Hazardous Waste Management in Dubai
Managing hazardous waste is a responsibility that requires careful planning and execution. In a dynamic city like Dubai, where urbanization and industrialization are at their peak, hazardous waste management is crucial to protecting public health and the environment. ClearEarth Recycling LLC plays a vital role in providing tailored, eco-friendly solutions to address these challenges.

Most useful and actionable thing I have to say about antifascist praxis besides ‘punch them very hard’ is probably that fascists (and insurgent dominionists) very rarely come to power just through violence and manipulation (without either the aid of a foreign power or an extremely strong basis in the military); they build up a social, political, cultural, and paramilitary counterpower on a wave of genuine popular support, by filling voids where the state has retreated or is stretched too thin and which the left has failed to resolve. The most effective way to do this is by satisfying material needs, e.g. Golden Dawn’s blood/clothes/food drives or housing squats by Italian fascists. The goal of a fascist movement trying to claw its way to ‘Stage 2’ is to build and mobilize an entire alternative society in as many strata of their ingroup as possible. Sometimes they operate in tandem with the state – if the state has withdrawn, it probably prefers that the gap be filled by someone who will uphold ‘class unity’ and social hierarchy – but other times they’re forcefully usurping it. The point is, though, that autonomous self-organization – the state does not leave a power vacuum because the people are not powerless – is the only real solution; fascists can’t organize communities that are already organized.

Ok. I work on a floor with 2 bunsen burners and a flamible/combustible liquids cabnet. Last week, I realized I didn't know where the fire extinguisher was (despite frequently using an open flame). Turns out it is out the door and down the hall. About as far from the fire hazards as possible. And I can't stop thinking abt it. Like. That feels fucking crazy right? I ask bc I seem to be the only person who cares. I told my advisor that I think we should have more fire extinguishers and he looked at me blank faced (despite the fact that he had to actively wander around the whole floor bc he also didn't kno where it was). And like yeah, in 20 years they haven't had a fire and maybe they never will but this feels like a fucking common sense preventative measure? It's just tempting fate. The hubris of not putting a fire extinguisher next to a bunsen burner is driving me crazy?? It's not even in the same god damn room! You would have to run out the room, sprint down the hall, open the case, and sprint back to use it! Why am I the only one who cares???
#am i just a fucking rule following loser??? maybe. but like. it seems like not a single person gives a fuck abt safety in the god damn state#im in the fucking land of liberatarians and everyone just seems fine to pour live cultures down the sink and let ppl walk thru the outskirts#of a superfund site without protective equipment. fucking. god dammit. they dont even make u do lab safety training!!!!#at my last school i had to do online trianing. take a test and get it renewed every year. then get special training for hazardous waste#disposal bc we autoclaved our biological waste. which we dont fucking do here. here u take a common sense test that one of ur peers#basically assumes u passed and there u go. ur trained to work in the lab. and my last fucking school was not in some progressive utopia#i was in the southwest. i didn't kno we could get more yeehaw hands off than that. i just. its crazy#and i feel like im the only one who cares. and i feel like im being a cry bby for saying something but im not gonna fucking let it go#bc it is one of my greatest god damn fears to make a stupid fucking mistake and not be able to fix it in a way that was clearly fucking#preventable. so like fuck u. accidents fucking happen. my friend had to use a fire extinguisher last semester bc she started an ethanol fire#ugh. my advisor said he would talk to someone higher up at the University bc it feels like this should b their problem. Anyway. i told my#dad abt this and he was absolutely astounded bc he works for the government and they have a million safetly standards#ugh. i hate this. this is why ppl dont fucking speak up when they see something weird. now i gotta b a neurotic lil safety bitch#unrelated

Maybe it's just me and I just don't understand the arc. Or maybe this arc will get some grand conclusion I'm really starting to doubt. But like I'm sick and tired of Tashigi being used as Zoro's misogyny proxy. Like the "a woman swordsman could never beat a man" belief and trauma made sense for both Kuina and Tashigi and was a very valid fear way back in the East Blue when they were still fighting relatively normal people and had no scope of how big the world is
but at this point where there are literally 20 feet tall dudes and people can blow up a whole city with just Haki the only reason Tashigi is still weak is because she is being written that way. Which is really hard to understand because it seems now more than ever One Piece has been getting more and more strong female characters so I don't know why every time Tashigi is on screen with Zoro we have to rehash this. It's even worse cause all she does in the scene is prove Zoro right by getting in a fight that she can't handle and needing saving. It's such a confusing message and honestly doesn't really apply or come up anywhere but with Tashigi and Zoro (outside of that one time where Zoro yells at enel for blasting Robin because she's a woman which was weird because Robin's been in a lot of fights before but seemed there just so enel could point out just how ruthless it is.)
Hell with the exception of the G5 all being in love with her. She is treated like a regular character and not just "the woman"
It honestly feels like both Tashigi and Smoker got lost in the narrative and Oda just doesn't know where to put their arcs. It feels like she was being written to help Zoro overcome whatever mental block Kuina's death instilled in him about facing female opponents with his sword. But she is just sooooo far behind him it renders the point moot and strengthens his convictions (it's weird that he will literally crush a woman's face rather than use his sword and is the only reason I won't say he doesn't fight women he does he just seems to have a mental block about cutting them down especially if they fight with anything blade like) but also we've only ever seen him face female character he knows can't challenge him it would have been interesting to see what he'd do in a fight against someone like big mom, tsuru or smoothie doubt that will happen though. But here's to hoping for Tashigi to have an actual arc.

Countdown to Coven of Chaos: Day 514
Wanda: “Why is there a nondescript cardboard box in the dumpster”
Agatha: “I started an oil painting. It didn’t turn out. Don’t worry it’s not a big deal.”
Y/N: “Then why did you work on it for 5 days straight and cry when I said the building looked crooked?”
Agatha: “…”
Agatha: “Because you being wrong physically hurts me”
Y/N: “It was crooked!”
Agatha: “IT WASN’T”
Wanda: “Get it out of the dumpster and let me judge!”
Agatha: “Well um…when I said I threw a painting away…it was more like the remnants”
Wanda: “That thing is in splinters that couldn’t even be used as kindling now, isn’t it?
Agatha: “…Mayhaps I overreacted…”

Despite what Big Tobacco hopes you'll believe, vaping is smoking. Don't be a sucker for an industry which has killed or inflicted serious disease upon hundreds of millions of people around the world over the past 100+ years.
Vaping (E-Cigarettes)
And even if you don't care about your health, there's the matter of what disposable vapes do to the environment.
Vape Waste: The environmental harms of disposable vapes U.S. throws out 4.5 disposable vapes per second

Recycling Centre Site Visit ✨
Today I had the opportunity to visit the Hazardous Waste Recycling Centre in Gateshead (i): a tour organised by Suez, the site owner ♻️
I am pleased with how transparent Laura and Hannah, our guides, have been while explaining what happens to the local recycling and general waste. No question has been left unanswered, and topics have been discussed with the most environmentally friendly tone: everything led to the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle 🙌🏻
The overall experience exceeded my expectations as the amount of knowledge I gained was HUGE ⛰️
This is how I would summarise today’s experience in few points:
1. Disposable vapes are a PROBLEM 💨
Strangely classified by UK Legislation as “toys, leisure and sport equipment”, they have been responsible for numerous fires at the recycling centre. E-cigarettes contain lithium batteries, which can easily ignite when segregated with the other waste streams. Furthermore, recycling one 200L barrel full of disposable vapes costs more than £2000 😰
2. Machines that sort general waste out DO NOT EXIST ⚙️
Due to complex composition of general waste, there is no machine or automated process able to effectively separate non-recyclables from recyclables that ended up in the general waste. At Suez, sorting is done BY HANDS 🤲🏻
3. Energy-from-Waste (EFW) requires A LOT of ENERGY ⚡️
Suez’s EFW facility has the potential to generate enough electricity to power 30.000 homes via waste incineration. However, the majority of energy goes back into the facility to keep the process going: fire is on 24/7 🔥
4. Separate food waste segregation at home is COMING SOON 🍔
Around 6.5 MILLION tonnes of food waste come from households every year. The shocking thing is: around 70% of that food waste IS STILL EDIBLE when people dispose of it (4.5 MILLION tonnes). Suez compared it to 90 Royal Albert Halls! 😱
5. Load contamination is a serious thing ☣️
Staff works hard every day to ensure skips contain the waste they have been designed for. When hazardous materials get in the same bin with recyclables, the WHOLE load becomes hazardous. This means that all the waste contained in that bin is very likely to lose its recycling potential. As it has been said today: “It is better losing some recycling in the general waste than contaminating an entire load of recycling and losing all of it” 😞 This is such a powerful sentence.
For those interested in knowing about waste disposal and recycling, I strongly recommend this experience. Event details can be found on Eventbrite and many waste sites are available for tour booking 🤩
Ah, forgot this: IT’S FREE 🤯

In U.S. progressive politics the hate frame has four main assumptions: First, that hate is rooted purely in irrational, personal prejudice and fear and loathing of difference. In fact, it’s also rooted in ideologies and supremacy, in a historical and cultural context. Second, that hate is hate, and the specificities don’t matter. Third, that the politics of hate is about that crazy irrational feeling, which is caused by personal prejudice gone amok. In this view, hate is not about structures, not about power hierarchies, not about institutional practice. Finally, that hate is perpetrated by extremists, misfits, and loners who are violating agreed-upon standards of fairness, and that hate violence is unacceptable and abhorrent to respectable society.
In fact, what is called “hate violence”—violence directed at vulnerable and marginalized groups—is not abhorrent to respectable society. On the contrary, respectable society has provided the models, policies, and practices that marginalize people of color, queers, disabled people, and in many respects, women. The hate frame disappears considerations of structural violence and substitutes in their place the idea that there are these crazed extremists, and that’s who we have to go after.
