Step 6: Physical Affection
From 12 Fail-Safe Ways To Charm Hermione Granger
Physical Affection
As your romantic relationship strengthens, so will your physical connection. Keep in mind that there is no specific destination to work toward, and any expectations should only come about through careful and clear communication. If your goal is truly to charm her, assume you have your entire lives to explore your physical relationship. Do not rush it, so that you can enjoy the journey fully.
******
When Crookshanks was fed up with Ron's attention, he abruptly stood, stretched, and trotted across the bed toward Hermione. He curled up contentedly behind Hermione's knees before yawning wildly and drifting off to sleep. With his hand now free, Ron brought 12 Fail-Safe Ways To Charm Witches back to his lap, and shuffled the next chapter, Physical Affection.
At the very beginning, the thought of advancing their physical relationship caused Ron significant anxiety. Having been friends for seven years before becoming romantically involved, he couldn't imagine going back to a normal friendship after seeing each other naked. Although Lavender had never seen him completely starkers, the progressions in that relationship never made him nervous, because there was no pre-existing friendship to risk. With Hermione, he found that the stakes were much higher- if he screwed up, there was a lot more to lose.
Nowadays, the nervousness of their first few experiences together seemed so far away.. Ron didn't think twice about stripping down for a shower, or simply to change clothes, and seeing her eyes linger on him no longer made him feel self-conscious. He knew she felt the same way when she thoughtlessly tugged her own clothes off after a long day at work, her bra usually being the first thing she ditched as she transitioned to more comfortable attire.
He no longer worried about pressuring her. At this point they had explored so much new territory together, that they learned how to clearly and confidently tell each other no. All it took was a playful swat to his hand and he would retreat instantly. He knew she'd never take offense if he groaned and pushed her gently away when she kissed him more fervently than was typical for an innocent greeting. Maybe he was already late for work, or he was too tired after Quidditch practice, or he didn't even have a reason, and that was ok too.
In other instances, all it took was a sultry look and raise of her eyebrow, and he would waste no time undoing the buttons of her blouse right there on the living room sofa. There was no time to be bashful when they hastily undressed each other in the powder room at a work party. Time was limited to a quick reprieve from the awkward small talk and polite compliments on food that couldn't quite satisfy his appetite like Hermione. Sometimes there'd be no reason to remove any clothing in her office between meetings, leaving little opportunity for self-consciousness. On those occasions, he'd lock her door, cast a muffliato charm, and hoist her up to her desk, before dipping his head underneath her skirt, running his tongue along her thigh, and tugging at her knickers with his teeth.
Their physical relationship had become so intuitive, and it was difficult to remember the awkwardness of their teenage selves. He had to remind himself that they didn't always know each other's bodies so well. There was a lot of trial and error at the beginning, and understanding what to do with his hands, how to move his fingers, and where to put his mouth required her guidance and feedback. He had to teach her just as much about his own preferences, and it took time, effort, and observation to master their crafts.
******
They remained in Australia for a few more weeks, spending their days together while the Grangers were at work. During that time, they continued to explore the city, eating at new restaurants, visiting new museums, and even riding that wooden roller coaster at Luna Park. There was a particularly memorable day at the beach, when they spent hours attempting to surf, before they had to cut the day short because their sun potion wasn't quite strong enough to protect Ron from the strong Australian rays.
With the stress of reversing the memory charm off their shoulders, their time in Australia started to feel more like a holiday, and not just in the city, but in their hotel room as well. Ron was pleased to discover how quickly things progressed between them when Hermione had nothing but time and her characteristic curiosity, but no looming exams or tasks ahead to occupy herself. The irony of the most unremarkable place housing some of his most memorable experiences was not lost on Ron, but he couldn't help but appreciate that the drab window-coverings and the peeling wallpaper only accentuated her uniqueness.
That hotel room was where she removed his shirt for the first time since he was splinched. Unlike during their second kiss, she didn't ignore his state of undress, but relished in it, landing a trail of kisses down his neck and chest. That hotel room was where he nervously slipped his hand under her shirt for the first time, inching against her bra in question until she nodded her permission. Even though it broke their kiss, he couldn't help but beam when he slid it further, because her breast fit so perfectly into the palm of his hand, and he'd never known the luxury of custom-made before. It was also where they finally had that very awkward, but very necessary conversation about what they had and hadn't done with other people. They spent some time on opposite ends of the bed, arms crossed stiffy, as Ron underwent an interrogation involving what Lavender had seen, touched, and experienced with him, but they spent even more time wrapped up in eachothers arms, wearing only half of their clothing, because it turned out there were still many more firsts to be had.
Not all of their free time was spent alone together. They committed their evenings to the Grangers so Hermione could reconnect fully with her family before the pair went back to England. Hermione was at first upset to learn that her parents had no intentions of coming back with them. They really loved their new home in Melbourne, things were going very well at their new dental practice, and transporting Herman overseas would be a nightmare.
They were outside in their yard when the conversation first came up. Hugo had assigned Ron to 'Burger Duty' while he mixed up cocktails for everyone, leaving Ron to pretend he knew how a grill worked. With his wand stashed inconspicuously up his sleeve, he made a point to thank his mother for the cooking spells she forced on him growing up. He was also thankful for the cooler weather that allowed him to comfortably wear long, wand-obscuring sleeves.
"It's quite cold," he said. "I always thought Australia would be warmer."
"Well," said Jean, who was busy playing fetch with Herman. "Since we're in the southern hemisphere, it's winter now. That's why it would probably make more sense for you both to visit us over the Christmas holidays, and we can come see you in the summer."
Ron was thrilled by the implication of her use of "we", but Hermione was caught up in another detail of her answer.
"Wait…," she started, sounding hurt. "You're not coming back to England?"
As the pair began to argue, Ron was quickly redirected by Hugo, who handed him a drink. "Burgers are looking great Ron!" he said brightly. "Let's leave them for a bit and head inside, I have something I want to show you."
"Er, sounds good," said Ron as he closed the lid to the grill and followed Mr. Granger into the house.
"Do you like the drink?" Hugo asked casually.
Ron hastily took a sip of the creamy drink before answering. "Yeah, it's good. What is it?"
Hugo laughed. "Well right now it's an Alexander without the gin." They were in the kitchen now, and Hugo reached into one of the cabinets to pull out a mid sized green-tinted bottle. "Archie Rose. A truly superb Australian Gin." He motioned for Ron to hand over his glass, so he could complete his cocktail.
"Thank you, sir," said Ron, as he took another sip, which was decidedly stronger than his first.
"Hugo's fine," said Mr. Granger. "Sir's my dad."
Ron nodded. "Thank you, Hugo. It's a good drink." Ron followed Hugo's lead, and sat down at the barstool at the kitchen counter.
"I just wanted to give them some more space to hash it out," Hugo explained. "I figured that she wouldn't react well to the news that we're staying here."
"Yeah," said Ron. "I think she assumed you'd come back. Can't blame you, though. It's beautiful here."
"Well then, I hope you visit often," said Hugo, grinning at Ron.
Ron nodded again. "I'm sure we will."
It was then that Hugo's eyes narrowed slightly, but that could have been Ron's imagination. "So, you two are pretty serious then?"
Ron had been expecting this to come up, but the abruptness took him by surprise. "Well, um," he started, taking a sip of his cocktail to buy some time, but Hugo's eyes were still on him, expecting an answer. "We technically just got together at the beginning of the summer."
"Hmm," said Hugo. "And you're already serious enough to travel across the world with her?"
"Erm.. well, we've been friends for ages," Ron started, but paused when he saw that Hugo was smiling at him.
"I don't mean to make you sweat," he said. "I'm glad you've been there for her."
Ron felt relieved at Hugo's geniality, but wondered if it might be misguided. "Oh, well, of course. I care a lot about her."
"I can tell," he said with another sip. "I could tell a while ago, actually. Fourth year. Yule Ball, was it?"
Ron laughed. "She told you about that?"
"Well, she tells Jean everything. And Jean tells me."
"Gotcha," said Ron.
"And then there was sixth year," said Hugo. "I guess I should be thanking you for that one, since it meant she spent Christmas with us."
Ron felt a pang of guilt, and knew his face was turning beet-red. "I was kind of an arse that year," he said. He winced upon hearing his language, and hoped Hugo Granger didn't hate swearing as much as his daughter did.
Fortunately, he laughed. "I was an arse when I was sixteen too." He shrugged. "Seems like both of you have grown up since then."
Ron nodded. "We have."
Hugo took a deep breath, exhaled audibly, and paused before his next question. "Are you being safe?"
"Excuse me?" said Ron. His face was definitely ripening like a tomato now.
Hugo chuckled. "Are you using protection?"
"Um, well, no, we aren't-"
"Well, that concerns me," interrupted Hugo.
"We aren't having sex." Ron interjected a little more firmly.
"Ahh. You aren't having sex," said Hugo, with another casual sip of his drink. "Yet."
"Sorry?" Ron felt as though his stomach had tied itself up in knots, not unlike the sensation he became so accustomed to before a Quidditch game.
"Look, Ron. I like you. And I'm not stupid," he set down his glass and turned to look at Ron. "I'm not going to pretend that you're not thinking about having sex with my daughter. And I'm definitely not going to sit here and tell you not to, because I know that would be pointless."
Ron's gaze fell uncontrollably down to his near-empty glass, suddenly wishing that there was more alcohol in it. This unexpected conversation with Hermione's dad was starting to feel like an exam he hadn't prepared for.
"I just need to make sure two things happen when you do." He paused, and Ron realized he was waiting until he had his eye contact again. So reluctantly, Ron sat up straight, and turned to face him. Hugo nodded approvingly before continuing. "Promise me two things. One, you'll undoubtedly get consent. And two, you'll use protection. Both of those things, every single time."
Ron nodded. "Of course."
"I'm assuming you have sufficient knowledge regarding contraception? With five older brothers and all."
Ron nodded again, now faced with the unfortunate memory of his dad walking him through the use of contraceptive spells.
"Are there magical methods?"
"Er, yeah." Ron looked up at Hugo, who simply motioned for him to continue. "Um, there's a potion, and two types of spells. Female and male. They work alone but are more effective when done together."
"How long do they last?"
"Twenty-four hours," answered Ron, thankful that he had enough knowledge to answer confidently, as it seemed to reassure Hermione's dad.
"And you're confident you can perform them correctly?"
"Yeah,' said Ron. "I mean, I've never had an opportunity to test them, if that's what you're getting at. But they're not difficult, and you can perform another spell to check that it worked."
Hugo laughed. "I wasn't getting at that, but I appreciate your honesty. I trust you, Ron."
Ron exhaled the remaining air that he didn't realize he was holding, and Hugo poured a shot of gin into both of their empty glasses.
"That's right, take a breath. You did good," said Hugo, and Ron was encouraged to see the more relaxed Hugo reanimate. "I'll never forget when Jean's dad questioned me like that. I hate to say it, but you handled it much better than I did. How about a shot?"
"Please," said Ron, as Hugo laughed. Together, they tipped back their drinks.
When they recovered, Hugo playfully clapped Ron on the back. "I like you. Wouldn't have given you my most expensive gin if I didn't," he said, before standing up and turning toward the back door. "I think they're done with their tough conversation too. Let's have those burgers."
Ron sighed in relief, before he stood up and followed Hugo out the door.
The rest of the evening progressed with no mention of Ron and Hugo's conversation. Hermione seemed to accept that her parents were staying in Australia. They discussed travel plans, the state of their old dental practice, and what to do with their former house. They also engaged in lighter conversation concerning Herman's obedience classes, Jean's new book club, and Hugo's disastrous first attempt at parasailing.
After dinner with the Grangers, Hermione and Ron disapparated back to their hotel. Once in their bedroom, he didn't waste any time before he grabbed her hand and circled her around to face him. He slipped his arms around her waist and kissed her. Thankful to be alone again, he let his hands wander further down her back, until they reached her bum.
She broke the grin with a smile. "At least buy me dinner first," she said playfully.
"Don't have to, your parents already did," he said before guiding her back to the bed, until they collapsed into a tangle of limbs on the mattress. They kept their lips together, letting their hands wander, until Ron slipped his hands up her shirt to unclasp her bra. It took him a few tries, a few weeks ago he might have been embarrassed by her chuckle, but this time he was reassured because it meant that she was comfortable with him. She sat up to help him slide the straps off her arms before pulling her bra out from underneath her shirt.
Ron smiled. "Thank you," he muttered before his hands found her body again like a magnet. It wasn't long before he willingly let her pull off his shirt, and she tossed it on the floor to accompany her bra. He smiled at her before tugging at the hem of her top. "Can I?" he asked.
"Yes of course," she whispered between kisses, and he slowly pulled her shirt up and over her head.
They'd been here before, just a few times, but Ron felt his breath catch in his throat like it was the first. "Come here," he told her as she pressed her lips back to his and he rolled onto his back so that she was on top of him. He let his hands slide to her breasts and her mouth opened to allow him entry. A moan had barely escaped him when she slid off of him to lay at his side, and pulled back.
"What if we showered together?" she asked unexpectedly.
Ron paused, surprised by her offer. It made him slightly anxious, as she'd never seen him without his trousers before. But he knew by the rosy tint of her cheeks that she must have felt the same way. "I'd like that," he said as his voice cracked nervously.
"Ok." She smiled and kissed him deeply, before slipping off of the bed, and making her way toward the bathroom.
Fuck, thought Ron. His heart was pounding as he laid on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. He wondered if she was as nervous as he was. When he heard the shower faucet running, he thought it best not to leave her waiting, just in case she was.
She was already in the shower when he entered the bathroom, her clothing in a pile on the floor. He took a deep breath, as he undid the buttons of his trousers, letting them fall to his ankles. Then he slid out of his pants, before catching a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror. He was still scrawny and lanky, now sporting a few extra freckles and a peeling sunburn. But she'd seen all that before, and it wasn't what he was nervous about. He turned away from the mirror, so he wouldn't risk talking himself out of what he did next.
It wasn't the most effective shower that Ron had ever taken, nor was it very relaxing or calming. It was, however, one of the most nerve wracking showers of his life, and not because he thought there was a death eater on the other end of the shower curtain waiting to strike. It was because his breath caught in his throat when he stepped in beside her, and he saw all of her for the first time. He had been expecting the rush of self-consciousness he felt when her eyes moved slowly down his body, studying the parts of him that she had only imagined, but it still made his heart rate spike. He didn't think about what it would be like to kiss her when he didn't have any pants on to keep himself contained, and he definitely wasn't prepared for the first time she touched him without trousers to be accidental, brought on by the confined space they were in.
He hadn't thought this far ahead, and was paralyzed by the fact that he didn't know what to do. He had assumed that instinct would take over, but it didn't, so he simply pulled her close and kissed her, doing his best to pretend they weren't naked, and ignore that he was pressing against her in a way that begged for her attention. Then he reminded himself that it was Hermione here and he'd always been able to ask her anything, so that shouldn't be different just because they were starkers in a shower.
"Can I touch you?" he asked her nervously, while holding her to his chest, staring intently at the shower wall behind her.
He felt her nod against his shoulder.
He couldn't blame the color that crept up his neck and to his ears on the heat of the shower. He had her permission, but there was still one problem. "Can you… show me how?" he nearly whispered.
After a brief moment of hesitation, he felt her nod against him again.
He held his breath as she took his hand and guided it down her body, toward the opening of her legs, and he swore internally when he felt her for the first time. He observed her movements and studied the rhythm of his hand, trying to memorize any patterns because he could be a good student when he wanted to be.
Eventually, she removed her hand from his so she could grip the shower head instead, and he continued to mimic her patterns. He discovered that he could rely on the rise and fall of her chest, the erratic pattern of her breath, and the deepening rose color of her cheeks for feedback. So he kept observing her signals as he touched her, greatly enjoying this new, nonverbal form of communication.
He figured he was doing something right when she gripped the shower head more tightly, bit her lip, and threaded her free hand's fingers into his hair. He watched her chest rise and fall under the steady stream of water, her breath increasing in both pace and volume, building tension until she had to release. Her legs buckled underneath her and he held her against him as she audibly came undone, and the sound of shower head could no longer drown her out. New favorite subject, he thought. She'd always been a fantastic teacher after all.
She recovered and regained the support of her legs, and he reluctantly removed his arm from around her back. Her vulnerability in the moment had all but dissipated his own nervousness, so when she asked him what he wanted, he didn't at all feel weird about taking her hand, and showing her how he liked to be touched. It might have been the extra steam of the shower obscuring her view, or the fact that she had already unraveled in front of him, but he was no longer self conscious when he let go of her hand and got lost in the moment. It wasn't long until he was relying on his own hand to support him against the shower wall and he buried his head into her neck to muffle a string of profanity he would have filtered had he been able to elicit any control over his words.
Fantastic teacher she might be, it turns out she had always been an even better student.

Okay, i liked writing Trans Ginny
So here we go
It wasn’t easy for her to discover this. Growing with all types of boys, first she was convinced something was wrong with her.
It’s not like the other boys made her feel like this, it was just a thought of her own who started it.
After one year of trying she was getting pretty comfortable with being more femme than the others. She is tough, nothing could’ve make her hate herself.
Being femme made her a savage. If anyone made fun of her, oh boy, you were screwed.
Billy starts to teach her how to fight because he isn’t gonna let anything happen to his sister.
Charlie decides to join but only teaching her spells. And maybe, some fun facts about dragons.
Percy lectures her about how to report the bully properly.
The twins started trying some new spells on bullies. There was some mess going on.
Ron, was just Ron. He wasn’t aware of anything. But he was supportive as hell. Maybe more supportive than others. He didn’t understand much for now but he always listened his sister.
Molly and Arthur was supportive too. Maybe they were oblivious at first, but they got the hanging of it eventually.
It took 3 years to realize she was trans. It was the second year of Hogwarts. When her friends decided to celebrate Halloween with make-up, she decided to look like an woman. I mean it was a proffesor but still. The wig, the make-up and everything was on point. She didn’t look like a boy anymore. When she first looked at herself in the mirror, something clicked.
The euphoria was indescribable.
After that night she decided to talk to Hermione. She didn’t have another person to talk in that time.
We know Hermione and her love to learn. She obviously searched LGBTQ+ community before. (She is pan/poly btw)
She says Ginny that she could be trans and explains it to her. She tells Ginny she can explore it.
Like using she/her or they/them pronouns, wearing dresses and doing make-up.
She got her interest in pronoun thing. And asks Herm if she can start using it when they are alone. Herm says of course.
When she does, Ginny feels amazing. Like nothing could make her happier. Every time Herm says she, Ginny squeaks. Like literally.
After getting the hang of it, she decides to find a chosen name.
Hermione helps her with her research. But Ginny finds it herself. She remembers a book she read when she was like five or something, how she liked the main character.
She thought she want it to be with her but in reality she wanted to be her.
She decides her name is Ginevra and tels Hermione first.
With her help she comes out to Ron and Harry. They accept her unconditionally.
After some mischievousness they got caught by Molly. She of course grounded them.
When they got stuck with twins cleaning the house. They got bored and escaped. Backyard seemed good enough for her to come out to the twins.
They just grinned and said they always wanted a sister anyway. Ginny felt relieved.
After this she finds a time where she can gather around her other siblings. She comes out to them either.
Billy cherishes and hugs her. Says he did and would always support her unconditionally.
Charlie says that too and comes out as ace to her. Billy and Percy already knew that. (They are the first ones he came out to.)
Percy says he may never know the way she feels and is ready to learn about it. He wants to learn what he can do better. His girlfriend is also trans but he is a sweet boi so he wants to make sure he can support her correctly.
She cries. And says she hate them bc they made her emotional.
After half of a year, at Thanksgiving she decides to come to her parents as well.
They are shocked but Molly is like “FINALLY, A DAUGHTER THAT I HAVE.
Arthur stutters as he doesn’t know how to react but eventually says he supports and loves her very much.
She says her chosen name and she announces will not use her dead-name anymore.
They tell her they will try their best.
At Christmas, Billy and Charlie finds a magical doctor who transitions people to what gender they identify as.
They do not bring the doctor, of course. But Ron thought about it. (Yes everyone knew her present before her. They are really crowded you can’t blame anyone tho.)
In fourth year, she transitions. It took 6 months because ✨magic✨
She gains confidence and starts making more friends. Of course there are transphobes in there because what kind a person wouldn’t hate a person just for living?
That’s how she had a crush on her very sweet soon to be girlfriend.
Anyways, she is cool and she will kick your ass.

Interview given to The Severus Snape and Hermione Granger Shipping Fan Group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/199718373383293/
Hello DeepShadows2 and welcome to Behind the Quill, I am pleased to have this chance to chat with you.
Many of our group’s members will know you as part of our Mod team but they might also know you as the author of Peculiar and of Good Night, Sweet Prince (written for our last Prompt Week of 2020!)
Okay, let’s jump right in. What's the story behind your pen name?
I grew up in the martial arts and my 'warrior name' was 'kage urufu' or Shadow Wolf. When I was in Creative Writing in high school, someone else was writing under that pen name, and they were more popular, and I was told I 'wasn't allowed to copy her name' by our teacher. So I went back and forth between some names and finally came up with DeepShadows. It is because during karate Kamp's ninja night games I would find the darkest spots in the camp and wait to sneak attack my enemies to steal their flags. The 2 comes from the fact that my first ever FF.net account got deleted because I put up lemons there instead of AFF.net.
Which Harry Potter character do you identify with the most?
Honestly, it is a mix between Severus, Draco, and Minerva. Each in their own way was in positions they would have rather not been in at one point in time, but made the best of those situations. Do you have a favourite genre to read? (not in fic, just in general) Strangely enough, I am really into my 70s Feminist Sci-Fi. Like Darkover and Tanith Lee's 'Don't Bite the Sun' Series. As for Fic, I am into many scenarios and it changes according to my mood. Recently I've been into fluff slice of life.
Do you have a favourite "classic" novel?
Oof. Asking me to pick solely one is a crime. I have always loved Gone with the Wind. If I had to point at one, it would have to be it. But I honestly went over 15 titles in my head trying to decide which one would be the winner.
At what age did you start writing?
I have been telling stories and writing them since I was young. I could read and write at age 4 because my grandmother wanted me to be ready for school. My first written story was at 5 ish and I still have my Crayola blue five-line story about a Unicorn named Pepper.
How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I got into fanfiction when I discovered that ff.net existed. My first fanfic is still up there under this pen name, but it is miles and leagues from my current quality. Spelling is still atrocious though.
What's the best theme you've ever come across in a fic? Is it a theme represented in your own works?
Honestly, hard to say. I love post-war fics. I love when the narrative is close to canon, but uniquely not, so it handles like it is an extension of the world and not a separate world.
Theme wise, I am a sucker for hard-hitting drama.
What fandoms are you involved in other than Harry Potter?
I was into Kingsman, but not as a fic writer, but a Tumblr role-player. It's been a while, so mostly now I'm just back to being a Potterhead. It's where I began and where I always come back to.
If you could make one change to canon, what would it be? Do you have a favourite piece of fanon?
Snape lives! You cannot tell me that a POTIONS MASTER who spends ALL DAY every day keeping students from POISONING themselves and who personally makes BLOOD REPLENISHERS for the infirmary would not have been prepared for an attack from Nagini. It is not secret knowledge that Drama King Voldy likes to have her do his dirty work and Severus would have been prepared for the off chance he was discovered and attacked. He lived.
My favourite piece of Fanon.... hmm... I like a lot of Fanon. It's hard to put my finger on just one piece that I enjoy.
Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer quiet?
Music! Nearly all of Peculiar was written to Folklore by Taylor Swift.
What are your favourite fanfictions of all time?
Cake and a Cup of Tea by Cybelle Somewhere I belong by .... I can't remember Not Only a Granger by my friend Ferporcel
Are you a plotter or a pantser? How does that affect your writing process?
I am a Pantser. I have beats and thematic key points I know I want to hit, but the characters sort of fill out the story as I go. Sometimes I surprise myself with where I end up and I love that. Example: Draco/Krum was a total accident in Peculiar, but I love everything about it.
What is your writing genre of choice?
Hurt/Comfort and Drama/Angst
Which of your stories are you most proud of? Why?
Peculiar and Good Night, Sweet Prince.
Did it unfold as you imagined it or did you find the unexpected cropped up as you wrote? What did you learn from writing it?
Oh, my goodness, the unexpected cropped up. Peculiar was only supposed to be a 25 chapter post-war, post-divorce AU that turned into this beautiful beast. Characters were created as I went, and some side characters became major plot devices or turning points. I learned that sometimes my brain knows what it is doing before I know what it is doing. There were hints and notes of what was going on that I wasn't even aware.
How personal is the story to you, and do you think that made it harder or easier to write?
There are points that are special to me. It made it easier and harder to write. Having experience with some subjects Hermione goes through makes it easier to translate the emotions into words, but simultaneously, some of those factors are trauma-based and I had to navigate myself through.
What books or authors have influenced you? How do you think that shows in your writing?
I draw influence from everything I read. That is a key reason I don't read anything similar to my current work while writing because I don't want to accidentally lift from someone else.
Do people in your everyday life know you write fanfiction?
Two of my roommates are readers and I get people barging into my room after a post a chapter yelling 'OH MY GOD'. I also have a typed and printed review handed in person to me by my roommate that is on my inspiration board where she says 'Fuck you, but with love'. My entire friend group knows I write fanfiction and I get some of them to read it from time to time. My mom won't read peculiar until it is finished because she doesn't want to nag me for chapters.
How true for you is the notion of "writing for yourself"?
YES! I started Peculiar because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I wanted a high emotion, high stakes, drama and background rich fanfiction in which Hermione has completely broken and has given up on herself. Where she has nothing and no one and has lost that spark in her. I wanted Ron bashing where he is a villain and yet isn't the same time. I wanted Severus to be indifferent to her at first and slowly discover her suffering and set out to help her for the sake of the school, and it develops into more through feelings severed early on just after the war. I wanted her to have to overcome trauma and recover for herself, not for Severus, but instead with him and that they heal from their past together while facing continuous challenges that attempt to tear them apart. Along with other factors that haven't come to be yet, so I won't want to spoil.
How important is it for you to interact with your audience? How do you engage with them? Just at the point of publishing? Through social media?
I love my audience. It actually brought me here. Shout out to Geek and Tattoo for bringing me to this group’s Discord server. I answer every comment, I respond to any statements or comments I notice on social media. I'm an open person with my audience, which is why when I had to go on hiatus, I told them exactly what was going on.
What is the best advice you've received about writing?
Write what feels best. If you don't like what you are writing, no one else is going to. If you don't want to write a certain scene but you need it, write an article or a letter about it.
What do you do when you hit writer's block?
I cry. Then I put on the music that inspired the story/scene and I pace my room, going over the potential dialogue and basically acting out what I think should happen until it sounds right.
Has anything in real life trickled down into your writing?
Yes. Many of my OC characters are modelled after some of my real-life friends. And some other events have easily transitioned into events that Hermione and Severus have gone through.
Do you have any stories in the works? Can you give us a teaser?
I am currently writing the next chapter for Peculiar. I won't give a teaser, but I will say that Hermione and Severus give Rita Skeeter a delicious taste of revenge.
Any words of encouragement to other writers?
Don't stop, but also be kind to yourself. Not every writing session is going to be your best, but you won't have better days if you give up. Also, if someone doesn't like what you write, forget them, as long as you are happy with it, that is what matters.
Thanks so much for giving us your time.

Fanfiction Questions meme
6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
Oh, geez... I’ve been involved in so many fandoms, LOL. I don’t really know if I can/should name them all. I’ll give you the ones (ONLY OTPs - doesn’t mean I don’t ship other things, too) I can think of off the top of my head.
Kiba/Hinata (Naruto), Fakir/Ahiru (Princess Tutu), Stiles/Derek (Teen Wolf), Kirito/Lisbeth (Sword Art Online), Harry/Hermione (Harry Potter), Goku/Bulma (Dragon Ball), Yusuke/Botan (Yu Yu Hakusho), Todoroki/Izuku (BNHA), (better!)Bakugo/Uraraka (BNHA), Toph/Aang (ATLA), and Adrien/Marinette (Miraculous Ladybug)!
7. List your NoTPs from each fandom you’ve been in.
(This isn’t meant to be hate on the ships I name! I just don’t ship them, that’s all! Ship and let ship! ;))
Naruto/Sasuke (Naruto), Kirito/Asuna (Sword Art Online), Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter), Harry/Ginny (Harry Potter), Goku/Chichi (Dragon Ball), Yusuke/Keiko (Yu Yu Hakusho), Bakugo/Izuku (BNHA), and Aang/Katara (ATLA).
19. Is there a ship (in your current fandom) which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?
I’m not sure I have a ‘current fandom’ since I live for, like, everything at once, but maybe technically Naruto would be it?
In that case (again, no offense to anyone - and removing the ‘I wish I could get behind’ part ‘cause I do not), NaruSasu. I just...don’t get it? At all? Maybe it’s the ‘what could have been’s or whatever, but when you just take the series at face value, that relationship is...really icky, at least to me, and that’s putting it lightly. It’s so damn unhealthy, especially for poor Naruto. They were never even friends, Sasuke always treated him like shit, and yet...?! *throws hands at half+ of OG series and virtually all of Shippuden* IDK, man. Something’s weird there, and I don’t like it. Can’t support that. Naruto deserves better, damn it. (*casually links her Naruto AU fic where he DOES get better (in more ways than one), TYVM*)
20. Any ships (in your current fandom) which you surprised yourself by liking?
Going with Naruto again, so. Hmm... I guess maybe Kankuro/Tenten? I didn’t even know that was a ship until a friend showed me a really good fic, and I was hooked! lol.
Another might be KakaObi, but only in AUs where Obito survives the cave in and gets out with Kakashi and Rin and recovers, continuing to be the sweetheart he is instead of the ass he turned out to be in canon. Because he, too, deserved better, damn it!
Another is one I might have made up, not sure (mostly in the context of my Naruto AU, NGL), lol: Karin/Shikamaru! It makes sense and there are lots of compelling reasons when you break it down! You know, 'cause Shikamaru would need (or probs at least prefer) someone on his smarts level, and she's a genius, too, just in a different way. And once she mellows out, Karin's really cool, and (in my AU) she grows to eventually adore Naruto (actually fights to defend/protect him in the Pein arc!), and anyone who loves Naruto is good in Shikamaru's book! lol. Plus, she can tell him when he has his genius brain twisted in too many directions, tell him he's being an idiot and help him figure things out in her different way. lol. IDK, I like it!
30. What inspires you to write?
I just...love writing?? I’ve wanted to be an author since I was 8-9 years old, started writing when I was 11, and I’ve been writing ever since! I’m 27 now! I’ve had a few dry spells, ofc, but I always end up coming back! I just feel like writing is in my blood (partly because, I like to joke, my last name is the title of one of Shakespeare’s plays, haha)!
Pretty much anything can inspire me to write, though. I’ll see a pretty flower and be like “OOH, that flower could feature perfectly in this chapter in this way!” and then write 1k about that! lol. Or I could read a review of one of my new chapters and end up thinking of something I’d never considered before and then write almost 3k on that alone (looking at you, middle section of Ch 6 of my Naruto AU, lol)!
Basically, if it sparks joy, I’m gonna write something! X’D
31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?
Nicest?? Hmm... I mean, I’ve had a lot of things said about my writing... Not sure I can really narrow it down? lol.
I guess the nicest things I’ve ever been told are when I make people cry (espec multiple times!) and actually feel the emotions the characters are feeling, that the characters and their development feel so real that it’s like they’re real people instead of fictional/they’re written so much better than the creator himself wrote them. (Been getting those a lot on my Naruto AU, actually. lol.)
32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?
I tend to prefer silence while I write, but sometimes, my house is loud and people keep breaking my concentration (house of 5, lots of animals, not the quietest, lol), I sometimes listen to music. I usually prefer instrumental, and then usually Naruto or Wolf’s Rain (sometimes Princess Tutu, too) instrumental tracks. The Naruto one I like best also has rain sounds mixed in, which is great because I love the sound of rain! Woo! (Here’s a link to that one if anyone else wants in on this! ;))
39. What is your greatest strength as a writer?
Emotions and getting into the nitty-gritty stuff therein. As an extremely visual, emotional writer, I’ve always been able to feel the emotions of the characters pretty much exactly how they’re feeling it in the moment and then put it on paper. I also make people cry a lot with my writing and get them to feel what the characters do, so that’s awesome! It’s always my goal to get my readers to feel things because then I feel like they’ve really connected with the story and characters I’ve written!
40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Transitions are dicks. Sometimes I struggle ‘cause it’s been, like, two seconds or five hours, and I don’t know how to show that, lol. If I can, espec with the last one, I just fade to black. lol.
Also, sometimes I feel like I use the same sentence structure a lot, mostly the ‘..., but...’ format (at least lately). It’s really annoying, and I worry my readers notice and get annoyed/think I suck because of it. lol.
41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
“All the ways I say ‘I love you’” by Leonardo_Charles_BlueWood_21 (Fandom: Ninjago)
“Paradise Lost” by AnchoredTether (Fandom: Voltron Legendary Defender (Zootopia-esque dark AU))
“where my armor ends” by dalniente (Fandom: She-Ra Princesses of Power)
“of cats and curses” by faerialchemist (Fandom: She-Ra Princesses of Power x Fruits Basket crossover)
“Mischief is its Own Reward” by dalniente (Fandom: Megamind)
43. Is there anyone in your fandom who really inspires you?
I don’t really read Naruto fanfic too much anymore, so like...I guess, technically, another main fandom of mine right now is Fruits Basket, so: without a doubt, @kyosohmastan ! They’re my absolute favorite Fruits Basket fanfic author! Everyone’s so in character, the writing is so sweet and feelsy, steamy when it needs to be, and I really love the writing itself - it’s just so well done and beautiful and I die happily when they post a new fic or chapter? Ahhh! Plus, they’re just so nice and talented in so many ways, we have the same opinions on certain things (like Kakeru Manabe is Too Much(TM) for us, haha, no offense to those who like him! lol.), and I just really, really feel blessed to know and read their fics! Love them so! <3
44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?
I’m not sure which ship this is talking about? Hmm... But a ship I definitely think (have always thought) needs more attention is Kirito/Lisbeth from Sword Art Online! It’s so slept on, and that is a damn fucking shame because they’re so healthy and sweet and have so much more amazing potential than they’re given credit for (way freaking more than the actual canon couple, just sayin’, no offense to anyone who likes the pairing)! I have written a good few metas (and a fanfic) on the subject (some/most of which are on my Lisbeth RP blog, actually, lol)! If anyone wants to discuss/RP/anything involving this ship, please let me know! Would love it!
45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?
I’m not sure I have a favorite fic. But one that I always come back to (all of her (mostly G1) My Little Pony fics, actually - first found them when I was, like, 12, and have kept rereading over and over through the years, haha) is A Mother in Her Eyes by LoveLikeElena on FFN. It takes place in the author’s own MLP universe, but I love said universe so much, and her takes on the characters are amazing and so sweet! I love her look at the serious subjects that follow the characters through her ongong MLP series! <3
51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Fanfic readers have become really, really lazy. No one reviews anymore, maybe leave a kudos here and there if you’re lucky (I have a major love-hate (more hate) relationship with kudos...), and it’s so, so, so discouraging to us writers! I wish they knew how it felt, to be honest, espec the ones you know are reading, but just...don’t comment. It’s ridiculously disheartening to work so hard on something for days, weeks, even months or years on something, only to get basically nothing in return. It’s like posting into the void, and it sucks ass. It’s part of what made me quit writing for a good few years, actually, and I’m so sad to see that it’s still a thing. I comment on everything I read because I know how it feels and how much it hurt! It hurts like hell, especially because I remember how it used to be just 6-8 years ago when everyone commented! I desperately pray the fanfic/content consuming world fixes that really soon or we might lose some really amazing writers! Please, even an emoji or keyboard smash! I don’t care, I’ll take anything (and I know I’m not the only one)! <3

"The fact that the two of them were in detention came as no surprise to the headmaster, Professor Dumbledore. What had landed them in detention, however, was surprising to him. In Hermione’s own words she had “Kinda, sorta hit Malfoy with a sex transition hex.” In retribution, Malfoy had casted a horn-growing hex. This had all happened right as Mr. Filch was passing by. Thence the two of them got detention, which consisted of them both writing a 500 word apology to one another." Whilst in detention after turning Draco Malfoy into a female, Hermione notices something odd. Obviously Draco brushes her off. Though after many questions about the spell she used and her stumbling across him in the library crying. He finally opens up and tells her what is going on. Hermione helps Draco navigate the hard path of transitioning, coming out in a cruel world and coming to terms with the feelings she's developed for her supposed rival.

Pre- Troll Hermione just all around makes more sense if she's black.
Now, I admit, I don't know a lot about British Black culture, but I know a ridiculous amount about American black culture. I do not think it'd be wrong to believe that at least some aspects would be similar, though if it comforts anyone who knows Black British history and culture, you can just assume that I'm assuming she is actually an American Black who moved to Britian shortly before receiving her letter.
To preface further, I have always struggled with the simple idea that after fighting the troll Hermione simply became friends with Harry and Ron. I have always wanted to know more about Hermione during that time besides she's just a rule following, know-it-all. I find thinking of Hermione with a similar history to Black Americans makes the transition a bit smoother. So:
1. The rule following makes sense if she's black. She has probably been raised to feel that she can have everything taken due to the color of her skin (it's a bit more complex in reality, but I'm not trying to write a full book right this second). She's used to harsher punishments. She's used to things being pinned on her even when she had no involvement. Her skin put a target on her, so she had to play it all very carefully.
2. Hermione is smart. Really smart for her age and period. She may have internalized following the rules but consciously she would be infuriated that these boys would keep flaunting them. If we then head canon Harry as a POC (I like some middle eastern heritage myself), then we can see Harry's attitude to rules as the other possible outcome for a POC, which is an utter distrust of authority figures and a general belief that you have to fight your own battles if you want something to be done. Hermione however would see this little boy of color and be worried internally but externalize it with anger and shaming, because that likely was how she had elders condition her.
3. Hermione would have dealt with bias leading up, she probably thought the Wizarding World was exempt as no one looked at her and acted differently. No, in the wizarding world, the burn would probably be slower for muggle borns to realize the prejudice. Some of them might get unlucky early on, but most of them probably don't encounter it first hand until Hogwarts. Then it's a luck of the draw to what house they are in and who they have classes with. She had learned prior to the wizarding world to use her intelligence as armor. People didn't judge a smart black girl as harshly. Even if she was a know it all, better that then to be judged for being too black. However, the wizarding worlds prejudices are more complicated. Intelligence protects against a lot of muggle born bias (although "for a muggle born" still gets added on to most compliments), but in a house like Gryffindor, where many blood traitors and half blood reside, that same behavior would only turn the impulsive Gryffindors against you. So what was armor would have turned into her own crucifix in the house that valued bravery over intellect.
4. Hermione would have a hard time figuring out why people hated her. She wouldn't analyze every interaction. Now, was it a question of blood, race, or abrasive attitudes. The last would be the hardest to self reflect on.
5. What Ron said was not actually that extreme, not to warrant a hideaway in a bathroom, unless you believe Hermione had been trying for awhile to make friends in the way she knew how to in the racist muggleworld. Those same techniques backfired on her. She would have gone into the wizarding world expecting a new chance, and Ron's statement only reinforced that, if anything, it was worse here then in the muggle world.
6. The troll attack would have clicked some things into place for Hermione.
First, she would have been struggling to figure out how Harry had gotten away with so much. Not consciously, but subconsciously, it would take staring into the professors with a troll behind her for it to click that she would not be judged harshly here (with these individuals) for her race. Rather, there was another metric they measured trouble on, and it seemed to be one largely of whether you were successful and had achieved justice. She didn't know in that moment why Harry and Ron had come, she didn't even know if they had known she was away from the table (I actually suspect she thought they had done exactly what she lies and said she had done, minus the reading part). So she made a calculated risk, thinking this would be judged heroic enough to save the lot of them from the worst punishments (later when she is caught out after sending Norbert out, she cannot find the same feeling of heroism so she reverts to her old habits).
Second, even if she didn't know why Harry and Ron had turned up, the simple matter is they came to save her. Having been bullied and harassed by adults and children alike for her race growing up, watching friends and supposed allies stand by as it happened, them running to help her mattered. I think if they had immediately said something to save themselves or indicate in any way they were doing this simply for glory, she would have never been friends after the troll incident. However, they stumbled and hesitated, and something told her they were trying to save her, not gain glory for fighting a troll.
Third, Ron was teachable if he could get that stupid spell down. Sure, he was insufferable and riffed on her all the time, but Hermione would value a friend who didn't allow any harm to come to her or anyone else to talk shit about her. She could shape him eventually.

Lesson Learned
Pairing: Snermione (Snape x Hermione)
Warning: bullying, teacher x student
They slowly circled each other, holding their wands at the ready, tips almost touching. Snape glowered at Hermione. “You must block my mind, hide your thoughts from me. Don’t let me in,” he said again, in his sneering, contemptuous drawl; his smooth and velvety voice, as always, sending shivers up and down her body. “Ah,” she thought. “But that’s exactly what I intend to do.”
It started two years ago, after one of Harry’s Occlumency lessons with Snape, when he had unintentionally caught glimpses into Snape’s mind. With his curiosity piqued, he ventured into the Pensieve, hoping to find Snape’s true loyalties. Instead, he witnessed a memory of Snape as a gangly, awkward, teenaged student at Hogwarts, being horribly bullied by Harry’s father and his friends. Unfortunately, Harry’s transgression did not go unnoticed as Snape caught him red-handed, and had exploded with anger. Harry could only imagine how humiliating it must have been for Snape to have this embarrassing moment exposed. Therefore, it came as no surprise to him when Snape immediately terminated his Occlumency lessons.
Despite Harry’s hatred for Snape, he was actually extremely distressed at seeing his father and the other two people Harry trusted, Sirius and Lupin, treating Snape so cruelly. In a way, Harry almost felt sullied by their behavior, as if he himself were tainted by it. Mostly, though, he felt betrayed. Harry was glad when Snape cancelled the lessons. But Hermione, recognizing the enormity of the situation convinced Harry that he needed Occlumency lessons more than he needed his pride, if he was going to keep Voldemort from controlling his mind. She was right. He knew what he had to do.
Harry went to Snape’s office and knocked on his door. Snape opened it. “Potter. What is it that you want?” he said, in a tone of pure contempt. “Sir, I…I want to talk to you. May I come in?” Snape consented to let him in, but did not ask him to have a seat, and asked, “Well? What is it?” Harry swallowed nervously. This was going to be harder than he had anticipated. “I…I want to…” he fumbled his words, almost losing his nerve. But he held tight to his Gryffindor courage, as the guilt for what his father had done was eating him up inside. He had to say it, if only for his own sake, to ease his own conscience. “I want say…that I’m sorry,” he finally said. Snape’s eyes opened a little with a look of surprise, raising one eyebrow in his usual fashion.
“If you’ve come to apologize for your trespass into the Pensieve, you can save your breath,” Snape hissed. “You are a pompous brat, just like your arrogant, pig of a father. Your actions were inexcusable, and I have absolutely no intention of taking you back as a pupil of Occlumancy.” “No! That’s not what I meant,” Harry blurted out. “Oh? And what is it that you’re sorry about?” he asked facetiously, clearly enjoying this. “What I meant… What I mean is… I’m sorry…for what my father did.” Harry stopped, braving a glance at Snape, to see how he was taking this. Snape was sitting perfectly still, staring at him with what looked like disbelief. Harry continued. “For how he treated you. What he did; how he behaved. And Lupin, and Sirius. I don’t blame you for hating them. They deserved it!” He said this last with a strangled burst of pain and anger; anger that his dad and his friends could have been so cruel, and his pain at their betrayal of his idealized image of them.
Harry waited uncomfortably while Snape continued to simply stare down at him, his expression going from amazement to eminent satisfaction. Apparently savoring the moment, he finally said, “Apology accepted.” Harry hoped that having realized he was being sincere Snape would offer him a second chance. He knew Snape had been asked to teach him Occlumency by Dumbledore, knowing he desperately needed the ability in order to protect himself from Voldemort. “Would you like to continue the lessons, then?” he asked, not without a slight scowl. Harry smiled in relief, and nodded in agreement.
Harry continued his lessons, finally mastering Occlumency by the end of the year. The enmity between the two of them never completely healed, but it had lessened enough to allow them to work together. Then Dumbledore discovered the seven Horcruxes, and had enlisted Hermione, Harry, and Ron’s help in finding and destroying them all. Throughout July and August they had toiled at the arduous task, finally succeeding in destroying Voldemort just before the end of their summer holiday. “Holiday, indeed,” thought Hermione, snorting at the irony. Snape was offered the job of Master of Defense Against the Dark Arts, but he had actually declined, to everyone’s astonishment. He had apparently realized that Potions was his true calling after all. Hermione had begun to see Snape in a different light after that. His amazing wizarding and potion making skills, as well as his undeniable courage in having acted as a double agent for Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix couldn’t help but impress her. Her admiration for him, along with the compassion she already felt for him as a result of the childhood he suffered according to Harry slowly transitioned into feelings of deep sensual attraction.
She began to long to be near him, to hear his silky, hypnotic voice speaking to her, and her alone, instead of to the whole class. It repulsed, and even frightened her. How could she like Professor Snape? It wasn’t just that he was so old; he was also completely hateful and repugnant, or at least he had been, for the first five years of her life as a student. She tried to shake it off, dismiss it as a silly schoolgirl infatuation. An appalling one, though, that she couldn’t share with anyone, most certainly not her two best friends, Harry and Ron. She had never been good at making friends, and she had grown more and more isolated as she grew older. Her friendship with Harry and Ron had been pure luck, she reckoned. But now they had their own lives and girlfriends as well, leaving Hermione isolated, with no one to help her make sense of her situation, nor to confide in. By the end of her sixth year, her feelings had intensified into something much more than a mere crush, or even infatuation. She was in love. She realized it was not just a physical attraction, although that was certainly a part of it. She loved him for his intellect; his sharp genius of a mind, as well as his sarcastic wit that she recognized as his shield against anyone seeing beyond his harsh exterior, into his true self. She herself had her own shield as well, namely the drive to excel and outdo everyone else at everything in order to hide her own insecurities.
All throughout her sixth year, she had tried to convince herself that it was just a schoolgirl infatuation, and a warped one, at that; but it hadn’t worked. She was hopelessly, desperately, head over heels in love with the man. That year, Hermione had taken a sudden intense interest in Potions, even announcing at the end of the year that she intended to become a Potions Mistress. Ron and Harry had of course thought she was cracked. Her social life, never having been a priority in her life, had been completely abandoned. She had only been able to think of two things: her studies, and him. Now, one month into her seventh year, she had come up with the plan to ask him to give her private Occlumency lessons, thinking that it would allow her private time with him. She also wanted him to see into her mind, and what she felt for him. Her plan for tomorrow night’s lesson was to concentrate with all her might on how much she loved and desired him, not shielding her thoughts in any degree from him; while at the same time try to penetrate his mind to see if he had any such feelings for her in return.
They continued to circle each other for another few moments. Hermione waited expectantly for him to cast the spell at any second, trying to be prepared for when he did. Suddenly, Snape yelled “Legilimens!” But Hermione was ready, and caught his movement in time to yell the same thing as the exact same time, at him. The force of their simultaneous spells created a blindingly intense light that exploded between their wands. They cringed with the force and the shock of it, dropping their wands, and shielding their eyes from the blazing light. Snape stared at her, wonder and joy suffused over his face, while she slowly blinked and came back to awareness of her surroundings. He had of course successfully blocked her attempted entry into his mind, she realized with disappointment.
But she felt sure he had nevertheless still managed to succeed in penetrating her mind. Before she knew what he was doing, he grabbed her, and almost roughly pulled her towards him. She looked up into his face, his ever-impenetrable black eyes gazing down into hers with a look of total awe. Then suddenly he brought his head down to hers, and drew her mouth into his with kiss after hungry kiss. Her hands wound themselves around his neck, her fingers running through his surprisingly silky jet-black hair. His kisses continued, now traveling down the side of her neck. Her head tilted back in ecstasy, and she reveled in the feel of his warm mouth on her skin, leaving traces of wetness as it traveled along her neck. Then, blessedly, his mouth was back on hers, once more covering her with burning kisses and she was falling, melting into him. Her hands wound around his waist, and then up his back. She felt the cloth buttons of his black frock coat beneath her fingers, and a thrill ran through her body. How she had longed for the past year to touch them, not to mention unbutton them, one by one!
Snape's hands slid up her arms, one hand caressing her shoulder, the other sensuously gliding up her neck and running through her hair. Cradling her head and the side of her face with his hand, he ran his thumb along the curve of her cheek. His other hand drifted down to the small of her back and drew her closer to him, causing his body to explode with long-pent up desire at the feel of her soft curves pressing against him. He couldn’t believe this was happening. The astounding revelation he had received when he had looked into her thoughts had completely rocked him to the core. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that Hermione could actually return any of the feelings, much less the desires, that he had for her.
And to discover that not only did she reciprocate those feelings and desires, but also that she returned them with such force, had left him reeling with stunned elation. It had just been too much. He hadn’t even known what he was doing, until he had found himself kissing her. Then he had been lost, totally powerless in the agonizing rush of desire that had flooded him. He hadn’t been able to control himself. But he knew it couldn’t be true, or at least not the way he had thought he had seen it in her thoughts. He knew what he had to do. Gathering his resolve, he pulled himself away from her mouth with an almost painful act of will, and pushed her a little away from him. “Hermione,” he said, slightly out of breath. “Miss Granger,” he corrected himself, a little late. “Please forgive me.”
She looked at him, disappointment and longing in her unfocused eyes. She couldn’t speak; she was so filled with jubilant triumph at what had happened, as well as confusion at what he was saying now. The only thing she could think of was having his lips back on hers, filling her body with that exquisite feeling she had longed for. “What do you mean?” she managed to ask. The self-reproach, even self-loathing, was evident in his voice. “I have behaved…shamefully. You have my most sincere apology. I will understand if you feel you have to report this…incident…to the proper authorities. I shall take full responsibility…” “How can you say that,” Hermione interrupted him, “when you know now how I feel about you?” “Miss Granger! You do not know what you’re saying! You cannot possibly feel for me what you think you feel. And this must never happen again! For many reasons, not the least of which is that you are an eighteen-year-old schoolgirl, and I am your thirty-seven-year-old professor.” He spoke the four words “thirty-seven-year-old” as distinct, sharply biting words.
His tone had reverted to the familiar reserved, and even haughty, tone that he almost always maintained. He continued, “The law is such that if even this one small…encounter…were ever discovered, I would not only be summarily dismissed from my job, but hauled into court at the Wizengamot, and probably even sent to Azkaban!” At these words, Hermione shuddered. She hadn’t realized what the repercussions of any kind of relationship between them would be, perhaps because she had never allowed herself to really believe that this could ever happen; it had just been an impossible fantasy. Azkaban! The wizard prison, where dementor guards roamed throughout the grounds, and the cells, depriving any person they passed of all hope and happiness, and filling them with utter despair, and the sense that they would never be free from the agony of their hopeless state. She couldn’t let that happen to him! She would die first! “Severus,” she whispered, her voice shaking with guilt. “Severus, please. I’m sorry. I didn’t think…” His arms lifted up slightly, and he leaned towards her. A thrill of delight went through her when she thought he was going to pull her back into another embrace. But then it looked as though he was fighting the urge to do so.
To her disappointment, his will prevailed, and he said, a little more gently, “It is not your fault. Please do not think that. But as long as we do not let it happen again, all will be well.” His voice was so velvety smooth, and soothing, but his words were like poison darts piercing her heart. Never again? She looked up into his dark eyes, and could see the affection he held for her that they betrayed. She didn’t know how she could go on, without ever knowing his touch again. But she said, “All right. We won’t.” But how could she stand it? She didn’t know; she only knew she didn’t have any choice; at least right now. In nine months, though, she would graduate, she thought to herself. She would be almost nineteen, and maybe he wouldn’t think she was too young, then. But now was not the time to present this idea to him. Snape walked to the door to his chambers and opened it. She walked slowly to the doorway and out into the hall. Then she stopped and turned around to look at him once more. “Goodnight,” he whispered. Then he slowly shut the door until, with his gaze still upon her all the while, it closed completely.

so i was just sitting in the bathroom thinking about family dinners at the weasleys and realized that how does (does?) harry transition from mrs. weasley to molly? like “pass the potatoes, molly” wtffffffff that’s so weird. so of course being me and sniggering about it in my head i decided to write a ficlet
“Molly” c. December 2003
“I do wish you’d bring her over for Sunday dinners, Percy,” Mrs. Weasley was complaining across the table at her third son. “You’re the only one in the family whose beau we don’t know.”
“That’s how it’s supposed to work,” replied Percy, irritably sawing his meat too forcefully for the china plate. It chipped, and he had to repair it as it had been dozens of times before with the tap of his wand.
“What do you mean, Perce?” asked George down the table, eyes wide. “Incest isn’t for everyone?”
Angelina smacked him hard on the arm, while Hermione snorted heavily into her cup.
“I was a stranger among you once,” said Fleur, who was delicately clearing by hand and making Mrs. Weasley scowl furiously at daring to even walk while carrying her second grandchild in her large, protruding stomach. Fleur was always so put together, that to Harry she looked as if she had swallowed a quaffle and wrapped it in silk maternity clothes. When he mentioned this to Ron, he had only opened his mouth before Ginny elbowed it shut with a roll of her eyes.
“We had met you at Harry’s Triwizard Cup,” said Bill at once, who was carefully dabbing at Victoire’s mouth while she wielded a wriggling plastic spoon of mashed potatoes. “You were in all the papers. We knew you.”
“Yes, and Audrey is an unknown!” agreed Mrs. Weasley, seeming to think Bill was squarely on her side, and Percy rolled his eyes at him irritably. Instead, he gestured at his other older brother.
“Pick on Charlie. Charlie’s not dating anyone.”
“And I don’t intend to,” said Charlie into his spelled-icy stein of beer. He was nursing several bad burns on his forearms. “With a job like mine, I’d never have time for anyone but the dragons.”
“And Charlie loves his dragons,” Ginny put in from Harry’s side defensively.
“Yes, Percy, don’t be mean to Charlie,” said George, all wide eyed innocence that made Mrs. Weasley fire up at once and grow bigger in her seat, afraid they really were picking on Charlie.
“I’ll bring Audrey to dinner,” mumbled Percy at once, shoving his glasses up his face.
“Yeah, how about next Sunday, for the first Sunday of Advent?” prodded Hermione, smiling angelically at Percy’s glower, though usually they got on quite well.
“Oh Percy, that would be lovely. We’ll start having little Christmas teas before dinner this month,” agreed Mrs. Weasley at once. There was a rush from the fireplace and Mr. Weasley stepped out to a chorus of groans from his family. Charlie, George, and Ginny all made farting noises with their mouths, flapping their elbows as Mr. Weasley held up two hands apologetically.
“I know, I know, I’m late,” he consoled. “Kingsley had me-”
“‘Kingsley had me,’” parroted George as Ginny snickered. “Oh Dad’s getting so chummy with the Minister he’ll soon turn into Percy!”
The table laughed uproariously, Percy going a brighter blood red as he shoveled his fork around his plate, smiling horribly.
“Any food left?” asked Mr. Weasley a little hopelessly as he tipped bowls scraped clean with spoons towards him.
“On the stove,” said Mrs. Weasley briskly.
“I’ll get it!” Harry jumped up. “And there’s a chair next to Ginny.”
Ginny pulled out the chair for her father, smiling up at him while Fleur levered herself down next to Victoire, petting her white blonde hair with love, encouraging her to eat the cooked carrots Bill was carefully chopping into bite sized pieces.
Harry put the full plate Mrs. Weasley had put aside for her husband in front of Mr. Weasley.
“Thank you Harry,” he said tiredly, picking up fork and knife.
“And?” asked Mrs. Weasley pointedly.
“And you, dear,” added Mr. Weasley.
“Harry, do you have any more potatoes?” asked Mrs. Weasley, craning her neck down the table.
Harry tilted several bowls until he found some. “Here, Mrs. Weasley,” and he set the potatoes floating down towards her open hands.
“Thank you dear,” she said, spooning some onto her plate, and then on Fleur’s empty one for good measure as well, scowling furiously until Fleur took a perfunctory bite and passed them instead to Bill.
“And Harry,” the table went very quiet, Angelina and George freezing where they had been balancing four spoons on the end of their noses, trying to fight each other with their faces. Ron was picking apart a roll and throwing it at them, trying to dislodge the charmed spoons.
“I’d really prefer if you and Hermione would follow Angie’s lead and call me Molly.”
Harry felt himself going blood red, and Ginny began silently snickering in her seat while the spoons off George’s nose clattered to his floor without his charmed concentration.
“Oh...er...” stammered Harry, but Hermione beat him to it, her own brown eyes glinting with humor.
“Sure, Molly, I’d like that.”
Ron choked on his own beer, need George to whack him hard between the shoulderblades while Harry glared at Hermione across the table, his own tongue thick and awkward.
“Oh...er...” Harry repeated again, and Mrs. Weasley looked up, as if pretending she hadn’t seen any of the previous dramatics.
“What?” she asked, hurt brown eyes huge. “Don’t you feel a part of this family?”
Harry felt the tang of acid on his tongue. “Er...”
“You and Ginny are practically married, like Ron and Hermione. And now we have grandchildren coming in. And Angie and George are-”
“Okay!” yelled George hastily. “No big ideas, Mum!”
“Mum!” Ron butted in loudly. “Just leave Harry alone! If he doesn’t want to, he doesn’t have to!”
“He doesn’t want to?” Mrs. Weasley said, hurt.
“I want to!” said Harry, just as loudly.
“What are you shouting for?” Bill shouted, as Victoire began to cry, her three year old lungs lusty and loud.
“You are all upsett-eeng my leetle girl!” Fleur cried, swinging Victoire into her arms.
“Molly,” said Arthur helplessly. “Harry doesn’t have to.”
“It’s not that,” stammered Harry.
“Bill, I am going upstairs to put Victoire to bed.”
“I can do it!” Bill jumped up.
“We shall both go,” said Fleur decisively.
“Fancy a game of quaffle catch, George, Angie?” Charlie said, hastily slamming his mug down on the table. “It’ll be like old times on the team.”
“Oi! I’ll come!” Ron hurried to butt in. Harry dug his nails into Ginny’s wrist as she tried to jump up after them.
“Hermione, have you seen-” Percy began, but he needn’t have bothered; Hermione was already making her hasty excuses to Mr. Weasley and practically towing Percy forward with a loud:
“Oh yes! I’ll help you pick a Christmas gift for Audrey!”
Now it was only Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Mrs. Weasley at the end of the table in her matriarch’s throne, and Mr. Weasley in a hastily drawn up chair next to Ginny. Mr. Weasley was steadily and studiously salting his peas.
“Mrs. W-” Harry began, but Mrs. Weasley stopped him with a look.
“Now Harry,” she began fiercely. “How long have you been a part of this family?”
Harry glanced helplessly at Ginny, but Mrs. Weasley interrupted him again.
“No! Not just with Ginny! But since Ron and those boys-” she never quite managed Fred’s name - “brought you home in Arthur’s stupid flying car! I went to bed with six sons, and woke with seven!”
Harry was feeling very queer, like perhaps he had eaten one too many of those hot buttered rolls, and they were working in a solid lump down his intestines, doubling back rather a lot.
“And it didn’t matter that you didn’t quite look like us,” Mrs. Weasley continued ruthlessly. “It only meant one more color at Christmas, and I’d been wanting to add green for ages.”
Harry realized she was eyeing his very old and shabby too-small sweater that had been let out at the seams with an engorgement charm. It was green, and had a gold dragon on the front.
“And of course when you...went away...” A horrible, awkward silence, and Ginny flipped her hand under the table to grip Harry’s, Harry dropping his gaze in embarrassment and shame at the reference to horcrux hunting.
“I told Molly we should have you call us Aunt and Uncle,” put in Mr. Weasley unexpectedly, scraping his plate for the last of his peas. “Probably around your third year before Sirius and Remus.”
Harry flinched at the names, and Mr. Weasley kindly pretended not to notice.
“But she said it might be too horrible after your real aunt and uncle.”
Harry had to smile at that, and Mr. Weasley beamed appreciatively. “Never quite did get over meeting them in their parlor,” Mr. Weasley shook his head pensively, and this time Harry laughed, recalling the disastrous explosion and Fred’s ton tongue toffee.
“So,” said Mrs. Weasley decisively. “If you won’t call us Aunt and Uncle, and you and Ginny keep on-”
“Mum!” interrupted Ginny hotly.
“Then I think it’s only fair you call us by our names, properly,” said Mrs. Weasley, not heeding her daughter’s flashing brown eyes, so similar to her own.
“Er...alright,” said Harry awkwardly.
“It shouldn’t be hard,” said Mr. Weasley affably. “In the Order, you heard everyone call us Molly and Arthur.” And Harry was hit with a gut wrenching twist at the reminder of Lupin’s words about her children:
“For heaven’s sake Molly, would we let them starve?”
Harry managed to nod, and let go of Ginny’s hand. He stood, grabbing a plate.
“Oh Harry, just leave them,” waved Mrs. Weasley, but Harry neatly spelled them to stack in the sink, still not proficient enough at kitchen spells to get them to wash themselves.
“Dinner was delicious,” Harry heard himself saying, as if from far away. “Thank you, Molly.”

Found my old notes for the fanfiction where Harry gets turned into a werewolf. The only thing I forgot to mention is my later development that it’s a Drarry fic later... You can read it if you like, it’s just exceptionally long and full of spoilers. If I ever get the darn thing written that is...
“Past” Harry manages to stun Ratman (Peter Pettigrew) and the traitor doesn't escape. This is how Sirius is cleared of all charges and allowed to take custody of Harry.
In this world, Harry was going to get bitten either way. Either past Harry would have gotten charged by Were-Lupin and bitten sooner, or Time Turner Harry would have gotten bitten later in the forest.
They stop to see past Harry throwing a rock at were-Lupin, then freezing when were-Lupin starts to charge him.
Hermione raises her hands to cup her mouth and howls. “A-woooo!”
Harry grabs her hands and forces them down. “What are you doing?”
“Saving your life!” Hermione does it again. “A-wooooooo!”
Were-Lupin stops attacking past Harry.
Harry: “Thanks.”
Were-Lupin then bounds toward them.
Harry: “Great. Now he's coming for us.”
Hermione: “Yeah, didn't think about that. Run!”
They run deeper into the forest, through old trees with little underbrush, uneven ground, and many exposed roots.
Were-Lupin is after them, shaking bushes and tearing up dirt as he runs.
Harry trips on some roots, but is up again almost immediately.
Hermione grabs his hand and they hide behind a big, old tree, pressing their backs against it.
They can hear Were-Lupin pacing around, and sidle around the tree to stay out of his sight, Hermione first. (She seems to be taking initiative here!)
Were-Lupin utters a small growl, perhaps wondering why there is no female werewolf?
The sound of cicadas.
Were-Lupin howls, and it sounds faint. Far away?
So the two continue moving around the tree, looking where they think Were-Lupin is.
Hermione actually leads Harry backward straight toward Were-Lupin!
She didn't mean to, and Were-Lupin can move very silently. He'd circled around them.
Once Were-Lupin spots them, he growls and moves in … for the kill. Most likely.
There's not enough time to run, and Harry protects Hermione with his own body.
When Harry is attacked by Were-Lupin, Harry is shielding Hermione with his body and has his wand in his left hand. Harry seems to be a touch ambidextrious, and while holding his wand in his left hand seems mostly to free his right hand to do something else, he likely could cast spells that way with little trouble. Spells run through Harry's mind. A Protego spell isn't likely to work against a werewolf, Stupefy might be too weak. Harry thinks of the Immobulus spell and decides on it. In the fractions of a second it takes for him to decide and begin to say the spell, Lupin is on him. The werewolf lunges under Harry's outstretched left arm and bites his shoulder. The werewolf's jaws are powerful enough to shatter some of Harry's bones. The werewolf shakes his head, tossing Harry around like a terrier with a rat. Then Harry is tossed through the air, lands against a tree and falls to the ground. That's when Buckbeak comes in, but it's too late for Harry to avoid being bitten by the werewolf.
He doesn't really feel alert again until they're on Buckbeak flying to rescue Sirius, and the fresh sharp wind is blowing in his face.
When Harry and Hermione come back to the hospital ward, Harry is paler than usual, weak at the knees, and about to pass out from blood loss.
Dumbledore is at Harry's side as Snape prepares to seal the werewolf bite. Blood is still pouring out of the puncture wounds, coating Harry's whole left side and arm in crimson. Dumbledore explains to Harry that they can treat the wounds and allow Harry to live, as a werewolf – but it is entirely Harry's choice. Harry of course would much rather be alive than not.
Perhaps the bite burns, but the silver/dittany burns even more.
Probably in the hospital ward, while sealing the wound with the silver and dittany mixture, Harry would be in a great deal of pain, similar to a wound being cauterized with fire. It might even take several people to hold him down and complete the procedure.
Snape is brought in to bring a Calming Draught, among other potions and the silver/dittany. Snape is preturbed, and later confronts Dumbledore. “You promised you would protect him!”
Harry briefly wakes up early the next morning, turns his head, and sees Lupin lying unconsious in the bed beside him.
When Lupin wakes up in the ward and realises he's attacked his dead best friend's son, he's utterly horrified. It's his worst nightmare. And he still has Harry's blood on his lips.
Harry wouldn't change immediately after being bitten, but rather the next full moon an entire month from then.
Hermione feels terrible, like it's her fault that Harry got bitten, because she howled to lure Lupin away but ended up drawing him closer to Harry. However, Harry points out that if she hadn't howled, he'd have been bitten at a much less convinient time.
Sirius, Harry, and Lupin stand before Dumbledore. The young werewolf is nervous. However, the Dursleys don't have the resources needed to care for Harry anymore, not now that he needs specialized potions and a room to lock himself away in. (The cupboard under the stairs just won't do!) It is time to break the protective spell and let Harry live with his godfather.
Sirius, Lupin, and Dumbledore decide to move Harry into Sirius's house where Sirius can keep an eye on him and Lupin can help Harry adjust to being a werewolf. Lupin knows how to make the potion, for example, and can teach Harry coping methods for hiding his lycanthropy and dealing with the transformations. Besides, living with his godfather is a better situation than living with the Dursleys.
Dumbledore puts in a good word (or several) for Sirius, and SB swaggers out of his trial at the Ministry with pride. “Sirius Black is a free man!” He's been totally vindicated. And maybe he enjoys spooking a couple of wizards in the Ministry as they leave, but mostly he behaves himself now. Also he registers as an official Animagus.
In Sirius's house, there will be a room set aside to keep Harry safe during the full moon, a plain, bare room enchanted with Silencing Spells among other things.
Harry grazes. All the time. At least when it's not the week before the full moon. He'll just go in the kitchen and get a bit of everything, astonished that he can. Perhaps, with unlimited access to food (even though it's not the best, considering who's cooking it) he even gains a few inches of height and a few muscles. Eventually Lupin, who is the only one of the trio who can cook, starts preparing meals.
How would Sirius deal with two moody werewolves in his house right before the full moon?
Lupin teaches Harry everything he knows about being a werewolf.
What I headcanon is this: the “cycle” is the six days before the full moon and the full moon day itself. Symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting if one does eat (no matter what it is), a steadily growing ache in the bones and joints, a “restlessness” within one's own skin, growing sleeplessness, and a chronic inability to stay warm. Sweaters are much appreciated by werewolves.
Lupin tries to teach Sirius and Harry how to brew Wolfsbane Potion, but Lupin cannot make the complete potion – it's only good enough for them to keep their heads while transforming. Only Snape knows how to make the perfect potion, which allows the werewolves to sleep through the transformation.
“Wear something you don't mind being ripped to shreds,” Lupin advises, the day of the first full moon since Harry was bitten.
Harry makes sure to remove his glasses before the full moon rises.
“I refuse to be afraid of the moon, Lupin.”
Even as a werewolf, the lightning bolt scar is still visible above Harry's right eye.
Were-Harry can't stand on his legs properly when he first transforms, flailing about like he's on stilts and faceplanting a lot. Every so often he still stumbles and falls, and Sirius can't help but snicker a little, although not unkindly. It's very truly comedic how Harry forgets how to walk as a werewolf. (Sometimes the same happens when he's human again.)
Sirius is on one end of a sofa, Were-Lupin has folded himself onto the other end. It's the middle of the night. Were-Harry is playfully riccocheting around the house behind their heads, breaking things. The energy of a teenage werewolf is often rather destructive... At least he's working it out on the furniture. Were-Harry streaks across the room behind the sofa. Something crashes and shatters. Sirius calmly takes a drink out of his goblet and says, “He'll grow out of it.” As Were-Harry streaks back through, Were-Lupin sighs through his nose.
Harry doesn't get the scars on his cheeks until after his first transformation.
In the behind the scenes, it is stated that they used scars on Lupin's face to sort of visually transition between the man and the wolf. It's not stated that all weres have them, but it's a logical conclusion and a headcanon I'll be running with. After all, stretching the facial skin like that is sure to damage it.
(Harry's scars: the lightning bolt over his right eye, the Basilisk scar on his arm, the bite scar on his left shoulder, and finally the scars on his cheeks once he transforms for the first time.)
Lupin's hand is on Harry's shoulder – his right, never his left. They've gone to the Werewolf Registry shortly after Harry's first transformation. The scars on his face are still new and tender. It's tense, getting Harry on the registry. They take a picture of him, Harry blinking his eyes in the bright light. As they leave, Harry is used to being stared at, but now there's a new shame in it. He really is a monster, isn't he? Lupin doesn't know what to tell him.
Harry's senses sharpen a little even when he's not transformed, and he finally understands why Lupin talks so quietly.
Sirius asks about Harry's years at Hogwarts, and Harry animatedly tells the tale of the Sorcerer's Stone and the Chamber of Secrets. Lupin supplies some details he's overheard whilst being a professor. Sirius is much amused, and also concerned that Harry seems to encounter danger so often that he's begun to refer to it casually.
Harry doesn't talk about the years he's spent at the Dursley's. It will take a long time for Sirius to coax even the smallest details out of him. Remember that Harry doesn't trust adults to solve or even care about his problems, so even when presented with a caring adult all to himself Harry would likely continue trying to quietly solve everything himself.
Harry and Sirius playing Quidditch somewhere, just barely out of the sight of Muggles.
Sirius accidentally calls Harry “James”, and in playful payback Harry calls Sirius by his middle name, “Orion.”
Harry and Sirius both have nightmares – Sirius comforts Harry with hugs, allowing Harry to silently climb into his lap even if its the middle of the night, and Sirius is the anchor that Harry's always longed for without knowing it.
Harry accidentally calls Sirius “dad.” He tries to apologize, but Sirius says he “would be honored” to be called that.
When Hermione and Ron show up at Sirius's house to see Harry, they are shocked at his staggeringly gaunt appearance, the effect of several transformations over the summer already. However, as it's a good time of the moon cycle, Harry is his usual jovial self.
It might take a while for Harry to completely trust Sirius, considering he fully believed his godfather was the reason his parents died.
However, Harry's trust of Lupin is also similarly shattered, having seen both the infinitely gentle wizard and the uncontrollably vicious werewolf. (Harry's Boggart is now Lupin transforming into a werewolf.) Although Harry understands that Lupin is harmless when he manages to get enough Wolfsbane potion, sometimes he flinches when Lupin touches him.
Scratch that, Harry flinches when anyone unexpectedly touches him. He doesn't exactly invite people into his personal space, not even his closest friends.
However, Were-Harry can be more receptive to physical contact, acting almost like a friendly dog at times. Of course, he tries to retain his decorum, but sometimes he can't help his instinct to nuzzle his family/friends and to play like a puppy. Although he is a teenager, Harry hasn't been allowed nearly enough opportunity to play and will frolic merrily. Of course, being safe in Black's house allows him to be more open with his real personality.
Harry is a snuggly, energetic werewolf. He climbs Sirius like Link climbs my mom, despite Sirius's protests. Lupin snorts in amusement.
In his next year at Hogwarts, Harry steals the supplies for the potion from Snape's private store. Snape is furious when he figures it out. However, next time Harry is forced to sneak back and steal more ingredients, he finds a box of them set aside, as if Snape left them for him...
What if Harry uses the Shrieking Shack like Lupin did, going there to hide while he transforms. And Hermione is at first too scared to go with him, but Ron follows Harry and he's shocked to see his best friend painfully turn into a werewolf in front of him. Some of Ron's fears are relieved when were-Harry lays his lupine head on Ron's leg, like an apologetic dog.
Ron, as I've said before, is the first to follow Harry to the Shrieking Shack in their fifth year and witness Harry's transformation into his lupine form. (Ron and Hermione saw Harry over the summer, but never when he wasn't human.) Harry overhears Ron telling Hermione what his behavior is like when transformed, “Rather dog-like actually. He likes having his ears scratched.” Eventually Hermione accompanies them too. It's rather Marauders like.
Ron figures out that were-Harry likes having his ears scratched, and merrily (in private) takes advantage of this by teasing Harry, trying to scratch his ears when he's human, which ends up with the two of them chasing each other and playfighting. (Of course Harry is very careful not to accidentally bite Ron, he's been told what werewolf saliva can do even when not transformed.) Ron and Harry eventually fall into a playful mocking of Harry's lycanthropy, while Hermione is the steady rock and feeds Harry advice she's learned from books. But she wouldn't mind too much if Harry lays with his head in her lap, and eventually begins to stroke his hair like she would if he were a dog.
Going to the Shrieking Shack is the worst in the winter. Harry wants to layer up in warm clothes, but he's only got so many to go around and repairing them is tricky. I think when he goes to the SS he would bring a spare set of clothes.
“You're going to kill yourself with that, Potter,” is Snape's curt statement when he walks in on Harry sneaking into the potions classroom to brew Wolfsbane on his own. Harry really did make a mistake, and if he drank it the potion would be lethal.
Harry tries to mend the very antagonistic relationship between himself and Snape when he realizes Snape saved his life that night and continues to help him with brewing Wolfsbane. Although they'll never be friendly, Harry can't find it in him to retain his usual level of anger toward the creepy professor. And while Snape does still fling insults at Harry, they don't have their normal venom.
That year is the Triwizard Cup. How would being the second Champion conflict with being a werewolf? And what would happen if his lycanthropy was outed?
“There's a problem with what day the second trial is. That's the day of the full moon!”
Dumbledore steps in and gets the trial stepped up a day. Harry is still sick, but it's not like he's going to transform in front of anybody.
When Sirius is killed in the Ministry battle, Harry nearly loses control and somewhat shifts into his were form, eyes flashing golden and teeth and nails growing sharper. However, as it's not a full moon, he doesn't entirely shift. He wants to maul Bellatrix, which is half of why he hesitates to use the killing curse on her, although ultimately he doesn't do either.
I imagine maybe a potential cease-fire with Draco, when Draco figures out that Harry's a werewolf. Why? Because Draco knows he's about to be heavily recruited into becoming a Death Eater. He doesn't want to be. And who does Voldemort not let be branded with the Dark Mark? Werewolves. But Harry biting Draco, even if it's with Draco's consent, would be very, very bad.
When hunting Horcruxes, they are unable to brew Wolfsbane. Luckily, Harry brewed loads of it and Hermione stored it in her “bloody beaded bag” for him. However, they didn't know the potion could go bad. After accidentally poisoning himself in the Black house, Harry always carries a few beozars (sp?) with him. That saved his life when he drank some of the spoiled potion. Ron and Hermione were outside, and he had to get the beozar himself. Ron and Hermione rush in to find Harry lying on his back, gasping for air and trying not to be nausous, spilled potion beside him.
There's a huge argument when they try to figure out what to do next. Harry is terrified that he's going to hurt his friends, and when Ron isn't convinced of his dangerousness Harry angrily describes Lupin's attack in graphic detail. Harry eventually comes up with the idea of using Imperio to control him, while Hermione wonders about Lockheart's dubious charm.
Hermione does use Imperio on were-Harry, ordering the snarling werewolf to “lay down” and “stay” like a dog. They keep a tense watch on the werewolf, who is a crouching bundle of snarling rage. However, the curse is enough to keep Harry contained until sunrise, when he painfully transforms back and sleeps the entire next day.
I think Harry would have a sort of instinct about knowing there's other werewolves about. His cheek scars tingle or burn, depending on who exactly the other werewolf is. Perhaps he begins examining the inherent instincts of the werewolf, discovering the innate sensing of pack heirarchies and the utter authority of the pack's Alphas. Lupin would be Harry's alpha, as they form a small two-wolf pack. That means Harry would unquestioningly obey Lupin in just about any situation. However, Harry eventually considers Hogwarts to be his territory and the students/staff to be his pack. As Hermione will say, “Don't threaten a werewolf's territory.”
Make Neville face off against Bellatrix!
Make Lupin and Harry fight Greyback!
After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry goes to find the surviving enemy werewolves. He challenges their Alpha, creepy scarf man, and ends up the leader of a large portion of the werewolf population. (He practically throws off waves of authority and alpha werewolf vibes.) He wants to fight the wizarding stigma against werewolves, though.
Eventually, Harry Potter becomes both one of the youngest Aurors ever and the first werewolf Auror. He's also responsible for some of the influence that leads to werewolves being less “cast out” of wizarding society.

Writing Advice
Some valuable tips I only realized after beta’ing something today.
Please make sure to spell names with a capital letter. This is one of the most obvious things in writing, and a huge turnoff when done wrong. The word that starts the sentence is always capitalized as well.
Learn about the dialogue tags and punctuation. It honestly isn’t that hard. I promise. @olivieblake made two great posts here and here. It’s all you need to know.
Learn about commas. I still have problems with this, but the rules are really simple. Here, here, and here are three great guides that will help you learn. A quick Google search will lead to an answer if you have any doubts. You can always ask your beta, too.
Learn the difference between dashes and hyphens.
- is a hyphen. It connects two parts of a compound construction. Example: star-crossed, gluten-free, Granger-Malfoy.
– is an en-dash. Generally used to show “distance” between two things. Example: June–September, ages 30–40.
is an em-dash. Example: We visited three cities—London, Paris, and Tokyo. The prisoner—who was very thin—tried to escape through the bars. “I am not—” Hermione said, but Draco interrupted her rudely.
Here are three tutorials to help you. [ one ] [ two ] [ three ]
Learn about different punctuation marks and where to use them. Here’s a guide. A quick Google search can lead to more results.
Use transition words.
Example:
Hermione finally graduated from Hogwarts. She was very happy. She could now start working at the Ministry. She wanted to make a difference in the world
Can be rewritten as:
Hermione finally graduated from Hogwarts, which made her very happy. She could now start working at the Ministry, where she could make a difference in the world.
Much smoother, right?
Learn about some confusing words.
Example: effect and affect, altogether and all together, discreet and discrete, vile and vial, advice and advise, here and hear, there and their and they’re, right and write.
Here’s some more.
Decide whether you want to write in American or British.
Staying consistent throughout the story is very important. Some words and phrases have different spellings in American and British. Choose one!
Example: color and colour, favor and favour, vial and phial, leaned and leant
Choose a point of view.
Do you want it to be first person or third person?
If you choose first person, please don’t change the narrator throughout the story. It gets very confusing.
If you choose a third person point of view, make sure to have breaks between scenes when changing the narrator. (Even if you’re writing one scene, putting a break is imperative for readability.)
When Harry is your narrator, calling his eyes a brilliant shade of green is weird. See: My Immortal.
When Hermione is narrating a scene, there’s no way he would know Draco’s thought process.
Put breaks between scenes, regardless of a change in narration.
Making sure the reader knows that the setting has changed is very important.
When using the “he” pronoun, make sure to check the last time you’ve referenced a boy. If the “he” is referring to that boy, then you’re fine. Otherwise, consider using his name or a distinguishable feature of his to make sure the reader isn’t confused. It’s very annoying when you can’t figure out who’s talking when it’s not supposed to be a plot point or a mystery.
Same goes for “she” and other pronouns.
Keep track of objects.
If Draco hands Hermione a book, the reader starts wondering what happened to it when they start snogging passionately.
This isn’t limited to characters holding things. When Harry closes the door after entering the Auror office, Ginny can’t sneak up on him because he would hear the click of the door being opened. Similarly, if he leaves it open, Draco can’t come in, banging it open. (Unless he’s being a dramatic shit who closes the door just to bang it open. @jadepresley)
Keep your characters in check.
Make sure they’re always in character.
I’m not talking about them being different from the original books. I’m talking about them staying consistent throughout your own story.
If Ron loves Quidditch in the first chapter and hates it in the epilogue of your fic, there must be an explanation.
If Hermione is studying to become a Healer but quits to become an Auror, tell us why.
If Draco changed his stance from prejudiced and racist against Muggle-borns to supportive and sympathetic, give a reason.
Have your paragraphs vary in length. Use dialogue, but make sure there is plenty of narrative exposition as well. Similarly, don’t forget that people talk.
Bring new words to the table instead of using the same ones over and over again. I always have an open tab searching XXX synonyms while I’m writing. (One is open right now!)
Please make sure to read your own work at least once. I promise it will be worth it to spot an embarrassing typo you made before posting it online.
There are some mistakes that are really hard to miss. Changing the font when re-reading helps catch more of them.
This is a very important step. Always let the story be for a few hours—preferably days. This way, it is more likely to not overlook mistakes. The human brain tends to skip words if it feels like it knows what it’s going to be, so if you write something and still remember what words you used, your brain will be more likely to skip them.
Get Grammarly. It’s free. It helps catch some of the obvious mistakes. Sometimes it makes some ridiculous suggestions, and it makes me laugh, but other times it points out something that clearly shouldn't be there and makes me feel thankful that I haven’t yet sent the document for my beta.
Lastly, I’d like to thank @mrbenzedrine89 for putting up with me.
For all my self-righteousness in trying to tell you guys what to do, I make all of these mistakes, and she helps me find and fix them.
❤️❤️❤️

PitchWars #PimpMyBio
Hi, I’m Amy.
This is my first ever PitchWars, and I’m hyped af.
About My Manuscript
Title: More Fierce Than Fire (title comes from here)
Genre: YA Contemporary Fantasy
Word Count: 75,000
Comps: The Young Elites by Marie Lu, The Story of Owen by E. K. Johnston
Sixteen-year-old Abigail Hunter, the best healer in Grady Hospital’s Magical Trauma Ward, has a secret. Ten years ago, Abby wished her mother dead on the worst possible day—the day dragons awoke and brought magical powers to everyone in the world. Abby's angry wish became the powerful spell that ended her mother's life.
Abby has devoted her life to healing magic to atone for the sins of her past. Though she’s still afraid of losing control, she has become increasingly aware of the threat the dragons pose and frustrated that she is helpless to do anything about it. Hoping to develop the skills required to protect others, she joins a new United Nations-sponsored program which promises to give her the chance to work directly with the dragons and their victims. Training with some of the best young mages in the world, she prepares for the war to come.
And the war is coming. When a group of unregistered mages leads the dragons in a deadly attack on American cities, Abby must decide if she’s ready to join the fight against them, or if she’ll be stuck reliving the mistakes of her past forever.
A Note About Diversity
Diversity is extremely important to me in my writing. Most of the characters in my book other than my MC are POC and/or LGBTQ. I did not feel that I had the skill or experience to write a first-person perspective for a POC/LGBTQ character, so I didn’t. However, I have been fortunate to grow up in an extremely diverse place, so I’ve included a number of POC/LGBTQ characters (loosely) based on real people. I feel that authentic, thoughtful representation is important in all forms of media and am hoping to find a mentor who feels the same.

About Me
Let’s start this the way you did back in pre-school. My name is Amy Lanchester, and I’m twenty-eight years old. My favorite color is pink (and has been since long before millennial pink became a thing #ILikedItBeforeItWasCool). More Fierce Than Fire is my first novel.
I’m “from Atlanta” in the way that most people who say they are “from Atlanta” are “from Atlanta,” in that I actually grew up about thirty minutes away and only moved to the city as an adult. I set my book here because I feel that entirely too many books are set in NYC, London, or Chicago.
I’ve been funemployed for the past year.
I started my first “real job” before I’d even finished my master’s degree, and after working there for three years, I decided I wanted to do a few things before I’m too old/settled. So I’ve traveled Europe:
ALL
OVER
EUROPE
and the western United States:
ALL
OVER
THE
WILD
WEST
and I finally achieved a life goal in writing this book. I highly recommend taking a “gap year” to anyone who is able.
I live with my boyfriend and our beautiful asshole of a cat, Bret. We found him about two years ago at a local McDonald’s hanging out near the drive-thru. We went back the next day and lured him out with bits of hamburger, and he’s been our lovable jerk of a pet ever since.
Why You Should Mentor Me
- I am really, really serious about this. I’ve devoted an insane amount of time, energy, and research on this project in the past year and fully intend to see it through all the way. I love and believe in my work.
- I am crazy meticulous. I come from a STEM background, and I use the tools I learned there in my work. I’m a firm believer in spreadsheets, outlines, automation, and using technology to the fullest. I am a grammar nut who googles everything she isn’t sure about and spends hours nerding out reading style guides and grammar blogs.
- I take criticism well. I’m a fairly self-critical person who is realistic about her flaws and shortcomings. Though I love my work, I know it is far from perfect, and I am greatly looking forward to receiving a thoughtful critique. You won’t hurt my feelings. I want my work to be the best it can be, and I know that takes knowledge and experience I don’t have.
Writing History
I had the idea for my MS in May 2016. It was inspired by this tumblr post which made its way to reddit (a site I love and hate and spend entirely too much time on):
I decided I could write that book, and so I did. I wrote a prologue that I cut and part of the first chapter on a train from Warsaw to Berlin in September. I made an outline when I got back home in October, and I wrote the rest of the book during NaNoWriMo 2016. I did finish my 50,000 words in November, but the book wasn’t done. I had a completed (terrible) first draft of about 55,000 words by the first week of December.
My first draft was mostly just dialogue and action. I discovered that I hate writing description as much as I hate reading it. So my next several drafts mostly involved adding description to scenes, and it took forever. I cut several scenes and characters entirely during this process and added a few more scenes and characters, bringing my final word count to 75,000 words. My current draft contains very little from the original NaNoWriMo draft, and believe me, that’s for the best.
Writing Style
I am definitely a planner. I would have gotten nowhere without my outline or character spreadsheet. However, most of my character’s personalities came out through writing their dialogue. I used dialogue (that I went back and cut because it was boring and redundant) to solve plot problems and work out motivations in scenes. If I ever got stuck, I just started writing a conversation between my characters, and it solved basically all of my problems.
How I Write
I started writing in Scrivener, a program I’d gotten for free when I worked at the Apple Store back in 2010. It helped me a lot with organizing scenes and research. I transitioned to Google Docs after a save file got corrupted and I spent an evening panicking that I’d lost everything (I hadn’t, thank God). Google Docs sucks for long documents, but it saves to the cloud every few seconds, so I suffered through it.
I write at night almost exclusively. My best creative work comes after midnight, and usually once I’m already in bed.
I dread having to get back on a normal schedule because the night owl life is best for my writing.
Favorite Writing Resources
- Excel/Google Sheets
- Grammar Girl
- Chicago Manual of Style (I’m too poor to actually own this, but I use their FAQs and this hyphenation table all the time.)
- Hemingway Editor
- Grammarly
- ProWritingAid
Upcoming Projects Preview
I have so many ideas. I think of new project ideas every day, and I constantly struggle not to get distracted by my newest, shiniest concept. Here are a couple of things I’ve started planning:
- Shakespeare’s plays retold in a combined setting like into the Woods or Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles. A central, overarching series plot with individual volumes devoted to some of the plots of the original plays. I’ll be combining side characters from one show with main characters from another.
- A space opera/sci-fi series centered on a girl who rescues an alien from a hostile species at war with Earth’s space empires. The aliens have superior technology and are annihilating the space colonies, but we can’t communicate with them. My MC and her android nanny devise a method for rudimentary communication and are captured by government forces who have ulterior motives.
Stuff I Like
Books
- Harry Potter, obviously. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. I spent years convincing myself I was a Gryffindor like Hermione, my hero, but I’m really a Ravenclaw.
- The Young Elites by Marie Lu
- Exit, Pursued by a Bear by E. K. Johnston
- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin
- Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
- Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
- 1984 by George Orwell
- Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
TV Shows
I freaking love TV.
I’m convinced that if Ray Bradbury had lived in the Golden Age of Television that we’re living through, he would never have written Fahrenheit 451.
A short list of shows I love: Futurama, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Parks and Recreation, BoJack Horseman, Game of Thrones, The Handmaid’s Tale, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Jessica Jones, Broadchurch, Steven Universe, Stranger Things, You’re the Worst, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Musicals
I love Broadway so much.
I’ve been in (school productions of) Once on This Island, Les Miserables, Into the Woods, and Dreamgirls. Other shows I love include Hamilton, The Book of Mormon, The Last Five Years, Aida, Phantom of the Opera, Evita, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and West Side Story.
Cosplay
I picked up cosplay a few years back. I didn’t own a sewing machine, didn’t know how to sew, and had limited crafting experience. I taught myself using books, online tutorials, and YouTube videos. Some of my projects:
Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones
Chell from Portal
Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter
Elsa from Frozen
Joy from Inside Out
Eleven from Stranger Things
That was entirely too long, and I’m sorry.
If you read this far, you’re probably my soulmate. Please send me a message on Twitter and let me know. :)

Indiana blogger turns element-time interest into full-time recognition
Whilst Erin Schrader first released her weblog in 2011, she best intended to share it with some close pals and circle of relatives individuals.
Indiana Blogger
Indiana Facts
Six years later, that blog has more than 150,000 enthusiasts on Facebook and strangers have even diagnosed Schrader in hotel lobbies When she travels to meetings.
Schrader, who lives in east Elkhart together with her husband of greater than 10 years, by no means would have imagined that what commenced as a part-time interest would become a full-time career. But final month — nearly precisely six years after her first weblog put up — she took a star of faith and stop her workplace job.
Now Schrader is pouring all of her energy — or what’s left after spending time together with her husband and her friends — into her weblog, Living in Yellow. The call was stimulated via of Schrader’s favorite things: sunshine and macaroni and cheese.
At first, Dwelling in Yellow was an extension of the gratitude journal that Schrader wrote in each day. It becomes a way to be more mindful approximately the simple joys and to remind herself of the couple of blessings in her life.
“It became initially going to be my non-public area to transition my gratitude journal to the internet, But then it wasn’t this mystery anymore,” Schrader stated. “I began to comprehend that there’s a network here, that I’m able to connect to human beings online and talk with them.”
Now Dwelling in Yellow has changed into an online network of ladies throughout the united states of America who flip to Schrader for style, journey, and domestic decorating guidelines. Most posts at the Living in Yellow Fb web page encompass Schrader sharing snapshots of herself in her favorite garb reveals from shops like Nordstrom, LOFT, Specific and Target. Within the caption, she gives affiliate links to the products — that means that if someone clicks thru to the website online and purchases the item, Schrader gets a kickback incentive.
“It is able to appear to be a petty, now not essential job,” she stated. “You’re shopping for clothes, taking a replicate image and posting that. There’s not a variety of substance to that, which turned into my fear. Is this just a self-indulgent type of thing?”
But Whilst a number of her readers started out achieving out approximately how her platform has changed their self-photograph, Schrader knew it wasn’t so petty. She has additionally heard from many moms that Residing in Yellow makes their busy lives a touch bit less complicated — and more amusing.
You won’t discover $four,000 handbags or those strange, bizarrely seems from the runway on Dwelling in Yellow. As a substitute, Schrader specializes in finding cute, primary pieces that any lady can incorporate into her regular dresser.
“I assume human beings’ cash is essential,” she said. “I want them in order to have the funds for the gadgets I positioned accessibly. I spend a variety of time seeking out income and right first-class gadgets that I suppose humans will like at a low-cost price.”
Blogger Sites
Despite the fact that the associate marketing is one of the major methods that Schrader can assist herself as a blogger, her website calls for an entrepreneurial spirit to preserve. She sells commercials alongside the sidebar of her Living in the Yellow website and seeks sponsors for her posts. Schrader also attends running a blog and social media meetings to discover inspiration to market herself to a bigger target audience.
Not simplest has Schrader grew to become her blog into a career for herself, But it has also given a full-time task for the female she hired as her innovative director last month, Becca Grabner.
“It’s a possibility to return together with every other lady, a study from her innovative thoughts, have any person to continuously collaborate with and empower each other to make this area greater than it has ever been earlier than,” Schrader said.
Having someone around to help Schrader manage the website and social media systems will assist her to discover time to get returned to the roots of her blog: the lifestyle writing. Despite the fact that she works her character into Maximum of her posts presently — she’ll tell her followers what she’s up to that day, or replace them on the massive news in her life — Schrader stated she desires to make time to write down greater.
Schrader has big desires for her weblog and for herself. She stated she would like to get into personal shopping, or to grow Dwelling in Yellow into greater of a lifestyle aid. But for now, she is simply looking to come to terms with the superb boom of Living in Yellow.
The internet can be an average vicinity — especially While people can cover at the back of anonymity. But Schrader has been crushed with the aid of the kindness of her followers.
“Commonly the larger you get, it brings more negativity. However I haven’t had that,” she stated. “I’ve been so lucky for the opportunities and relationships that running a blog has introduced me. It’s about connecting with humans and sharing your lifestyles.”
BBC and Bloggers discover Successor to Potter Crown
It became billed as the publishing sensation of 2007 and like the fireworks of the 4th July or the best spell of a scar confronted wizard it took the headlines. The whole international gasped at the final pages of Deathly Hallows and no person could say they have been disappointed. JK Rowling had virtually finished it once more. people had attempted to wager the plot However, no longer an unmarried blogger seemed to get it all right. A few were very close to However others overlooked the mark. one of the best writers of myth fiction had finished the Houdini.
Within hours of the e-book of Deathly Hallows, BBC information Inside the Uk introduced on-line that they’d determined the successor to Harry, Ron, Hermione and Voldemort. Now as we close the pages of the very last chapter in the Potter saga, one e-book that isn’t always even published yet seems to be quietly pushing itself forward as a contender for the identity of ‘Hotter than Potter.’
Because the ebook of Shadowmancer in 2004 Inside the USA and its rise to the pinnacle of the NY Times list, GP Taylor has slipped from the radar of the yank e-book scene. Penguin Putnam posted two in addition books, Wormwood got to the dizzy heights of #2 on the charts But Taylor’s third ebook Tersias the Oracle slipped into stores with none promoting in any way. It turned into as if Putnam simply positioned it available as cost effectively as feasible with no explanation why.
Loss of life Threats
Many of his fanatics failed to even recognize the ebook turned into posted. Following a Death threat, Taylor refused to excursion In the United states of America and there have been rumors Inside the British press that he changed into unhappy with the manner his books had been released Inside the US. All in all, it served to preserve Taylor below the radar. Starved of exposure, readers have been difficult pressed to discover the sequels to Shadowmancer and with little movement from Established Images at the screenplay of the ebook Taylor vanished completely. He’s on record in announcing that the notion he could be shot dead in Books of Marvel in Big apple at a signing.
It was most effective While proof copies of his ultra-modern novel Mariah Mundi and The Midas Box started to flow into on eBay that human beings once more commenced taking notice of this quiet British author. Potter enthusiasts hungry for some other ebook to fill the void of Deathly Hallows started out too fast weblog about the identity before that they had even Read it. the news became sketchy. Taylor’s own website had the e-book listed as Mariah Mundi and the Ghost of the Prince Regent, however, the title was modified at the ultimate minute before the evidence copies have been posted.
NYT Page
Now it’d appear that everybody wants to get preserve of a proof of the ebook. One The big apple dealer has had infinite enquiries already and shops In the Uk are taking superior orders so clients can relaxed first editions. Buddyhollywood.Com stated, “the recipe is there, attempted and tested. Younger hero, lady sidekick, evil villain, perilous plot and sting In the tail finishing. Nothing uncommon. If you Read Tolkien, Lewis, and Rowling the equal devices are in use. But like Harry Potter, there may be something unforgettable about the boy, Mariah Mundi.
Mundi has lost his mother and father and it is not known if they may be dead. He attended a boarding school in London, from where he turned into despatched on the age of fifteen to work in a huge and mysterious resort In the north of Britain. All fish out of water stuff with masses of spooky goings directly to hold you turning the pages.
Mariah Mundi combines the massive story of CS Lewis and the plot of an Indiana Jones movie…
With masses of ‘whodunit’ thrown in (there’s a killer at large and an abnormal Box that has the electricity to show ordinary items to gold and a mystery society known as The Bureau of Antiquities) this ebook combines the large tale of CS Lewis and the plot of an Indiana Jones movie. In all likelihood why Hollywood is already queuing to get their arms at the rights for the ebook.”
BBC news stated on the day of the discharge of Deathly Hallows that, “While Harry Potter hangs up his wizard’s cloak, booksellers can be trying to GP Taylor’s autumn release, Mariah Mundi – The Midas Container, to hold the cash tills ringing.”
