if any of you are comedy and theater fans in the LA area, might I recommend this show at Hollywood Fringe "Adopted by Appalachians' by Pauline Combow, that includes a nod to Mulder and Scully of the X Files.

From the bio: "this is the true story of how a girl from the Rural South used the investigative techniques she learned on TV to track down her biological father across multiple states over 25 years.

Reveal the secrets of a nice family in a small town in the 1990s. From a young age, Paulina is let in on a little family secret. Her real father wasn’t the man who raised her. This answered a lot of questions, but opened up a lot more.

With a nod to the paranormal investigative prowess of Mulder and Scully, she incorporates their otherworldly flair into a real-world mystery that is as personal as it is perplexing. Paulina compares being adopted by Appalachians to being abducted by aliens, which sometimes seems more appealing, as her case draws on. 

In this enthralling quest, Paulina’s journey is intertwined with unexpected allies. FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, a beacon of truth-seeking in the supernatural, lends his expertise. my screenwriting teacher worked on The Lighthouse (almost every person in the nova scotian film industry did) and he told us that Robert Pattinson and Willem da Foe were constantly on set asking what they could do to help. he said they could've been cooped up in their trailers but it was nice they didn't. you are right about it being an exception to the rule though

“Headless Women” in Film & TV Marketing

“The trope of decapitating women and fragmenting them into sexual parts is systematic. Women's bodies are made equivalent in the consumer's mind to other desired objects: boats, cars, gadgets. This dehumanization of women in our own mainstream culture hides in plain sight. It informs young women about themselves before they have learned to think critically about who they are and what they want.”

The Tumblr project Headless Women of Hollywood purpose is to showcase the way movie posters tend to market films using women’s bodies—minus that crucial bit with the brain and face. This is a strange marketing trend film-goers might not notice until someone points it out. So far it’s more than 100 “headless women” TV and film posters, with more being added daily. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Beauty, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and Minions all have used headless women in their ad campaigns. (Full article)
