Marry Me
HINATA MEETS A TALL S/O @nekxrizawa
Continuation of Hinata meeting a tall S/O
PART ONE
FLUFF, 920 words
The arena was far more crowded than you expected for a volleyball game, not that you underestimated it or anything it’s just...volleyball hadn’t really ever sprung your interest.
You only ever seemed to have time for one thing in your life and basketball was your first love. It was what you dreamt about, what you thought about, what you worked for, what you woke up wanting, it was your heart.
“Are you sure we can get in...it seems pretty crowded,” you say, as Sugawara led you through the building.
“Don’t worry, we’ll get in.” He gave you a fond smile as he shook his head. Sometimes, even though you’d only had a few interactions with him at the bakery, he treated you like someone he’s known for years. It was...sweet but also a little confusing.
You trusted his judgement, hoping in vain that you weren’t too far from the floor. Knowing from experience players look smaller from the nosebleed section.
It took another five minutes but eventually you were being guided through a set of double doors that hadn’t previously been open only to realize you were standing on the court, literally on it.
“I-” you started, but Sugawara interrupted you.
“We can sit over here. Hinata should be out soon, I texted him.”
“Oh I don’t know if we should bother hi-”
“Sugaaaaaaaaaa!!!!” Came a loud squealing voice, catching you off guard until you turned to see those same big brown eyes and curly red hair you’d had on your mind all day.
“Hinata, I literally just saw you a few hours ago…” he teases, but he allows the guy to hug him tightly anyway.
“Suga, Suga I have amazing news!” he says, not even noticing you’re there.
So much for that first impression, you guess…
“Oh?”
“I met my future wife at your shop today,” he says, bouncing on his feet.
You try very hard not to cough on the water you just drank.
It’s impossible to miss Sugawara’s smile pulling to the side and into a smirk but your gaze flicks back down to Hinata and you swallow.
“Oh really?” he asks, “Did you ask her out, get her phone number, name, anything?”
Hinata’s eyes go wide and then sad as his lips draw into a pout but before he completely loses his form, Sugawara cups his chin, and slowly turns his face to the left where you’re in perfect view. He nearly stops there, but then quickly angles Hinata’s head toward the ceiling so he’s looking more closely at your face than...what was eye level.
“It’s you!” he says, his face flushed red immediately. He looks over you again and then turns back to his friend and whispers, “Suga, am I dreaming?”
Sugawara just shakes his head at him, apparently used to his antics, and points toward some seats on the ground level. “I’ll be waiting over there, you can join me when you’re ready.”
He leaves you alone with Hinata and suddenly your stomach is floaty and you feel a lot more shy than usual. “I uh- sorry again about this morning. Really it was probably my fault. I was trying to beat you to the carrot cake muffins,” you say, hopefully playing everything off as a joke.
“Oh no that’s okay, I um, I’m actually pretty clumsy, though I guess I maybe shouldn’t have told you that- but since I did, do you um, would you maybe like clumsy guys...maybe?” he asks, and it’s so fucking adorable you can’t help but smile and chuckle at his cuteness.
“Sometimes,” you say with a soft nod. “Especially when they’re adorable redheads with a lot of energy and a bright smile...and a love of sports.”
His eyes go wide, “Hey that sounds like me!”
You laugh, “It sure does,” you agree, shaking your head as you move closer to the place where Sugawara is holding a seat for you. Before you get completely out of earshot though, you turn to him and answer, “Play hard today, okay? You can win!”
You weren’t quite sure what kind of teams were playing or how good Hinata actually was, but encouraging him felt like second nature to you even only after a few shared words.
As you waited for the other players to come out and for the game to start Sugawara explained the more basic principles of the game and all the positions. He also never failed to slip in little facts about Hinata to keep your attention.
Just after the first whistle blew after they were done with the lineup, he smiled over at you and then looked down to where Hinata was stretching on the sidelines. “Just wait till you see him fly.”
“Fly?” you ask, but he didn’t say anything further.
Less than a minute into the match you learned what Sugawara was talking about.
Hinata jumped and seemed to climb higher and go farther than even you, who towered over  half a foot taller than him, had managed to do.
“Wow.”
“Yeah, he does that to people.”
“Pop!” The ball shot down on the other side of the court so quickly that it seemed everyone in the stadium were open mouth gasping at the spiked hit.
“Marry me,” you whispered to yourself but you weren’t the only one who heard it.
Sugawara sat next to you laughing, loudly. That is until you poked him in the side with your elbow, heat flushing your face and neck.

Good Old-fashioned Loverboy
three teens who figured it out. . .sorta. . .yeah definitely figured it out
words: 1412
yamaguchi x reader x tsukishima
Tumblr media
No exams, no homework and no practice which was honestly a miracle for the team. Just a regular Friday night for the Karasuno boys and their managers. The 3rd years are planning to go to the cinema, the 2nd years are working together to find an arcade that Tanaka and Noya haven’t been banned from, and two groups of 1st years are doing something different. Yachi, Hinata, and Kageyama were heading to the park for two things; taking photos and volleyball. While Yamaguchi, Tsukishima, and you were heading to town for karaoke.
“This would’ve been much easier if we had picked a place beforehand.” you groaned out to the boys on either side of them. The trio just got off the train and realized none of them had direction to the Karaoke Plaza.
“I can proudly say that it’s not on me this time. Tsukki was in charge of directions for this one. . .” Yamaguchi mumbled out not wanting to take the blame for the lack of directions.
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.” Tsukishima grumbled out, ears lightly tinted pink. It sorta drifted from his mind during the train ride especially with you and Yamaguchi leaning against him, debating on what songs to sing when they got there.
Y/N could only laugh at Tsukishima’s unfortunate call out by Yamaguchi. To save Tsukishima from further embarrassment, they just searched “Karaoke Plaza” and found one about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
After looping around twice around the block, they finally get to the plaza and Y/N payed for the room while Yamaguchi gathered snacks, drinks for them and Tsukishima paid for those because he messed up on the directions.
“A good Karaoke Friday with my boys!” you exclaimed excitedly, walking into the room holding the basket of treats that Tsukishima had you carry.
“Tch. . . it’s not that exciting, nerd” the tall blonde muttered out
“Tsukki, you’re in class 1-4 with us so you’re also a ‘nerd’ along with us” the green headed boy shot back as if it was second nature.
You set down the basket on the middle table near the book and controls while the two others got comfortable and fixed. Once getting their bags and jackets off, Yamaguchi looked for the small tambourines and Tsukishima decided to get the TV going.
Looking through the book, Y/N found the song they were looking for, ‘Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy’ by Queen, it’s been a song on constant repeat for the manager especially when down in the dumps about their crushes. Punching in the American song code into the controller it starts at the song’s second chorus.
Say the word, your wish is my command~
You’ve known these two boys for four years now and it’s been quite the ride for you. You met them during junior high orientation week and you’re happy you did meet this pair. Complete opposites to one another but fit together as if they were final puzzle pieces.
Tsukishima Kei was a tough person to get talking to at first but slowly his tough facade chipped away. The tall blonde boy who is often seen with a frown or a condescending smirk on his face was smiling in the present of someone other than his closest friend.
Yamaguchi Tadashi was shy at first meet and isn’t the biggest people person but had no problem when snickering at others along with tsukishima. For some reason he had no troubles talking to you, he was the first to greet and the first to exchange numbers.
Two generally closed off kids meet another and open up. Sure they had their rough moments but that’s what made them them. You made it easier though and so you became the last actual piece of puzzle that formed the trio.
Two years in, you realized that you started to develop feelings that weren’t just platonic towards the boys. It was confusing and a nightmare figuring it out. You always tried to shove it deep down but it got hard after sometime.
Even more when you notice Tsukishima taking a liking towards Yamaguchi and seeing Yamaguchi giving the same. But you never notice how they looked at you when you looked away. Three friends who didn’t know what to do or say.
C’mon and Get It~
You didn’t know what came over yourself when you noticed Tsukishima glancing at Yamaguchi with a look of affection in his eye.
“Maybe it‘s time to let go” You thought with a sigh before pushing Yams towards Tsukki
Ooh, love~
Yamaguchi was too into his thoughts to hear the sudden sigh from beside him before being pushed towards his best friend, Tsukishima Kei.
His eyes widened from the fast change. Cheeks growing warm from the sudden burst of his personal bubble and the closeness. Looking at each other, it was as if the childhood friends were thinking on the same line.
“Maybe it’s time we finally tell them”
This wasn’t going to be some impulsive decision on their half or at least that’s what they’re telling themselves. Though it’s not like the two didn’t talk about this before with each other. The boys figured out at the end of junior high that they not only like each other but you as well.
So lost in the song you didn’t see the look the friends gave one another. A look that was soft but hesitant yet full of hope and affection.
Feeling a sudden tug at your hoodie, you're pulled between the middle block and pinch server. At the same time the two sing with genuine voices.
ooh, loverboy~
What’re you doin’ tonight, hey, boy?~
Standing there frozen from the line, heat moved to your cheeks and a silly smile slowly appeared on your face.
Write my letter~
Feel much better~
And use my fancy patter on the telephone~
The music is still playing on in the background and hearts racing for the sudden silence between the trio. Tadashi and Kei took a shot in the dark doing this, not really sure if you even like them back but they didn't care. The worst that could happen is you not feeling the same towards the two.
“You know it isn’t funny to mess with me like that, you guys.” you muttered out though your voice held no malice just a tinge of confusion and caution.
“We aren’t joking, idiot.”
“Hey!”
“Just hear us out, please?”
The room didn’t hold an awkward feeling if anything it was calm but loud at the same time.
“We realized that both of us hold feeling for you, y/n” Tadashi sounded so nervous getting his sentence out, “We’re honestly taking ou–” he gets cut off by the tall blonde
“What Tadashi is trying to say is that we both like you and if you don’t feel the same that’s okay, we could just ignore what just happened and move on.” he sounded so uninterested but the speed he spoke at gave away what his tone did not. He was nervous.
“I–” you began to speak but was cut off by Tadashi
“Like Tsukki said, if you don’t feel the same that’s okay.”
“Not like it would be the end of the world–” Kei gets a nudge in the side, tch, “Watch it, Yamaguchi.”
“Sorry, Tsukki.”
“Can I speak now?” you asked softly and gave a smile. The two players give you a nod. You shuffle a bit before clearing your throat.
“Before I was interrupted,” you eyed Tadashi playful, “I was going to say that I like you both as well.” you kept your gaze a bit low, too nervous to look them in the eyes. Taking in a deep slow breath, you gathered enough confidence to look towards Kei, “I like how you take the time out of your day to check on me when you feel like something is wrong,” grabbing his hand before turning towards Tadashi and taking his as well before continuing
“And I like how you let me call at the terrible hour of 3 in the morning just because I couldn’t sleep or I really wanted to talk about something you had no knowledge prior to.”
“So if you need to hear it one more time, I like both of you, Tsukishima Kei and Yamaguchi Tadashi.”
Tumblr media
One Month Later
“Hey Stingyshima, Yamaguchi, why is there a picture of the two of you and Y/N cuddling in the group chat?”
The pinch server could only laugh at his blonde partner because he was the one sent it by mistake.
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.”
“Sorry, Tsukki”

❝𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝗼𝐟 𝐏𝗼𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭❞
➥Chapter Seven
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ‘get together’ was being held at a decent sized club-like venue, and the second Yūji opened the doors, you realized just how packed it was. It was nothing you couldn’t handle, but when you glanced at the boys, you noticed Hajime’s displeased expression.
“Get together my ass,” He grunted, rolling his eyes. Tooru laughed, not hesitating to slap him on the back, gaining himself a dirty look.
“Oh, lighten up Iwa-chan! You’re here with me!” You scoffed, walking in through the doors. “And what are we then? Chopped liver?” The setter just smiled at you in response.
“Kageyama! Look! It’s Oikawa-san!” His smile dropped instantly at Hinata’s exclamation and at Yūji’s laughter. The raven haired setter forced an awkward smile on his face, that was more scary than anything and bowed.
“W-welcome! We’re happy you’re here!” Tooru laughed, his hand on his chest. “Tobio-Chan! I’m sure you are~”
You rolled your eyes at the dramatic brunette and waved to the two underclassmen. “Happy birthday, Hinata! Thanks for inviting us!”
The four or you exchanged pleasantries, and the boys caught up, leaving your eyes to wander around the other party guests. There were many people you didn’t recognize, but your gaze landed on an impossibly tall ravenette.
One with unmistakable, rooster-like bedhead. You felt your breathe leave your lungs at the sight of Kuroo Tetsurō, the very person you’d been talking with. Someone you had, in no way, expected to run into.
Nervous, you tugged on Yūji’s sleeve. “Yū! Emergency! Look!” The blonde’s gaze followed your pointing finger, and he grinned deviously.
“That’s great! Go talk to him, why don’t you?” You recognized the look of mischief on his face and you felt your stomach drop.
“No! Please don’t do anything stupid!”
He did something stupid. Holding you by the wrist, he all but dragged you over to the middle of the dance floor.
“What are you planning?” You hissed, desperately trying to get away. “Aw, lighten up, doll! I won’t do anything too bad!” You snorted, not believing his words in the slightest.
“(Y/N), c’mon let’s dance!” It was probably impossible for him to exaggerate your name any more than he had. You cringed, knowing Kuroo probably heard it.
You didn’t want to avoid him, per say, it was more that you were nervous. You’d never met him in person and the two of you hadn’t even been texting that long and now you were standing not six feet away from him.
Eyes landed on you, and you shot Yūji a withering look at the same time he grinned down at you.
You rolled your eyes, looking away from him, only to meet wide, hazel eyes. Your own eyes widened as you stared into the very eyes of the person you were most nervous on meeting.
“(Y/L/N)?” You waved sheepishly. “Hi, Kuroo.” A silverette gasped loudly, bounding up to you and invading your personal space.
“Woah! You’re Kubro’s mystery girl!” You blinked, stunned into silence. Mystery girl...? “BO! Dude, shut up,” Kuroo sighed, pushing him away.
“Oooh, so he talks about her~?” Yūji asked, not at all helping the situation. You face palmed, desperate to get out of the situation.
A hand gripped your wrist and pulled you out of the club. Your head snapped up, surprised to see Kuroo dragging you away from your... chaotic friend groups.
“Sorry to drag you, but I had a feeling our friends were... well...”
“Going to run with it?” You finished with a laugh. Kuroo chuckled, nodding. “Something like that.” The two of you were now standing in front of the balcony doors, neither of you making a move towards the doors.
“Want to go outside?” You questioned quietly. Your inquiry was met with a lazy grin. “Why not? After you.”
He propped the door open, ushering you out into the humid, night air. The night was still, and despite your nervousness at being along with Kuroo, it put you at ease.
You stared up at the stars, watching as they seemed to dance across the sky before you. “Do you stargaze?” Kuroo’s question broke you out of your reverie, startling you.
“Yeah, I especially love taking night time walks. Do you?” He shook his head, his stare not leaving the sky.
“No, I haven’t, but maybe I will. It’s... nice out here. Well, that could always have something to do with the company, of course,” He stated casually.
Your head snapped to him. You took a second to process his words, before chuckling a little bit. “I could say the same to you. I’ve never really gone star gazing with anyone before.”
His wicked gaze landed on you, and you felt a shiver run down your spine. “How about we get out of here and do some real star gazing then?”
Ordinarily, you’d be a little more than hesitant to go off somewhere with a near stranger, but something about Kuroo was drawing you in.
“Where were you thinking?” His grin widened, matching yours. “C’mon, there’s a park not far from here!”

“a goddess in our midst ”
nishinoya x fem! reader and yaku x fem! reader
genre: fluff. tall reader.
this one goes out to all my 5′8 and up girls, y’all are goddesses and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
Tumblr media
nishinoya
Your height had always been a concern to you, your mind always filled with the idea that boys only liked short girls and it would be weird to date anyone shorter than yourself.
Although, the last three weeks dating Yuu had been nothing like that. Everyday he treated you like a queen, showing you all his love. Even after such a short time you really wanted this relationship to last forever, which was why you were so anxious to meet his team.
Would they think it was weird for the two of you to be dating? Would they tease Noya about it? You prayed they didn’t say anything, knowing that Yuu was just as self conscious about his height sometimes.
“You ready babe?” Noya placed his hand on your back as you stood in front of the gym door, he was trying to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Gulping, you nodded and he opened the door for you. Walking in on balls flying, you tried to guess who was who. The bright orange hair-- Hinata, the nervous adult-looking man with a bun-- Asahi and of course the ‘baldy-- Tanaka.
“Noya-san!” The bubbly orange haired player greeted, his eyes averting to you a slight twinkle flashing over them. “Noya-san is this your girlfriend! She’s so pretty!” Hinata’s screams seemed to have caught the attention of everyone else.
“Yup and she’s all mine.” He grabbed your waist, tugging you closer to him, point at himself and wearing an expression because he was the luckiest guy in the world.
Tanaka came close and got a good look at you, looking back at his friend. He then proceeded to fall to his knees, whispering something about now the two of you could go on double dates with him and Kiyoko or at least once he managed to date her.
“Don’t mind Tanaka, it’s nice to meet you, Nishinoya has talked about you a lot.” The one you assumed to be Daichi stated, causing you to blush and look down to your boyfriend who still wore the widest grin.
It was safe to say that the Karasuno boys loved you and didn’t seem to really care about the height difference between you and Noya. In fact they were more shocked that he managed to snatch someone so gorgeous.
Tumblr media
yaku
Today was the day you were suppose to meet the rest of the Nekoma boys as Yaku’s girlfriend. You’d met Kai before in one of your classes before but that was about it.
“Ready baby?” You nodded in response. He held onto your hand tightly as you walked into the restaurant. The team was having a dinner and Yaku thought it would be a good time to have them meet you.
The two of you wait for the hostess to take you to where the rest of the boys were sitting. He leaned closer to you, “you look really good tonight.” Yaku whispered as your cheeks heated up as your moment was interrupted by a childish cry.
“Yaku-san!” A large looking silver haired boy called out. From his appearance you assumed that was Mori’s underclassmen, Lev. Kai sent a familiar smile and nod.
“Yakkun you finally decided to bring your girlfriend!” Kuroo laughed from the other side of the table. Most of the first year’s eyes widened, not evening knowing their senpai had a girlfriend.
“Guys, this is y/n.” He gestured to you as you made out a small ‘hi.’ They warmed up to you right away, no one really mentioning anything about your height difference. In all honesty, Yaku would’ve kicked their asses at practices if they did.
Only one half Russian first year dared mention anything.
“Hehe, Yaku-senpei, even your girlfriend is taller than you! But I guess you’re both shorties.” He giggled with innocent but as you uncomfortably shifted in your spot Yaku sprung to action.
It didn’t matter that you were in a restaurant, he hand managed to find it’s way to Lev’s side, karate chopping the poor middle blocker and causing him to hunch over.
The table filled with laughter as Kenma muttered something inaudible under his breath (probably something slandering Lev).
“At least Yaku can get a girlfriend.” Kuroo laughed, the rest of them joining in exacpt for Yamamoto who had a bit of a pout.
By the end of the night you were glad Mori brought you along because his team mates were so nice, not really caring about the thing you were most insecure about.
“I love you, Mori, you know that right?” You said in a hushed tone on the way home. He sat just a little but closer to you on the train nodding.
“I love you too.” He leaned forward and the tips of your noses brushed together before your lips touched for a gentle kiss. Although it didn’t last long, considering you were in a public setting, you could feel all the emotion Morisuke poured into it.

Haikyuu boys and some oddly specific crime they’d commit
a/n: I come back and the first thing I write is a shitpost!! enjoy </3 tw for drugs, murder, alcohol and general crime committing xoxo
Karasuno
Daichi- he’s a cop sorry that’s all there is to it man
Suga- Suga has multiple charges of 1st-degree murder against him but they can’t seem to find his identity so he continues committing murder and will continue until he gets caught or ends up murdering enough people to be put in a position of power
Asahi- everyone is probably like “Oh Asahi is innocent” NO. He has learned that his slightly scary face will let him get away with a lot, he is buying alcohol illegally because he looks old enough to, and he’s buying so much other shit and just getting away with it
Nishinoya- This man gives fucking pimp vibes I can just see him in the big leopard print fur coat with a pretty girl in his lap and he calls himself big poppa but no one else will
Tanaka- Drug dealer vibes, probably runs an entire fucking drug ring with his sister and not just a Lil weed these mfkas have the hard shit too like you could probably buy meth from them, he’s not using it but it’s good business
Ennoshita, Kinoshita, and Narita- They literally rob a bank they have an entire scheme and get away with multiple bank robberies and this goes on for MONTHS
Kageyama- We know he’s volleyball smart but otherwise he’s so mfing stupid and I love him for it but he is a chronic shoplifter. Just picks something up and takes it, has walked out of a store without paying for an entire bed set once and got away with it somehow so idk props to him
Hinata- He is the little guy in any heist situation, he fits anywhere so he can sneak in and out the best, he gave himself the stupid ass code name tiny giant but everyone goes with it because somehow he is the best
Tsukishima- armed robbery, but he doesn’t have a gun just a knife like he’s tall and as an attitude, a knife will get him whatever he needs he doesn’t need the gun
Yamaguchi- He runs a catfishing scheme where he pretends to be a naive girl, scams old men out of their money, and then ghosts them and I think it’s what he deserves let him carry on especially because no one would believe it’s him. Also not really like a crime crime but still a crime in a way
Kiyoko- She kills men and I know it, Queen Kiyoko ending the patriarchy one shitty man at a time like she only kills men who deserve it bc some have rights.
Yachi- She’s too anxious to commit an in-person crime so she does a lot of cybercrime, hacking government databases and releasing info to the people, truly the anonymous we deserve
Saeko- She’s running that drug ring with Tanaka, and she loves it because there’s a thrill to it even though yknow she’s dealing literal meth but like its fine plus she loves rocking people’s shit when they get too handsy, which bring me to my next point underground MMA Saeko, like the illegal one with no rules yeah <3
Ukai- this man probably sells all kinda shit to minors that he shouldn’t he is so unbothered a 7-year-old could probably walk in ask for a pack of camels and get them and leave before he noticed what was going on.
Takeda- Did y’all see how scared Hinata was when Takeda gave him that lecture? This dude could kidnap someone and scare them into giving all the information he needed, a legend truly
Aoba Johsai
Oikawa- took steroids one time. And of course in sports, that’s not allowed. But he only did it once and regretted it for months afterward. Never told anyone and was just relieved he didn’t have to piss in a cup and have someone find out.
Matsukawa- Without hesitation, I know this man takes dead people’s bones and sells them on the internet. Has dubbed himself the bone man and he feels so much power when someone buys a femur or sumn. It’s kinda funny honestly he has a hoard of bones to sell, his fave is the pelvis.
Hanamaki- He’s in between jobs because he stole money from his last job, like he said he was sorry he just needed a little extra for gas but was sad to find out that’s a literal crime and he was laundering money.
Iwaizumi- he’s a street racer, like the fast and furious style and it’s so sexy of him like late-night races ugh to be in an expensive fast car with him where he has one hand on my thigh okay that’s enough of that.
Kunimi- Look me in the eye and tell me he does not do drugs. He does and if you don’t believe me you are wrong and I will fight you on this one.
Kyotani- If there is a crime he will commit it for fun. Like he will do it with no hesitation. He has a record longer than twilight and I’m not sure how he is not in prison actually nvm he escaped and is  a wanted criminal lol
Shiritorizawa
Ushijima- Assault, he just reeks of getting into bar fights when he’s absolutely wasted. Like he most likely didn’t start it but he will be finishing it
Tendou- grave robbing, he just goes into the cemetery picked the oldest plots, and gets to digging. Has made thousands on dead people jewelry and probably won’t get caught, like besides the groundskeeper there’s no security he will never stop.
Semi- he breaks copyright laws on the daily. He’s sampling music in his all the time but he’s doing it so sneakily it’s fine its what deserves stream his band on Spotify right now,
Shirabu- His bangs are criminal enough. No, but he has stolen drugs from the hospital before he just wanted to try the Xanax, and yeah he could just write himself a prescription for it nut like it’s so easy to just go get some and no report it so that’s what he did.
Goshiki- y’all want me to say arson don’t you?? Fine. He commits arson multiple times and kills 7 people with fire before getting arrested and he doesn’t even feel bad so in prison he probably fucking runs a gang he is crazy.
Nekoma
Kuroo- he is a capitalist and class traitor and that’s crime enough I don’t care is he’s attractive or rich, He commits crimes daily by just existing but I still love him anyway.
Kai- Could not commit a crime he just wants to garden and live his life. Jk there’s at minimum one body in that garden let him kill a man he deserves it just let him have one dead body
Yaku- he keyed someone’s car once just because they pissed him off. Was it kuroo? Yes. But that’s fine because he also keyed Lev’s car but blamed lev for keying kuroo’s and Kuroo for keying Lev’s. He just wants to watch the world burn.
Kenma- cyberbullying but man he is mean. Like no bars held we will dig into every insecurity he can and that shit hurts and he doesn’t even feel bad about it he will just be as mean as he can if you’re not careful
Lev- his crime is being tall and dumb also doesn’t understand the economy and prints counterfeit money because why can’t we print more money? The government should get on that.
Inuoka- He released all the animals from a zoo, like snuck in one night and just let them all free, I’m surprised the tiger didn’t eat him but hey the animals are free, there’s still some missing uh oh he’s very proud of himself for it. After the rush, he starts sneaking into shelters and freeing all the dogs and cats
Yamamoto and Fukunaga- Have egged a house before, it was Kuroo’s he deserves all this bullying and you can’t stop me.
Date Tech
Aone- Criminal Conspiracy, sure he had an entire foolproof plan to get away with the perfect crime but someone found out, and now his plans are ruined, damn </3 and no one ever suspects the quiet guy either.
Futakuchi- Having a prostitute, he just wanted some company like mans is lonely so he paid a girl to just spend a Lil time with him it’s all good.
Fukurodani
Bokuto- I know we all haha funny laugh at tax evader bokuto and sure maybe he evades his taxes but he’s also committed vehicular manslaughter, he cannot drive and has killed someone with his car maybe even multiple someones but he always drives off in a panic because he doesn’t know what else to do.
Akaashi- Hasn’t actively committed a crime but has been an accomplice in every vehicular manslaughter Bokuto has committed why the fuck does he keep letting bokuto drive? He really needs to stop that.
Konoha- A master scammer he is so convincing everyone gives him money even if they’re a little sus because he’s just that good each scheme is so convincing.
Inarizaki
Kita- He grows weed, you can’t tell me those rice fields are just for rice he’s got all this space he is growing marijuana and selling it, let him do it I want him to be my plug.
Atsumu- "What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier."
Osamu- resisting arrest. He just said no and ran. Granted he shouldn’t have punched the cop in the first place to have to be arrested but like that’s not the point here.
Aran- accidental child abandonment, like he just forgot he was babysitting and left the kid alone for like a day. He felt terrible but he still forgot the kid and now is fearful of parenthood
Suna- owns an illegal weapon, like he just never registered it and keeps it around and would use it if needed Suna please just point the weapon at me maybe
Others
Terushima- Graffiti, he loves painting on the walls of buildings and tagging them, has so much spraypaint and his day isn’t complete if he doesn’t tag at least one building or train car.
Daishou- Public intoxication- he got a little too fucked up and stripped on the street he will forever have to live with everyone knowing he has an ass tattoo like damn bruh
Sakusa- Perjury he simply wanted to get out of court so he said some shit so he could leave granted he lied under oath but whatever, did they ever find out? No, so he’s fine and he’d do it again if it meant he could leave faster. Like sure he was a witness to a murder but bruh he pretends he does not see.
Hoshihumi- driving without a license he simply thought you didn’t need one because why do you need a piece of plastic to say you can drive a car like??? Just know how to drive it.

Note
I have saw your previous post about haikyuu boys personalities turn180 when they are around you. I would absolutely love if you do it for Kageyama and Tsukishima too. (or characters you would like you write too)
haikyuu boys whose personalities would do a 180 when they’re around you (part 2)
includes: kageyama, tsukishima
Tumblr media
kageyama
(okay this was quite hard for me because you ALL know what a chaotic baby boi he is JASJAKSJAKJSKAKSLA also before we get started omg this baby’s birthday is the day after mine!!)
so kageyama’s naturally intimidating
i mean have you seen him try to smile??
but with you, oh, the baby tries his damn best to be an ideal boyfriend.
it’s so cute and endearing, cause you see how he kinda gets around you.
even if he messes up just a teeny tiny bit, he will apologize
please let him know his efforts are valid, bb boy is doing his best
“GWAH-!” hinata once again receives too late and gets another ball to the face.
“BOKE!” kageyama almost growls, fanning himself with the collar of his shirt. “get up and help me, i need to get this perfect by the end of the practice.”
hinata grumbles and scrambles off the maple floor, but does a double take at the setter’s words.
“did... did you just say you need my help?”
the rest of the team hears it too. they’re all staring at him, and kageyama fights the urge to punch something, particularly an orange-haired freak.
“i did, boke. now get up before i follow up that ball with another.”
“kageyama,” hinata pops a mentos and runs back to the net, “what do you even need to practice for? there isn’t a match until next month-”
“or is tobio-kun trying to impress a special someone?” sugawara raises a cocky eyebrow. the vice-captain knows what his successor’s trying to do.
“wha- sugawara-san- i-” kageyama stutters on his words.
“OH HE IS!” tanaka and nishinoya bounce around him. “TOBIUO’S ALL GROWN UP! HE’S A BIG BOY!”
they tackle him in a hug, and hinata follows after, leaping in and cheering for kageyama. yamaguchi and ennoshita pull asahi in a bit quite harshly, and the ace accidentally tugs both daichi and sugawara along. tsukishima tries to sass about how the great king has his own queen now, but sugawara shushes him and yanks him onto the pile of screaming volleyball boys.
amongst all the screaming, the laughter, the teasing, and the shouts of pain because BOKE HINATA BOKE YOUR FOOT IS IN MY FACE-
“hello?”
they all turn to you, standing at the gym gates with an eco-bag full of milk cartons.
god damn, you look like an angel to kageyama. (and it’s not just because you’re holding a load of his favorite drink.)
“kageyama-kun, is that her?”
kageyama smiles. it comes to him genuinely. it’s like once he sees you, the weight on his chest is gone. (quite literally, because the team takes this as their cue to scramble their way off kageyama).
“yeah. that’s my girl.”
“hi bubs!” you grin and hold out the eco-bag. “i got you some refreshments.”
“hi babe,” he sits up and takes the bag from your hands, and presses a kiss to your knuckles. “you didn’t have to get me these.”
“it was on sale, anyways,” you turn red at his public display of affection.
hinata makes his way to you, stars in his eyes as he shakes your hand. “hello! i’m hinata-kun, nice to meet you, kageyama’s girlfriend!”
you smile back and eagerly shake his hand. “i’m y/n, nice to meet you all!”
nishinoya and tanaka are in tears. they kneel down in front of kageyama, who turns horribly red.
“KAGEYAMA-SENPAI!!” they wail. “WE DIDN’T THINK YOU’D GET A GIRLFRIEND BEFORE US! AND YOU TREAT EACH OTHER SO WELL! YOU HAVE OUR RESPECT KAGEYAMA-SENPAI”
“s-senpai?!” kageyama’s eyes widen. “get-get off the damn floor! the both of you being single has nothing to tdo with me! the two of you are just idiots!”
he turns to you, his cheeks burning. “t-that’s noya-san and t-tanaka-san, they’re just jealous... that i.... have such a lovely and supporting girlfriend.”
your heart melts at his words.
meanwhile, sugawara-san hoots and claps for his first-year setter. “kageyama-kun, nice!”
kageyama turns impossibly redder. “i’m s-sorry about them, babe.”
you laugh shyly, and brush a hand through his hair to calm him down. “bubs, they’re just happy for you. i’m happy for you too, you’ve always done your best to make me smile.”
hinata pipes up before kageyama can react. “he really has been trying, y/n-chan! he wanted to impress you with his tosses earlier! he wouldn’t stop being so nervous abou-”
a volleyball collides with his face. needless to say this story ends nearly quite the way it began, only with our precious blueberry boy smiling just a little bit brighter.
Tumblr media
tsukishima
okay, this dude has a big bro. he was taught how to treat a lady.
you cannot change my mind that he’s a gentleman
he loves you w all of himself
has this inner conflict of whether to keep his cocky self around his team when he’s with you
or just be a simp and snarl at anyone who teases him for it
 “tell us about her!”
“well, she’s pretty cool. and smart. she’s beautiful and-“
“yamaguchi, urusai.”
“ah!- gomen, tsukki. yachi-san’s just so pretty i can’t help complimenting her.”
“oi, tsukishima!” hinata chomps into a meat bun. “don’t tease yamaguchi for simping for his girlfriend! at least he has one.”
tsukishima’s eyebrows narrow. “what are you insinuating, shrimp?”
sugawara points at him with his chopsticks. “when are you getting a girlfriend?”
before tsukishima can answer, yamaguchi pipes up.
“tsukishima already has one! she’s super sweet... and funny, and... oh no.”
tsukishima chokes on his food and turns to yamaguchi. yamaguchi’s eyes widen and he whispers a sorry before the first-years and second-years let out a collective scream of suprise.
guess it’s too late to tell him to shut up.
“TSUKISHIMA-KUN YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?” hinata screams. Kageyama spits out his water.
“tsukishima, why didn’t you tell us?” nishinoya karate-chops him on the head. “what is she like? tell us! tell us! T E L L  U S”
“i don’t have to tell any of you airheads anything,” he grumbles, trying to will himself not to blush.
“if you won’t tell us, we’ll just ask yamaguchi! yama-yama! is tsukishima a simp?”
yamaguchi turns red and stutters. “i-i-i can’t tell you anything! ju-ju-just ask her, she’s coming over today- oh no! oh, no, no, no, no, no, no!” he buries his face in his hands.“i spoiled the suprise! y/n-san’s gonna be saaaaaaad!”
tsukishima rolls his eyes. “yamaguchi, urusai. i can always just pretend i’m surprised.”
everyone falls silent.
yamaguchi feels tears of joy. “tsukishima... you would do that for y/n-san?”
tsukishima furrows his eyebrows. “yeah. i wouldn’t wanna get shortcake’s effort to go to waste-”
there’s a knock on the gym doors. yamaguchi aggressively shushes everyone, then pushes his best friend a little too harshly to open the door.
“who is it- shortcake?”
he tries his best to pretend he’s shocked, but he’s met face-to-face with a dinosaur plushie just as tall as he is.
“surprise!” you smile, placing the stuffed animal down and hold your arms out.
tsukishima really is surprised. his features soften as the corner of his lips quirk up.
“shortcake,” he pulls you in for a hug. “what’s all this?”
“congrats on your win! you were fire!” you grin.
“you don’t have to say that. it’s fine. but thank you for the gifts.”
“Y/N-SAAAAAN!”
“yama-yama!” you run to your friend and bear hug him. “i saw you too! you were badass!”
“b-badass??” he blushes. “pshaw, no, i just stayed on the court for a while-”
“don’t say that! the both of you were great!”
“shortcake, huh?” hinata glares at tsukishima. “you just call everyone who isn’t taller than you a shorty, huh?”
tsukishima smirks, and snakes an arm around your waist, pulling you close and pecking you on the lips. “what’s wrong with enjoying the little things in life?”

KageHina HCs because I said so:
Hinata started a growth spurt halfway through their second year of high school and got extremely excited because: !!! finally!!! i can kiss my dumb boyfriend without having to drag him down by his collar!!!
but then Kageyama hit a growth spurt only weeks after. Hinata got so mad that he didn’t talk to him for a week.
(Kageyama still teases him about that years and years down the line, all the way until they’re old and gray and not quite as tall anymore.)
Kageyama thinks Hinata’s nose is adorable. it’s tiny and squishy and Kageyama always bobs it. like... always. Hinata pretends he doesn’t like it but he thinks it’s cute.
Hinata really, really likes playing with Kageyama’s hair. he’s also kind of jealous??? because damn. his boyfriend doesn’t do anything to his hair but it’s always so goddamned silky. he’s jealous but at the same time: !!! silky!!! hair!!! beautiful!!! boyfriend!!!
Hinata always goes out of his way to compliment Kageyama, because he gets all blushy and angry and cute. Kageyama hates it. he’s not cute, dammit!
“AND THEN I’LL BE LIKE GWAHHH AND YOU’LL BE LIKE POWWWW AND I’LL BE LIKE FUCK YEAH THAT’S MY BOYFRIEND!!!”
“... dumbass.”
(he likes it when Hinata makes those weird sound affects of his. at first he doesn’t understand a single thing he’s saying but eventually Hinata will say something that doesn’t make sense at all and everybody will be like: ??? what??? but meanwhile Kageyama will be next to him like: yeah, dumbass, i thought so too.)
nicknames. so many nicknames. including, but not limited to: dumbass, idiot, beanpole, shrimpy, my decoy, my setter, king, queen, and my ace.
sometimes when it’s raining they’ll just be outside dancing in the rain. they can’t dance for shit, and Hinata definitely has two left feet, but they dance nevertheless. their volleyball trainer hates them for it.
Kageyama cuts and files Hinata’s nails for him.
they move in together after Hinata comes back from Brazil. their friends are astonished that their house hasn’t imploded yet.
they have a cat. they have many cats. and they give them the dumbest names in the world. literally. one is named volleyball.
EVERYTHING IS A COMPETITION. WHO CAN HUG BETTER? COMPETITION. WHO CAN SAY THE CHEESIEST ROMANTIC LINES? COMPETITION. WHO CAN PLAN THE BETTER DATE? COMPETITION.
Hinata cannot cook. the one time he tries, he burns the pan, somehow manages to get tomato sauce on the ceiling, stains literally every single surface in the kitchen, and almost burns down the entire apartment. Kageyama refuses to let him anywhere near the kitchen after that, because at least he can cook without destroying all of the cutlery.
Hinata can bake though. he’s a hella good baker. Kageyama will never admit it, but he is absolutely addicted to Hinata’s milk chocolate chip cookies.
Kageyama is a clean freak. Hinata is decidedly... not. every few days Kageyama just rapidly rage-cleans the entire house until everything is sparkly clean and organized, but in a few days everything will be messy again.
unsurprisingly, Hinata is a cuddler. surprisingly, Kageyama is an even larger cuddler than him.
Kageyama is... very oblivious. extremely oblivious. most of the time, he doesn’t even realize he should be jealous, so surprisingly, with his much higher eq, Hinata is the one that gets jealous. who can blame him though? Kageyama is Very Pretty (tm), Very Oblivious (tm), and needs to be protected at all costs.
... that isn’t to say that Kageyama doesn’t do the same. he can and will fight you for his tiny, ridiculously muscled volleyball boyfriend.
Hinata loves Kageyama’s eyes. actually they both love each other’s eyes. by love i mean love. they just love each other’s eyes.
Kageyama can’t swim. Hinata teaches him, only to get distracted by his boyfriend’s abs, biceps, and calves.
when Hinata’s anxieties will rise up again, Kageyama will stroke his hair and his back and sing him to sleep. Hinata never says anything about it, since he knows that Kageyama is a little embarrassed by it, but secretly he really likes Kageyama’s rough singing voice. he really appreciates his boyfriend doing that for him, and hopes that Kageyama knows that. (he does.)
every year on the day of Kazuyo’s death, Kageyama will wake up and feel like a husk of himself. Hinata will hold him and hold him tight until Kageyama can bear to breathe and face the world again.
the Hinata’s meet Kageyama for the first time in their first year of high school, because they were practicing at home in the dark, and it started to rain, and somehow, they had drifted towards the mountain in their volleyball practice. they take one look at his oddly endearing surly mood and his barely there wobbly smiles and decide to adopt him. Natsu practically adopts him as her new older brother in the first hour. Kageyama is overwhelmed because ‘oh no there are more overly excited orange-haired Hinatas’.
Hinata gets Kageyama a stuffed milk carton on their first birthday together. Kageyama tells him it’s dumb but he carries it carefully, almost as if he think it will break in his fingers. Hinata sees the thinly hidden smile on his lips and calls it a success.
almost 70% of the time their dates will turn into impromptu volleyball practices.
Kageyama buys Hinata a lot of sunflowers. he just can’t help it. every time he sees one he can’t help but think of his sunshine boyfriend and great, now he just has to buy it.
they’re so in love it actually physically pains everybody in the vicinity. they’re domestic with three c’s.
they’ve just won the gold in the olympics. their teammates are sobbing, the lights are blinding, and Kageyama looks so beautiful standing there, black hair glimmering gold, blue eyes stark against the background, his lips pulled into a wild smile. he’s sweaty and panting, but he is the most beautiful thing Hinata has ever seen.
“we did it,” Kageyama says to him. “we’re invincible.”
then and there, Hinata thinks: this is the man i want to spend the rest of my life with.
veins trembling with adrenaline, palm still stinging from that last spike, Hinata Shouyou leans in close until he is hopelessly intertwined with the love of his life. “marry me.” he says, quiet, two words meant for two ears alone.
“...what?” Kageyama Tobio says, voice incredulous, arms shaking where they hold him close. Hinata doesn’t have a ring. He doesn’t have a fancy, candle-lit dinner or a bouquet of roses.
“marry me.” he says again, voice stronger, looking up with blazing eyes.
“wh-wha- you-” he splutters, quickly turning bright red beneath the lights of the stadium. Hinata laughs.
“that’s not a no.” he teases.
(Kageyama says yes, later, in the private comfort of their home, gold medals gleaming on their shelves. they don’t have a ring, yet. that’s okay. they’ve got each other.)

KARASUNO x READER: Once Upon A Pottery
Tumblr media
Whenever you have time, you always visit the pottery club and make at least one pot before going home. But today you were so immersed in making different types of pots that you haven’t even noticed the blue sky turned to orange.
“Oh crap! Takeda sensei! Totally forgot about it.” you always go home late that Takeda sensei, the adviser of the volleyball club entrusted you with the keys of the other rooms his holding. So without cleaning yourself first, you ran to the faculty room to find him and when you were there, he wasn’t. “He’s probably in the covered gym for volleyball club.”
“Oh yeah. Thanks sensei!” you said and ran off to the covered gym, clay all over your clothes and some are on your face.
When you’re getting nearer and nearer the gym, you can hear how chaotic this club is. You’re right on the door when you confirmed that yeah, they’re indeed chaotic.
“ROOOOOLINGGGG THUNDERRRR!!!” The one with dyed bangs screamed while rolling on the floor. You want to laugh so badly but that would be rude.
“Noya-senpai! Teach me the rolling thunder!” The tangerine cutie pie said to that short guy too who screamed rolling thunder. His eyes are sparkling, wow.
“Hinata boke! Position yourself! It’s your turn to receive!” that intimidating guy screamed to the cutie tangerine. Wews.
“Whatever Kageyama. You’re always grumpy. You’re gonna get wrinkles at a very young age.” Tangerine said.
“He’s saying you’re old King.” The tallest one said.
“Tsukki!” the cute green haired guy said to the tall one.
“Oh shut up Yamaguchi.” he replied and walked past me. Uhh...hi I’m right here.
They all so noisy that they didn’t even notice you until they were throwing balls to each other. Are they playing dodgeball but spiking it to each other? W-what is this place?
The ball almost hit you but your reflexes were fast that you suddenly ducked.
“Oh! A cute girl appeared!” The bald guy yelled and they suddenly are walking towards you like you’re their prey.
Ok mom...I’m scared.
You were chanting all prayers that you could remember when an angel suddenly appeared in front of you and blocking the predators.
“Hi, how can I help you?” Oh my gosh. Such sweet voice. Such beauty. What a queen. “Hello?” she repeated.
“Oh I’m sorry. Uh is Takeda sensei here?”
“No. He’s at the back at the moment.”
“Oh thank you. I’ll just see him personally.” You said and she just nodded and continued on folding the jerseys in the corner of the gym with another black haired guy helping him.
You took another glance in the gym and they all look like they’re having fun. Oh to be in that group.
You were looking for Takeda sensei when you saw him talking to the other three tall guys. The three looked so stressed, tired and scared? But why though?
“Y/n?” you snapped out and jog towards Takeda sensei.
“Sensei.” You greeted and bowed also to the three guys.
“Oh these are the third year members of the volleyball club. Daichi, Asahi and Suga. Boys this is y/n” Sensei introduced his students to you. You smiled and they smiled back too.
“Oh well. We’ll go ahead to the gym sensei. It’s nice meeting you Y/n” Daichi said and you just nodded and smiled to him and suddenly you saw him blushed or you were just imagining things? You just shrugged it off.
“Here is the key sensei. I’m sorry I turned it over so late. I was so immersed in doing some pots and I tried doing miniatures now.”
“Oh that’s good.” Sensei nonchalantly said.
“What’s wrong sensei?” You asked as if you could do something.
“Uh well. The volleyball team is so stressed out with the tournament coming.” You literally made a face when Sensei said they were stressed out when you clearly remembered that they were so chaotic a while ago.
“Oh is that so...” You honestly don’t even know what to say after that. You see that is why you don’t ask things! Stupid y/n!
“Anyways you look like you had fun with pottery club huh.”
You nodded excitedly as Takeda sensei pointed that out. He just laughed and then suddenly stopped. So you stopped as well.
“What’s wrong sensei? Did your bones crack? Is it signs of aging? What’s wrong?”
“Take them with you!” You were taken aback when he yelled that.
“Excuse me sensei but what? What am I taking? Who’s them? I am not kidnapping anyone just to let you know.”
“The volleyball club! They need to refresh. They need a new environment. They need a day off.” He got so excited that you can’t even react properly. You just stared at him for a few seconds and then he talked again. “Pottery is fun, isn’t it Y/n?”
“Uhh sensei why are you looking at me like you’re planning something evil?”
“Let’s go!” He suddenly said and dragged you towards the gym.
All the boys suddenly stopped whatever they were doing when Takeda-sensei and you showed up in the gym.
“Sensei I didn’t know you’re into youngsters?” The blonde coach said. With all due respect I wanna punch this coach’s throat.
“Uhh no.” Sensei suddenly let go of your hand like as if he got chills.
“Jeez sensei you hurt my feelings.” You muttered. Obviously you were kidding and Noya and the bald guy got it first so they put their arms around your shoulder and ruffled your hair.
“I like this kid!” the bald guy said. “But of course not in that way Kiyoko-san. You’re my queen and I will never stop loving you my queen.”
Again, you made a face when he said that. Are guys usually this cheesy?
“Uhm, Tanaka, Noya I think you should not put your arms on a lady’s shoulder.” Daichi said, worry is painted all over his face.
When the duo did let you go, you said thank you to Daichi that he was the only who noticed it and he suddenly scratched his nape and turned to the side. “You’re welcome”
“What was it Daichi?” The tall guy with a bun asked Daichi and he sort of panicked.
“Uhh no-nothing.” He composed himself and clapped his hands. “Boys line up. Takeda-sensei has an announcement to make.”
Oh you’re the captain? You didn’t say that but sort of signed language it to him? You just had an eye contact and did weird actions with your hands that you personally doesn’t even know how he understood it.
He still replied with a shy smile and nodded.
“I know you all guys are stressed out because the tournament is coming and if we’ll just keep on practicing in that state we will not achieve anything. So I thought that we should take a day off.” And then that’s where the team suddenly started to make a noise.
Like...
“Day off? We don’t need that. We’re perfectly fine.”
“W-what’s day off?”
“Does that mean, no balls for a day?”
“Ohhh yas! Movie marathon, guys?”
“I probably going to taste every kind of ice cream in coach Ukai’s store.”
“Huh...I do need a day to wash all of my laundry.”
“Who wants to go to the temple and make a prayer?”
“So it’s a day of tossing myself? That sounded wrong. So a day tossing my own self? That didn’t sound right either.”
“As long as I can have a rest not seeing and hearing these idiots for a day, I’m perfectly fine with it.”
Y’all have to be kidding me. You turned towards Daichi and you can see how he’s smiling awkwardly looking at you and like conveying that “Well this is my team and yes they’re full of idiots.” So you laughed all of a sudden.
“What’s wrong y/n?” Sensei asked and you just shook your head saying nothing.
You can see that Suga and Asahi are eyeing you and Daichi so you stood straight. And you can see that sly smile of Suga and Asahi.
“That’s not bad sensei. We do need to relax.” coach ukai said.
“Perfect! That’s why tomorrow we’re going to y/n’s pottery studio! Her family owns one!”
“Ye---excuse me what?” That took you a double take. They’re going to what now?
“Yes! We’re going to your studio tomorrow if that’s fine?” Sensei asked like as if you do have a choice.
You roamed your eyes to the boys who’s waiting for your answer and ended up having eye contact with Daichi. He smiled at you genuinely.
“Well I don’t have a choice do I.” And the boys cheered.
You heard that it’s their first time doing pottery. Hinata and Kageyama even never heard of it before.
“So that’s why you look like that. I thought you’re just a messy eater.” Tsukishima said to you. By now you know their names especially Tsukishima who gets on your nerves.
You turned to Daichi drinking water and asked, “Daichi can I at least kick his balls?” The man you asked is now coughing with the water he was drinking.
You stayed in the gym for a while and had fun talking and playing with them. You also gave instructions on how to get to your studio. In just a blink of an eye it’s already night. All of the members are going home and keeps on mentioning on how they’re so excited to make pots tomorrow.
You are walking with the third year boys until the gate when Suga suddenly said that Asahi and he left something in the gym and they need to get it back and both you and Daichi should go ahead.
“We do?” Asahi asked and Suga elbowed him. The poor big guy almost coughed blood.
After the long silence, Daichi talked, “Uhhh…I’ll take you home? Oh crap that didn’t sound right”
You looked at him, your brow raised and he panicked.
“Cute” you muttered.
“W-what?”
“Nothing.” You started to walk and he was left behind so you turned around and asked him. “I thought you’re taking me home, Captain?” You wish it was still daylight to see Daichi’s blushing face. You love to see him blush, that’s why you teased him the whole day.
On the way home you both talked about how he knows you ever since. He always see you in the pottery room club alone and sometimes he also sees you walking home alone. He was so shy telling you that he wanted to walk you home but you may found him creepy, so he didn’t. And you also sharing that you noticed him as well who’s always chasing that crazy duo, Kageyama and Hinata whenever they’re around the principal and you also mentioned that time when you were at the stairs and you witnessed how the wig of the principal flew and landed on Daichi’s head. Both of your laughs are loud and it was a beautiful sound.
It was indeed your first interaction but it seemed like the two of you knew each other for a long time. And you like it. You like his company and you don’t mind having his company again.
The day has arrived when the Karsasuno team is going to learn pottery in your studio. Its weekend and you already got your parents’ permission. They were actually delighted to know that a lot of people wanted to learn pottery.
You didn’t expect that the whole team would be there. Even Tsukishima is present. They look cute with casual clothes. You looked at Daichi, not bad, indeed a captain. You hide your smirk when you noticed Suga and Asahi were looking at you with their evil smiles again.
You took them to a large room. The tools and equipment are already. As they walked in, they adored the room first and wowed on every finished pottery products your parents displayed in the room.
You noticed how the third years including Kiyoko are whispering to each other and like encouraging Daichi to do something. You just shrugged, its none of your business anyways.
You tried to demo the simplest thing anyone can do. You tried to do a small bowl and you also explained it’s up to them on whatever they want to do. You just did the demo on how to wet the clay and the pressure of the fingers, the way you turn the table. Whatever they’re products will end up, it’s ok because it’s their first time.
They started to try it, you can see their smiles and hear their laughs.
Kageyama and Hinata trying to compete to each other and convincing you to judge who got the prettiest product later, you just laughed and nodded.
“Noya look. It’s like penis.” Tanaka called out. Everybody was quiet and just looking at them but they were dense so Noya of course respond, “Yes! It is indeed a penis!”
You laughed so hard and Daichi just slapped his forehead.
Everybody is enjoying pottery and you said to yourself that you won’t mind this kind of dumbasses coming over every weekend for lessons. You saw Daichi getting serious with his work. Frowning and focusing on whatever he was doing. You can vouch that whatever he is doing, it doesn’t look like a real thing. But at least he’s working hard for it.
You planned on scaring him from the back but a better plan popped in your head.
You stood behind him and leaned on him. He flinched and that made you smile, you really like teasing him. You tucked some strands of your hair behind your ear and put your palm over his large hand. “You’re too tense…” you looked at him and whispered,”…Captain.”
You looked at each other for a few seconds and you he suddenly smirked. W-what’s he thinking? That startled you because that is not his usual reaction.
He leaned to you closer. Like there’s just half an inch gap on your faces. “You do love to tease me…” he looked at your lips and back to your eyes, “…y/n”
You flinched and walked to the front to demo something else but you were blushing and shaking so much so you excused yourself and when you went out, you leaned on the wall of the room. You can still hear them talking.
They’re teasing him so much. All of them except the first years are cheering for Daichi.
“C-captain. Are you ok?” You can hear Hinata asking.
“Sugawara senpai! Captain isn’t moving anymore!” The panick on Hinata’s voice is recognizable.
Suga and Asahi just laughed.
“So you already made a move huh, Daichi. So bold of you to do that right in front of us.” Suga teases him.
“Apparently Daichi has been liking her since we were 2nd years. He once saw her in the pottery club, orange skies. Usual scenes that you see in movies when they fall in love.” Asahi added.
“He was just too shy to ask her because he’s stupid.” Kiyoko said.
You bit your lower lip. He liked me that long?!
You heard a chair screech. “I-I was an ass. Wasn’t I? Why did I do that? Now what will she think?! She will not talk to me anymore! Now that we became friends, I did this stupid shit and---“
“Captain! Captain! Relax! I can see that y/n likes you. I’m not sure about the romantic way but she does like you.” The green haired said. Yamaguchi my boy!
“You think?” Daichi genuinely asked.
“I’m on Yamaguchi for this one. Yesterday you two communicate using eye contact. You don’t even need to speak words. It was weird but you both have connection. A weird one at that.” Tsukishima finally have a good thing to say!
You inhaled and exhaled. Composing yourself and act like you didn’t hear anything.
When you went in, everyone was quiet and they suddenly sat on their chairs and continued their work. If you haven’t heard them talking you might be suspicious on why they’re quiet because they’re not usually like this.
“Are you all finish?” You asked them and they all nodded at the same time. You laughed because it looked like you were teaching kids. “Ok well you all can take that home. A souvenir from me and maybe a good luck charm for the upcoming tournament?”
They all cheered and everybody was so happy with their finished product.
When everyone was outside, Daichi and you are left in the room. You just didn’t mind him because he was helping you tidy things up.
He handed you a cute saucer that he made. He is also holding one. Aww he made a pair.
“A souvenir from me to you as well. I’m sorry by the way of what happened a while ago…uhhh I kinda just---“you cut him off because obviously he’s too shy to ask you out so you just rolled your eyes.
“If you win this spring interhigh against Aoba Johsai. Want to go have a dinner with me?”
He just looked at you, frozen and just blinking there every second. Cannot believe on what he just said.
“Uhh…and if we lose?” he was hesitant to ask.
You walked towards him and looked at him in the eyes and confidently said, “I know you won’t.” and clicked the saucer he gave me to the saucer he was holding, like we were making a toast.
“You don’t need my good luck. Have fun on the court, Captain Sawamura.”

Marry Me
Short ficlet where Hinata meets a tall S/O
Open-Ended, FLUFF, 750 words. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS @nekxrizawa
“Don’t be sold out, don’t be sold out, don’t be-” you chant to yourself as you jog toward your destination. Every morning if you were even two minutes late your favorite bakery would sell out of the carrot cake muffins you love so much. You didn’t allow yourself to cheat on your diet very often but one carrot cake muffin with a perfectly thick glob of cream cheese frosting on top was your guilty pleasure.
It was probably best that you were late quite a bit and deprived of your favorite sweet.
Your trainer would kill you.
You rush through the door, not particularly paying attention to where you were going because, y’know, muffin… but before you could get to the register to see if any remained, you instead managed to get a small head of fluffy red hair half buried in your chest.
It took far longer than it should have for you to overcome the shock and step back but when you did you saw the most adorable guy standing in front of you just gaping.
“Oh I’m sorry… I didn’t see you there,” you say, feeling your own embarrassment heat at your neck. “I really should pay more attention...I was just hungry and y’know, muffins--” you trail off realizing he hasn’t said anything yet.
He seemed to be frozen for a moment until he sputtered a bit, stepped back putting even more space between you before seriously doing elevator eyes all the way up and down your frame with a gaping mouth.
It’s hard not to be insecure about your height on most days, though the fact that you play a professional sport eases the worry for sure, still...you imagine anyone would be uncomfortable in your position. “Umm...are you okay?”
“Marry me,” he says, it’s a small whisper but you’ve always had exceptional hearing.
You can’t help but chuckle, surely you misheard?
“You’re soooo tall!!” he says, and normally it makes you flinch but there’s this awestruck quality to his gaze and you can’t help but flush instead.
‘I-uh, thanks?”
“Here! For running into you...I’m sorry, please just take them, he says, handing you something with a thump before dashing off behind you and out the door with a beet red face.
You shrug to yourself imagining the situation is over until you glance into the pastry box he left behind and find three carrot cake muffins with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting.
You swallow, make your way to the front to order your morning coffee. The barista starts to make it as you chew your lip, hesitating.
“Shoyo Hinata,” the soft man behind the register tells you.
“Oh-umm?” you answer, not sure the words are what you think they are and not wanting to give yourself away regardless.
“His name, it’s Shoyo Hinata, professional Volleyball player. He’s an old friend so he stops by every morning to order...well that,” he answers, pointing toward the box in your hands.
You flush bright red realizing that he’s caught you thinking, daydreaming, mostly being confused by his friend and it probably won’t stay a secret long. Friends tell one another things like that, right? It’s been so long since you had real friends outside of your supposed teammates and coaches you’re not sure anymore.
Wait…”Volleyball?”
The man had a very gentle smile and he laughed with his whole body, “Yeah, volleyball. Don’t worry, he’s full of surprises.”
“I bet,” you say aloud, before you can stop yourself.
“He’s playing later today at the TMG, I could get you in if you wanted…”
You look up at him in confusion as he passes your coffee over the counter. “Why?”
“Well for Hinata, I’ve known him long enough to recognize the admiration in his eyes. For you, because you seem like a nice girl and also maybe a little lonely,” he says bluntly, but with a softness in his eyes that makes you feel like he’s not mocking you he’s just genuinely concerned.
You introduce yourself with a firm handshake because you don’t know any other way and he replies with the same warm smile, “Sugawara Koshi. It’s very nice to meet you. I’ll be leaving around four if you wanna join me for that game.”
You nod and throw down a few bills left over in your wallet before rushing out the door behind you, trying to catch your breath.
‘Did that really just happen?’ you think to yourself, but you’re not really sure.
You guess you’ll find out at four o’clock.

Dare Ya
Tatsu meets Tsukishima: angry big sister
Tumblr media
There are some things older siblings can do that other can’t. First of all older siblings get to take care of their younger siblings. The older gets to watch them grow up. The older gets to tease the ever loving shit out of their younger sibling.
That’s their job and hearing someone else do it will send their blood boiling- that’s if they are a good sibling at least.
“Hey Tobio.” A voice called from the doors of the gym. The Karasuno volleyball team swung their heads towards the voice.
“What?” Her younger brother asked with a blink.
“You left your lunch at home Iwachan had to drive me so I could get here early for you.” Tatsu responded walking in to pass the box of food to her younger brother.
“Oh. Thank-you Tatsu.”
“Who’s that?” Yamaguchi asked quietly to the third years who simply shrugged. “Kageyama?”
“What?” Both responded. Tastu laughed.
“This is my sister who else would it be?” Tobio asked curiously.
“YOU HAVE A SISTER?” Tanaka and Nishinoya yelled quickly followed by a loud “Huh” From everyone else.
“So the king has a sister wonderful.” Tsukishima muttered. Tatsu’s head snapped towards him eyes now cold and hardened.
“What did you say?” She asked coldly.
“Tatsu don’t.” Tobio pleaded quietly.
“I said the king of the court has a sister... wonderful.” Tsukishima repeated loudly.
A grin slowly formed on Tatsu’s face, the similarities between both Kageyama’s showing very evidently in her evil gleam.
“Say it again. I dare ya.” She took a step forward, the tall first year looked down at the girl who was less than ten centimetres shorter than him. Her fist began to clench slowly. Tobio’s hand gripped her wrist.
“Tatsu don’t.” He said with a harsh tone. “Please sis he’s not worth it he’s just stupid.”
“I can tell.. what’s your name beanpole?”
“Tsukishima Kei.”
“Well Tsukishima Kei, if I ever hear that you called him that again I’ll remind you that I’m the mother fucking queen and I will beat. your. ass.”
“Sure sure.”
Tatsu snarled and turned away giving her bother a sweet grin before ruffling his hair and making her way to leave.
“Let me know at lunch if you want me to wait for you today.” Tatsu said with a wave as she went out the door.
“So um. You have a sister?” Yachi started.
“Two both older. Miwa she’s a hair and make up artist and Tatsu is a third year here.” Kageyama replied.
“You and Tatsu could be twins man.” Tanaka yelled.
“We get that a lot.”
“She’s tall, does she play any sports?” Daichi.
“Figure skating and dancing mainly. Used to play Volleyball.”
“What position?” Hinata gleamed.
“Setter obviously. Why are you all suddenly interested?”
“It’s just odd is all we didn’t know you had a sister and a scary one at that.” Noya admitted.
“Scary?” Tobio’s head tilted to the side wanting him to explain.
“Well she did just threaten Tsukishima.” Yamaguchi said.
“Do anger issues run in the Kageyama family?” Ennoshita said.
“She’s protective of me. Always has been.” Was all Tobio said before leaving to get ready for classes.
“She’s quite pretty.” Asahi admitted.
“Kageyama is a mirror image for her does that not throw you off?” Noya joked.
“Now it does.” The third years laughed.
“For the record Tsukishima maybe watch your mouth in case Tatsu beats you up... for some reason I think she would.” Suga said shakily.
“The high and mighty king has a body guard now.”
A distant boom sounded.
“WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY?”

Ruins Left Behind - Sasuhina Month 2020 - Day 7
Rating: Mature (implicit details)
Hinata paced about anxiously. Her feet were tired but she could not sit still. She had no clue about what was happening outside. All the windows had been barricaded by thick wooden planks. The guard stationed outside her chamber was on high alert and had been left with strict instructions to not let her out of her room. Her pretty metaphorical cage.
The gong rang three times. Her heart lurched, as hope renewed within her. The murmurs she had overheard between her unreserved handmaidens had been true. The Uchihas had rejected the alliance, in the end. Which could mean only one thing.
He had come, after all. He had come for her.
-
Her mother had cautioned her. That her beauty, while considered by many as a boon, could in fact become her undoing. But if she wielded it with reasonable wit, it would become her weapon.
But when tragedy befell her, she had been too naive to act on her mother’s words. There had been no warning. No signs. She had been safe and loved under her parents’ care. Then one cursed day, she was dragged out of her home and into this huge castle.
Prince Ootsutsuki had chosen her to be his bride, after noticing her on his way back from a hunting expedition with his friends. She had been forced to marry him, following which he was coronated as the King. Her parents had been angered and protested against the monarch. But they were brutally killed, along with the few good men who had supported their cause.
If Hinata was scared and furious before, she became shocked and broken after she had been informed about it by her merciless husband. For a long time, her tears did not cease, while she fervently hoped so for her heart.
When every attempt to flee or end her life was thwarted by her ruthless and vile husband, she became a shadow of her former self. She abhorred the idea of birthing the future heir to the despicable king, and surreptitiously used herbs to keep herself bare.
And, in turn, he kept her closed and guarded in her chambers, limiting her movements, curbing her freedom until she relented to his whims.
-
Months later, Hinata overheard her handmaidens talking excitedly about the impending visit of the Uchihas. She had a vague idea about the savage and power hungry clan from local gossip. From what she could gather from the two young girls, the two Uchiha brothers and their sizeable troops were supposed to be visiting to discuss the possibility of an alliance. The King was planning on elaborate festivities to honour and win favour of the fierce clan with abundant food, flowing wine and beautiful women every night.
She was ordered to be confined to her room by the King, the night before the guests were expected to arrive. She was unperturbed to be left out. Inconsequential rumours did not bother her, nor did the excuses that Toneri must have made on her behalf. The only thing she missed were her afternoon walks around the castle grounds.
Just after midnight, on the second night of her total confinement, she slipped out of her chambers. The guard outside her door was slumped over in deep sleep. She went to the small lotus pond overlooking the plum blossom tree and sat on the wooden bench. The cool night time breeze momentarily soothes the resentment that seemed to have become a permanent part of her.
“Isn’t it unwise for a lady to be out this late?”
Hinata was startled at the deep voice that broke the calm of the night. She stood up and swung around with wide hesitant eyes.
“I… I was hoping for some fresh air and alone time.”, she whispered apprehensively, as her eyes took in the form of the stranger. She had never seen anyone like him. Tall with wide shoulders, and shoulder length dark hair that matched his irises. Under the pale moonlight, the young man seemed to be carved from marble. Perhaps he was one of the Uchiha clansmen.
“So was I…. Pardon my ignorance, my lady, but I do not seem to have made your acquaintance in the last two days here.”, he said curiously. Hinata found his eyes assessing her in the same way as hers did. She should be blushing and fleeing away, but she had become numb to those emotions. She could only feel wariness. What if this stranger revealed her midnight escapade to Toneri?
“How can you be sure, Sir?”
“Because I’m fairly certain I would have remembered meeting you.”, his tone had no traces of mockery. But his eyes were filled with an emotion akin to desire.
Hinata looked away from his inquisitive gaze and moved to the path back to the castle.
“Will you not allow me to introduce myself?”, he asked her before she got out of earshot.
She had to stop and turn. Etiquette dictated that she did.
“I am Uchiha Sasuke, the Commander General of the Uchiha Army.”
Hinata realised that this man was no mere Uchiha. He was the younger brother to the ruler of their kingdom.
“My name is Hinata.”, she replied . That was her only identity. She refused to accept the title of Queen or the name of Ootsutsuki.
The sudden frown on his face could only mean that revealing her name had given away her identity too. Without waiting for him to say anything more, Hinata turned around to go back to her room.
-
It was curious. Very much so.
To have made the Uchiha Commander take an interest in her. Was this what her mother meant? It was an innocent thought, but she felt the bitter and enraged part of her, incite her to test the limits of her allure. Up until then she had been a slave to it, how could she use it to her advantage?
The following night she made the same excursion, and to her twisted pleasure, she found him already there.
Almost as if he was waiting for her.
-
Her days were filled with nerves and some excitement. She half dreaded and half hoped that Toneri would find out about her midnight dalliance. Maybe then he would execute her for such an illicit act.
Oddly, she found herself reveling in the inappropriate attention from Uchiha Sasuke. Nothing could stop her from meeting the handsome and formidable man that gave her a sense of protection for what little time they spent together. The warrior clearly knew he was going against normal honourable convention, but it was quite evident that he was enamoured by her.
It was a sadistic feeling, but Hinata enjoyed the hold she had over him. They had only few more nights together.
An idea started taking form in her mind. It was unlike anything her old self could have ever fathomed. But would carrying out such a plan not make her selfish? And manipulative?
It was a war between her conscience and her blackened heart. And in the end, only one sentiment ruled her. If this was the only way to avenge her parents’ death, she would commit herself to it.
-
He stood very little chance against her feminine wiles. She had shared her deepest secrets, her soft smiles and shy gazes. She had even let him surreptitiously hold her hand.
She grew daring and hoped to give Sasuke the last push that might tip his desperation for her. After all, she had heard from her handmaidens about how the younger unwed Uchiha had rejected taking any woman to bed from the countless that were offered to him by Toneri.
-
“It might be severely improper to say this my lord, but I find myself missing your presence during the day.”, she said on the eighth night, as they sat on the grassy patch under the plum blossom tree, hidden under the dark shadow of the moonless night.
“There is nothing improper about it, for I feel the same way. My lady, I curse my destiny for not having met you before. I would do everything to save you from the horrors you have been subjected to.”
Tears lined her eyes and as she lamented, “Oh… My Lord, please do not tempt me with such hope. For nothing could be more cruel than desiring someone you can never have.”
Sasuke frowned with a pained expression. “You desire me too?”
Hinata looked up to meet his eyes and said laughed mirthlessly. “It’s pitiable, isn’t it? I have never desired anyone as much as I have you… But, it must be my cursed fate to meet you under such circumstances for such a despairingly short time. I feel it would be appropriate for us to end our meets on this very night, before it causes us more grief.”
Sasuke grasped her hands tightly and brought it to his chest. “Do not suggest that, for it would be cruel to both of us my lady.”
Her cheeks were wet with tears of desperation, but she nodded.
-
The next night when Toneri visited her bedchamber after the nightly festivities, she lost all hope of seeing Sasuke for the last time. Her heart mourned that her plans were foiled prematurely.
She lay awake as an inebriated and spent Toneri drifted off to sleep. She knew it was a tremendous risk, but she quickly cleaned herself and put on some clothes to rush to the pond. It was already way past their rendezvous time, but she had to look for herself.
When she saw Sasuke pacing over the sparse grass worriedly, she felt the beginnings of genuine affection arise in her heart for this man. He had waited for her. He was worried for her.
His steps halted when he saw her figure standing in front of him. Hinata ran up to his open arms and sobbed into his chest.
“I was worried that you were caught…”, Sasuke said hoarsely as his arms tightened around her.
She shook her head and shuddered at what had delayed her. “Toneri… expected me to... carry out marital… duties… It was sickening…”, she gasped and let her tears wet the front of his silk robe.
His fists were clenched tight and his body grew stiff in anger. He held her at arms length and asked her, “Are you hurt?”
She shook her head to relieve his worries.
He sighed helplessly and cradled her face in his hands, “I wish I could whisk you away from here, but I’m afraid it will be catastrophic for us with so many guards and soldiers around… The only way for me to take you away would be to launch a stealth attack… I’m afraid it might take some more patience on both our parts.”
“Will you really face such a peril for me?”, she asked with awe and admiration.
“I will, my lady. I most certainly will.”
“Say my name? I want to hear you say it… before you leave.”, she pleaded.
“Hinata…”, he bent down to touch their foreheads. “Bestow the same pleasure on me… Call me Sasuke.”
“Sasuke… Sasuke…”, she grabbed the lapels of his robe and pulled herself to her toes to lay her lips on his. He responded with eagerness and kissed her back.
Hinata moaned under his ministrations. She knew she was using him to get to her goal, but she found herself more and more attracted to him too. Kissing him did not feel like an ordeal, in fact it was very pleasurable. She discerned that this was how a lover’s touch felt. His caresses over her body and his lips against the throat made her respond with an audible moan. It was an absolutely sinful feeling.
And she wanted to feel more of it. She wanted to know, atleast for once in her life, what it was to make love with someone you longed for. It was a wicked feeling.
“I am scared… What if this is the only night I get to see you? I cannot bear, not knowing how we would be together. I wish to stay with you tonight...Erase the vile traces of Toneri with your loving ones… Please!!”, she sounded positively wanton. So much so that she surprised herself too.
Sasuke cursed under his breath and lifted her up in his arms to take her to a secluded grassy spot. The cool spring breeze was pleasantly cool over the searing heat between their bodies. Their coupling was intense and ravenous, and it took Hinata all her willpower to not scream out his name.
-
When Hinata thrust open the door, she found his guard missing. She gathered courage and ventured into the halls. There were loud voices, screams and the clanging of swords. Maids and soldiers were scurrying past her.
She had nothing to defend with, but she had to see for herself. When she came upon a bloodied lifeless body, she covered her mouth to stop herself from retching. But bending down, she picked up the sword that lay a few feet away.
Suddenly, an armoured figure bearing the seal of the Uchiha clan came in sight. She had expected the soldier to attack, but he simply moved past her.
She swallowed her fear and rushed to the Royal court. She found three Uchiha armoured men fending off Ootsutsuki soldiers easily, but right there behind the royal throne, two tall figures were busy duelling with each other. It was Sasuke expertly clashing his sword against Toneri. She stared at the duo, the commotion behind her was ignored.
Right there in front of her was the culmination of her deepest darkest wish. Her elaborate plan was on the cusp of fruition. She wanted to deliver the final blow, but before she could act on that thought, she saw Sasuke’s sword cut slice through her husband’s abdomen.
Her body could not handle the rush of emotions at witnessing the end of her tyrant, so she fell down to her knees in pure shock and adrenaline. Sasuke finally noticed her presence and rushed to her.
When his face came into her dazed view, Hinata flung her arms around him and hungrily kissed him, as a singular thought persisted in her head.
He had come for her. For her. He had avenged for her. And she would devote the rest of her life to him. The two lovers were lost in each other amidst the total carnage and ruins they had left behind.

Matters of State UPDATE
Renamed In the Palace of Fire
Here’s the first chapter I promised! All tagged parings will eventually happen but this is mainly a NejiTen fic.
“Different roads sometimes lead to the same castle.” - Jon Snow, A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Chapter One
December 1510
Candlelight flickered. In the hearth, a fire cracked and popped as flames licked at the logs and spread warmth into the room.
Thick, lush fabrics and carpets decorated the room and dampened the chill, which seeped in from the stone walls and single-pane windows. Each piece was intricate, painstakingly woven, and boasted the wealth of the man who owned them.
The owner sat in an elegantly carved chair close to the fire, a goblet of wine in his hand. He drank deeply from the cup and relaxed further into the chair. Hiashi Hyuga, the Duke of Moon, had endured an eventful day.
Next to him sat his brother - his twin, born just minutes after him, rolling a grape between his fingers.
Between them on a small table was a platter of fresh fruits, cheeses, and a half-drunk pitcher of wine.
The two chatted absentmindedly, chuckling as they discussed the events of the day.
"Lady Hinata had quite a busy day," the younger brother mused, "It was certainly a birthday fit for Your Grace's daughter."
The Duke polished off his goblet and placed it down on the table. His brother refilled it.
"Ah, it was quite an event for a child of nine. I was happy to have her received by the King. When she is older, I would like her to become a lady-in-waiting to her majesty."
"The queen should be lucky to have someone so kind-hearted as Hinata in her service, my lord."
"Yes…" Hiashi trailed off and turned his attention to the fire, nursing his cup of wine before speaking again. "Hizashi, how is your son?"
"He is in good spirits, quite happy to have been in the presence of Your Grace's family for the Lady's birthday today."
Hiashi downed his wine and sat in silence, watching as Hizashi chewed on the grape he had been toying with absentmindedly. Realizing his brother's cup was empty, Hizashi reached for the pitcher to refill it. Hiashi held up his hand, and his brother halted, placing the pitcher back on the table.
"You are lucky, brother," Hiashi finally admitted.
"May I inquire as to how so, my lord?" Hizashi popped another grape into his mouth and chased it down with the last of his wine.
"You have a son."
Hizashi frowned. Yes, he did have a son, someone to pass his titles and lands to, someone to keep the Hyuuga name alive. But it had cost him his wife who had died days later, stricken with childbed fever.
"Hiashi, you and the Duchess are still young, there is plenty of time to have a son."
"Perhaps."
"There is. If the Father is willing, then the Mother will grant you a son."
"Yes," Hiashi tapped his fingers on the table. "I am just overthinking. Neji came so easily to you; I must admit I am envious."
"Surely-"Hizashi halted, mid-sentence, and looked across the apartment.
"You heard it too?"
Both men abruptly rose from their chairs, wood scraping across the stone. They rushed out of the room and towards Hinata's bed-chamber.
The door slammed open, and they met a cloaked figure halfway towards Hinata's bed, knife gripped in hand.
"Halt!" Hiashi's voice was stern and commanding. He drew his sword and held it out to the cloaked figure.
Hizashi drew his sword as well, pointing it at the intruder. The man spun around and backed up, growing closer to Hinata.
The twins advanced on him, but the intruder had anticipated this and used their advance to create enough space between the two men and the door.
The intruder dashed across the room and avoided slashes before slipping out the door. Hiashi ran after him. Hizashi turned and called out to a servant.
A young boy, no older than fourteen, appeared at his side, bowing low.
"Yes, my lord?"
"Keep guard over Lady Hinata, do not let anyone near her, understood, Kō?"
Kō bowed again.
"With my life, my lord."
Hizashi ran out of the room, following in his brother's footsteps. His elegant slippers scraped softly against the stone of the palace halls as he chased after his brother.
He heard the clash of metal and the grunt and groan of a man meeting his mortality. He ran further down the hall and found his brother standing over the dead intruder.
"Who was it?" Hizashi panted, coming to rest at his brother's side.
Hiashi bent over and pulled the hood off of the cloaked man.
The stocky jet black hair and strong jawline were that of an Uchiha.
Hizashi cursed and drew a cross across his chest. Tensions between the Hyuga and Uchiha had always existed. It was no secret that many Uchiha thought the King a pretender. However, much to everyone's relief, the Uchiha family lacked the resources needed to plot against the King successfully.
Without support to overthrow the King, his second-best option was marriage. And while Hiashi pined for a son, the Duke of Ryuchi wanted a daughter. One to marry the prince, and reclaim their place near the crown.
But Hiashi was a stern supporter and more senior advisor to the King than Fugaku Uchiha. The eventuality that Hiashi's daughter could become Queen was a genuine threat to the Uchiha family.
Whether the boy acted on his own or under the order of his uncle, Hizashi did not know.
He did know that his brother had killed the boy, and the Duke would demand justice.
And with no evidence besides their word, Hizashi realized the King would be inclined to side with the Uchiha family.
If the boy had died in their chambers, there would be no question, but in the dimly lit hall with no witnesses, the cards were not stacked in their favor.
"Your Grace," Hizashi whispered. When Hiashi did not respond, Hizashi repeated himself louder. The sounds of guards approaching reminded them of the urgency of their situation.
"Your Grace!" Said Hizashi, "Take my sword."
Hizashi pressed the sword into his brother's hand. The Duke's face was pale, and his fingers trembled as they wrapped around the pommel. Hizashi then pulled his brother's sword out of the boy's stomach. The thick blood clung eerily to the steel and glowed ominously in the candlelight.
The guards approached.
"Halt! In the name of the King!"
The twins looked up and found themselves quickly surrounded.
"Your Grace," said the captain, "what has happened here?"
Hiashi flicked his glance over to Hizashi. Whether it was to give his brother permission to speak or seek guidance, Hizashi wasn't sure, but he spoke up anyway.
"I killed the boy."
Hizashi was grabbed roughly by two guards, and he dropped the sword. It clattered loudly off of the stone floor.
"Sir," the captain's voice quivered, "that is a serious confession. What reason do you have to commit such a crime?"
"I heard an intruder in his grace's apartment. I should have just detained the boy, but I chased him out here and stabbed him. He was by the Lady Hinata's bed with a dagger drawn."
"And what proof do you have?"
Hizashi looked to his brother as if to say goodbye before glancing back at his interrogator.
"I have none but my word."
Hizashi was yanked backward by the guards as he said a silent goodbye to his brother for the last time.

January 1511
Kakashi clenched his fists. The cathedral was packed, but he suspected only a handful of mourners were genuinely affected by Obito's loss.
Murdered in cold blood, they said, but his killer was captured and locked away in the dungeon. The trial had been intense, two dukes demanding their version of justice. In the end, the judges had sided with Uchiha, and the next time Hizashi Hyuga would see the light of day would be on his march to the scaffold.
But Kakashi knew the truth, Obito would never have acted on his own. The Duke of Ryuchi had sent his kin on a suicide mission. Kakashi hated him.
Beside Kakashi sat Rin, his intended. She rested her hand gently on his forearm. The warmth of her skin on his softened his anger, and he relaxed his clenched fists.
Obito had been so excited to be invited to court and attend on his uncle. Kakashi had been skeptical and had no desire to see his friend leave.
But his engagement to Rin had left Obito sore and jealous. Kakashi couldn't blame him for wanting to go.
But none of them expected Obito would only return home to attend his funeral.
Kakashi laced his fingers into Rin's, and together they listened to the priest presiding over the funeral mass.

February 1511
"Sweetheart," the man's voice was slick with concern. "You should return to your mother. I do not know what possessed me to bring you here, but I have decided you should not stay."
His voice was barely audible over the crowds that had gathered on the prison grounds. A scaffold stood before them with a telltale block front and center.
The girl tightened her cloak around her and kept her eyes on the scaffold.
"But father," she said, "you promised to teach me the realities of our world."
"This, though..." He placed his hand on her shoulder and squeezed tightly, and she winced. "This is too much."
"I don't want to be sheltered."
"You are not ready for this sweet Tenten."
Tenten frowned. She didn't understand the appeal of public executions, especially on such a frigid day, but she wanted to learn. Her parents had gone through great lengths to make sure she was educated just as well as any boy, and their efforts had given rise to her curious nature. She no longer felt content with books; she wanted to learn first hand.
While she understood the concept of execution, Tenten had yet to grasp the grim finality of death.
She pushed up onto her toes and peered through the crowds of people wondering if the Duke of Moon would be present to witness his brother's execution.
She found the rigid body of the Duke about fifteen feet away. Standing at his side was a boy who appeared to be her age. She couldn't see his face but felt an aura of sadness radiate off of him. Her stomach dropped with the realization that Hizashi's son was standing tall, waiting for his father to die.
The crowd erupted, and Tenten suspected that the prisoner had arrived. She craned her neck to see over the adults' shoulders and found the haggard features of Hizashi Hyuuga as the guards pushed him forward. He stumbled up the steps of the scaffolding. He stood behind the block and addressed the crowd when he regained his composure (though one could argue that he'd barely lost it at all).
"Good people of the Fire Kingdom!" His voice rose above the crowds, ringing brightly and subduing those who had gathered to watch. "I have come here today to die, as I have been rightfully judged to by His Majesty and the law. May the Father protect the King, as he is a kind and just ruler. I beseech you to offer your prayers unto me, as I am afraid in my hour of death. O Reconciler have mercy on me, for it is to you I commend my soul."
Hizashi blessed himself, and the crowd prayed with him, a handful offering their blessing to the man.
Hizashi then knelt behind the block.
"Tenten, we should leave."
"Father, please. I am fine."
Hizashi looked up at the executioner.
"Do you forgive me?" Asked the executioner.
"Yes."
Gently, Hizashi laid his head down upon the block.
The last thing Tenten saw was how Hizashi closed his eyes, face pale, and stretched out his arms, which shook with anxiety.
Tenten felt her arm yanked back as her father pulled her through the crowd. She could no longer see the scaffold or the boy. She heard the sickening sound of metal slicing through flesh and the heavy thunk as the ax sunk into the wood. The softer thunk his body falling away was swallowed up in the gasps and cheers and wails of the crowd.
Tenten tripped over her skirts as her father pulled her through the throngs of people. He gripped the fabric and pulled it up in her tiny fist, revealing mud-stained shoes. Her tights were stained as well. The maids would scold her, but she didn't care.
July 1512
Kakashi felt sick. His head throbbed, his chest ached, and his eyes watered.
"You should request that a priest attends to her."
Kakashi could not meet the eye of the physician without risking coming completely undone. He kept his fists clenched tightly to ground himself.
"Why can you not cure her?"
"I have done what I can. The Lady's fate is in the hands of the Father."
Kakashi slammed his fist on the table next to him.
"Fuck the Father!"
The doctor's mouth hung open as he quickly blessed himself.
"Cure her!"
"I am sorry, we still don't understand this sickness well enough. I have done what I can."
"Then, get out!"
"Yes, my lord."
The man bowed quickly and scurried out of the room, out of the house and into the street to make his way to his next patient.
Kakashi dropped back into the chair he'd been waiting in while the doctor attended to Rin.
The physician immediately instructed everyone in the household to stay as far away from Rin as possible, as the disease was extremely deadly and contagious. Kakashi had done his best to keep his distance while the doctor was there. But, if she was going to die, what did it matter if he did too?
The room was quiet around him, and a whimper came from behind the door to their bed-chamber.
He slammed his fists into the table again and screamed at the top of his lungs.
"Would someone find me a fucking priest?!"
A maid, who had come to check on him trembled in shock. She squeaked out a response, turned, and ran to appease his request.
Kakashi pushed himself up and made his way to the bed-chamber.
Rin was sickeningly pale. Splotches of blood bloomed across the sheets, a testament to the clumsy bleeding the doctor had administered.
She had been radiant and full of life only two days ago, a smile full on her lips and a twinkle in her eye.
Now a thin sheen of sweat covered her entire body. The sound of her struggling to breathe made him anxious. When she did look up at him, her eyes were dull and lifeless.
He sat on the edge of the bed and held her hand in his own, stroking it comfortingly. She seemed to relax under his touch and closed her eyes.
He didn't look when the priest entered the room to administer her last rights.
The familiar prayer to the Reconciler sat oddly in his ears, and he felt dizzy as he struggled to comprehend his reality.
Kakashi blessed himself and curled over his wife's hand, still grasped tightly in his own. The only sound he allowed to escape was the heavy sniffle as he relinquished himself into his tears and vowed that no woman would ever replace her.

February 1516
"There was only one survivor."
"His own family!"
"The Duke's son!"
Naruto strained his ears to listen to the whisperings in the hall.
"Your Highness," Irkua scolded.
"Yes, yes, I know. Pay attention."
Naruto looked back down at his studies; a map of the world lay before him. The two sat at a spacious table in one of the royal libraries. Books and a blank sheet surrounded them. Iruka had hidden all of the other maps from Naruto's prying eyes, knowing he would try and cheat.
Sunlight filtered through the thick glass of the windows, and Iruka was grateful that they didn't need to burn any candles.
Today's lesson was geography, and Naruto was to label the great Kingdoms and their Kings' names on the map.
He knew his own King and his own country, why he needed to know more he didn't know or care.
He tapped his quill against the paper and listened to the light way the tip scratched the parchment. He wrote the word "fire" and the name "Hiruzen Sarutobi" inside the outline of their country and abandoned the rest when he heard the whispering of court gossip. He'd heard the rumors, but he wasn't sure if any of them were right.
"Sir," he asked his professor, "What happened to the Duke of Ryuchi and his family?"
Iruka sighed. It was clear that Naruto would not finish his lesson today.
"If Your Grace had focused more on his history lessons, you might remember when I told you how our first king, King Hashirama, came to power. After many years of war and unrest, the King helped bring peace to our young country with the aid of his friend and closest advisor, His Grace Mandra, Duke of Ryuchi, and Lord High Steward to His Majesty."
Naruto's eyes began to glaze over, and Iruka snapped his fingers at the child, regaining his attention. It was a risky move; however, the little prince loved Iruka, and he was not concerned about the boy tattling on him.
"However, the Duke became resentful, and their friendship dissolved. There was a plot to overtake the throne. The Duke and his supporters were all arrested and convicted of high treason before being executed. There have been whisperings that some of his descendants still hold on to that same resentment. Last night, the Duke's son, Itachi, is said to have slain his entire family except for his younger brother, Sasuke."
Naruto gasped.
"Where is Itachi now?"
"Missing," said Iruka.
"Why did he do it?"
"No one knows."
"Does this mean that Sasuke will become the new Duke of Ryuchi?"
"Yes, your highness. And we shall address Sasuke as such."
"And how do you address a duke again?" Naruto scratched his head as if trying to recall a memory.
"You are to address him as your grace, highness."
"But aren't I sometimes called your grace?"
"Yes, but a Duke is also referred to the same way."
"But, I am a prince!"
"Which is why we also call you Your Highness."
"Is anyone allowed to call Sasuke your highness?"
"No, your grace, they are not."
"Good."
"Highness, we need to refocus on your studies."
"But you were technically teaching me history, Sir."
"Technically is quite the vocabulary for you, dear prince. Perhaps you have been listening."
"Do you think Sasuke would want to join my household?" Naruto mused. "As a gentleman of my bedchamber?"
"I am not sure, highness, but I do not see why he should oppose your most generous offer."
"Good. Now that Sasuke is alone, he will need companionship."
"Another big word, your grace."
Naruto grinned and laughed.
"Invite Sasuke to visit, and I shall offer him a position."
Iruka chuckled.
"As you wish."
March 16, 1516
Tenten grunted as she was yanked and jostled around the dressing room by her maid. The woman was dressing her, albeit rather roughly. Tenten's maid yanked her stockings up and helped her step into her shoes before securing her petticoats in place. A sapphire blue skirt was pulled over her head and synched at the waist.
Tenten instinctively fisted her arms in front of her for the maid to put on her kirtle. It was the same blue as her skirts. The piece was laced up the back and pulled tight, causing Tenten to gasp. The low cut square neckline allowed her cleavage to show, and the tightening of the laces pulled the piece closer to her, flattening her silhouette and pushing her breasts up. With each breath, they rose prominently, swelling over the collar.
Sleeves were tied on. They pressed tight against Tenten's biceps and fanned out at the elbow, dripping low to the floor.
Satisfied with the way the dress sat against Tenten's body, the maid began to brush her hair.
Tenten looked at her reflection in the mirror and marveled at the outfit she now wore. It was a birthday present from her parents, and she needed to look her best, as she was to be presented to the Queen today.
"May I wear my hair as I usually do?" She asked.
"No, my lady, her grace has requested you wear your hair more elegantly today."
Tenten frowned. "But I like my buns."
"It is not appropriate for a maiden, let alone one meeting the Queen, my lady."
Tenten sighed. At home, she could wear whatever she wanted. The only exception was when they entertained guests, and even then, Tenten was allowed more freedom.
She chose not to protest and allowed the woman to smooth her loose curls and weave a few small braids into her hair. A rounded hood of matching blue and trimmed with gold lace was pinned to her head, as was the fashion.
Next, she reached for a  heavily jeweled necklace and fastened it around Tenten's neck. Matching earrings dangled from her earlobes. Lastly, a red rouge was spread across her lips and onto her cheeks.
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Tenten's mother had sat her down and explained that now she was old enough to start attracting men at court. Tenten knew this, but hearing the words from her mother's mouth made her anxious.
The door opened, and a man entered the room. Tenten turned and curtsied along with her maids. The man approached, and Tenten rose from her curtsy and smiled up at him.
"Father!" She spun around, showing off her dress. "How do I look?"
Her father smiled down at her, laughing lightly.
"All the ladies at court are sure to envy you."
Tenten bit back a self-deprecating comment and smiled.
"Thank you."
Her father held out his arm, and Tenten slipped her hand into the crook of her father's elbow.
"Now," he said, "your mother tells me you two need a moment alone before we head out."
Tenten wasn't sure what her mother wanted, but the vagueness her father used suggested it was something he would not approve of, which was not unusual. Her mother was bold, unabashed, and unashamed of her ideals and practices, protected only by her husband's love for her. Tenten's father was Marquess of Storms and Lord High Constable to the King. Those who wielded any power to force the Marchioness to remember her supposed standing in this life were few.
She was guided out of her room and to the main chamber of their palace apartment. Tenten's mother sat at the table, waiting.
"You look as beautiful as ever," she said as Tenten detached herself from her father's arm and sat down.
"Thank you, mother."
"I need to gather my notes for the council meeting," interrupted her father. Tenten felt his disapproving gaze on her mother, who met his gaze without so much as a flinch. "Keep it quick."
"Of course, my lord," she said with a smile and just a hint of sarcasm. The Marchioness tended to slip into a more formal speech when she disagreed with her husband.
He mumbled something about watching her tongue, laced with frustration and concern before retreating to their bedroom.
With her husband gone, the Marchioness of Storms softened her gaze, which Tenten met with an excited smile.
"What is today's lesson?"
"There is no lesson today, Tenten, just a decision."
Tenten furrowed her brows.
"A decision?"
"Yes."
"On what?"
"Your future."
Tenten looked down at the small box of carved wood that sat on the table between them.
"I'm not sure I-"
"Open it."
Her mother pushed it towards her, and Tenten lifted the lid. Glints of silver and pewter flashed before her. It was a pile of charms and trinkets. Tenten knew it well.
"Will we cast the charms today?" She asked.
"In a way," her mother's calm demeanor was tinged with excitement. "You will pick just one, though. This charm will be the most important one you ever cast, as today it will set the course of your future."
Tenten thought about what kind of future she wanted but try as she might, she couldn't envision what life on her own would look like as she peered into the box of charms. There were nearly 30 possibilities with endless possibilities.
"What do I need to know?"
"When you're ready, close the box and give it a good shake. Then, close your eyes, whisper a prayer to the Dreamer, and pick a charm."
Tenten nodded and followed her mother's instructions. The ring of metal on wood pinched her ears and rattled away at her confidence. The future always felt so final.
She set the box down and closed her eyes as she flipped up the lid and pressed her fingers into the mess of charms. Some were rough, some smooth, all cool to the touch. Something sleek and rounded fell between her fingers, and she pulled it out. She heard a snap and opened her eyes. Tenten's mother had closed the lid and withdrew the box. There was no turning back, no second picks, and no looking to see what she had missed.
The charm rolled into her palm, where the weight was light but sturdy, and she looked down as her fingers stretched out.
"A heart?" She was disappointed and knew that if her mother hadn't snatched away the box, she would have dug back in looking for a sign of adventure - like the little sword charm, that one was her favorite.
"A heart." She agreed.
"But," Tenten frowned, "love is so… cliche…"
"It was your choice, Tenten."
"But, I wanted something exciting!" She put the charm down on the table. "An adventure, a new way of life, not the same thing every other woman pines for!"
"Love is an adventure, Tenten."
"Another cliche."
"Only because you've not yet experienced it yourself." She felt her mother's gaze on her and looked up to meet it. "Tenten, most love is not a story from a fairy tale where a daring prince swoops in to rescue a maiden from a tower; it's so much more complicated than that. I had hoped that you would know that from seeing your father and me."
"But to have this on the day, I'm to be presented to the Queen? I know that father arranged this to secure a good marriage and-"
"Marriage and love are not the same, Tenten, not in our positions anyway. You should be happy to know that you will experience love in place of politics."
"As if you'd let father agree to a marriage of political convenience anyway."
"My influence only goes so far. I have a hand in decisions with your father, yes, but if the decision is up to the King…"
"I know."
Tenten felt the warmth of her mother's hand on her own in a gesture of comfort and strength before taking the small silver heart and inspected it.
The charm was old and tarnished. Tenten's mother polished it with a napkin that had been left on the table and strung it on a long silver chain.
"Wear it on you like a protection charm. Always." She handed it back, and Tenten draped it over her head and tucked it into her dress. It was cold against her sternum, and when they rose from their chairs to leave, Tenten could feel it tap against her with an even and steady rhythm.
Some subjects seldom crossed Tenten's mind, and love was at the bottom of that list. Tenten swallowed her displeasure and let her father lead them from their apartment and through the twists and turns of the palace. Down these stairs, and then up those. Go down the hall, take a left, and then a right. Double back again. Her head spun. How was she supposed to navigate this maze on her own?
Eventually, they arrived at a set of ornate double doors that stretched to the ceiling. They towered over the guards, and as they swung open, even the hinges seemed to hiss an impending finality at her.
——
Hiashi hated waiting. It was the worst part of the council meetings. As President of the Council, and practical man, Hiashi expected the meetings to start on time, maybe even a little early. But councils were often made-up of self-inflated lords used to being in charge. And while this council was better, but not perfect, and Hiashi resisted the urge to drum his fingers on the table as the last members drifted into the King's privy chamber.
King Hiruzen was punctual, at least, a trait that came with age. Nara and Inuzuka were the worst. But Danzo Shimura was a runner up. As Lord Steward, the only man who outranked him was the King himself. Danzo was not late so often as to be considered generally tardy. When he was late, there was a reason inflated with his sense of superiority. The King never questioned his steward.
But today, the last person to take their seat was the Lord High Constable, Hiroto Moriyama. Hiashi liked Moriyama. He was practical, quiet, and punctual.
"My apologies, Lords," he sighed as he sat in his chair, "I was presenting the Marchioness and my daughter to Her Majesty."
"No apology needed," said Hiruzen, "My dear wife enjoys conversation. It is quite easy to lose an afternoon in her presence."
"Thank you, majesty."
Hiashi cleared his throat.
"Now, my lords, with your majesty's permission, I would like to begin."
"Granted."
"Thank you, sir. Now, what news have we to report?"
"The faith recently appointed a new high priest," said Shikaku. "As we lack one here, I have begun preparations to bring him to court."
"Good." Hiashi then addressed each Lord, starting with Danzo and ending with Shibi Aburame, the Lord High Admiral.
The news of the kingdom changed little these days. While there were some happenings, nothing compared to the aftermath still surrounding the death of Fugaku Uchiha and his wife.
Uchiha's seat sat empty on the other side of the table. Moiyama and Yamanaka had sat on either side of the Lord Privy Seal and had offered a calm balance to the often argumentative man. How he had managed to have a title of such honor disgusted Hiashi.
"What news do we have of his son?"
Hiroto cleared his throat.
"Nothing much yet, sir. We have a few leads, but the boy seems to have vanished."
"Keep looking then,"
"Of course."
Hiashi had only as much interest in bringing Fugaku's son to justice, as was required by his title.
"Now, I presume we will be granting his son the title of Duke?"
"It is his title to inherit," said Shikaku, the Lord High Chancellor.
"Of course," Hiashi paused. It was the right time for his proposition. And while he had carefully planned out what he'd wanted to say and how he'd go about saying it, he found himself running through his speech one last time. "Would his majesty prefer a ceremony or a private appointment?"
The King pondered for a moment, stroking his beard.
"The Uchiha family has been shaken to its very core. Sasuke is young, and others may try to stake a claim on his title. To avoid strife, as those Uchihas always seem to attract, he should have a proper ceremony. If not for his reassurance, then to show the realm that the crown has his back."
The council murmured their approval, and Hiashi made his move.
"I would be honored if his majesty would consider my nephew worthy of a title."
Hiashi heard Danzo scoff.
"You seek to use your position to so blatantly elevate your family? At least Uchiha had tact."
"Uchiha," Hiashi grit his teeth, "ordered the kidnapping of my daughter. And my brother died for it."
"That is quite the accusation. What proof do you have?" Danzo sneered at him.
Hiroto spoke up.
"It was the Duke's nephew who attempted. And with the Duke gone, I think we can speak plainly. Each family had a loss and-"
"Now is not the time to pretend at justice, Moriyama," Hiashi hissed. "You know as well as I did that my brother died to prevent more violence. While he was to inherit my title, I now have my children, and Neji should not have to suffer-"
"You would let a daughter take your name?" Quipped Danzo.
"I have yet to decide, my Lord. And there is still the chance that the duchess will bear me a son. Neji is getting too old to be my ward. He deserves more than this."
"And when your wife leaves you with two daughters, he can snatch up a second title?"
"Enough, Shimura," said the King. "I would hear more from the duke."
"Your grace is too kind," said Hiashi. "There is a small plot of land, east of the Storms. The Earl died with no heir two years ago, and his assets were returned to the crown, as your Lord Treasurer can confirm."
"I will need to look back through your majesty's accounts, but that sounds correct," said Inoichi.
"If your majesty's accounts reflect this," said Hiashi, "he will need to appoint a new Earl of Birds."

Pirates can be helpful sometimes. If you do anything to tick them off though, you're thrown overboard. They were self-serving, violent to a fault, and would only help outsiders if they got something of greater value in return. Profit, they said. Most pirate ships were run by humans, taking to the sea after being forced off of land by other groups. For this reason, the whole time on that ship was spent with their scorching gazes burning into the back of your skull. Being an elf, one doing work for the queen no less didn't help your cause. If you hadn’t been seasick you would’ve seen it coming.
Now here you were, sinking down into the depths of the ocean hardy able to see the light through the crashing waves above you. Your wool cape weighed you down, getting heavier as it soaked in the salty water. It wrapped around your body, restricting your movements and thwarting any hope of being able to swim upwards.
Your chest hurt once your knees hit the sand at the bottom. The throbbing of your heartbeat in your ears was loud but didn't stop you from hearing the swishing of movement around you. Somehow, life underwater was the loudest and most silent experience. It was deafening.
"Hey there, person!"
You squinted your eyes as you tried to see despite the stinging from all the salt. About five, maybe less, metres ahead from where you pitifully kneeled, a merman swam over to lean against an algae-covered rock as if it was a bed. You bent backwards to get away from him, but it became useless since your torso just floated back up.
"Are you stuck? Odd. What is that? A tarp?"
The merman’s orange tail flicked, propelling him forward toward you with incredible speed. His webbed hands pulled at your cape and his long pointed ear twitched through the water, listening for something. You felt as though you were being sat on by a giant, the pressure on your chest grew stronger as you struggled to help the sea creature free you.
Once untied from your dark cape you were able to swim upwards toward the surface. You felt your chest expand as you swam higher making it easier to hold your breath.
Just as you broke through the surface of the water you gasped, grateful that you could finally breathe. You heaved in as much air as possible, trying to not let the splashing water get in your mouth. As you kicked and waved your arms through the water the aquatic man floated up next to you. He poked his head out of the water before ducking back down.
"Woah! You don't have a tail! Or fins, or anything! What are you?"
Treading the water with both arms and legs you kept yourself floating high enough to speak.
"Take me to shore and I'll speak to you then. This cape is weighing me down."
Nodding his head, the merman’s orange hair shook off some of the water in it. The movement made some water fly into your mouth, which you quickly spat out, not enjoying the taste. His hands hooked under your shoulders, hoisting you up to his chest.
"Hold your breath."
Tumblr media
"I am (Y/N) (L/N) of the Elven Domain. I am an explorer and have direct orders from the queen to track down an artifact to keep it safe. And you are?"
"You're an elf?"
You sighed, staring the merman directly in his eyes. The two of you currently sat/stood on the sand, drying off. In front of both of you was the ocean that you had just crawled out of minutes before.  The merman flicked his tail happily and looked at you with a curious smile that seemed to eat away at his cheeks.
"You don't socialize, do you?"
He shook his head as he picked at the fins on his arms. “No, not really. I’ve been the personal worker for the princess since I could remember. Only the royal family makes connections with those on land. The rest of us barely remember the word for your people. Let alone seen one. And because I’m working for the princess all the time I don’t really have any friends or explore."
As he spoke, his tail had fully dried and began to morph into a set of thin legs. The colour from his tail seemed to take shape and become a pair of trousers that ended directly below the knee with a small frill. He slowly bent them with a large smile, wiggling his toes into the sand.
"We know of our abilities, but only those who attend world meetings use them. I've never had the chance."
Grabbing your hand suddenly, he pulled himself up and onto his feet.
"Now come on! You have an adventure to be on don't you?"
Marching forward Shoyo managed to take a couple of steps before his knees buckled inwards and he fell forward. His butt stuck in the air and both his lower legs and face were covered in sand. He was quick to adjust, flopping onto his back.
"I got to get used to this," he said smiling up at you
"I'm more surprised you managed to even take one step. What’s your name?"
His mouth popped into an ‘O’ shape before giving you another sharp-toothed grin, “Shoyo Hinata.”
Tumblr media
You sat on the edge of a rock, cape splayed out by your side. Hinata splashed around in the water, bathing in the cold liquid against his skin and tail. A laugh would nearly escape you every time his head bobbed out of the water to either shake his hair dry or send a long trail of water out of his mouth in a tall arch. He occasionally would toss water your way in an attempt to get you wet, before going back to whatever he found entertaining at the bottom of the pool.
"So you are an elf. And there are other species out there like you. How many are there?" he asked.
Hinata pushed himself up on the rock next to you and let his tail begin to dry.
"There are humans and wizards. They are from the same family, but wizards have either become interested in the magic of others or are hungry for power. There are other water dwellers I'm sure. But no one has seen them since the War of Weapons. Along with some forest creatures who have small colonies instead of creating a large Empire like the Fae or Giants."
Hinata swung his tail trying to get off the last of the water so his legs would appear. As he did, drips flung your way, making you much wetter than any of his targeted splashes did. You scoffed, wiping your hands over your hefty clothing. Once dry, a silk-like material took the place of scales and legs, replacing the tail with pillowy clothing. You stared at them for a moment.
“Are those pants attached to your body or…”
As you spoke Hinata's ears twitched as he heard every word along with any noise that came from the woods behind you. He ignored your comment, far more interested in the previous conversation. "Creatures like what?" he asked.
You looked to the woods thinking of the people and animals you have and will encounter on your travels. "There are centaurs, gods, dragons, nymphs and dwarves. Some that don't have specific names but recognizable features. Most of them fled to the woods after the war. The gods, well, there are no gods here. Not anymore, not really."
Hinata nodded and played with the large gem that was attached to your cape. His head tilted, "War of Weapons? What happened there?"
"I can't remember the exact details of course. It was almost three hundred years ago after all. And if you haven't connected with other races you were definitely born after."
Hinata nodded "I'm only a teen. So it makes sense that I wouldn't know. As I said, I’ve spent my whole life with the princess."
Sighing, you felt the sudden urge to throw yourself into the water. You cringed in disgust and looked into the deep ocean. The dark blue seemed much more welcoming now than it did when you had been thrown in. Maybe if you wished for it the dormant god would welcome you with open arms.
"You're so young," you commented.
"And you're not?" Hinata tilted his head and looked toward you. He set down your cape.
"In age of body, I am. But of mind and experience, I have aged 400 years."
"400!" Hinata jumped back at the confession, hands holding tightly onto your gemstone. "But how? You look 14!"
"People of Elven descent age much slower than the rest of the world. It's a gift and a curse. My own siblings are reaching their 900th years."
Hinata sat closer and rested his chin on your shoulder, pouting. You smiled and turned your head slightly toward him, getting a glimpse of the youthful expression that pulled at his lips.
"But the war. What happened?"
You looked to the horizon where you couldn't see the landmark or city.
"Humans, finding the magic of others made them power-hungry. They began to build troops in hopes of defeating other kingdoms and gain control of the world. Wizards, witches and the occasional warlock or enchantress began to appear. They had to go through deadly rituals to gain their power. And when they found out there was more to take, there was no stopping them. It was a war of not only hardware but of magical prowess."
Hinata rested his weight against your body as he listened to you tell the story of an old war.
"Elven, Mer, Demon, Wood, and God banded together to stop them. Each of them protecting the gems they had in their care."
Hinata stared at your side profile, his eyes reflected the light from the setting sun and portrayed admiration as he listened. The eyes of the mer glowed a brilliant gold colour with hazel accents and brown lining.
"Gems? Like the stones?"
You nodded.
"Some, although rare, have magic stored in them. There are three held by the gods, with them from birth to rebirth. Others are forged over hundreds of years on sacred ground. Often places are abandoned before a single gem is produced."
Hinata's orange hair tickled your neck, his webbed hand rested palm up on your knee. You took his hand and gently pressed your thumb into the center of it.
"(Y/N), what did you do in the war?"
Your eyes dropped into the water before you. Another urge, stronger than the last, wanted to pull you into the bottomless pit of water. It felt like you were about to choke.
"I watched friends and family live and die at the hands of the people we all treated so well. I can only wonder if they took our kindness as pity."
Hinata squeezed your hand with a slimy but gentle touch and dug his head deeper into your shoulder. He whined pitifully.
"I am an adventurer. So that's what I did. I went searching for clues, hideouts, anything I could find on the other side of the war. Along the way, I made a friend. His wings were a beige colour, very light. But his overall aura was much darker. His wings gave him little to no help because if he flew too high up, he would fall out of fear of being shot down."
You turned your head to the merman, shifting slightly to fully face him and avoid catching his pointed ears with your own. You raised your free hand up toward the darkened sky, pointing to the bright light from the moons above the two of you.
"His name, Kageyama Tobio. God of the moon."
Hinata sat, eyes larger than before as he looked up to the two shining dots of light in the sky. The moons, which he had never gotten the chance to see until now, danced slowly around each other as they spun around the world. He admired the still image of the two unequally sized moons.
"Where is he now?"
"Home, I assume. But his sister is young and missing. So there is no doubt in my mind that he is still searching."
The sun had fully set by now, letting the moons cover the forest in cool light and dark shadows. You lowered your hand to Hinata's shoulder and added some pressure to your fingertips.
"Rest for tonight. You've drained your energy enough for today." You smiled and pushed him down on the flat rock where your cape was, acting like a makeshift bed.
"And what of you? Are you not going to rest?" He asked, holding your hand as it dropped the edges of your cape over his shoulders.
"My mind is now plagued with thoughts. If I rest now I cannot guarantee you'll see me at dawn."
Hinata's brow furrowed as he questioned you. "Why would that be?"
You sighed and brushed his hair with your free hand. "My turning would toss me into deep water." You smiled slightly as Hinata's expression turned sour. "Now sleep. I’ll see you in the morning."

wow god bless oikawa rare pair week, heres oihina day 1 - soulmates beware i didn't proofread ao3 link if u wanna leave some luv there
-
Of all the tomfoolery Oikawa had experienced in his life, having the words "who feeds the Loch Ness Monster?" tattooed on the inside of his elbow definitely reaches his top five, right next to the time Iwaizumi swallowed a crayon and the time his sister shaved his eyebrows off. He figures it was destined to be up there in the ranks, proving to Oikawa just how much of a joke his life has become. But he's not mad or anything, just unreasonably chill. Shit like this happened to him all the time, what's new?
Of course, just like the next guy, he's desperate to know who would say these words to him, antsy to know which idiot is his destined soulmate, chosen by the stars to fill Oikawa's life with maximum happiness. He thinks someone stupid enough to ask a question like that will give him more migraines than glee.
And as all best friends do, Makki gets an absolute kick out of Oikawa's dumb soulmate tattoo, cackling in the club room like some evil Disney villain until Oikawa wrestles him into a headlock. He's lucky his own tattoo is something deep and meaningful (shoutout to Matsukawa, that absolute poet), or else Oikawa would be on his motherfucking ass too. But the neat little scrawl on the inside of Makki's wrist is a freaking Queen Elizabeth II kind of mark, and Oikawa's measly tattoo is the bellhop who opens the door for it.
He feels guilty about being embarrassed about his soul mark, because he knows many people who still haven't gotten theirs, and people who never got theirs. He should be grateful the almighty heavens blessed him with a destined partner in life, but he also gets the sickening feeling that his partner might be ten years younger than him. It's happened before, fifteen year-olds being the soulmate of a forty year-old who taught they'd never get their tattoos. In cases like that, it's easy to ignore the whole soulmate thing, and go on with your life, accepting the fact you'll have to find another soulmate. Oikawa hopes that isn't his case.
The gods answer all his concerns a few weeks after his tattoo first appears. His sister had called him after school ended, and the team had a day off from practice. She had been frantic, telling him her son was supposed to get out of school in fifteen minutes and the downtown traffic was horrendous. Oikawa had easily accepted the duty, and had waved goodbye to his friends as he'd taken a different route that day. Takeru's school wasn't too far from his own, but he'd have to speed walk a little if he wanted to reach the school grounds before the final bell rung.
Just as he's a bock away from the school, the train's yellow boom gates went down, signaling the passing of a train, and Oikawa was left impatient on the other side. A long line of cargo comes rolling down the tracks, taking a total of five minutes to pass by, before the gates rise again, and Oikawa sprints across the tracks, already late to pick up his nephew.
He's lucky Takeru is a social butterfly, talking and laughing with other kids his age, and not crying like Oikawa had when his sister was late for him once. "Oi, Takeru," he called, huffing at the entrance gate. His nephew looks up from where he's currently immersed in whatever the little orange haired girl beside him is saying, and comes bounding over. "Who's this?" he questions, flashing Takeru's pal the friendliest smile he can muster in his current out-of-breath situation.
"This is Hinata-chan," Takeru introduces, pointing at the girl. "Her brother's also late." Oikawa bristles.
"Well, Hina-chan, we'll wait with you until your brother gets here, if you'd like," he offers, and she quickly agrees. They stay by the gate, the two children chattering vibrantly about all sorts of things, while Oikawa scrolls through his phone, giving his two cents here and there. Oikawa gets the vague sense that his little nephew is crushing, if his puffing chest and tinted cheeks are anything to go by. He' mentally rooting for the kid.
Somehow, the conversation spirals from how their sensei fucked up that day, to their lesson on geography, and Takeru takes the chance to proclaim his extensive knowledge of fabled creatures all over the world. (All credits go to the mythical creature documentary Oikawa was watching the other day.) "In America, they have this crazy hairy dude called Bigfoot!" Takeru exclaims, waving his hands around frantically. Hinata-chan looks absolutely mesmerized by Oikawa's goofy nephew, that Oikawa almost laughs. "He lives in a forest, and he's, like, fifty feet tall!" He's nodding so fast, Oikawa's afraid his neck will snap and he'll have to endure the wrath of his older sister for letting Takeru hurt himself under Oikawa's watch. "Tooru, whats the other one the..." he trails off, before his eyes light up again. "Ah! Lock Knee Monster!"
Oikawa snorts. "It's the Loch Ness Monster," he corrects, letting his attention fall from his phone and to the kids. Takeru nods along, and then forgets Oikawa exists in favor of giggling with Hinata-chan. He and Hinata-chan are having such a good time, that Oikawa finds he doesn't really mind. His attention returns to his phone.
He's halfway through texting the third-year group chat, when the kids grow restless, shouting at some guy pedaling at full-speed towards them. "Onii-chan!" Hinata-chan squeals, when the boy who looks like a close replica of her skids to a stop beside them. "You're late," she scolds, and then proceeds to whack his arm with her cute, pink backpack.
"Sorry, sorry!" he exclaims, clapping his hands together in a sign of apology.
Hinata-chan ignores him. "You missed it," she cries instead, when her temporary anger subsides, and quickly begins relaying the mythical creatures conversation to him while he unstraps his helmet and climbs off his bike. "Takeru was telling me about this crazy fish dinosaur in Europe that's, like, a hundred feet long! His name is Nessie, and he lives in some lake or something," she chatters, almost as proud of her knowledge as Takeru had been earlier.
"That's crazy, Natsu-chan," the brother says, and Oikawa's eyes follow him as he finally gets off the bike, and adjusts a bag over his shoulder. Their eyes briefly meet, and Natsu's brother gives Oikawa a small smile. "Is this the Takeru who told you about the Loch Ness Monster?" He asks Natsu, pointing at Oikawa. She vehemently denies it, and instead points out the real Takeru, while she continues to ramble on.
"He's a big ole' fish, Shou-chan, swimming around all lonely!" Natsu's excitement suddenly halts, and all four boys look at her curiously. She's pale, eyes wide, when she looks at Shouyou and says, "we feed our fish, Nii-chan, but who feeds him?"
This Shou-chan boy laughs, an airy laughter that kind of reminds Oikawa of bells, eyes squeezed tightly shut. "Well, I don't know," he admits, laughter clinging to the end of his words. He glances back at Oikawa, and says, "who feeds the Loch Ness Monster?"
And fuck Oikawa's entire existence, because of course, how did he not see this coming, what, with all the mythical talk? He'd hoped the nagging in his consciousness was just paranoia or something but, nope. It had been his brain warning his ass, letting him know shit was about to hit the fan hard. There's a sudden panic in his chest, when he doesn't know what to say next. He's heard of people who'd met someone that said their tattoo quote, but didn't have the same one in return. But that mostly happened to people with really boring marks, like, one order of hot cocoa for aoi, or something, not a question about some fucking mythical creature. He's almost completely sure that this guy is his soulmate, but the possibility of him maybe not being his soulmate causes Oikawa to blurt out, "it was a hoax."
Shou-chan blinks, and the air is suddenly uncomfortably quiet. The kids seem to sense that something is off, too, and don't dare mutter a word. Then, the most rosy color rises to Shou-chan's cheeks, and his eyes widen to the size of saucers, and his mouth drops open, and Oikawa thinks bingo. "Y-You're, and, I?" Shou-chan splutters, glancing at the sky as if it'll give him some answers. Been there, done that, Oikawa thinks again.
Oikawa takes it onto himself to surge forward, and grasp the other male's hand in his. "What's your name?" He murmurs, awfully aware of how intimate this had suddenly become in front of two seven year-olds. The boy, his soulmate, impossibly becomes more flushed, and his hand is quivering in Oikawa's grip.
"Hinata Sh-Shouyou," he stutters, mocha eyes locked with Oikawa's. "A-And yours?"
"Oikawa Tooru," he answers, voice strong and steady despite the current chaos going on in his mind. His brain is in maximum overdrive, struggling to think properly, that he doesn't really know what to say after that. And then, much to his utter horror, Takeru snorts behind them. Oikawa's gaze flickers over to him, and his cheeks burn at the sight of his evil nephew cackling like the spawn of Satan. Well, that is his sister's child. To make matters worse, tiny Natsu starts giggling too, orange curls bouncing all over the place. And, as if the heavens weren't pleased with Oikawa's total mortification, his soulmate starts laughing too. They've known each other for five minutes, and Oikawa already feels betrayed.
Through his giggles, Hinata Shouyou manages to glance at him, face all adorably scrunched up, his free hand covering his mouth, and says, "would you like to go out for ice popsicles?"
Oikawa likes. He really likes.
(He's not sure if it's the idea of ice pops he likes, or the bubbly boy that mentions it. He figures it's a package deal.)
