Lyra’s got a twin sister called Aurora (if you know, you know).

obviously, Lyra’s grown up with Asriel in Oxford, whilst Aurora grew up in London with Marisa.

They meet one summer, at St. Sophia’s summer school, when both their parents are away (separately, of course) on respective work trips to the north.

They don’t get along at all at first (as it is) because Lyra thinks Aurora to be this high-handed, posh girl, who couldn’t climb a roof if her life depended on it, whilst Aurora sees Lyra as a poorly dressed, at best mediocrely educated wildling, who cannot even tell the difference between a butter knife and a dinner knife.

After their prank contest degenerates, ergo they’re being sent to a different room outside the main college campus, they finally give each other a chance, and realize that they are not as different as they thought; they eventually find out the truth thanks to their respective halves of the same old, crinkly photograph they’ve both nicked from their parents folders.

On the last day, they switch roles, going to the others home and pretending to be the other person, to get to know their mother/father.

Yeah, I think we all know how the story goes, but how cool would such an au be?

Ok I absolutely love the way they did the Intention Craft scene, but I still think people who only watched the show should be aware of how fucking funny it was in the books.

Marisa starts the chapter tied up and gagged in Asriel’s bedroom, and by the end of it, he’s taking her on a tour of his fortress and excitedly showing off his weird plane/helicopter/batmobile thing. He then proceeds to let her join him in the (relatively small) plane/helicopter/batmobile and, not two seconds later, she pushes him out. He responds by telling his personal, pocket-sized, spy to follow her, letting her steal his plane/helicopter/batmobile, and then going to look at a more advanced version of the aforementioned vehicle. The only thing he has to say about the whole event is a mildly amused “damn should’ve seen that coming,” and then…nothing. They never talk about it again. As much as I love how the show did it, it thinks it’s important to remember just how unhinged it was in the books.
