On the one hand, I hate that some dumb exec had to be conned into greenlighting something by Brian Jordan Alvarez by being told, “it’s like Abbot Elementary meets The Bear” but on the other—more important—hand, English Teacher is really fucking funny.

Back with another drawing for Hispanic Heritage Month!
Meet the second deity from one of Colombia’s legends, La Madre Agra (Mother of Water).
According to legend, she is a deity who takes on the form of a young woman, with flowing blonde hair and a marvelous voice. Like the sirens of Greek mythology, the Mother of Water will choose a song to lure her victims (usually children, who are easier for her to lure) towards a body of water, where she can drag them towards her palace below, drowning them in the process.
I wanted to see how I could take aspects of Madremonte’s design and incorporate that into Madre Agua’s, and I ended up focusing on the leaf/moss outfit, since It supposedly is something the Mother of Water wears. I had fun playing with her pose, and trying out underwater lighting, even having her hands and legs morph into water.
Let me know what you think!
And reminder, commissions are open! DM me for info (since I don't have an official post yet)

I'm Upset so I'm posting about it (like any normal person would)
Basically my family was having a late Christmas with my mom's side because one of my uncles wasn't in town over the actual date. Since our family is small, it only consisted of nine people. Out of those nine people three of us are people of colour (my brother and I were adopted from Colombia and my Aunt is Japanese).
So.
We gave my uncles some seasoned salt and when one of them opened it he was like "what's this, crack cocaine?" and my mom legit said, without missing a beat, something along the lines of "well we did just come back from Colombia!"
...
I feel like I'm overreacting. It was just a joke, right? Except my mother should know that joke isn't acceptable, especially when your kids have had comments like this told around/to/about them for years by classmates, teachers, and strangers alike.
I'm so fucking tired of Colombia (and in connection myself and others from/related to there) being associated with the drug trade. It just further spreads the stereotypes and racist ideas of Colombians (and hispanics in general) being involved with the drug trade.
And that came from my fucking mother.
Idk
TL;DR My mom made a racist joke and I can't tell if I'm just being dramatic
UGH.
