HELLO!
SEPTEMBER 22 is my B-day, I am trying to get my completed series THE EMERALD FORMULA, published.
So I’ve started a GoFundMe! Please check out my story below and if you could like, share, or donate it would mean everything to me.
LEARN MORE BELOW
I'm Raven Rose a queer, Latino, chronically ill, and disabled author and artist. Welcome to my journey as I get ready to be on my own for the first time in 15 years, go back to school, try to get on federal disability in the United States, and get my first novel published. September 22 is my Birthday month so if anyone is feeling extra festive, in lieu of gifts, I'd appreciate help here!
I’m restarting from scratch after a near decade of health problems, and despite great efforts to re-etner the workplace, 6 months time doing what I used to love, put me back in the hospital. For more about me visit my web page !
My lifelong dream has been to become a writer, but I can't do it alone. You can help me reach my goals and achieve my wildest dreams, and I could not be more grateful! Please do whatever you can do - like, share, and/or donate. I'm finally investing in myself and I believe my ideas and this story deserve investment too, so that's why I'm asking for your help.
Now for the goods!
THE EMERALD FORMULA is a series I've been working on close to 20 years.
The Working BLURB for novel 1 is as follows:
Renata Salcedo has never made a wave in her life. In the last few years though, she's broken up with her long term boyfriend, moved into her own place, and was diligently working towards the career of her dreams: a spot at the Smithsonian.
Fine... Adrenaline Junkie, Renata was not. She learned to stay small and figured out how to move quietly enough to stay unnoticed and survive. But it wasn't like she was unsuccessful. Her carefully planned path of baby steps lead her to exactly where she wanted to be: living her boring life and people leaving her alone to do her job. If anything, the job provided her all the excitement she needed. Unearthing old civilizations? Cataloguing the past through objects and art? Thrilling stuff! All done from the safety atop of an orthopedic pillow from behind a desk.
There was only one teensy problem with Renata's goals.
An entire world she knew nothing about existed right under her nose, and it's going to disrupt her boring little life whether she's planned for it or not. And really she can't complain too much, as it all starts with one of her absolute, most favorite things...
A Book
(Story EXCERPT at the bottom too)
REALM OF MATTER is the first novel in a complete 3-Book series called THE EMERALD FORMULA. At this point, the series needs refinement and editing, so both developmental and line editing. Funds will go towards paying the editors. Whatever is left over will go towards my publishing goals, and my intent to get an art degree and start doing marketing and making book covers. The three mock ups below were all created by me in Vector and Photoshop.
Tumblr media
This Epic tale is a paranormal adventure with elements or horror, humor, fantasy, and an underlying slow burn human/humanoid monster romance. It features a diverse cast of human characters who break the mold of the Hero's Journey, and reject its sanctity all-together.
Tumblr media
Its universe is heavily based on the History of science, magic, and folklore, focusing mainly on Pagan and Catholic mythology to give this Hero's journey a darkly poignant and comedic edge that digs in and punches up. The magical system is highly elemental, and dives deep into Alchemical and Spiritual theory from thousands of years ago. All of the artwork you see was done by me, a self taught artist (thought I'd like to go back to school next year).
Tumblr media
I created my own language and phonetics system, also an alphabet.
Tumblr media
All so I could make these transmutation circles based on sacred geometry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU CAN READ CHAPTER 1 HERE
THE EMERAD FORMULA: REALM OF MATTER is a snarky thriller that features a bunch of traumatized, relatable saps often thrust into magical and extraordinary circumstances with not much but found family and magic on their side. But if they can't find hope in a hopeless situation against the ultimate evil, no one can. If you vibe with sacrilege, and enjoy flawed, funny characters, family antics, awkward slow burn romances, complex but accessible lore, legacy heroes, ancient monsters, chaos, magic, and mayhem? You've found the series for you.
Please do whatever is accessible to you: liking, sharing, and donating are all extremely important to make this project a reality. This means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate your support.
Thank you for your time,
Raven Rose

CATALYST JOURNAL
While the uptick in strike activity in 2021 is heartening, its influence should not be exaggerated. The number and extent of job actions was noticeable but still very small by historical standards, and union density continued to decline. A significant labor upsurge might be in the works, but it is not in evidence yet.
In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, Pope Francis spoke movingly of the workers keeping the world turning in dark times:
People who do not appear in newspaper and magazine headlines or on the latest television show, yet in these very days are surely shaping the decisive events of our history. Doctors, nurses, storekeepers and supermarket workers, cleaning personnel, caregivers, transport workers, men and women working to provide essential services and public safety, volunteers, priests, men and women religious, and so very many others. They understood that no one is saved alone.1
These workers have done everything we’ve asked of them and more. They have been through hell, particularly those who have risked their health and well-being to care for the sick, educate the young, feed the hungry, and deliver the things the rest of us need to get through this period of grinding uncertainty. Employers, politicians, and talking heads have lauded them as essential workers, but the stark gap between the praise and the grim realities of working life in the United States — which was already miserable for millions before the pandemic — have pushed many to the breaking point. Indeed, record numbers of American workers have quit their jobs in what the media has dubbed the Great Resignation. According to the US Labor Department, 4.5 million workers voluntarily left their jobs in November 2021. The number of monthly quits has exceeded three million since August 2020, and the trend shows no sign of slowing down.2 Job switchers span the employment ladder, but turnover has been largely concentrated in the low-wage service sector, where workers are taking advantage of the very tight labor market to get a better deal for themselves. According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, workers with high school diplomas are currently enjoying a faster rate of wage growth than workers with bachelor’s degrees, a remarkable situation that has not occurred in decades.3
Worker discontent is not only finding expression in the form of quitting and job switching. In 2021, we witnessed a modest increase in the frequency and visibility of collective action in the workplace. Tens of thousands of workers, union and nonunion alike, challenged employers through protests and strikes across sectors and in many different geographical regions. Workers in health care and social assistance, education, and transportation and warehousing led the way, but they were joined by workers in hotels and food services, manufacturing, and other industries. Protests and strikes tended to be concentrated in states where labor is relatively stronger, namely California, New York, and Illinois, but some states with low union density, like North Carolina, saw an uptick in labor action, too. Pay increases were easily the most common demand, but health and safety, staffing, and COVID-19 protocols were high on the agenda as well.
The year 2021 was less a strike wave than a strike ripple, and it has not yet resulted in any appreciable increase in unionization. A few trends stand out. The first is that labor protest and strike action were heavily concentrated among unionized groups of workers. Unionized groups of workers accounted for nearly 95% of all estimated participants in labor protests and more than 98% of all estimated participants in strikes. The second is that protests and strikes were concentrated by industry — namely health care and education, which together accounted for roughly 60% of all labor actions. Finally, protests and strikes were heavily concentrated geographically. Just three states with relatively high levels of union density — California, New York, and Illinois — accounted for more than half the total estimated participants in protests and strikes. In short, collective workplace action is by and large taking place where organized labor still retains residual sources of strength. In this context, spreading protest and strike action beyond its current industrial and regional confines depends on unionization in new places.
Conditions conducive to labor action — rising inflation, pandemic-related pressures, and a tight labor market — are likely to persist into 2022, and the Biden administration’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has been meaningfully supportive of worker organizing. US labor is probably not on the verge of a historic breakthrough, but in this context, workers may have an opportunity to make modest material and organizational gains.
Making new organizational gains is critical to the fortunes of the labor movement and the reviving US left. The vast majority of the workers involved in strikes and labor protests last year were already members of unions, not unorganized workers looking to unionize. This is why it is so concerning that last year’s uptick in labor action occurred amid a further decline in union density in 2021. The overall rate of union membership stands at 10.3% of the total labor force, while the total number of union members, just over fourteen million in 2021, continues its long decline.4 While some have argued that treating union density as the key measure of labor’s strength is a mistake, it seems clear that, at least in the US context, where union density and union coverage almost entirely overlap, it does provide an effective measurement of working-class power.5
Boosting the level of union density should therefore be among the leading priorities of progressives and socialists in the United States. As the power resources school of welfare state scholars has long argued, the relative strength of the labor movement and its affiliated political parties has been the single most important factor shaping welfare state development over time and across countries. Here in the United States, where we have never had a nationwide social democratic party aligned with a strong labor movement, the weakness of working-class organization is clearly reflected in the fragmentation and stinginess of our welfare state. The state-level wave of attacks on organized labor that began in 2010 have made it that much harder for unions to defend working-class interests and reduce inequality. But the fact that they were able to meaningfully mitigate the growth of inequality, even during the period of neoliberal retrenchment, shows that rebuilding the labor movement needs to be a chief priority of any progressive political agenda.6 The Biden administration’s pro-union stance suggests it understands this. But if it’s unable to act decisively to boost union membership, all the pro-union rhetoric it can muster will ultimately amount to little.
TRACKING LABOR ACTION
Researchers at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) began documenting strikes and labor protests in late 2020. Their ILR Labor Action Tracker provides a database of workplace conflict across the United States, based on information collected from government sources, news reports, organizational press releases, and social media. It counts both strikes and labor protests as “events” but distinguishes between the two. The major distinction between strikes and labor protests, according to this methodology, is whether the workers involved in the event stopped work. If they did, the event is defined as a strike; if they did not, it is defined as a labor protest. The Labor Action Tracker also collects data on a number of additional variables, including employer, labor organization (if applicable), local labor organization (if applicable), industry, approximate number of participants, worker demands, and more.7
ACTION TYPES
In 2021, there were 786 events with 257,086 estimated participants.8 Over 60% of the events were labor protests, while less than 40% were strikes (there was one recorded lockout). Roughly one-third of the estimated number of workers participated in labor protests, while roughly two-thirds participated in strikes. Further, the average number of estimated workers per labor protest (188) was significantly smaller than the average number of estimated workers per strike (553, see Table 1 for details).
Tumblr media
DURATION
Neither labor protests nor strikes tended to last very long, which tracks with the generally sharp decline in strike duration in recent decades.9 Labor protests in particular were very short affairs. Of the labor protests with a start and end date, 96% lasted for just one day or less. Strikes also tended to have a short duration, but they typically did not end as quickly as protests. Of the strikes with a start and end date, one-third lasted for one day or less. Roughly two-thirds of strikes (68%) ended within a week, and over 90% ended within thirty days. One strike stands out for its unusually long duration: a 701-day strike by United Auto Workers (UAW) members against a metallurgical company in Pennsylvania, which began in September 2019 and ended in August 2021.
Tumblr media
INDUSTRIES
An informed observer will not be surprised by which industries saw the largest number of labor action events (Table 2). The leading two industries by far were health care and social assistance and education, which are both highly unionized and have been subjected to enormous pressures during the pandemic. Together, they accounted for nearly 40% of the total labor protests and strikes. These industries also comprised over 60% of the overall number of estimated labor action participants — health care with 41.5% of the estimated participants, education with 18.8%. The overrepresentation of health care and education workers becomes even starker when we compare this to their employment shares in the overall labor force. In 2020, these two industries accounted for 16.3% of total nonfarm employment — health care with a 13.8% share and education with 2.3%.10 Put another way, the share of health care workers in 2021 labor actions was roughly three times larger than their share in the nonfarm labor force, while the share of education workers was more than eight times as large.
These two pace-setting industries were followed by a second tier of industries including transportation and warehousing, accommodation and food services, and manufacturing. It is not surprising to see these listed among the most turbulent industries, as they contain a mix of highly unionized employers and nonunion employers that have become a major focus of labor organizing activity, namely Amazon — the most frequently targeted employer, with twelve total labor actions — which was the target of twice as many labor actions as McDonald’s, the second-most targeted employer.
The industrial distribution of labor protests generally follows the overall distribution of labor action, with the notable exception of manufacturing, which saw far more strikes than protests. While the health care industry did not experience the largest number of strikes, it accounts for more than half of estimated strike participants (53%). Workers in education (12.4%) and manufacturing (16%) also accounted for outsize shares of the estimated number of participants.

BBU Community Days: Details (Day 7)
Prompt: What's a detail of BBU worldbuilding you always wanted to dive into? (Newly emerging professions, legal aspects, pet fashion, economic side effects, societal aspects, facility workplace ethic, history, safehouse organisation, deconditioning…) Do it now, and ramble a bit!
One topic I love to muse about in the BBU is the legal aspects of it. In the spectrum from those ‘verses that are full on in the dystopian, corporations-control-everything mode, to just like our world with a little added capitalism, I am more on the latter side. WRU is not above the law, but the law is made to make their business possible.
I like to think about balancing the interests of WRU and the society as a whole (not so much the individuals, because as long as they don’t have money, they don’t matter much here), and so I find myself wondering about regulation of labor and social affairs such as health and retirement.
LABOR
Pets / Boxies are only permitted for a very narrow field in my ‘verse. And that’s a household. Romantics, Platonics, Domestics, Guard Dogs, all need to belong to one individual and work in that person’s household. Guard Dogs working for a private security company, nope, banned. Domestics in a hotel, platonics in a hospital, Romantics in a club - all banned. And it will be checked and controlled regularly. There will be people bending the rules, but “my” BBU society may be dystopian but they protect the labor market! Owners who let their pets work like this are heavily fined.
If a pet does work for more than one household, that would already be charged. Romantics also may only be shared in very private contexts.
This is also a reason why the prices for pets are regulated in a way that exceeds what one would have to pay for labor for a certain amount of years. People still buy them, because of the bonding aspect, the stability, the configuration possibilities, the POWER, but really, not because the work they’ll do warrants the price.
Still, there have been several fields where “classic” workers have been pushed off the labor market; but all in areas where there isn’t a strong lobby to protect them.
HEALTHCARE / RETIREMENT
The compensation a boxie or their family gets should amount to several years of income. Additionally, WRU contracts include lifelong health care to a certain standard, lifelong board and lodging. WRU would take care of this, meaning a higher price to pay for the prospective - but they can always send their boxie to WRU medical facilities, and once the boxie can’t work any longer, WRU provides them with a place in a care home. (Officially, that is. And after WRU decided that they can’t work any longer. There’s probably not many pets who end up well cared for.)
It’s also illegal to hurt a boxie more than it is necessary to discipline them, or to keep them in inhumane conditions. Controls on that however are very rare. Still, sometimes people would report a situation to the police, and if the police aren’t paid off by the owner or don’t like them, they would confiscate the pet and return it to WRU. (Which somehow the pets don’t see as safety, huuuh.)
FREEDOM
Hadn’t been originally planned. WRU boxies are meant to stay boxies, forever. The demand came up however, owners wanting to release their boxies from their “contracts”.
After some thought put into it, this is only legal if they’re provided with sufficient funds to survive, as they wouldn’t usually find jobs easily and never had the chance to build up any savings. There are certain insurances / funds that make money of setting up such plans for former boxies. Not all deliver as well as the owner intended.
If such funds however can’t be provided or the pet ends up helpless, they will be delivered back to WRU. After all, WRU is obliged to give them lifelong support (see above) once the owner won’t give it any longer.

Workers Memorial Day
Workers’ Memorial Day is an international holiday marked on April 28 annually. It is observed to raise awareness of the importance of workplace safety, as well as commemorate all the workers who have lost their lives due to work-related illnesses and those whose lives have been put on hold due to injuries that have incurred while working. According to figures, the number of people who get killed at work is higher than those who lose their lives to wars and drug abuse combined! Labor unions around the world observe this day to remember their fallen heroes and discuss measures to ensure safe workplaces.
History of Workers Memorial Day
Although it only became widely popular when the U.S. first celebrated it on April 28, 1989, Workers’ Memorial Day had been celebrated several years before then by Canada on the same day. Perhaps, the unpopularity associated with Canada’s first observation can be credited to the fact that it was celebrated under a different, albeit similar name. Regardless of who first observed it though, the day was inspired by the signing of the Occupational Safety and Health Act into law in 1970 and the formation of the OSHA on April 28, 1971.
In the early years of the signing of the OSHA into law, the celebration of the Workers’ Memorial Day was centered in North America. The holiday only attained international recognition in the last parts of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries. In 1985, the Canadian Labor Congress pronounced April 28 as an annual day of remembrance — which is the anniversary of a Workers’ Compensation Act signed as far back as 1914. Progressively, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organization (A.F.L.-C.I.O.) declared April 28 as Workers’ Memorial Day to honor the thousands of people who have been injured or lost their lives on their jobs. The U.K. followed suit with their celebration in 1992.
Since the adoption of the holiday by the International Labor Organization (I.L.O.) in 2001, many countries are now actively participating in observing it, with some deeming it fit to confer the holiday a public holiday status. Furthermore, to add value to the holiday, from 1996, annual themes began to be assigned to each year’s celebration of the day.

Workers Memorial Day FAQs
What does a labor union do?
Among many other things, labor unions are charged with fighting for the betterment of their workers’ welfare, remunerations, and all things needed for them to work in a favorable environment and for decent financial gratification. Generally, labor unions serve as mediators between their members and authorities. Their impacts have been felt by both employees and employers over the years.
Is a labor union a good thing?
It is. This is evident in the many advantages and privileges unionized workers get over their non-unionized counterparts. Most significant changes in employees’ welfare and safety were achieved through the struggles of labor unions. They do have their setbacks though.
Why do people not like unions?
Most governments and employers detest labor unions because of their strong affection for riots and strike actions. To the unions, those two are the most effective languages employers understand, and many a time, they do succeed in pressing home their demands with the employers.
How to Observe Workers Memorial Day
Inform the public about work safety
Strive for a safer environment at work
Honor the memories of fallen workers
Go out there and educate the public on the importance of staying safe while at work. Also, tell them the possible risks associated with their various works.
If you are working in an unsafe or potentially dangerous environment, get people to rally behind you and ask for a safer work environment from your employers. You might just be a cause for a good change.
Be it a close relative, friend, acquaintance, or stranger, honor the memories of those fallen heroes, who died in the cause of their works. Pay tributes to them or their loved ones.
5 Interesting Facts About Workers’ Memorial Day
It was first celebrated in Canada
It was unpopular at first
America made it popular
It became international
It's a public holiday in Gibraltar
Canada was the first country to mark it although under a different but similar name.
The event was first known but not quite as popular as it became in the later years.
It only began to be widely recognized when the U.S. marked it.
A host of country trade unions in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and elsewhere observe it.
While it is simply a national holiday in other countries, it is a government-free public holiday in Gibraltar.
Why Workers Memorial Day is Important
It reminds us of successful struggles
It increases the unity between workers worldwide
It gives workers a more amplified voice
Workers' Memorial Day reminds us of how effective calling out to authorities for good changes can be. By doing so, we may be able to save someone's life.
Whichever continent you happen to be from and whichever race you belong to, this day increases the bond and unity between workers in achieving a common goal. We love this!
Workers around the world use the day to loudly voice out their work environment and other pressing demands. Considerate employers, on the other hand, listen to the demands.

Dining Made Easy: Unleash the Power of Food Delivery Apps
Tumblr media
In today's fast-paced world, convenience is king. This is especially true when it comes to food. Gone are the days when ordering takeout meant flipping through a drawer of paper menus or calling in an order. The rise of food delivery apps has transformed the way we dine, offering unparalleled convenience, variety, and speed. In this blog, we'll explore the myriad ways food delivery apps have revolutionized our dining experiences, making it easier than ever to enjoy delicious meals from the comfort of our homes.
The Evolution of Food Delivery
A Brief History
The concept of food delivery isn't new. It dates back to ancient times when food would be delivered to homes and workplaces. However, the modern food delivery system we recognize today began in the early 20th century with the rise of telephone orders. Fast forward to the digital age, and the internet paved the way for online ordering, setting the stage for the food delivery apps we use today.
The Birth of Food Delivery Apps
Food delivery apps emerged as a natural progression from online ordering. These apps leverage smartphone technology to offer a seamless ordering experience. With just a few taps, users can browse menus, place orders, and track deliveries in real-time. The convenience and efficiency of these apps have made them an integral part of our daily lives.
The Benefits of Food Delivery Apps
Convenience at Your Fingertips
The most significant advantage of food delivery apps is convenience. Whether you're at home, at work, or on the go, you can order food with ease. There's no need to call in an order or wait in long lines. Everything you need is right there on your smartphone. Check Mansa food delivery.
A World of Choices
Food delivery apps open up a world of culinary possibilities. With access to a wide range of restaurants and cuisines, you can satisfy any craving. Whether you're in the mood for sushi, pizza, or a gourmet burger, there's an app for that. This variety ensures that there's something for everyone, no matter their taste or dietary preferences.
Time-Saving Solutions
In today's busy world, time is a precious commodity. Food delivery apps save you the time and effort of cooking, allowing you to focus on other tasks. This is especially beneficial for those with hectic schedules, parents, and anyone looking to simplify their daily routine.
Contactless Delivery
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, contactless delivery has become a crucial feature. Food delivery apps have adapted to provide safe, contactless delivery options, ensuring the health and safety of both customers and delivery personnel.
Customization and Special Requests
Food delivery apps offer a high level of customization. You can easily modify orders to suit your preferences, dietary restrictions, or allergies. Special requests, such as extra sauce or no onions, can be easily communicated through the app, ensuring your meal is exactly how you want it.
Promotions and Discounts
Many food delivery apps offer promotions, discounts, and loyalty programs to attract and retain customers. These deals can save you money and provide added value, making dining out (or in) more affordable.
The Impact on the Restaurant Industry
Expanding Reach and Customer Base
Food delivery apps have expanded the reach of restaurants, allowing them to serve customers beyond their immediate vicinity. This has opened up new revenue streams and increased customer bases, particularly for smaller or niche restaurants that may not have had the means to reach a broader audience.
Operational Efficiency
For restaurants, partnering with food delivery apps can streamline operations. These apps often provide order management systems that integrate with existing point-of-sale systems, simplifying the process of managing orders and deliveries.
Data-Driven Insights
Food delivery apps collect valuable data on customer preferences, order patterns, and peak times. This data can be used by restaurants to refine their menus, improve service, and tailor marketing efforts to better meet customer needs.
The User Experience: Seamless and Intuitive
User-Friendly Interfaces
One of the hallmarks of successful food delivery apps is their user-friendly interfaces. These apps are designed to be intuitive, with easy-to-navigate menus and straightforward ordering processes. Even for those who are not tech-savvy, placing an order is a simple and hassle-free experience.
Real-Time Tracking
Real-time tracking is a game-changer in the world of food delivery. Once an order is placed, customers can track the progress of their delivery from the restaurant to their doorstep. This feature provides transparency and reduces the uncertainty of waiting for a delivery, enhancing the overall user experience.
Customer Reviews and Ratings
Food delivery apps often feature customer reviews and ratings, helping users make informed decisions about where to order from. These reviews provide insights into the quality of food, service, and delivery times, allowing customers to choose the best options available.
Sustainability and Environmental Impact
Reducing Food Waste
Food delivery apps can help reduce food waste by providing restaurants with data on popular items and ordering patterns. This allows restaurants to better manage inventory and reduce the amount of unused food.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Many food delivery apps and restaurants are now prioritizing eco-friendly packaging options. This includes using biodegradable, compostable, or recyclable materials to minimize the environmental impact of food delivery.
Supporting Local and Sustainable Choices
Some food delivery apps highlight restaurants that prioritize local, organic, and sustainable ingredients. By choosing these options, customers can support businesses that are committed to environmental sustainability.
The Future of Food Delivery Apps
Integration with Smart Home Devices
As smart home technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see greater integration between food delivery apps and smart home devices. Imagine ordering food using voice commands through your smart speaker or receiving delivery notifications on your smart refrigerator. This seamless integration will further enhance the convenience of food delivery apps.
Advanced AI and Personalization
Artificial intelligence (AI) will play a significant role in the future of food delivery apps. AI can analyze user preferences and behaviors to offer personalized recommendations and predict future orders. This level of personalization will create a more tailored and enjoyable dining experience.
Drones and Autonomous Delivery
The future of food delivery may also include drones and autonomous vehicles. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize the delivery process, making it faster and more efficient. While still in the experimental stages, the use of drones and autonomous vehicles could significantly reduce delivery times and improve service.
Enhanced Customer Engagement
Future food delivery apps will likely place a greater emphasis on customer engagement. This could include features like interactive menus, virtual reality (VR) restaurant tours, and social media integration. These enhancements will create a more immersive and engaging user experience.
Challenges and Considerations
Ensuring Food Quality and Safety
Maintaining food quality and safety during delivery is a top priority. Food delivery apps and restaurants must work together to ensure that food is prepared, packaged, and delivered in a way that preserves its quality and prevents contamination.
Managing Delivery Logistics
Efficient delivery logistics are crucial for the success of food delivery apps. This includes optimizing delivery routes, managing delivery personnel, and ensuring timely deliveries. Advanced logistics management systems can help address these challenges.
Balancing Costs and Affordability
While food delivery apps offer convenience, the cost of delivery and service fees can add up. It's important for these apps to strike a balance between affordability and profitability, ensuring that customers receive value for their money without compromising the quality of service.
Conclusion
Food delivery apps have undoubtedly changed the way we dine, offering unparalleled convenience, variety, and efficiency. They have expanded the reach of restaurants, provided valuable data insights, and introduced innovative features that enhance the user experience. As technology continues to advance, the future of food delivery apps looks promising, with exciting possibilities for further innovation and improvement.
By embracing the power of food delivery apps, we can enjoy delicious meals with ease, support local businesses, and even make more sustainable dining choices. A Historical Overview of Workplace Health and Safety
In today's world, workplace safety stands as a paramount concern for all organizations. However, this wasn't always the case. In fact, the concept of workplace health and safety is relatively new.
Before 1970, workplace safety lacked a centralized focus and fell under the jurisdiction of the Department of Labor. This lack of centralization meant that workers often bore the brunt of unsafe working conditions, with little recourse for protection. It took over two centuries for workplace safety to evolve into the comprehensive laws and regulations we adhere to today. Unfortunately, it wasn't until the increasing number of fatalities and injuries that significant changes began to take place.
Through the ages, workplace health and safety have undergone remarkable advancements. What once was a time of perilous working conditions has transformed into an era where the well-being of employees and accident prevention take center stage. In this article, we'll explore the pivotal moments that have shaped the journey toward safer and healthier workplaces, spanning from the Industrial Revolution to modern-day procedures. Try out construction safety software to increase your workplace safety with ease. Many people use NeoEHS software to track potential risks and also grow safer work culture. https://www.neoehs.com/blogs/history-of-workplace-safety

The Next Level: Why Managing Employee Medical Records Goes Beyond Traditional HR Software
Tumblr media
In the good old days, the Human Resources department was armed with nothing but a pen, paper, and a hefty filing cabinet. Well, times have changed. With the evolution of technology, HR has transitioned from the physical to the digital world, making it easier to manage an overwhelming amount of employee data.
But there’s a catch. Many HR software options can indeed handle basic employee information with flair. However, they often fall short when it comes to managing medical records and incidents. It’s akin to trying to fit a square peg in a round hole; it just doesn’t work perfectly.
In this post, we’ll dive deep and discover why there’s a compelling case for managing employee medical records beyond traditional HR software. Let’s begin, shall we?
The Complexity of Medical Records
Medical records are kind of like that intricate puzzle you attempted during a family vacation: detailed, multifaceted, and requiring a lot of attention. Unlike the basic “Name, Date of Birth, and Address” in your traditional HR software, medical records throw in a curveball with histories, diagnoses, and so much more.
Let’s paint a picture: Imagine Sarah from Marketing gets a new allergy or undergoes a small procedure. With traditional HR systems, Sarah’s update could easily get overshadowed by routine data. We don’t want poor Sarah to miss out on those special non-gluten treats at the next office party, do we?
Moreover, there’s the BIG word: confidentiality. A slip-up in handling sensitive health data is like accidentally revealing the ending of the latest blockbuster series to a friend, except with legal repercussions. Dedicated medical record systems come with an invisibility cloak (think Harry Potter) to ensure such data remains unseen by prying eyes.
Legal Compliance and Liability
Navigating the world of legal compliance regarding medical records feels a bit like playing hopscotch in a maze. It’s a tricky game. Various locations, be it countries or states, have their rulebook about how these records should be handled. It’s not just about what you store, but how you store and share it.
Using a one-size-fits-all software, like many traditional HR platforms, is like using a spoon to eat spaghetti. It might work, but it’s messy, and there’s a high chance you’ll miss out on the best bits. If the sauce of non-compliance splatters on your shirt, the stains (or legal repercussions) can be long-lasting and tough to remove.
And here’s a fact: Mishandling medical records doesn’t just upset employees. It sends out open invitations to legal sharks ready to jump on any mishap. Dedicated systems, on the other hand, are like your life jackets in this sea, ensuring you sail smoothly without unwanted attention. For more details visit us at https://www.safequal.net/.
Specialized Reporting Needs
Let’s set the scene. An unfortunate incident occurs in the workplace. John from Accounts trips over a misplaced wire. Now, instead of just making a footnote in John’s profile, you’ll need a complete incident report. Why? To ensure John’s future safety and to spot any trends.
Standard HR software might let you note the incident, but will it allow you to track how many times similar incidents occurred? Can it highlight potential hazards like “most tripped over items” or “common injury zones”? It’s like having a detective novel without a thrilling investigation.
But with systems designed for medical records and incidents, it’s a different story. They’re like the superheroes of the software world, diving deep, spotting patterns, and ensuring that no detail, however small, goes unnoticed. With them, John’s safety, and everyone else’s, is far better secured.
Streamlined Communication with Health Professionals
Imagine this: Your office holds a massive annual sports day. Fun, right? But amidst the cheering and team banners, Dave from IT pulls a muscle. Now, the company might need to connect directly with a healthcare provider for Dave’s assessment. If you’re fumbling through generic HR software, it’s a bit like trying to chat at a loud rock concert: communication isn’t easy or clear.
Enter specialized medical record systems. They’re like those nifty translator earbuds that let you understand any language. With all the health data neatly organized, communicating with healthcare professionals becomes as smooth as your favorite latte. Whether you’re sharing records, getting feedback, or seeking advice, everything is streamlined.
Moreover, these systems can often play nice with other healthcare platforms. Think of it as making new friends at a party. This compatibility ensures that Dave gets back on his feet faster, and the company knows precisely how to support his recovery.
Employee Empowerment and Engagement
Think of your employees as the protagonists in their epic movies. They want to be in the driver’s seat, especially when it comes to their health and well-being. Using generic HR systems to manage their medical records is a bit like watching a film in low resolution: it just doesn’t capture all the details.
By adopting a system dedicated to medical records, you’re essentially handing employees the remote control. They can fast-forward, rewind, pause, and play with their health data. Whether it’s Anna updating her new dietary needs or Mike sharing his fitness progress, they’re in control.
And here’s the blockbuster twist: When employees see that their organization invests in tools that prioritize their health, it’s like a standing ovation. The trust grows, the bond strengthens, and the overall narrative of the company as a caring employer shines bright.
Scalability and Flexibility
Remember that tiny plant you bought for your desk? Over time, with care and attention, it grew, needing a bigger pot and more space. Similarly, as businesses flourish, their data does too. Trusting a generic HR software to handle the burgeoning medical data is akin to expecting that tiny pot to support a full-grown fern. It’s going to get cramped.
Specialized systems, on the other hand, are like those magical expandable bags in fairy tales. They grow with your needs. Today you have 50 employees; tomorrow, it could be 500 or 5,000. These systems stretch and adapt, ensuring that every record, old or new, has its cozy corner.
Plus, the world of health and well-being is ever-evolving. New research emerges; regulations change. Systems dedicated to medical records are like chameleons: they adapt. They ensure that companies aren’t playing catch-up but are confidently leading the parade.
Conclusion
Navigating the world of employee medical records is no easy feat. It’s a journey filled with intricate details, legal hurdles, and genuine human concerns. While traditional HR software has its strengths, when it comes to the complex realm of health records and incidents, specialized systems shine. They offer the depth, security, and flexibility that HR software often lacks.
In this ever-evolving landscape, companies need to adapt, innovate, and ensure that they’re equipped with the best tools for the job. Because at the end of the day, an organization’s strength lies in the health and well-being of its employees.

I learned something about Labor Day, thought I’d share.
👷‍♀️
By 1900, the United States contained 50% of the world’s manufacturing capacity. As industry boomed, the growing abundance of industrial work drew the labor force from rural farming towns to cities. By 1916, 50% of Americans lived in urban areas, many in extreme poverty. The poor and recent immigrants worked in factories, mills, and mines. Many experienced 20-hour days, 6–7 days a week, for an average pay of 20 cents an hour (just shy of $5 an hour by today’s standards). People of all ages often faced unsafe working conditions, insufficient access to fresh air, no sanitary facilities, and no breaks.
In 1911, the meaning behind Labor Day took on even more significance after the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire occurred in New York City, taking the lives of 145 workers, most of them teenage girls. It’s remembered as one of the most tragic incidents in American industrial history, as many of the deaths were caused by neglected safety features and locked doors within the building. The horrific disaster led to the development of vital worker protections that we often take for granted today, including the 40-hour workweek, child labor laws and workplace health and safety standards.
.
dol.gov ended their read with this,
“The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pays tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership – the American worker.”

World Stop Sign Day
With the slogan, “STOP when you have to stop”, this event is here to honor the important history of the stop sign and encourage those who might simply need to put on the brakes of their life.
World Stop Day can help to promote healthy boundaries, remind humans of their natural limits, and work preventatively against burnout!
History of World Stop Sign Day
Celebrated for the first time in 2024, World Stop Sign Day has been founded to show appreciation for the crucial role that stop signs have been playing in traffic safety for more than a century. This event was co-founded by two economists, Géza Mihályi and Dr. Szabolcs Imreh from Hungary.
The date of observance for World Stop Sign Day was chosen because Michigan became the first state to adopt the octagonal stop sign as an official traffic signal on 31 of August 1914.
In addition to being a part of public road systems worldwide, the vibe of STOP signs can be applied to many different aspects of life, whether physically stopping to rest when the body needs it or stopping a bad habit and replacing it with a new one.
World Stop Sign Day can be part of all of these ideas and more!
How to Celebrate World Stop Sign Day
World Stop Sign Day offers participants all sorts of different ways to enjoy getting involved. Get creative with celebrating the event, starting with some of these ideas:
Host World Stop Sign Day Events
Individuals, families, local traffic safety agencies, schools and even mental health professionals can all get involved with hosting events that are dedicated to celebrating World Stop Sign Day!
Consider some events such as traffic safety educational events in high schools, mental health campaigns to prevent burnout in workplaces and other activities.
Join a STOP Sign Photo Contest
Get on board with the celebrations of World Stop Sign Day by snapping a square photo of a stop sign in the local area and then submitting it to the contest website for the official day.
This allows people from all over the world to share a piece of their community with the rest of the world!
Create Some Stop Sign Artwork
This can be done at home with the kids, in a school setting with the students, or even with a group of senior citizens who enjoy making artwork.
World Stop Sign Day is a great time to bring out that inner creative artist through activities like painting, collage making, crochet, and much more.
Create a World Stop Sign Day Playlist
A celebration is not complete without the right music to go along with it! Get creative with World Stop Sign Day by creating and listening to a curated playlist of songs that go along with the theme of stopping. Check out some of these songs to get things going:
Stop! In the Name of Love by the Supremes (1965)
Stop Sign by Beyonce (2008)

          About
We, the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee (IWOC), are a prisoner-led section of the Industrial Workers of the World.  We struggle to end prison slavery along with allies and supporters on  the outside. On September 9, 2016 we were part of a coalition of inside  and outside groups that launched the largest prison strike in US  history. Resistance to prison slavery continues with work stoppages,  hunger strikes and other acts of resistance to business as usual.
But it will take a mass movement - inside and out - to abolish prison  slavery. We have hundreds of members in over 15 prisons and our  membership continues to grow. We invite all those who agree with our  statement of purpose to join us  and to start a local group in their prison, city, or trailer park. IWW  membership is free to those incarcerated, and is based on income for  those on the outside. We ask supporters to sponsor a prisoner’s  membership for just $5 a month.
Prison Slavery
Incarcerated people are legally slaves as per the 13th Amendment  which abolished “slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment  for a crime”. We are legally slaves. If you’ve been to prison you’d  know we are treated like slaves.
Billions are made annually off our backs. Outrageously priced or  grossly inadequate privatized ‘services’ like health care, food, phone  calls, assault our humanity - they feed us like animals, suck our  families dry, and when sick leave us to die. The government spends as  much as an elite college tuition per person to keep each of us  incarcerated, but this money does not develop us as human beings, reduce  crime or make our communities safer.
They also profit from our labor. At least half of the nation’s 1.5 million  of us imprisoned in the United States have jobs yet are paid pennies an  hour, or even nothing at all. Many of us perform the essential work  needed to run the prisons themselves - mopping cellblock floors,  preparing and serving food, filing papers and other prison duties.  Others of us work in “correction industries” programs  performing work in areas such as clothing and textile, computer aided  design, electronics, and recycling activities. Some of us even  sub-contract with private corporations such as Sprint, Starbucks,  Victoria’s Secret, and many more.
As incarcerated workers, we are some of the most exploited workers in  the country. There is no minimum wage for prison labor. The average  wage is 20 cents an hour, with some states not paying a wage at all. Up  to 80% of wages can be withheld by prison officials. There are very few  safety regulations and no worker’s compensation for injury on the job.  While in prison, we try to earn money to support our families,  ourselves, and pay victim restitution yet these wages prevent us from  that. We believe that as workers we are guaranteed the same protections  and wages as other workers.
We are working to abolish prison slavery and this system that does not correct anyone or make our communities safer.
Industrial Workers of the World
In addition to abolishing prison slavery, we are also fighting to end  the criminalization, exploitation, and enslavement of working class  people in general. We are part of the larger
Industrial Workers of the World
(IWW), a revolutionary union that has been fighting oppressive systems for over one hundred years.
When first founded, the IWW was the only union open to all-  regardless of race, gender or nationality. Fierce campaigns waged by  miners, dock workers and agricultural workers led to signficant gains in  wages and workplace conditions.
Our revolutionary politics and refusal to sell out led to massive and widespread crackdowns by the US government as part of the Red Scare, and beyond.
Despite this, the union persisted and to this day continues to  organize for a new world. Like, IWOC, the IWW is seeing a resurgence,  with membership steadily growing since 2000.
IWOC’s Statement of Purpose
1. To further the revolutionary goals of incarcerated people and the  IWW through mutual organizing of a worldwide union for emancipation from  the prison system.
2. To build class solidarity amongst members of the working class by  connecting the struggle of people in prison, jails, and immigrant and  juvenile detention centers to workers struggles locally and worldwide.
3. To strategically and tactically support prisoners locally and  worldwide, incorporating an analysis of white supremacy, patriarchy,  prison culture, and capitalism.
4. To actively struggle to end the criminalization, exploitation, and  enslavement of working class people, which disproportionately targets  people of color, immigrants, people with low income, LGBTQ people, young  people, dissidents, and those with mental illness.
5. To amplify the voices of working class people in prison,  especially those engaging in collective action or who put their own  lives at risk to improve the conditions of all.
