy a glass of their favorite wine but to unite with others who enjoy the drink as well. You can make recommendations regarding your favorite types of Rosé, as well as sharing Rosé cocktail recipes and such like. It’s a day of sheer enjoyment and celebration. What’s not to like?
There are many different techniques that are used to make delicious Rosé wine. One of the most popular approaches involves red grape varieties being pressed early; typically only around 12-24 hours after maceration. During the process of maceration, phenolics, such as tannins and anthocyanins, which contribute a lot of flavor and color components that are leached from the stems, seeds, and skins that are left in contact with the must.
Most red wines will have a maceration that lasts at least several days. In some cases, this process can last as long as several weeks. With Rosé, the maceration period is very limited, and that is the key difference. This is why the color is less stable, and it is also why a lot of the Rosés on the market have been designed so that they are consumed soon after release. Of course, this is just one technique when it comes to making Rosé, yet it is undoubtedly the most popular one.
History of Rosé Wine Day
Bodvár – House of Rosés is believed to have started Rosé Wine Day. The purpose of this was to raise awareness of this type of wine, and to give those who enjoy it a day to celebrate together. To understand a little bit more about the history of Rosé Wine Day, it helps to understand the history of the wine itself.
Wine, as you may know, has been a part of human history for a respectably long time, and throughout its history, it has come to include many different vintages and techniques related to its creation. Among those wines, we have the iconic Champagne, Red Wines, White Wines, Port Wines, Mead (Which is technically a Honey Wine), and of course Rosé wine. Interestingly it’s likely that the further you go back in the history of Red Wines, the more like the new Rosé Wine they were, due to the difference in wine press technology of the time.
This is because a lot of the winemaking techniques that are used to make the more tannic and darker red wines that we see today were not practiced in ancient wine making. Instead, white and red wine grapes were pressed quickly after the harvest – with very little time for maceration. This was done by feet, hand, or even sack cloth. The result was a juice that was only very slightly pigmented.
One of the most beautiful phrases one may hear used in reference to Rosé Wines is the term “Vin D’une Nuit,” a French Term which means “Wine of One Night.” This term references the practice of leaving the wine base in contact with the skin for only a single night, producing the light blush commonly seen in these wines.
In the years following World War II, however, Rosé Wine would begin to explode into the world’s consciousness as a Portuguese Wine Producer started releasing wines of this make that became much desired and something of a world standard. Want to know more? Research these wines as part of your Rosé Wine Day celebration!
How to celebrate Rosé Wine Day
This is easily one of the most enjoyable and distinguished of all these events to celebrate. All you need to do is visit your local vintner or wine dealer and ask them for their best Rosé Wine! Be prepared to be presented with quite a selection as they trot out their finest still and sparkling Rosé Wines for your perusal. If you’ve never enjoyed a glass of this classic style of wine, you’re going to be in for quite a treat and will find a new tradition to celebrate Rosé Wine Day.
Another way to celebrate Rosé Wine Day is to gather some of your loved ones and host a wine-tasting session. You can source an array of different Rosé wines and get people to give their verdict, ranking the wines from 1 to 10 based on how much they like them. You can also have fun matching different foods with the Rosé wines you serve. There are plenty of great resources online that can help you to understand how to pair Rosé wine with food correctly.

Les amis de mes amis…
I'm not a big fan of proverbs, because every time I hear one, it doesn´t fit the situation. In the case of friends of my friends are my friends too, sometimes the opportunities to meet new people are cool, but up to a point. It's good to have a spirit of social adventure. You get to know new places, to have new drinks, listen to different music, and have conversations that you wouldn't have had in your life if you hadn't hung out with those people.
Diving trips with friends of friends can become a suspense thriller movie, between the fact that you don't know the diving center and that there are diving areas where people leave without fauna and flora from early in the morning (in some countries), you don't get to see much sea life, but you do meet people, for instance, local retirees, and you can also eat paella on any restaurant around if you want. Once I went out with some friends of a friend that I met on that diving trip and I ended up on a terrace in an area that I would never have stepped in otherwise, watching a trailer for a movie with virtual reality glasses. I ended up feeling much dizzier than if I had had two glasses of wine and my head was spinning like Regan (0), and the thing is, when you hang out with very different people, hobbies are also likewise, oh well.
Another time I remember going out with another group of a friend´s friend who knew a cousin of mine (people in the end), who were very nice and liked music too. We went to an underground alternative music concert (I think the singer needed a few honey sweets for his throat, he sounded hoarse). And after eating something we went to a disco pub, honestly I wouldn’t know how to go back there; I think it was placed in an area of the city where the streets have no name (1). Although the music was cool, the atmosphere was still quite strange, going out with people younger than you open doors for you, especially to the most chic and hidden clubs and of the moment.
The interesting thing about dating different people is that you realize that the music and places may change, but the flirting techniques and courtship dances like the jumping crane and other night scenes never go out of style, the flirting rituals are very similar no matter the age of the interested parties. Sometimes you find yourself in a strange conversation, like the honeymoon of the man you are talking to, who is divorced, but who tells you very excitedly that he went to Finland in the middle of December on a honeymoon trip. That they went on a dog sled trip, because it was her dream, and that he lost her on the first curve because she hadn't held on to the handlebars of the sled properly. Some people want to collect the insurance soon, no wonder she got divorced after five years, poor thing. Other times, you find yourself talking to an orthodontist, who ends up showing you on his cell phone how one of his clients had a tomato seed germinated between his teeth and gum and a tiny plant had sprouted inside his mouth. Anyway, hygiene is always good…
Sometimes going to watch a game at someone's house with an unknown group of people gives you new social horizons, like going to somebody's house who is sharing a house with other 14 people in two merged chalets rented by rooms and where the hustle and bustle of people is similar to that of a metro hub station in any big city. My social curiosity kept me there for quite a while, so much that I ended up making friends, and they invited me to their BBQs where you could see improvised amateur juggling shows with lunchacos and other gadgets. At one of those BBQs I ended up talking to some friends of someone from the house, very sociable German people with a very communal vision of intercultural coexistence and fond of Straßenmarkt (street markets). After what all the people who lived in those houses and their friends told me, I realized that without good organization like theirs (they had a schedule to clean the house in turns and another for the kitchen stuff cleaning, which I thought was quite cool as well as the implicit respect to each other that comes from complying with it), you won't get very far and your coexistence with others won't be good either. I thought that these room rentals-flats were for when you are a student, but most of them had their works and had their own independent life. I guess you can stretch out your budget further this way.
I remember when I was a student and I was invited to the beach house of someone’s parents who of course weren’t there and the whole trip became an adventure. In those days you don’t have a car, this friend was a goldmine; “Thanks for the invitation” I told him, but “how do we get there?”, “Ah well I´ll borrow my uncle´s car, he doesn’t use it, we’ll fill up the tank before we leave and that’s it” he said. Ok I thought, nice and easy! The car was a 20-year-old Volkswagen Corrado with no air conditioning and questionable maintenance. The day we left, while he was filling up the tank, I went to the gas station shop and bought some chocolate donuts and other goodies for the trip. During the trip, I don’t know how, the petrol ended up mixed with the engine oil, so we went doing “Fumata Blanca” with white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe all over the highway until we reached the appartment… “Great, I thought, the highway police are going to stop us and on top of that the air conditioning doesn’t work”. Surprisingly, they didn’t stop us, but the donuts I had bought and left in the glove compartment of the car to eat later were completely melted when I went to get them, there was no way to eat that with dignity at all. Low-cost trips when you are a student have these setbacks. Problems go away when you arrive at your destination and the very next day you see the sea, you get a sea bath, a nice sun tan, maybe play a game of beach volley with the high risk of knocking down retired grandpas seated nearby the game field after a strike or even worse, you run the risk of them joining you in the game when you hear “do you need one more?” in the most handsome James Bond´s style, there are a lot of hormonal grandpas on the beaches, you have to be careful, they will leave you behind at the end. Yes, muscled grandpas are a dangerous species day and night. You have to note that there are retired grandpas who go out to flirt like Casanovas at night in coastal areas and who also play beach sports during the day in a quite accurate Venice Beach style. I wonder what they have for breakfast but I am afraid to ask.
Also, going on a weekend with friends of friends is part adventure movie and part horror movie at the same time. You don't really know how you're going to wake up the next day. But it's fun, getting up first and seeing the consequences of having had an endless barbecue at somebody`s house. Suddenly you start to find glasses that betray the night's activity, people you don't remember asleep on the sofa, or you go to the kitchen wishing somebody had made coffee, but what you find is a pile of pots, trays and plates full of the culinary crime of the previous two days, and no coffee trace at all.
Sometimes you get invited to a full moon summer barbecue by somebody and you end up in someone else's attic drinking shots of Queimada (2) and listening to incredible conversations about spirits, witches and werewolves in the middle of your city... on your way back home you feel happy to have a nourishing job where to return at the following Monday. Imagination runs wild with heated brandy and sugar beverages.
Another Queimada that I remember was a Samhain (3) themed Halloween party on someone else's farm. It wouldn't burn even with a flamethrower because we did it outdoors in the middle of the forest and we had to increase over and over the amount of brandy and sugar to keep it burning because of the cold. And all of this happened while we were dressed up as elves, ladies of the forest and goblins and a group of amateur elves-bagpipers were entertaining us and the woods inhabitants while we trying to lit the Queimada. What a spectacle! I think the animals (and the trees) in the area moved onto another woods after that night.
Other adventures you can experience on a Halloween night with friends of friends consist on going out to parties with people you don't know at all and where they hand you strange candy shaped as soon as you walk through the door and you end up going for a drink a few minutes later hugging everyone as if you were a Troll (4). Watch out for candies handed over to you as you enter any Halloween party, it can be dangerous.
Other parties are those where you end up at someone's summer house because it's the birthday of another friend's friend who's in the sports club - I honestly can't remember the name of the club - in a lost village up in the mountains more than 100 km away from your house. So you end up singing the strangest songs in a karaoke with technology from almost two centuries ago and trying once again sweets sweetened with secret ingredients that make you end up flying while you hold on to the chair you're sitting on just like everyone else around that table, trying to sing Happy Birthday while you wonder what ingredients those macaroons did exactly had. Well, no one told me. I felt awfully dizzy for hours. I shall name those macarrons Fly Me to the Moon (5) macarrons from now on.
On the other hand, there are other times when you go to have a drink in the mountains, to see someone who lives there and who you already know, a colleague in this case, and you may end up making interesting discoveries, human, oenological and gastronomical all at once, that´s what I call a three in one discovery. That is where I was able to try one of the richest wines I have ever tasted in my life. Sometimes there are simpler and more earthly surprises in my opinion; well that goes in tastes, doesn´t it?
Sometimes, going out for tapas has the risk of being out for tapas on a Sunday from 1pm to 1am, in an involuntary tapa marathon style. So you end up talking to someone for hours and hours and before you realize, the next day you have to get up early and you're far away from your car, so the gentleman you've been chatting with about hobbies for the last four hours ends up giving you a lift to your car in his car. Well, I didn't get a date, but he did give me a lift to my car in his brand new black Porsche.
Hen parties are great opportunities to make new friends, especially when you're the groom's party and you have to organize part of the event and get together with people you don't know at all, but who turn out to be lovely. The festive atmosphere of that type of parties always helps.
One of the most fun bachelor parties I have ever been started at a remote spa with some of the best hot springs around and a lot of very old people in it. One of the bride's friends said as we walked in "we've just lowered the average age by at least 35 years" and yes, she was right. We bribed one of the physios to put on some Superman shorts under his brand new white work suit and get into the pool of healing waters with our friend to give her a massage, it couldn't have gone better. Furthermore, we almost all came out of these thermal waters ten years younger. Not even in Cocoon (6) was this seen.
A few hours later, at the hotel, while getting ready for dinner at a local grill, we were almost all in the room dressing up as a group when there was a knock at the door. I opened the door and suddenly I found myself pushed by a young man wearing only a red sequin thong and a face of embarrassment like few I have ever seen. I pulled myself together trying to hide my laughter and asked him “are you getting married, right?” He replied “yes, I am getting married.” The poor guy didn’t know where to go, we were all dressed the same except for the bride and him almost naked, covering himself with his hands and with his butt against the wall (the truth is that since he was dressed up like that, he could have performed a striptease for us, but it didn’t occur to him, he was too nervous). I offered him a large hotel towel in case he didn’t want to leave the room like that, but he was brave and left the room the same way he came in after saying goodbye cordially.
During dinner, I was in charge of fulfilling my only objective that night, getting the bride drunk, whom I strategically placed in front of myself, and we achieved it twice as much, because her sister, who was overweight, drank half of what I served the bride, so we achieved an optimal result, 2 drunken ladies for for 1.
Then we went dancing and had a few drinks and we met up the guy in the red thong and all his friends. While we were there enjoying, I could to observe more bachelor parties and I noticed a man who was dressed up in a very tight woman wedding suit handcuffed to a dwarf actor in his right hand, I went over to talk to them. The “groom” could barely breathe because of how tight the suit was and the actor was a charmer, well he was working anyway but he was nice and danced awfully well. “You can’t go around playing practical jokes on everyone, then you get married and you have to go through this” the guy in the wedding suit told me, I answered him, “well, it’s true that the format in which you’re going to get paid or invoiced for what you’ve done is always unexpected, just enjoy!”, I said to him, looking at the actor while the three of us were laughing.
At another bachelorette party, I was also on the groom’s side and I got to meet her friends, who were very nice and very funny as well. We celebrated at a Mexican restaurant, and everything was going well until someone put a work helmet on some of us, gave us salt to eat followed by a shot of tequila, accompanied by a wonderful kiss from a very handsome and charming waiter… after the pleasant shock, I looked at him and said, “Hey, she’s the one getting married, not me!,” while I pointed at her and saw how all the bride’s friends were dying of laughter at the look on my face. The waiter looked at me like, “Yeah, but they told me to give you the tequila kiss to you.” Sometimes you don’t know where jokes are going to come out, it’s true, well, and I got a wonderful Mexican kiss that night that´s all I remember from that night honestly.
At another mixed farewell, someone came up with the idea of celebrating it in an erotic restaurant. The atmosphere in these places is curious because the bread is shaped in male attributes if you are a woman and breasts if you are a man and it even makes you feel awkward to start nibbling on bread before they bring you the food, yes, weird. The names of the dishes did not make it very clear what exactly you were going to eat, but, since we did a mixed farewell and there was already somebody who had been there, we ordered a tasting menu for starters and everything was sorted out nicely.
Between the second course and while they were bringing us dessert, two strippers appeared, a woman and a man, each wrapped up in a flag. I was lucky enough, I still don't know if it was good or bad, to be close to the aisle where the man walked while dancing. The dance consisted of waving flags around, slightly covered with the fabric of the flag, allowing his wonderful masculine gentleness to be seen... you can imagine that I don't even know what dessert I ordered... in fact I don't know if I finished the dessert at all, I was pretty shocked.
Meeting friends on Christmas day is also an occasion where you can meet interesting people. From the last meetings I remember this one with some work colleagues and a lot of other people that came after. What I remember of that day, is eating until bursting in a German restaurant and having a drink afterwards. That night I only wanted a beer, so when I asked for the second pitcher, someone handed it over to me and said here you have. But it smelled strange, I looked at the bartender and he pointed to the bottle of Jaggermaster, I looked inside the beer jug and I saw it had a shot of Jaggermaster in it. I told them, “this tastes like syrup”, well, he didn't want to change it so I finished the party dancing until the lights of the bar went out completely and they swept us out of the place. I get seriously affected by energetic beverages, I guess I´m not in the need of that sort of things.
There are some things you better not try when you meet new people, outdoor Queimadas in winter, nursing home spas and drinks with taurine.
Have a happy day. Martha.
