I already hated Dr. Jace's guts but then I noticed that she fucking changed her lipstick color after she tarred Brion to match the color his mother wore when she was interacting with him, as she believed that she was taking over the role of mother to him and his sister- I bet you she was happy when the King and Queen died because it meant that she could fill the gap.

I did not think I could hate this woman more than I already did but then this came up and good god the hate I feel within me is of myth proportions.

mtg standard decks i think the bg3 origins would play

astarion: monored aggro, but tbh i dont think hed even like it. he heard someone say its easy to pilot, and thats all Mr. Not Really The Planning Type needed to hear. bored and barely pays attention when hes playing. outside of the pun, i think orzhov bats would be a perfect fit for him, and make him feel smarter even if hes not the best at it

gale: keeps making combo decks and getting bored with them after a handful of wins prove to him that the concept works. still trying to break 2-mana jace. unwinds with azorius control and gets defensive when people call it winconless, because technically he has manlands and sunfall tokens. wants to think that his opponents are also having fun, but why tf would they be?

wyll: oh he had fun at the bloomburrow prerelease. still hasnt given up on frogs yet because he likes helga for both lore reasons (he loves an underdog! she just has to believe in herself!) and because hes a massive timmy who loves big creatures. totally isnt mad when his opponent efficiently removes 3 of his vaultborn tyrants in one game. why would he be mad? its just a game. he takes a smoke break after the match for completely unrelated reasons

karlach: hasnt played in years, so she had to rebuild her entire collection for standard (mostly plays edh for that reason. her fav is her rin and seri deck with mostly older cards in the 99 that she refuses to acknowledge are bad in 2024). plays the greediest lizard deck youve ever seen because shes also a timmy. i think shed like boomer jund if any of her friends (other than gale) played modern

lae'zel: prowess and she fucking loves it. "gruul is brain dead"? not the way she pilots that shit. she runs her deck like the navy. takes forever psychoanalyzing her opponent and thinking 4 turns ahead. cant play edh because she thinks the social contract is dumb. why doesnt everyone try to win? winning is fun? fight her like you mean it. genuinely a good sport when she loses so long as it was a good fight

shadowheart: looks like somebody misses the 8 rack. 4 cut downs, 4 go for the throats, 4 deep cavern bats, 4 bandits talents, my god she wishes thoughtseize was standard legal but liliana keeps her bloodthirst sated. gets mad when she loses to zoo decks but deep down its 70% jealousy. feels a weird sense of loyalty and duty to stick with monoblack, but shed convert to naya in 3 seconds if she ever tried it

Do we know whether Vraska becomes a lizard or a snake when she visits Bloomburrow? We got a reprint of Vraska, Golgari Queen showing her as a snake for the Bloomburrow Secret Lair, but that could be more "what if" than canon. And in the story Helga said that Jace was accompanied by "a lizardfolk with green and black scales and yellow eyes" which is at least implied to be Vraska, but even Ral seemed to be expecting a snake over a lizard. "A lizard … Not a snake? Could it be …?"

Ral didn’t actually see Vraska, and Helga may have been mistaken (or not even know what a snakefolk is). The card version is what you’re most likely to see again.

Elseworlds Addendum - Terra 

Tara Markov was the illegitimate daughter of the King of the small European nation of Markovia.  The king hid his daughter’s existence by ushering her off into the care of the unscrupulous Doctor Helga Jace.  Aware that young Tara possessed patient metahuman powers, Dr. Jace performed experiments on Tara, ultimately awakening her ability top mentally control earth and rock.  

As she grew older, Tara began to show a cruel nature.  Having better mastered her powers, Tara renamed herself Terra and began to operate as a mercenary and assassin.  She was taken under the wing of the villain known as Deathstroke and together the pair devised a scheme to destroy the Teen Titans.  

Playing the role of a young and idealistic heroine, Terra was taken in by the Titans and asked to join their ranks.  She accompanied the team on many a mission, while secretly spying on them and reporting back to Deathstroke.  

Terra finally revealed herself and together with Deathstroke Terra the pair were able to soundly defeat The Titans.  Nightwing and Deathstroke’s son attempted to save The Titans yet they too were defeated.   Yet Deathstroke was reluctant to kill his own son, a matter that enraged Terra.  Seeing Deathstroke as weak, Tera attacked him and The Titans were freed in the ensuing battle.  Panicked and overwhelmed with anger, Terra caused a massive earthquake and tragically perished in its midsts.  

Although Terra did not feature in the initial DCAU, the character played a prominent role in the Teen Titans animated series as well as in the Young Justice series (wherein Terra was voiced by Ashley Johnson and Tara Strong respectively). Terra first appeared in the pages of The New Teen Titans #26 (1982).

Overall Summary: Instead of taking the children of Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, Jafar, and The Evil Queen off of the isle, soon to be King Ben takes the advice of the girl from his dreams and instead invites a group known as 'the Badun Detective Agency' to Auradon in their steed. This agency consists of: 8 year old, Prince Hayden 'Hadie' Prometheus Athanasiou of the Underworld. Son of Hades and Persephone. 12 year old, Hermione 'Hermie ' Leona Bing. Daughter of the Ringmaster and Miss Atlantis. 13 year old, Edmund 'Eddie' Sereiah Balthazar. Son of Sarah Brown and Edgar Balthazar. 13 year old, Reza Vizer of Agrabah. Adoptive son of Sadira of Agrabah and Mozenrath. Biological son of the former Royal Astronomer of Agrabah. 15 year old, Jason 'Jace' Nelson Badun. Son of Katrina Stronghold the strong woman and Jasper Badun. 16 year old, Harold 'Harry' Everett Badun. Son of Horace Badun and Helga Sinclair. 15 year old, Yzla Sorcerer of Enchancia. Chapter 1: The Dream That Changed Everything.

Chapter 1 Summary: Ben's proclamation gets some tweaking. Trigger warnings: implied inhumane conditions, implied child abuse/endangerment/neglect, implied abuse of power (on Ben's parents' part), trust issues, etc.

She was beautiful in the same way a forest fire was.

Beautiful but destructive. 

Yet Ben just couldn’t stay away from her—the girl with purple hair who visited him in his dreams and refused to give her name.

The two of them had been dreaming of each other for months now and their conversations stretched longer and longer each time they met—causing his crush on her to expand into something more. Something he couldn’t afford while he was still with Audrey.

He couldn’t hurt his childhood friend like that. Even if they weren’t going to be together for much longer. 

She meant far too much to him for him to pursue the feelings he currently had while they were still together. But at the same time Ben couldn’t just abandon the mysterious girl with purple hair who actually saw him and asked what he wanted instead of just reminding him of his duties (that he had never asked for). 

The thought of just turning his back on her completely like the rest of Auradon had didn’t sit right with him.

So Ben crafted his proclamation, deciding that he wanted her (and the other isle kids) happy even if he could never be with her. 

He just needed to run the idea by her—which is what brought him here. On a rooftop of an unremarkable building on a dirty little island in his dream, with the purple haired girl next to him. Her feet and his both dangled over the edge.

She was in tattered purple pajamas that had blue and green little flames on them, Her skin was unnaturally pale, and her eyes… her eyes were cold, dead, and glowing green.

He tried not to think too hard about who her parents could be and cut to the chase. 

“Would you ever like to come to Auradon? If you could , I mean?” 

He wasn’t going to make any promises he wasn’t sure he could keep.

The girl stared off, kicking her legs back and forth absentmindedly. Thinking. Biting her lip so hard that blood started to trickle down her chin. Not that she noticed. 

Ben winced and fought back the urge to reach out and wipe it away, knowing that he’d be crossing several lines with several different people if he did so. 

Finally, dream girl spoke.

“Well, it depends…”

Ben perked up, giving her his full attention—trying his best not to make it too obvious while doing so. “On what?

The girl sighed. Sounding so, so tired.

“Well, for one, I would not leave without my squad. I’m their leader and it’s my job to protect them, so if I were to leave they’d have to come with me. You know?”

He nodded because it made sense. He wouldn’t want to go to a foreign place by himself either—especially not if it meant leaving his own friends behind. 

The purplette tilted her head at him, staring at him again. As if she was staring right into his very soul.

Ben wondered if she could, in fact , do that. But he didn’t ask nor did he flinch. He just stared right back, awkwardly. Waiting to see if she had more to say.

She did.

“And before I even considered going, my little brother would have to be there—”

Little brother?

She had never mentioned a little brother before.

‘That’s because she didn’t trust you, before’ a small voice in the back of his head that sounded strangely like a mix of Lonnie, Audrey, Jane, Mrs. Potts, and his mother.

He knew that the voice was right but still couldn’t help but feel ever so slightly hurt. Even if he decided not to show it.

“—Because it’s not safe here, Dreamer.” Her voice cracked ever so slightly as she used her special nickname for him, since she refused to allow him to tell her his name either .

“What?” Ben asked—startled, confused, and the tiniest bit horrified because his parents had built the isle.Had come up with the idea for the isle. Had left the children there. If it wasn’t safe—

“It’s not safe here!” the girl snapped, almost… growling… with frustration. “It’s… the isle of the lost is not a good place. Horrible things happen here. Horrible things that a little boy has no business seeing. Which is why I can never leave here if my brother wasn’t out of here first.”

She ran a hand through her hair, breathing heavily. Looking pained. 

It broke his heart.

“I’m not sure if it would be Auradon I’d go to if I had the chance of getting out of here with my friends, but I would willingly leave here if and only if Hadie wasn’t here—”

Hadie must have been her little brother. 

Ben did his best to memorize the name, knowing that the girl wouldn’t repeat it if he asked.

Because she had let it slip without meaning too after months of sharing the barest info with him in their little meetings.

Because she had been hurt and let down too many times to trust him with even her name and so had her brother who she referred to as a ‘little’ boy, most likely.

Just what had his parents done?

“—But that doesn’t matter because it’s not like anyone over there in Auradon would even consider letting any of us out of here.”

The world around them started to fade out of view like it always did as Ben’s resolve to see his proclamation through strengthened. 

He’d get the isle kids off the isle and into Auradon even if it killed him—starting with Hadie and his friends.

Jace Badun does not like Helga Sinclair.

The rest of the BDA don't really like her either.

She left Harry and his twin sister, Mable, on the doorstep of de Vil Manor when they were a year old. Left Harry in a house where he outlived most of his siblings and cousins. Where he outlived Mable and ended up living in a treehouse.

She didn't know.

But that doesn't make it any easier for them to let go of the anger they all hold on Harry's behalf.

"I'M HIS MOTHER!"

"ONLY BY BLOOD! YOU TOOK CARE OF HIM WHEN HE WAS A BABY AND THEN DIPPED! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO DID THE REST OF IT?!"

"I DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE!"

"YOU DIDN'T RAISE HIM AND IT'S NOT LIKE YOU GAVE HIM HIS BEST CHANCE, LIKE OTHER PARENTS DO WHEN THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR KID! YOU LEFT WITH AN ATTEMPTED PUPPY KILLER, YOU LEFT HIM WITH SOMEONE WHO KILLS CATS AND ABUSES HER NIECE AND NEPHEWS AND OWN CHILDREN!"

"I DIDN'T KNOW!"

Jace stops yelling, his voice told. "No. You didn't know. But you also never checked in even though no one was stopping you. You didn't investigate the rumors. Harry and I were living in a tree house for ten years-"

"Jace please stop, that's my mom-"

"You didn't raise him. You didn't provide for him. You didn't tuck him into bed and read him bedtime stories, or patch him up. My mother and stepmothers and his stepmothers did. You didn't comfort him after every death. The de Vil kids, his half siblings, and my half siblings did. You didn't shatter , hide, or paint over all the mirrors in the house when he couldn't look at them anymore anymore after Mable died or make sure he ate, sleep, and took care of himself. You didn't make him take responsibility for anything. You didn't keep him alive, I DID!"

(Jace is the muscle of the group but that doesn't mean he doesn't know where to verbally hit you where it hurts like the others do. He may prefer being peacekeeper, but that doesn't mean he won't duel out any verbal jabs when he has to.

Helga Sinclair might not have known about Harry, Hunter, and Mable's suffering but that doesn't mean Jace is gonna forgive her so easily for having left in the first place.

It doesn't mean he'll forgive her for keeping her other two kids (Holiday and Helena) in the main universe or forgive her for keeping them, ONTOP of keeping her and Hades son (Alex Sinclair-Aoratoes) in the Hannah Hook verse just as easily.

He's angry and he's not afraid to show it when Harry's not there.

" Jace is right " Carina stated . " You may have given birth to him , but you're not his real mom. "

" Yeah , and sides what kinda of person leaves their son with an animal killer !" Lampwick chimed in angrly .

" you should have made sure he went to a good home " Bria added with disappointment in Harry's mom .

Bella said nothing to Helga but she did glare at her.
