Did you know that the Pitch drop experiment is the world's longest-lasting experiment? It started in 1927 to prove that some solids are actually highly viscous fluids, and to this day, it continues to fascinate scientists and the public alike.

The experiment uses pitch, a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, which has an incredible viscosity level 100 billion times that of water! Since 1938, only nine drops have fallen, leaving enough left for another century of dripping. If you're curious to see the 10th drop, you can watch it live on the experiment's website. New gear pump design enhances efficiency for polymer pump

  The demands on plants, processes and equipment are constantly increasing. So to live up to the demand for greater efficiency, higher throughput and lower reject rates, Witte Pumps & Technology GmbH has completely overhauled its Booster and Poly pump ranges.

The result is a redesign that impacts on all core components: friction bearings, housings and gear shafts have all been modified. From a technical perspective, this has meant real advantages in terms of conveying properties and product qualities thanks to the reduced heat input, lower shear and shorter dwell times of the polymer in the smelting reactor. What’s more, the optimised gear shafts and modified housing geometry facilitate significantly higher throughputs than with pumps of the same footprint in the previous design. This in turn allows for increases of up to 40 % without changing the installation size. The core components of both series - friction bearings and gear shafts - are interchangeable. The Poly series also offers high flexibility when it comes to installations beneath the polymer melting reactor. Pump operator can choose from three different flange geometries. In the basic version (SX), the flange geometry is integrated into the housing. This option is the most cost-effective for operators and requires the least amount of installation space. T he version (MX) featuring blind holes in a flange that protrudes over the housing offers the maximum cross section to ensure the lowest possible pressure losses. This version is generally used for extremely highviscosity polymers. The range is rounded off with a flange with through holes. This version (LX) offers maximum installation flexibility with only minimal pressure loss. All sizes and flange geometries are available with connections that comply with EN 1092-1 and ANSI B16.5. It goes without saying that the company also offers housing variants for replacing existing pumps and debottlenecking, not to mention solutions for special requirements based on operator requests. By standardising on three gear widths for each centre distance, the distances between the respective pump sizes have been significantly reduced. The new gear geometries facilitate differential pressures of up to 320 bar for selected pump sizes. The pump portfolio now spans from 611 to 21,500 cm³/revolution to cover all common polymer applications. An expansion of the range is set to be rolled out gradually. Hey! I saw your post about the glitter charms and was wondering where you get them done? I've wanted to do charms for a while but I have no idea where to go

The company I order from only just sent me samples, so I don’t even know if it’s a service they’re offering completely yet. I also apologize, but I don’t feel comfortable giving out my charm source as I’d like to be able to have something unique to offer in the ever growing charm market ;-;I know Zap! Creatives has glitter and metallic acrylic they print on though, if that’s of any help otherwise!

ask them to tag it. If they don't... well, friend, you either unfollow them or put up with it

i feel pretty uncomfortable asking people who don't tag any of their posts to tag certain content, idk. but even among the things i don't like to see on my dash, there's only one that i actually can't stand and that's sebastian/ciel shippy stuff, nsfw in particular. 

i like mostly everything else they reblog and already just ignore what i don't, but while the other stuff i don't like just kinda squicks me, sebaciel is kind of a deal breaker for me ;A;

maybe i'll look through some of the blogs they reblog from to see if i can follow them instead?
