Don’t be a Loser, Stop the Abuser
Animal abuse is one of the most controversy conversations that affects society in a negative way. Animal cruelty is an illegal action which can ruin the animal’s habitat or have the animal tortured. The authors of the four sources, Darcy Logan, National Geographic News, The Humane Society of the United States and ASPCA all contributed to a conversation of the effects of animal abuse. The first approach towards the animal abuse topic is the article, What Are the Effects on the Environment Because of Animal Cruelty, by Darcy Logan. Logan addresses how there is an increase in violence and crime, and health risks such as factory farms. Logan states, “Factory farms have a larger impact on the environment because they produce more waste and pollution in a smaller area than other farming methods. Factory farms also feed antibiotics to their animals to prevent diseases caused by this type of situation.” Her comment about factory farms contributes to the abuse of animals and the environment by informing her audience about how something small such as abusing an animal, can grow into something bigger. Logan’s intended audience is for politicians because she wants to educate them on a little topic that can increase in society. Politicians often look into different crimes and the effects on wildlife to become successful in that position. From my opinion, I disagree with her intended audience because politicians often stretch the truth to make themselves more superior. They will often ignore the fact to make themselves look better, in order to gain more support. Without support they would be nothing. I would shift the intended audience to the general public because they are the ones who are causing the offense. Bringing tragic news of animals to politicians can cause the information to become false to the public, especially if they are corrupt as well. Moving back the topic of animal abuse, I agree with Logan about stopping animal abuse because it can spread to other things. This will lead to the next article, from National Geographic News, as they talk about the effects of animal abuse from rare animals. According to National Geographic News, “More than 70 million feral cats in the United States kill hundreds of millions of birds and over a billion small animals each year. This includes rare and endangered species like the piping plover and Florida scrub jay.” This contributes to the negative effects of wildlife, because if rare animals are slowly dying away, the ecosystem will have a big change to it. For example if the Florida scrub jay becomes extinct, the food it eats, such as insects will overpopulate, causing the crops that people eat decrease; which will lead to people in hunger or sickness. I agree with them because I believe that an illegal cruel action can always become something bigger in the end, in this case it maybe lead to animal extinction. The world evolves animal ecosystem, without them we would not be alive to this day. Therefore, it is best to keep all animals safe from abuse. This conversation also leads to animal rights because many people may argue about the differences between killing an animal, and being abusive to an animal. Like people, animals also have rights because they are living beings that reproduce and feed. Being abusive to an animal is almost the same as being abusive to a human being, both of them gets hurt in the end. I believe that animals have rights because not only is it a law, but it is also a fair way of giving animals the same treatment as humans do. The next source which will also introduce how animal abuse is, compared to other topics. As a reference from another source, The Humane Society of the United States also reports about the negative connotation of animal abuse. However in this case, they grab the reader's attention by intersecting other topics to animal cruelty. They pinpoint the audience to be animal lovers, but as they add in other topics, such as crime and murder, the intended audience shifts to become people who do not care about animals. I agree with their intended audience because it shows how the resource is trying to make society humane. I believe they persuade the audience to believe in their article as they add in controversial topics. One of the biggest eye catching topics that they add in, are about children. Children are young and pure to the open world, and to synthesize children with animal abuse gives the audience a sense of sympathetic emotion. The Humane Society states, “Children who abuse animals are sending out clear warning signs that they pose a risk to themselves as well as to others. The National School Safety Council, the U.S. Department of Education, the American Psychological Association, and the National Crime Prevention Council agree that animal cruelty is a warning sign for at-risk youth.” This quote shows how they compare children with animal abuse to trigger the audience’s emotion. Under any circumstance, animal abuse is never a positive action to do, however to this day animal cruelty still exists in many parts of the world. One of the most controversial topics that people pay to profit animal abuse are from zoos, however in this case it is a zoo located in Indonesia. Jonathan Symcox posts an article about the Surabaya Zoo, which had many dreadful issues with their animals. He talks about a lion named Michael, who was found hanged to death by steel cables inside it’s cage. However he does not know the cause of how the one and a half year old lion was hanged. Some people say that the lion was playing around and accidentally hanged himself, while others blamed the zookeeper of hanging it. The lion was not the only animal that was abused or killed in this zoo though. A giraffe was found dead with twenty kilograms of plastic inside its stomach while Sumatran tiger had a rotten digestive system after being fed meat with formaldehyde. With the abuse in animals, people are trying to close this zoo down. Symcox says, “The zoo in East Java's capital city was built over a century ago under Dutch colonial rule. Owners have refused to update the original zoo's structures. An online petition calling for it to be closed has more than 68,000 signatures.” I agree with the people who are petitioning to close the zoo down, because it raises an awareness for others to be cautious about paying for a place that can harm animals just like the Surabaya Zoo. To contribute to this conversation about the controversy of the zoo’s abuse to the animals, I believe it is the zoo’s fault for causing the animals to become unhealthy. It is the zoo’s duty to keep the animals safe and well in their environment. Although this zoo is one of the places that abuses their own animals in a misfortunate way, there are other places that causes this as well. Puppy mills are one of the places that causes abuse to animals, typically small young ones. These places are usually dog houses that is overcrowded with unsanitary surroundings. Puppy mills also do not give each dog the certain amount of food, water or care that they need, which may cause them to get sick or become weak. Puppies who live in puppy mills are often eight weeks of age and are sold to pet shops, the internet, or swap meets. They are kept in small, wired cages that can be sharp, which injures the puppies’ paw or leg. For female dog breeders, they are commonly killed if they cannot continue to reproduce. This action may not only happen to the female dogs, but also to the puppies. People are generally fooled by buying puppies from pets stores because they may seemed to be healthy and well cared, however this is ironic. A quote from ASPCA, or the The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals states, “The fact is, responsible breeders would never sell a puppy through a pet store because they want to screen potential buyers to ensure their puppies are going to a good home. The ASPCA encourages everyone to make adoption their first option.” The ASPCA pinpoints this topic to the general public who wants a pet. They want to educate this audience because they will become aware of the right thing to do to avoid animal cruelty. I agree with this quote because it creates a positive message for the intended audience. I want to contribute to this conversation by shifting the audience to the people who bought their pets from pet stores, because they will learn from their mistake and advise others to avoid recreating their mistake. They can also spread the truth about pet stores that come from harmful puppy mills. With the direct flow of the intended audience that I want, I believe that animal abuse would reduce in society if people were educated with adopting a pet instead of buying one. Overall, animal abuse should never be used on anything, even abuse on people. The four sources all contribute to how animal cruelty is a negative action that should not be tolerated with.

Blogging Plan for 2017 - Create Yours also
Plan is Simple
Good day friends, as 2016 is coming to an end, I thought of documenting my blogging plan for 2017. In last more than two months of blogging, I have been writing about walking, onsite, social issues etc. I have decided to plan for my next year topics beforehand.
( function() if (window.CHITIKA === undefined) window.CHITIKA = 'units' : [] ; ; var unit = 'publisher' : 'Codingshivaay', 'width' : 468, 'height' : 120, 'sid' : "wordpress-plugin above", 'color_site_link' : '41A995', 'color_title' : '41A995', 'color_text' : '41A995', 'color_bg' : 'ffffff', 'font_title' : '', 'font_text' : '', 'impsrc' : 'wordpress', 'calltype' : 'async[2]' ; var placement_id = window.CHITIKA.units.length; window.CHITIKA.units.push(unit); var x = "<di" + "v id='chitikaAdBlock-"+placement_id+"'>"+"v>"; document.write(x); ());
Blogging Plan
Planning in advance has double advantage for me one it will help me keep focus and secondly achieve my personal goals also. When I say planning it does not mean I will only write about these experiences, it actually means I will at least write about them apart from other things which I observe.
Somehow I believe everyone shall plan for things beforehand with one thing in my mind excess of planning is also bad. If you will look at my blogging plan for next year, you will understand I blog only if I have experienced about that thing.
12 book reviews one each month
This is something I am planning to do for a long long time but sadly things did not materialize. 12 is the minimum plan, hopefully I read more next year.
Serve the Society
Giving it back to the society has always been of prime importance for me. I plan to talk this more formally and hopefully add/motivate more people for this journey. It is still not decided what I will do, but will be sharing the details in coming weeks.
Serve Society
1000+ km of running and 30 days of Swimming
Walking and running is one good habit which I have developed recently. The journey has been amazing as you must have read in my other blogs.
1000+ KM Running
I am planning to run 1000+ km in 2017 and will document each and every run. I hope to achieve this goal in 10 months or so, 2 months is grace period.
Swimming, I will actually thank my employer for this as I learnt it in office. I always wanted to learn swimming but never had the courage to do so. Luckily I have learnt it. In India it happens in summer season for around 6 month and I target to complete 30 days of itJ
Loosing 10 KG
Now this is one hell of crazy goal, even after running/walking this year, I have not been able to lose much weight. The reason being with physical exercise, we shall keep a close tab on our diet which I have not.
Loose 10 KG
2017 is going to be a year of getting young for me:)
30 days of no refined sugar, no Tea and Junk Food
Quitting it for 30 days is toughest challenge. Sugar is worst addiction then smoking, been trying to stop for last 2 years but failing after 2-3 days.
Say No
Hopefully next year I complete this goal so as to break my dependency on it. Apart from Sugar, Tea and Junk food also a big no.
Let’s see how effective this plan is going to be next year:). I would love to hear what are your plans for next year?

Did you know that 700 to 1000 neural connections are formed each second in the infant’s brain and by the time the child turns 3, his or her ability to speak, learn, reason and speak are well developed? So why is the early year’s education so important? Can learning while still ‘in the cradle’ be beneficial for the growth and development of a child? Life skills are valuable lessons kids will use throughout their lifetime. But most kids don't learn how to handle real-world situations until they're in high school. Don't wait until your kids are teens to teach them life skills. Get a jump start on teaching practical lessons to your children right now, starting with decision making and then building on each life skill lesson as your children grow. In India there are over 80 million children who cannot afford schooling. Without education they have to go through many hardships in life from doing forced child labor to other cruel exploitations. Education is very important for a child since it helps one develop their personality. Chanakya said “Education beats the beauty and the youth” and education is the most powerful tool that empowers someone to face all shades of life. No child should suffer in a way how millions of children suffer because of not having the opportunities. Let us educate the underprivileged children of our country who are suffering due to their conditions. Let’s educate them. Let’s empower them.
