Covid-19 boosters could keep thousands of kids out of hospitals, but uptake remains low
CNN Ā ā€”Ā  Higher Covid-19 vaccination rates among US children could prevent thousands of pediatric hospitalizations and millions of missed school days, according to an analysis published Tuesday by the Commonwealth Fund and the Yale School of Public Health. If school-age children were vaccinated with the updated Covid-19 booster shot at the same rate that they were vaccinated against flu lastā€¦

Partnerships and cooperation for water and health.
Weak partnerships between the health and water sanitation and hygieneĀ (WASH) sectors lead to significant losses in efficiencies, despite their obviousĀ interdependencies.
Shockingly, major gaps in basic WASH still exist, with 1.8 billion people using health care facilities that lack basic water services and 800 million using facilities with no toilets.
Progress requires cooperation across a wide range of stakeholders, such as policy-makers, engineers and scientists, health care professionals, veterinarians, farmers, donors, NGOs, and private citizens and corporations.

Pope jokes he's 'still alive' as he leaves hospital | CNN
Rome CNN Ā ā€”Ā  Pope Francis joked that he is ā€œstill aliveā€ as he left the hospital in Rome where he spent the past few days being treated for a respiratory infection. He stopped to talk to well wishers and journalists after being discharged from Romeā€™s Gemelli hospital on Saturday morning. The Pontiff was in good spirits when he replied to CNNā€™s Delia Gallagherā€™s questions about how he wasā€¦

I wanna get sober. Like, legitimately. I havenā€™t had a truly good dopamine day in what feels like months and Iā€™m not getting the emotional benefits as much anymore. Plus itā€™s getting harder to deal w/ the trade offs like It Tastes Bad and It Makes You Nauseous. Basically, itā€™s time. But like. I donā€™t have any Cool Healthy New Coping Mechanism to replace it, nor do I have a Fulfilling Life Full Of Purpose to live. Like Iā€™m still gonna be living alone unemployed no friends only social interaction face to face is with my family. So Iā€™m worried Iā€™m setting myself up for failure. Plus the suicidal bullshit has gotten worse as of late and while being drunk hasnā€™t helped me feel less miserable overall lately, it has gotten me from Actively Suicidal to Passively Suicidal. Which I guess if I was looking at it from the perspective of It Doesnā€™t Need To Make You Feel Better, It Just Needs To Keep You Alive then all the distress tolerance bullshit from DBT would be useful there but Iā€™m sooooooo rusty on those. In conclusion: augh

I don't think I posted it here, but I will be slower in general for a couple weeks. I have been attempting to pick at stuff and things but stress is a killer for creativity, hoping to be more present again when I have an update on a family health matter.

NPR: N.C. hospital sues an 18-year-old quadriplegic to make her leave
"Ratcliff, a quadriplegic who uses a ventilator, has lived at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist since she was 13. She wants to leave, too. But not to the nursing home the hospital found for her in another state.
She wants to live in a home nearby, close to her family and school.
When she refused to move to the distant nursing home, the hospital sued her for trespass."

How Much Does Inpatient Rehab Cost?
If you or a family member is looking into inpatient rehab, one of your main concerns might be the cost. Rehab costs vary widely based on the facility, the length of stay, and the services offered. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect based on different types of rehab centers:
Basic Inpatient Rehab
Basic inpatient rehab centers typically include standard treatment programs. Shared rooms and fewer luxuries are usually included here. Such programs are formulated with the minimal essentials to support recovery, rather than featuring added comforts. Such programs cost between $2,000 and $20,000 per month.
Mid-Range Inpatient Rehab
Mid-range rehab centers will offer a much more customized approach to treatment. They will typically include some form of individual therapy sessions and upgraded accommodations. This way, you receive a better level of care within a relatively affordable budget. Normally, a mid-range inpatient rehab option falls within the $10,000 to $30,000 per month price range.
Luxury Inpatient Rehab
Luxury inpatient rehabs are the top-tier institutions that offer personal quarters, good dining services, and special privileges such as spa treatments and access to personal trainers and calming views of nature. Luxury services do not come cheap and can cost as much as $30,000 to over $100,000 per month.

Factors Influencing Cost
Another factor that determines the total cost of rehabilitation is the duration of your stay. Most rehabilitation programs are 30 to 90 days long, but some may require longer stays depending on one's condition and goals for recovery.
Insurance and Financial Assistance
Most plans offer coverage for some kind of rehab, but the coverage is case-by-case, determined by what your plan is and if the place you want to go has a network affiliation. Be sure to call your insurance provider to know what their policies are and if that rehab center accepts your type of insurance.
The best rehab facilities offer sliding scale fees or financial aid based on the recipient's income and need for it, especially if they are uninsured or experiencing economic hardship. Ask the rehab center for a payment plan or any financial aid available.
Conclusion
Inpatient rehab charges may range from a few thousand dollars to over 100,000 dollars per month, all being dependent on the level of care and treatment amenities, but most of these are covered by insurance. It is always important to check this information before entering the program so that one will be aware of the resources that could be accessed in helping one afford the costs of such a facility.
