I was imagining someone (maybe Fubuki?) trying to explain the Velveteen Rabbit to Genos, and, unfortunately, given the strange and unforgiving world in which he lives, this adorable children’s story probably comes across as more of a threat… especially because he takes things so, so literally.

Fubuki: anyway, at the end of the story, the stuffed rabbit comes to life—

Genos: you mean it became a monster

Fubuki: well, no… you see, what happened was, the little boy loved his stuffed animal very much

Genos: and as such, he could not accept the painful truth of its monsterization. understandable

Fubuki: —no, the boy loved the rabbit so much that it became real—

Genos, nodding: which is why it should have been preemptively incinerated with the rest of the toys

Fubuki, gathering her coat: so I should probably be going,

Garou: good idea. it’s probably better not to argue with him

Genos, to Garou: I suppose this story is one of your favorites; a bloodthirsty rabbit might be your ideal childhood pet

Garou, also getting his coat: you know what, I’m gonna head out as well

I've instigated a new rule that if I typo a turn-of-phrase or something ("we'll burn that bridge when we get to it"), I just keep it in the script.

Weirdly, that happens most often when I'm writing for Sukuna but this time it's happening to Reigen (who is teaming up with Garou in hopes of selling more exorcisms):

Garou sighed again and adjusted his coat collar, turning his back to the wind. It had been a long day… one of several lately. Undoubtedly, there was more nonsense to come.

Now that he thought about it, that sixty-forty split didn’t sound so terrible after all. Maybe he should just cave and take Salt Guy up on his offer.

“Seventy-forty,” Reigen announced, apropos of nothing.

“That’s not possible,” Garou said. “Your math is off.” 

“Ah, so it is,” Reigen hummed. “Seventy-thirty, then.” 

“When somebody walks away from a negotiation, you go down, not up!” Garou protested. “That’s not how deals work—”

“—that’s not how deals work, if you’re an amateur,” Reigen replied. “That’s the price you pay for waiting.”

The ship names are just as cool as I expected!!! UNWANTED Survey makes me think… is their relationship marked simply by wanting privacy away from the yellow ad? Or why that name?

ALSO Im really glad you put Holiday Hijinks on there because Susie/Kris/Noelle is one of my top ships that doesn’t get talked about a lot. You’re doing all the heavy lifting for polyamorous deltarune fans.

I’m glad you liked them!!! I am not a fandom veteran for any fandom (not including fnaf) but the dying art of ship names is hurting me! I feel like people don’t ship susie Kris and Noelle as much cause not too many people are into poly ships but also just the focus on susie x noelle. Not upset but susie has two claws, she can throw both of them <3.

As for Unwanted Survey, It’s not about Surv at all actually. Their names are based on types of ads hence Surv = Survey, Pop = Pop ups or Video = Videos, Audi = Audio ads and Banner = Banner ads. The ship comes from Spam being a Spam ad and Banner being a review ad, sorta like surveys stores ask you to fill out after you shop. Most of the time both are unwanted and out right annoying so on the surface level this is where the ship name comes from, sort of like a mix of their functions and how people perceive them. I have mentioned shortly but based on my ad HCs none of the ads of mine are totally functional and in line with the regular ads one way or another. Surprisingly, it’s Spam and Banner that bond over this the most and thus, get along best on the whole “everyone find your purpose annoying” aspect.

The second reason is their own relationship. Banner has a need to critique, review and comment on things, create an order. I show this with how they take the initiative when setting up a plan like wanting Spam to be neat or getting excited at figuring out who the ad would work with first. Banner was always like this, not as doting but more micromanaging. Spamton always hated it. It makes him feel like he’s always doing something wrong and can’t be trusted, however, he still wants to figure out how to please Banner as a coworker and partner.

Banner on the other hand can’t handle criticism of herself, which Vidie and Spam gave out in abundance (Vidie more so). Spam would always call him out on how hard he was on him or how his stubbornness was gonna push everyone away (this only happened during heated debates). Banner hates how accurate the criticism was. The name comes from both hating what is essentially an unwanted assessment of their own character kinda like having someone fill out a survey about them. It’s something they can bond over and use against each other hence it being their ship name. Banner and Surv has the rockiest relationship of the ads, their name should reflect that somewhat.

Though the idea it would be about Surv would be funny, considering the last thing either would want is for him to not be around.

Happy Holidays everyone! It's that time of year and you know what that means! Time to announce the winners for the DTIYS Replica Holiday Special Cover!

I received so many wonderful submissions. Far more than I had anticipated! They were all so unique and creative and it was an absolute joy to look at each and every one of them! I really underestimated however how difficult it would be to choose with them all being so unique from each other. In the end, I decided to gauge the top picks on how well their cover captured the "essence" of what this Special is going to be like! Without further ado, here are the winners.

Buddy! I love this piece so dang much! It has so much character and perfectly displays the wacky hijinks we can expect as well as the huge amount of stress our poor boys are under during these trying, pregnancy times. The movement and colors work so well and make me excited for what comes next! Seldom do I see pregnant females shown as the badasses they are, but you have gone and turned Cassandra into an absolute icon with this piece! Bless you!

Sara, the shear amount of craft you put into your art is STAGGERING. Every scuff on Raph's shell and wisp of smoke screams of a quality I can only hope to attain someday. I literally want to be you when I grow up! That said, the concept of this piece is also fantastic. One of the things I'm must excited about for this Special is getting to see Raph and Casey as they were and witnessing the strong bond they share. I love them dearly and this cover captures their strength and tenacity so perfectly. Gods among men.

2ND PLACE - @cupcakeslushie

Slushie, this cover is so damn fun and dynamic that I can't stop looking at it! Your attention to detail and composition are masterful and the fact that you could fit such a bombastic battle into such a limited space speaks to how crazy talented you are! You also do a wonderful job of retaining both the intensity of the apocalypse but also that playful edge that Rise always manages to retain! It's definitely the cover that would catch my eye on a shelf and make me want to turn the page to see what happens next!

1ST PLACE - @abbeyofcyn

Cyn, the moment I saw this cover, I gasped! It's funny because this is both a piece I could have totally seen myself doing had I done the cover, yet crafted in a unique way I could have never come up with on my own! On top of that, this slick composition scratches my little designer brain juuust right. The use of the hands motif is such a great element because to me, it encapsulates the conflicting themes of family/parenthood with the drama of what it means to be human. On top of that, having each character as one of the digits both connected to and encircling Casey is such a wonderful touch that really drives the symbolism home. Somehow, you managed to peer into the future and perfectly capture how the finale of this special is going to feel. Thank you so much Cyn for such a wonderful piece!

Now that I think about it, looking back on these winners as a set, all four them actually do an amazing job as individual covers for each of the four "acts" that will make up this special. That was not at all my intention, but it kind of worked out perfectly for that. Gets me all emotional!

I also definitely want to put a spotlight on the other amazing submissions, many of which made it SO close to the top slots! I was going to post these pieces individually but I was worried people wouldn't then go to their blogs to view the covers, so instead have a compilation and links to the full versions!
