How interesting that in both posters (the one in the left appeared in a convention and the one on the right was used in social media) Roger Rogers is peaking out of a door while one of his hands is coming out of another. One that's close to Tylor.

Roger/Henry J. Waternoose IV Angst, Hurt/Comfort, and Fluff Headcanons:

Roger was obviously in a psychologically abusive relationship with his father

He has a very healthy relationship with his mom and she is quite the doting mother who DEFINITELY coddles him...A LOT

It's canonically proven that mentioning his real name triggers the memory of being perceived as being just as awful as his dad but likely triggers the psychological abuse his dad burdened him with

His mom and dad had a VERY rocky relationship and his mom filed a divorce towards her husband after the whole "kidnapping children" incident and took full custody of Roger

Roger would frequently have nightmares about his dad regarding the psychological abuse he'd been through

Most likely the psychological abuse still takes a toll on Roger that his dad may have blackmailed him to do his bidding regardless of the fact of Roger regretting it

Being with the MIFT team helps him cope with his trauma, especially looking up to Fritz as the father he never had

Roger and Duncan likely bond over the fact of both of them being Mamma's boys

When he's not working at Monsters Inc., Roger works a part-time job as a safari guide at the Monstropolis Zoo (which this headcanon is likely inspired by the fact his VA plays a field guide in both Jumaji movies)

Roger has a HUGE collection of personilized collectable keys

Even though he won't admit it, Duncan actually enjoys singing along to the songs that Roger sings but prefers to do it in private in his "secret office" away from his fellow MIFTers that only Smitty and Needleman know about that he prefers that they would not say a word about it

Waternoose Family Heirs: Baby Addition.

Oldest is Clara Bellamy Waternoose, age 2. Daughter of Henry Waternoose II's youngest son, Charles.

The youngest is Henry J. Waternoose IV, son of Henry's oldest son of the same name.

The cousins were raised practically as siblings and remain close as adults.

The fact that he did not directly answer the question irked Uzi slightly. But... at least he wasn't trying to bootloop her. Which was good.

'Roger Rogers', huh? that name sounded like a robot quote from a movie. Uzi noticed something (probably a hand, as her vision was still a bit blurry) being held out to her, presumably to do a handshake. With slight hesitation on not knowing just what it could be, she rubbed her visor (akin to a person rubbing their eyes) to speed up her vision un-blurring.

Clearly seeing the other's appearance made her almost take a step back, a look of shock (and possibly confusion or terror) on her face. It was no wonder the thing they were holding out to her was blue... they weren't human, let alone a drone! But... the fear-- as well as the anxious expression accompanying it-- seemed to be short lived, as he seemed apologetic for startling her. And plus, a monster-person surprisingly wasn't the weirdest thing she'd seen in her life. Although it was certainly up there.

Seeing her panicked expression in the printed picture was also admittedly a bit funny, too. Not that she'd show it or anything, though.

"Okay....?" she responded awkwardly, before reaching out a hand and awkwardly shaking the tentacle being held out, then taking the chance to introduce herself as well as she possibly could.

"I-I'm... Uzi."

Roger recoiled a little at the aggressive outburst, two slender blue tentacles pulled nervously to his chest.

Admittedly, he did have a bit of a habit of neglecting to warn others before he snapped their picture, and he'd certainly been met with reactions of surprise for it, even confusion, or both... but never a reaction quite so furious. (How interesting that was, he'd later think.)

For a moment there, he was actually sort of starting to get a little frightened... until her tone seemed to level out and (he was hoping) she'd already moved on. And, as such, he'd had no time, either, to ask about that funny phrase she'd used.

Though he was very briefly distracted by the words appearing in her eye. 'Stabilization'... well, that sounded like good news!

And so, bearing a toothy, friendly grin, Roger extended a tentacle, its three prongs spreading out sideways like some approximation of a hand opened flat, prompting for a handshake.

"Roger Rogers!" he greeted, unintentionally not exactly directly answering the question. "It's a pleasure to see such an interesting new face! Though, I do apologize if I gave you a scare just there. I just wanted a little memento of the occasion," he finished the explanation by pulling the printed photo from his camera and holding it up for the bot to see.

See I’m wondering that myself! I wanna say someone from Fear Co but that wouldn’t be fair. Roger/Henry J Waternoose the IV still seems like a sweetie but then again, the writers could go the “You were right about me all along mwahahaha” route

Okay okay....

I know I've been highly suspicious of Roger Rogers being an undercover Fear Co. spy but now realizing that he's Henry J. Waternoose's son who's actually named Henry J. Waternoose IV with traumatic daddy issues of being viewed as being just as bad as his own dad in an effort to create an alias using his mom's middle name to avoid the fact that he's actually a Waternoose, then I suppose he's not all that bad as he seems and he's just a precious bean who has been misunderstood

here's a slightly clearer picture:

- the things roger fills out when he's not sure is really funny, like... "reason for termination: none" you weren't supposed to fill that out yet sweetheart

- his education and certifications being dubious

- dates and numbers in general in monsters, inc. are... confusing! the most prominent look into stuff i'm pretty sure is mike's calender in MU, which is by all means... a regular calender. time goes by and it has the same months that we do, with the same days and everything, and the way they structure the school year is pretty much what we would be used to, and monsters, inc. itself does just take place in 2001! and yet, in a lot of background stuff for jokes, it gets really weird sometimes out of nowhere LOL. like, i've been stumped on why the dates here have 4 numbers instead of just month/day/year... because they also kind of sort of make sense without the last number? like, take roger's birthdate listed here: 02.17.63.42. that could easily mean february 17th, 1963, which... would make him exactly the same age as mike/sulley/randall at 38 -- see: waternoose treating sulley like a son in monsters, inc. -- so it feels REALLY on purpose... but then it's like, what in the god damn is "42". what does that mean. i don't even know, man

does anyone know what all the blurry fields are? i know the marital status one but i can’t make out any of the other ones :( let me know if anyone had a clearer copy or knows what they say!!

Uzi had no clue where she'd ended up this time, but she was absolutely going to find her way back... and maybe find something to eat along the way, too. Preferably something that didn't involve ripping another drone open.

This place was giving her the creeps already. It reminded her of those huge factories and/or warehouses, the ones that older drones spoke of in their human-related horror stories. She wanted to be out of here, stat. If only she could find the doorway that she came through before--

CLICK!

"AAAAAA--" the sudden camera flash resulted in a panicked scream from the worker drone, combined with suddenly stumbling backwards, all while the monster excitedly greeted and asked her a question. Seemed that had freaked her out! It did, as it reminded her too much of that horrible flash from those Sentinels; a flash that could render robots like herself boot-looped, and utterly powerless to do anything to defend themselves.

...although the screaming abruptly stopped when she realized that she was not boot-looped, and in fact, perfectly fine.

She blinked a few times-- dear heavens, her vision was still a bit blurry [ERR 0xc00D3704 - INTENSE FLASH DETECTED; BE THANKFUL IT'S NOT A SENTINEL, JEEBUS CREPES; CLEARING....] -- while flexing her fingers to make sure she was still working. Good, she was. Now that she was sure that she was still functional, she made her irritation known.

"What was that for!? Were you just trying to bootloop me, you... you..."

"...what ARE you?" she asked, her left eye now being replaced by text which read '[OPTICAL VISION STABILIZATION: 63%...]', most likely an indication that the flash had messed with her sight and her inner workings were now fixing it.

A humanoid form and what looked, from afar, to be a non-monsterly head of hair and clothing suggested this stranger would likely be a human. But as he got closer, Roger realized everything about them, in fact, seemed to be comprised entirely of metal. Which suggested they were neither human nor monster. But rather, a living robot!

How utterly fascinating! Obviously everyone knew about robots -- They were featured in a plethora of fictional media, after all. He’d always presumed them to be just that, though. Fictional.

He couldn’t help but investigate, making his way up, from behind, closer to the robot, visually inspecting them up and down.

Then, admittedly possibly letting his excitement get ahead of him, in one swift motion, Roger took his camera out from his fanny pack, quickly slipped around in front of the robot and, with a little click and bright, white flash he captured them in a photo and immediately followed up with the wave of a friendly tentacle in greeting.

“Ello! Crikey, are you really an actual robot?” The question was obviously by no means judgmental or such, but bubbling with innocuous excitement.

And, now that he could see a new side of them, Roger was once again looking the robot up and down, enthralled in what seemed, to him, like a local major technological discovery.
