altars for titans and protogenoi
This post more than any of the others is going to be mostly upg or spg. Hardly anyone in antiquity spent a lot of effort worshipping most of these deities, especially the protogenoi, so resources are limited. If you have suggestions or personal addendums, feel free to leave them in the comments. I made a lot of decisions based on what the herbs/crystals are usually associated with: for example, black tourmaline is associated with Nyx (the night) therefore Chaos (the embodiment of the primordial soup and basically the universe) has black tourmaline too.
Also, all the deities on this list can be honored with libation of wine, milk, honey, and oil; offerings of meat or desserts; and burning frankincense/myrrh.
Disclaimer: this is not all of the protogenoi or titans that exist, these are just the most recognizable ones that have the most lore attached. I used theoi.com to research all of these deities.

Kharie!
If it us not hard for you, what would you recommend to someone, who wants to build a relationship with Deity that is less known? Like rarely spoken daimons or primordials? With twelve Olympians, King Hades and who surrounds Them is pretty simple, because there is enough information on Their cults and worship, but, that happened that I feel connection not with Them, but with more, let's say, raw side, like Tartarus, Hemera, Aether, Erebus, children of Eris, and while practicing what I generally know about Hellenism does help, I do feel rather disconnected with most of the community because of that, not only dew to my choice of Gods, also dew to the fact that there is not much information, or even any.
I come with, maybe, some desperation. If you have some time and energy, can you say what is recommended to do to connect with Them and community?
Many thanks, my friend, if you will answer.
Khaire, Nonny! Apologies for the lateness; 2024 was wild for me, and I wasn't able to answer a lot of asks. ^^;;;
Regarding this, it's hard for me to say because most of the deities I worship are rather well-known. The best advice I can think to offer is reading and researching as best as you can. Take notes, and keep track of the information you've gathered. Unfortunately, a lot of your practice may have to be built up from the basic Helpol foundations and based around UPG. You may have to do a lot of things based on what feels right or what your interactions with your deities are like. I wish I had a better answer for you, but I'm not well-versed in worshipping lesser-known deities. :(
As for connecting with the community, I personally find a lot of my connections from discord servers and interacting with people on Tumblr. Servers are pretty useful, and even if people don't worship the same deities, you can often still find a lot of support there! I know @olympianbutch has a Helpol reconstructionist server; you may find some good resources there! There's also a nice server called The Acropolises that's been very welcoming and helpful as well. c:
If anyone has better advice, please share it! I'm a bit out of my element here. ☠️
I hope you're well, Nonny, and best of luck to you on your journey! Take care. 🧡

Eris Deep Dive: Goddess of Discord and Strife
Eris (Ἔρις) is the Greek personification of discord and strife—more notably she was considered to be the daimona of the strife of war. She was not considered a goddess in the same respect as the Olympians until more recently.
Tumblr media
While she was not worshiped in ancient Greece, she has become a popular deity in Discordianism, a modern religion, as well as being worshiped by solitary individuals. In modern day she is given a kinder but still discordant role, worshiped as a goddess of chaos and specifically necessary chaos; chaos invoked as the catalyst of change. She is also said to be the goddess of the chaos needed for artists to create.
Parents and Siblings
Her parentage depends on who is relaying the story. The most popular belief is that she was spawned by Nyx alone.
Nyx, no father
Nyx and Erebus (only because Erebus was Nyx’s lover)
Zeus and Hera (because she is noted as Ares’ sister)
Siblings will also depend. According to Hesiod’s Theogony, her siblings are:
Aether
Hemera
Moros
Apate
Dolos
Nemesis
The Keres
The Moirai
The Hesperides
The Erinyes
Oizys
Momus
Oneiros
Hypnos
Thanatos
Philotes
Geras
If she is the daughter of Zeus and Hera then the list of siblings would be way longer including all half siblings. She is specifically mentioned to be Ares’ sister in Homer’s Iliad. Too many to list, I will instead offer you the genealogy of Zeus and Hera.
Her full-blooded siblings would be:
Hebe
Ares
Eileithyia
Lovers or Partners
No lovers mentioned
Children
Ponos (Hardship)
Lethe (Forgetfulness)
Limos (Starvation)
Algea (Pains)
Hysminai (Battles)
Makhai (Wars)
Phonoi (Murders)
Androktasiai (Manslaughters)
Neikea (Quarrels)
Pseudea (Lies)
Logoi (Stories)
Amphillogiai (Disputes)
Dysnomia (Anarchy)
Ate (Ruin)
Horkos (Oath)
Epithets
Note that these aren’t historically attested, they do come from translated myths but that doesn’t mean she was called this throughout history.
Strife
Infernal Goddess
Mother of Cacodaemons
Notes
Often Eris is called a goddess of chaos in modern times, but in history she is recorded as the goddess of discord. While they seem like synonyms they are not, chaos is disorder and confusion; discord is argument or disagreement. While discord may lead to chaos, they are not one in the same.
This confusion may come from the conflation of Eris and the similar but still separate Roman goddess Discordia, who is the goddess of chaos and was often seen in a kinder light than the Greek Eris.
Eris is the last born of Nyx according to the Theogony.
She is noted in mythology to be particularly fond of the bloodshed of war.
Eris and the goddess of war Enyo are often conflated.
In his writing Works and Days, Hesiod says that there are two Erises; one that exists purely to plague mankind with strife, and the other is a kinder Eris who instills a healthy sense of competition in mankind.
Unfortunately Eris does not appear in mythology often, as is the case for many daimones, However her most popular roles in mythology are:
Throwing the (sometimes golden) apple into a feast with the words inscribed “to the fairest”, causing three goddesses, Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera, to argue about who the apple should go to. Eventually, not wanting to deal with it, Zeus made the human mortal Paris decide. Though her role was short, it was a huge part in starting the Trojan war in mythology. Read about The Judgement of Paris.
When Polytechnos and Aëdon said their relationship was way better than Zeus and Hera’s, Hera sent Eris down to create marital discord between them. She did just that, making them compete against each other. Polytechnos was completing a standing board for a chariot and Aëdon a tapestry at the time, so they made a bet on who would finish first. Whoever lost would present the other with a slave. It gets pretty dark and they end up getting turned into birds by Zeus, a common ‘kind’ gesture from him in mythology. Read more here.
Interestingly enough, Eris is pictured with Themis, the goddess of divine law and order on a vase depicting the Judgement of Paris. The two watch over the three goddesses.
In another painting, Eris is depicted wearing winged shoes and having wings herself. This could symbolize freedom and swiftness—sometimes sneakiness as well. This would make sense for Eris as she is considered in mythology to be a sneaky troublemaker.
There were no shrines known to be dedicated to Eris.
Discordia, Eris’ Roman counterpart, was associated with the type of discord needed for societal change and going with the grain.
Modern Deity Work
Seeing as she was not worshiped as far as we know in ancient times, these are pulled from mostly modern practitioners’ posts as well as general practices of Hellenism.

𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚘𝚗𝚎!
This is the second post for an overview of various Greek deities. The formatting is the same as my post for Lord Hermes but this post will be about Lady Aphrodite! And if things seem a bit repeatative....well I apologise. I did use my Hermes post as a base and only changed the information provided.
Lady Aphrodite is fairly new to my list of deities I'm working with. She's a lovely goddess to honor and work with. Strict when needed but knows when to show you the love that you need. Praise be Lady Aphrodite!

Aphrodite is the Olympian goddess of love, procreation, seduction, beauty, pleasure, happiness, and war.
She is typically depicted as a beautiful woman with Eros by her side, and she is usually nude in ancient depictions of her.
Pop Culture
Aphrodite is another fairly popular goddess. She can be seen in any media depicting Greek myths and featuring the Greek gods. Percy Jackson, Hades game, Epic the Musical, the list can go on.
Tumblr media
There are many different epithets for Aphrrodite. What are epithets? Well they are essentially surnames for the gods to describe their different aspects. If you wish to call upon a specific aspect of a god you would use their epithet when talking with them.
Now for the different epithets of Aphrodite. I will be including the transliteration version of the names as the Greek names use special characters that I am unsure if it’ll even show up. So we’re getting close enough.

Prayer to Aphrodite
Beloved Aphrodite, goddess who grants to us the greatest of joys, the harshest of sorrows, the sharpest of pleasures, the dearest of pains.
Aphrodite, freshest of Olympos’ flowers, your lightest touch can turn the hearts of men towards love; with voice sweet as honey, sweet as wine, you speak words of persuasion, we hear and heed, rapt in wonder.
O Aphrodite, grace and beauty surround you, where you pass, the roses bloom, with sweetest scent and sharpest thorn: with reckless hands we grasp them.
Aphrodite, born of blood in the cold salt sea, born of the fallen sky, goddess whose kindness can be so brutal, who cruelty we cherish, blessed are your children, blessed those your favor, blessed those who have felt your might, blessed those who dwell in your domain.
Aphrodite, honored one, incomparable one, with each breath I praise you.

All the basics of Greek myth
The gods/godesses their roles, ther relationship etc etc
Okay. So first of all we all know about the 12 Olympians, i.e., Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes. Hephaestus and either Hestia or Dionysus, plus Hades.
Now before these Olympians there were the Titans, which included Kronos, Rhea, Oceanus, Coeus, Japetos, Crius, Hyperion, Theia, Themis, Tethys, Phoebe, and Mnemosyne, all of whom came from the Primordials, Ouranos and Gaia.
Along with them the other primordial gods included Khaos, Tartarus, Erebus, Eros, Nyx, Aether, Hemera, Pontus and Ourea.
Now this is an extremely brief explanation of these three generations of deities. I’mma get into a little more detail into their relations by whipping out Hesiod’s Theogony/the Greek Creation Myth (cuz his version is considered the standard creation myth for this pantheon till date), which sums about everything up pretty well actually so… Kudos to our fellar.
So according to this myth, in the very beginning, there was only chaos, from which we get the personified and deified version of it called Khaos. But soon after Gaia, Eros and Tartarus pop up, and then Khaos creates two more deities, namely Erebus and Nyx, who then, together, proceed to create Hemera and Aether, while Gaia creates Ouranos to partner up with, and they both, again together, whip out
The male titans, namely Kronos, Coeus, Japetus, Crius and Hyperion.
The female titans, namely Rhea, Themis, Tethys, Phoebe and Mnemosyne.
Three cyclopses, namely Brontes, Steropes and Arges.
Three Hekatonchieres (monstrous giants of immense strength and power, each having fifty heads and a hundred arms), namely Briareos, Kottos and Gyges.
Now all of these three sets of kids have one common thing, hating on Ouranos, for some reason that gets later uncovered. The reason is mostly him kidnapping his monstrous-looking kids and hiding them in secret places under the Earth (which, here, is Gaia).
Gaia got sick of this shit and produced a sickle out of adamant and asked her kids to teach Ouranos a lesson, but among these kids, only Kronos stood up to do it and so he did. Hid inside Gaia and when Ouranos came to lay with his wife, his lil kid popped up and castrated him, his two little thingies falling into the ocean, leading it to foam, and from that foam was born our beloved Aphrodite. Sensational. From his blood arose the Erinyes (chthonic goddesses of vengeance), the Giants and the Meliai (nymphs of the ash tree).
Now Kronos had full control over the cosmos from Ouranos, and was producing kids (i.e., Hestia, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera and Hades. Zeus wasn’t born yet) with Rhea. But his dad and Gaia had prophesized that one of his own kids would overthrow him, and from there we get the famous Kronos-swallowing-his-kids myth. And ofc, Zeus gets saved from the swallowing thingy with the help of his mom and grandparents, and then raised in seclusion in a cave below Mount Aigaion in the city of Lyktos of Crete. Also Kronos doesn’t know about this cuz Rhea wrapped up a huge stone in baby’s clothes and gave it to him saying it was the last kid, aka, Zeus.
(Chiron is also one of Kronos’s kids, and hence Zeus’s half-brother, paternally cuz Kronos once turned himself into a horse to mate with the Oceanid nymph, and one of the daughters of Oceanus and Tethys, Philyra, who mated with him in the usual human-nymph form, and hence we get him as a centaur.)
After Zeus grew up fully, he forced Kronos (Gaia did something to help with this, like give him some kinda poison secretly to make him puke his kids out-) to release his siblings. He then released the Cyclopses (who were still trapped with the Hekatonchieres btw), and then gave him his signature thunderbolt. This is when the great war called the Titanomachy happened between the Titans and Zeus and his siblings, over the control of the cosmos. This war went on for years, and in the 10th year, Zeus even released the Hekatoncheires, who also helped him overthrow the titans. Zeus threw his thunderbolt at the previous generation of gods, hence defeating them and throwing them into Tartarus, thus ending the war.
There was another threat to him tho, and it was Typhon, son of Gaia and Tartarus. But Zeus defeated him too and threw him into Tartarus as well.
Then my mans got elected as the king of gods (as he should), and had his first wife Metis. But after knowing that he had the same fate as Kronos, i.e., a son of Metis would overthrow him, he swallowed his wife (while she was pregnant with Athena, and hence later on we see Zeus HIMSELF giving birth to a fully-grown Athena from his mind) and that’s how he ended the cycle of succession. Smart move but I need justice for Metis >:<
Now for the new generation of Olympians, i.e., Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Hermes, Dionysus and Hephaestus (also let’s add Persephone too), here’s how it goes. (Athena and Aphrodite were already covered above)
Apollo and Artemis were twin kids of Zeus’s 6th wife, Leto, who was the daughter of Coeus and Phoebe.
Persephone was born from the union of Zeus and Demeter. (there are other versions to this myth too)
Dionysus was born from the union of Zeus and Semele (a mortal woman), but he was again stitched to Zeus’s thigh to save him from Hera, who was deadlocked in killing him (cuz ofc Zeus cheated on her with another woman), and later births Dio himself. (there are other versions to this myth as well. For example, another myth says he was born from the union of Zeus and Persephone.)
Hermes was born from the union of Zeus and Maia (Atlas’s* daughter)
Ares, Hebe and Eileithyia were born from Zeus and Hera.
(*Atlas was one of the kids of Japetos and Clymene, who’s an Oceanid, and hence one of the daughters of Oceanus and Tethys.)
Now I haven’t mention what these deities are the gods of, because even though they are known for maybe one of two things they govern over (like Athena for wisdom and war, or Apollo for sun and music), their designations are actually pretty broad, and this post is long enough so ykw I’mma ask you to check out theoi.com and the theogony section of Wikipedia for further info :)
Thanks for the ask I had fun writing this lmao. (Might’ve made errors or stuff so correct me in case yall spot any)

Chaos: The Greek God Who Wasn’t a God
In the pantheon of Greek mythology, we often hear about the Olympians—Zeus, Athena, Apollo, and their divine drama—but before their reign, before even the Titans, there was Chaos. And Chaos isn’t your typical god; in fact, they’re not really a god at all. They’re something far more profound: the primordial void, the beginning of everything.
Chaos (Χάος) embodies the yawning chasm that existed before creation, a vast, formless expanse of potential. From them, all things sprung forth—the universe as we know it, the gods, the earth, and even the underworld. Unlike Zeus, who wields thunderbolts, or Poseidon, who rules the seas, Chaos has no weapon, no throne, no domain in the traditional sense. They are the domain.
Chaos Is Not “Chaotic”
It’s easy to hear the name and think of modern connotations: confusion, disorder, madness. But the ancient Greeks didn’t see Chaos that way. Chaos was more like a blank canvas, an infinite abyss of raw energy. It wasn’t so much “chaotic” as it was the necessary first step toward order. Without Chaos, there would be no Gaia (Earth), no Nyx (Night), no Tartarus (the Abyss). They were the spark that lit the cosmic fuse.
The Lonely Creator
Chaos is often described as genderless and faceless, which makes them harder to picture than your standard deity. Yet their role is undeniably central to the mythological narrative. Out of Chaos came Erebus (Darkness) and Nyx, who in turn gave birth to other primordial forces like Aether (Light) and Hemera (Day). It’s poetic, isn’t it? Out of the void, light and darkness are born, and the dance of existence begins.
And yet, Chaos doesn’t seem to care about their descendants. Unlike other gods, who are constantly meddling in mortal and divine affairs, Chaos remains distant. They’re a creator who steps aside, content to let their creations shape the cosmos.
Why We Should Care About Chaos
Chaos might feel abstract compared to Zeus’ thunderbolts or Aphrodite’s beauty, but their story is deeply human. Chaos reminds us that from emptiness, something can emerge. From uncertainty, creativity is born. Chaos is the void we all face at times—the unknown, the formless beginning of every new chapter. And like the universe itself, we have the power to shape that void into something meaningful.
So, the next time you feel overwhelmed by the chaos of life, think of Chaos, the ancient void. It’s not just a place where things fall apart—it’s where things begin.
Reblog if you’re ready to embrace your inner Chaos and create something new.

I know this is a post similar to the popular animals one, but maybe a little more niche in its purpose but I want to make it anyway. It is fun after all to connect to a time of day for a deity regardless.
Day: Hemera (duh) Aither Helios Eos Helen Apollon Leto Hyperion Phoibe Theia The Hesperides The Horai (every single one)
Night: Nyx (duh) Asteria Hekate Hermes Athene Aphrodite Dionysos Selene The Pleiades The Hyades The Asteriai Atlas Pleione Demeter (cult practices/etc.) Persephone (same as Demeter) Hypnos Oneiros/The Oneiroi
Both: Artemis (doubles as a goddess of the moon, stars/constellations, but also dawn, daylight, and she does have the title Hemera) Hera (as the goddess of constellations/stars but also synced with Hemera)
