Every Step of the Way
Oscar Piastri x Reader x Logan Sargeant x Liam Lawson
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, sick fic
Summary: With a new diagnosis, sometimes things can be confusing and scary. Oscar, Liam, and Logan do their best to help make things as easy as possible.
Warnings: Authors limited knowledge of cancer and chemotherapy
Notes: To the requester, I hope this brings you some comfort. I understand the fear of a new diagnosis. It's a difficult things to navigate.
Masterlist // Request Form // My Website // buy me a Ko-Fi
The appointment feels like it was years ago, yet she's still sitting in the office. The weight of the words sinking in, the new diagnosis still registering.
Cancer. The single word nobody wants to hear. It is a life changing thing that could pose to be fatal.
And right now, she feels alone. At the mercy of her own emotions. Her phone buzzing beside her, but her consciousness is too far away to notice it.
She hadn't been feeling well for some time. Oscar had suggested seeing a doctor, but she claimed allergies. She'll have to admit to him that he was right (again, as per usual).
The boys have been busy lately, off racing and traveling. She's been stuck home trying to get through all these appointments. The one time they are home, she wishes they weren't.
How is she supposed to tell them her body is trying to kill her? They have too much going on in their own lives right now to worry about her on top of it. The lovely anxiety she's been having over being a burden to her boys sets in once more.
She hates it. These dejected emotions want to escape from her via tears. Yet they don't come. They pool in her eyes instead, just on the cusp of sliding down her cheeks.
Her phone buzzes again. She looks at this time and sees the spam from Liam and Logan asking if she's been kidnapped or something. So much for not worrying them.
She drives him in silence. Only her thoughts to keep her company. The ones that tell her maybe she did something to deserve this. She thinks back to anything that could've cause this kind of karma.
She pulls into the driveway and tries to put a smile on her face as she walks through the door. "I'm home!"
Liam nearly tackles her to the floor as he scoops her up and tosses her onto the sofa. The one all three of the boys have turned into the perfect comfort spot with blankets and snacks and a movie already on the screen.
“Figured you might want some reprieve after your appointment.” Logan tosses a blanket over her.
“You don’t want to now the results?”
Oscar wraps an arm around her and tucks her close to his chest. “You were supposed to be home two hours ago. whatever it is, we can talk about it after you’ve had some time to wind down.”
She ends up falling asleep during the movie. the comforting presence of all three boys has her mind drifting off to somewhere that isn’t her own failing body.
She tries to soak up the normalcy of it all before things get worse. The voice in the back of her head is telling her that they won’t want her around when she’s too exhausted to do anything. when she starts draining their bank accounts because of all the medical bills.
The sleep she got was restless despite not waking up. They’d moved her to bed at some point. The cuddle pile and soft snores tell her it’s probably still early.
She maneuvers herself out of bed without waking the boys. A dance she’s done a thousand times before.
The glass of water is in her hands, but she doesn’t remember walking into the Kitchen. Everything is too much right now.
Her knees find the floor and the water spills everywhere. The glass shatters when she throws it in anger.
So much for not waking anyone.
Footsteps hastily make their way towards her. She can hear them whispering as they come around the corner and see the mess that she’s made.
“Love, I’m gonna come get you alright?” Strong arms wrap around her and bring her off the floor. She zones out listening to the song clatter of glass being picked up.
Back on the sofa again. The boys don’t push but she can tell they want answers. all three of them share nervous gazes.
“Cancer.”
She waits for anyone to say anything, to get angry and scream, maybe even cry. Instead she is hugged with such a gentle kind of love that she breaks. The tears don’t stop until she is dehydrated and choking.
“We’re not leaving you, alright? This diagnosis doesn’t stop us from loving you.”
The next week is torture. Getting ready for and starting chemotherapy is a nightmare.
It hurts, she’s sick, and the exhaustion makes everything worse.
But she also has people around her who love and care. They stick with her on the bad days and the worse days. they make the best out of the good days.
Oscar makes sure she sleeps, Logan makes sure she eats, and Liam tries to kidnap her when the other two get over protective.
It’s certainly a hard road. Some days are harder and she can barely function, but she’s trying.
Plus, it does help having people who love her around.

the fandom has felt kinda quiet to me for a few days now (which might totally be my fault i dont think im using this app correctly) and i kinda feel like im standing with a group of people where everyones done talking and no one know what to say next so im gonna do what i do then too: Yap ‼️ (its my one talent)
if you’d like to yap with me feel free to hop in my ask box and say whatever you like, headcanons, theories, whatever, but for now here are some random little headcanons I have:
(disclaimer: my apologies for weird spelling errors or oddly autocorrected words im dyslexic lmao)
- Wild loves to do fun things with his hair! He loves braiding it up in new styles or putting pretty things in it or buying fun clips to keep it out of his face. Sometimes one of the others with shorter hair who can’t do their own fun hairstyles will ask Wild if they can do his, and he almost always says yes
- Legend is the most likely to buy little gifts for the others. He’s not as likely as the others to verbally say he cares, and he can come off as a bit standoffish, but he really does love the others and gifting them little things is how he shows it. He bought Sky a beautiful new carving knife once, he loves giving Wild earrings (and Wild is not above just poking new holes in his ears so he can wear more of them at once), he gave Warriors a new journal one time, etc.
- Four is a HUGE fan of rain at night. He loves the sound it makes on roofs, it’s calming to him. It’s less fun when he’s sleeping outside, but he just loves the sounds and smells of rain. Warriors does too, and the two of them have sat out in the rain together silently, just enjoying each other’s company
- Twilight loves the occasional pet as Wolfie, as long as the others still hold the same respect for his physical space they do when he’s a hylian. He loves hugs, he loves the occasional pet, and he loves bonking the top of his head into the backs of Warriors’s legs to trip him before he innocently runs off to Time and acts like he’s done nothing wrong in his life ever
- Sky wakes up every day and chooses peace. He chooses kindness and love, and he seems so very calm and sweet on the outside, but if someone dares to lay a finger on someone he cares about he will explode and there will be serious consequences. He’s genuinely a very loving person, but he does have a side of him that’s just full of rage that he occasionally unleashes on monsters that deserve it. He one time let a sliver of that anger loose at a monster that knocked Wild unconscious and the others stood their with their jaws open, and then of course Sky turned back around after he calmed himself down and looked at them all like “:3”
- Hyrule cuts his own hair and because it has a good amount of curl to it, it ends up looking fluffy and it’s hard to see exactly how uneven it is. When Legend found him just trimming his hair in the dark with a knife he was like “what the fuck” and ever since he’s at least tried to help Hyrule make his hair a LITTLE more even (its still an absolute mess, but it looks fine on him)
- Wind gets under stimulated a LOT, it’s hard for him to just stay in one place or walk super slow or not be doing something with his hands, so Warriors taught him how to finger knit so he can do that while he walks as a sort of mindless activity. He doesn’t really make anything in particular, and he ends up unraveling it at the end of the day so he can keep reusing the same ball of yarn, but it helps him stay with the group and it gives him something to do as they walk
- Time is the biggest prankster of the group and he gets away with it every single time, and Wind, Wild, and Hyrule often end up taking the blame for it. The only ones who know it’s really him are Warriors (though he never actually catches him in the act, he just knows) and Twilight, who’s seen him do it several times and had to swear his silence. He’s too scared that Time will be disappointed in him if he reveals who the true prankster is, but he does feel genuinely bad every time someone else gets yelled at for one of Time’s dumbass pranks. On their last day together Time does reveal it was him all along, and then he literally leaves and disappears before the others have a chance to yell at him for it. When he arrives at the ranch alone with tears in his eyes, laughing his ass off, Malon somehow knows EXACTLY what just happened
- Warriors is usually the one who helps mend the other heroes’s clothes. They all have SOME ability to sew (some of them are better than others, like Wild and Legend, and some of them refuse to fix the holes in their clothes until it gets so bad there’s no fixing it and they literally just have to buy another tunic, *cough* Wind), but more often than not Warriors gets asked to do it, and he does it gladly. He does a wonderful job every time, and sometimes he gets to embroider little patterns, which is a lot of fun for him. When he gets bored he’ll just do that on his own spare tunics
again feel free to come talk to me in my asks or add ur own headcanons to this post :) i like to yap and i’ll gladly yap with you if you send me things

hiii, could i request a rafe fic with ‘’I’m gonna fuck you so hard you forget you ever even met that asshole.’’ + breeding kink where the reader just broke up with her shitty ex? tysm!!
This has been in my drafts for so long. I’ve sorry to the anon who requested it
Warnings: mention of cheating,
—
Is it really a party if someone doesn’t end up crying in a bathroom? the kind soul who would tell the crying girl to wipe her tears and that she deserved better than the asshole who hurt her, but tonight the role reversed and the curse fell on you.
You stared at your reflection with blurry eyes, wanting nothing more than to go home and put on your Taylor Swift heartbreak playlist and cry until sleep overtook you. That sounded like a perfect ending for tonight. But, to do that, you had to exit the bathroom and walk through the houseful of party people. A houseful of eyes who would see your red eyes and the smeared mascara and make you the next topic of gossip.
A loud knock — slam of hand — snapped you out of your bubble and forced you to come out of the bathroom.
A blonde girl pushed past you, visibly drunk, and slammed the bathroom door.
‘’Been in there for a while. Were you sucking a dick?’’ Rafe Cameron sniggered, a cocky smile on his face.
‘’I don’t have time for your shit, Rafe.’’ You wiped the last tears from your eyes and walked past him.
Unfortunately, he followed you. ‘’Are you crying because of the dick sucking? I was just messing with you—’’
You shook your head at how entitled he was. ‘’Not everything is about you,’’ you said before taking the stairs.
‘’What are those tears for then, uh? And don’t say you’re just drunk because you don’t seem drunk to me.’’
Rafe was the last person you expected to care, but here he was, following you in the stairs and asking the provenance of your tears.
‘’I just want to go home.’’
‘’I’ll take you home. My truck is parked across the street.’’
Although you wanted to decline — a car ride with Rafe sounded like a nightmare —, you didn’t feel like walking the five miles to your house. The faster you would get home, the faster you could cry in your bed.
‘’What do you want in exchange?’’ you asked cautiously, sensing there was something underneath.
Rafe shrugged his shoulders. ‘’Nothing. This is just an act of kindness.’’
‘’From you?’’ You scoffed. ‘’I’m having difficulty believing that.’’
The inside of the truck was surprisingly clean. There were no girl underwear on the backseat or weird stains. Just a random golf ball and a gym bag.
It was silent as Rafe drove, both of your eyes ahead on the road. You didn’t mind the quiet. Especially in Rafe’s company. Every time he opened his mouth, you dreaded whatever would come out.
“You don’t have to talk about it right now if you don’t want to, but I’m here when you are ready.”
Where was this sudden wave of kindness coming from? Was it hidden under his cocky and self-absorbed personality? Or was he just trying to get in your pants? It wouldn’t be the first time a guy faked being interested in you just to have sex.
You closed your eyes as tears welled and took a deep breath in. ‘’I…I caught him with his tongue in another girl's mouth.’’ You doubted he wanted to hear your horrible night, but continued. ‘’You know Rachel with the crooked nibs? Her shirt was off and his pants were undone — it was very obvious what they were about to do. He...he said it was a moment of weakness.’’ You huffed at his ridiculous excuse.
Did he really think this was going to make you forgive him? Men’s stupidity never ceased to surprise you.
‘’Eating chocolate cake during a diet is a moment of weakness. Not cheating of your girl.’’
A small smile curled on your lips. The comparison was unusual, but it worked.
For the rest of the drive, you found yourself gazing at Rafe — his summer skin and blue eyes, the way the wind coming from the window down blew in his hair…and the rumored huge dick he was hiding in his shorts. You wanted to run your hands through hair and kiss along his jawline. The cologne he had spritzed before coming to the party filled his truck, making your core tighten.
‘’Rafe?’’ He hummed, his eyes still on the road. ‘’Can you fuck me?’’
Your words surprised the both of you.
‘’Not because I like you,’’ you took care to precise. ‘’I just don’t want to go home and mope about a guy who cheated on me. I just want to take my mind off this.’’
A smug grin curled on his lips, shaking his head. ‘’Of course.’’
‘’I mean it,’’ you hissed. ‘’I’m not attracted to you. You’re annoying and full of yourself and—’’
He cut you off with his lips, kissing you over the gearshift. You quickly recovered from the initial shock and kissed back, grabbing him by the back of his neck and deepening the kiss, forgetting that Rafe was still driving.
You pulled back and Rafe parked the truck on the side of the road. The second the contact was cut, your lips connected again and he backed his seat to make room, then pulled you over and on his lap.
‘’I’m gonna fuck you so hard you forget you ever even met that asshole and then I’m gonna cum into your sweet little pussy, fill you up real good. Do you want that?’’ Rafe asked, his voice low and horny.
His filthy words elicited a whine from you, impatient to get to that point. As they say, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.

——-
I have no doubts with you. - Childe x reader
Not proofread!
Warnings: ur emo, my writing, breaking up themes.
Sitting along a viewpoint over Liyue, Childe sits with his body resting on his arms, the breeze is cold. “Babe, I was thinking” a pause.
“that’s dangerous..”
“Haha! It always is, but maybe we could go to Snezhnaya in a few days, the winter is beautiful there.” Turning his head, he waits for your response.
“Hmm.” I shouldn’t go.
“Is that a yes..? If so that’s great! My family misses you and have been asking when you’ll come back with me.” Face pink he turns head, “I kind of just want to see you in my homelands clothing too, my mom has old ones that you can wear until we go out ourselves.” He sits up properly and interlocks your fingers in his, smiling.
Don’t look at me like that.
“I don’t have enough mora for that right now, so your mothers clothes will do.” Shaking your head, you try to give any excuse you can find.
“Did I say you were paying? I’m taking you to my home, so it is my job to pay for whatever it is you want.” His expression doesn’t falter,
“Then why won’t you allow me to buy you things, seeing as you are in my hometown right now.” Why is he like this, stop talking to me.
You hate this feeling. “Why? Because I love you and I’m not letting you, simple!” He veils his arm over your shoulder, leaning to kiss your cheek, “plus… when we are together, I just like being with you.” He hums, you really shouldn’t be here.
“But those Snezhnayan clothes are a must! because even if you say no, I’ll just take my sister to pick them for you.” Squeezing you tighter, he gets really close to your face, tackling you onto the ground as to grins over you, “And I know you feel like you need to pay me back, so that’ll be ten kisses, on the lips, come on I’m waiiiiting.” Puckering his lips in the ugliest way he could muster, you grab his face and squish it, “ c’mon ‘m waitinggg” face still clasped, he engulfs you in his hold, peppering kisses along your face. Laughing and embracing each other, a clear display of lovers. You smile as he rests his head in your shoulder, but that feeling lingers. You know this won’t last.
Get off of me. Say it now.
Rising, he shuffles back to his place next to you, “I’ve been the only one talking this whole time, is there anything you want to do when we go? I’m all ears.” “Not that I can think of, I’m not too sure if I should go right now.” He sits still, hands still together, god, just let me go.
“That’s okay! It was only a thought, there’s no need to over extend yourself for my sake. We can spend time wherever you like.” His tone is gentle, and his body is so warm.
Do it or you’ll only make it worse.
“Ajax.. go back home, your family will want your company. I’ll stay here.” you need to leave. “Are you okay? We can always go next winter or maybe-” you look to your lap,
“Let’s break up.”
Holding in your shaky breathes you look to the sky.
“One day.. you’ll stop falling in love with me.” you sigh, “All I do is use you, and I’m aware of it. Yet, I allow you to do all my work in this relationship.” Your voice is nearly as soft as the wind, as if only for the Archons to hear, “we were better as friends it seems, I only follow you around and insert myself in matters that don’t regard me, I’m sorry.”
You don’t deserve him, and you knew that from the moment he confessed.
—
“Y/n! Why didn’t you wait for me?” Panting he rests on his knees. “That’s because all you do it talk Ajax.. you know it took you five minutes to realize I left?” Laughing you turn around to the tired boy, “I don’t understand how you are considered strong, when you follow me like a lost puppy all the time.” “It looks like even the strongest can’t live without me, does that mean you care about me? Or are you just desperate for friends.” Your teasing has always been something he appreciated, if it meant to see you smile, he’d let you do it everyday.
“Don’t you think you’re the one who is desperate, y/n?” Standing straight, he smirks, “I mean, I know many people form all regions. Yet, to me, it looks like you don’t know anyone in your own city.”
“You-“ he cuts you off, “That’s okay, you have me here! Anyway, let’s go eat I’m starving.” Walking ahead, he halts and points at you “But you need to find a place that doesn’t only use chopsticks. I can’t embarrass my self again.”
“I’ll teach you, idiot. And i’m paying!”
“You wish, I like you too much for that to happen.” Grabbing your wrist he drags you through the streets.
“Did you just confess like that? Are you stupid?”
Sliding his hand off your arm, he rests it in your smaller hands.
“Sue me.”
—
Yet, you selfishly took that opportunity for your own gain, letting him do everything after that day, and you hate yourself for it.
Haah what a terrible day.
Tears escape your eyes as you spew excuses for why you need to do this. “I- I just can’t, I love you so much, but I’m a burden, I don’t pay for anything and I never pay you back! You do everything.” Hiccuping and wiping your tears, you whine out more empty reasons.
“I’m selfish for letting you think I am good enough for you to like me. That day I shou- I should’ve told y-“ “look at me y/n”
please don’t hate me.
“You are breaking up with me because of how I take care of you?”
“Y/n, are you stupid?”
Slowly lowering your face, you meet his gaze. He’s still smiling, just much softer this time.
“I don’t know what made you feel this way.” Why is he still so nice? “But I like doing those things, even before we got together.” Exhaling, he reaches to both sides of your face. Wiping your tears with his thumbs, he continues, “I didn’t intended to make you feel like a burden, I just like seeing you with the things I got you.” “I never had some one as special as you, so please… don’t leave because I only want you.”
His delicate tone and how gentle he is only makes you cry harder.
Pulling you close, he places his lips to yours, “when you have doubts about your worth, remember that I know how important you are to me.”
“Because, y/n. I have no doubts with you.”
“Sooo are we still going? ‘Cause really wanna see you wearing those clothes.”
“Shut up idiot.”
I wish i could read my work from a different brain, so I could make it make sense. Sorry for the goofy writing.

FALLOUT: CURIE
CHAPTER ONE: IGUANA FIREFIGHTERS
A spin-off web novel by Youssef Hegazy
As the sun rose to the top over the desolate wasteland, the outskirts of Washington came into view. Once a thriving capital city, it was in ruins, a mere shadow of its former self. The streets were littered with debris and remnants of buildings that have long since crumbled. A sense of eerie silence hung in the air, broken only by the distant sound of scavenging creatures, bullets echoing, and the occasional gust of wind.
Guard posts surrounded the area standing tall on a hill, every few meters there was one, the dusty skies spoke in moans and groans on what once was the world before, as an old man on his death bed reminiscing about the old days, some would think that this land was forsaken by God a long time ago.
“Bogie, 30” square to the right of that stop sign” “Affirmative, I got’em”
Up one of the guard posts stationed on the top of the hill, two men kept peeled eyes on the landscape before them, broken roads, rusty hunks of steel and engines resting on all sides, and a traveler, with an eyebot keeping them company.
“One female, early 20s, no weapons visible, one eyebot, doesn’t seem hostile.” “Roger, count that in, keep an eye on them.”
Edwin Blutarch was a seasoned sniper hired by Camp Leaf as one of the guards, some patrol on the ground, he and his spotter, Jacob, on the other hand, keep it tight on top of that decrepit wooden tower surrounded by barbed wires.
“Doesn’t seem like a threat to me…I think she’s just passing by..” “What if she’s a spy? maybe a scout for some gunners or something...”
If ordered to fire, it wouldn’t be Edwin’s first time pulling the trigger on an unsuspecting soul, many people died on these roads, some didn’t deserve it, but he wouldn’t know, to him, a good soldier follows orders, and orders are what brought him peace in this world.
Through the scope attached to his semi-automatic combat rifle resting on the wooden floor of their post, Edwin saw a young woman walking cheerfully with a large backpack, a weirdly warm smile on her face beneath the bangs of her short black hair her eyes looked at the sky with the fascination of a child, she was humming to herself something, seems like the eyebot hovering around her was playing her a song she enjoyed, it echoed throughout the dead silence of the area.
Her glimmering smile, her dreaming eyes, and the subtle way she moved and swung in excitement when the song beat rose, the closer she got, the louder the instruments echoed, it seemed like a rhythm and blues kind of song, then Jacob looked at his left leaving his binoculars for a moment to check on their radio if it worked, seems like the festive fever has caught up with the man. “If Commander Sandler hears Three Dog howling from our post again, he’ll make us sleep with the Brahmin..” “Eddy, please…don’t bring his mother into this…”
Jacob turned back to adjust the radio frequency to Galaxy News, random chatter and mostly white noise filled the post, Edwin followed the traveler with his scope step by step, he couldn’t get his eye off of her and the eyebot, his mind was flooded with nostalgia, warmth, soon guilt, grief started stabbing his heart, the shotgun shell he took in the chest in DC didn’t hurt as much as what he felt at that moment, still…he just couldn’t stop himself from looking at her.
“I think the radio’s busted…no good..gotta borrow one from Freddy later…” “I don’t think “borrow” is the right word…” “Your back still sore from that time? I told you old lady Guinness wouldn’t give us that pie.” “yeah, and you stole it, and somehow! I got caught up in your bullshit.” “And I am the bad guy? I am bustin’ my ass up here with you! And I haven’t eaten since breakfast, and I all had was iguana bits!”
“You thank God up in heaven for those bits, I told you Margret was bad news!” “She and her dad can kiss my ass, that guy can’t cook for shit anyway.” “Well here you are hungry for that meat like a cheerleader with her boyfriend’s football team, also I couldn’t help but notice you bringing a lot of behind stuff into your words, I don’t know what you’re into, but keep it away from me, please.” “Well, you learn to share your food!” “Well, you think twice before flirting with the mess guy’s daughter!”
“Oxide 1, Derpy, and Sector 4, action spotted on the eastern front, how copy? over.” A third voice shouted through the intercom strapped on the men’s military rags, a distressed speaker tried his hardest to sound stoic and calm.
“Derpy, action spotted on the eastern front, how copy?! over…”
“Roger that, Covenant, sending in, over.”
With their fiery red exoskeletons and venomous stingers, fire ants crawled from beneath the sand and rocks and struck the traveler and her eyebot companion, their mandibles were sharp as razors, capable of tearing through flesh and bone with ease, and it wasn’t long before the young woman was shooting at them with an automatic laser gun, sparks of bright red flew all over with fire breath from the ants constructed a spectacle in the area, the eyebot flying across shooting the ants with its built-in laser blaster. Jacob looked at the fire erupting from the monstrosities and then looked into his binoculars again. “Wind, left to right.” “Got it, locked on.”
“Send it” A 45 bullet blasted through the muzzle with a large bang hitting a fire ant just above the mandible. “Bullseye!” A hot bullet casing flew from the receiver, as Edwin readjusted from recoil.
“Bogie, the girl’s 3 o'clock!”
“Locked on!”
“Send it!”
Another bullet flew to hit the ant just on the ocelli, then he realized that the snipers from the neighboring towers were finishing off the swarm, one of the ants was speeding to the woman’s back and about to jump on her from behind, but the eyebot was busy finishing off another with her, Edwin fires without preparation and the shot lands right next to the ant’s left leg, causing a gush of dirt to cover it from his sight.
NO!”
An ominous guitar riff echoed across the field amidst the chaos followed by a .44 magnum bullet flying off taking the attacking ant’s entire head with it, the shot came from nowhere, and the puzzled sniper looked around searching for the gunman but to no avail.
“...Did you hear that??”
Jacob looked momentarily at his fellow guard and then looked back through the binoculars, the ants were almost wiped out, but one last ant was breathing fire relentlessly at the eyebot, as the laser blaster kept firing at it, the young woman shot a plethora of laser shots at the ant before it finally crumbled, the fire was still on the eyebot, turning it insane, it hovered around aimlessly, low and high, hitting the ground beneath it and then rising again producing clouds of sand with how fast it rotated around itself.
“Aww…this ain’t good..” “SHOOT IT DOWN!”
Edwin immediately aims at the flanking robot out of control in hopes of dropping it from the air, one shot, misses, another land on its front speaker, then it turns sideways, the relief the two felt was short-lived as it flew all the way in their direction, it disappeared from their sight for a split second before the entire tower is shock with fire and a blast wave hits them, they both spectated with wide-open eyes as they fell down the hill filed with steel barbed wires and sharp rocks.
“Oh SHI-”

Relationship HC’s <3
Sorry but you would have to be probably one of the most insufferable couples of all time /j HEHEHEHEHE (not really ily 😽)
But the way you guys would start out teasing sooo cute, doesn’t matter if you’re in public because it’s Tooru, so of course he’ll find some way to tease you n bug you just a little
Until you’ve had enough and bite back, and next thing you know you’re both full blown bullying each other and bickering while everyone else around you puts up with it </3
Tooru 100% tugs on the hairs at the nape of your neck to piss you off
SORRY BUT HE DOES
He finds it so cute when you get upset plus he totally has twerp energy to me idc
But he is also so so so soft with you
Even if he likes to tease, his hands always find a way to touch you and caress you softly no matter the situation
Hands resting on your hips or caressing your face while you kiss, pinky finger interlocked with yours while you’re out watching a movie, fingers messing with yours while either of you tell an intriguing story, etc.
He’s just such a tender lover and can’t help but always touch you soft and keep you close :(!
He is also the biggest brat when you ignore him
It’s silly and funny and cute for .000284929 seconds before he’s had enough and gets an attitude and a little whiny and tries pushing your buttons in various ways to get your attention back on him
But you have to give him so much love after cause he will overthink and get a little sad if it goes on for too long <///3
You guys have so many inside jokes it pisses other people off LOL
Until someone points out how kind of sickeningly cute it is n then you’re both 😕 and put that shit on hold in public for a little while 😭
Extremely considerate and aware of your social battery and how you’re being treated by his company always
He isn’t one to let the company he keeps make you uncomfortable in any way and will say something in private to you and anyone else that needs to be talked to to make sure one, it doesn’t happen again, and two, you don’t feel guilty or embarrassed for him saying something
He’s also always checking in with you in little ways
Talking softer to you to see if you’re still having a good time
Bringing you into conversations and laughing alongside you to make sure you don’t feel left out
And the moment you let him know you’re ready to go home so is he 🤍 he might take a little time to say goodbye just because of the way he is and the way he wants to make sure he’s said goodbye to everyone, but he always wants to make it clear your feelings are a priority because they are <3!
And when I tell you I just know you guys had the most painful slow burn ever… good lord
He’s insecure and you can’t handle being up front and telling him you like him so!! God only knows how long it took one of you to be direct and honest /t
It was cute though and totally worth it when you finally had that first date and Tooru couldn’t hide the way he was smiling like a fool when he knew every time you dismissed his affectionate and playfully gooey remarks you didn’t actually mean it, you were just like him and almost didn’t know what to do with genuine romance 🤍
He’s so cute in the mornings it’s SICK
Calm and quiet and moves a little slow, runs his hands all over your torso and kisses the side of your face gentle before he asks how you slept
N it’s every morning, he’s this sweet and soft without fail every time he gets to wake up next to you and it’s not like he’s trying to make you feel tender and shy on purpose! He’s just a gentle and careful lover <3
———
I HOPE THIS SUFFICES AFTER SUCH A WAIT 😭😭😭😭 MWWWWAH BABY ILY

“Doesn't this seem like a bit much?”
“This is what Christmas is all about! Can't you feel it?”
“You guys, where are we? I think we should go back.”
“Serves them right, those Yuletide-loving sickly-sweet, nog-sucking cheer mongers!”
“I really don't like them. No, I don't.”
“I've been much too tolerant of these (Whovenile) delinquents and their innocent, victimless pranks.”
“So, they want to get to know me, do they?”
“I guess I could use a little social interaction.”
“Yeah, you bet. Ho, ho, ho, and stuff…”
“You see, [name]? The city is a dangerous place.”
“Now, please, don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.”
“Well, it's just, I look around at you and [Mom] and everyone getting all kerbobbled. Doesn't this seem...superfluous?”
“I think they were up on the mountain playing with matches, or defacing public property, or....”
“Take a look at his mailbox, (sweetie). Not a single Christmas card, in or out… Ever!”
“And for the rest of you: Jury duty! Jury duty! Jury duty! Blackmail. Pink slip. Chain letter. Eviction notice. Jury duty!”
“Well, that worked out nicely.”
“[Max], let's go. Our work here is finished.”
“Don't you know you shouldn't take things that don't belong to you? What's your problem? Are you a wild animal?”
“Saving you? Is that what you think I was doing? Wrong-o.”
“You've been practicing your Christmas wrapping! I am so proud of you.”
“My, I've never seen so many beautiful Christmas lights, [Betty Lou!]”
“It's handcrafted and almost 100 years old.”
“Come on, hurry up, Slowpoke.”
“What's that stench? It's fantastic!”
“One man's toxic sludge is another man's potpourri.”
“Did Christmas change or just me?"
“First floor, factory rejects.”
“But we did our worst. And that's all that matters.”
“At least I scared the bejeebles out of that little [girl] at the post office. [She]'ll be scarred for life, if we're lucky.”
“Funny she didn't rat on us, though. Must be afraid of reprisals.”
“If you utter so much as one syllable I'll hunt you down and gut you like a fish!”
“I've got all the company I need right here.”
“I'm an idiot!”
“You're an idiot!”
“Am I just eating because I'm bored?”
“In your own words, please tell me everything you know about [the Grinch.]”
“Hey, honey, our baby is here! He looks just like your boss.”
“It was Christmas Eve, and a strange wind blew that night.”
“Do you want a Christmas cookie?”
“Don't forget, tomorrow is our big Christmas gift exchange.Everyone bring a special gift for a special someone.”
“You don't have a chance with [her].”
“It was a horrible day when they were so cruel to [him]. And I could hardly bear it.”
“And that was the last time we ever saw [him]. The very last time.”
“I hate you.Hate, hate, hate. Hate, hate, hate. Double hate. Loathe entirely!”
“Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!”
“I may do something drastic.”
“You made that up! It doesn't say that.”
“But the book does say: The cheer-meister is the one who deserves a back slap or a toast. And it goes to the soul at Christmas who needs it most."
“Blast this Christmas music. It's joyful and triumphant.”
“The impudence! The audacity! The unmitigated gall!”
“You called down the thunder now, get ready for the boom!”
“Gaze into the face of fear!”
“You see? Even now the terror is welling up inside you.”
“Run for your life before I kill again!”
“Maybe you need a time-out.”
“Kids today. So desensitized by movies and television.”
“"Holiday Whobie-what-y"?”
“I know you hate Christmas, but what if it's all just a misunderstanding?”
“I myself am having some Yuletide doubts.”
“Award? You never mentioned an award!”
“Was anyone emotionally shattered?”
“Come on, a minute ago I couldn't shut you up! Details, details!”
“I don't know if it's that adorable twinkle in your eye or that nonconformist streak that reminds me of a younger, less hairy me.”
“Who knows? This Whobilation could change my entire outlook on life!”
“You can make snow angels later.”
“The nerve of those (Whos). Inviting me down there on such short notice. Even if I wanted to go, my schedule wouldn't allow it.”
“4:00, wallow in self-pity. 4:30, stare into the abyss. 5:00, solve world hunger tell no one. 5:30, jazzercise. 6:30, dinner with me… I can't cancel that again. 7:00, wrestle with my self-loathing… I'm booked! If I bumped the loathing to 9:00, I'd have time to lay in bed stare at the ceiling and slip slowly into madness.”
“It's not a dress, it's a kilt! Sicko!”
“This is ridiculous. If I can't find something nice to wear, I'm not going! That's it, I'm not going.”
“Ohh, ahh, mmm… That's it, I'm not going.”
“[He] isn't here. What? [He] didn't show? Who could have predicted this?
“All right. I'll swing by for a minute, allow them to envy me grab a handful of popcorn shrimp, and blow out of there.”
“But what if it's a cruel prank? What if it's a cash bar? How dare they!”
“All right, I'll go. But I'll be fashionably late.”
“All right. I've made my decision! I'm going, and that's that!”
“Come on, while I'm young!”
“But first, a little family reunion.”
“Are you two still living?”
“Sweater? What are you talkin' about? No, I can't! I can't do that!”
“No. I can't do it, honestly. I'm not ready. It's too much, too soon!”
“I've got a lawyer. There'll be hell to pay!”
“Look at the time. I really should be getting back.”
“Bring it on! Is that all you got? Is that all you got? Come on!”
“That's what it's all about, isn't it? That's what it's always been about!”
“Look, I don't want to make waves, but this whole Christmas season is stupid, stupid, stupid!”
“There is, however one teeny-tiny Christmas tradition I find quite meaningful. Mistletoe.”
“Burn, baby! Burn!”
“Evening, folks. Mind if I ride along? You might want to scooch over.”
“You fellas all right? How about a nice hat?”
“I'm hurt, [Lou]. I'm hurt, and I don't hurt easily.”
“But you and your family.... I'm so disappointed.”
“I just wanted everybody to be together for Christmas.”
“Suffering snorkelblatz! They're relentless!”
“Oh, no. I'm speaking in rhyme!”
“I must stop this whole thing. Why for year after year I've put up with it now.”
“Are you having a holly, jolly Christmas? Wrong-o!”
“If you're not going to help me then you might as well…”
“You're as cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel.”
“Just face the music, you're a monster.”
“Your heart's an empty hole.”
“I asked for three-quarters, not five-eighths. Stay focused!”
“Air bag is a little slow. But that's what these tests are for!”
“Talk about a recluse. He only comes out once a year, and he never catches any flak for it!”
“Probably lives up there to avoid the taxes.”
“No, forget that part. We'll improvise.”
“Saving Christmas was a lousy ending. Way too commercial.”
“We're gonna die! We're gonna die! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm gonna die!”
“[Mommy], tell it to stop!”
“Almost lost my cool there.”
“It's Santa! Go right back to sleep.”
“[He]'s planning a double-twisting interrupted forward-flying 2-and-a-half with a combo tuck and pike. High degree of difficulty.”
“Blasted water weight! Goes right to my hips.”
“Okay, fellas. Show time.”
“[Mr. Santa], what are you doing with our tree?”
“[Santa], what's Christmas really about?”
“I know [he]'s mean and hairy and smelly. [His] hands might be cold and clammy. But I think [he]'s actually kind of sweet.”
“Nice kid. Bad judge of character.”
“Clearance sale. Everything must go.”
“That wasn't so bad, was it, [Max]?”
“What an embarrassment! I've been robbed!”
“I wonder who could have done this.”
“But did anyone listen to me? No.”
“[Cindy], I hope you're very proud of what you've done.”
“You're glad. You're glad everything is gone. You're glad that [the Grinch] virtually wrecked.... No, not wrecked, pulverized Christmas. Is that what I'm hearing?”
“You can't hurt Christmas, [Mr. Mayor], because it isn't about the gifts or the contests or the fancy lights. That's what [Cindy]'s been trying to tell everyone! And me. [She]'s been trying to tell me.”
“What's wrong with you? This is a child!”
“[She]'s my child. And she happens to be right, by the way.”
“I don't need anything more for Christmas than this right here, my family!”
“Now for the final note in my symphony of downright nasty not-niceness! The crescendo of my odious opus! The wailing and the gnashing of teeth. The bellowing of the bitterly bummed out! It'll be like music to my ears!”
“Somehow or other, it came Just the same!”
“How could it be so? It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
“Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
“Help me! I'm feeling!”
“What's happening to me? I'm all toasty inside. And I'm leaking?”
“All right, that's enough! Knock it off! beat it! Get out of here! One step at a time!
“Wait! This can't happen! It shouldn't! It couldn't! It mustn't! It wouldn't! Not now, not then, not ever again!”
“What are you doing up there!?”
“I came to see you. No one should be alone on Christmas.”
“I got you, [Cindy Lou]!”
“Are you kiddin'? The sun is bright and the powder's bitchin'!”
“Now scoot over! It's my turn to drive!”
“Now you listen to me, [young] [lady]! Even if we're horribly mangled there'll be no sad faces on Christmas.”
“By the way, these lights match your outfit perfectly.”
“This could be more difficult to negotiate.”
“Out of the way! I have no insurance!”
“Run for your lives! Watch out, I can't stop!”
“Aren't you gonna cuff me? Put me in a choke hold? Blind me with pepper spray?”
“Sorry but my heart belongs to someone else.”
“Cheer up, dude. It's Christmas.”
“There's nothin' like the holidays.”
“Too late! That'll be mine.”

Miraculous fic recomendations!!
This is just an excuse to show all my bookmarks? Yes. Yes, it is. I'm pretty sure most of this fics are really popular, but try see if you find something you didn't knew about!
All of the fics will be rated Teen and up audiences or lower. Also if I don't put the author's tumblr is because they didn't put it in the fic or/and I couldn't find it.
Pairing: Adrien Agreste | Chat Noir/Marinette Dupain-Cheng | Ladybug
knowing you by emsylcatac (they are not really the author of the fic but that's the account that says in the fic, the actual author doesn't have an account).
After dropping their transformations months ago, Marinette and Adrien see each other for the first time after being apart. They've both left too much unsaid and have to work to pick up the pieces of their confused hearts.
Chapters: 1/1
Post-reveal but mostly ladynoir, light angst with happy ending.
the last day on earth by Reiaji
The first time Marinette sees Chat Blanc, she's fourteen years old. The second time, fifteen—the third time, seventeen.
The closer she grows to Adrien, the harder it is to save him.
Chapters: 1/1
Post-reveal lovesquare, kinda heavy angst, hopeful ending.
tell me something i don't know by carpisuns (@carpisuns here on tumblr)
Do you think it still means something? To love someone, even if the universe said you had to?
The odds of having a soulmate are about negative one billion (or something like that). But somehow, like they always have, Marinette and Chat Noir find themselves together. They’re ready to finally tell each other everything, but it turns out that even soulmates have to keep secrets, and while their bond draws them together, duty forces them apart.
Chapters: currently 17/28 (WIPs can be exhausting but this one is 100% worth the wait!)
Mostly marichat but almost all of the lovesquare sides make an appearance, soulmates au, mostly fluff but it can get angsty if it wants to.
One Thing After Another by SKayLanphear
Marinette notices that, sometimes, Adrien acts a little out of the ordinary--like the time he stood in a cardboard box for no reason, or when he actually hissed at Nino. It's only when she starts to notice the similarities between Adrien and a certain feline that she begins to get suspicious.
Basically, Adrien acts like a cat when he probably shouldn't.
Chapters: 15/15
Mostly adrienette with one sided reveal by Marinette's side, miraculous side effects (by both sides wich is really cool!), it's fluff with a lil tiny angst for drama.
This would take some getting used to by Codango (@codango here on tumblr!)
Adrien peeked out from behind the chimney even as the magic of his own Chat Noir mask fell away.
She was still visible, her dark hair bobbing under the street lamps a couple blocks away.
“Marinette.”
Adrien blew out a confused breath. His fiery Ladybug… was the quiet little mouse who sat behind him in class?
“What. The.”
This… would take some getting used to.
Chapters: 8/8
Adrienette with one sided reveal by Adrien's part, awkward flirting, just fluff, nothing to worry about.
comfort food also by Reiaji!
In Marinette's house, cooking is a language of love, and Marinette loves Adrien more than most.
Chapters: 1/1
Adrienette with a little of ladynoir, super super fluff, a lot of insight into Marinette's chinese heritage.
The right side of his face by walkingonthestars (@hamsternamedmarinette here on tumblr!)
Marinette and Adrien are able to remain in their new seats in the back of the room at the end of Chameleon.
Chapters: 1/1
Adrienette, fluff with light angst.
it's a long way forward so trust in me by aloneintherain (@captainkirkk here on tumblr!)
“You’re not the only strong one around here, Chat,” Marinette said. She looked a little winded, but she wasn’t struggling to hold him up.
This close up, he could see the freckles on the bridge of her nose. He could see how that smug smile lit up her eyes. He could feel the strain of her arms—and wow, okay, he really wasn’t the only person around here with muscles.
Six times Marinette carried Adrien (plus one time he carried her).
Chapters: 1/1
All the sides of the lovesquare! Fluff with LOTS of mutual pining.
a fight that you were born to lose also by aloneintherain
When the prosecution starts throwing around the word victim in reference to Adrien, he has to stuff his hands under his thighs to keep himself from bolting out of the courtroom.
Adrien had felt unsafe during those last few weeks, but, until he had woken up and seen Father silhouetted in his bedroom doorway, that had only been paranoia. Father was controlling and cold, but he wasn’t hateful. Adrien was isolated. He was often hungry. And some weeks ago, when he had snuck out to visit Nino, sitting thigh-to-thigh on his bed while Adrien cried in that silent, crumbling way of his, he hadn’t argued when Nino put a hand on his shoulder and said, tentatively, That’s abuse.
But Adrien remembers being small and Father touching his hair after he’d aced another test; Father holding his scribbled drawings like they were something precious, and framing them around his office; Father, dressed as Hawkmoth, his eyes wild behind the mask, lashing his sword against Adrien’s baton; Father, collapsed against Mum, crying into her ashy hair.
Adrien finds out Gabriel is Hawkmoth, and Gabriel gets to bring his long-waited plan into action.
Chapters: 1/1
This one doesn't really focus in the ship that much as is an Adrien character study and an exploration of his relationship with his father, but they're still there so I put them here. Really heavy angst (this is one of this fics that haunt me in the middle of the night) with a happy ending. ❗TW: parental abuse, eating disorders❗
Supercut by LNC
Marinette loves her friends and Adrien can't deal.
Chapters: 1/1
Post-reveal lovesquare, again light angst, an exploration of Adrien's insecurities, Marinette Dupain-Cheng deserves the world, happy ending.
Madame Snare by jettiebettie
“Sounds like a lot of work for nothing. She should take this as a sign to have a relaxing weekend with no responsibilities.”
“It's a lot of work she put her whole heart into. It wouldn't be right for it to go to waste,” Adrien whispers to him. The look on Marinette's face is enough to cause Adrien's own heart to ache. If anyone deserves the satisfaction and pride from a job well done, it's her.
“Too bad there isn't anyone else who can walk in those death traps,” Plagg says. Adrien hums in thought, tapping his chin.
“I could.”
Chapters: 1/1
Marichat, episode-based, Chat Noir in a dress!!!, light angst but it's mostly just idiots being idiots and a lot of fun.
in the same sun by peachcitt (@peachcitt here on tumblr!)
"It’s hard to believe that I saw you last at the peak of summer, when the sun was close and warm - and so were you. It should go without saying that I miss you. I miss you something terrible."
//
"It’s been seven months to the day since I’ve seen you. I wish you were here more than anything else."
Two letters, signed with initials instead of names, found in Paris, France.
Chapters: 1/1
Ladynoir, just angst, that's it, written like letters. No ending, just pain.
an uncurtain discovery by Missnoodles (@ladyofthenoodle here on tumblr!)
When he returns from school on Wednesday afternoon, Adrien discovers the darkness in his own home. He struggles to come to terms with it. To his utter mortification and delight, Ladybug is nearby to rescue him.
(He does not discover that his father is supervillain. That will happen on a different Wednesday.)
Chapters: 1/1
Ladrien, it says it's crack, and don't get me wrong, is super funny, but I also found it sad as fuck?
An Open Secret by Kasienda
Adrien whirled around toward Marinette. She smiled at him.
He couldn’t smile back. He stared at her like the dumb blond model that he was often accused of being.
Something shifted in her expression. And her warm open Marinette smile transformed into Ladybug’s grin. He was looking at Ladybug right now.
He knew Ladybug’s name!
Her name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
And he couldn’t say anything! Not to Marinette! Not even to Plagg, who had confided two weeks prior that Master Fu was growing increasingly paranoid since the location of his home and hideout had been compromised. Their master had apparently decided that Chat Noir and Ladybug would have to give up their miraculouses if they ever discovered each other’s identities.
It wasn’t fair!
...
A fic where they both know, but can't openly talk about it.
Chapters: 4/4
Post-reveal... but is it? Mostly adrienette and ladynoir, fluff with light angst and them being absolute idiots at hiding their secret identity.
golden (like daylight) by okayanna (@anna-scribbles here on tumblr!)
Friendship, Adrien decided, shaking off the mental image of Marinette’s hurricane eyes and hesitant mouth, parted in a small, careful “o.” He had a very strong friendship with Marinette. That was all.
or
Adrien thinks a lot about words, love, and Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Chapters: 1 + epilogue
Adrienette but has lots of ladynoir, another Adrien character study because I hate myself, it tries to not be angst but the writing will punch you in the guts and make you cry, it's so good.
Strangers in the Bright Lights by poodles (@ladybeug here on tumblr!)
Adrien is about two drinks in when he sees a girl at the end of the bar wearing black cat ears. It's kind of weird, so he watches her, and although it's crowded he can see her face when she turns around. She’s wearing a Chat Noir mask. He takes a quick look around- nobody else is wearing a mask. Just her.
Adrien finishes his gin martini and heads over to her. He could use some company tonight anyways, he hasn’t told anyone he’s back in Paris and Nathalie won’t arrive in town for another month. And it’s been a rough day, okay? A rough move! He’s not sure he wants to be back yet, and he spent most of the day in the Agreste mansion sorting through some photographs of his father he found in the study. Maybe he wants a drink and some stranger to tell him he’s pretty! That’s not a crime, is it?
Chapters: 1/1
Adrienette but it's also ladrien??? I think??? It's super super angsty but they're both drunk the entirety of the fic so it's also really funny.
Pick-Up and Chase by also SKayLanphear
After she accidentally trips into Adrien and apologizes about "falling for him," Marinette learns that he's no match for cheesy pick-up lines--whether they were unintended or not. And while she finds it flattering that he turns into a flustered mess with only a few words, Marinette comes to regret making him uncomfortable. That is, until she learns he's Chat Noir. At which point the phrase "just deserts" becomes a permanent fixture in her everyday plans.
A story in which Adrien is flustered, Marinette is smooth as glass at dropping lines, and Chat Noir gets the romance he was always asking for--even if he doesn't quite know how to handle it.
Chapters: 10/10
Adrienette with one sided reveal by Marinette's side, it doesn't say it in the tags but I'm pretty sure the characters are much older than they actually are in the show, so much fluff and so much flirting.
Pairing: Alya Césaire/Nino Lahiffe
Nino Has Done Nothing To Deserve This by GuardianKarenTerrier (@guardiankarenterrier here in tumblr)
It's nothing, really- just an innocent comment, a joke. But when they hear it, Nino and Alya come to a realisation.
There were, in retrospect, dozens upon dozens of hints. Now that they're suddenly aware of all their friend's flimsy excuses and rushed explanations, they're not only sure how they've missed it, they're not sure how anyone else has either. They realise that it had to be magic protecting their friends- and that same magic has ceased to work on the two of them.
Well, this means they'll just have to start watching over their friends themselves.
Chapters: 7/7
This is more a found family fic than anything else, Alya and Nino are the mom friend, has light angst but it's mostly identity shenanigans in the most bizarre way. ❗TW: eating disorders❗
christmas lights by demistories
Nino checks up and down the street, checking to make sure there’s no raging akuma headed his way before he crosses quickly and ducks inside the small café. He closes the door quickly before the icy air can blow inside and tugs his beanie down over his ears. He spots Alya sitting alone in the corner.
Chapters: 1/1
Just fluff!! Really short but really sweet.
hold on, i still want you also by Missnoodles!
Written for the @thedjwifizine ! Wich I also recommend if you wanna binge a lot of djwifi fics while also looking at amazing art!!!
Five times Alya ran into her ex, and the one time he stopped being her ex.
Chapters: 1/1
Light angst with a happy ending! I don't really like the ex-lovers to lovers trope but this one is the only exception.
I will continue to expand the list in the future! But by now I hope I was helpful in the search of new fics!

Hi Dove 💕 I know I request a lot lol but I can’t stop thinking about an insomniac f reader who suffers from nightmares. Zoro notices and they end up figuring out (you decide how) that when she sleeps next to him or in his arms she doesn’t get nightmares. They’re crushing, but each thinks the other only sees them as a best friend / are sacred of ruining the friendship. Even though they’re both definitely flustered about the sleeping, they start making a habit of it. (“It’s not like that ero-cook, I’m just helping her rest!”) SFW or spicy, whatever you’re feeling 😌
Hey Soph! I flipping love all your requests so much. When I tell you I scream any time I see you in my inbox. The prompt made me so excited of course I had to include that in as well!!!! I also decided on SFW since it has felt like a lifetime since I’ve done one of those. Okay I will admit I did have a little trouble with this one; too many ideas floating around but I finally think I got it out. Just like a bunch of little scenarios that kind of lead to the ending. I hope you’re doing well and I hope you enjoy! And of course I made it as long as possible because you deserve the best 💗

Your eyes flickered around the room through the dark. Slivers of the moon casted through the room lighting up the beds of the navigator and archeologist either side of you. You sat up to get a better view of the room to ground yourself. You had woken up from yet another nightmare that left you anxious and sweaty. Usually, you would scream yourself awake, notifying the others of the nightmare but tonight was not the case. You were relieved. It was hard to explain to anybody how you were feeling; overwhelmed by your past, leaving you insomniac and tired almost all the time. When you did manage to sleep, however, your dreams would taunt you of horrid memories, reliving through your past again. You got up, deciding to go venture outside for some air. Tonight your best friend was on night watch, which was an added bonus, giving you another motive to venture out into the cold.
You cracked open the door to the deck, a cold wind smacking you across the face, almost relieving the overbearing sweat that clung to your body. You tiptoed over the iced floor and attempted your best to climb up to the crows nest as quick as you could. Once in, your eyes locked on the sleeping swordsman in the corner of the room. “So much for night watch” you rolled your eyes, approaching your friend. You bent down to his eye level, chuckling at the light snores vibrating his nostrils. You had always found the man in front of you quite beautiful. More beautiful than anyone you ever knew. He could come off as quite brute at first but once he was comfortable with you, he had this layer of warmth to him. You always knew you’d be safe with him. There was no doubt about it; if he cared about you he would risk his life to keep you safe. There was also no doubt about your feelings for him. He was your best friend but also someone you wanted more than that; you wanted to be with him. Be in love with him without fear. You just didn’t want to ruin your friendship. You knew he didn’t feel the same as you.
You brushed the loose strands of green hair out of his eye gently, being careful not to wake him, admiring his peaceful expression. “The hell do you think you’re doing, tiny?” He mumbled, clearly awake. You huffed at the nickname; you were only a foot shorter than him. “Couldn’t sleep, I thought you might like the company”. His grey eye finally opened, fluttering a few times before casting on you. His eye was a beautifully warm grey, reminding you of the way the moon danced across the sky. “This has been happening a lot this week. A lot more than usual” he stretched, readjusting himself as you sat down in front of him. You nodded in agreement. Usually it would only happen once or twice a week, but this week had you awake every night thus far. “I don’t know why” you admitted, frustration laced in your words. “I’m so tired all the time but when I try and sleep I just…” “you just remember”. Again, you nodded. He seemed to be the only person who understood. With anyone else Zoro would tell them to get over it or not think about it, but with you it was different. He felt different.
Zoro lovingly watched you. Your beautiful soft eyes were heavy from lack of sleep, long dark eyelashes framing them in a fluttering motion. He could tell you were struggling to stay awake, but also knew how tiresome and unfair sleep was to you. He would do anything he could to keep you safe and hated that this was something he couldn’t. He was so madly in love with you but knew, especially after Kuina, he couldn’t ruin any female friendships. He couldn’t risk loosing you too.
You yawned, your eyes growing weak as you tried to focus on the swordsman in front of you. As much as you wanted to stay awake and avoid your nightmares, your body was fading fast and Zoro could tell. “Oi, maybe you should go back to bed. You know I will be here all night if you need me” he offered, attempting to hold you up; his hand out on your arm. “Mmm in a little bit I just want to sit here and talk” you murmured, groggily, your eyes fluttering shut. Zoro sighed, adjusting your next to him against the edge of the bench, propping you up. “What? Do you want me to tell you a bedtime story or something?” he smirked, watching as you slid down onto his shoulder. You mumbled what sounded like a ‘no’ which he appreciated; he wasn’t very good at telling stories. He watched as your snuggled into him, admiring how peaceful you looked on him, your arms wrapped around his biceps. After a while he realised you were asleep, adjusting you in his arm; to keep you safe. He turned back to the window, watching the choppy sea that surrounded the ship, praying that it would rock you into a sweet slumber of peace.
You woke up, snuggling into the blanket that surrounded you, the soft fabric keeping you warm from the chill blasting through the window. You felt a light squeeze around you, keeping you in tact where you were, easing your to snugging further into your hidden space. You started opening you eyes, fluttering them gently to get a better view of your room. The girls room. Or so you thought. Your eyes locked with the workout equipment sprawled out in the corner of the crows nest, usually arranged by Zoro.
Zoro?
You lifted your head up, feeling what you now recognised as a strong arm around your waist. Zoro sat above you, his eyes already open, looking out the window of the crows nest to the sea; still on watch. You were lying on his chest, his strong body guarding your frail one, like you were under attack. Which you usually were in your sleep. But not that night. Not in his arms. You pushed up, sitting up against him, rubbing your eyes from sleep. He adjusted himself, giving you space to stretch out, his strong arms leaving your body to prop himself up. You let out a feeble yawn, adjusting to the sound of Sanji down below screaming at everyone to come to the kitchen for breakfast. Zoro patted your shoulder, rising from the bench, stretching out his back, waiting for you to join him back down to the deck. You followed him out, ignoring his chatter as your mind wondering to your sleep. How good of a sleep it was. Surely it was a one off, you thought.
———————————————
The following nights your stayed put in your bed, restlessly turning as the hours dragged on. You thought back to the night up in the crows nest wondering what had made you sleep so peacefully. You automatically crossed out the idea being related to Zoro; knowing from sleeping near him before that he wasn’t the cause. You envied the girls either side of you; not knowing how they managed to sleep so easily. They both had horrible pasts, ones of terror and pain, yet they always drifted off to sleep within minutes of their heads hitting the pillow. Your body felt agitated, restless, like you needed to move. Springing out of bed, you made your way to the kitchen, hoping a cup of tea would sooth your racing mind. As you made your way over, you noticed the glare of light shining through the peephole window, giving rise to someone who was already awake. You shrugged to yourself, not minding the late night company and walked inside. “Thought you’d might be roaming the ship at this hour” Zoro teased, his beautiful lopsided grin gracing his face. “Yeah, well, what are you doing here anyway? You’re not on night watch” you nodded up to the cyborgs silhouette in the glow from the moon in the crows nest. “Couldn’t sleep. I think I’m getting too used to staying away during the night” he mumbled. “Yeah? And what exactly are you doing instead?” Your eyes flicked down to the empty bottles in front of him. “Drinking? Again?” you rolled your eyes at him, taking the empty seat on his left “you have a serious problem, Zoro”. “Pfft, no I don’t” he scoffed, adjusting his body to look at you. “You’re an alcoholic I swear”. “I’ve got it under control”. “Yeah? Like the way I have my sleep under control?” “Ouch, a self dig. That’s brave of you”. You rolled your eyes again, making him chuckle as he opened his next drink “so, what made you come down here anyway?” “I came down here to get a drink”. He stopped drinking, gesturing the bottle over to you to take a sip from. “Not alcohol, idiot!” You pushed the bottle away “tea. You know, to calm myself for sleep”. “Huh” he chuckled “I find alcohol does the same effect. A lot more fun, too. You should drink it more”. You rose from your seat, grumbling on about him being an idiot, making him laugh as you walked over to make your drink. By the time you sat back down, drink cupped in your hands, Zoro had already down another two drinks. You sighed heavily, laughing as he grumbled something under his breath. You two talked for a while, sipping away at your drinks, the hazing effect starting to take its toll on the both of you. Slowly you began to droop over onto him, nudging into his arm as your eyes fluttered shut. Faint snores were heard above you, notifying that Zoro had beat you to the sleeping game, as you slowly drifted off to sleep against him.
You woke up sore and groggy, screams next to you echoing through your head. Again, you somehow managed to sleep through the rest of the night, despite waking in an uncomfortable position. You focused on the screaming, recognised the voices instantly; Sanji and Zoro. You snapped your eyes open to find them in a screaming match across the kitchen bench. It was still dark outside, specks of light trickling through the blanket of dark. It was time for Sanji to start cooking. You flickered your eyes between the two men, confused, their voices slowly becoming audible noises.
“What the hell, marimo! How dare you touch sweet (y/n)-swan!” Sanji barked, throwing his leg at him. “It’s not like that ero-cook, I’m just helping her rest!” Zoro threw back, blocking his attack, gripping his leg tightly. You grumbled loudly, alerting them you were awake; their eyes both flickering to you. Zoro dropped his foot, stepped towards you sheepishly “you’re awake?” “Yeah” you yawned, “hard not to be with the two of you yelling at each other”. Sanji slid over to you, taking your hands in his “my sweet (y/n)-swan! I do apologise for our behaviour. The way marimo was holding you was not appropriate”. His voice was sweetly thick, attempting to seem like he was defending you from Zoro. “Holding me?” you looked over at Zoro, confused. “Yes, he was holding you in his arms; against his chest”. Like the other night, you thought. “I can take care of it Sanji, but thank you” you reassured him, patting his arm. You dragged Zoro out of the kitchen, ignoring Sanji’s cries of unrequited love. “God, he’s just so-“ “you were holding me?” You questioned, cutting him off. He froze, looking down, his face casting over in a soft blush. He hesitated for a moment, stuttering some inaudible words. “Just forget about it, okay. It was nothing” he snapped, his face glowing red, turning away to the crows nest.
———————————————
The crew finally docked at their next destination; the wind blowing a gust from the top of the mountains. You shivered underneath your jacket, pulling your beanie down over your head tighter to keep warm. The crew has agreed to split up. Terrible idea really. One half would be collecting supplies for a fire for the night, the other in search for supplies for your next journey. Everyone collectively agreed Zoro would stay on the ship, keeping watch; afraid he would get lost at either mission. You were part of the group after supplies for your next journey, relieved you wouldn’t be searching the cold woods for dry branches and logs. Apart of your team consisted of Luffy, who had already hurdled over the side of the ship and out into the unknown. Nami; also part of your team, grabbed the other members, and dragged them down off the ship. She soon chases after him, screaming at him, the other members following after them both. You looked up at the ship, noticing the figure of your best friend peering over the side. He looked incredibly attractive, surprisingly, in his oversized jacket and beanie, swimming in a sea of green which blended into his moss coloured hair. You waved a quick goodbye to Zoro, which he return with a solid nod, and ran off after your crew mates, your shoes sinking fast through the snow.
You shivered, the cold temperature chilling to your bones, making it unbearably hard to move. You attempted to sit as close to the fire as possible, the faint calls from Chopper telling you you were too close stopping you from jumping into the inviting warmth. Zoro sat himself down next to you, alcohol grasped tightly in his grip. He gestured it over to you, the thick brown liquid swishing around the bottle “here; it will warm you up”. You cautiously took the bottle, pressing it to your lips, the liquid burning as it cascaded down your throat, warming your chest. You handed him back the bottle with a thanks, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand. The rest of the crew all sat around you both, but it felt like they were miles away. Whenever you were around Zoro, he always made you feel complete. Like you were the only two people to exist. A ball of snow came hurdling at you both, and you dodged it with a quick squeal. Usopp laughed on the other side of the fire, teasing the unflattering look on your face as you dodged his weapon. Zoro nudged you, his hands digging into the snow at his feet, packing it in a large circular sphere. He sent the ball flying back at Usopp, hitting him square in the face, puffs of snow littering the air around him. Luffy let out a loud bellow, collecting his own weakly packed snowball, declaring a snowball fight. You groaned, burying yourself into your knees, avoiding the collisions of snow that flew in the air around you. “Don’t worry”, Zoro patted your back “they don’t stand a chance against me”. You laughed into your knees, abruptly stopping when you heard the wet thwack of a snowball hitting someone, their body collapsing onto the floor. “Oops” Zoro mumbled, racing to collect himself his next ball.
Slowly, the crew left one by one, climbing into their associated bed; apart from Zoro on night watch. Again. You stayed with him, half to keep him company, half too stiff to move away from your only source of warmth. You let a yawn slip from your mouth, alerting Zoro of your status. It has been a few days since you had slept and the soft crackles of the fire mixed with the warm alcohol in your system was having its effect on you. Zoro smirked, watching you fight sleep, your body shaking from the cold; a dusting of pink tickling your cheeks and nose. He sat up, softly wrapping his arms around your torso. “Cmon, tiny” he pulled you up to him, resting you against his chest. You shivered, nuzzling yourself deeper into him, his arm encapsulating you in a safe haven. Your fingers balled into his jacket, attempting to get as close to him as you could; to bask in his warmth. He nudged you, allowing space for him to unzip his jacket, which you quickly took as an opportunity to let yourself into, burrowing yourself deep into the fabric. Your head lulled into his chest, creating the perfect place to rest. “Night, Zoro” you murmured, your hands digging into his shirt. He looked down, watching your face carefully, holding back what he wanted to say. If he was brave enough he would ask if you wanted to sleep with him like this; forever. He loved watching you be so peaceful in his arms all night. He loved the way you unconsciously snuggled into him, making cute little breathing sounds trying to get closer to him. He loved the way his arms fit around you, holding you to him, as if you were made just for him. Designed only for him to hold. “Night, tiny” He said instead, repressing any other answers he wished he would say.
———————————————
You collapsed in a heap on the deck, bruised and sore from your recent battle. The rest of your crew sat around you, all basking in the cool sea breeze that comforted the starry night; fading into pink of the early morning. You flattened the side of your face against the cool wooden deck, watching Luffy pick out bits of rubble from his hat. A foot playfully kicked at your side, shifting your attention from your captain. “Oh good you’re still alive” Zoro smirked, kneeling down to look at you properly “you can’t collapse onto the floor like that. You will send Chopper into a spin”. “That’s my plan” you teased, attempting to sit yourself up, groaning against your sore muscles. He chucked, extending out his hand to help you up, which you gladly took, allowing him to use his strength to pull up your weak body. He let out a deep yawn, which you mimicked unconsciously, both knowing what you were thinking. The battle had extended way beyond what anyone had thought, and now, in the early hours of the morning, everyone was feeling the blow. Chopper has already checked everyone over before entering the ship, leaving everyone to recover in their own way. The only way Zoro knew how to recover was sleep and by the way your eyes were lidding, you were thinking the same thing. You both headed off in the direction of your associated rooms, waving goodnight to each other on your departure from one another. On the way to the boys room, however, Zoro froze, realising he didn’t want to sleep alone. The battle shaking him more than he realised; he didn’t want to sleep without knowing you were okay. He turned around, making a beeline for the door of the girls room. When he entered you had already collapsed onto the bed, light breathing vibrated off your pillow. You lifted your head slightly to see Zoro’s figure approaching your bed, your heart stopping momentarily. “Mind if I sleep here?” He asked, not waiting for a response before lifting himself into the covers. You nodded, too tired to talk, crawling up to his chest. His arm created the perfect nook, inviting your still tired body to rest with him. To rest in his ever loving arms. You carefully tucked yourself into him, nuzzling into his strong chest, inhaling his musked scent. To you, he smelt like home. He was everything that made you feel whole and safe and finding this new refuge only made home that little more stable.
You awoke, still nuzzled in his chest, his hands stroking your hair. The room was dark. Far darker than when you both fell asleep. You both had been asleep all day. You groaned, attempting to sit up next to him, rubbing your eyes to adjust to the room. Your body still ached from the night before, bruised kissed your body in sporadic patterns. Zoro on the other hand had never looked better; hardly a scratch on him, and the ones that marked his body made him even more inviting to you. You looked down at him, admiring his smug face as he watch you slowly adjust to your surroundings, wondering how long you could go on like this. How long before it was too late for him to be yours.
———————————————
You entered the boys room with shaking hands, not knowing how to best approach this. You wanted to let Zoro know. You had figured it out within the first few times of doing it, but sleeping in his arms was your cure. No matter when or where the both of you would be safe and asleep as long as he held you to him. You wanted to ask him for more nights with him; nights with just the two of you together. And you hoped he wanted that too. Zoro sat on his bed, sharpening one of his swords, the blade glistening from the sun beaming down through the window; the light dancing on his face, illuminating his complexion. “Hey, Zoro…?” you shut the door, leaning back on it nervously. He looked up at you, a reassuring smile plastered on his face. “What’s up?” He patted the end of his bed, ushering you to come sit by him; setting his sword down back with the others. You hesitated for a moment before wondering over to where he sat, crossing your legs under you. You didn’t know how to tell him, let alone how he would react. Ever since the night in the crows nest, being with him created the best sleep you had in a long time and you wanted nothing more than to do it again. But how would he take it? You knew where you wanted to stand with him. You wanted him. You wanted to sleep with him in his arms forever. You had never felt so safe, so secure, in your life. It only cemented the feelings you had for him. “I actually sleep well with you… in your arms” you confessed, looking down at your hands “the best sleeps I have had in a really long time”. “Yeah?” he sat forward, hearing your mumbles better. “Um, I was thinking” you stuttered “maybe, I mean it’s totally up to you, but would yo-“ “You wanna maybe do it more often?” He cut you off, his eye hopeful. You let out a shaky breath, “yeah I do, I really do… but the crew wouldn’t let us get away with that… you know what they’re like; what Sanji is like. Nothing is ever innocent between friends here…”. “Well maybe we should do it more than friends?” He suggested, a haze of blush lighting his cheeks. You furrowed your brow, your heart skipping a beat, hoping he meant what you thought it meant. God, you prayed it was. “What do you mean by that?” “I mean” he looked down at your hands, gripping them in his large warm ones “maybe we should be more than friends?” You stared at him for a while, not really knowing what to say. You felt lightheaded, your sight starting to give away; fogging over. You wanted this. Oh, how you wanted this; wanted him. You could vaguely make out his face, his eye flashing over in regret, his mouth stuttering trying to backtrack his words. You leaned forward quickly, before he had a chance to speak, wrapping your lips around his. He gasped into the kiss, shocked at your bold move, not kissing back at first. He suddenly relaxed, his reflexes kicked in, kissing you back hungrily. He leaning forward, toppling you back onto your back, his large frame boxing you under him. His tongue parted your lips, meeting yours in the middle as they swirled against each other. His arms, worn and strong, wrapped around you, holding you to him; like you were going to slip from his grasp. You both stayed in your little oasis, tongue and teeth flying against each other with utmost hunger. Sloppy kisses and moans filled the room, growing a pent up heat that waited way beyond boiling point. You detached yourself from Zoro’s lips, gasping for air, your eyes folding shut. He stayed above you, panting, a smile creeping onto his wonderfully satisfied face. “So” he smirked, brushing your hair out of your face, his breath shallow “I take it that’s a yes?”

The Baron de Viomenil
Based on that time Hamilton said he talked with a ghost but actually he talks with the lover he lost.
I don't have enough words to thank @benoname, who read and corrected this.
***
Hamilton is a man of good character, or at least, that’s what he likes to believe. All the gossip and arguments against people? Even against his political similars? Well deserved and well done, if they ever could meet him deeper, in more friendly manners anyone could realize he has an extraordinarily charm and it’s nice man and good company, after all, he’s warm with his friendships.
Although this, more than a show on how nice he can be, an act of his good temper and mind, this action could rather fit in the kind of jokes a young man or even a child would do and not the first minister of the Nation. However, this plan had been liked by Mr. Church and a friend of General Kosciuszko therefore at least, he can say he isn’t alone in his genius or madness.
“I’m afraid I’ll make you all amazed, and the true is I have some magical charm to talk with the no-alive,” admits an afternoon the honorable Kosciuszko’s friend, Niemcewicz, to the children of Phillip Church. There’re amused faces, surprised faces and little glances filled with fascination.
“And it’s true, your father can give to you the testimony of this,” insists Niemcewicz.
Phillip Church takes the word. “Indeed it is, he has shown me my calligraphy professor who has already ended his terrene way almost a decade ago.”
With that, the trusted testimony of their father, the faces change and amazed, now admirating the strange power he carries but at the same time, horrified for the broken veil between the world of the life and the death.
The youngest children look totally terrified with this new information, scared of when they’ll enter a room and find a spirit walking among the furniture. Their way of acting is adopting a safe place behind their father and oldest brothers, carefully avoiding Niemcewicz and the ghostly presences he calls.
And that isn’t even the rest of the joke! It still doesn’t have the Hamilton enter, who unluckily have to wait for another chance, let the little story grow up, the children get fun and scares trying to avoid spirits, betting if the curtain that just moved was the wind or something else, they get fun and emotion telling the tale to their friends, Niemcewicz going to the Church’s house and being the reason of lots of childish uproars. Even Phillip himself narrates it to his closest friends.
The rest of the joke is programmed for a dinner placed in Mr. Church place; the General sits at the side of Phillip, and Hamilton’s taking a place two chairs of distance, they eat meat, asparagus and potatoes, well seasoned and letting the room fill with the smells of delicious flavors. The children, even if they look scared, they’re full of emotion and curiosity for Niemcewicz, who eats quietly without having called yet the spirits of another world, enjoying the food and gaining energy for his magical performance.
When the food is ending and the sounds or cutlery are slowly stopping, the talk slips to trivials topics, like Niemcewicz’s abilities; when Phillips asks for a magical talk is the sign for Hamilton to get out of that room, preparing himself for his part of the joke.
“If you excuse me, I’ll go to get some air to another room,” he says, explaining that the heat from the candles it’s starting to suffocate.
They offer him a glass of water, he rejects it and starts his way to the library, bathed in moonly light and the soft heat, and light of the candles, all dominated with the quietness of the night.
Now his task is easy, close the door between giggles and take a sit in the room in a place where he can still hear the conversation on the table, then, when it’s his moment to make his apparition, looked all surprised and amazed, says he just talked with the Baron de Viomenil, and the rest will be about highlighting the story while Niemcewicz talks with humbleness about his sixth sense.
A few moments pass before he hears the chimes from the table, the start of the “ritual”, a creative invention which adds credibility to the story.
“Now you spend your time invoking the dead, my dear boy?” Asks a voice at his backs, full of fun and with a strange tone, a tone which should be impossible to have, a tone of life and vitality.
Hamilton doesn’t turn, the surprise and the new emotions are grasping to his bones, his body totally frozen, a bad combination of nocturnal cold and his accelerated heart crying. It these moments, he isn’t surprised by the presence of another one in the room, he’s moved by how similar that voice is to his Laurens’.
His good Laurens, his perfect but dead Laurens.
His Laurens who should be finding peace in heaven, who should be being accompanied by all the happiness that the terrene world refused him. His Laurens who should have been forgotten by his mind, who shouldn’t be close to puncture the memory of him, to bleed out his heart with his sole presence.
However, that who sounds so similar to his Laurens is at a short distance from him, so short the distance that can be easily eliminated with a pair of steps. Soft, dedicated and galant steps, his Laurens just leaves the sound of his coat moving at the time he gets close to him, solid and real.
Hamilton would like to do the thing any sane man would do in this situation, running away without looking back at the dead’s appearance, but very much at his pity (and his happiness and sadness) he isn’t a sane man around Laurens. His good John, his John who is the desire and the weakness of his mind, the destructor of the organized mental kingdoms he creates. The secret desire his heart had kept no matter the years and the distances, his Laurens, his heart wishes to fall down for him more than anyone, more than nothing.
So, if the suspicious presence at his back can be remotely his Laurens, no matter what, he’s taking it, no matter if his nails bleed or if his eyes cry, he has the chance, the merciful chance of giving to his heart the most little pound of the purest happiness his J brings.
But oh, fool heart, so scared but so excited at the same time, so nervous but so unable to make a move. His cold hands possessed the nerves even if they could be so easily warmed by his dearest. His eyes now so easily covered by tears which could be easily cleaned by the fingertips of his dear, why doesn’t he turn around? Why don’t he take a sip of happiness after being thirsty? It has always been like this, he and John, so close but so far away due the war, the distances and his shaky body refusing to move.
Nevertheless, despite the stars against them, his J would always returned to him, would always take the way to find him, like it’s happening in the Church’s library, Laurens would take him with the most gentle hands, without caring if he has to hold him from his own emotions, scared, big and messed emotions, like a sea in his chest, big waves raising and claiming domination, his own feelings trying to drown down each other.
“Dearest, won’t you give me a last look of your face?” Asks the voice at his side, no- asks his Laurens. And if his Laurens asks for something, he gives it and lets him take more, take all he can desire of him and his simple body and love.
So he looks at him, just unable of deny a petition as sweet as that, a petition his own heart asked and cried for so many nights, a last glance of Laurens, something as close as he can have of the color in his eyes, the sweetness from his lips and the warmth of him all. And if Laurens would treasure a glance of him with the same care? How can he deny?
His eyes find the quiet blue, the sweet blue which his memory cannot make justice, the blue he has tried to find in clothing, in paints and in the sky, searching just for the most little comfort to his heart, his heavy heart due the yoke 27th of August gave him.
His Laurens is still beautiful, an attractive and galant man with a naughty smile oin his lips and the eyes filled with charm and holy heaven-... Filled with the love and adoration he thought he wouldn’t find ever again, the emotions in his eyes are sweet and make Hamilton's chest blossom. He only hopes for one thing, he hopes that his eyes, conflictual and scared eyes with tears are giving Laurens the biggest piece of peace and love that can be offered.
However, despite Hamilton have thought about a remeeting in another world many times, despite he planned his apologies, his scoldings and the ways he would give Laurens all the love and caresses his soul can offer, he’s still unable to do a thing, his hands shaking so terribly empty and cold, so terribly impropers to be holding nothing when his Laurens is so close.
That isn’t to be an annoyance to Laurens, who looks ready to fill up the empty places that Alexander left between them. Hugging him and closing him, letting their foreheads lay together and Hamilton feels it, warmth and solid against him, strong and affectionate as he remembers him, his heart demands him to fall in John’s love while his poor chest, the chest he thought whitered, returns to life.
And Hamilton cries, now conscious of his fast tears over his cheeks, wetting Laurens but who cares? It’s his Laurens, his dearest and his dearest was never annoyed for being stained by his happiness or sadness.
His hands, his shaky hands caress, no, grasp Laurens' face, his blushed cheeks, his powdered hair- maybe it’s his impression, but he feels perfectly the sensation of powder on his hands.
He wants to laugh, to scream of joy, because it is his Laurens, his Laurens who always returns to him, the one who never could abandon him, not even after death. His Laurens.
And he, as his Hamilton, lets himself flourish beyond his attention, smiles at the feeling of his embrace and the tears are now just another expression of his happiness.
“I’ve missed you too much,” says Laurens, with the same great and big emotions crossing through his face;, Hamilton nods strongly, caressing, kissing his cheeks, still too tired and emotional to find proper words.
It’s when he kisses his lips his emotions are finally calming down, holded and well loved, fitting with his J as he always desired, working together for such sweet purposes like love. The kiss is more than good, it’s incredible, it’s drinking pure water, it’s walking together through the forest again, it’s laying together in the same bed after making love.
When the precious kiss finds its end, the emotions are still flying through the air, strong and present, Alexander is still firmly grasping at John, as close as he can, ready to jump and take all John is ready to give him.
“You’re getting old, my dear boy,” John does the observation, innocent and naive, looking at the new face of Alexander, a stronger face, more mature, maybe even a little taller and less thin than before.
But that’s a terrible memory to Hamilton, because while his body is getting old, his Laurens is looking identical to his last meeting, even dressed with his uniform as the most beautiful of the soldiers.
“I can promise my love hasn't suffered the same consequences of the years,” aAnswers Alexander, too scared that John is being assaulted by insecurities and abstract fears he cannot understand.
However, John just smiles. “It would proper you being called ‘boy’ then?”.
“If you consider me worthy of such title,” says Alexander, actually scared of the possibility of removing the “dear boy” title, even when it’s evident that Laurens loves him as ardently as he remembers.
John doesn’t answer with words, he looks wanting to demonstrate with actions and what better that to continue kissing, embracing and adoring?
Hamilton lets himself be conquered again, not really sure if there’s some part of him which isn’t already captivated by Laurens. Anyway, he lets himself sink into the tenderness as a man returning home.
His hands, before numb for the emotions, are now excited and wandering, remembering the shape of Laurens, the firmness of his embracing, the texture of his hair, he delights with the texture of his coat, with how his hands are covered with a thin cape of powder from his J’s hair and his heart sings of joy when his dearest takes his hand, giving to him the impossible, something he didn’t even imagine he could have again.
Very far away, he hears the bell has stopped sounding. Bad for Niemcewicz and Church, they won’t see him again, they won’t take him out again from Laurens’ embrace, let he be him, comfortable and happy, aging and dying happily in tenderness and love -, the world already removed his Laurens from him once, he won’t lose him again, they won’t oblige him to let him go again.
He keeps grasping at Laurens, or at least he tries to do so until John moves away, caressing his cheek.
“My dear, you must return to the table.”
No. No. No.
He shakes his head, no, nobody, not even Laurens will move him away.
There’s much risk to take after that, how will he live quietly knowing there’s ways to return to him? How will he live knowing he returned to him? How will he continue with his life after being gifted with the lover he lost, the lover who was removed from his life so cruelly?
“You must return, my Hamilton”.
“The dinner will continue without me.” Life will continue without him, as it continued without J.
“They’ll worry about you dear, they’ll come to search you,” argues Laurens.
“Do you not want me close?” attacks Hamilton, without finding a good explanation to this rejection from his lover.
“I love you more than anything in this world, you have a family waiting for you, that’s why you must return.” So it’s about that, it isn’t about dinners, it’s about something bigger, something he’s right.
“Just five more minutes.” It’s the only petition he could be asking for.
“Fine, five more minutes.”
And Hamilton enjoys those, makes Laurens bend down his knees, letting him watch his face better, lets his finger search a comfy place in his hair, lets his arms be wrapped around his neck, lets his lips find again any part of John he can get, forgetting the world outside them, forgetting all the things different to the paradise exclusive for him and Laurens.
He doesn’t know if the five minutes pass but when he hears voices at the living room asking for him, it’s the painful sign he has to abandon Laurens to meet the life incompatible with such love.
Laurens looks at him tenderly, opens the door for him and before he has said goodbye, he confesses to him, all lovely and affectionate.
“This is the life I wanted for you, happy and social, fun dinners every week with people who admire and respect you.” Alexander knows the implication in his words. ‘This is the life I couldn’t have given to you.’
And he wants to reciprocate, at least make his spirit know, that this life cannot be a reasonable competition with a moment at his side.
But the spirit has disappeared. And Hamilton's chest withered again, maybe even worse than before, but how likely he would offer his heart over and over again to Laurens, no matter what.
When he’s in the living room, he doesn’t have time to think about love, pain and melancholy, he just can say:
“I just talked with the Baron de Viomenil”.

Will mafia!h and Y/N will have babies? 🥺💓
IM SO SORRY TO TELL YOU THIS BESTIE BUT.... </3
39. " I'm not saying a goodbye."
It was raining. Skies a gloomy shade of cinereal. Harry’s sleek car came to a screeching halt infront of the vast threshold of his home -- his grin pearlish, eyes twinkling a spark as he gets out of the car not caring to close the door behind. He greets his staff and strides two steps together with a gorgeous bunch of his lovie’s favourite flowers now dewy with raindrops and his nose twitched upon sniffing the vanilla-y smell while passing the kitchen and with his beam never vanishing he leaned into the doorframe asking the people inside, “’Ave y'seen Y/N?” Only for them to shake their heads in uncertainty.
She hasn’t showed herself downstairs since morning and even though it’s very odd of her not to chirp around the mansion nobody went to knock at her door to inquire, they think she deserves privacy.
This time they should have because when Harry barged inside their room it was caliginous with curtains shut and lights dimmed to zero.
“Lovie?” His cheery voice clamoured against the walls, a sour feeling he couldn’t be aware of pinches him in throat as he bobbed his head around to look for her and it perked up when a shadow falls on his feet.
“Baby?” His smile quirked back onto his confused features and he narrowed his eyelids to take in her presence through the darkness of wardrobe, “Harry.” A shaky whisper floated towards him and before that sweet call she was falling against his chest.
“Y/N ... baby —-,” His stumped chuckle halted, his brain numbed for a moment when his fingertips brushed up her back to push her closer to him and they trembled as they collected the wetness there. His heart bleaks a stinging pain into it’s cords, his breath shuddered coldly, flowers falling sadly beside their feet and his eyes earths with tears of panic, angst and torment.
His fingertips coating in his love's thick blood.
“I –- ‘m .. you –.. you’re h-hu —- hurt,” He stammered through a whimper hand wrapping around the dagger whose half end’s stabbed into Y/N's spine, her weak frail body unresponsive though she could listen to him.
“Who did this to you! Who did this to you!?” His screams and cries startled everyone downstairs and they rushed up to see what’s happening, to be shocked by their sights of Y/N limp in Harry’s embrace.
He turned his neck to shout at them, “I need a hand t’help me!!” His eyes bloodshot and Niall his best-man scurried over to them as Harry carried Y/N and laid her on her tummy on the bed, he slips onto his knees putting his chin on the mattress to look in her hazy painful eyes -- tears caged in them but never flowing down.
“Harry ...” She mumbled grittily in agony lifting her shaky fingers to pet his face and like an affection starved kitten Harry doesn’t let her tire herself and gets closer to her himself, “Niall bring the first aid, it’s under the sink.” He commands him not letting his eyes drift from over her angelic face.
“You’re okay baby. You’re okay, I know how to stitch up knife wounds.” He sniffled sucking in a breath trying to be brave for her and she just smiled gorgeously, lips blue and cheeks draining out of her usual berry stain.
“Jesus. Harry she’s been stabbed thrice, those fuckers,” Niall’s words wavered in fear and sympathy for Y/N. He squeezed Harry’s shoulder as Harry sobbed upon hearing that, “No –-... no, no! It’s still okay yeah poppet? I’m g’na get y'alright.” He wanted to covers his eyes to block the hurting groans Y/N elicited and he cradled her soft face in his warm palms in comparison to her temperature, touching their temples to pray together.
“Harry li .. listen to —- to me,” She gasps eyes flittering over his shoulder towards Bambi and Thumper the two dogs that had gotten overly fond of her, Harry’s blurry gaze follows her enfeebled gesture for them to come near her.
They whined and howled sadly flopping beside Harry and Harry hiccupped into his elbow shaking his head when Y/N put her hand under their ears in effort to scratch them but wasn’t able to unfortunately, “Hi babies. You’re gonna look after dad after ‘m gone?” Everyone cried at that watching her soul leave their dull lives that watered colourful upon her arrival.
“Don’t say that! Don’t y'dare say that!” Harry sobbed rushing to hug her tightly, the front of his shirt loathing crimson and she hissed looping her arm against his neck when Niall pulled the dagger out from her lower spine gradually and slowly not to hurt her.
“’M so sorry baby, sorry for being the reason of y’pain.” His tears dampened her already sweaty crook of neck, “Pr – promise me t-that that you’ll have some —.. someone who lov‐-.. loves –--,” She whimpered. Her body jerked into him with a force and she pushed him weakly away to stitch her lips tenderly against his's.
“Tell me bubby. Ha—- have I loved y'enough?” She cooed into their kiss and Harry bolted his eyes shut, poisonous sobs wrecking out of his chest.
“Tell me before, I go ...” Her heartbeat started dropping insanely, her lips wobbled, toes curling with life excavating out of her, “Y'have. Y'have don’t go baby, I’m not saying a goodbye!” He cried showering her in kisses for the one last time and pets her hair, eyes closed praying she takes him with herself because he'd never recover from the pain of loosing the only person he loved more than himself, the person who made hum love himself.
“I love you ..” She whispered, her loving kind eyes locked against his’s and the pool of honey around her rims expanded, her lips parted around the gasping breaths and Harry begged and pleaded — a side of him no-one has ever witnessed as he twisted in anguish considering himself the unluckiest man on the earth for letting his lover go like this, in the worst possible way.
“I love you, I thought I’d never be capable of, y'made me worthy darling. I'll always love you baby....” He shrieked into her chest heaving her up gently to embrace her properly and even though he knew she was no more with him, he fooled himself into thinking so.
If it was possible he’d have clawed his ribs to pluck out his heart in return of hers and he felt like the sun and earth had crashed vanishing away the time spaces as he sat there crying and crying mourning the loss of his lovie that could never be healed by anything in this whole word.
He keeps on holding her, rocking back and forth as he lulls her to slumber of death.
It hurts. It hurts so bad.
His heart weeps.
His soul aches.
When rain stopped and that tranquil silence doomed over them, rage filled his every pore and vein.
He knew who did this. Harry has played dirty but he has never played unfair. It was this gang of companies who sabotaged and destructed the orphanages at the property which belonged to his mother (but the papers weren’t clear) to build restaurants and apartments there so Harry took revenge by burning acres of their illegal drug running underground factory and rebuilt the orphanages and took Y/N to one of their charity events.
She was the happiest he had ever seen her.
It’s like a gun barrel clicked in. A firecracker catching the fuse of ashe to burst everything into flames as Harry laid her with ever most tenderness and kissed her temple, her lifeless eyelids and her chapped lips.
Cleaned the streak of blood with his sleeve and didn’t wipe his tears away bashing out of the room, everyone stepped away as Niall lunged infront of him to stop him before he goes to cause damage to himself more than to them for being in such a vulnerable and weak state.
“Step away.” He growled angrily, gaze fiery and dangerous.
“No.” Niall sighed.
“I wouldn’t get her buried in sucha cold blood. She didn’t deserved this, hell nobody does.” Harry kissed his teeth together gripping at his hair ruthlessly, cheeks dry with tears, his limbs trembling, his head spinning.
“Anyone who wouldn’t follow my orders gets their kneecaps blow-off.” He grunted -- nostrils flaring and saying this he went away, snatching his guns from the console and ordered his men to find the security guards that had their duties at the main gates.
In just a day he hunted each of those monsters down like a hungry wolf and gave them such punished, tortured deaths that each one fell in Harry’s feet for his mercy but his heart was turned into a stone already because the only warmth it had there was because of one person and that person’s gone leaving him to survive in this hellhole alone while he dragged these bastards to the depths of firepits.
Once, coming back home to her. To his sunshine, to his soul and life, to his reasons of getting up every morning so he would get to spend time with her —- he broke down. Into shattered bits and pieces of remorse, guilt and sadness feeling himself so small and hurtable as he cried to himself all alone in their garden with no-one to console him where he’ll come to meet her daily.
He wants to rip his skin apart and set it on fire for his beating heart to stop, for it stop feeling.
He feels sick. Fainting, in urgency and desperation to hold his baby and never let go.
To lay down with her under the soil if that's possible.
his only reason to live.
His only beloved.
.
The wind giggles through pink leaves of cherry blossom tree, lush grass resting peacefully and Harry smiles to himself treading towards his two most favourite people in the world.
The spring being their heartiest month.
“Azalea! What y’chattering ‘bout t'mum?” He asks and nods proudly when his lil boy stands up from his cross position on the ground from beside his mother and brushes the grassy spikes from his cherry printed shorts with his little pudgy hands.
“My first day at school dada!” The four years old squeals and Harry scoops him up in his arms, kissing his cheek again amount less times, “Is that so, huh! huh!” He tickles his little bun.
Y/N was right. Isn’t she always. Harry chuckles. Even if she’s gone he still feels loved from her, she’s in the rains, in the sweaters he wears when he feels shallow, in the scent of his pillows, she’s in the vanilla smell of their favourite cupcakes – she’s in his dreams and that name of their son, Azalea.
She always wanted to name their first born Azalea, a blooming flower that happens to be a vibrant pink, a gift of spring, are floriferous in sunshine and she'd always say that Harry would be their sun.
Their ever source of happiness.
Azalea was three days old when his mother died and Harry took him home even though not sure of his own decision but something in those little eyes that matches his mommy made Harry’s heart attract towards him so much he brought him without another thought.
A home he built with Y/N. The curtains of the mansion still remains pushed back wide, flower vases on every furniture, not a day goes by when anyone doesn’t misses her and the ducklings has grown so much that Y/N would have been spinning in happiness around.
Nothing has changed, life’s fleeting for everyone except for Harry. He counts each day and night that goes without her beside him in his sleep, in the little picnics with Azalea and Niall, in the story reading at nights with his baby, in kitchen to watch the winters first rain prattling against that one window that’s old enough to carry the remains of his ancestors, she’s never there to share a noodle pot with him while he sits and eat alone, never there to patch his favourite socks back, to kiss his forehead whenever he leaves home, to call him sweet names and to laugh with him on his silly jokes, to do thumb fights, to get angry with him whenever he refuses to layer himself in cold.
Never.
Never physically. But, she’s always there in his heart, her presence lurks around him and he could feel the warmth of her wrapping around him whenever he falls asleep watching telly.
“What did y'learn today bubba?” He asks Azalea and grins cheekily when Azalea babbles, “Colours!”
“That’s fuckin’ amazin'!” At that a huge gush of breeze hits him in face a tiny branch of the tree they’re standing under falls on his head.
“Kay' kay fine! No cursing.” He squeaks in defence pouting down at the grave of his lovie and his face splits into a grin when his hair glittered up with cherry blossom leaves.
“We miss you very much,” His voice heavy and sad. He gulps chokingly and blinks away the glossiness, stroking a thumb up Azalea cheek who’s sitting in Harry’s lap.
Every evening they come to meet Y/N, the hole in his heart couldn’t fill up of her void but the soothing feeling of relief that she’s in their garden and nearer to him has lessened the grief.
“G’na meet you tomorrow, our baby’s mighty hungry.” He chuckles hearing the grumbling noises coming from Azalea’s belly.
“You’re so cheeky baby.” His eyes glimmers and he feels himself swooning into breeze, “How’s it going in heaven?” He asks airily tracing his initials beside her beautiful name engraved at the tombstone and it’s like she’s scolding him when he gets a nip on his pointy finger.
“Azalea kiss mommy a goodbye.” Harry breaks into laughter when Azalea bobs his head and almost tumbles of his daddy’s lap in the effort to reach the tombstone.
“Goodbye beautiful.” Harry whispers kissing the top of her tombstone and his heart bursts into lilacs when once again he’s showered into petal like leaves.
“I love you too, baby.” Finally he has accepted to say goodbyes.

Pairing: Pero Tovar/Virgin!Reader
Work Count: 3.2k
Summary: You and Pero spend your first night together, which is your first night with anyone.
Warnings: you guys have penis in vagina sex. Some descriptions/mentions of violence, reference to painful loss of virginity, but we all know Pero’s too good to do that to you
You were a walking contradiction. Nothing was more confusing or intriguing to Pero Tovar than how you managed to exist in these times.
When he’d been introduced to you (it was generous to call it an introduction, seeing as Tovar more or less refused to acknowledge you at the time) he saw you the way he saw most everyone: an annoyance at best, a punishment from god at worst. When he glanced at you, he saw just a little thing, a girl who ought to be at home, out of her depths.
He first beheld your beauty through a veil of bloodshed. On the battlefield you had no equal. People throughout his travels often equated grace to beauty, but in observing you, Pero found that simply wasn’t so. You did not dance with the blade, like twirled silk. What you did was not akin to dancing. It was heavy and destructive, you took to you enemies with the crushing force of a mortar and pestle. You wielded the heavy and challenging kanabo, the force of which caved armor and shattered bones, man and beast alike. When you swung the heavy bat, you looked as a healer pounding medicine. The force itself was destructive, but it was delivered with the righteousness of someone who was preserving life.
You could not always use the kanabo, and you most certainly could not spar with it, for your opponents would be crippled by even a sporting blow. So Tovar sometimes saw your prowess with the sword, the staff, anything nearby. You made many an arrogant man eat their words.
Now, when he was to imagine a beautiful woman, he did not think of flowing locks and fair skin wrapped in silks. He saw sword-cut hair, an oversized tunic, the loosening laces on leather armor.
And beyond the fighting, you did not often make with revelry. Tense in the company of most others in your band of mercenaries, you kept away when they became excited. When you approached him, scowling as he wolfed down his food alone, he dreaded having to endure niceties, persuasions, and prattel from you, and had already decided to be as disagreeable as possible. To his utter surprise, you said nothing to him at all as you kept a couple of meters distance and ate your own meal. You did so day after day, and at first he had been paranoid that this was some plot at inching your way closer, that one day you would ruin this silence and reveal your true intentions. Until one night, Tovar found himself doing something unthinkable: initiating conversation. Or at least, speaking unprompted.
“You do not chatter like the others,” he stated almost mindlessly, not knowing what he was expecting by saying so.
“I try not to talk when I have nothing to say,” you admitted. You looked towards him, half illuminated by the distant, flickering fire.
He found himself studying every detail of your face from the corner of his eye. It was terrifying, for once wanting to observe and actually caring if he was noticed doing so.
“And,” you continued quietly, “they say you do not like to be disturbed.” That was a very kind way of rephrasing how he was often spoken of. In all likelihood, what you were actually told was probably more along the lines of ‘he’s a mean, miserable bastard who doesn’t like anyone’. Tovar didn’t know how he felt about your twisting such words into something that sounded… reasonable.
Understood.
“I don’t like being disturbed either.”
Now, when he was to imagine a beautiful woman, he did not think of lip rouge and silent, unnoticed steps, or curled, dark lashes, of coquettish smirks. He thought of a split lip, and the uneven pace of worn leather kicking at stray pebbles, of tired eyes rubbed with the back of the hand after looking into the fire too long, of the struggle to hold back a wide-mouthed yawn.
Through a few well placed miracles and the incessant meddling of others (William) the two of you had ended up together. And this was when Pero discovered what a contradiction you were.
You knew death in every facet… except for la petite mort.
While other girls snuck off with their paramours in experimental forays of intimacy, you were studying the blade, the staff, the bow, the kusarigama. Raised by a father and uncles who loved you, but did not know how to raise a young lady. Only how to raise a fighter.
When you didn’t scare off any potential suitors, they certainly did.
While younger than Pero, you were still fully grown, and had yet to even kiss a man until Pero had claimed your lips in a passionate fury on the night of his confession.
Pero did not fancy himself a teacher, he saw himself as a taker, one with no patience for uncertainties and incompetence. But for you, he would be anything. And regardless of what he was, what you deserved was a gentle touch. Subtle, comforting, patient, and understanding.
All words that had never been used to describe him.
Over time, the kisses grew deeper, the touches flirted further beneath the clothes, until the night came where he held you against him in his bed, eyes begging for more as you looked to him for guidance. Never had he been so frightened at the thought of bedding a woman. He was a scoundrel with hands only fit for killing, and he was terrified of hurting you somehow.
But he’d be damned if anyone else took this honor.
With every piece of clothing he stripped your body of, you looked at him with such trust. He felt your heart beating in his rough palms, like the flutter of a bird’s wings. Never before had he been responsible for something so pure, so delicate. His relations before you were intimacies he had paid for in coin, encounters that didn’t require any gentleness on his part, where he cared little about any pleasure or pain besides his own. If he were to do one thing in his life with tact and delicacy, it would be this, he promised himself.
“Tell me again, hermosa, how many before me have seen this beautiful body?”
“N-none. You’re the first, Pero.”
He hums in satisfaction, running his hands up your stomach to cup your breasts. His thumbs stroke over the hardening peaks, causing a hitch in your breath as you shudder.
“Oh, mi conejita, so sensitive,” he descends, taking a nipple in his mouth and sucking almost harshly for just a moment before pulling away, admiring how your breast shines with his spit. You squeak out a shaking moan. “I wonder if you’re this sensitive everywhere else? Don’t tell me. I’ll find out myself.”
You feel your cheeks heat at his words, feeling the urge to curl in on yourself and hide. But Pero keeps you bare to him as he lavishes eager attention on your breasts, enjoying the whines half-caught in your throat. By the time your nipples are perked and wet from Pero’s hot mouth, your blush has spread down to your collar. He pulls away slightly, gently guiding you to lay down. He takes your thighs in his strong hands and spreads them further apart. His thumbs spread your lips so get a good look at your pink, silky hole twitching with a need you’ve never known before.
Your breath hitches as one of his fingers traces along your sensitive lips, brushing against your clit briefly before beginning to sink into you slowly. He rocks it back and forth gently while admiring the rise and fall of your chest, the way your eyelids flutter as you go between wanting to watch and being too bashful to. His thumb gently strokes your clit as he works to ease in another finger, and you tense harshly at the new intrusion. He leans down to press a few reassuring kisses against your neck.
“Relax, querida. Let me in.” He whispers, moving his lips to your mouth in an effort to distract you as he coaxes you open. His cock was heavy and hard against the laces of his trousers. You would see it soon, but Pero doesn’t want to overwhelm you. Not yet, anyways.
You breathe deeply in an attempt to relax your muscles as Pero’s fingers reach farther than yours ever could, and it feels as if he holds all of your bodily feelings in the palm of his hand. He continues to coo endearments against your neck to comfort you.
“Bueno, bueno… you’ve gotten nice and wet for me, cariño, so good for me,” a smirk spreads across his face as he feels you tighten with his words. “Oh, you like it when I talk, niña?” He teases, increasing the pace as he pumps his fingers in and out of you, the tight circles he’s rubbing into your clit on the verge of driving you mad.
He parts from your neck to take a look at your face in pleasure, and finds himself enraptured by the slight furrow of your brows and the way your eyelids flutter when he strokes the right part of your insides. Your quiet huffing and mewling, combined with the way your cunt is gripping at his fingers, has him more riled up than he’d like to admit.
“Pero, I-I I think I’m gonna cum,” you whine, looking at him with pleading eyes. He bristles with pride as your hips move to meet the palm of his hand while chasing the pleasure he gives you.
“Cum then, muñeca. Cum for me.”
The coil in your belly winds so tightly it snaps, and white hot pleasure floods your system. Pero groans as you cream on his fingers, feeling his cock throb harshly for the umpteenth time tonight. A tremor wracks your body as the mercenary continues rocking his fingers gently to help you ride out your climax. When they withdraw, he doesn’t hesitate to lick them clean, much to your embarrassment. The sight of his tongue against your slick on his hand gives you… ideas. Ideas that will have to wait until another night, maybe.
He leans down to plant a chaste kiss to your lips before bringing you to sit up. He wants to see what else you’ve never done. Wants to know how curious you are.
Pero places one of your hands (which feel so small in his) against the tent in his pants, encouraging you to explore his body the way you’ve so graciously allowed him to explore yours. His tunic is already off, but of course, you’ve seen men shirtless before. His cock feels hot and hard through his trousers, and the apprehension is probably clear on your flustered face, but Tovar finds this entire situation incredibly arousing.
He’s no stranger to sex, but most of his previous sexual encounters had been paid for and, thusly, were with experienced (and sometimes jaded) partners. Though the size of his cock may have impressed a few, it had never been the first they’d seen, touched, or taken. This was different.
His eyes never leave your face as you bite your lip, occasionally looking to him for approval as you move to undo the laces on his trousers. His eyes are lidded and dark with desire, and a smile crosses his face, a little more genuine than the usual smirks he throws in your direction.
“Go on,” he urges, more gently than he knew himself capable. You finally slip down his waistband and smallclothes, and his cock lands heavy against his stomach as he reclines just slightly. You try to contain your startled gasp, attempting to seem less like the blushing virgin you clearly are. The way your lips part ever so slightly as you examine his red, leaking cock with nervous interest sends the mercenary reeling.
Pero almost takes your hesitance as fear, which he’s determined to quell, before you finally reach your hands out to run them along the hard length, drawing a ragged groan from him.
For a moment, Pero feels the strongest compulsion to take charge of you. To guide your head down and order you to get his cock nice and wet before he takes you, to see tears prick at your eyes while you struggle to take his cock in your little mouth.
But, somewhat regrettably, he remembers his first time with a woman well. He remembers the nerves burning against his skin like a thousand needles, the fear of performing well and doing things he’d never even imagined doing. He can only imagine that fear to be tenfold for a girl. You’ve spent years in the company of brash mercenaries, uncouth enough that they brag of their rough, bruising conquests. He knows the type. And what women you do meet often speak of intimacy with dread, or reflect on the pain of their first times.
You are one of the few things in Pero Tovar’s life that he has ever really cared for. And his greatest wish is to make you feel cared for. He has never known patience. But for you, he shall have it in spades. You’ll have plenty of time to play rough later. Or never, if that’s what you want.
Not to mention, he’s just about as hard as he’s ever been in his entire life, and he doubts he would last in your mouth, not with the passionate stare you’re giving him. You have, after all, always been a quick learner when it came to the sword. The way you start experimentally moving your hands along his cock confirm this, as he sighs in pleasure from the light pressure you’re giving him.
“This the first cock you’ve seen up close, hermosa?” you nod, and that teasing smile is once again set on his face. “What do you think of it?”
Your eyes widen just slightly at the question. He takes one of your hands and spits in it before letting you continue to stroke his cock, still patiently awaiting an answer.
“Are they all… like this?” Pero has a feeling he knows what you mean, but he wants you to say it.
“Like what, preciosa?”
“Big.”
He chuckles quietly before cupping your chin in his hand and bringing you towards him for another bout of fervent kisses. In these moments, and most others, he looks at you and sees everything he’s ever wanted. He presses his forehead to yours when he finally parts from your lips.
“No, amor, not all,” he pauses in thought, somewhat uncharacteristically. “Are you worried?”
“...Yes.” The mercenary appreciates your honesty. For your entire life, you have had to be brave. He doesn’t want you to have to be brave with him. He’s never been trusted with something as precious as you. He calls your name with the same softness he feels for you.
“I will never hurt you,” he promises. “And…” his need causes him to struggle with the next part. He’s still not used to being sensitive, not used to caring so much. “We do not have to do this.”
Pero can see the fire ignite in your eyes, that same passion he sees when you get up right after being knocked down.
“I want to, Pero, I want to. Will you take care of me?” his eyes have their own fire now. He guides you down onto your back once again and leans over you. His cock leaks against the soft skin of your belly as he kisses up your neck, sucking in marks as he goes.
“Forever,” he swears.
Pero hoists himself up to look into your eyes as his cock catches at your entrance for the first time. He pushes himself in just barely, giving you a little more each time as he shallowly rocks into you. He watches, feeling lovestruck, as your breasts rise and fall with each short breath you take as he eases himself deeper into your heat.
When Pero Tovar met you, he didn’t exactly respect you, but he wouldn’t have called you soft. You proved quickly that you were a better warrior than most men he’d met, and despite the roughness and inconveniences of mercenary life, you didn’t complain. In those early days, he’d have scarcely called you a woman at all.
But here you were beneath him, soft and warm, and everything he’d never imagined he could be trusted with. Long ago you reached your hands into his hardened chest, with all of its armor, and gripped his heart with all of the hope and reverence of a devout finding comfort in a rosary. The vice of your wet cunt on his cock was an extension of that. An inescapable binding that he had no desire to leave.
“You feel so good, querida, so tight and perfect against my cock.”
And so you pant, looking cherubic against the sheets with your splayed hair and flushed cheeks, lips plumped from Pero’s incessant kissing. The wet noises coming from between the two of you are obscene, and you love it.
“So good for me, amor, taking everything I have to give you.”
He wouldn’t last long. Not waiting as long as he has, not with you looking, sounding, and feeling the way you do. His thrusts aren’t punishing, but they sure as hell aren’t gentle, as he can only restrain himself from wrecking you for so long. And from the way he’s hitting that place inside that makes you sing, you won’t last either.
“Pero, I’m gonna— mmm I’m gonna cum again!” You keen, calling him back from his animalistic fervor. Pero stares into your eyes with a fire roaring behind his gaze.
“I want you to soak my cock, hermosa. Cum. Give me your pleasure, let me make you mine!”
“God— oh, fuck, I love you—“ you pant as he feels you clench deliciously around him. Any hope he had of holding on has fled now.
“Mi amor, let me cum in you, please, querida—“
“Please, do it Pero,”
You can feel the skin of his hips slap against yours as he pistons himself in and out of you, babbling about how beautiful you are and how good you feel until he can’t stand it anymore.
“Te amo, te amo, te amo!” He growls, ceasing his hips as he fills you with everything he has. You jolt at the sensation before relaxing again, his hot cum painting your walls. His elbows stop him from collapsing right onto you, but he can feel your breasts brush against his chest with every breath the both of you take.
He basks in this moment for a while longer before pulling himself out gently, resolving to clean the both of you properly later. Pero lets himself fall beside you in bed, still breathing a little heavily.
“Come here, querida.”
Pero stares at the ceiling as your weight comes to rest against his chest, warm in ways he cannot describe. The arm around you tightens, as if he wishes to pull you further into him.
“Are you… do you feel alright, mi amor? I didn’t hurt you?”
“Never, Pero. I feel wonderful. Was it ok? For you, I mean. I know I’m… you’re probably not used to being with someone so inexperienced,” you trail off, feeling palpably insecure. He gently puts his hand beneath your chin to coax you into looking up at him from his chest.
“You don’t have to be anything more than what you are to be perfect for me, amor.”

The Promise of Rain, blurb 2
The Promise of Rain (part 2?? technically)
A/n I was not originally planning a second part for this but some people wanted it and this idea came to me and it works better with the context of ‘The Promise of Rain’ but it can technically be read as a stand alone :))
Anyways this might turn into a small series of kinda connected blurbs that are all kind of canon with each other but aren’t necessarily connected except for the reader’s background (the reader is a very sunshine-y person and knows Kaz bc she’s a runaway princess that he was hired to bring back home but she managed to convince him to let her work for him instead)
--
The night air had left me with a chill that made me want nothing more than to have my covers draped over me as I read. I’m normally more sociable after a job, especially after such a simple and safe ending, but a lot of tonight had left me wanting to be alone.
Well, not truly alone. The company of my books is always welcomed, but tonight I can’t seem to find much comfort within the pages. After almost every paragraph, I find myself distracted by gusts of wind and thoughts of the heavy, silver clouds that seem to make up tonight. A part of me longs for the rain. I know it’s ridiculous to expect rain each time I desire some sense of comfort, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want it. Especially when the sky so clearly implies it.
“This must be the fifth time I’ve come here and you’ve been reading.” Kaz’s sudden appearance is almost enough to shake away my lingering somberness.
I roll my eyes slightly, turning my attention back to the page in front of me. “That observation is just a testament to how often you come in here.”
His glare is half hearted, a look I’d find endearing if I was less annoyed. “Where else am I going to find a reminder that good people exist in Ketterdam?”
I think he may have a sixth sense that warns him when I’m treading the line between being annoyed and displeased. Everytime I find myself mad at him in a way that makes me want to avoid him instead of yell at him, Kaz makes some ridiculously heart-melting comment. He steps further into the room. I don’t miss the way he eyes my stretched out legs. Ever since the conversation we had after he woke up after an injury, we’ve fallen into the unmentioned habit of silently inviting the other to stay by moving to make room for them.
It had started the day after the conversation in which Kaz had admitted that he wanted me to stay with him. He had been sitting on the small couch while discussing the details of a job. Shortly after I walked in he made a point of shifting so that he was clearly on one side of the couch. I didn’t think much about sitting down, but Inej and Jesper exchanged a look.
Now, though, I keep my legs stretched out on the bed. He eyes my position on the bed, something grim crossing his features.
“It might rain tonight.”
He knows me so damn well. I hate it. “I hope so.”
I turn my head, analyzing the way the world seems to be on the cusp of something. I stare at the silver clouds until I feel something hard tap my leg. The tap is firm but not painful. I’m quick to look at Kaz as he lowers his cane. The mention of rain had been a distraction.
“You distracted me on purpose.”
“The first rule of the Barrel is to always be prepared.” There’s a slight uptilt to his lips, something I’ve learned to interpret as a sign of teasing.
How is he so easy to be around one second and so cold the next? I resist a smile. “I’ll take notes.”
Kaz ignores my passive aggressive tone. His focus seems to be on my legs that have still not moved to offer him a place next to me. “You wear your emotions too openly.” Great, he’s going to make us talk about it. “What reason could you possibly have to be mad at me?”
“I’m not mad at you.” It’s a partial truth.
His expression harshens. “Don’t lie.”
“I’m not thrilled with you, but I don’t think that’s the same as being mad.”
Kaz lets out a partial sigh. “No, they’re not the same.” Such an early concession feels like a trap. “With you, the first option is worse.” I don’t have anything to say to that. “Is this because of what I said to Jesper?”
My posture straightens on instinct. “He wants your validation more than he’d ever admit and I understand that expressing praise isn’t exactly something you do, but would it kill you to not actively insult him?”
“I didn’t say anything that was wrong. He thinks he’s a gambler but he’s just someone born for losses.” The look I give him must mean something to him, because Kaz is quick to tact on, “That doesn’t make him less valuable of an asset or less relatively dependable.”
I eye him cautiously, the slightest bit of vulnerability playing at his features. “Don’t look at me like that--and don’t tell me that. Jesper’s the one who could use the occasional reminder from you that you hold him to any regard with positive connotations.” His lips press together like he’s thinking about scolding me for scolding him. “It’s only because I know you care more about Jesper than you’d ever let on.”
“Jesper’s esteem can handle the blow.” The curtness of his voice is a blow in its own sense. “And he didn’t exactly deserve to be in my good graces after what he did tonight.”
My sigh is not weighted enough to match Kaz’s newfound fountain of emotion. “We were successful--”
“He left you.” I didn’t know Kaz’s voice was capable of such harshness. “I paired him with you, and he left you--and you almost didn’t make it.” I let the weight of his words take up all the available space in the room, keeping the silence that follows them until some of the heaviness has dissipated. “He could have cost me one of my best people.”
Oh. His harshness, his unwarranted coldness, had been a manifestation of his concern. For me. Guilt knots my stomach. Potential words that may offer Kaz some sort of support raise and die back down in my throat. Kaz turns towards the door.
“Kaz.” He pauses. There’s a long moment in which I think he won’t turn around, but finally, he does. I tuck my legs beneath me, forcing myself to sit up a little straighter. “I told Jesper to leave because I knew the job would have failed if he had been trapped in that room with me.” I drop my gaze towards the window. “I was right, the job was successful, and I got out in time so it was worth it.”
“You risked your safety?” The harsh facet of his being is making its return in full force.
“For the job,” I’m careful to keep my words factual, “It’s what we’re supposed to do.”
Kaz’s jaw locks. “When I said that keeping you near me would ruin you this is what I meant.”
Is it really this big of a deal? I made it out. “Kaz.”
“This wasn’t my best idea.” His words are leached of anything. “You’re going back home. Tomorrow I’ll arrange the voyage myse--”
“Kaz Brekker you may get to live your life doing anything you want but you don’t get to control mine.” My chin raises an inch, an instinctual act of subtle rebellion. “I am not going back there, even if I’m technically indebted to you because you didn’t return me to my father but that does not mean I’ll--”
“I’m not trying to control you.” His words are sharp, boarding on a yell. “A job like that one wasn’t worth you.”
From Kaz, I know those words are heavy. There’s a lot of things I could say to that. I could tell him that I wanted to do something for him. I could say that I appreciate him telling me that. I could even say that in his own way, Kaz giving Jesper a hard time because he left me, is kind of cute in a misguided way. The thing is I think all of these responses will make things worse.
“Kaz,” I keep my voice as steady as possible, “I’m fine, you’re fine, it all worked out.” Scratching the back of my arm, I exhale gently. “I’ll be more careful next time, I promise.”
I watch him carefully, there’s a slight slump to his shoulders as he exhales. Is the fight leaving him so easily? He walks further into the room. “You better.” He sits down in the space I provided for him slowly. “If you’re not you’ll have worse things to worry about than anything that can happen to you on a job.” He moves his cane forward easily, tapping my knee in a swift motion.
I roll my eyes at the mock threat. “They do say that there’s nothing to fear in the Barrel like the Dirtyhands.”
“Remember that.” Any edge in his voice is forced. I fight against a smile that seems to always want to break across my face whenever I think I see something resembling lightness in Kaz.
“I don’t think I could forget anything about you.”
He turns his head slightly. “You should.”
“Too bad.”
Kaz leans his back against the wall, untensing slightly. “I think you just like disagreeing with me.”
There’s no point in lying about it. “Only because when you argue with me you give me this really particular look.”
“A look?”
Adding insult to injury, I smile. “Sometimes you look like you’re too focused on being angry, like you’re compensating for something.”
Kaz lets out a bitter sigh. “Maybe if you were less of a puppy I wouldn’t have to--”
The laugh that escapes is most definitely a mistake. “Did you just call me a puppy?” I don’t give him a chance to reply, laughter taking over again. “I mean this in the least argumentative way possible--but you’re so weird sometimes.”
He rolls his eyes, tensing. “I’m leaving.”
I stifle the rest of my laughter. “No. I was--I was kidding!” I keep my eyes on Kaz, expecting some type of annoyed glare, but his expression is a lot more weighted than that. Odd. “Kaz?”
“You need to be more careful.” I understand Kaz’s pause as something he does before saying something outside of his nature. “I’m not asking you this as a Crow or a Dreg.”
On instinct, my posture straightens. “I promised and I meant it.”
“Sometimes I wish I could believe in Saints,” his voice has taken off a distant quality, almost fragile, “That way I could believe something existed to help what matters.”
Oh. “You never fail, even if I didn’t believe in Saints I’d believe in you.”
“You’re wasting your faith.” The sound of lightning cracking is almost enough to make me jump. The rain finally came.
I know I’ll never convince him that that’s not true. “I don’t think so, but that’s why it’s called faith.”
“I have faith in some things.” His expression is far off.
“Like what?”
Kaz’s eyes find the window. “People that find meaning in the rain.”
Something in my chest swells. “You’re like the rain.”
We sit there in silence, watching raindrops glide down the window. “What were you reading?”
The question has me dropping my gaze to the forgotten book on my lap. “I stole this book from the palace before I left. It was my mom’s favorite, she’s read it so much the spine’s completely cracked and the cover is practically falling off.”
“Hm…” He mumbles. “Read some, the books read in a palace must be worthwhile.”
A part of me wants to tell him that elitism has no place in literature, but his request leaves me frozen. I nod once, turning to the first page of the book. “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife--”
“Your upbringing makes sense--”
“You can’t judge it off the first sentence,” he’s insufferable, “It’s setting up irony, and if you’re going to complain--”
He lets out a conceding sigh. “I’m listening, I’m not interrupting.”
I keep my eyes on him for a second longer than I should. “Okay.” Dropping my gaze back to the book, I adjust my grip on the worn paperback, “Good.”
And then I keep reading.

RQ: He’s upset and needs comforting
Masterlist
Ya'll want angst? Because I have some angst.
Very hurt/comfort
Set platonically and within the group since there was no specification. Hope that’s ok! Sorry it took awhile, it got away from me again. I think this may be a trend.
Scenario under the cut! It’s super long so take caution!
Sky
It took a while for you to notice but eventually you do.
Sky has been acting weird all day.
It was only clipped responses at first, then it was was the lack of attention where Sky would have been the first to comment or act otherwise. What really tipped you off finally was how he seemed to be evading the whole group. Not necessarily stepping away and out of sight but he didn’t interact with anyone and when they approached him, he didn’t make eye contact, seemingly trying to cut the conversation short.
No one has said anything.
You mention it to Twilight about his out of character behavior but he says that it maybe a bad day, or he slept wrong, or some other reason that you stopped listening to because it didn’t make any sense.
Sky was always trying to be friendly no matter his mood and it took a lot to shake him up.
What was eating at the Chosen Hero?
Soon, the uncertainty begins to eat at you too and you wait for night fall, once everyone is asleep to strike.
Strike up a conversation that is.
Sky usually takes the last watch because he’s usually the first one out regardless of what activities for the day so you strive to wake up early.
It works for the most part, your internal clock doing what you want it to do when you blink your eyes open. Part of you begins to drift off again so you sit up and nearly fall asleep that way.
A hand comes up on your back and rubs a small circle. “Nightmare?”
It’s Sky and he’s looking at you with mild concern.
You smile and shake your head. “No. I’m alright but I think I’ll stay up with you if you don’t mind.”
“I wouldn’t mind the company.” He moves out of your space and back to where he sat.
You follow, still groggy from just waking from your slumber but succeed in not stepping on any of your friends or waking them up as well with the added noise. you sit next to the Hero of the Skies with little fan fare and let the moment settle on the both of you before looking skyward.
“Can I ask you something?” You don’t look at Sky and continue star gazing even if they’re a little harder to spot as the sun travels closer for it’s shift.
Sky hums in agreement and follows your gaze upwards.
“Are you ok? You seemed a little off lately.”
Sky doesn’t say anything for the first few seconds and you suspect that maybe he didn’t hear you. With him spacing out so much and the fact that you whispered for the sake of your still sleeping friends, you’re inclined to repeat yourself but Sky answers in time.
“Just thinking a lot, I suppose. Nothing serious.”
“Yeah?” You don’t look his way. This is casual. This is friendly. This is not a big deal. “Rupee for your thoughts?”
“It’s not that interesting.”
You shrug. “Hit me with it anyway. It’s got to be something if it’s throwing you off your rocker. Maybe a new perspective will help clear some of it up?”
Sky frowns at your attempts, once again retreating into his mind. You let the offer hang in the air and let it sink in.
You’re disinclined to bring it up anymore. Your brain is still tired and you’re wondering your effectiveness when half of your thoughts are still muddled with sleep and fatigue. You could have totally slept in some more. What on earth made you think this was a good idea?
“Time mentioned something earlier that I can’t seem to let go of.” Sky begins.
You hum back and let him keep talking.
“I never fought this Ganon guy they all so talk so much about. I fought the God Demise. Before I could land the final blow, he cast a curse on me, on us, that some cycle would continue. His hatred would last forever and my blood line and Zelda’s will be cursed to deal with constant darkness caused by him.” Sky admits, looking now at his intertwined hands. “I finished him soon after that but... I wonder... Am I the cause-... Is this all my fault? Am I the reason that we’re all here right now? That everyone has gone through so much? So many thing happened that should have never occurred. Time and Legend and Wild have all suffered so much.... more than I can possibly ever imagine and it seems like it’s never ending. Everyone starts they’re adventures so young... If I had killed him sooner... If I had just got it over with... If I had just shut him up-”
“Hey.” Your hand lands on his shoulder, cutting off his tirade. “None of this is anyone’s fault. The only people to blame are Ganon and now, this Demise guy. You did what you could. You still got the job done and no one here will ever blame you for what has happened to them or to Hyrule. You were young too... you’re still young. Give yourself a little kindness and understanding, just as you do with everyone here. You didn’t deserve it either. It’s not like you asked to fight a God.”
“Well...”
“Sky you know what I mean.”
“I should have been faster. If-”
“There’s no use in worrying about what if’s.” You shove him slightly. “This is our life. Even if you ask, no one is capable of giving you the answers. I get it. It’s hard to know if the path you took is the right one if it’s all you’ve ever known and you can’t see where the other would have lead... But... Even if horrible things happen, I’m still glad to have met you. I’m glad I met the others. I’m happy to be here with you and with them, and I’m glad that it’s not just me anymore.”
You let the words sink in before leaning down wards and trying to get him to look you in the eye. “I can’t answer your questions. But what happened, happened and the best thing we can do is learn how to play with the cards we’re dealt.”
He take a deep breath and finally looks in your direction. “I know you’re right.”
“Naturally.”
“But I can’t help but feel responsible for being-”
“But you’re not responsible for their pain or any of this Sky. If Ganon has anything to do with Demise then it’s all Demise’ fault. His and his only. Understand?” You stress. “I wish... I wish I could do something more to help.”
Sky places his hand over yours where you still have it on his shoulder and sends you a small smile. “I know. Me too.”
Wild
“Zelda, would you please drop it!” You hear the Champion yell, his voice carrying over the wind and somehow getting louder. “We’ve had this conversation before and it’s not the time to have it again. I have things to do excuse me.”
Wild storms into his house and shuts the door behind, blocking it with all his weight and waits for the indignant shrieking on the other side to go away. The voice ends with a frustrated huff and after a moment of silence, Wild relaxes and steps away from the door and further into the house.
You’re almost scared for the moment. You’ve not known Wild to yell, even less so for a Link to be on bad terms with Zelda no matter the universe. To make matters worse, you were the only that was actually within the house at the moment and you weren’t entirely sure how to proceed from here.
“Trouble in paradise?”
That probably wasn’t the way to go, if you were being honest with yourself.
Wild groans, loud and exaggerated and sits at the table in front of you with as much fan fair.
“Do not...call it that.” He sounds tired.
“Sorry.” You amend with an apologetic shrug. “That-” You reference to the scene outside. “-Didn’t sound ideal.”
“No. It’s not.” Wild sighs and places his face in his hands with his elbows on the table. Bad table manners, a small voice in your head pipes up. But it’s his house, so you bite your tongue.
“Can I ask what it was about?” You hesitatingly venture.
Wild takes a deep breath and slowly lets it out. “I wanted to live a simple life.” He starts. “Everything was over now, right? That was the idea I had. Defeat the evil and get to finally live as a normal man. Maybe explore more of my home and show Zelda all the cool things I’ve seen and done. Everything I knew, everything I remembered is gone and has been gone for a while. No one alive misses it. No one alive even knows about it. This is the world they were born into and they wouldn’t have it any other way. I was prepared to accept that and join them.”
Your face twists in sympathy as you nod along. “I take it that’s the issue here.”
“When I defeated Calamity Ganon and reunited with Zelda, she seemed so full of hope and purpose.” Wild continues. “I saw it in her eyes. She wanted a different thing to what I wanted.”
“And what’s that?”
Wild gives you a pained look. “Zelda wants to try and rebuild the kingdom. Make it into what she remembers it to be. She wants to strengthen relationships with the other nations and reestablish the royal family and a whole lot of other things that I cannot begin to think of how long it would both take and last considering all the damage that already been done. She wants to be Queen. And over what? Hyrule Kingdom is no more. Can’t be a Queen without a kingdom to rule and there’s not a lot of Hylians left that would agree to being ruled over or even enough of them to count as a kingdom to begin with.”
“I suppose it’s not a bad goal to have but you do make a point.” You try and add to the conversation, feeling wildly out of your depth. “Does she know that you-”
“Yes. And she thinks I’m crazy for it. She thinks that I’ve given up on my friends and the past and the future and- uugghhh.” Wild leaned forward and slams his head on the table with enough force to make you jump.
“That look like it hurt.”
“I’ve had worse.”
“I believe you.” A small smile covers your face.
A beat passes before Wild continues to talk with his head still on top of the table. “I don’t think she realizes that I’ve changed after everything. Maybe if I had my memories to begin with, or maybe if I had managed to defeat Calamity Ganon sooner, I’d be more inclined to agree with her, but I’ve experienced so much and done so much that I don’t want to go back to how things were. I’m a different man now.” Wild looks up at you. “She’s different too but I don’t think she’s ready for that conversation.”
“So you’re stuck with this one?”
“Yes.”
“That sucks man.” You shift in your seat. “Anything I can do to help?”
“Not if you can change the past.” He pouts.
“Shame. I’m fresh out of past changing wishing powder.”
“That’s not a thing.” He pouts even more.
You chuckle at the display before sobering up ever so slightly. “Do you want me to talk to her?”
“What good will that do?”
“Maybe a third person party has to step in. It could be that it’s because you’re the one who saying that she isn’t listening.” You shrug. “I think you’re right but I’m willing to give her chance to tell her side of the story while you cool down in here. I can be a distraction so you can sneak out quietly and she won’t know you’re here anymore! It’s a win win! And maybe you guys can come to an agreement when you both see each other again with new perspectives.”
Wild gives you another tired look and leans into his hand. “I doubt it would work. Zelda is incredibly stubborn, one of the most stubborn people I’ve ever met. But if you think it would help, I won’t stop you. I’ve run out of arguments and I’m done hearing hers.”
“Ok.” You say getting up and moving around the table. “I think it’s worth a shot. There’s a saying where I’m from that goes, ‘it’ll all be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, then it’s not the end.’”
You give Wild a hug around his shoulder and squeeze him tight. “I have faith that you’ll pull through and get to live peacefully, but until then, you’ve got us on your side ok?”
He leans in your direction and wraps his arms around your own. “I know. I figured as much.”
“Good man.”
“I’m definitely sneaking out of here though.”
“That’s fair. Go hide.”
“I will... And thanks for listening to me. I didn’t mean to go off like that.”
“That’s what I’m here for.”
Four
"I'm sorry, what?" Four snaps his head up to stare at the Champion.
"What?" Wild tilts his head. "What? There's no stuff in the grass in my Hyrule. Just crickets and lizards...you know normal stuff. I don't know why there's tools and rupees in all of yours."
"You don't-" Four cut himself off with a click of his teeth, a piece in his mind clicking into place. He stands suddenly, clearly upset and tense as he processes the information.
"Four?" You call out to him but he doesn't respond to you, nor does he look back.
"Four!" Hyrule calls as well. "Where are you going?"
No reply.
"I'll go with him. Just in case." You stand up in a rush and nearly knock over the equipment at your feet in the process. "Don't wait up for us."
You follow him.
Four is fast and quiet and it takes very little time to lose him- or rather, for him to lose you.
Before you knew it, there's no trace of him and there's nothing within the forest that would give you a hint to his whereabouts.
"Great." You hiss and look around.
Nothing.
"Four!" If he won't show himself, you'll just have to make some noise. "Four! Four! Show me a sign so I know you're not dead!"
You wait.
"Don't make me get Wolfie!"
Nothing.
"Four!" You scream a little louder and begin to run. Now that you've said it out loud, despite being a joke in the beginning, the thought of Four being dead somewhere spikes your panic and anxiety and it fuels your quest.
It's only been a few minutes and Four can handle himself just fine but you don't think about that.
"FOUR!"
"Why are you screaming?" A voice come just beyond you.
You sprint toward it and find Four in a small clearing, crouched down and appearing to hold something in the palm of his hand.
"I was calling you." You don't know how you find it in you scold him. "A response would have been nice."
"Sorry." He shrugs. "I was having a conversation, it would be rude to drop it."
You get on your tip toes to look around him and find nothing. "With... With what?"
Four looks down into his hand and places it, ever so gently, on the ground, pausing and standing up to see you. "You can't see them?"
"See who?" You step over to him. "Four? Are you ok?"
His face twists in annoyance before sighing. "I'm fine."
"No offence, but I doubt that."
"It... a group of creatures that can only be seen by good children. They were important on my quests and have helped me greatly. Children usually stop seeing them around the time when they turn sixteen."
"Would it be easy for me to chalk it all up to magic?" You bit your lip.
"Probably. If it'll help you sleep at night." Four sighs and looks down to the ground, a small smile on his lips before it twists into a painfully and... he looks seconds from crying.
"I did so much to help them... and they helped me.... They leave gifts in the grass to help travelers and us heroes alike and yet... Wild says it doesn't happen anymore..." Four gulps and looks away from you and what ever is by his foot. "They wouldn't stop.... They're incredibly kind and hospitable and... There's no reason for them... Why are they gone?"
"Four." You reach out and place a hand on his shoulder.
"What happens to them?" His Adam's apple bobs a bit as he sucks in a breath. "It just means there was no one to help them."
"Oh Four." You pull him into a hug and nearly crush him with it.
"There's nothing I can do to help them, is there?" He sniffles into your chest.
"No, I... I don't think so Four. Not that far out into the future." You shake your head and begin to rub circles on his back.
You don't think he's crying but he might be fighting it because he does begin shaking.
He doesn't say anything else and you're loath to let him go when he's so emotionally charged. So you hold him. You hold him for as long as he needs and you wait for him to pull away first.
When he does, you keep your hands on his shoulders and he stays within your reach. Four begins to take deep calming breaths with his eyes closed and you instinctually run your hands through his bangs and push some of the loose hairs from his face.
Minutes continue to pass and the sounds of nature around you fill the void.
"I'm sorry." You say. "I wish I could help you but I don't know how."
Four nods and rubs his eyes. "I don't doubt that. Thank you. I'll be ok."
You don't think he's ready to go back to the group just yet, not after all that. "Tell me more about these friends of yours. How did they help you? How did you help them? What are they exactly?"
It earns you a small laugh and he grins up at you with a watery smile. "Sit down. And let me tell you about the Picori."
Twilight
“You almost died and for what?!” Twilight screams at Wild for the umpteenth time.
It startles you to hear his voice reach such volumes but you’re inclined to agree with him this time around. After Wild’s stunt with taking a hit to the head for Wind, you’d been on the look out for his more... self sacrificing behavior. You knew he wouldn’t think twice to do it and you tried to make it so there wouldn’t even be a chance for him to make such a decision.
This time though, in this last fight, you took your eyes off of him for only a moment and that’s when he broke his streak of uneventful fights.
Twilight, of course, is livid and has no regard for the poor creatures of the forest that have to endure his tirade as he unleashes his concern and worry in the form of rage and over exaggerated gestures.
When Hyrule finishes healing your more minor wounds, you slink away from the soon to be screaming match since Wild is very much still conscious, if a little roughed up. You don’t intended to stray as far as you go but you don’t find it in yourself to care for the time being.
Being around so many people for so long is taxing. You make the executive decision to remove yourself for the time being while tensions are high, to both cool off and to avoid getting hit in the crossfire.
There’s a small creek nearby, you find, and decide to make a small space for yourself there until dinner comes rolling around. The birds and the babbling waters calm your soul and snuffle out the last of the adrenaline. You don’t know how long you sit there, but you can faintly hear the screaming match in the distance that you dipped out of.
You don’t regret it.
More time passes and you find that you may or may not have taken a small nap in the meantime. If the position of the sun is anything to go by.
Despite the pain in your back from sleeping against a tree, the slight ache in your neck from the angle you slept in, you feel better. Clearer, even.
You hope your absence wasn’t entirely noticed but you can’t seem to regret leaving either.
Footsteps creep closer to you and you huddle into a small ball out of habit to avoid detection.
It’s Twilight.
He walks near the creek and takes a heavy seat next to it. He looks both pale or red faced at the same time but exhaustion is laced in his entire body from what you can tell.
He doesn’t notice you.
You uncurl and set your legs out in front of you. Leaning forward a little, as quietly as you can, you see that he’s upset. It doesn’t surprise you. But seeing as you don’t how to deal with an upset Twilight and you can’t really sneak away without crossing his line of sight or making any miniscule noise, you still yourself and wait.
And wait.
And wait.
Twilight calls your name. Quietly and hollow- like he’s not all there. Or in the way one would talk to a memory.
It’s immediately unsettling. Both in how he sounds and how he knew you were there without you doing anything. But you suppose Twilight can just sense things like that from times to time. It’s certainly not the first time he’s done it.
“I’m here.” You reply.
“How long?”
“A few hours I think. Longer than you were here that’s for sure.” You shrug and slowly crawl out of your hidey hole. “I think I fell asleep....The sun wasn’t over there when I first got here.”
Twilights hums in what you think is agreement but it’s really only a sound. “It’s a nice spot.”
You smile. It’s tense and little fake, but he’s not looking at you so you don’t care for authenticity. “Good thing it’s big enough for the both of us huh?”
“Yeah.” He looked into the distance again, noting that the sun is beginning to set and takes a deep breath. “Do you ever feel a strange sadness as dusk falls?”
“Can’t say that I have.” You move closer to him, aiming to sit by his side. “I’ve always enjoyed sun sets and I find them calming to watch but hearing someone finding them sad is a new one. Do you feel sad as dusk falls?”
He hums again. “They say it’s the only time their world interacts with ours.”
“Whos?”
“Lingering spirits I suppose...” Twilight tilts his head upwards before twisting it to look at you. “It’s nothing. I’m just reminiscing about my life before my adventure is all. My... father told me those words and I haven’t forgotten them since.”
You hum this time and lean back to mirror him. “Wanna tell me why?”
“That Champion reminds me so much of myself and yet... he’s ten times worse.” Twilight falls backwards with a soft thump. “I know why he does it but I...”
“You care about him and don’t want to see him hurt.” You shrug. “It’s not exactly a new concept.”
“Tell that to him.”
“Maybe I will. He gets just as upset as you do when this happens, you know.” You shift your weight to make it easier to stand up later.
“Does he? You’d think that he’d get the point to stop doing then.” He growls.
“Maybe he’s scared of losing more friends.” You blurt before you can stop yourself. That was something Wild told you in confidence and while he didn’t say you couldn’t tell anyone- that was kinda implied.
Twilight stills for a moment, the fight leaving him again in a single breath as he considers your words. They don’t seem to be new news to him.
Wild is pretty close to Twilight...Maybe he already knew.
“I still think I’m entitled to not like it.” He settles.
“It’s not he’s asking you to be ok with it. I know I’m not.”
“I guess that’s fair then.” Twilight sits up again and stands up in one fluid motion that you envy. With a turn on his heel, he holds his hand out to you to take.
You take it and feel him effortlessly lift you off of the ground with that one hand.
You don’t comment on it.
“Come on.” He says. “I’m going to need you for moral support.”
“Why?”
“If I yelled in front of him of the whole group, I should apologize to him in front of the whole group.” He admits and wraps his arm around your shoulders. “But I might need an excuse to get close to him again after all the things I’ve said.”
“I get your desert and you’ve got yourself a deal. I left to not get involved and here you are... involving me.” You tease. “I demand payment.”
“One desert? I can do that.”
Hyrule
“I can’t do this.” You snap your head to the sound of the voice and see Hyrule with his arms cross and shaking.
“What? What’s happening? Hyrule?” You step closer to him as you’re the only one within arms reach. “What do I need to do? How can I help?”
“There’s nothing. Nothing you can do, that can make this better.” Hyrule takes one ground step before throwing his arms down. “Don’t you see them? With all their tools and experience and then there’s- me. Just me. Some magic later and a old man with a sword and I found myself trying to save my princess and defeat some evil, but these guys...”
You look around, trying to see if Legend or Sky are close enough to give you back up, or better yet, take over. You suppose it’s better than a panic attack but it’s so left field that you’re stunned and floundering to catch this hot potato of a conversation.
He keep talking.
“For all that is good and holy, they are heroes. Do you see them? Some of them have training, and families and skills and I....was just a boy in a grave yard. How can I even compete with them? I don’t, that’s how. But how can they consider me an equal? When I was in town and listened to the elders and their stories, they would tell me of a legendary hero from the past who courageously defended our home until the very end and who was virtually undefeated in all his adventures. And then I meet Legend....and he’s so much cooler than all those stories combined.”
“Link.” You call out to him and back to the real world. “You need to slow down for me honey because you’re too fast for me to keep up. What do you mean how can they see you as an equal? You defeated Ganon just as they did. You stood up for your home just as they did. You did it all on your own just as they did. Why wouldn’t they consider you an equal? No one cares about where you’re from, if that’s what you’re concerned about.”
“But they can do so many things even without the sword!” He exclaims. “They all have a place to go to, a person who cares about them, a title or a skill and a world that’s not on the brink of collapse-”
“Ok, whoa, hey.” You step into his space and take his face into your hands, bringing it up for him to look you in the eyes.
“I have no idea what brought this up but I won’t stand for anyone talking bad about you. And that includes you. We... can talk about your home with clearer heads later, ok? Maybe the others can help with that when we get there, yeah? And well....” You’re sinking. You don’t know what to do with all this information and you have even less of an idea about how to address it.
“Good golly, when it rains, it pours with you lot, doesn’t it?” You hiss under your breath and bite the bullet. With a strong grip, you wrap your arms around the Traveler and pull him close. You try to keep your grip strong without fear of hurting him, but it hits you then how thin he is. How light he actually is. You can feel the hint of armor under his tunic and it does little to quell your fears.
“Clearly there’s a lot on your mind. And... I’m probably not the person to help you through this. If you want to talk about not belonging though, I’m free to listen. I’m the only one here who’s not a Link, if you haven’t noticed.” You try to joke but it falls a little flat. “You though... You belong here with all of us... all of them... And if you need more convincing then I’m bringing this up with Legend who’s is over the moon proud of you and what you can do and he told me himself that he couldn’t be happier to have you as his successor-”
“Really?”
“Not in those exact words admittedly,-” You gulp as the word vomit continues to bubble out of you in waves of panic. “-but I know that’s what he meant because he doesn’t stop talking about how cool you are.”
“Hm.”
“And everyone has a different background, ok? Everyone has skills and people that the others don’t have. That’s ok. It’s not a competition. I get worried that one day you guys are going to create some game out of all your trauma. Like... who had it worse and just go around in a circle listing off all the things that happened to each of you... Whoever runs out of things to say or can’t think of something as bad or worse than the others is out. Last man standing wins.”
“Don’t give them ideas.” You feel him chuckle. It’s breathless and small and it doesn’t reach your ears despite your closeness but you feel it.
“Good thing it’s just you and me right now.” You sigh a little in relief and loosen the hug. “Look, just.....whatever you think you can’t do, just know that there is someone who is confidently doing it wrong right now. In the group or not, just keep your eyes and watch. They don’t plan on doing it better either and people are celebrating them for it. Please believe in your own excellence as much as they believe in their mediocrity.”
“Big words.”
“You’re awesome for trying. Others are not and don’t plan to. You’re already better than them.” You amend, stepping away to look him in the eye again. “The group can’t do magic like you can. That’s all you. They all have items sure but no one can do what you do... and you’re self taught, right? That’s incredible! You have just as much as a reason to be here as the others. I swear it.”
Hyrule sighs and gulps. He doesn’t believe you. It’s not enough.
You knew it wouldn’t be and it’s definitely doesn’t scratch the tip of the iceberg of the bomb he just dropped on you but... step by step. Little by little. you have a plan.
“Screw it. Let’s catch up with Wind and Warrior and get them to tell you how awesome you are, since you won’t listen to me. And if you’re still a nonbeliever then we move on to the next pair. We’ll go down the line if we have to.” You nod and grab his hand, beginning to drag him along.
He laughs after you, a little hysterical and in disbelief. “You’re crazy.”
“That is not new information.” You reply, hiding your grin. “I say it’s Hyrule loving hours and I’m gonna get everyone to join.”
“You’re not joking are you.” It’s a statement. He already knows the answer.
“Nope!”
Legend
It was your turn on watch for the night. In an hour or two you were supposed to wake the Veteran for his shift and finally catch some sleep.
The others snored and slept away without a care in the world. It was just you and cackling fire that was active but you’d kill for something to help your mind get passed the boredom.
Anything but monsters or an attack that is. You’d hate to jinx your good luck so far.
In the corner of your eye, while fighting to keep your head up, you see Legend shift. Not necessarily unusual. You’re inclined to ignore it.
But then he shifts again, whimpering like he’s been hurt and a white knuckled grip on the blanket.
You still and begin to wonder what’s your level of care here.
Part of you, in kindness, wants to go wake him. The lack of sleep seems more merciful than letting him suffer a prison of his own making.
But you also don’t know how he’ll react.
You know he’d hate to be seen as weak for whatever normal reason and he’s been inclined to wake up swinging in the right circumstance.
Twilight suffered a broken nose for the whole night because he was disinclined to wake up Hyrule or take a potion.
Not you’d make the same decision and suffer the whole night in the same manner but it certainly fails to sound appealing.
Just as your about to appeal to your better nature and force yourself to go wake him before it gets worse, he shoots up into a sitting position with a strangled scream. The job seems to have been done for you- but in the worse way.
He’s breathing hard with his hand gripping his chest. Legend begins to frantically look around and slowly begins to piece together where he is and what’s happened. He never looks behind him, where you are, before running a hand through his hair a little harder than you think reasonable and getting to his feet.
You cough slightly, leaning away from the fire and back into previous position. You hadn’t realized you leaned into his direction as you watched him, inches from putting your face into the flame.
He startles at the sound and whips around, one hand poised to reach the sword he’s not equipped with.
“It’s just me.” You wave. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.”
He calms somewhat and you can see his jaw flex. “Well, goodnight to you.”
His voice is croaked- from disuse or an overwhelming emotion, you’re not sure.
“For me maybe. But you? That was quite a scare you gave me as well.” You play it off. You can at least pretend that you weren’t watching him. That you would have saved him a little earlier and took your sweet time doing it. You offer a peace offering to your morals. “Want to talk about it?”
“What’s there to talk about?” He snaps, furiously rubbing his face. “It’s nothing new. We all deal with it one way or another.”
“True. But it’ll be easier to let it go, and let the experience float up into the air and never return. Otherwise it’ll fester and grow.” You shrug. “But I won’t force you. I know you’re not exactly fond of me.”
Legend glares into the fire as you talk and refuses to look at you. Once you finish though, he moves his head away, still not in your direction but visually drops more tension from his shoulders.
He doesn’t say anything.
“There’s a spot next to me with your name on it if you want it.” You offer. “A little company wouldn’t hurt.”
He takes more time to respond and you resolve to go back to staring at the fire.
A moment or two passes and you hear the faint sound of crunched foliage. It takes of your will power to not look up as he approaches and even more so when he decidedly sits next to you.
The fabric of his tunic brushes your leg for a minute and it strikes you odd that he sat that close despite the rest of the log at his disposal.
It must have been bad if he wants to be close to someone right after. The thought enters your mind. Once it’s there you don’t chase it away and instead casually lean back with your hand behind you.
If the angle causes you to lean closer to him in the process, you don’t say anything.
And if Legend notices, he doesn’t say anything either.
A moment of time passes in silence, the only sounds through the whole forest are crickets and a passing owl with the occasional whisper through the trees.
“How do you do it?” He asks.
“Do what?” You tilt your head in his direction.
He’s still not looking at you.
“Keep going.”
The answer shocks momentarily but you’re not surprised that it’s coming from him out of the whole group. “Legend-”
“I’m tired.” He says instead. “I hate this. I hate that sword. I hate that pig demon. I hate that I can’t be done.”
You hand comes up to his shoulder and you force him to look at you.
He lets you and he looks up to you with tears building up in his eyes and for a moment you’re struck by the odd balance of how old he sounds but how young he looks- is.
You stuck floundering for a response to answer him with but he asks one more thing. “Why can’t I be done?”
You pull him into a hug before you can stop yourself. “I don’t know. I don’t know Link.”
You find yourself wanting to cry as well once Legend collapses into the hug. He’s not hugging you back but he’s being held for the first time in... you don’t know how long. Your grip tightens.
“But I do know is that you’re not alone. Not anymore. And maybe....maybe this is the final fight. That’s why we’re all together right? A darkness so evil ahead that every hero is required and then....rest. For each and every one of you.”
You sniffle, carding your fingers through his hair without a moments hesitation. “If it’s not then I’ll fight everything for you from then on. I’ll take your place you hear me. I’ll take your job and title and you won’t have to do this anymore.”
“I’m the Hero of Legend. That’s not exactly an easy thing-”
“No. I am the hero now. I’ve decided it.” You hide the tears in his hair to the best of your ability.
Legend snorted, loud and wet but you elected to ignore it just as you were ignoring the ever growing wet spot on your shoulder. “I don’t think that’s how it works.”
“It does now. I said so.”
A beat.
“...Ok.” He sniffled and rubbed his head on your shirt. He took a deep breath and exhaled, letting the night take over the atmosphere again. “Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
“Don’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t tell anyone.”
He nods once, definitive and final. Your expecting him to let go now and return to his roll, already electing to take over his shift as well and just push through the next day.
Except he doesn’t.
Legend calls your name, testing the waters and lifts his head up ever so slightly. “...It’s not that I’m... not... fond of you-”
“Save it for a rainy day.” You grin. “I think you’ve had your fill of emotions for the night.”
He nods and eventually slips into sleep with his head on your chest, no doubt lulled by your heartbeat.
With tearful eyes, you stare back into the fire.
Time
Time marched from the stunned group the same way a parent does after making a scathing remark instead of a lecture.
You know the one.
“I’m not mad. Just disappointed.”
The poor boys suddenly didn’t know what to so with themselves or how to get back into Time’s good graces.
You felt for them and their awkward meandering through the camp. So, with your pride swallowed, you follow in the vague direction where Time went off to and decided to at least talk him down.
He is... decidedly harder to find than you previous imagined.
Just as your starting to think the Old Man doesn’t want to be found, you hear subtle swing. It’s to your left and it sounds heavy.
So naturally you follow it
Which leads you to a small clearing just beyond a bunch of bushes.
Time is there, full armor still on and swinging his giant sword forcefully, each swing stronger than the last. It’s as if it weighs only as much as Four. You’ve wondered in the past what it would like if he decided to actually throw the smallest ones of the group but out of fear, do not voice your ideas.
Just because Time won’t doesn’t mean that the others won’t try.
It’s hard being the responsible one when there are nine Links to take care of, each as much as a gremlin as the last. It must be hell on Time’s back to carry the group.
You see where he’s coming from and yet...
“You can stand to be a little more patient with them.”
The words are out of your mouth before you can actually stop them.
Time stops abruptly, in both the figurative and literal sense, before the man turns to you with that same face of neutral disappointment.
“They are heroes.”
“They are also children, Time. I think that it’s because they are heroes that they deserve to act their age every now and then.”
“Slacking won’t divert the evil away from our home.”
“Running face first into the problem won’t solve it either.” You sigh and walk up the man. He tenses as you approach and slowly lets his weapon down. The Hero of Time is an intimidating creature but you refuse to let that dissuade you.
“Look, I know why you’re upset. I get it. It’s hard to get a job done when you feel like you’re the only one it’s important to... But have a little faith in our group. Please.” You plead and stop right in front of him. You have to look up at him slightly due to the angle but he was forced to acknowledge you here.
His arms cross and he opens his mouth to respond but you cut him off.
“You’re right, they are heroes and there is a job to be done and an evil to be done away with. But they were even younger when they earned the title. They still vanquished the darkness even for their age. You have to trust that they will do the same here.” You reach up and put your hands on his shoulders, getting onto your tip toes to look him in the eye better. “And they will. Because they are heroes. Because they have the spirit of courage. Because they are Link... Just like you.”
He softens his stance ever so slightly but he still doesn’t look pleased.
“It’s not easy I know.” You get down again. “But they look up to you. I think all of them do. And I can’t stand to see how hurt they look when you get upset when they act their age. It’s not like they can help it.”
He takes a deep breath and uncrossed his arms. He takes a minute to respond. Time stared at you intensely before he drops all the tension in his body and finally lets his weapon go. A single hand comes up to pat your head.
“Let’s head back to camp.”
He says nothing else and continues to walk past you and back the way you came.
You don’t ignore the sense of accomplishment and refuse to dampen it when you catch the tiniest slivers of a smile before he turns away from you completely.
Wind
You’re lying peacefully on the dirt when you hear someone sit beside you with more power than would ever be needed.
You don’t open your eyes for the sake of the other person, not really thinking much of it and even forgetting that they were there until you heard the smallest of sniffles.
Now, you’re sitting straight up with wide and concerned eyes locking directly onto the crying form of your beloved pirate.
It’s hard not to feel for him and while you’re not sure what sprung this up, you don’t have it in you to turn him away, or to ignore that he was upset.
Neither of you say anything and you’re almost afraid it make the picture in front of you a little too real.
Instead, you move yourself closer to him and open up your arms.
Wind doesn’t hesitate to throw himself onto you and let his body sag with unwanted emotion.
As sobs silently rack his body, you begin to feel yourself rock back and forth for both his comfort and yours. Soon you start running your hands through his hair and rub small circles on his back.
He cries for a long time and never once gives you a clue why.
You don’t ask either.
Still, once the moment has passed, you continue to hold onto him. He doesn’t make any moves to let go of you any time soon and you’re happy to be there for as long as he’ll let you.
That doesn’t stifle your concern over the cause but you’re loath to bring it up.
Minutes pass with the boy in your arms and it’s only when you shift positions, does he look up at your face. His eyes aren’t as red anymore with the amount of time that’s passes since he’s stopped crying but his face is still a little puffy and his cheeks are both stained in tears and incredibly red.
A small smile creeps onto your face when you look back at him. “Feel better?”
“A little.” He admits and sniffles the last of the tears away, wiping his face with his sleeve. “Thanks.”
“For you? Anytime.”
Warrior
It struck you as odd that it was dinner time the group seemed to be missing someone.
Earlier that day the group had split up to take down some troublesome monsters on the border of some tiny town defenseless town and that was that.
It didn’t seem like big deal nor was it a particularly hard thing to do. The monsters weren’t infected and they didn’t have numbers on their side so your group took care of the pests in a matter of moments.
And yet, when everyone regrouped there was a visible tension.
Some thing had happened on the other side of the fight and no one wanted to fess up, even less so when Time mentioned it.
It worried you.
Now, as it stood the tension was still there but Warrior didn’t want to come out of the wood work. He had left earlier claiming to need to check up on his appearance and no one had questioned him. No one offered to go with him.
It was always dangerous to go alone.
“Hey, has anyone seen Warrior?” You glance around again, hoping it was just a miscount on your part. “It’s been awhile since he left.”
“He takes his sweet time.” Legend snapped. “And you know how narcissistic he is. He’s probably trying to get every single little hair in the right place and working out every little blemish in his stupid uniform-”
“I’m going to look to him.” You stand, placing your cooling food down by your foot. You don’t know what happened or what caused it but at least an idea begins to form. “It’s been too long regardless. Keep my food warm for me, yeah?”
You don’t wait for a response and walk away into the tree line where you think Warrior might be.
“It’s getting dark. Be careful.” Someone calls from behind you, mouth clearly full of food.
“Yes sir.” You reply.
You march on.
When you’re sure you’re far enough away, you begin to call out to Warrior.
It takes a minute to get any results but you’re starting to worry about your friend. The sun is lowering in the horizon as time goes by and you’re beginning to feel silly and frustrated and-
“I’m here.” A tired voice replies.
“Oh thank goodness.” You cross the distance between you two. “I was really starting to worry.”
Warrior puts on a brave face and a small smile that doesn’t reach his eyes greets you when you stop in front of him. His look a little puffy and you think his eyes might be a little red but it easily be the lighting- or lack there of.
“Are you ok?”
“Obviously.”
You doubt him and it must have shown on your face because he immediately begins walking away. “Well look at the time. Crazy how fast the sun goes. Let’s get back to the group and eat. I’m starving-”
You grab his wrist as he pasts you and get a good look at him. “Are you ready to go back to the group? They can wait a little longer if you want them too.”
It irritated you that it’s come to this. How no one went to check on him. How no one offered to go with you. How no one seemed bothered by this. How long that he was alone dealing with something that’s been bothering him. How it took you so long to do something.
“No. It’s fine.” He says. Lying. It must have really bothered him, usually he’s better than this. “It’s about time to head back anyway.”
“They can wait.” Your grip tightens. “The sun can wait. We’re not obligated to be there. What’s wrong? ...If you want to talk about it that is...” You trail off uselessly. It only occurred to you that near the end that he may not even speak about with you. You weren’t the closest in terms of grouping but you can’t stand the thought of someone hurting alone.
“I’m fin-”
“You look like you were crying.” You cut him off. “If you don’t want to talk about it with me, that’s fine, just say it. But you might need more time before you head back anyway if you actually want them to believe you when you say you’re fine.”
He sighs and runs his hand through his hair.
“Warrior?”
“Nothing. It’s nothing.”
“If it bothers you then it’s not nothing.” You push. “But....fine. I won’t force you to talk to me. I just wanted to see if you were ok... You’re not but it’s better than seeing you bleeding I suppose.” You grit your teeth, annoyed by the lack of results. You did tell him that he didn’t have to talk to you and you don’t hurt him further but part of you wants to fix this. Even if you don’t know what it is, your heart calls for justice at his pain.
But he is unwilling.
“Camp is this way by the way.” You mention, looking at the ground. “You were actually farther away than I thought, so it’s a bit of a walk.”
“I just think it’s easier for people when I’m not around.”
You still and slowly turn to face him.
He’s looking at the ground as well, unable to say it and look you in the eye. It’s not what you were expecting and you’re not sure how to follow after that.
It’s a rare moment of vulnerability for him- even rarer that he’s showing it to you and you don’t want to squander the show of trust.
“Back home...there was a lot of... attention on me. A lot of blame... for starting the war. Or at least being the cause of it.” He admits, scuffing his shoe against the dirt. A little bit kicks up and sticks to the toe. He does nothing about it. “People listened to what I had to say because I was some destined hero. At first I didn’t think anything of it because I had thought it was one big mistake and sooner or later people were going to see that I was just some soldier not worth the time of day. It happened to be pure luck that Impa got it right when she gave me this uniform. Zelda made me a captain because of it and suddenly I had all of these men I had to give orders to. And if anything failed or if we lost, it would all have fallen on me. The blame, the guilt, the responsibility of the war...and then we found out why Cia was even opening these portals to begin with-”
You hug him.
“Please don’t cry.” You say into his chest. Your throat is tight and it a little hard to breath but you power through. “I’m not good at this. I never have been.”
“I’m not going to cry. It’s not worth crying.”
“I’ll cry for you then.” You admit and hug him tighter. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. It was no ones fault.” Warrior hugs you back and rests his head on top of yours. His voice seems a little tight too and you’re sorry for all the things that he must have gone through.
You hug him for as long as you deem appropriate before letting your arms go lack and stepping away.
Or... at least you try to.
Warrior suddenly has a grip on you and refuses to let you leave.
“Please... Just stay a little longer.”
You do.

Eunoia
The Mantis crew decides to take a well deserved break. Word Count: 2422
Warning(s): straight fluff, short Requested: yep This can be read for a female, male, non binary, or any other reader.
Eunoia is the shortest English word containing all five main vowel graphemes. It comes from the Greek word εὔνοια, meaning "well mind" or "beautiful thinking”. It is also a rarely used medical term referring to a state of normal mental health. In rhetoric, eunoia is the goodwill a speaker cultivates between himself and his audience, a condition of receptivity. In book eight of Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle uses the term to refer to the kind and benevolent feelings of goodwill a spouse has which form the basis for the ethical foundation of human life.

Cal is actually not as observant as people think he is. You know because you’ve been leaning against his doorway, watching him, for about two minutes now and he hasn’t noticed a thing.
Maybe if you were in his position you’d be the same. That seems about right. He’s hunched over his desk with the lamp on bright, tinkering with something that you can only assume is for BD-1. He’s probably lost in thought. Maybe he’s dreaming of better days. Or maybe he’s just trying to figure out which wires and bolts connect to which. There’s no way to be certain from your position. He’s the mechanic, you are not.
So why have you been watching the redhead from his doorway for three minutes now? A simple answer. He is your friend, and you enjoy his company. Even when he’s not giving you attention, completely unaware to your presence in moments like this one, lost in his own world, it’s his warmth that really counts. Cal is such a relaxing bout of fresh air compared to everything else in the galaxy, in your life. It’s like being at a great party, but whether you enjoy it or not, stepping outside and tasting the air and the smell of something wonderful. Even if you had a day full of talking to people and had become burned out, talking to Cal would have been no problem at all. Maybe in a way that makes him your favorite person.
Yeah, maybe.
BD-1 jumps onto Cal’s desk. His head looks at the boys hands, cocking about as if observing. Then he meets your gaze, only to find a smile. One index finger raises to your lips, prompting the little droid to stay quiet about this, before you turn away and head towards the main part of the ship.
“Where’s Cal?” Greez gruffs upon seeing you. He’s shaking spice onto a steaming brown plate, which puts a pep in your step. Greez’s cooking always makes life better.
“In his room,” you answer. You turn from the doorway to the counter, where something hot does cause stringy, swirly puffs of air to waft upwards from a large metal container. With your back to Greez, you pull a plate for yourself and begin hulling it full of food. Some sort of rice or grain?
“Hmph, that reminds me,” the Latero begins mid-chew. “Me and Cere was talking about taking a vacation.”
“Vacation?” you scrunch your eyebrows and put the lid back on the container. “Where to?”
“The beach maybe?”
You scoff as you turn around and lean on the counter. One hand holds the plate while the other uses your index finger to prod at the mush. It smells alluring. The individual pieces of it stick to your skin. They burn and sting, but it’s so small it doesn’t bring much of a reaction. “I don’t know a lot of beaches.”
“Well, ya know,” Greez shrugs. “Just a thought.”

It was more than just a thought. Six days later, the Mantis touches down on Scarif. But first there’s the issue of landing.
“Watch that tree,” you point, leaning over Cal’s shoulder as he co-pilots beside Greez. A second later, the ship gives a great rock and the palm tree crunches beneath it. “You weren’t watching the tree.”
“Sorry,” Cal offers sheepishly.
“What?” Greez says. He’s the one in main control of the ship. He’d never let Cal take over the whole thing. “What he do?”
“Ran over a tree,” you snort.
“Cal!” Cere scolds, turning around in her chair.
“I said I was sorry!” Cal defends.
“I’m telling the wookies what you did,” you whisper.
“Don’t,” Cal whispers back, though it’s still desperate.
The Mantis parks itself in a field of tropical emerald on the cuff of a beach. The sand is white, the waves cyan and royal blue and sloshing. There’s several beaches on the planet. All of which are very beautiful. Would be a true shame if anything were to ever happen to Scarif. It’s so different compared to so many other planets in the galaxy- not occupied by Imperial forces or scumbags.
Greez waves everybody off. Cere exits first. Cal is ahead of you, but he steps to the side and rather gentlemanly insists, “You first.”
You hum and move past him. The Scarif air hits your face with a warm breeze. It smells of salt and water and some kind of flower. The horizon goes orange and pink and salmon with the setting sun. It is... serene. It nearly knocks you off your feet. It takes his voice to realize Cal is beside you at the bottom of the ramp.
“Woah,” he offers simply, in as much awe as yourself.
“Woah,” you repeat in agreement. It’s still for a second. “Come on. Let’s join them. Or else I’ll have to cast a Jedi mind trick on you.” Your fingers wiggle up and down by Cal’s face for dramatic effect.
Cal rolls his eyes. “Shut up,” he utters with a push on your elbow, urging you forward into the sand.
Okay, so maybe you like Cal more than just a friend. But who can blame you? Things had been feeling different between you two lately. You’d always gotten along pretty smoothly. You made up for skills that Cal seemed to lack himself, and his abilities- human and nonhuman- never ceased to amaze you. He was a friend. And then, when you tended to the stab wound he’d gotten from Vader, there was a moment where you held each others eyes. After that, the joking became more constant. The little touches on the shoulders and elbows and forehead taps happened more often. And you started watching him from his doorway sometimes and... and at some point you just caught feelings.
Cal Kestis seemed to feel the same, but who could really say? No use poking that bear right now.
The sand is soft, even beneath your boots. Cere stands in front of the water, just breathing in the air. The light breeze makes her vest ripple. It’s tempting to just join her.
“Gotta say,” you hear a familiar voice say from your left and below. “We picked a nice place.”
“Maybe we should stay a while,” you joke, though you secretly hope for it, to Greez.
“Yeah,” Greez rolls his eyes. “Until this moron gets us into trouble again!”
Cal perks up. “What did I do?”
“Anybody who can lift things with their mind is gonna attract some attention, kid. You just brought it on us.”
“So true,” you jump on with a smirk to Cal.
“Alright,” Cal turns away towards the beach. You position yourself so you’re closer to him, and Greez takes the opportunity to waddle away further ahead to waves.
“Sorry for bursting your bubble, Cal,” you continue with a smug grin. “Maybe in the next life, don’t be born with force powers? Just a suggestion.”
“You think you’re so funny,” Cal tells you, though he’s smiling too. His pale green eyes spare a glance at you, thick lashes dancing on his boyish face.
Your knees bend until you collapse on your bottom in the sand. It’s so soft, it doesn’t even resist your weight. It makes way for you easily, like a blanket. “I do.”
Cal joins you in the sand quickly enough. You’re both face to face, the wind in your hair and the water at your side. It crashes every few seconds, but it’s peaceful. Some kind of bird flies overhead, and butterflies are in the forested area behind you. The light of the sunset illuminates Cal’s hair more than usual. The brightest points of his eyes are highlighted.
“He loves you,” you offer.
“You think so?”
“I am one hundred percent certain... Just don’t touch the ship.”
Cal raises his hands as if surrendering. “Understood. Hands off.”
You turn your head to the water. Greez and Cere are standing ahead, most likely having a conversation of their own. The tide carries so much of the stress your shoulders hold away from you. Everything with the holocron, the empire- it was ridiculous what living in hiding could do to a person. It’s hard to imagine how Cal did it for so long. How painful that must’ve been for him. How painful it is to imagine him in pain.
“How’s your stomach?” you decide to ask at last.
Cal tilts his head for a second. “Better.”
“Perfect?” you raise your knees to your chest and rest your arms on them.
Just then, a little whirring noise pulls both of your attentions away. BD-1 bounds down the ramp of the ship, twirling around in observance as if excited. “Hey, BD,” Cal greets. “I know, buddy. I know.” The droid places itself in Cal’s lap, still looking around at the change in scenery.
“We’ve never been able to do this before,” you tell him. “I mean, I wasn’t here for the whole adventure. But I was here after and before and... and just... we’ve never done this.”
Cal is quiet. “I haven’t either.”
You look at him.
“Taken a break. I guess time on Bracca was the closest thing.”
You smile softly. “I’m sure it was really nice.”
Cal rolls his eyes along with his head, though the corner of his chapped pink lips turn upwards. “As nice as it could be with the Empire.”
“That’s pretty nice.”
Cal and you huff a humorous puff of air in unison.
“What were you doing before the Mantis?” Cal suddenly asked.
“Oh,” you roll your eyes and wave your hand. “Not important. Don’t even worry about it.”
“Come on!” Cal shifts.
“I’m serious!” you defend. “It’s boring stuff. You wouldn’t want to hear about it. Not as interesting as the force.”
“Well anything related to you is interesting,” Cal says casually, one of his palms lifting in the air for effect as he shifts again.
Well that makes your face feel hot. Anything related to you is interesting. How often do people get to hear that? And how casually it comes out of Cal’s mouth, the shrug of his shoulders that you tie so easily to him, that’s how you know it’s honest. Not only have you heard something intimate that not many people will in their whole lives, but it was also heartfelt.
“Yeah,” you mutter, though it sounds distant and far away as you watch Cal’s eyes. He doesn’t seem to mind. Then you snap back to reality. “This is gonna be good.”
Cal watches you pop to life, standing up entirely and running towards the water. BD-1 perks up as well to watch you just in time to see your much bigger form nearly knock the Latero over. And, much to Cal’s surprise, the little droid jumps from his lap and bounds after you. The red head decides he’s next to follow.
“BD-1,” he rasps, also nearly pushing Greez to the ground. “Don’t touch the water!”
But it’s too late. However, nothing happens. BD-1 stands in the shallow waves, unelectrocuted and unbroken. He doesn’t spark a bit, only cocking his head in wonder at his friend.
“Think fast!” a voice calls.
A splash of warm and salty water slaps against Cal’s face. He cringes, turning his shoulders away on impact with a little gasp that makes his throat burn. “Hey!”
Another splash.
Cal turns to you. You’re standing with your hands on either side of yourself, open and matching your smug and proud face. Your boots are still on, which can’t be comfortable given that they’re now submerged in water. BD-1 is on the back of your shoulders- something Cal thought was only between him and the droid. Apparently not.
“What’s wrong, Cal? Can’t handle the current?”
Cal stills himself. Then he bends down himself and flicks water upwards.
“Hey! No!”
He does it once more.
“No!”
So you too repeat your original actions and begin forcing salty liquid up into the air in Cal’s direction as well. BD-1 grips onto your collar for stability while you both go to town, careful to not open your mouths too wide and taste the saltiness.
“Be careful you two!” Cere calls from the shore. Neither Cal nor yourself heed her words, continuing on in disrupting the tide.
“They’re fine,” Greez assures with the wave of one of his many arms.
“Are you sure about that?” Cere responds with a hand on her hip as she watches you tackle the Jedi to the sandy terrain below the shallow water.
“Completely fine.”
You push both of Cal’s shoulders down jokingly, careful not to subdue his head under the water. He cranes his neck to keep it above the waves. Through his soft lashes, Cal can just see your smiling, evil intentioned face with BD-1 on your shoulder gazing at him.
Honestly, it feels just how it did last week- the last time you had watched Cal in his room. Gazing at him, admiring him. Just now you get to touch him, relax with him, splash water at him, even. You wish you could capture this moment if not forever, then for a while, and Cal wishes the same.

Sorry it’s short. Idk if it’s my best work certainly but I haven’t written for Cal or Star Wars in a while. But I didn’t kill the reader in this fic or have someone sick or in danger! So it might be my first ever straight fluff? I don’t know. But what a good character to do it with. I’m glad to give Cal a break. And i hope the requester enjoys.
