I have a story that's the exact opposite! At about 13 I was at the stage where I wasn't really sure Santa existed and I decided to run a test: if Santa could bring me dolls of my two ocs with reference photos I provided, I would believe he was real. My mom was really dedicated though, and put out a post on facebook asking if there was anyone that could sew and potentially make dolls out of the drawings I provided. I ended up finding out Santa wasn't real later that year anyways, but that morning I was so excited when I found two perfect recreations of my drawings under the tree with the rest of the store-bought presents. It's one of my favorite memories to this day, and the woman that reached out and made them attended my graduation party :)

They live on a shelf with the rest of my toys, and to this day are two of my main OCs, Alex and Lynn! They've changed a lot since then, but these two have a special place in my heart for reminding me of the good in the world <3

Edit: The drawings!!! Plus a photo from the day I got them :D also I didn't know the right term for "to scale" so I wrote "life size" but thankfully the artist understood lol

Welcome to the revived Hetalia Kink Meme! This will be hosted both on Tumblr and on Archiveofourown as a prompt meme challenge. I noticed that trying to only host on Tumblr led to some issues, and a lot of people don't know how to use Dreamwidth nowadays so attempting to host it there doesn't work anymore either.

Now, the Hetalia fandom isn't as big as it once was, but I'm still hoping that we manage to get some participation going.

What's a prompt meme?

It's a place where you can suggest things you want to see written in your fandom, or write people's requests if you happen to see one that strikes your fancy! As a requester, click on "prompt form" and fill out the form. The fields with a * next to them are required fields, but you may choose whether to leave the other fields blank or fill them out.

Required fields: Characters(at least 1), Description(Describe what you want and don't want). That's it!

As a writer, you may click "claim" on somebody's prompt to announce your intention to write it.

But OP!! I thought prompts aren't allowed on ao3!!

You're correct. Usually. Many people don't know that there is actually a special collection challenge type on ao3 that is designed for hosting prompt memes just like this one! There is a separate section for prompts where you can upload prompts/requests. Here's a link to ao3's prompt meme FAQ:

How many prompts can we request?

I made the limit 15 per account. I think this is more than enough. Of course I can't stop you from requesting from multiple accounts but come on man... (If you want to add another prompt that badly you could also delete one of your old prompts.)

How long should our fills be?

I am unlikely to enforce any minimum, but I personally recommend at least 400 words.

Can I write a fic for a prompt that someone has already claimed?

Yes! Multiple fills per prompt are allowed. Two cakes and all that.

Are requests anonymous? What if I want to de-anon a request?

Requests are anonymous by default, but you may de-anon by unchecking the "semi-anonymous prompt" box at the end of your prompt form.

Are the collection works anonymous? What if I want to de-anon the fic I wrote?

COLLECTION WORKS ARE NOT ANONYMOUS BY DEFAULT. When uploading a fic to fulfill a prompt, you may add it to the "anonymous" collection on ao3 to keep yourself anonymous.

NOTE: You won't be able to click claim on a prompt without revealing your username. Unfortunately anonymous claims aren't possible without making the entire collection anonymous. A work around is to just upload your fic to the collection the old fashioned way and then state the prompt you're filling in your A/N.

I heavily debated whether to make the entire collection anonymous, but I ultimately wanted it to be up to the author as to whether to anon or de-anon without them being forced to leave the collection in order to de-anon.

Rules:

1. Your prompt/request must have at least a BIT of description as to what you want. Posting only something like "cat boy!Ivan x dog boy!Alfred" isn't going to do much to get anybody's imagination running. A prompt as short as the above will be considered spam and deleted. Aim to describe a bit of what you want(just a sentence or bullet points is fine, just at long as it's something) as well as what you DON'T want(any squicks etc.)

2. Requests must be for Hetalia. I'll allow crossovers if it seems like a popular enough property. (I.e. Hetalia x Harry Potter). Hetalia AUs such as cardverse are more than welcome!

3. Both requests and fills may be anonymous as stated in the FAQ. To make your request anonymous, click the "semi-anonymous prompt?" box at the bottom of the prompt form. It should be auto selected already. This will make sure your prompt is posted under "anonymous".

To make your prompt fill anonymous, upload your fic to the "anonymous" collection along with this one. Unfortunately clicking "claim" on a prompt will reveal your username and there's nothing I can do to change this. You can make note of which prompt you fulfilled in your A/N.

4. All characters & ships welcome. All kinks and types of prompts and works welcome.

5. Be nice to each other. Mean-spirited asks, prompts, or fills will be deleted.

So how do I (you, the buyer) choose what I want?

SO when you open up the request form it should look something like this!

We're using the bust order as our example here. At its base price, $15, it is set for the black and white option. If this is what you would like, then you don't have to worry about the add ons at all and you go straight to submitting your request! Now, if you're choosing add ons, it'll look something like these:

The first would be an example of an order of a flat color bust + an extra character bust with flat coloring as well. The color option adds the extra $10 (to match the listed price on the poster for $25), and the extra character with flat coloring adds half of that $25 to the order (well a little less bc i knocked off the .50 cents) which is why it comes out to $37.

The second would be an example of a black and white bust order with an added black and white bust character. This just adds an extra $7 to the price totaling $22.

What will you (the artist, me Brutus) draw?

I'm also comfortable drawing blood and gore though I'll have to keep it on the lighter side (I enjoy blood if it isnt obvious by my url though so depending on what you want we might be able to go a little further with that).

I can do characters with armor as well, however I will require a reference of some sort from you, the client, as I'm frankly not going to attempt armor off the dome. I won't design armor myself either.

Pinups (not full nsfw due to how much of a struggle it is to navigate different site policies) and other suggestive works are also a-ok! a tity does not bother me if that wasn't made clear by my commission card 👍🏽

What will you (the artist, me Brutus) NOT draw?

Im not comfortable trying to draw real people as of right now sorry! I'm just not really a caricature or realistic portrait artist but this may change in the future.

I also won't do furry/anthro just because that isn't my forte as I haven't practiced drawing animalistic characters. There r plenty of talented furry artists for you to choose from and I could talk to someone to guide you to a few .

(I CAN do more humanoid fantasy characters however. like mermaids, satyrs, etc)

More extreme gore and body horror is also off the table. (so like spilling guts stuff like that)

I may love mecha but as it is like armor and a bit more extreme, I'm not drawing it sorry. And also as stated above I'm not drawing armor regardless without a good reference.

Certain fandoms are a no-go for me due to my own comfort. A quick list would be: mogeko games, omori, south park, hetalia, attack on titan, mcyt, hazbin hotel/helluva boss. if you're not sure just ask!

I reserve the right to decline any comission request for any reason. Getting paid is nice but my comfort is nicer yknow.

I still cannot get over how cursed early Hetalia official art is. Some of it is legit haunting. Their dead soulless eyes. Them just hanging out in a void of some kind.

It's the Disney Princess void effect if you know what I'm talking about how all official art of Disney princess together none of them are looking at each other or seemingly aware that the others are there. Which as been dubbed the 'pink void effect' early Hetalia art has that same cursed vibe.

like they are all there, the are all doing 'things' but all of them could be their own separate picture and the others taken away and nothing would be affected. They are just sort of all there, there is not eye contact. they are all looking at something different you can't follow their eyes to a certain place. Giving no indication that they are aware of each other being there.

These photos have the exact same energy. Even this one. They are all there together but none of them are actually 'interacting'.

There are obviously exceptions to this but It's something that once you start to notice you can't unseen it. I would also like to point out I am specifically pointing out old official art not done by Hima himself. These would be like t-shirt designs & posters. The new merch is pretty good from what I've seen.

You want to know what I think is one of the craziest bits of fanon in the Hetalia fandom?

The existence of the 2p! characters. Or rather what we did with them. Here's what I mean.

The 2p! characters started off as recolored drawings of the main characters by Himaruya, where he also created gender-bent designs of the main cast, along with alternate coloring. He allegedly joked and said that they looked like they could be part of an evil organization or something.

He also did some possible alternate sketches of some of the other characters but never finalized them. These characters started to be called 2p! characters, as in "second player", like in a video game.

But what's truly insane and all-around amazing is what the fandom did with this information. Because we didn't just sit down, look at the drawings, churn out a few fanarts, and go along our merry way.

Oh goodness no...

We took these sketches by Himaruya and ran with them.

Next thing you know, the fandom began creating their own versions of the 2p! characters, even taking the gender-bent recolors and swapping their genders back to better resemble the main cast, but not exactly. We even created personalities for each and every one of them. While there are common personality traits shared by many of them, they are also incredibly unique with their own personality traits and quirks.

And the personalities we've given to each character were done by the fandom largely agreeing on certain information. Some examples are...

2p!America is a vegan, animal-loving delinquent.

2p!France is a clinically depressed smoker and alcoholic who believes love is fake.

2p!Italy has the persona of a mafia boss and is lowkey a sadist.

2p!England is a happy-go-lucky baker who makes sweets that may or may not contain human remains.

And the list goes on and on. We've made our own designs and personalities that the fandom largely has agreed upon, and these alternate versions of the characters are so dang popular that they might as well have their own fandom. Which, to be honest, they do.

They're so popular that they even have their own fanarts, fanfictions, cosplays, etc.

The Hetalia fandom literally went off and created its own sub-fandom. And this isn't the only sub-fandom that's branched off of the main Hetalia fandom. There's plenty more out there. The reason the 2p! characters are so wild to me is because the fandom really did take a handful of official and unofficial drawings with no canonical ties and went off to the races with them.

I'll probably go over different parts of Hetalia fanon and the sub-fandoms that branched off of Hetalia, but I needed to talk about the 2p!s, because their existence is just wild to me.

And I love them.

Fuck you Hetalia AU in 2024 and it’s a mecha AU

BASIC PREMISE IS: This takes place in the far future and fuck ass aliens are trying to take over Earth and the leaders of the world decide “hey we have immortal beings over here with combat experience! PUT THEM TO WORK!” And so they do. The mechs in this world are called Atlases

Rn I only have America and Japan’s Atlases designed, but I’m gonna design some more hopefully!

Side note: These aren’t all the characters for this AU, I’m working on everyone else including the aliens (who have their own nation personifications on the front lines!)

Russia

He doesn’t dislike tattoos, he just doesn’t… prefer them. It’s very rare that he holds any conservative views, but he does still associate tattoos with “delinquency.”

Of course, that also always depends on what exactly the design is. A compass rose doesn’t bother him, but another man's name would. Something ugly or badly aged would make him cringe, but it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker. Generally, he just likes completely unmarked skin over anything else.

(With one exception, that being if you already have a very “alternative” aesthetic. Then, he really doesn’t care and just thinks they make you prettier.)

If you were to ever get a tattoo for him (i.e., his name, something related to Russian culture,) he would be over the moon! He knows it’s hypocritical, but seeing you be willing to permanently mark your body to show your love for him… makes him go a little crazy.

Germany

Ludwig is a modern man, so that comes with modern sensibilities. It really doesn’t mean anything to him unless it means anything to you. Unless it’s something offensive, he’s not gonna think anything of it.

Although, sometimes when he’s exhausted, he absentmindedly traces the outlines of your tattoos, maybe asking a question or two about what they mean. Generally, he likes tattoos that are supposed to be symbolic compared to your run-of-the-mill fandom tattoos. He believes that if you’re going to mark your body, it should be meaningful.

He might even have a few small symbolic ones as well but is very hesitant to get any more or encourage you to do so either.

If you got a tattoo for him, he would hate it. But, if you brought up the idea of matching tattoos, he wouldn’t be opposed. As long as you’re talking through it together.

France

Oh, Francis would ADORE an S/O with tattoos! He just finds them so pretty and unique, and if you’re more “edgy,” he thinks it’s very, very hot. He’s always had a thing for those buff bikers on TV, even if they completely go against his aesthetics.

He doesn’t have any tattoos of his own, but that’s simply because he thinks it’s a bad idea for an immortal. Otherwise, he would’ve loved to have tons of intricate designs covering himself. But since he’s “too pretty” for that, he’ll just appreciate yours instead.

Like Germany, he would find it a little off-putting if your tattoos don’t mean anything. Not too badly, but enough to make him pause. He loves having pretty things just for the sake of being pretty too, but not… permanently.

He would be up for doing matching tattoos if you were insistent enough, but would prefer if he just designed a tattoo for you instead. That’s much more meaningful to him.
