Ms. Ruby is best known for her role in the 1961 film “A Raisin in the Sun,” and for being a fierce advocate for racial equality during the Civil Rights Movement. She also served as an emcee during the 1963 March on Washington.

Today, we honor Ruby Dee for helping reshape Black actors’ experience in the entertainment industry and using her platform to fight for civil rights. 🙌🏽

David was a wonderful character actor who lent his voice to several great characters in animation.
