Don’t mind me, I’m just thinking about how Octavia’s fear of abandonment isn’t something new that’s been brought on by the divorce.

No, from the first time we see her, as a literal baby child, she has had persistent nightmares about this exact fucking situation. When she sings in Sinsmas, she’s not singing about fears that she’s had for the last year or two, she’s singing about fears that have been plaguing her for literally her entire life. And worse, we know that her and Stolas’ powers are made for looking into the future, so it’s probable that those nightmares were just premonitions of this situation, which—

Which makes the hurt so much worse, because her nightmares would’ve been accurate.

So it makes sense that her fears haven’t been soothed completely in the episodes that she’s appeared in, especially when in every single one her father has been repeating the behaviors he said he wouldn’t. Of course she’d still have a little voice in her head telling her to keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. To keep vigilant, and when that voice wasn’t able to be silenced for a month because her father wasn’t there?

Yeah, Sinsmas hurt me deeply and continues to do so.

It was so important to me that Stolas was able to be sad throughout the entire episode. Usually media likes to rush a character's grief/depression/sadness. Like "Stop moping around" or "get over it already." Depression doesn't just go away. It is a persistent feeling of sadness.

His depression was also presented through various emotions/emotional states.

Lethargy

Crying

Anger / frustration

Self-blame

Not wanting company and being emotionally drained and unable to reciprocate

We even see him Smiling / Laughing which is so important because we see that he is still in there behind the sadness and tears. His laugh is not as lively as it once but he is still capable of smiling and finding joy.

His problems weren't fix in the end and his sadness didn't go away even if he has someone who loves him by his side (and even if he loves him too). And I think this is one of the best depictions I have seen of a depressed character in media in a long time.

So I want to address something.

Octavia: “You had a choice and you chose him.”

I am of two minds: she’s 17. She’s going through a traumatic situation. She’s emotionally stunted because of the way she was raised.

She also told Stolas, to his face, in front of Blitz, that he should have let Blitz be executed.

I don’t hate her for this. Not at all. Teenagers are notoriously self-absorbed and you add some privilege/entitlement to that, a dash of trauma, and you get the inevitable consequences.

And also

She’s not an innocent little girl who’s done nothing wrong ever. She’s 17. She knows what she’s saying.

She said, to Stolas’ face, in front of Blitz and co., that he should have let Blitz die.

She’s speaking from a place of hurt and betrayal.

She’s also in the wrong for that. And I hope with time and perspective, with some maturity to understand that her father is flawed and traumatized and doing his best between a rock and a hard place, she will apologize for that.

can we talk about stolas and octavia and antidepressants for a second

as someone with a lot of experience taking antidepressants and dealing with family members who Do Not Understand how depression works, it really struck me how octavia deals with discovering that stolas has been taking antidepressants.

presumably, he has been taking these for a VERY long time and based on the evidence in this episode, nobody in his life knew about it- clearly not blitzø or octavia, at least.

i don't see stolas as someone who has been to therapy - this reads to me very much like someone who saw "happy pills" and decided to self-medicate because he thought they would fix him, not as someone who was prescribed a medication and a dose to take (we've seen him downing handfuls of these pills on several occasions in past episodes)

octavia is (understandably) unsettled when she finds this giant box of pills, and despite all her complicated feelings for her father she IMMEDIATELY goes to find him to bring him his pills

octavia is smart!! yes she is pissed off at her dad and this implies that she could have gone to see him at any time when he was calling her, but this discovery kind of goes beyond any argument- no matter how she feels, she ultimately doesn't want stolas to suffer

then we get the big fight scene, which ends with the devastating argument between octavia and stolas where she says "was this my fault that you needed these?"

i adore the amount of nuance in their interaction here for so many reasons, but specifically this vein of "i love you but clearly you don't love me or else you wouldn't be depressed" hits very close to home for me and i love the way it's shown as messy and neither stolas nor octavia really understand the way their words are hurting one another

so it kind of breaks my heart that she closes herself off to him but leaves him with this bottle of happy pills because he does need them. and she knows it, and she cares enough to want him to be happy.

she just doesn't think that happiness includes her, because in her mind she's nothing more than an obligation to him.

ugh the day these two reunite i will be reduced to a pile of mush i just love how complex their relationship is it's so tasty

Istfg if I hear one more person say "Millie cheated" or "She doesn't want a family" I'm going to scream. Have you seen their place? Moxxie and millie live in a shabby apartment and don't have the finances to have a child AND with their job which is very dangerous it'd be scary to raise a child. Even more so Millie and Moxxie are newly weds they don't have everything figured out and if they can't care for the baby properally they could get it taken away. Now pls no one go around saying Millie's a cheater. Love y'all mwah 💖💖💖

That disturbed face on Blitz and the fact they even put the censor bar over Andrealphus mouth made me laugh so hard. XD XD XD It also tells me what he said was way worse than the "C" word or whatever dirty talk Stolas came up with. O_O XD

I can only imagine how shit blitz must be feeling right now. He feels uncomfortable. Stolas' love for him disrupted, if not destroyed, Stolas' relationship with his daughter. Blitzø has always worried that he would hurt the people he cares about, so would this mean he technically hurt both Stolas and Via by just loving him?

I would definitely love more interactions between Via and Blitzø just to see how things pan out.

I thought about this scene in which Blitz and via actually agree. This isn't the first time they agreed on something

They both HATE Robo Fizz (understandably) .

I also noticed that they both have each other's numbers saved on their phones. (A really cute detail in my opinion)

But also the way Via depicts Blitz is heartbreaking.

Octavia doesn't see Blitzø Buckzo, the guy who makes her father happy. She sees the imp who ruined her family.

I can confirm that Blitzø does care for Via, as seen by this scene

Where he is giving Via a gift. There is inclusivity delivery.

I really hope they talk things out in future and can build a bond. We already know that Via and Loona built that sister-like bond.
