This except like most polyglots they end up knowing certain words and phrases only in particular languages so they've created a weird new bat language. None of them know all of the languages mixed in there fluently. They hear words and understand them but they couldn't tell you which language that word is from.

multilingual batkids. they learn each others languages so they can mix and match. for example:

For my text roleplays, I wanted to explore in more detail the question of...how Ren would treat the MC if they were beastkin. I didn't find any answers from Gato at that time, or I didn't look hard enough, but I came up with a headcanon regarding my cat-beastkin and I think it would suit all feline beastkins.

Foxes are vulpine (more to canines than felines tbh) and, remembering my pets (cats and dogs), when I brought them someone new to the family, due to the primary difference in smells, difference of species, habits, territorial instinct, they always treated newbie more aggressively at first.

And based on this + because of "remake" of Ren (where he looks more brutal, I think...and I like it so much), I have a headcanon that the two beastkins could even fight, simply because their instincts (which can be more acute towards beastkins than towards human) would dictate them to do so on the common territory (Strade would root for Ren in this case and would have a lot of fun, yeah. I can't speak for all MCs, but personally my cat-girl is definitely not a fighter, Ren could easily beat her up, and Strade would cut her claws or uses oven mitts, firmly securing them on her hands to avoid cuts on the fox-boy. 0 chanses.) But this is only the first month, then, I think, everything would be more calm (well, as calm as it can be in Strade's house)

I'm not trying to make Ren out to be some kind of bully, I think my cat might be provoking him unconsciously, that's just her nature somitimes. I just like to imagine that beastkins literally have to suppress their strong instincts to function in society, including if they encounter other species besides regular humans.

I've put this in a few other places, so if you see it floating around elsewhere it's me. As far as I know, I'm the only one with this headcanon.

After the Job debacle, Jemima keeps trying to summon Crawley. Not intentionally, and not by way of hellish ritual or anything. She just keeps praying to God for "that funny demon" to come back and play with her.

Crawley can feel it. At first he laughs it off, but after a while it gets annoying. So one day he goes back to Job's place to tell Jemima to stop doing that to tell her that she can't be doing that. He means to tell her off, really. But she ends up showing him all of her new pottery projects. By the time she eventually ends up plaiting his hair he makes up his mind to tell her...

When Sitis comes in, wondering who Jemima is talking to. She sees Crawley, recognizes him.

"Ah Bildad the Shuhite, how lovely to see you again. You're staying for dinner of course." Then she leaves, presumably to get dinner going. Crawley is left speechless, mouth open, no words, not given a choice.

At the dinner table, he feels out of place. Ennon and Kesiah keep looking at him funny, and once or twice they try to ask questions, but Sitis shushes them. After they eat, Crawley is given an open invitation to join them again next week. He says no.

Sitis sets him a place anyway.

He shows up.

Each dinner he's given another invitation. Each time he declines. Each time Sitis sets him a place anyway. Each time he shows up anyway. It's almost like she's known his type before. The type who are prickly on the outside, but sweet on the inside and just wanting someone who is willing to hold them regardless of the thorns. The only other person ever to do that has been Aziraphale, and Someone Knows where he is these days.

Next thing he knows, Crawley has actually become Bildad the Shuhite: Family Friend. He is around regularly, and even Ennon and Kesiah don't mind him so much, although they still roll their eyes at him whenever they think they can get away with it.

He tells Jemima his real name ONCE. While the two of them are alone, playing Tea Party with her dolls.

She mishears "Crawley" as "Crowley."

He keeps it.

so one of my favorite riordanverse headcanons is that rogues tend to go by aliases (either self-selected or assigned to them over time by others) just simply referred to as "rogue names" to deal with the whole "names have power" thing.

i LOVE making rogue ocs just based on thinking about what their rogue names would be, but i also have a lot of fun thinking about what canon rogue characters would go by so here is a little doodle page of a few hcs (plus Hylla's is technically canon! :3)

Twilight can do perfect voice mimicry of any person and he absolutely exploits this skill to the fullest extent in operation strix. At one put he had a full conversation with Becky pretending to be Anya, granted he almost lost his voice after but it worked. He once convinced Director Gorey to give him a bunch of patients by imitating Fiona.

The one voice he is most proud of is his Yor voice. She has such a distinctive tone and odd speech patterns it actually takes effort to get it done perfectly. He can fool her boss, their neighbors, her coworkers, even got Handler a few times. He even convinced a drunk Yor she was talking to herself and that she needed to go to bed.

There is only person it has never worked on. Yuri. Not only does he realize it's not Yor immediately, he also notices it Loid every time. He has fooled Yuri on many occasions (think of the mole arc) but for whatever reason he can always tell when it's not Yor. No matter how much Twilight tries it never works and it stresses him out so much.

There is no explanation btw, Yuri just can smell Loid's vibe from a mile away
