Jack and hiccup's daemons + toothless
In this au they both are 17/18yo, so their daemons can still change forms. Hiccup's daemon likes to transform to snakes or a wolverine.
Jack's daemon form stays most of the time as a snowy owl, but likes to transform into a fox and a ferret.
Hiccup has a flying ballon (like lee scoresby in the series :D )which he uses to visit his dragon friend toothless.

Young Masriel au [part 1: First meeting]: Recently returned from one of his expeditions, Asriel plans to crash one of Edward Coulter's exclusive dinner parties for networking purposes. At the door he's greeted by a mysterious and attractive young woman, who turns out to be married to the party host and coincidentally one of his biggest political rivals.

What if a His Dark Materials AU? Details of my thoughts under the cut.
So Roberto and Meryl have a badger and a lemur and Meryl is so excited to be in the black-and-white fur club with her senpai. Something something metaphors about learning to see shades of grey lol if we want to be heavy-handed with it. Definite primate vibes from Meryl— outgoing, loud when angered, high level of connection to her social group. Very intelligent and not so good completely solo.
Roberto meanwhile is a nocturnal animal, but still a social one. Badgers have been known to share their burrows even with other species, but can be really ferocious when under pressure. Also a very vocal species— they talk a lot.
I like the idea that for WW and Livio, the EoM tries really hard to force their members to settle according to their wishes, just as an extension of that manipulation. Mostly aiming for dogs probably or other animals that they feel can be forced to obey. For WW, a wolf was as close to a dog as they could get, and I like the idea that Livio(/Razlo)’s dæmon seems to flick back and forth between just a big dog and a true wolf depending on which personality is dominating. I imagine you’d also see some of the EoM lackeys being severed, as well, since that would make them biddable even if the rest of the brainwashing didn’t.
Vash’s mourning dove dæmon is also a prosthetic lol. I imagine Brad knew he’d need one to pass among humans and the form is a version of Rem’s white dove.
I also considered a St Bernard or some sort of hunting hound for Roberto, but I ultimately decided that something outside the domestic dog category would fit better. WW I think would also fit with a lot of different wild dog options, maybe something like a melanistic coyote, jackal, or painted dog that has that hunting instinct.
Legato was maybe severed as part of the abuse he had growing up, or forced to settle as something they could easily control like a butterfly or something else very vulnerable to harm, so he’s extremely protective and hides his dæmon.
Zazie is one of the first kids who ever settled as a worm on the new planet and then became part of the worm consciousness.
As a Plant, Nai doesn’t have a dæmon either in this setup, but I thought also about him and Vash sharing a dæmon or a chimera/two-headed dæmon. Ultimately I like the idea of them just not having an external dæmon and it being just another Othering thing. Perhaps Nai’s blades often end up shaping into a dragon or something.
I’m imagining part of the Plant-reveal on the sandsteamer would be Vash’s fake dæmon getting fried or destroyed which causes them to realize it’s not real.

Question.
Your dark materials and vtm fusion fic.
Do daemons have to resettle and change when you get embraced?
I wonder if the banes effect the daemon, like an ugly nos daemon or a really aggressive brujah one?
Also I'm on chapter 2, it's really good!
aaaa I'm glad you're enjoying it!
My headcanon is that yes -- when someone dies, their daemon turns to Dust, and when the Embrace is finished the daemon spends a few hours reforming. The daemon remains unsettled for about fifteen years, which is how long Cainites are considered fledglings for, and the daemon resettling is usually the signal that it's time for their sire to formally release them.
However... my headcanon is that this doesn't always happen. In humans, it takes major trauma for a daemon to unsettle -- it's the trauma of the Embrace that causes a daemon to unsettle. So people who make a much smoother transition and are less ruffled -- their daemons either resettle more quickly, barely change, or don't unsettle at all. For example, Wendy took to vampirism pretty well (kennels notwithstanding) so her daemon, Sammie, merely changed colour from a sable ferret to a white one.
Before the Masquerade, it was a lot more common for people's daemons to unsettle for only short times or not at all because their lives weren't turned completely upside down; they could still remain in touch with mortal families and so on, if they so chose. Not any more. Becoming a vampire so dramatically upends your life that it's very rare now for daemons to unsettle unless you were already a ghoul used to the life.
I also headcanon that Tzimisce daemons never resettle again and always retain the ability to shapeshift.
Another headcanon is that dying very much acts like the same severing that witches undergo with their daemons in HDM; daemons can now wander from their vampire without limit, and while that magical empathy is still present a daemon can be awake when their vampire sleeps and vice versa. A vampire with enough self loathing may be abandoned by their daemon or abandon their daemon. Elders are less fazed by this, but neonates find it horrifying.
Thinbloods, however, can wander farther from their daemons than mortals but there's a limit. In the prologue of the fic the Thinblood is really anxious and worried about Aredvi possibly wanting to abandon him one day, and feels discomfited when she leaves his side for a greater distance than she could while they were alive, even though they've been a vampire for a few years by then.
A daemon is affected by the same vampiric weaknesses but I hadn't considered physical banes. In my head Sammie just looked like a normal ferret, but the idea of a Nos daemon looking hideous is something I hadn't considered and is a really good idea. I'd definitely considered them to share the same emotional/metaphysical banes (eg inability to photograph Lasombra daemons, Brujah daemons being contrarians, Tremere daemons being prone to blood bonds), but not physical ones, oooh...

Hey :) (<- with the intention of going on a lengthy tangent about why I think this side character I love would have this extremely specific animal as a daemon in a hypothetical daemon!AU)

All magicians of old had had dæmons of large presence. This was not something that could be proven, yet it was considered as fact. The knowledge of most of the Aureates’ dæmons had been lost to time but was it not likely that the likes of Ralph Stokesey, Catherine of Winchester, and Thomas Godbless had had dæmons that were just as mystical and powerful as they? Had not Corvus, wolves, and serpents been common in the profession? And had not the Raven King had his raven, which was so often depicted in his imagery? In this new time of magic, what will the likes of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell have?
A collection of stories set in the world of His Dark Materials.

Harry Potter x His Dark Materials
So I read the Harry Potter books for the first time a while ago. While I did, I randomly got the idea of what if the characters had their own Dæmons? If so, what forms would they settle as? Now for anyone who doesn’t know what a Dæmon is, it’s essentially a person’s soul given physical form outside the body.
I didn’t figure out/assign every character in the books a Dæmon cause let’s be honest, there are a lot of characters. For the characters I did assign a Dæmon, I mainly relied on descriptions of the Dæmon List BBC made when the His Dark Materials tv show came out. Mostly because figuring out what animal aligns with a character’s personality the most on my own is kinda hard without something to go off of.
Also note, these are just my thoughts. Something I did for fun that is not meant to be taken seriously. If you think a different animal suits the character’s personality better, feel free to leave a comment. :)
So the characters I did assign a Dæmon to are of course the golden trio. There were a lot of good Dæmon candidates but I think the ones I ended up assigning match the characters well enough. Granted some of the descriptions may not fit perfectly but I did my best.
For Harry: Kestrel
Tumblr media
According to the Dæmon description it says, “You are impulsive, determined and courageous. You want the best for the world but your methods can be questionable. Sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to achieve the greatest outcome and it takes real bravery to be the scapegoat.”
I believe this describes Harry very well. There are many moments in the books where he acts on impulse, determined to do what he thinks is right, and is courageous in the face of danger. That last sentence in the description especially, given what happens at The Battle of Hogwarts.
For Hermione: Wildcat
Tumblr media
There were two other Dæmon forms I was considering for Hermione, but then after reading the description given to Wildcat, I dropped the other two Dæmons.
Said description given to Wildcat reads as follows, “You are independent, brave and logical. You have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and are extremely diligent. You weigh up your options without acting impulsively, but you never let this get in the way of a good adventure! You take your responsibilities seriously, acting with great care and tact. You are very protective of those you love and have a great desire to do good in this world.”
I believe this description matches best with Hermione. For she has shown many times the bravery of a Gryffindor, while using her intelligence to persevere in various situations at the same time.
For Ron: Border Terrier Cross
Tumblr media
As with the previously discussed characters, there were two other Dæmon forms I had been considering for Ron. Before of course settling on this one after reading its description.
The description reads as follows, “You’re honest, hardworking, and kind. You are often cheerful and happiest working in the service of others but if provoked, you will do what you have to in order to protect those you love. You are a loyal friend and a rock for them during troubled times.”
I believe this fits Ron the best mostly because he is indeed very loyal and the rock of the friend group. The rock but definitely shows with how shaken Harry and Hermione are when he leaves them during The Deathly Hallows. They feel his absence deeply. That and the fact Ron has stayed being friends with Hermione and Harry throughout all the crazy stuff that happens throughout the books.
————
That’s pretty much it. The only other character I tried assigning a Dæmon to was Cedric, but I’m not certain if the description for Black Squirrel really fits him. So I left that out of this post. Also if I were to try to think up more Dæmon forms with other characters, I would leave out those with a known animagus form. Since an animagus form often reflects who the character is as a person anyhow.

Daemon Test for TED LASSO
Tumblr media
A dæmon (day-mun) is a type of fictional being in the Philip Pullman fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials. Dæmons are the external physical manifestation of a person’s “inner-self” that takes the form of an animal. … Dæmons are usually of the opposite sex to their human, though same-sex dæmons do exist.
In General...
Your daemon would take the form of an equine! Those who have equine daemons are free-spirited and victorious, known to follow their hearts in pursuing their dreams. Though willful, their dislike for conflict lands them in positions of helping others. Even still, they deeply value their own ideas and are led by their big dreams.
More Specifically...
Tumblr media
Your daemon would take the form of a thoroughbred! You are a hardworking and passionate individual who has a free spirit. More so than others with equine daemons, those with thoroughbreds have quick minds — if there is nothing to do, they are certain to find something. Their adventurous nature and rotating interests make it hard for many to keep up with them. When deciding on your daemon's appearance, consider your thoroughbred's coloring. Equines come in all different colors, and typically the more patterned a daemon is, the more flamboyant and intense the individual is. A white coat typically indicates someone helpful and good-hearted, a black coat someone private and withdrawn, and an orange coat someone with fiery feelings. Appaloosas and paints undoubtedly have a creative and passionate spirit.
Of course the American cowboy would have such a beautiful daemon!!
While I do like the idea of Ted having this massive painted mare (Fortuna? Elenore?? Styvera??) following him around, for logistics I usually like giving people different daemons if it turns out they have an "over-sized" one... But what to do.. A sugar glider doesn't exactly fit him (but might fit Coach Beard!) Open to suggestions!
edit: Strindaria? Strindaria for daemon name? I think yES..

[VTM] Fic: Divine Intervention 5/15
Title: Divine Intervention
Fandom: Vampire: The Masquerade (His Dark Materials AU)
Adjacent Sub-Fandoms: London by Night, VTM: Coteries of New York, His Dark Materials
Main Characters: Olivia Martin (Ventrue OFC), Mithras, Roger de Camden
Major Characters: Tiffany de Camden (Ghoul OFC)
Story Summary:
A year and a half after drinking the blood of a powerful vampire, an American SI captive, Olivia, is released into British society to spy on the strongest one of all: Roger de Camden, a chronically depressed necromancer who’s quite ready to go to sleep and never wake up. But his daemon is utterly fascinated with Olivia, and worse still, the delusions she’s had since the diablerie seem to be fixated on the two of them in turn. But as the SI throw their plans away and Olivia finds herself fighting for her life, the delusion that she is Mithras, the ancient god-king of Britain, only seems to grow stronger and stronger. Worse still, there seems to be something other than Mithras living in her head with her…
Chapter Summary: In which Olivia goes mostly ignored by her new havenmates, and Timaeus says a bunch of spooky shit. Also she feels entitled to steal Roger's most prized possession.
Chapter 4 is here!
Snip:
Rowan lay on the ground, slumped to the side as if the daysleep had struck him halfway through drawing the damn thing. There was a strange pointed cap in his arms that looked like it should have disintegrated years ago. "Careful," Timaeus whispered. "He has our blood. He doesn't sleep as deeply as other Cainites."
