Once upon a time . . . our dnd group started a fantastic campaign that crossed over from Toril to Middle Earth via spelljammer. Among other LotR cameos like Radagast (who resurrected a player who didn't survive our first Uruk-Hai encounter), my air genasi ran across Glorfindel outside of Rivendell and was having a terrible time trying to explain to him what a genasi was.

Unfortunately, the campaign is on permanent hiatus, but I loved the character and the backstory the dm had helped me create for her, so I've created and planned out a whole fantasy world to write is. I'll get to her eventually.

Had a dream Buttons was Gimli and Legolas' son. Buttons was taken from them as a baby. After they find him they decide to let him be raised by Man, for his protection. They reunite years later, post Butthands. Gimli was proud of Buttons for getting with a dwarf lmao

I've gotta give a huge shoutout to @emilybeemartin for her awesome sharpe and especially the borimir content, because it's giving me fuel to keep writing. I'm just sorry it's sad, but he's a sad, sad man.

This is set near the start of Sharpe's Honour.

She’s gone. That’s all there is to it- Teresa is gone. Killed. Wherever the dead of this world go, he hopes that she is at peace. He hopes she doesn’t miss their baby. He hopes she isn’t sad. Even a handful of the grief he feels would be too much for him to inflict on another person.

Faramir would have loved her. He would have followed her every direction with gleeful vindictiveness. Aragorn, too, would have liked Teresa. They’d have found many things to have quiet conversations about. And the hobbits! He stares miserably at the dancing flames. How she would have loved the little ones, and their food habits, and especially Merry and Pippin.

But now she’s gone.

He buries his face in his hands. Who cares who sees him? Pat will stop anyone disturbing him, and it’s tempting, so tempting, for him to just allow that. Pat and his rifles will keep his peace and he can marinate in guilt and grief and homesickness until he dies of it.

No, brother, whispers his memory of Faramir. Come home.

“I'm trying,” he answers, “I’m trying.”
