The Importance of a Logo in Business Success
A logo is more than just a simple design; it is the face of a brand and a crucial element in business success. A well-designed logo represents a company's identity, values, and professionalism. It is often the first thing customers notice, making a lasting impression. Here’s why a logo is essential for any business:
Tumblr media
1. Creates a Strong First Impression
First impressions matter, and a logo is usually the first thing potential customers see. A professional, well-thought-out logo instantly communicates credibility and trustworthiness, encouraging people to engage with the brand.
2. Enhances Brand Recognition
A unique and memorable logo helps customers identify and remember a brand. Think of global companies like Nike, Apple, or McDonald's—their logos are instantly recognizable. A strong logo differentiates a business from competitors and ensures it stays in consumers' minds.
3. Builds Brand Identity and Consistency
A logo serves as the foundation of a brand’s identity. It sets the tone for the company’s colors, fonts, and overall design aesthetic. When used consistently across marketing materials, websites, and packaging, a logo strengthens brand recognition and trust.
4. Establishes Professionalism and Trust
A well-crafted logo reflects a business’s professionalism and attention to detail. Customers are more likely to trust and engage with a company that presents itself professionally. A poor or generic logo, on the other hand, can make a business appear untrustworthy or unmemorable.
5. Differentiates from Competitors
A unique logo helps a brand stand out in a crowded market. It allows businesses to showcase their uniqueness and values in a visual format. A distinctive logo ensures that potential customers recognize and choose your brand over others.
Tumblr media
6. Encourages Brand Loyalty
As a business grows, its logo becomes a symbol of trust and quality. Loyal customers associate the logo with positive experiences and are more likely to remain engaged with the brand. A strong logo fosters long-term relationships with consumers.
7. Supports Marketing and Advertising Efforts
A logo plays a vital role in advertising and marketing strategies. It appears on websites, social media, business cards, merchandise, and advertisements. A visually appealing logo enhances marketing efforts, making campaigns more effective and engaging.
Conclusion
In today’s competitive market, a logo is not just a design—it’s an essential tool for business success. It creates a lasting impression, builds brand recognition, and fosters customer trust. Investing in a professional logo is one of the smartest moves a business can make to establish a strong and credible presence in its industry.

The Power of Positive Thinking
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For decades, the concept of positive thinking has captivated readers and researchers alike. Popularized by Norman Vincent Peale's 1952 bestseller, "The Power of Positive Thinking," it has become a cornerstone of self-help philosophy. But what exactly is positive thinking, and how can it truly impact our lives?
Beyond Mere Optimism: Unveiling the Layers of Positive Thinking
Positive thinking isn't just about wearing a smile and chanting affirmations. It's a multifaceted approach that encompasses:
Realistic Optimism: It's acknowledging challenges while believing in your ability to overcome them. It's the "can-do" attitude that fuels resilience.
Positive Focus: Our brains are wired to prioritize negative information. Positive thinking involves consciously shifting focus towards the good in ourselves, the world, and our future.
Positive Self-Talk: The constant internal dialogue we have with ourselves shapes our perception. Positive thinking encourages replacing negative self-criticism with encouraging and empowering thoughts.
Visualization: Positive visualization involves picturing yourself achieving your goals, experiencing success, and feeling the emotions associated with those outcomes. This mental rehearsal strengthens your belief in your ability.
Gratitude: Appreciating the good things in life, both big and small, fosters a sense of contentment and motivates us to strive for more.
The Science Behind the Smile: How Positive Thinking Benefits You
The concept of positive thinking isn't just feel-good philosophy. Research suggests a positive mindset can have tangible benefits:
Improved Physical Health: Studies have shown positive thinking can strengthen the immune system, reduce the risk of heart disease, and even aid in pain management.
Enhanced Mental Wellbeing: Positive thinking can decrease anxiety, depression, and stress levels, leading to a more fulfilling life.
Increased Resilience: Optimists tend to bounce back from setbacks faster and with a greater sense of determination.
Boosted Performance: A positive mindset can improve focus, concentration, and motivation, leading to better performance in academics, careers, and personal endeavors.
Stronger Relationships: Positive people often attract positive connections. Their optimism inspires and uplifts those around them, leading to healthier and more supportive relationships.
Cultivating the Positivity Habit: Practical Strategies for Daily Life
While positive thinking is a skill, anyone can develop it with dedication and practice. Here are some strategies you can incorporate into your daily routine:
Start Your Day with Gratitude: As soon as you wake up, take a few moments to reflect on three things you're grateful for. This sets the tone for a positive day.
Challenge Negative Thoughts: When negativity creeps in, challenge those thoughts. Ask yourself if they're realistic and helpful. Replace them with more empowering and positive affirmations.
Practice Positive Visualization: Spend a few minutes each day visualizing yourself achieving your goals. See yourself succeeding, feeling confident, and celebrating your achievements.
Focus on the Good: Make a conscious effort to notice the positive in your daily life. Appreciate the good weather, a kind gesture, or a personal accomplishment.
Surround Yourself with Positive People: The people you spend time with significantly influence your mindset. Choose to surround yourself with optimistic and supportive individuals.
Practice Self-Compassion: Everyone makes mistakes. When you stumble, replace self-criticism with kindness and understanding. Learn from the experience and move forward.
Celebrate Your Wins, Big and Small: Taking the time to acknowledge your accomplishments, no matter how small, reinforces positive feelings and motivates further progress.
Express Gratitude Regularly: Thank the people who support you, express appreciation for good experiences, and write in a gratitude journal.
Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness exercises like meditation help you stay grounded in the present moment and appreciate the good things around you.
Focus on Solutions, not Problems: When faced with challenges, shift your focus from dwelling on the problem to seeking solutions. This empowers you and fosters a sense of agency.
Remember, cultivating positive thinking is an ongoing process. There will be setbacks and times when negativity tries to creep back in. However, by consistently implementing these strategies, you can strengthen your positive mindset and reap the benefits it offers.
Beyond Positivity: Embracing a Balanced Perspective
Positive thinking is a powerful tool, but it's not a magic bullet. It's important to maintain a balanced perspective:
Acknowledge Your Emotions: While positive thinking encourages focusing on the good, it doesn't mean ignoring negative emotions. Allow yourself to feel them, process them, and learn from them.
Accept Reality: Being overly optimistic can blind you to potential dangers or challenges. It's crucial to
Beyond Positivity: Embracing a Balanced Perspective (Continued)
Accept Reality (Continued): It's crucial to acknowledge reality, even when it's challenging. This allows you to develop realistic strategies and maintain a healthy perspective.
Learn from Mistakes: Setbacks and failures are inevitable. Positive thinking doesn't mean viewing them as personal defeats. Instead, view them as learning opportunities to grow and improve.
Seek Help When Needed: If you're struggling with persistent negativity or mental health issues, don't hesitate to seek professional help. A therapist can equip you with tools to manage negative thinking patterns and improve your overall well-being.
Positive Thinking and the Power of Belief: Cultivating a Growth Mindset
Our beliefs about ourselves and our capabilities significantly influence our lives. Positive thinking goes hand-in-hand with cultivating a growth mindset:
Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset: A fixed mindset views intelligence, talent, and abilities as fixed traits. A growth mindset believes these qualities can be developed and improved through effort and learning.
Embrace Challenges: Those with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities for growth. They are more likely to persevere in the face of difficulty and learn from their mistakes.
Embrace Experimentation: Growth-minded individuals are open to trying new things and learning from their experiences. This fosters creativity and innovation.
Develop the Power of "Yet": When faced with limitations, a growth mindset adds the powerful word "yet." "I can't do this yet" acknowledges the current situation but leaves room for improvement through effort and learning.
The Power of Positivity in Action: Inspiring Examples
Stories of individuals harnessing the power of positive thinking can be incredibly motivating:
Helen Keller: Despite being deaf and blind, Helen Keller’s unwavering optimism and belief in herself allowed her to achieve remarkable academic success and become a renowned advocate for the disabled.
Nick Vujicic: Born without limbs, Nick Vujicic overcame his limitations and became a motivational speaker, inspiring millions worldwide with his message of hope and resilience.
Malala Yousafzai: Facing threats and violence for her fight for girls' education, Malala's unwavering belief in the power of education and her positive outlook propelled her to become a global advocate for change.
These are just a few examples of how positive thinking can empower individuals to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and achieve great things.
Conclusion: Embracing the Journey of Positive Thinking
Positive thinking is a lifelong journey with immense potential. By consistently practicing the strategies outlined here, you can cultivate a more optimistic outlook, enhance your well-being, and create a brighter future for yourself and those around you.
Remember:
Positivity is a skill that requires continuous practice.
Embrace a balanced perspective that acknowledges challenges and celebrates victories.
Develop a growth mindset to cultivate a belief in your ability to learn and improve.
Don't be afraid to seek support when needed.
By embracing positive thinking, you can unlock your potential, live a more fulfilling life, and inspire others to do the same. The power to create a brighter future lies within you. Start cultivating your optimism today!

Am I Playing All Right Now?
Kento Nanami x You
Tumblr media
Explicit Smut 18+ (🚫Minors DNI🚫)
Kento Nanami has been your respectful, loving boyfriend for two months now. All you’ve done so far is kiss, and you want more with him. He refuses for your sake, warning of his roughness. So, you take matters into your own hands and convince him to put in ‘just the tip’.
Relevant tags: just the tip challenge, dom! Kento Nanami, clothed sex, couch sex, clit slapping, brief use of leather belt, hard and rough sex, doggy-style, hair pulling, manhandling, big dick-Nanami <3, dirty talk, degrading, unprotected sex, creampie, I don't use "y/n" for immersion
Music recommended while reading: Dollhouse (The Weekend, Lily Rose Depp, …baby one more time (The Marias), Like U (Rosenfeld)
A/N: this is filthy and I love it, my first Nanami piece <3 enjoy!! (Read on Ao3 if you prefer!)
Read below cut:
The night had gone great. You two had a fantastic dinner at a fine restaurant, and now you’re at his house, getting hot and heavy on the couch. You’re sat in his lap, straddling his waist, the hem of your dress riding up your thighs as the fabric gives to accommodate him between your legs. Your hands are running over the muscles of his chest, only the thin layer of his dress shirt between your touch and his skin. His palms are on your waist, pulling you closer, pressing you so firmly against him that you can feel the blunt heat of his hard cock beneath the confines of his slacks.
You can feel adrenaline pumping through your veins–tonight is the night. Every time you two get close to having sex, he pulls away, saying he isn’t ready, but right now it feels so different, so electric–
He hums, punctuating the kiss and pulling back, giving you room to breathe. Your stomach sinks, no, this isn’t what you want, you want–
“We should stop here for the night,” He murmurs, and you look into his eyes, a frown tugging your lips down at their corners.
“But you’re hard,” You protest, “Kento, please…we’ve waited long enough, and you clearly want this…”
His jaw tightens as he takes a breath. “I do…but we can’t.”
Now you’re just confused. “...can’t?”
He sighs heavily, giving you no explanation, but nodding. “Now, let’s m–”
“No, hold on,” You interrupt him, “Kento, tell me why? I-is it me? Do you…not want…?”
“It’s definitely not you,” He dispels quickly, “It’s me, okay?”
“What about you?” You press, searching his eyes. “Is it…are you…worried about your performance?”
That gets him to widen his eyes a fraction in surprise. “N-no, it’s not that. It’s…alright, look, it’s…it’s that I don’t want to hurt you.”
It isn’t enough of an answer for you. “And…what do you mean by that?”
“You…you know me to be this nice, gentlemanly man, don’t you?” He asks, a sort of resigned weight to his eyes. “Which, I am. But not when it comes to sex.”
The wheels turn in your head. “So…you’re…?”
“I’m rough,” He finally states, “And it’s…it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I’m afraid to hurt you or scare you away. Of course I wouldn’t do anything you don’t want, but…you just seem so sweet and–”
“Woah,” You stop him in the middle of his sentence. “Do you think you’re the only one with duality? You don’t think I can be different in bed? Do you think I’m some porcelain doll you’ll break if you’re not careful?”
He considers this for a moment before sighing. “You don’t understand.”
“So then make me understand,” You challenge him, running your hands up his chest. “Please, Kento. I can take it.”
“No,” He denies, “You don’t know what you’re asking for.”
Seeing his hesitance, you decide to switch tactics. You reach for his hands on your waist, taking his wrists and raising his palms up to the front of your dress. You guide them to rest over your breasts, allowing him to touch them through the thin cloth. You’d decided not to wear a bra for the night since the article had thin straps, and he immediately can feel that, a flash of desire flitting within his eyes.
Riding the wave of his interest, you tell him, “I want you bad, Kento.”
He inhales forcefully, allowing himself to knead the soft flesh beneath his hands. His thumbs graze over your hardening nipples, your teeth dragging over your bottom lip instinctively. To drive your point home, you grind down on him, the only thing on beneath your dress being the panties you’d hoped he’d see when you had put them on earlier in the day.
“You’re playing dangerous,” He warns, voice thin and strained.
“Maybe I want dangerous.”
He finally lets out a groan, surging forward and capturing your lips in another kiss. It’s more forceful this time, and all you can do is give complete control to him.
He flips your positions so smoothly, you hardly feel it; you just suddenly feel your back hit the cushion of his couch, a gasp pushed from your mouth. His hands make quick work sliding up your dress, fingers hooking underneath your waistband.
Kento speaks against your mouth lowly. “Lace?”
You swallow hard, nodding. “Yeah.”
“Expensive?”
The question catches you off guard. “Uh, no, not r–”
A swift, harsh tug and the sound of fabric ripping later, he holds the scrap lace in his hand, now mangled and unusable. He just tore them clean off.
“Holy shit,” You breathe, now suddenly aware of how bare you are beneath your dress. He must become aware of that fact too, because without a moment to spare, he’s pushing the article up to your waist, exposing you to his eyes. A rosy flush spreads over the bridge of your nose as he looks at your naked lower half unabashedly, a type of hunger you have never seen before nor known he was capable of in his eyes.
He tosses your ruined panties to the floor and fiddles with his belt, undoing the buckle. Your gaze follows his movements, watching his hands expertly tug the leather strap from its loops in his pants.
Then, he surprises you by holding the edge without the buckle and running it along your inner thigh. You shiver, observing him and wondering what his next move will be. He runs it all the way up, reaching the apex of your leg and placing it right over your mound. The cool leather feels unfamiliar there.
“Can I?”
Your attention is pulled to his voice, and for a moment you aren’t sure what he means. Then it dawns on you.
Oh.
No one’s ever done that to you. But…you aren’t opposed. You’re curious.
You nod.
“Words.”
Oh, damn.
“Yes, you can.”
“Good girl.”
You don’t have time to pay attention to the rush of hormones that praise gives you, because a harsh sting of pleasure suddenly hits your senses as he brings the end of the belt down, slapping your clit with it.
“Ah!” You jump slightly, shock, arousal, and fascination flooding you all at once.
“How was that?” He asks, watching you carefully. You take stock of yourself…and are intrigued to find that you liked it. As soon as you realize that, you understand that Kento is about to show you an entire new world previously unexplored to you.
Your eyes lock with his. “It was good.”
A mixture of relief and desire swarm his gaze. “You liked that?”
“Yeah.”
Without warning, he does it again, a little harder, and you cry out this time, unused to the strangely welcome sensation.
“Still good?”
“Yes.”
“Good girl.”
Your next breath is shaky. “More.”
He wastes no time in delivering exactly what you want. Over and over again, until your pearl is red and swollen and the folds beneath are glistening with need, belt shiny with a bit of it. He stops once you reach this state, making sure you see as he licks it off the belt. Your lips part, entranced, and he drops the accessory, instead moving to undo the front of his slacks. Your heart begins racing–but then he pauses, seeming to deflate slightly.
“I’m not gonna go all the way,” He states, “I don’t have condoms.”
“What?” Your voice is more than a little indignant. “But…how?”
“I wasn’t planning to do this tonight.”
He pulls his cock from its restriction in his briefs, pushing his waistbands down to the tops of his thighs, and the sight of the thick, red shaft as your mouth watering and your core pulsing around nothing.
You think he’s changed his mind as he lines it up, but then he just glides it against your folds, coating it in your essence and using it to rub against you, the feeling intense due to the sensitivity of your previously abused clit, but not what you crave.
“Kento,” You whimper, watching him rub himself off as he plays with you using his cock. “Please…”
“We’re not risking a pregnancy,” He maintains, “It’s not wise.”
You are beyond frustrated at this point, entrance weeping for attention, and you swear the desire is so bad you can feel your entire core sore and empty, vying to be filled and stretched.
What can you say that will get him to do it, even just a little bit?
Wait. Just a little bit.
“What about just the tip?”
His eyes narrow. “What?”
“Just the tip,” it comes out needier than you had intended, but god damn it you’re horny and all out of shame twice over.
Kento takes a good look at you, at himself and the position you’re in, sucking in a controlled breath for the umpth time that night.
Then, he lines up again, cockhead pressing against your entrance. “You’re going to regret asking for it.”
Is he challenging you? Whatever. What. Ever. You’ve reached a point where if you don’t get his cock soon your heart may actually give out.
“Let me decide that.”
His jaw sets tightly before finally, finally, he cants his hips forward, pushing the tip of his shaft inside of you.
As soon as it’s in, your head falls back on the couch, hips starting to roll without your permission. Your body wants him all on its own, and you’re no longer in command of it. He groans, pulling out and then pushing it back in, only the tip again, and you whimper in half bliss and half frustration.
You want more.
You understand the true meaning of temptation now. You’ve had the first bite of the proverbial apple, and it’s shocking how eager you are to devour the rest to its core.
Everytime he pushes in, never going past the smooth head of his cock, you moan, wordlessly begging for more. There’s a worry in his brow and a tenseness to his jaw that indicates just how much self-control he’s exercising, and as you look up at him, you realize he’s still pretty much fully clothed—his tie is pristine around his neck, shirt fully buttoned up, only his dick out and vulnerable to your eyes.
It’s unfair, and you seek to change that.
Your hand loops into his tie and yanks him down by it, taking him by surprise. He has to catch himself on his hands to avoid falling on you, a grunt escaping his lips as it causes him to slide further into you.
In a lowered hiss, he asks you, “what do you think you’re doing?”
The tone is so vindictive it has any words dying on your tongue. All it takes is a moment before he’s forcefully breathing out and lifting himself off of you, cock withdrawing from between your legs.
You open your mouth to protest, and that’s when your world spins.
You were face up, but now you’re on your hands and knees on the couch, having to brace yourself as he manhandles you silently. There’s not even a moment for you to acclimate to your new position before you feel his fingers loop through your hair as you’d done to his belt, and in one motion, he grabs your hip with his free hand and slams all the way into you, pulling your hair back hard to make you arch for him.
A loud cry splits through the air and it’s only when he starts repeatedly fucking hard and fast into you with the entirety of his monstrous size that you realize the sound was from you.
“See what happens when you push me?” His voice is hoarse and gritty, more like a growl than a whisper, a dull ache inside of you where he’s currently remolding the shape of your walls.
All you can do is make incoherent noises, and you aren’t sure whether they’re from pain, pleasure, or a mixture of both. His grip on your hair isn’t letting up and it hurts, but you’ve also never felt so completely out of control of yourself and somehow it just feels freeing to you.
“Huh?” He asks, and it’s then you realize you never replies to him verbally. You muster up the strength to speak.
“Y-yeah…” it sounds breathy and whiney, completely foreign in the contours of your voice.
“You happy now? Happy you got me to fuck you like the greedy whore you are?”
The harsh word ripples through you hotly and you moan, nodding as good as you can. “Yes…”
“Yes?” He asks, breathless, and he lets go of your hair in favor of wrapping his hand around your neck from behind. “You like being screwed like a whore?”
Apparently, you do. This is new information to you as well. You nod, gasping as he grabs your hand and presses it over your abdomen, where you can feel the flesh rising and falling in tandem with his thrusts.
“Feel that?” He asks, “that’s me inside of you.”
“Oh god,” You rasp, the knowledge of him so deep inside your body going right to your head. You can feel your mound weeping all over yours and his thighs, the wet slap tell-tale of just how much you’re enjoying this. Just the realization has you fluttering around him, a sensation that isn’t lost on him.
“Fuck,” he breathes, “You really do like this, huh?”
You nod. “Yes, yes, Kento…”
He groans, leaning forward and kissing the juncture of your neck and shoulder, brushing your hair out of the way.
“Such a good girl for me…my good little slut.”
You shudder, eyes squeezing shut as he speeds his movements up, the hand that was pressing yours to your stomach moving down to the slippery mess that is your swollen clit.
The big palm of his on your neck slides the thin straps of your dress down your shoulders and dips into the neckline of it, grasping your breast as if to claim ownership of it.
“Oh my god,” You breathe again, hips twitching at all of the stimulation, face hot, entrance thoroughly fucked open and sloppy, debauched by Kento like a destructive form of artwork.
His middle finger massages circles into your sensitive pearl as he continues the grueling pace of his hips, lips pressed to the back of your neck, and all at once it becomes too much.
It crashes into you like the unforgiving wave of the raging ocean, sweeping you into the depths of pleasure.
You cum so hard on his cock he physically has to stop moving, your hold on him so tight he’s locked inside of you. That’s the moment that he follows, spilling his pent up, heavy load into you with a hiss of pleasure.
Your arms and knees feel like jelly. Your walls are sore and throbbing, completely exhausted from his ravaging. But all you feel is feather-light. Finally, finally you did it. And it was better than your wildest imagination.
Lips place a tender kiss on your shoulder, his labored breaths slowing back to regulation. You feel his cheek rest upon the skin of your upper back. Both of his hands massaging along the sides of your hips.
“I’m sorry we waited so long. I just figured it would be too intense for you.”
You shake your head, turning it to look back at him as he straightens up and carefully pulls out.
“Don’t do that again.”
The corner of his lips turns up slightly. “Oh no, I won’t make that mistake twice. In fact…there’s something else I want to do now.”
“And what’s that?”
“I want to test your limits.”

not only langblr music resources
people irl often ask me where the heck i find the music i listen to, so i figured i might as well make a handy resource masterpost!
Radio Garden: Listen to radio stations all over the world. You can save your favourite stations, explore radio playlists, and search for stations in specific countries or cities. Love this one. You can download the app (android and apple) or listen via your preferred browser.
Radiooooo: Lets you choose a country, a decade, and a 'genre' (slow, fast, or weird) to listen to. You can download the app (android and apple) or listen via your preferred browser.
Charts: Charts can be tricky if you're looking for music in a specific language since there are multiple languages present in most country specific charts. It is nevertheless worth checking them out. Top 40 Charts or Popnable are your places to go. Popnable has some additional features like playlists that you can find in the "Discover" section.
beehype: Filter music by continent or country. Main page shows featured articles to browse.
Tunefind: Heard a song in a film or tv show that you enjoy but can't find it in the credits? This is the website for you! I use it when shazam fails me or when I'm at the cinema and can't use it or w/e. The songs sometimes come with a description of the corresponding scene for easy checking. Just very handy to have on hand.
Last.fm: Copy this link template: https://www.last.fm/tag/[nationality]/artists and replace [nationality] with a nationality you want to explore, e.g. "french", "chinese" etc.
Wikipedia: Type into the search bar "music of [country]", e.g. "music of slovakia", "music of botswana" etc.
Local events: Check for concerts etc. in your area. I know this is not an option for everyone for a bunch of reasons, but if it is for you, visiting local concerts can be a gold mine. I got like ten whole new songs in spanish and one in rapanui from one event I went to (it was like a culture fest with singing, dancing, and poetry). Also listening to live music just connects you differently to the art imo.
Friends & Acquaintances: Last but not least; sometimes my nosiness beats my social anxiety and I simply ask people what they like to listen to. If I'm being extra confident, I ask if they listen to music in languages other than english. Go forth and ask people about their music, go go go!!
Spotify specific recs:
Every Noise At Once: Sounds overwhelming - and tbh it can be. For this reason I personally prefer to look at 'Genres by Country', although there are many other interesting playlists to look at, such as 'We Built This City On' or 'The Sounds of Places'. You can find more if you scroll all the way to the bottom. Unfortunately, due to the layoff of the creator of this site, some features are not available anymore. This website is entirely based on Spotify.
Discover Quickly: This one might become a game changer for me personally. How it works: Log in with your spotify account. Choose one of your playlists, saved albums, followed artists etc. All relevant songs will show up as tiny thumbnails. You will hear a sample when hovering over them. Klicking on one of the thumbnails will lead you to the artist's overall releases as well as related artists. You can add your finds directly to a playlist!
LindsayDoesLanguages: Individual language playlists + more
Shameless self promo - my own account with individual language playlists. Also on YouTube !
700+ Languages: A playlist by Matthew Bofenkamp that contains one (1) song per language, and as it says on the tin, Matthew has so far collected songs in over 700 languages. Might be a good starting point for more music in your language of interest! Accompanying g0ogle spreadsheet with youtube links here.
One Song in Every Language: A community playlist by looky_dooky that aims to collect one song in every language. Everyone with a spotify account can contribute.
Another research tip: If you're on desktop, a good way to find language specific playlists is to go to any artist's profile and scroll down to the "Discovered on" section, then click "show all". VoilĂ !

I stumbled upon this... Thing by what looks like an actual journalism outfit, or at least their infographics wing. Thoughts?
https://pudding.cool/2024/10/fanfic/
Sighhhhh. Thanks for sharing this link (and then waiting three months for a reply, lol). I happened to have seen this one near to when it came out, but I am always glad to have people share such things with me!
So I have complicated, but partly "ARGH," thoughts about this article. And I ranted about it in some detail in Slack when I first read it. I initially didn't reply to this ask because I was trying to go back through the logs to find some of my specific past complaints, but they were lost to the mists of the Slack paywall. But here is my main complaint, roughly approximating the way that I probably ranted in Slack, for your enjoyment/excess punctuation needs:
There's so much data visualization here! And ship artwork, and interactivity, and more -- so much time clearly went into this!! But it's over-extrapolating!! from one data set!! of the top ships on onLY ONE FANDOM PLATFORM!!!! About which they gave no caveats or historical context when extrapolating to "what fans ship and why"!!!!!! When a bunch of fans have written about what fans ship and why, and in some cases gathered data about how platforms differ, and some other fandom journalists have cited that work!!!!!!! Why did these folks not do more research first before diving into all that data visualization, especially if they're journalists???????? ARGH.
But also...
At the same time, this is it's so close to just being really cool! There is some nifty analysis in here, including about things like canonicity and changes over time! I want more of this kind of deep dive out there, and more analysis, and more visualization! And there are some cool links to both scholarly and journalistic writing about fandom, in addition to citing/making use of Lulu's demographically detailed AO3 ship stats. So it's an interesting meaty read, if you keep in mind the limitations.
@olderthannetfic and I co-presented at GeekGirlCon 2019 about differences among some popular fandom platforms (among other things). Here is one of the most relevant graphs for caveating the Pudding article about shipping and "what fandom ships":
Tumblr media
Franzi has also gathered a bunch of other data on differences between AO3 and FFN, and her earlier work on platform differences inspired some of my cross-platform comparisons about shipping, genres, languages. (@olderthannetfic please chime in with other relevant links if you want to, especially if you have more recent data!)
One of the things the Pudding shared that I found interesting was their comparison between the most common tags in M/M, F/M, and F/F:
Tumblr media
[x] Nice to see more than just the top 10 tags, and interesting to see them categorized. I have gathered some related data about common AO3 tags in each of these categories, but I have to finish writing that up and sharing it. (That's one of my WIP resolutions for this year.) But I did share some data about the differences in the relative amount of use of smutty and kinky tags on AO3 between the three shipping categories:
Tumblr media
(A commenter recently reminded me of one of my conclusions: "Everyone has butts, but only pairs of dudes seem very likely to touch or lick or fuck them." XD )
Tumblr media
I find it interesting that F/M fic is most likely to tag Rough Sex and D/s! But of course, tagging behavior is not the same as what's being written about. And this is just AO3 data, and sometimes relatively low numbers of it, so definitely not representative of fandom at large. :)
(...this all this reminds me how much I want to get back to this work and look more at other differences between the shipping categories!)
ANYWAY. That was possibly a longer answer than you wanted, and several months later than you were probably expecting. XD But I appreciate you sharing the link and asking!

A Sweet Mishap - Chapter 20
Pairing - Jensen Ackles x Reader
A/N: I just want to start by thanking everyone for all the love on this story so far. Let me know if you want to be added to the tag list. This chapter is a little heavier (as is the story going forward, but I'll include potential triggers for each chapter as relevant), so please read the TW below and only read on if you feel comfortable doing so.
Potential Trigger Warnings: no warnings
A Sweet Mishap Masterlist | Main Masterlist
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
As the reality of making it on Broadway sets in I dedicate myself to self-improvement. I go for lengthy walks or jogs daily either before or after work depending on my shift. I call or text Jensen whenever we can, and decide to give a relationship with him a real shot.
But, as the week goes on and he prepares to go back to Vancouver to start filming and I busy myself with night rehearsals, work at the cafe, and prep work for my classes, all while attempting to maintain a healthy sleep schedule. My contact with Jensen eventually drops back to sporadic text messages and a range of missed calls on either side. The one thing keeping me from a major meltdown is knowing my best friend will be back Sunday and I’ve already got a coffee date planned for Monday morning.
When I finally lay in bed on Saturday night, getting some much needed relaxation I scroll through my social media feed. Thanks to Jensen’s surprise stunt at the wedding and then his run-in at the barbecue joint, his face is all over my feed. I scroll through the lists of speculations about a secret girlfriend or project in New York. The adrenaline and secrecy makes me smile, but at the same time I’m terrified of the truth coming out before I’m ready. I send a few of the articles to Jensen. Minutes later he’s calling. As I answer I can hear music and other voices in the background and I instantly feel guilty for disrupting his night.
“Hey Darlin’. Relax. I know about the posts. That’s one of the things my agent called about the other day. I’m handling it.”
“I’m sorry, did I disturb your night? You sound like you’re out. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have-”
“I just haven’t had a chance to bring it up, but I’m here now. It doesn’t matter where else I am. You need me, so I’m here. Take a deep breath for me.”
I throw my head back on my pillow and take a deep breath, “There’s no way you’re real…”
“It makes me disappointed in my gender that you think that. It means your standards are low.”
“You don’t exactly get high standards when you’ve dated the people I have…But I really don’t want to talk or think about them. What’s your plan?”
“To treat you like my queen. Prove to you that you deserve the world and that you’re my number one.”
“I uh…I meant about the rumours…But that sounds amazing. It’s not gonna be easy, but I’m rooting for you.”
I hear another voice call out on the other end of the line, “Hey Jensen, go easy on my top shelf whiskey! And get back in here!” I figure it’s just someone else at the party or bar or wherever he is.
“I’m comin’!” He calls out before lowing his voice again, “I promise I’m gonna handle it all, so you can just focus on becoming the star I know you are.”
“Thanks. Sounds like your friends are missing you. You should get back.”
“Only if you’re sure you’re okay? No brisket?”
“No brisket, I’m okay now. I should get some sleep anyway.”
“Alright, Darlin’. Sweet dreams.”
I hang up and snuggle into my bed.
After a long few hours in the cafe, I sit back at the counter in my apartment infront of my laptop. I fill out the digital forms to drop back to part-time study. I figure with getting fit, rehearsals, work and my new, budding relationship I just don’t have the time or mental capacity for the extra unnecessary stress and workload. And last night just confirmed in my mind that I need to focus on my mental health and wellbeing. Feeling a little disappointed but also relieved, I submit the forms and then focus on the required reading for the acting classes.
After an hour and a half my eyes are straining and my stomach is growling, I shut my laptop and walk around the island bench to find something to eat. As I make a sandwich I keep glancing over at my face-down phone As I sit down to eat I quickly flip it over and slide up for notifications. I notice a missed call from Stella. I quickly call her back, excited to hear from her after what feels like the longest week ever.
“Hey, Bestie! How’s married life?”
“Amazing! I’ve had the best week ever! I can’t wait to tell you everything tomorrow!”
“Abridged, please. I need a PG version, M at your worst. You can leave out the X-rated stuff, which I know there would have been plenty of.”
“That takes out 90 per cent of my week! Nah, you know what Nick’s like, we did plenty of PG-rated activities.”
“Speaking of Nick, shouldn’t you guys be enjoying your last afternoon and night before the official end of your honeymoon?”
“You would think…But Mr. Reality-check got back to reality the second we touched down. He’s busy checking mail and paying bills and then onto meal prep. I guess it’s good one of us wants to do that…”
“I’m sorry…”
“I know who I married. It’s sweet really, cause I know he’s only doing it to make the transition easier for both of us, and he knows I’ve been dying to hear your goss!”
“We agreed to talk about everything tomorrow…” I say trying to deflect as I start to pace.
“Yeah, but I’m only gonna get an hour for lunch and that includes travel time to and from the cafe. And I need more than the 45-ish minutes that we’re gonna have left. So, tell me about you and Mr Tall and Sexy.”
“There’s honestly not much to tell…We are a maybe something…a far-fetched possibility…”
“There’s a story there…You need me to come over?”
“No! No…You need to be at home with your husband. In other news! Grease? The audition YOU signed me up for…”
“No way! You got it? Who? Sandy? Frenchy?”
“Understudy…and…Female Student number three.”
“Well, you’re gonna be the best damn Female Student number three to ever bless that stage!”
“That’s the plan, but also, chances are over the six week run I’ll get at least one matinee show as the lead.”
“When that happens, I’ll be in the front row.”
“I know you will. Thanks.”
“I’m glad you got a part. I was worried I was gonna have to get you the junior HR position…”
“Broadway is where I want to be. I’m willing to work for it. It’s my first role and it’s a great position. No one lands the lead as their first role…except for probably Jensen Ackles,” I add under my breath.
“What’d he do? You always wear the blame but it’s always the guys in your life taking advantage, so what did HE do?”
“Nothing…I’ve got so much work to do before classes start this week, and I’ve got rehearsals most nights.”
“Hey, I’m your best friend. You can talk to me.”
“I’ve just got a lot to do. I’m thrilled that you had an amazing honeymoon and I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. But go enjoy your night with your husband…”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“I know. Enjoy your night.”
“I plan to. Don’t get too in your head about whatever’s going on.”
I sigh and hang up. As I try my best to refocus on the text about tone and enunciation, my mind keeps wandering back to the night before and the endless rumors that I’m caught in the middle of.

hi artemis! a friend I made during artfight who doesn't have a tumblr account asked me to pass a question on to you!
they're wondering if you know of any good resources for researching more modern history. This is what they were interested in specifically:
"i am trying to think of somewhere i could find information about when cars started appearing in songs and i am absolutely blanking on how i could find things about this
i know the library of congress has a LOT of stuff [and a really good system for filtering the search results] but… i don't even know what i would enter into the search bar sjdhgj. cars?? songs?? the spread of motor vehicles??"
i know this isn't your specific area of expertise but i thought you might still have some thoughts, or be able to point them to someone else who could help. also, they asked me to tell you that you're very cool and they like your posts :) (i concur)
Aww, thanks! <3
Hmm unfortunately, this is not really a topic I know anything about. This is a combination topic/time period I don't study, and a method (corpus analysis) I haven't really done.
But I can talk about how I would go about it, because starting research from scratch is a specialized skill and it is Daunting.
First, I go to Wikipedia on my topic--let's try the Wikipedia page for "Lyrics." The "Academic Study" subheading has no references--pity. Ignoring most of the article text, I scroll down to the references. Scanning them, they're not that helpful, but "Further Reading" suggests Moore, Allan F. (2003). Analyzing Popular Music. That looks potentially useful! File that away.
All right, now I go to academic databases. My own university's library database and JSTOR are my first options. Let's try some keywords--technology in popular music. Hm, no, that's mostly turning back books and articles about the technology used to make and disseminate popular music, not references to technology in the lyrics. Wrong tack. Try technology popular music lyrics. Little bit better--it turns back The Bloomsbury Handbook of Rock Music Research, that sounds promising. The Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World, sounds like it could be a useful reference too. Still, this turns back a wide variety of things, none of them about cars. All right, "technology" was too broad a concept. We want to know about cars. Try cars popular music lyrics and automobiles popular music lyrics.
Aha! Here's some good stuff! "Sentiment analysis of popular-music references to automobiles, 1950s to 2010s" (Wu et al. 2022); "Experience economy in the making: Hedonism, play and coolhunting in automotive song lyrics" (Askegaard 2010); Driving Identities: At the Intersection of Popular Music and Automotive Culture (McLeod 2020); "Communicating cars: television, popular music and everyday life" (Alam 2020, a chapter within the book Race, Taste, Class and Cars). Now this is what we're talking about!
And reducing my search terms to cars in popular music, I turned up a book called Popular Music and Automobiles. Jackpot!
Tbh research is trying various keyword strings, and then sifting through a dozen irrelevant result for every relevant one. Identifying relevant-looking books and articles from titles and abstracts is also a skill. JSTOR is good but arbitrarily limited; Google Scholar is pretty good; Library of Congress has records of nearly everything but is in my experience kind of overwhelming unless you know precisely what you're looking for. University library databases are the best, if you have access to any.
However, once you've hit on something specific, the LOC is really, really good in this way: you can go to the page for the book you found--here's "Popular Music and Automobiles"--and then look at the subject tags. Automobiles--Songs and music--History and criticism is its own subject tag! You can see what other books have that subject tag!
... looks like, including Popular Music and Automobiles, it's only four. (and one of those is also McCloud's "Driving Identities," lol.) But, hey. That's two more books about the topic you didn't know about before!
These are the tactics I use when I want to research something new! Hope some of this was helpful.

What do you mean they’re playing both sides? I have the same thoughts, but I’d like to hear your take on it if you don’t mind
Oh, careful what you wish for. I love these kinds of questions and usually use them as an excuse to go on particularly long rants.
What I'm referring to specifically here is some tweets I saw screenshots of in the 911 tag earlier and that made me think: "Oh the buddie baiting is strong in this one." There are different levels to this, different players or stakeholders if you will each with their own agenda.
First we have the interviewer. If he wanted to actually focus on Eddie as an individual character you'd think he'd at least mention Eddie's child by name. I mean, nobody has spoken the names "Marisol", "Kim" or "Shannon" all season - Christopher is the part of this story line they've decided to focus on so far and basically all of Eddie's important scenes in 8a featured a conversation with or about Chris. But instead of bringing that up the interviewer makes sure to specifically mention that he asked about "what's going on between [...] Eddie & Buck" and in a follow-up tweet even promises that not once in his interview were they described as "brothers". The clickbait could not be more obvious, he's pandering to a very specific sub-group of the fandom here. This is an interview for the Buddie shippers. People who care about Eddie's development outside of the shipping question? They can cope without details. It's a Ryan Guzman interview, what more do you need to know?
This has become very normal for 911 related interviews in a way, at least as far as Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman are concerned. Them not being asked about the ship has become the exception, interviews with at least one Buddie question are the norm. Even other cast and crew members get asked about this on a regular basis, especially Tim Minear. And I sort of get it, I don't like or approve of these clickbait articles, but I get the logic behind it. These online tv articles are mostly read by fans who spend time online as fans and shippers make up a big part of that crowd. There have been many Buddie themed interviews and so far it hasn't meant anything or led anywhere.
This ambiguity also means that Ryan Guzman himself went into the interview with the intention of keeping Buddie shippers' hopes up (no judgement intended). Last year we got several interviews in which he mentioned how important it is to him to portray the "friendship" between a "straight" and a "bisexual" man, etc. In this newest interview he seems to be aiming for a different tone - or at least so the interviewer suggests in his tweets. Why would Ryan Guzman change or adjust his stance on this topic? Probably because Tim Minear or somebody else with similar amount of relevance told him to.
Actors do not just say whatever they like in these interviews. They are told by the higher-ups if there are important things they should bring up or, the other way around, if there are things they absolute cannot say. If "the powers that be" of 911 didn't want the Buddie shippers to think there's something going on then they would take a clearer stance (and they wouldn't film scenes like that leaked good-bye hug out in the open). Then again the interviewer highlights the "open" answers he got from RG, so I'm almost sure that there is nothing in that interview that would actually indicate imminent Buddie canon to anyone looking at it at least a little objectively. Keeping us guessing is keeping the buzz alive in the long run and that's what they need more than anything: For the show to be talked about.
In-universe there are also Buck's and Eddie's unfinished story lines to consider. Eddie is still a complete mess and Buck has not stopped baking or thinking about Tommy yet. Not that 911 has been writing particularly sensible plots recently, but throwing a new relationship into the mix on top of everything else doesn't make much sense to me.
Thinking further into the future, I don't even think that Buddie has zero chances and is under no circumstances ever going to happen. Personally I think that maybe no final decision has been made about it yet either way and everyone involved acts and speaks accordingly.
That's an interesting philosophical question though: Is it still baiting if the 911 gods themselves don't know what they're going to do yet?
I put a cut here because I got side tracked thinking about why I don't believe Buddie will go canon unless the show is about to end.
Eddie and Buck are the two characters on the show where the writers still have a lot of wiggle room in regards of where their journeys are going. Athena and Bobby are going to stay married and keep doing their jobs because otherwise what is the show going to do with them? Hen will stay married with kids, she'll keep her job with the 118 and maybe they'll bring back the work vs. family conflict (the show has been very uncreative in writing exciting stories for her), but what else are they going to do with her character? Chimney and Maddie are going to stay together, they're married now, they have a second kid on the way - what more is the show going to do with them?
There will be short story lines about struggles or disasters or maybe some fun B-plots, but that's it. The show is not going to kill off or break up any of these couples. Maybe Athena or Bobby or both of them will retire / take a desk job shortly before the show ends for good, but until then they won't make any major changes to their lives. Same goes for job opportunities for Hen and Chim. Hen might take over as Captain of the 118 eventually, Chim might take a job at the academy, but none of that is going to happen before the show ends for good because they can't very well split the 118 up before then. Maddie might become floor manager or something, but she needs to stay with the call centre because 911 needs a main character at the call centre to keep functioning.
Either way, a happy end for all 5 of will include them staying with the partner they've been with since forever, still doing the job they love and have had since forever (maybe pepper in a well earned promotion or retirement towards the end) and still being part of the firefam that has existed since forever. We know where their stories end because they're already there.
Buck and Eddie? There is room here, but only if they keep the Buddie question unanswered for now. The very second those two get together we'll know they're endgame - just like we new Madney would be endgame the second they met and just like we knew Bathena would stick together from the start. The moment they answer the Buddie question with "yes", they close every and each opportunity on any surprise twists with serious long term effects. With every other love interest there would be a "will they or won't they last" phase, but Buddie? If they actually went canon then the answer would be "they will". We could still watch Buddie pass the relationship milestones, but there wouldn't be anymore big surprises. 911 would have all their main characters backed into corners with no more room for actual twists to their stories and what kind of show would that be?
Right now we know nothing. Buck might end up dating a woman again. He could end up with a guy. Or a non-binary third option. He might end up moving out of the loft for a different reason. He could decide to adopt a kid without having a partner. Eddie might decide to stay single and concentrate on other things. He might go to therapy again, finally bury Shannon's ghost. The point is we don't know yet, anything could happen and that's part of what keeps the show exciting.
Aside from "keeping their options fluid", the show might also tread carefully on account of the (current) political climate in the US. The show is often described, praised even as very diverse, but is it really?
All the important female characters on the show are married and have children. Actually all the couples are married and have (step) children. Many of the the female characters' story lines revolve around being caretakers: For Carla it's literally her job, Abby is taking care of her mother, Ana is a teacher and Eddie dates her in an attempt to replace his wife, Hen & Karen always get settled with a custody battle story line, Eva only ever comes back to stir up trouble because of Denny, Shannon to this day is mostly the mother of his child in Eddie's mind.
There's exactly one disabled character who is still a child and logically not a first responder. Mental illnesses like Eddie's ptsd and Maddie's ppd are very temporary struggles that can be dropped when a plot line is over and not chronic illnesses. [This makes a little sense for Maddie's ppd, but she also mentions in 5x12 that she has often struggled with depression and suicidal ideation since Daniel died. Yet we never see her have a depressive episode outside tof the season 5 arc.] Buck's chronic pain issues post-ladder truck explosion are purely fanon and Bobby's chronic back pain is only mentioned in a single flashback.
The only religious characters are (Catholic) Christians.
Recently the show has focused a lot on the characters in their nuclear families instead of strengthening the friendships, I'm far from the first or only person to have noticed that.
They gave Captain Arsehole Gerrard a make-over in between seasons which turned him from a slur-spouting bigot into a grumpy grandpa who got his own happy ending working on a tv show with an actor he admires while Ortiz, a woman of colour in a political leadership position, was revealed to be the devil incarnate who got all the blame and all the punishment. Not sure I would've done it that way.
Then there is of course the never-ending copaganda.
Specifically on the topic of queer 911 characters: Until very recently the show had only one type of queer character: "Cut and dried cases" of homosexual characters who appeared rather gender-conforming, led amatonormative life styles (married with kids) and as black characters were already part of 911's "woke agenda" anyway, if I may put it that drastically. Oh, and Josh was there, but as Maddie's personal gay bbf / sidekick with barely any story lines for himself he isn't exactly ground breaking representation in my humble opinion. Of course it's still great to have these characters, especially a couple of black lesbians, but up until season 7 911 represented only gender- and amatonormal gays and lesbians. No trans characters, no aro or ace characters, no m-spec characters, no polyam characters, no ambiguously/unlabeled queer characters. I wanted to point that out.
Now we also have Buck which I count as a big win. They took thee cis-het white man of the show and made him queer 7 seasons into the show. There was some backlash about this last year though and I really am doubtful that 911 would turn both their young single macho men queer while they're already wrestling with slowly declining viewing figures and getting their frankly ridiculous budget approved which they need to keep this show running. That all on top of the recent and ongoing political events. DEI who?
Again, I'm not saying there is no way, but even if they do want to get there (Buddie canon) eventually - if the show wants to keep running for a couple more seasons they will probably wait before making any irreversible decisions on Eddie's sexuality. Until then they will allow more Buddie centric interviews and give vague non-answers, appeasing both people who don't want the ship to go canon and those who want nothing more.

Hey I dunno if you’ve gotten this before but. Do you have anything on autism and DID/OSDD? Specifically resources or accounts and such (since I’ve seen the positivity post)
I struggle with emotional dysregulation, big memory issues (huge chunks of childhood and adolescence missing, forgetting things constantly, dissociating emotions from memories, etc,) frequent daydreaming/spacing out/dissociation, that type of thing (and a bit more that’s a little too complicated to explain in an ask lol)
I’ve always kind of figured it was just part of me being autistic (I’m professionally diagnosed and definitely very autistic regardless lol), but I’ve recently gone down a bit of a rabbit hole relating to plurality and now I’m wondering if it could be a symptom of DID/OSDD instead/as well (I was originally looking at something else and stumbled into the tags somehow. The original thing that led me here was foxes. I think. And then I had a bit of a panic as I realized how some of the symptoms were VERY close to some of my experiences. Especially the memories.) but i also can’t tell if it’s just some sort of brain fog(???? Is that the correct term?) / alexithymia / Unknown Autism Trait 3 that nobody ever talks about and is difficult to find any sort of explanation or resources for. And my brain protested and had the equivalent of being on the verge of a sobbing meltdown or mental overload of some sort when I tried to think about stuff relevant to the topic so I don’t think it’s going to be of much help to me right now.
obviously not asking for diagnosis or to self diagnose at all (since. I understand you cant really do either of those /lh /nm) but I’m curious if any of you know of any resources relating to this specific type of stuff? I feel like I’d go insane trying to find any info on it. (And also I don’t think my brain would want to cooperate if I asked it to because it basically shuts down, gives me a headache, and turns to a pathetic wet sobbing cat whenever I try to think about the possibility so I doubt I’ll be identifying as anything anytime soon but. I want some stuff to think over at least.)
hey, we also are autistic and have dissociative identity disorder. unfortunately, there isn’t really too much research on the overlap between autism and complex dissociative disorder diagnoses at this time, that we know of, but we do think that autistic people may have a higher likelihood of dissociating and developing a cdd than neurotypical people.
we really love mike lloyd’s work at the ctad clinic, and he has an insightful video on the intersection of autism and dissociation here:
youtube
here is an open access paper by katherine e. reuben and ayden parish on dissociation as a symptom in autism - it’s an interesting read and wasn’t too difficult for us to parse:
also, here are a couple life experience pieces by folks with both did and autism:
our own autism has contributed to our trauma history in how we were treated, formed attachment, and understood the world as a child. for our own system, our autism and our did are inextricably linked. we are certain that many other autistic systems feel the same.
if exploring this possibility for yourself is causing you great distress, it may be for the best to put this off to the side for now until you have reached a point with more stability or a greater support system in your life. please don’t overwhelm or cause yourself harm by looking into this possibility on your own, if it is unhealthy for you.
if you are in therapy or have a mental health professional in your life who you trust, this would be an excellent thing to bring up to them. though hopefully these resources can help you get started learning about this topic if you have the spoons/ability to do so.
we are no medical expert or research professional, but we are happy to talk more about our personal experience of being both autistic and a did system if anyone would be interested. best of luck to you, anon, with figuring this out. we know how confusing and challenging it can be!

And didn't the rumour come out after he was reminiscing Leighton?
Since you asked, I wanted to share my observations and opinions about the timeline between September 19th and October 11th. It’s honestly a wild ride! Feel free to post it or not, depending on what you think is best. Sorry if I missed anything—I’m just trying to connect the dots here (You probably know more about PR tbh) :
Sept 19th – Sebastian drops some nostalgia bombs in his Variety article about Leighton Meester, which probably sent CAA into panic mode. Cue the scramble to boost AW’s visibility and deflect attention away from his past. They start throwing crumbs in the following weeks.
Sept 20th – In a Today Show interview, Seb mentions a bracelet from his mom, and you’d think he just declared war on the 'Stall' shippers! Their meltdown over his jewelry being tied to AW is peak absurdity. Like, chill—it’s a bracelet from the woman who gave birth to him—his MOTHER!
Sept 24th – Cleide Klock from CAA casually mentions Seb’s “girlfriend” who grew up in Portugal (ahem, AW) in an interview that went nowhere. Classic CAA move to keep AW relevant while trying to maintain their narrative.
Sept 19th - Oct 4th – DeuxMoi gets questions about Seb and AW’s relationship status, and what does DeuxMoi do? She posts screenshots of AW liking stuff and the stories she had about Seb's movie on IG. It’s like DeuxMoi is trying to portray AW as the supportive GF while also playing a game of whack-a-mole to keep her in the spotlight.
Oct 4th – At the Chiltern Firehouse party, Seb looks straight-up stressed while he pushes AW inside and helps Ruby with the straights instead. That tense jaw and body language say it all—definitely not the romantic vibe CAA is trying to sell. And that awkward selfie from Ruby and AW? Yikes! He legit looks constipated.
Oct 11th – DeuxMoi drops the bomb about Seb and Leighton, calling him a “couch fucker.” Like, can you say character assassination? This feels like a preemptive strike for AW to play the “wronged girlfriend” card if Seb doesn’t renew her contract.
Oct 13th – A video surfaces of Seb looking totally distressed while bolting from a hotel, with AW lagging behind like a lost puppy. The dude didn’t even glance back. Talk about a disconnect! Evelyn was there too, but honestly, who cares?
Oct 17th – AW tagged along with the cast at the Apprentice Gala Premiere in Copenhagen (as if she was part of the movie) —a classic desperate attention-seeking move. And Seb's smirk? Yeah, that’s not the look of a guy smitten. I mean, his eyes were doing something, and that smirk? It sounded more like a sarcastic “I’m amused by your antics, but not feeling the love,” totally contradicting the ‘bedroom eyes’ narrative the 'Stall' shippers are pushing.
My two cents:
All this evidence points to CAA trying to keep AW in the picture. Meanwhile, Seb keeps shading her in interviews—like when he mentions how people are addicted to filler, Botox, and social media, implying that those who spend their whole day scrolling lack substance and seek validation elsewhere. I think either she or her team realized he wasn’t going to renew the contract, so they paid DeuxMoi to post the podcast claiming Sebastian cheated on Leighton. Suddenly, we start seeing stories about him allegedly cheating on Jennifer and Diana, too.
It feels like a desperate attempt to either back him into a corner to renew the contract or set the stage for AW to portray herself as the saintly girlfriend who always supported him, only to be cheated on like he always does. Cue the “poor AW” narrative! Seriously, dragging up something that may or may not have happened years ago? Really?
Damn, that was loooong, and I probably forgot some stuff! I didn’t even get into her baiting and lurking on Insta stories because I’d be writing an entire novel instead of an ask (sorry, lol). So yeah, that’s basically my take on things, but who knows… maybe I’m just overthinking this soap opera! 🤷‍♀️

At the end of on the list is a link to a post breaking down and conducting an in depth analysis on the footage.
Rowing Accidents
This is a list of rowing accidents compiled on the RowSafeUSA website. It lists details of rowing accidents in chronological order, and though it might not list every accident in history it is one of the most comprehensive lists I’ve seen.

@piratedllama I can but you’re not going to like it!
Void’s guide to getting a job in conservation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My story
My educational credentials: BAs in philosophy and creative writing from a big cheap state school, and a PhD in English literature with a specialization in environmental humanities from a small private R1. Couple years as an adjunct professor.
I trained my entire life to be a literature professor. It’s all I ever wanted. By the time I was finishing my doctorate, I had a very limiting belief that I was either over- or underqualified for any job outside academia. I was wrong.
By the time I made the decision to leave academia, I had published 2.5 peer reviewed academic articles and several magazine pieces. I also had about 5ish years of part-time communications consulting under my belt from helping run the writing center at my institution. I got a part-time social media/SEO management gig, and then used a grant to fund a comms internship at a local environmental nonprofit. Then I straight up just applied to jobs at conservation orgs on LinkedIn at a rate or 5 per week for about 6 months. I was looking for jobs in communications and education. Landed a couple interviews then got a position as a comms manager. My islander heritage ended up being relevant too bc I have a cultural insight into the regions where the org works. I’ve worked here for about a year, mostly wfh desk stuff, but I like to tag along to projects so I can take pics/do interviews/help with fieldwork/coordinate community meetings & info sessions. I still have a publishing career on the side, with 2 new articles out and a book manuscript in the works.
I do not recommend doing it this way lol.
What I would do instead
Conservation orgs have room for people with all kinds of backgrounds and expertise. If your goal is to have a job similar to mine, get lots of writing and science communication experience. Be able to show that you’ve built impactful campaigns and learn your way around SEO and communications terminology. Start with internships/social media, try and get some experience working with journalists, and have a nice portfolio of campaigns (easy way to start is an awareness campaign for a particular policy or science issue). Other creative experience is a plus (photography/graphic design/web design/UI).
Fieldwork is not that hard to get into. You can get field experience as an undergrad by working in research labs or volunteering. From there, lots of conservation orgs in your area are probably looking for volunteers or part-time workers to do field monitoring. TBH you don’t really need a degree to get into fieldwork, but the ceiling is kind of low without one. With a BS you can work your way up through an org probably to a manager level position where you could lead a field team but not direct a program. Generally, without a MS or PhD, you won’t be designing programs—just carrying them out, which can be really rewarding. You can also make lateral moves towards things like project management—coordinating supplies, transportation, methods, and problem-solving stuff.
Other ways to get into the field: orgs often contract out conservation tech companies to carry out specialized operations, like aerial monitoring and bait distribution. Getting a license for like a heavy-lift drone, an ROV, or boat stuff can also get you in the thick of it.
If you want to design and direct conservation programs, unfortunately you probably need to go to grad school. I can write up a separate post about how to decide whether to pursue an advanced degree if people are interested, but my general advice is Never Enroll In A Masters Program. Either do it as a 4+1 with your undergrad or go straight for the PhD. That’s where you’ll get experience designing your own experiments and contributing to the sum of conservation knowledge.
Extremely important caveat
You do not have to do any of these things in any particular order. It’s totally cool to work in the field for a couple years before going back for the PhD. You also do not need to link your education to your job (god knows I didn’t). My side hobbies of wildlife photography and scuba diving made me a great candidate for the job I eventually got, and they didn’t have anything to do with my degree or original career path. There’s also a million other jobs that conservation orgs have that don’t involve having a science background at all—HR, finance, admin, philanthropy, consulting, & policy analysis are huge parts of this. So are other jobs that aren’t *within* conservation at all, like journalism & social organizing.
A lot of folks I meet out here in the conservation world are on their third or fourth careers. It’s very, very normal to switch it up, try many things, land somewhere, leave, and pick up somewhere else.
All this to say: the world is really, really big. Don’t feel pressured to take the shortest most linear possible path. There are a million ways to have a good life.

RECENT SEO & MARKETING NEWS FOR ECOMMERCE, JULY 2024
Tumblr media
If you are new to my Tumblr, I usually do these summaries of SEO and marketing news once a month, picking out the pieces that are most likely to be useful to small and micro-businesses.
You can get notified of these updates plus my website blog posts via email: http://bit.ly/CindyLouWho2Blog or get all of the most timely updates plus exclusive content by supporting my Patreon: patreon.com/CindyLouWho2
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
There is a relatively new way to file copyright claims against US residents, called The Copyright Claims Board (CCB). I wrote more here [post by me on Patreon]
After a few years of handwringing and false starts, Google is abandoning plans to block third-party cookies in Chrome. Both Safari and Firefox already block them.
When composing titles and text where other keywords are found, it can be useful to have a short checklist of the types of keywords you need, as this screenshot demonstrates. While that title is too long for most platforms and search engines, it covers really critical points that should get mentioned in the product description and keyword fields/tags as well:
The core keywords that describe the item
What the customer is looking to do - solve a problem? Find a gift? Feel better?
What makes the product stand out in its field - why buy this instead of something else? Differentiating your items is something that should come before you get to the listing stage, so the keywords should already be in your head.
Relevant keywords that will be used in long tail searches are always great add-ons.
What if anything about your item is trendy now? E.g., sustainability? Particular colours, styles or materials/ingredients are always important.
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Google’s June spam update has finished rolling out. And here is the full list of Google news from June.
Expect a new Google core update “in the coming weeks” (as if we needed more Google excitement).
Google’s AI overviews continue to dwindle at the top of search results, now only appearing in 7% of searches.
Despite Google trying to target AI spam, many poorly-copied articles still outrank the originals in Google search results.
Internal links are important for Google SEO. While this article covers blogging in particular, most of the tips apply to any standalone website. Google also recently did a video [YouTube] on the same topic.
Google had a really excellent second quarter, mostly due to the cloud and AI.
Not Google
OpenAI is testing SearchGPT with a small number of subscribers. Alphabet shares dropped 3% after the announcement.
SOCIAL MEDIA - All Aspects, By Site
General
New social media alert: noplace is a new app billed as MySpace for Gen Z that also has some similarities with Twitter (e.g., text-based chats, with no photos or videos at this time). iOS only at the moment; no Android app or web page.
Thinking of trying out Bluesky? Here are some tips to get the most out of it.
Facebook (includes relevant general news from Meta)
Meta’s attempt at circumventing EU privacy regulations through paid subscriptions is illegal under the Digital Markets Act, according to the European Commission. “if the company cannot reach an agreement with regulators before March 2025, the Commission has the power to levy fines of up to 10 percent of the company’s global turnover.”
If you post Reels from a business page, you may be able to let Meta use AI to do A/B testing on the captions and other portions shown. I personally would not do this unless I could see what options they were choosing, since AI is often not as good as it thinks it is.
Apple’s 30% fee on in-app ad purchases for Facebook and Instagram has kicked in worldwide as of July 1.
Facebook is testing ads in the Notifications list on the app.
Meta is encouraging advertisers to connect their Google Analytics accounts to Meta Ads, claiming “integration could improve campaign performance, citing a 22% conversion increase.”
Instagram
The head of Instagram is still emphasizing that the number of DM shares per post is a huge ranking factor.
LinkedIn
Another article on the basics of setting up LinkedIn and getting found through it.
You can now advertise your LinkedIn newsletters on the platform.
Pinterest
Pinterest is slowly testing an AI program that edits the background of product photography without changing the product.
Is Pinterest dying? An investment research firm thinks so.
Reddit
If you want to see results from Reddit in your search engine results, Google is the only place that can happen now.
More than ever, Reddit is being touted as a way to be found (especially in Google search), but you do have to understand how the site works to be successful at it.
Snapchat
Snapchat+ now has 9 million paying users, and they are getting quite a few new personalization updates, and Snaps that last 50 seconds or less.
Threads
Threads has hit 175 million active users each month, up from 130 million in February.
TikTok
TikTok has made it easier to reuse your videos outside of the site without a watermark.
TikTok users can now select a custom thumbnail image for videos, either a frame from the clip itself, or a still image from elsewhere.
Twitter
You can opt out of Twitter using your posts as data for its AI, Grok.
YouTube
YouTube has new tools for Shorts, including one that makes your longer videos into Shorts.
Community Spaces are the latest YouTube test to try to get more fan involvement, while moving users away from video comments.
(CONTENT) MARKETING (includes blogging, emails, and strategies)
Start your content marketing plans for August now, including back-to-school themes and Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday on August 13.
ONLINE ADVERTISING (EXCEPT INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL MEDIA AND ECOMMERCE SITES)
Google Ads now have several new updates, including blocking misspellings.
Google’s new Merchant Center Next will soon be available for all users, if they haven’t already been invited. Supplemental feeds are now (or soon will be) allowed there.
STATS, DATA, TRACKING
Google Search Console users can now add their shipping and return info to Google search through the Console itself. This is useful for sites that do not pay for Google Ads or use Google’s free shopping ads.
BUSINESS & CONSUMER TRENDS, STATS & REPORTS; SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY, CUSTOMER SERVICE
The second part of this Whiteboard Friday [video with transcript] discusses how consumer behaviour is changing during tight economic times. “People are still spending. They just want the most for their money. Also, the consideration phase is much more complex and longer.” The remainder of the piece discusses how to approach your target market during these times.
Prime Day was supposedly the best ever for Amazon, but they didn’t release any numbers. Adobe Analytics tracked US ecommerce sales on those days and provides some insight. “Buy-now, pay-later accounted for 7.6% of all orders, a 16.4% year-over-year increase.”
MISCELLANEOUS
You know how I always tell small business owners to have multiple revenue streams? Tech needs to have multiple providers and backups as well, as the recent CrowdStrike and Microsoft issues demonstrate.
If you used Google’s old URL shortener anywhere, those links will no longer redirect as of August 25 2024.

"In this video we cover the basic techniques of parrying described in Meyer's 1570 Sidesword/Rapier treatise. This is not intended to be a complete disassembly of each technique, rather it is a generalised overview with some consideration of important points in the movement. This is the first of at least 2 videos covering the techniques and principles of parrying in the context of Meyer's system."
You may find the other posts about Daniel Pope's work on this blog useful as well
Also here’s a masterpost of sorts of Meyer content on this blog
You may also enjoy this general one-handed sword according to Meyer video as well
(and keep in mind the dussack is used by Meyer within his 1571 book as a basis for all one-handed weapons).

The provoker-taker-hitter tactical concept and its uses are quite relevant to dussack as a weapon.
Lastly you might find the dussack tag of the blog relevant too.

I want to start adding text descriptions to stuff i reblog, do you have any advice? is there a guide or something you use, the style of your IDs is very nice.
hey! thats great that you want to start writing IDs. I've reblogged guides before and ill tag this post with the tag they're in (image descriptions) so its easy to browse!
in addition to those other resources, here's some guidelines i personally keep in mind, & what i structure different IDs like.
for text transcripts: source & type of image, author, date if possible. here are some pretend/template IDs:
ID. a twitter screenshot from user @.[username] dated [date] that reads: "[tweet]." End ID.
i put the period after the @ symbol so it doesnt try to tag a nonexistent (or unrelated) user on this site, and a screenreader will just pause there briefly.
ID. a photo of a page from the book [name] by [author]. text reads: [transcript]. End ID.
if the OP cited the author/book/source, you can just do "Transcript: [text]. End transcript."
for actual images:
type of image is really important!
photograph, edited photograph, reaction image, edited reaction image, painting, digital painting, digital drawing, etc. you should always put what kind of image it is.
keep in mind the purpose of the image!
if its an art piece or a photo of one, its good to describe the medium, style, colors, and subject.
if it's a reaction image or other meme, you don't have to describe the surroundings in loving detail. the "point" of the image is enough.
if its a photograph, it might also be an art piece, or from the news, or someone sharing their pet. the amount and kind of detail again depends on the point of the image.
don't make judgements or assumptions!
dont describe things as badly drawn or badly photographed- and on the flip side, dont describe things as cute or beautiful. describe whats in the image, not how it makes you feel. if you love a certain part of how a photograph is framed, or how the light is painted in a piece of art, say that specifically. "beautiful" means nothing! do you mean realistic? vibrantly colored? "cute" means nothing! do you mean in a cartoony style? or that the subject matter is a cat, which many people find cute? be specific!
dont make statements about the gender or race of the people in the photo or art piece, especially if it's real people (like a news photo) unless you know those things as a fact (celebrities, fictional characters, people you know personally, people where it is mentioned in the article the photo is from). you can just describe things like hair length, skin tone, etc. exceptions to this rule imo are stock photos- eg if im captioning my favorite stock photo of all time, cyber woman with corn, i am going to describe it as "a stock photo of a white woman in a futuristic silver and black wraparound visor, wearing a silver bodysuit and cradling an ear of corn near her face and smiling slightly."
here are some example descriptions, all from images i have on my phone.
Tumblr media
ID. a photo of two cats laying head to head on someones outstretched legs, which are under a blanket. one cat is an orange tabby, and the other is a gray and white splotched tabby. End ID.
the point of this image is my cats- im not going to spend time describing the blanket, the couch, the stuff you can see in the background, bc it's not relevant to the image, and adds nothing.
Tumblr media
ID. a photo taken through a rainy window at twilight, with the camera focused on the raindrops on the glass, so the lights in the houses across the street are out of focus. the lights reflect on the wet pavement in a warm yellow glow. End ID.
i took this the other night bc i thought it looked cool how blurry it was- id consider this more of an "art" photo, so im describing the aspects of the framing etc that make it that- i wasnt just trying to show how rainy it was, but to take a photo in an interesting way, so those traits are "worth" describing.
Tumblr media
ID. a photo of an acrylic painting done on a cardboard packing envelope of a city street at sunset, all the building windows reflecting gold. there are purple fluffy clouds in the sky, lit from below with peach and gold. the USPS tracking number barcode is still visible in the gap between houses at the end of the street. the brush strokes are very visible, the perspective is wonky, and the orange underpainting is visible at the edges. End ID.
this is a new ID for something i painted and already posted and i dont feel like getting the old ID. medium, style, and specific details i think are important are included. the perspective being wonky is a bit of a value judgement i wouldn't make about Other people's art, but it's my own and i think its an important detail so!
Tumblr media
ID. an edited catcrumb comic, showing a simple mspaint illustration of a cat happily sorting things into piles with the caption, "sort sort. i love to arbitrarily sort." the cat has been colored in gray and its ears have been colored like homestuck troll horns, and the sorting piles replaced with some classpect symbols. End ID.
this is a good example of a edited image- its important to give (to some degree) a sense of what the original image was, say that its edited, and describe the changes. i dont need to list the classpect symbols i put on there, bc its not relevant to the message of the image- it would do nothing but make the ID longer.
oh- and to cap off the post- here is cyber woman with corn:
Tumblr media
ID. a stock photo of a white woman in a futuristic silver and black wraparound visor, wearing a silver bodysuit and cradling an ear of corn near her face and smiling slightly. End ID.
