Okay, maybe a little. Teeeeeensy tiny bit. Maybe. What? The 'Malina Stare' isn't for the faint of heart! That single, unhinged look Malina gives him tells him all he needs to know; HE WINS! Kuzco leans against the arm of his throne, arms laid on top of one another as he watches the breakdown happen in real time. It reminds him all too much of her freak out just before her interview with the guy from Incan Teen, and he's only a little bit okay, a lot smug that it only took a day for her to realize he was right. See, the thing about Kuzco? Everyone assumes he's lazy for the sake of being lazy. He cares! Or, DID care when he was younger. When he was old enough to really understand it all, Kuzco gave everything 110%. He sat in on villager complaints, went to all of the board meetings, signed petitions, made new beneficial laws, organized defensive maneuvers-- you name it, he had a hand in it. But over time . . . the peasants got needier. Demanding more from one village based on what he gave their neighboring village last growing season, or the council demanding he take on more responsibilities. They were taking advantage-- and he began to hate it. Over time, he did grow more lazy-- as a coping mechanism. Sure, he could handle it all, but why did he WANT to if it just meant they would demand more from him down the line? He's not as dumb and lazy as everyone makes him out to be; but he's okay with being underestimated if it benefits him. Clearly, Malina hasn't learned that lesson yet. When she screams, he pushes away from the throne and folds his hands behind his back, schooling his features into something he hopes looks neutral. It isn't long before the room is cleared, and he resists the urge to whoop until she takes the crown off and hands it to him. "CROWN-Y! I'm so glad to see you baby, did you miss daddy? I missed you so much, yes I did-- " Kuzco gently scritches a finger against the the side of the crown as he baby talks it, and buffs it a little bit with his sleeve before slipping it back on his head. Then he's fist pumping the air and slipping into a moonwalk, for good measure. "Oh yeah, I was right! Uh huh, uh huh-- uh huh, uh huh, uh huh! I told you it was hard!" A quick spin to finish off the dance, and he's jabbing a finger back at Malina. "But you were all; 'what are you talking about Kuzco, I can handle it! I'm a smart peasant girl, I can do your job way better than you can! boo hoo for you!' HAH hah!" Kuzco gloats, calming down after a moment before he makes her too mad and takes a seat on the arm of his throne.

With a smile he snaps his fingers at the servants still waiting at the base of the dais. "Water, fans and grapes. Oh-- and slippers. Someone find me some slippers." Back to looking at her, now with a fond smile. "For the record? You're not an 'ordinary' girl-- you're Malina. And despite the mob of angry peasants who are coming to destroy the palace for being kicked out early, you did great today." He grins, teasing. The servants are back quickly with the requested items, and he takes the slippers for himself and gestures for them to water, fan and feed Malina to replenish some of her energy. -- and he can rub some feeling back into his feet.

The stare still scares him, he should admit that haha.

He never gives up, HUH? how incredible it is that a day has her exhausted when Kuzco had managed to do this much and a little bit more all these years, despite that there must have been days where he got lazy, but she was starting to understand why he chose to be that way.

Despite her being tired, she unconsciously offers Kuzco a smile as she sats on his 'Throney' and feels his pat. She then returns her gaze to the long line of peasants. As time passes and the line is getting shorter, Malina sleeps for several miliseconds when peasants talk to Kuzco instead of her only to wake up at the feeling of Kuzco's nudges, forcing her to offer solutions to peasants' issues. Malina also checks on him in secret, worried that his feet are killing him by now. All because she's too proud to admit this job is difficult for a former peasant like her.

Guess both will soon find out if the whole empire knows what the heck is happening. Malina doubts Kuzco might want to give any explanations about it, hehe.

However, she has a feeling she's doing a decent job at least, until now that is. She might need those praises coming from Kuzco. This is tiring and she's not used to it. As much as she hates to admit, she needs more preparation as she's only a former peasant girl who's still studying at college. Malina might finally confess she gives up once the audiences are ove-

WHAT?! HOURS?! Malina glances at Kuzco as if he's nuts and whines irritated as she's starting to have a headache. She gives up entirely. Half a day is an abuse too, is he serious? "ENOUGH!" She yells rather harshly everyone stops in their tracks. Even the peasant who was talking to her shuts his mouth and looks at Malina in a mix of confusion and fear as the rest of the subjects and palace staff alike. Silence fills the air and someone coughs out of the blue.

Malina clears her throat and resists the urge to laugh nervously. She gathers some force to stand up from her seat and declare.

"You must pardon me, dear subjects! But audiences are canceled for today!" Naturally, the villagers begin to complain loudly but Malina gestures to the guards stationed in front of the line of people to force the furious crowd out of the throne room and the palace. Malina lets out a sigh of relief when everyone leaves the room. That's when she sits again on the throne, takes Kuzco's crown off her head that grew too heavy for her to carry and looks at it shortly before she casts a sleepy look at Kuzco who is still beside her. She grins at him regardless.

"Here, Kuzco. I give up". She says and hands him his beloved headdress, waiting for him to take it. He must take it quick or she will threaten him with throwing it away.

"Is too much for an ordinary girl like me. The complaints drain a lot of energy, ugh". She admits as she braces herself for his gloat and dancing about her admitting he was right all along.

She could've managed to do much more in more days but... the audiences... ew (as Kuzco would put it). She would seriously think twice about becoming Empress, unless Kuzco has a plan so they both won't suffer.

By stumbling into so many Houses of Change when they first forget everything about everything, and agreeing to things that they didn't fully understand when they were still getting a grip on the language! But they committed and they didn't feel like getting a new job in life even after they realized they became a 'devoted follower of the Change God', so it suited him well enough XD

Do you think the First Ninja has Survivor Syndrome? if so, how strongly does it manifest itself?

Survivor Syndrome is no joke, and i feel like it's even worse when its not just your comrades in arms, but also family. In my own headcanon version of Norisu Clan, since First was the baby of the family, he did not just lose his siblings (some of who were like his parents), but also teachers, mentors, comrades and more importantly heroes to him. Like, imagine you look up to someone your whole life, who taught you everything you know, and you witness their demise, and you are so freaking devastated and angry and determined to avenge them... but also how in the hell can you even attempt to succeed when all of your heroes failed??? But he has to, there is literally no choice for him, because Sorcerer needed to be stopped and he was the last one standing.

And then he does succeed, and he is still alive. Like, I 100% headcanon First as someone who was prepared to die to finally contain the Sorcerer. And after surviving he wouldn't know how to live not chasing the Sorcerer anymore.

So besides the obvious pain and suffering, the nightmares and being unable to get close to people, I headcanon that the Survivor Syndrome manifested so strongly, that First literally threw aside any remains of his civillian identity, of a possibility of a normal life he could possibly have. Because if his siblings did not get to live their lives, why does he? The only thing that was left is the Ninja, the Norisu Ninja - the culmination if all the sacrifices his Clan made, his siblings made. And his only goal in life would be to ensure that Ninja will survive when they didn't. Even if it will cost him his mortal life and immortal soul. And if Ninja lives, the Norisu clan lives, the village and later Norrisville lives on. That's what pushed First into creating Ninjanomicon, to make sure that some remains of his siblings sacrifice lived on.

And I feel like this self-sacrificial mindset that First adapted, saddens the spiritual remains of his siblings greatly. They would probably prefer that after defeating the Sorcerer, that he forgave himself and tried to live a life, but also, like... they are spirits so there is not much they can do to change his mind? They can only bear witness to his suffering.

Okay but this scene. Sorry but OMG the start of The City on the Edge of Forever man. The way that after McCoy's accidental self-injection, every crewman already on duty is already over there trying to help him. The way that despite this Kirk makes them all get the Hell out of the way so that he can put himself beside him. How he just hovers over him until he goes all psychotic is just... God these two do things to my feelings~

And then Spock? Spock didn't have to go over there. He could have just let Kirk handle it. But nope. He bolted over there just as quickly as Kirk did. He's just as worried about what just happened as Kirk, as especially evident at the end with the aggressive hand-shaking. Just... damn. The way that two just care so much about their McCoy and it's so beautiful and I love it~!
