And I'm back, women in anime are depicted so terribly its wild. I just wanted to come and say, fuck elizabeth (nnt/7ds), fuck orihime (bleach), and fuck hinata (naruto, but fuck her a little less cs i kind of like her)
It makes me angry that in almost every shonen, the main character has a personality and a life and things that they go through and have to overcome... and then theres the love interest. Always airheaded, always soft spoken, always kind, with no willpower at all. In bleach, I would ship rukia with ichigo so hard if she wasn't perfect with renji.
Bleach was actually insane because literally every female character had a personaltity except Orihime. I do like that Fairy tail is set apart from the rest because Lucy is kind of sort of the main character so she gets to have a personality too. Fanservice is like an obvious thing that I hate about anime and it takes away so much. If an anime was a 10 before factoring the fan service, it would be brought down to a 7 or 6 afterward. Orihime sucks over all, 2/10 love interest.
I'm pretty sure most of my hate of Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist) is stemmed from the countless anti-winry fanfiction I've read but she's a great standalone character. The only flaws I see in her is that she does the crying for the male mc thing, which is really out of character for her when I think about it. She has willpower, she's strong and independent, if anything she'd be travelling with them and staying strong for them because she understands that she's a liability if she breaks down crying at every bruise they get. That's more in character to me, but I suppose she is also a teenager so... I can't be too mad at her. All in all, Winry is an amazing female love interest. 9/10 love interst/mc.
Haruhi from Ouran Highschool really breaks the stereotype and gives us a refreshing view on women in anime. She wasn't obsessed with love, she didn't really care too much about anything. She wasn't the typical "yells at you for literally anything" female mc, or the "nice shy and airheaded" female mc. She wasn't even unique and I love that, she's genuinely a regular ass girl, and she was so hilarious. She's probably my favorite girl in anime if I'm being honest. 10/10 female love interest/mc.
Let's talk about Elizabeth. Elizabeth from 7ds is such a disgrace.. She sat and let Meliodas molest her and didn't care at all. You can tell when an anime is written by a man, and not to knock ALL anime written by men because there's some amazing ones out there, but things like that just make it so obvious. Diane and her obsession with Meliodas was weird too, it seemed a bit too much like a harem anime in season 1 and bits of season 2. Elizabeth was the typical soft spoken and overly kind love interest that I hate. Not a drop of personality there and then she has to blush with everything she says.. All in all, 0/10 love interest.
Last but not least, my dear Tohru Honda... Words cannot describe how much I love her. On the outside it looked like she was the typical soft spoken and overly kind female mc but she actually blew my mind. Her willpower is incredible, the fact that she stayed after finding out what Kyo really was and refused to leave. It wasn't a weird kind of moment where she was just blushing and refusing to leave because that's what the writers decided she was gonna do, but it was actually a great scene that showed who she was at her core. I loved how at the end of the series she disagreed with Kyo. "I might be nice but I do stand my ground." God, I love Tohru. It's like her kindness was genuine and real and so was her worry and concern for the Sohmas. All in all, 10/10 female love interest/mc.

how are you liking tokyo xtreme racer? i've been thinking about buying it but wanted to ask an expert video gamer first :) also just out of curiosity do you play with a wheel or a controller?
I've just finished the main story (as far as the early access game goes currently) and I loved it! TXR '25 is a nearly perfect return to form for the series, a really good followup to what I saw in Zero (and given reaction online to the game, seems like everyone feels the same way)
if you haven't played one of these before, it really isn't too different from the PS2 titles, or Import Tuner Challenge on X360, so if you'd rather try those out first there really is no issue
the game is really polished and controls great out of the box, there are people who recommend messing with controller settings and with the fine-tuning of the car but I really didn't find the need to do either of those things. I'm playing on an Xbox controller and it works amazing. I haven't tried the game with a wheel, though I could someday
if there's any specific gripes I'd have with it is that presentation wise, there really isn't enough music to go around (though what there is is more than good) and I'd like some nicer looks on the character intros, the lighting (which looks quite poor, especially in tunnels) and the map, which looks quite off outside of the roads (there's not enough buildings, and there's no trains and airplanes going around like in txr 0), which are all things I don't doubt are being considered for the full game
it's probably one of the easiest to recommend arcade racing titles on steam, as it really offers what it tells you and nothing else. no online, no multiplayer, no inflated price, just a good polished game for racing cars
there's also no Honda cars :( but maybe that could change

Ryou Bakura for the... ass-breaking-down game? I don't know what else to call it
How I feel about Ryou
Despite all that I post about Ryou, he is in a very weird spot for me. I absolutely love him. He's a character that managed to make me feel like I wasn't a failure and could actually make friends that loved and cared for me. But I only felt that when I watched season 0.
I only began to see Ryou as something more than a character that had a cute design and was doomed by the narrative, after I learned that he originally saved his friends from Yami Bakura, and didn't just get saved by Yami.
The scene where Ryou sacrificed himself for his friends because he loved them and didn't care about dying for them, practically broke me. Before that, I just assumed that Ryou was like he was in the first series anime, a place holder friend. A friend you didn't willingly hang out with, but would talk to when necessary and you still felt obligated to care for. This unfortunately made him really relatable to me. I hadn't seen a character like that before. All the shows I'd seen prior had everyone as a big group of friends, or people like Ryou had another friend group that was their main group. Seeing that Ryou had neither, just made me happy.
When I began to find out more about Ryou, his interest in occult, TTRPGs, and horror just didn't connect in my head for a bit. I didn't know that he even had interests other than dueling because it was never said in the anime. I found out he liked cream puffs, didn't like oysters, was waayy taller than me, preferred games over girls, and was narcissistic. It all hit me like a sack of bricks at once, and it took a long time for me to accept some of these.
It took even longer to accept that even after finding out how much more there was to him, I still relate heavily to him.
He's in my top 5, but I can't say that he'll ever be my favorite character. I love him dearly though, and I always will.
All the characters I ship romantically with Ryou
Honda
Yami Bakura
Marik
Anzu
Mai
Kaiba
Zorc Necrophades
Dark Master Zorc
Otogi
Aigami
My non-romantic OTPs for Ryou
Heartshipping, fragilshipping, puffshipping, ouijashipping
My unpopular opinion about Ryou
I don't think he's stronger than Yami Bakura. Mentally, physically, whatever. I think he could trick him a few times, Yami Bakura is a desperate man, but I don't think he could fool him for very long.
One thing I wish had/would happen to Ryou
He never gets any kind of closure or repercussions for anything. He never gets any kind of apology from Marik or Aigami for what they did, and Ryou himself is only ever shown getting a stern talking to from his friends. Especially after the Darkpg thing is when I think Atem should have just yelled at him a bit.
Thank you for the ask. Sorry if that first section was a little too personal. Ryou means a lot to me.

Speaking of the Skyline GT-R, it was a straight 6 engine. The first-generation GT-R, which debuted in 1969, was also a straight-six engine, and its predecessor, the 1964 GTB, had a 1500 with an extended engine room and a straight-six engine. The R32 GT-R, which returned to the circuit in 1990 and went on a winning streak, was naturally equipped with a straight-six engine. However, in May 2002, a GT-R that appeared in the All Japan GT Championship SUGO was equipped with a new "V6 engine." All GT-R models were changed to V6.
In March 1990, the Skyline GT-R (BNR32) made its spectacular debut at the West Japan Circuit at the opening round of the All Japan Touring Car Championship. He achieved his first victory by holding off strong opponents such as the Ford Sierra RS500 and Toyota Supra, and since then has won 30 races.
They would be on an unbeatable 20 race winning streak until the Group A regulations expire at the end of the year. The overwhelming speed of its RB26DETT engine (inline 6-cylinder 2771cc+ twin turbo with nominally over 470 horsepower/02 specification) and four-wheel drive completely changed the conventional wisdom of touring cars around the world.
The All Japan GT Championship, which started in 1993, rapidly grew to become the most popular racing event in Japan. The main battlefield for the GT-R has also shifted here. In 1993, it won 3 out of 3 races, in 1994 it won 2 out of 5 races against Porsche and Ferrari, in 1995 it was replaced with the BCNR33 and won 2 out of 6 races, and in 1996 it won 1 out of 6 races during the overwhelming dominance of McLaren F1. In 1997 1 win in 6 races with the rise of Supra, 2 wins in 7 races in 1998 with the rise of NSX, 1 win in 7 races in 1999 after replacing with BNR34. 2 wins in 7 races in 2000, 1 win in 7 races in 2001, and 0 wins in 8 races in 2002. This is a total of 15 wins in the All Japan GT Championship. It wasn't until 1999 that Toyota's Supra and Honda's NSX gained strength, and a close-up competition between them and the Skyline GT/R began. Due to changes in the regulations unique to the series that equalize the combat power of each car, it is impossible to say whether the machines are superior or inferior just by looking at the trends in the number of wins, but since the beginning of the new century, the GT-R has been relatively competitive. The chances of winning have diminished.
Under these circumstances, the decision was made to switch to a V6 engine midway through the 2002 season. The rear-wheel drive BNR34, equipped with the new VQ30DETT engine (V6 cylinder 2987cc+ twin turbo, over 485 horsepower), showed off its good origins by finishing in 2nd place at the 5th race at Fuji and at the 7th race at MINE. The team is disappointed that it ended 2002 without a win.
The team is determined to make amends for the lack of a win in 2002 in 2003.
The 2003 machine has changed before and after due to changes in vehicle regulations.
It became possible to use a vibrator frame, and the low hood shape of the 2003 GT-R became a hot topic among fans as soon as test runs began. We need to pay attention to future developments.
However, on the other hand, there are many GT-R fans who are disappointed that the long-loved straight-six (RB) will be replaced by the V6 (VQ). This was an era when in-line six-cylinder engines were becoming more valuable, and the RB engine's great appeal was its torque characteristics that appealed to the rider's five senses, as well as its good engine speed and vibration.
Each engine type has advantages and disadvantages. While reflecting the various needs of each era, from a global perspective as an automobile manufacturer, we created products specifically designed for motorsports.
We come to the fact that it is difficult to make an engine exhaust. An RB engine that exhausts from the left side cannot be used in left-hand drive cars, and because of its length, it cannot be installed in front-wheel drive cars either. When considering the global automobile market, it is important to have an engine that can be used in left-hand drive and front-wheel drive cars, and the lightweight and compact V-type 6-cylinder VQ engine can be used for a variety of purposes.
It was.
VQ engine became a luxury in 1999
When it was first introduced in the Cefiro car, it was not an engine designed for motorsports use. However, the VQ was introduced into the motorsports scene one after another overseas. Overseas motorsports officials were quick to realize that it had high potential as a base engine for racing. For example, Spain's one-make formula, which is becoming increasingly popular, Grand Am racing sports cars, the Dakar Rally, and off-road racing in South Africa.
VQ is demonstrating high combat power.
The decision to equip the 2003 model GT-R with a V6 engine instead of the familiar straight-six was not a sales strategy, but an essential choice to improve the machine's competitiveness. I'm saying that.
At the ``Nissan Motorsports Press Conference'' held in February 2003 the keyword mentioned was ``fast GT-R.'' The revitalization of the GT-R, which emphasizes ``fast'' rather than ``strong,'' has just begun with the V-6 VQ engine.
PIC CAPTIONS
BNR32 (1990~1995)
In 1990, the GT-R myth returns. BNR32 begins a winning streak. The GT-R is back for the first time in about 20 years.
BCNR33 (1996~1998)
In 1998, E. Comas/Masami Kageyama, riding BCNR33, won the JGTC championship.
BNR34(1999~2002)
GT-R equipped with VQ engine participates in test race at JGTC Round 3 in 2002 (car No. 22)

The failure of Red Bull’s junior academy
Red Bull’s junior academy started in 2001 as the first kind of an organization of this type in Formula 1 world. Some of the drivers that became a part of the junior programme got into F1 and some were or are even very succusseful. You might have heard of people like Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz or Pierre Gasly already. Looking at it like this, Red Bull Junior Program is the most successful one across all of them in F1. Seb was the first to win a race in their junior team, first to win the drivers championship and Max followed in his steps, also becoming a 4 times champion.
Max is their current biggest talent and also the root of the failure of the whole program. When he started defeating Daniel, Red Bull tried promoting any junior under their wing to try to find a suitable teammate for him. They put a lot of money and hopes towards Pierre’s career. They signed him in 2014 when he was competing in Formula Renault. They supported him during GP2 and gave him multiple testing opportunities, making him their official reserve driver and later giving him his first drive in F1 mid season in Toro Rosso. In 2019 he started as Red Bull’s driver except after bad results he was demoted back to the junior team before the season even finished. And that’s how Max’s never ending cycle of destroying his teammates started. It continued with Alex and now the same happened with Sergio who was the first driver they promoted into the team that didn’t come from their junior pool.
And that’s where the questions about the need for a junior academy began. If you are promoting other drivers while still nurturing young talents that beg for that seat, doesn’t it mean you failed them? In the last few years the situation became even more extreme. They are signing juniors left and right before any other junior academy has the chance to do so. They give them a year, sometimes even less, just to see how they perform. And if they decide it’s not enough for them, they will drop them, leaving them more vulnerable. In junior series, these are often career deciding moments.

Why is it never Yuki?
Yuki has been on the upcurve and he has been his best self on the track this year, which just proves he has been gaining experience in a steady way. Maybe it doesn’t make him a racing prodigy set to win the WDC in near future, but it shows how valuable he would be for Red Bull, especially as a second driver to Max Verstappen. It could be a mutually benefiting partnership with Yuki getting valuable experience from a 4 times WDC and Red Bull getting the maximum amount of points they could from the team game.
If we proceed with the team comparison, in qualifying he won head to head against both Daniel and Liam – 12:6 and 6:0 respectively. In races he also proved to be a better driver, although it was much closer with Daniel than with Liam 9:8 and 4:2 for Yuki. For a team that is in the lower half, the points are perhaps the most important figure, and even here, Yuki is the best driver out of the three by far. He scored 30 points for the team followed by Daniel with 12 and Liam with 4, meaning out of 46 total points, he scored 65 % of them. He qualified two positions higher than the other drivers with a p3. He also finished higher in the race with a p7 than any of the other two drivers did in their time in the seat this year. All of the numbers I just wrote down explain why Yuki finished p12 in the championship as opposed to his part time coworkers – Daniel in p17 and Liam in p21.
And so it looks like this has never been about the performance of the drivers and there has been other deciding factors. For one there is this personal dislike that Dr. Helmut Marko always expressed towards Yuki while praising Max for the same character traits. More interestingly, it could be the relationship Yuki has with Honda which granted him the drive in Red Bull’s junior team in the first place. With Red Bull’s partnership with Ford coming into action in 2026, Yuki becomes a puzzle piece that is no longer fitting into the equation with his Honda links. Even more so when Honda is joining Aston Martin from the same year onwards and the talks about Fernando Alonso retiring around that time become stronger.
Tumblr media
The reasons behind signing Liam
Although Yuki got a chance to test Red Bull in the post season testing in Abu Dhabi, it’s said that it was more Honda’s doing than the team’s decision. Instead, when the news of Sergio Perez leaving the team broke out, the Yuki didn’t even cross their mind for the seat. Liam Lawson was promoted to the main team after only 11 races in F1 and non-satisfying results.
The main reasoning behind the decision was cited Liam’s agression and good work under a lot of pressure – something we can all agree Yuki has as well and sometimes has even been cruicified for. Liam’s seat in Racing Bulls will be taken by Isack Hadjar from 2025 onwards after his unsuccessful title charge in F2 in 2024.

Not quite sure how I feel about season 0 yet
Tumblr media
I’ve definitely enjoyed the first three episodes. Retrospectively, parts of it work really well as a prequel to the original Yugioh series. Like Joey/Jonouchi (might go back and forth on their names since I watched DM in dub) going from a bully to a friend to Yugi and Yugi completing the puzzle, two things that were only ever mentioned in DM. It was neat actually seeing those events onscreen. I know they weren’t in DM because they didn’t want to be too derivative of this series and that’s totally fair but it still made DM feel incomplete in some places.
Apart from the “prequel-y” bits though, this has a very different feel from the rest of Yugioh. So far at least, it’s very episodic. The pilot gives some set ups and the next two episodes (and seemingly the next one based on its preview) are really loosely connected filler stories following these characters, with the occasional horror vibe when Yami Yugi shows up. Every episode so far has followed the same “some guy beats up weak Yugi so Yami Yugi appears in the last few minutes to punish them with a shadow game” narrative. Which is fine, it’s just entertaining enough to keep my attention for a couple episodes at a time while I eat. Season 0 feels different from every other Yugioh series but as a result, it lacks the charm of the other Yugioh series, at least for me.
It has its own merits though. Like its characters, some of which are superior to their depictions in DM.
Tumblr media
Okay not all of them. I still don’t really like Honda (never have) and Miho comes off as kind of manipulative but the others are all pretty good. I like Jonouchi’s more gruff yet still loyal persona in this show, that could just be a sub vs dub thing to be fair but I quite liked it. He’s about on par with his DM self. Yugi Muto meanwhile gets a lot more screentime in this series than he does in DM and as a result, I actually like him right off the bat, unlike DM where it took me much longer to care about either of the Yugis. Yami Yugi...
Tumblr media
...is not as twisted in this as I was lead to believe he was, at least at the point I’ve seen. His voice and design are honestly more weird than creepy which I will admit does disappoint me a bit. I do like how he feels much more like a legit alter ego to Yugi in this than he did in DM, where he was definitely his own person. That worked in its own right but I really like the whole “Jekyll and Hyde” vibe Yugi and Yami have in season 0, as though he’s actually a darker personality originating from within Yugi. Not sure if that’s what they’re going for yet but I enjoy it.
And my favourite season 0 character so far is Anzu.
Tumblr media
No you ain’t trippin, season 0 Anzu is the best interpretation of this character I’ve seen. Dark Side of Dimensions is a distant second place in this regard since it showed her achieving her dream by leaving to study dancing in America (the only bit of character she had that wasn’t related to her relationships in DM) and in episode 2 of season 0, she’s willing to break school rules and get a part time job to raise money for that dream. You go girl. She’s also just generally more enjoyable. I don’t know, the writing here makes her come off as more sassy and no nonsense rather than DM where she just felt... for lack of a better term, like a stereotypical nag. Also, she and Yugi are actually kind of cute in season 0. I like the scene where she sticks up for Yugi when he’s being bullied and Yugi just looks so incredibly happy to see her:
Tumblr media
And this one where he excitedly talks to her about the puzzle:
Tumblr media
They actually seem like genuine friends in this series, a fact that never really came through in DM for me because of how little screentime Yugi got compared to Atem. Anzu’s character revolved around him way too much in DM  and while that could still become a problem in season 0 (in fact it almost definitely will considering the pattern of DM-VRAINS) but I’m glad that for the first few episodes at least, Anzu was allowed to have more of a personality. And she and Yugi have much easier chemistry.
It’s a decent show so far I’d say. If it had been my introduction to Yugioh, I almost definitely wouldn’t have gotten as into it as I have but looking back on it as a “prequel” or the series’ roots in general makes it kind of interesting.
